I agree wholeheartedly with your statements. I don't have a burden to the extent you do but maybe that was what the dream I had was all about and not just the garlic chicken. I thought I was having a stroke and needed to wake up to have hubby take me to the ER. couldn't wake up and when did was probably still asleep. at somepoint I decided i was being oppressed by Satan and decided to pray about it and tell him he had no authority. i then found myself (in my dream) on the opposite side of the house where the colors of the walls and wallpaper were changing with great flux-in retrospect the decor wasn't the decor that is in my house-I then took a stand in each room and told Satan he had no authority. The decor of the room would then settle down to what it should be and then it was onto the next room

strange dream at anyrate.

Oh my word-If you want to see the spiritual reality of our nation read this link about Prop 8 in California. I think a pastor may have written it. Then view the comments. Look @ the one "radio boy" posted who thinks he's a Christian.

Prop 8 preserves freedoms-USA Today

(I think pretty soon the world is going to roast us Real Christians on a spit.)

Please pray for my friend, Lisa. She went to the hospital against the wishes of her husband. She has a twisted bowel and will be having surgery in the next 24 hours. She has little to no support at home.

I have to say it is kind of surprising hearing all of these things from you guys.

I assumed most folks here believed in the an all powerful and all knowing God.

I assumed you all believed what the Bible says, that He is in control of all things, and ALL things work together for good for those who love Him.

HE raises up and takes down leaders for HIS glory and name sake.

Come on now, folks!

Glad to see at least that everyone is praying!

Jamie, I thank you for the information you sent re: the patterns of 7 in the Bible. I can't say I am able to totally follow it all that well, but I do believe these are signs that He gave us to let us know He is on His way...soon hopefully!

I agree, Grany...with your post about getting everyone to accept Him.... there is NO other way!

No amount of good works or church going or ANYTHING except a saving faith in Him and Him ALONE!

I believe we are in the days of Noah where people were going about their merry way, marrying and all of that and then... boom! The floods came. NOah tried to tell them but they would not listen.

Oh God, please use us to return your creation back to Yourself. We are available for You to use any way that You would like.
In Jesus name, Amen!

Ok Lori,

DEFENDING DAVID WILKERSON
-by Andrew Strom.

There are large sections of the modern 'Prophetic' movement who for a long time now have bitterly opposed all that David Wilkerson stands for. They describe him as a "Doom and Gloom" merchant -always warning of what is coming and calling the nation and the church to REPENTANCE.

I received an email from some U.S friends awhile ago who had just gone back to a Pentecostal church after some years. They told me, "If I bring up David Wilkerson, they all get a hateful, angry look on their face." Isn't that terribly sad.

Even though David Wilkerson is the one man who has consistently warned America of cataclysms just like the ones we are seeing, he is still denigrated. Even though he is proved right, still they detest him! I think it is because his major message is "REPENT”. And he doesn't pussy-foot around like a lot of these other so-called” prophets".

When the "God Wants You Rich" prosperity message began to spread, David was one of the few leaders who publicly refuted it and called the people to repent from the "love of money". Many hated him for that. Especially because he is so direct and up-front.

And when the 'Toronto Blessing' came along, with churches full of the most weird and often ugly behavior - he called it like it was. He was one of the few (if any) Pentecostal leaders who actually stood up publicly and refuted this new 'spirit' that was invading the church. You can imagine how despised he was for that.

There is a 'Prophetic' movement in the world today that is in my opinion very far removed from the word 'Prophet'. It sells truckloads of books and holds untold conferences, but at the end of the day it is a mealy-mouthed travesty of the word 'Prophetic'. It retains its popularity because it is almost always "positive" and up-lifting. The voice of an Amos or Jeremiah is rarely (if ever) heard in its ranks - let alone a "John the Baptist”. It is almost never blunt or confrontational - especially about sin.

A lot of this movement has a chronic obsession with the 'religious spirit'. Everywhere these people look all they can see are religious spirits of legalism, pharisaism, etc. Thus they are always talking about "grace, grace, grace". The words "Sin, Righteousness and Judgment" are almost a horror to them, because they are so fearful of being 'religious'. And thus when they come across a prophet who actually preaches on Sin, Righteousness and Judgment (-which are the very things Jesus said His Spirit would CONVICT of), they reject him. Every true prophet that I know of down through history has been a 'Sin, Righteousness and Judgment' preacher. So has every true Revivalist. (Finney, Wesley, Whitfield, Edwards, etc). It is part of the job description!

We have invented a new meaning for the term 'Prophetic' in our day that is far below the standard of the Bible. And far below the standard that must be in place to see a true Revival. I think it was God's spokesman Ezekiel who coined the term pillow prophets". That is the last thing that America needs in her hour of crisis. What is needed are voices who truly tell it like it is - who WARN the people, no matter what the cost. -A 'clear trumpet sound'.

David Wilkerson has been just such a voice. And he is almost a 'lone' voice - though thank God he is widely heard. I believe God has placed him in New York for this very hour - the city that combines world political power (-The U.N) with world financial power and world media power. David is "God's man" in that city - I truly believe this. And if he says that God's message to America through these tragedies is "REPENT" then personally I will believe him rather than any mealy mouthed 'prophet' who says otherwise. I am going to listen to the” man on the spot".

David hates sin and deception so much, and loves God and
the people so much, that he cannot stand to be silent when God's heart-truths are being trampled underfoot. That is the mark of a true prophet. Keep it up, David!

God bless you all.

Andrew Strom.

Sounds like we are on the same wavelength as far as the outcome of the election. It's all under God's sovereign hand.

We should vote but it's outcome does not give us our greatest joy. We all know where that comes from...

FYI-From San Diego Pastor:

These are exciting and important times—and God has given us numerous opportunities to participate and make a stand for His Kingdom.

First, please VOTE! Pray, study the issues, then exercise your right as a citizen of our nation to take a stand on important issues —such as Prop. 8 in California. As a pastor, I avoid making political statements, but in this case, I consider this a biblical issue, not a political one. Please vote YES on 8, to protect and preserve marriage as God intended it—between one man and one woman.

I also urge you to participate in a Week of Prayer and Fasting next week, November 3-7. Most of those days fall after the election. We are asking that God’s will be done for our nation, no matter what the election outcomes are. You can read more about this week, as we join believers nationwide, here: http://www.weekofprayerandfasting.org

Finally, a few thoughts I want to share with you to put it all in perspective:

Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place." (John 18:36).

The Lord's Kingdom is neither political nor "of this world." Jesus also said, speaking of believers, "...for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world" (John 17:14).

It's quite a balancing act, living in this world, working, interacting with people, finding enjoyment in the arts, taking advantage of progress, participating in politics, appreciating the world around us—and yet, staying true to the Kingdom of God. But Jesus says it can be done. We can live in the world, but not be of the world, because the world is not where His kingdom is. If we truly enter into His kingdom, and live there by the power of the Holy Spirit and the strength of His Word, then we can achieve what appears to be nearly impossible.

Jesus and His disciples posed a threat to the established political order. Pontius Pilate was trying to figure out, what kind of king is this Jesus? Christianity ultimately turned the world upside down. Yet, the early believers made no attempt to conquer paganism or overthrow Judaism by reacting blow by blow to others' fears and threats. Instead, they outthought, outprayed and outlived the unbelievers.

Their weapons were spiritual not fleshly. They did not hold protests or boycotts; they did not put on a campaign to unseat the emperor. Instead, they prayed and preached and proclaimed the message of Christ and Him crucified on the cross for our sin, and of His Resurrection from the dead.

They knew, believed, and experienced the message that had the power to change lives! And as a result, they dramatically impacted their world and generations to come. In the end, they prevailed. Where is the Roman Empire today? Yet the Church of Jesus Christ lives and continues to thrive and grow around the world.

God prevails, because He so loved the world that He gave His only Son, and He empowers us with His Spirit. That is how the world is changed.

May God bless you and our nation,
Pastor Ray

Boro Eagle, (Scott)

I have to say that I agree with you starting here. By the way, it is great seeing your comments again and I have truly missed you. Still praying though.

JIB, those battles take place and you have to declare your territory over your own house when ever needed. What gets me ralled up is failing to keep the ground that Jesus already won for us. Sometimes it takes Marge or you or Lori to say, Hey~ tell the tormentor to take a hike and mean it.

God bless you Donna! I can see the mountains of love for God you hold in your heart and it is a blessing.

Lisa, I agree with Andrew Strom on David Wilkerson. I also have a great deal of trouble with the poor attitude that tries to make fun of the warnings. Perry Stone has a new Revelation study on DVD that I think would be very interesting for a lot of people really searching for the truth without all of the baloney. But today, I watched his DVD on "The Rapture and the Law of First Fruits and WOW is all I can say! You talk about digging deep into the Jewish symbolism of the feast, this is very easy to grasp and I am getting my opinion straightened out regarding the rapture sequence. No not prewrath. Not midtrib but which feast is is a shadow of.

Anyway, it was excellent and highly recommend it.

You all take care and keep looking up!

I was thinking a little more about the Obama Hypnosis theory & came up with this "MK Ultra Operative".

It's a governmental type of agency.

Here is a video of Pres.Clinton apologizing for the govt.use of mind control experiments on the public:President Clinton

Also some people who were involved w/this speak out in:- MIND CONTROL Goes Public - 1of5

If you listen to the end of part 2 the lady begins to explain how the govt. is actually using "New Age" propaganda & meditation to influence the populace now. (Like Oprah & the situation I had today w/Eckhart's book)

Watching these people flock to Obama w/o doing any do diligence & investigating his background is astounding is it not? Maybe many in America have actually been brainwashed or affected by whatever is going on.

Government-Media/news-& Hollywood are all interconnected in these testimonies.

Here's what we have to deal with in Minnesota's senatorial election. The Repub choice is better, but has his share of faults.

Vulgar mockery of Christians: Is this what we want in a U.S. senator?

Lisa, great article from the San Diego pastor. Very well put.

Donna, I hear you. Our pastor has been talking about being a Romans 13 Christian, accepting who God puts in power. And I will, but I have this heaviness on my heart that an Obama win will...well, I guess you know, I don't have to keep saying it.

One thing I am meaning to ask my pastor about, and maybe others here have opinions about this (ya think??)...someday the ac will be here. Just for the sake of...discussion...will he (pastor) still be advising the flock to obey those in authority? Even if not the ac, there are certainly rulers whom we should not, will not obey. Hitler, Stalin, the obvious ones and others in today's world. But, my pastor reminds us that Nero was in power when this was written:

Romans 13:1 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.

This concerns me because there are so many who are ignorant of the Bible and what is to come, especially for those who come to believe after the rapture, or even if the rapture is midtrib.

I guess this is one reason we are to talk about and study end times prophecy.

Donna and others

I think i can safely say for both Grany and myself we do believe God is in control and that all things do ultimately work together for good but.. (and now I'm just speaking for me) while true-it is somewhat trite, generally overused and in some cases (not this one ) said because someone feels the need to say something religious. I can however look back on my life and see how situations that were devastating did ultimately turn out for good but it was a long hard painful road. The fact that I can look back and say-yes it did turn out for good, did not make it any less devastating at the time. i personally think we in the American church have absolutely no clue what we might be facing in persecution because we can't fathom that kind of activity happening in our own backyard-that's the stuff of communism and dictators. BHO's best friends and mentors were communist, he studied intensively a religion hostile to Christianity. On of his own relatives obtained his political position in Kenya by his followers rioting and killing Christians.

If BHO wins the election I personally think that means that God has lifted his hand of blessing and will be judging our nation and perhaps refining us the church in ways we never imagined. Don't think Christians are going to go without being judged because I think we won't-I think the letter that Lisa posted from Strom makes that fairly clear. Further God has judged Israel in the past when they were not righteous. Which gets back to-do we have enough righteous in this country to stay the hand of God at this time?

I can't tell you how proud I am to be an American-while others might argue I think it is or at least has been the best place on earth. We are looking at the potential end of our country as we know it or even as an individual country. When my brother died I mourned his passing. When my country falls I will mourn it's passing as well. God doesn't tell us not to mourn he tells us not to mourn as those who have no hope. As individuals we know that we will see our saved loved ones again. but what about those who are not saved-what are we doing about them. If BHO wins time is very short. If all this does come to pass we know that this means we are ever closer to Christ's coming for his own but who knows how deep the valley is between us and it?

jib said...

I too have been thinking about the situation of what do we do when confronted with having to take a painful risky stand that is in violation of the government. as I was thinking about this I had the following thought

when Christ said to render unto Caesar what was Caesar's something struck me -
other than the obvious reason of trying to pin the charge of sedition on Christ it isn't a bad question. Don't you suppose that the Romans took the money they obtained from taxing the Jews and then used it to commit atrocities and sins against God's laws?

when Paul was talking about submitting to government-think about what Nero was doing-orgies, parties, killing Christians etc with taxpayer money. how did the Christians of that day feel knowing that their tax money was going to the upkeep of the lion that killed their loved one?

so when they start using our tax money for abortion-what then? when they start using our tax money to further promote homosexual causes what then? The latter behavior was definitely going on in the Roman empire and the former was probably going on in some fashion as well although not to the extent that we have done and not high tech but there are undoubtedly herbal and natural things one can take to abort a baby.

so is it right to pay taxes or not when you know your money is going to spread evil? is paying caving or not? if you are an employer is taking a stand against giving gay couples benefits when the legal mandate to do so exists or not? does it depend on the price one has to pay?

jim.carroll said...

Jib, Shalom! I can tell you that the Catholic view is that since all your tax money goes into one pot, you cannot refuse to pay your taxes as a means of protest against a policy or policies of the legally constituted government. Since it's one big pot, you have no way of controlling who gets what, so you are not contributing to a grave sin by paying your taxes. If it is a legally constituted government, then we are required by Scripture to acknowledge that it gets its authority from G_D, even if it uses that authority towards evil ends.

We are permitted to carry out peaceful protests and petitions to encourage the government to change its policies; we are not permitted to follow laws, directives, or commands that conflict with the laws of G_D (i.e., we must refuse if we are ordered to drive someone to an abortion clinic); but even if it tries to supress us through imprisonment and torture, it is the government that G_D has set up for us. It is only when the government works against its legal constitution (i.e., the congress is dissolved and we have government by edict) that we are permitted to resist.

Jib, my apologies, and to all of you! Now that I've actually READ the first few messages, I see where you described your dream.

You probably know this already, that when you are dreaming your brain disconnects itself from the motor neuron network. It's what keeps you from acting out your dreams. Occasionally the brain arises to consciousness before the motor neurons are fully connected. It's what gives you that paralyzed feeling, because you are effectively paralyzed.

It then sounds like you went into a lucid dreaming state, where you returned to the dream state while having some control over the content and direction of your dream. You used this conscious control to expell some evil influence from your house.

Strange, yes, but powerful.

Hey Jen
You made a silly mistake coming here spweing your act.
I work for The Obama campaign and can’t wait for this week to be over.
I was doing it for a job. I was not a fan of any candidate but over time grew to love HRC.
The internal campaign idea is to twist, distort, humiliate and finally dispirit you.
We pay people and organize people to go to all the online sites and “play the part of a Clinton or McCain supporter who just switched our support for Obama”
We do this to stifle your motivation and to destroy your confidence.
We did this the whole primary and it worked.
Sprinkle in mass vote confusion and it becomes bewildering. Most people lose patience and just give up on their support of a candidate and decide to just block out tv, news, websites, etc.
This surprisingly has had a huge suppressing movement and voter turnout issues.
Next, we infiltrate all the blogs and all the YouTube videos and overwhelm the voting, the comments, etc. All to continue this appearance of overwhelming world support.
People makes posts to the effect that the world has “gone mad”
That’s the intention. To make you feel stressed and crazy and feel like the world is ending.
We have also had quite a hand in skewing many many polls, some we couldn’t control as much as we would have liked. But many we have spoiled over. Just enough to make real clear politics look scary to a McCain supporter. Its worked, although the goal was to appear 13-15 points ahead.
see, the results have been working. People tend to support a winner, go with the flow, become “sheeple”
The polls are roughly 3-5 points in favor of Barack. That’s due to our inflation of the polls and pulling in the sheeple.
Our donors, are the same people who finance the MSM. Their interests are tied, Barack then tends to come across as Teflon. Nothing sticks. And trust, there were meetings with Fox news. The goal was to blunt them as much as possible. Watch Bill Oreilly he has become much more diplomatic and “fair and balanced” and soft. It’s because he wants to retain the #1 spot on cable news and to do that he has to have access to the Obama campaign and we worked hard at stringing him a long and keeping him soft for an interview swap. It worked and now he is anticipating more access. So he is playing it still soft.
This is why nothing sticks. So we have to up the anti more and more each day…
The operation is massive, the goal is to paint a picture that is that of a winner, regardless of the results.
There is no true inauguration draft or true grant park construction going on. There will be a party, but we are boasting beyond the truth to make it seem like the election is wrapped up.
Our goal is to continue to make you lose your moral. We worked hard at persuasion and paying off and timing and playing the right political numbers to get key republican endorsements to make it seem even more like it was over and the world was coming to an end for you all.
There is a huge staff of people working around the clock, watching every site, blogs, etc. We flood these sites. We have had a goal to overwhelm. The worse the information the better
The truth is here. I could go on and on, but you get the picture.
I am saying this because I know HRC was better for the country, and now I realize this. I was too late by the time I connected to her. To me Barack was just a cool young dude that seemed like a star. I didn’t know him or his policies, but now I understand more than I care to and I realize his interests are more for him, and the DNC and all working like puppets with Dean. I always thought a president wanted the better good for the country. The end result I see is everyone dependent on the government, this means more and more people voting for the DNC. This means the future is forever altered. I don’t see this as America, so I am now supporting John McCain.
Sarah Palin is a huge threat, and our campaign has feared her like you can’t imagine. If it seems unfair how she has been treated, well it’s because she has had a team working round the clock to make her look like a fool.
this is a big conspiracy and I am so shocked that it’s not realized.
We released a little blurb the other day that the Obama campaign was already working on reelection and now putting our efforts towards 2012. This was to make it seem like it was above us to continue caring about 2008. Trust me, it’s a lie. David is very smart, but it’s a sticky ugly not very truthful kind of intelligence.
Its not over yet, but I think the machine is working. And it’s a hill to climb.
I will be quitting my post on Nov 5th and my vote will be for John McCain. Fortunately, my position has been a marketing position and I don’t feel I had any part of anything I would feel guilty for. But I look forward to getting out of this as the negativity and environment upsets me.
I wish you all well, and good luck.
Sarah
PS my name is not really Sarah. but I am a female and I understand your plight."

~~~Hubby and I are going down to the court house in a few minutes to cast our early vote because his eye surgery is on Tuesday and we won't be able to do it then. He goes to the eye clinic in Ft. Smith real early and then has to stick around the onsite surgery complex to establish his progress until noon. I could probably sneak off to the local voting precinct but this will work for now.
See you all around later,
Grany
JIB and others, we know the time is drawing closer to be sure and God's word is without end and is sent to accomplish Abba's purpose. His word is clear on submitting to the law of the land. We are blessed when we do so because the authority that God has invested in us is made clear when we resist rebellion of any kind. It is very difficult to allow taxes to be used for devilish things but the blessing is in obedience. He prefers obedience to sacrifice and has always.
I can't even imagine the horror of the early Christians when the persecution was going on and their life blood was being wasted on beasts of prey. They are our great cloud of witnesses and should that time ever befall this nation as it did then, we still have to submit to the law and entertain no foolishness to rebellion. That is the wonder of Heart that is turned to Christ. We can't do it on our own but only through the one who lives in us. For greater is he who is in us (Christ) than the one who is in the world (Satan). We are never left alone and we never face what is coming onto the world by ourselves. We are the righteousness of Christ and there is power in His word.
I have wrestled between flesh and Spirit all the days of my Christian walk and used to really get remorseful because of it. I thought that when I was saved that battle would be over and I would only think pure and heavenly thoughts. But, the flesh has to be put to death gradually but firmly. Everytime we kick one bad thought or response out the door, along comes another one that we didn't even realize existed. We can't lose heart over it, but I did, because all of it is a continuing process and in the process we become to rely on God's Holy Spirit more and more.
There is a distinct difference between being tested and sinning. It is all trial by fire; the fire of the Holy Spirit burns up the fleshly passions and thoughts because of the purity of the one who indwells us. I don't give Sen. Obama the right to exercise authority over my Spirit man. He only has the power that I grant him as regards my being. I could give you a very good example of what happened from the first time I heard him speak after he announced his candidacy for president. But is he should become, and I don't believe he will, president, then I am commanded to submit my will to him. What is my will? My obligation to obey the laws of the USA. He is obligated to do the very same thing and if he doesn't then those same laws will be the ones put into place to chastise him.
We only have a short time to pray for this election and from the looks of the crowd at the court house today, we best get to the Father's business pronto.
Love you all,
Grany
Anyway, he's posted two entries about resisting sin, titled Resist and The Desert of Temptation. One point I like in the "Resist" entry is that we want our resistance to temptation to be nice and neat, like a piece of notepaper ripped away from the notepad. The truth is, we need to rip the paper from the notepad any way we can, and it doesn't matter if it's "neat" or not.
Just a thought.
I felt led to take Holy Communion this evening.
Added to prayers of Intercession for personal petitions, and prayer for our nation.
Also pray for mercy for America. We don't deserve it. But, perhaps God will save our land for the righteous who live here.
Bring God into rememberance.
And expect God to act on our (the body of Christ) behalf.
This isn't a time to sit on our blessed assurance.
Remember to go with God, and He will go with you.
May there never come a time, that God can't bless America.
And continue to remain in a spirit of prayer. Because this should be a season of prayer for us all.
If there is no other reason to share than this one, then so be it. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and a sound mind. Now, what are you going to do with it? Does a bomb have to drop on all of our heads in order for our attention and dependence on Father's love and protection to start making an impact on us all?
Read again what Joyce posted just a bit ago about the disarray of all the leaders in this present time. I have been around for a very long time and I have witnessed some very deadly periods of history that were begun as lulls. One of the most apparent ones was World War 2; we were the sleeping giant that Japan awakened but there were some very intune people who were very much aware of the dangerous times that existed. I remember the calls to prayer and yes, there were fire and brimstone preaching taking place all over this country but people loved sin and ease more than they did the call of God to prayer.
What does this have to do with our days? We are living in the same atmosphere that existed then, only worse. Now countries and religions openly express the great desire to destroy all things that are good and that represent Yahweh! Will reality ever set you to praying and seeking God's face in "Oh, God, what am I to do? Where are you Father when I need you deperately?" What if he comes back at you with "where were you when I called you to prayer?"
There is a perfect storm coming and it will not be the earthquake or tsunami kind that comes from nature. It might be that later but right now it is a storm of evil about to overtake the contented and unattentive believers. Go get your lamps filled with fresh oil and be sure to trim your wicks.
HI Folks, just checking in..its been a busy couple of days.
Happy Reformation Day!
I wonder if that earthquake was in fact a nuke test (or brought on by a nuke test), or if Iran was just bullying people into thinking so.
jim.carroll said...
Shalom, all! Just some quick comments:
Jib, the garlic chicken should be OK. At least I hope so -- I LOVE garlic chicken! I've got a recipe around here somewhere for a soy-garlic chicken (I think). It smells horrible when cooking it and looks like a pool of diesel fuel when you pull it out of the oven, but when you take a bite OH MY DEAR AND FLUFFY LORD THIS IS GOOD GIVE ME MORE! I'll see if I can find it.
As for the strange dream; weren't you still getting over a sinus infection and bronchitis when you had that dream? Maybe that was your mind's way of casting out illness. Assuming your dream started at the front side of your house, you wrote, "i then found myself (in my dream) on the opposite side of the house...". If that was in the back part of your house, you expelled Satan starting at the back of your house (back of your head) and moved room by room (sinus by sinus) casting out Satan as you went along, until you reached the front of your house (front of your head). Are you feeling physically better since that dream?
Donna, Shalom! I don't think that earthquake in Iran was a nuke test. For one thing, the signature of an underground nuke is different from an earthquake. The Institute of Geophysics at the University of Tehran might be able to fudge the data a bit, but geophysicists all over the world will be reading their seismographs and going "Huh?"
For another, the location is off. The epicenter is less than 100 miles from three other countries. To test-detonate a nuclear device so close to an international border goes WAY beyond taunting. We're talking some very Islamic countries asking the US how fast we can get bases set up and restocked in the area. (I think we still have that airfield in Dubai.) Plus, the location of the quake's epicenter is almost 20 miles down. Like I said, maybe Tehran can fudge the data a bit, but depth is not one of those things easily fudged.
And third, there's the magnitude. 5.0 is BIG. Read some of the reports, interviews, etc. of people who lived in Nevada during the underground testing years. None of the tests generated as much damage as a 5.0 earthquake. If they had, I'm sure Los Vegas would have noticed and raised an objection or two.
No, when Tehran is ready to test their nuke, you can bet that it's going to be in a location both very remote and closer to the center of the country.
Campsmore, Shalom! Thanks for the links! That tuna fish lamp is pretty neat. I'll have to start buying tuna in oil now.
I'm going to try that "glass bottle oil lamp" this week, using a small salsa bottle. One tip I picked up from other sites is to salt the wick. Get your wick material wet, salt it heavily, then let dry. The salt cuts down on the carbon build-up on the wick, making it burn cleaner.
The Queen of Heaven
TGIF Today God Is First Volume 2, by Os Hillman
11-01-2008
"The children gather wood, the fathers light the fire, and the women knead the dough and make cakes of bread for the Queen of Heaven" (Jer 7:18).
If you want to change the spiritual climate of your city you must address the principalities that rule that city. Such was the case for the apostle Paul when he went to the city of Ephesus. There was a territorial principality that was worshipped by the people of Ephesus named Diana of the Ephesians (also known by her Greek name, Artemis). The people gave money to this false god and it strongly influenced the economy because of this. The city was also the center for magic and the occult.
Her temple in Ephesus was listed as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World - the most outstanding and opulent example of architecture in the whole city. Her followers called her "magnificent," "great goddess," "savior," and "Queen of Heaven."
Paul preached in Asia for two years and had great success confronting this territorial principality. Paul began to neutralize the Queen of Heaven's power so much by the gospel that the common people began to notice. They not only stopped worshipping and sacrificing to her, the silversmith's who were manufacturing idols were going out of business, so they staged a public riot. They filled the huge amphitheater and shouted for two hours, "Great is Diana of the Ephesians" (Acts 19:34).
Many who were converted burned all of the idols and magic books. "When they calculated the value of the scrolls, the total came to fifty thousand drachmas. In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power" (Acts 19:20). Based on the U.S. economy today, the pile of magic paraphernalia that was burned would have been worth four million dollars!*
In order for you to impact your city you must identify and break down the ruling principalities that may be hindering the gospel there. The more common principalities in the western world would include the religious spirit, the spirit of mammon, pride, and freemasonry to name a few.
Ask God for wisdom and discernment as you prepare to deal with your local and regional principalities.
Late Night Lisa said...
I wonder if there is a principality of "stupidity"?
There is a friend/family that loves our kids & they are very Demo, Liberal,@ Socialist type.
(Only one of the 4 works if that is any indication. And the one "normal" one is gay.) Anyway, I still like them & try to remain friendly.
The mother's name is Denise who I used to share an office with & have been attempting to show her Christ but to no avail. The whole family atmosphere would be difficult in it's self to overcome as none of them are Godly type people. Just your "good" average type of American. Denise was raised a Catholic & the only thing she misses is the "mantras" & praying the rosary.
So I would covet your prayers for Denise & her family because if there is ever any chance of any of them wanting to seek God the gates of Satan's blindness & barriers would have to broken down.
Neither Denise nor her husband is in the greatest of health so she does have the prospect of death & the front of her mind.
Anyway we had a conversation today about the Girls and how they talk to them about Jesus, Heaven, Hell & the rest. Especially Lorraine. She told me Lorraine was so good she might end up a preacher.
So whenever the girls go over to their home they get a dose of the truth weather they like it or not.
Denise said athough they don't agree & feel differently about it they would never communicate that to them.
Denise admitted today that she knows there is evil but does not believe in the Devil. She's always had a thing about the "devil" and would just "rather not think about it & stick her head into the sand."
She said in Catholic Catechism they really didn't bring up that topic either.
I brought up a couple points about "hell" & the devil but as usual she always goes back to "You have your beliefs & I respect that but I don't believe it."
So is this the principality of "disbelief" or "stupidity"?
Which ever one it is it's a very powerful & stubborn one.
Who can look death in the face yet have no desire to even find out weather "hell" the "devil" & God are real or not. That to me would be much scarier than sticking my head in the sand. She's just convinced herself that it's not real.
Really sad.
Second costliest campaign? Gay rights in Calif.
Since leaders of the Utah-based Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints appealed to members to back the ban, Mormon dollars and volunteers have streamed into California.
California Roman Catholics, at the urging of bishops, also have stepped up with money and manpower, as have evangelical Christians.
Gay couples are expected to begin marrying this month in Connecticut, the third state after Massachusetts and California to allow same-sex weddings. The Iowa Supreme Court is set to hear arguments in a similar case next month.
"Those dire warnings about the end of the world as we know it (if gays marry) just aren't coming true."
Great Grany 5 said...
Lisa, if you want to experience Perry Stone in person, get your church to invite him to speak there. I love his teaching and preaching. In fact, the DVD that I am now involved in is The Rapture and the Law of First Fruit and it is excellent. What I like about that is I can replay numerous times and take notes until my fingers ache.
His book on the 40 days of Fall Feasts is excellent too. I don't the correct title because I loaned it to my best friend's husband and he is devouring it. This man is a total agnostic and a real pain in the solarplexis (rear end)but Perry has caught his profound attention and that is all he can talk about. Not in a sarcastic manner but he is actually excited about learning the truth of the gospel.
Don't ever give up on reaching anyone. Pray for the Holy Spirit to lead them to you and open their heart, ears and eyes to the gospel. Before I was saved, I had a terrible attitude about all of this. It was the firm conviction of the Holy Spirit that roped me in and I look back now and I am terribly embarrassed about it.
Right now I am going through some rough times that are beyond my control. My ex-husband and the father of my daughter and son, is very ill in the hospital in northern Missouri and his prognosis is not good at all. He has some very serious medical conditions and hasn't taken the best of care over years of crazy "I don't care" attitude. Now they are not expecting him to live and his vital organs are shutting down. I can't go to be with my kids because my own husband is having eye surgery on election day and there are routines we have to perform prior to the surgery. I have always promised my kids that I would be there for them but it wasn't to be.
I would appreciate your precious prayers for X named "Spanky" and his wife Helen. My kids are Becky and J.C.
Love to you and people, I feel so much better having voted. It is unbelievable the relief.
with all the parallels talked about recently between the US and German and comparisons of Hitler we now have BHO calling for a "civilian security force" with powers "equal to that of the military"
Civilian Security Force
consider this
a marine in Texas was visited by the "secret service" or more likely BHO volunteers trying to intimidate the woman over her views of BHO
1-"Secret service" visit woman over BHO
a man elsewhere hand delivered a letter to someone from church expressing why he wasn't a BHO supporter as she was and he was visited by law enforcement that same day and told if he didn't stay off her property he'd be arrested for criminal tresspass
2-More Law enforcement visits over anti BHO letters
it appears worker who did the research on Joe the plumber was ordered to do so. the woman in charge of the office who did the research is a BHO supporter:
3-Iwas told to investigate the guy
gee a civilian security force with powers equal to the military and even before the election there are some reports of over the top behavior from BHO supporters against people who express dislike for the "chosen one"
sounds like the SS to me.
Jib,
Thanks for posting the direct link. That will get me going!
Has anyone seen this Trumpet & Torch site? The graphics & wording are astoudiing.Following is from an email from the Trumpet & Torch:
Below is a prayer composed of their desperate prayers and the heartfelt prayers of the psalmist (because the Word of God does not return void these prayers are made up of His Word alone (Isaiah 55:11) - you may consider, because of its length, to pray through each section at different times of the day leading up to the election). May we consider carefully the motive of our hearts as we pray for our nation and our leaders. And may we not neglect our responsibility as believers to first seek the Lord with wholehearted devotion and then to be ambassadors of Light and Truth in this dark and fallen world!
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come to you with an offering of praise - O LORD, God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant of love with those who love Him and obey His commands; I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing to the LORD, for He has been good to me. I love you, O LORD, my strength. My tongue will speak of your righteousness and of your praises all day long. Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever. I will praise you, O LORD my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. For great is your love toward me. Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise. Splendor and majesty are before Him; strength and glory are in His sanctuary. The LORD is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. The LORD is my strength and shield; my heart trusts in Him and I am helped. In Him my heart rejoices, for I trust in His holy name. Praise the LORD, praise Him for His acts of power; praise Him for His surpassing greatness. Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. How awesome is the LORD Most High, the great king over all the earth!
"Sing to the LORD, you saints of His;praise His holy name.
For His anger lasts only a moment,
but His favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may remain for a night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning."
(Psalm 30:4-5)
We trust in your unchanging character - The LORD reigns forever; He has established His throne for judgment. He will judge the world in righteousness; He will govern the peoples with justice. The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. The LORD is King for ever and ever. His way is perfect; the Word of the LORD is flawless. The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it. All the ways of the LORD are loving and faithful for those who keep the demands of His covenant. How great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you. The LORD's unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in Him. the Word of the LORD is right and true; He is faithful in all He does. The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of His unfailing love. The plans fo the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations. You love righteousness and hate wickedness. You reign over the nations; God is seated on His holy throne. For this God is our God for ever and ever; He will be our guide even to the end. Cast your cares on the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall. Summon your power, O God; show us your strength, O God, as you have done before. You are forgiving and good, O LORD, abounding in love to all who call to you. You, O LORD, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. You are mighty, O LORD, and your faithfulness surrounds you. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you. From everlasting to everlasting you are God. Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The LORD is faithful to all His promises and loving to all He has made.
"O our God, the great, mighty, and awesome God, who keeps His covenant of love. You have been just; you have acted faithfully, while we did wrong. Our kings, our leaders, our priests and our fathers did not follow your law; they did not pay attention to your commands or the warnings you gave them. Even while they were in their kingdom, enjoying your great goodness to them in the spacious and fertile land you gave them, they did not serve you or turn from their evil ways."
(Nehemiah 9:32-35)
We cry out for deliverance from the pit we have dug for ourselves - O LORD, I call to you; come quickly to me. Hear my voice when I call to you. May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting of my hands be like the evening sacrifice. O LORD, the God who saves me, day and night I cry out before you. May my prayer come before you; turn your ear to my cry. I call on you, O God, for you will answer me; give ear to me and hear my prayer. For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield. My shield is God Most High, who saves the upright in heart. You are a shield around me, O LORD; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head. From the LORD comes deliverance. Deliver us, O LORD, save us because of your unfailing love. Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you. You hear, O LORD, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry. In you our fathers put their trust; they trusted and you delivered them. No one whose hope is in you will ever be put to shame. Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Hear my cry for mercy as I call to you for help, as I lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place. May your love and your truth always protect me. Surely God is my help; the LORD is the one who sustains me. I call to God, and the LORD saves me. Evening, morning, and noon I cry out in distress, and He hears my voice. LORD there is no one like you to help the powerless against the mighty. Help us, O LORD our God, for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this vast army. O LORD, you are our God; do not let man prevail against you. Deliver us so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you alone, O LORD, are God.
"Why should I fear when evil days come,when wicked deceivers surround me -those who trust in their wealth and boast of
their great riches?
But God will redeem my life from the grave;He will surely
take me to Himself."
(Psalm 49:5-6, 15)
We repent of our sins and our wayward hearts - Judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, according to my integrity, O Most High. O righteous God, who searches minds and hearts, bring an end to the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure. you are my LORD; apart from you I have no good thing. For the sake of your name, O LORD, forgive my iniquity, though it is great. I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, I will confess my transgressions to the LORD - and you forgave the guilt of my sin. Therefore let everyone who is godly pray to you while you may be found. O LORD, have mercy on me; heal me, for I have sinned against you. Have mercy on me, O God, according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you are proved right when you speak and justified when you judge. We have sinned, we have done wrong, we have acted wickedly. If I had cherished sin in my heart, the LORD would not have listened; but God has surely listened and hear my voice in prayer. Help us, O God our Savior, for the glory of your name; deliver us and forgive our sins for your name's sake. Why should the nation's say, 'Where is their God?' Restore us again, O God our Savior, and put away your displeasure toward us. May the LORD, who is good, pardon everyone who sets his heart on seeking God. May He turn our hearts to Him, to walk in all His ways and to keep the commands, decrees, and regulations He gave to our fathers...so that the people of the earth may know that the LORD is God and that there is no other!
"Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.Do not cast me
from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.Restore to
me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me."
(Psalm 51:10-12)
We recognize that Divine Sovereignty does not negate our human responsibility - The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. Who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill? He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart and has no slander on his tongue. My eyes are ever on the LORD, for only He will release my feet from the snare. Your love is ever before me, and I walk continually in your truth. Fear the LORD, you His saints, for those who fear Him lack nothing. I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart. My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge. Blessed are those whose strength is in you, who will set their hearts on pilgrimage. Teach me your way, O LORD, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. If you make the Most High your dwelling, even the LORD, who is my refuge - then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. Let those who love the LORD hate evil, for He guards the lives of His faithful one and delivers them from the hand of the wicked. Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who finds great delight in His commands. He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD. Teach me, O LORD, to follow your decrees; then I will keep them to the end. Give me understanding, and I will keep your law and obey it with all my heart. Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight. Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain. Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your Word.
"Sacrifice thank offerings to God,
fulfill your vows to the Most High,
and call upon Me in the day of trouble;I will deliver
you, and you will honor Me."
(Psalm 50:15)
We wait patiently, and expectantly, upon You - The LORD is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth. He reached down from on high and took hold of me; He rescued me from my powerful enemy...the LORD was my support. To the faithful you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you show yourself blameless, to the pure you show yourself pure. The LORD gives strength to His people; the LORD blesses His people with peace. Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD. The eyes of the LORD are on those who fear Him, on those whose hope is in His unfailing love. The LORD loves the just and will not forsake His faithful ones. O my Strength, I watch for you; you, O God, are my fortress, my loving God. May God be gracious to us and bless us and make His face shine upon us, that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among the nations. If we would but listen to you and follow your ways how quickly you would subdue our enemies and turn your hand against our foes. O God, do not keep silent; be not quiet, O God, be not still. Let them know that you, whose name is the LORD - that you alone are the Most High over all the earth. May the favor of the LORD our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us - yes establish the work of our hands. Because you love us you will rescue us; You will protect us because we acknowledge your name. Blessed is the man you discipline, O LORD; the man you teach from your law. The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
"You have rejected us, O God, and burst forth upon us;
You have been angry - now restore us! You have shaken the land and torn it open; mend its fractures, for it is quaking.You have shown your people desperate times..."
(Psalm 60:1-3a)
Lord, we offer our lives to you as a living sacrifice of praise and an offering to accomplish your good and perfect will. Prepare the way, guide our every step, direct our paths that we might not fail you but follow you wherever you may lead. May you find us faithful each and every day. Love the LORD, all His saints! the LORD preserves the faithful, but the proud He pays back in full. Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD.
"I will praise you, O LORD, among the nations;I will sing of You among the peoples,for great is Your love, reaching to the heavens;
Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;let Your glory be over all the earth."
(Psalm 57:9-11)
Baruch HaShem Avinu Elohim
We bless Your Name Father God
We do not make requests of you because we are righteous,
but because of your great mercy.
O Lord, Listen! O Lord, Forgive! O Lord, hear and act!
In the Name of our Most Holy Lord and Savior Jesus Christ we submit our requests before you now.
Amen.
guys and gals
I didn't mean to for folks to take my words that we couldn't talk about anything other than the election-it was just from my perspective and from the perspective of others there is so much riding on this election. the same arguments on the same subjects gets a bit old at times anyway and then as some were posting about happenings in the world such as Lori with her news posts or Grany with the insight born of age on times past it rather seemed like people just weren't getting how critical this elections is and that they felt life would go on unchanged and as before.
I have had the same problems reading some of Farah's commentaries at wnd.com. he talks about how we shouldn't vote for McCain because it would be against Christian principles as much as voting for BHO and how we should not vote or vote for a third party candidate and the regroup much the way we did after Carter with another Reagan. What he fails to realize is that the world climate is vastly different both geopolitically, economically, culturally and in just about any way you want to consider the world. I don't personally think that there will be a chance to regroup if BHO gets elected. I think we need to stop looking ahead and saying-well there's always 2012.
other than flat comments about the earthquakes not having been nukes in Iran for example no one wanted to speculate about what that could mean at this time
Well, Glory!
Lisa, that is truly a blessing and I thank you for taking the time and energy to copy it for us and posting it here. What a blessing.
People, I cannot see the election of Sen. Obama to the office of president and I have to share with you one more time, the relief that I feel so strongly after getting my vote cast on Friday. I have danced a jig, praised until the roof shook and Jim came storming in to tell me to cut the noise decimal down.
I have driven my car with the sun roof open, playing "These Are the Days of Elijah" by Judy Jacobs all over the country side. My impression is very strong that what ever we do, we are to praise Him and Worship him in the fullest possible ways and to let His Word reverberate all over the land. Yes! We can do that and now is the time for all good men (and women) to come to the aid of their country. You notice, I didn't say Party!
Love you all, and now going to enter into praise and worship of Abba.
Wow! A friend turned me on to a really neat video on YouTube. It's titled, sun miracle, face of jesus, voice of angel. You'll need to listen to it with headphones to catch it.
You need to read the full description of the video (click on the "more info" link under the poster's name) but in brief:
As this woman was driving home, she witnessed the sun changing color and moving. She stopped the car and started taping it. The amazing thing came after watching and listening to the recording. About 50 seconds in, you can hear a voice whisper, "Can you see love now?" Further listening found that same voice whispering "I love you" around 6 seconds into the tape. Others say they can see the face of Jesus as it appears on the Shroud of Turin in the brightness above the sun.
It took a few tries and a set of headphones for me to catch the voice at the 50 second mark, but now that I've heard it, I hear it every time I watch the video. It was only after that that I heard the voice at the 6 second mark, but I still can't see the face above the sun.
Anyway, I thought I'd post this here for any of you to check out and see if you can hear it too.
The picture was blurry I didn't see or hear anything. (I think I'd need headphones too.)
Today was a Spirit filled day in worship-even hubby felt it & that's saying something.
Have you ever had people faint & the alter call? Today I saw a nice young lady's knees buckle & she passed out. The came to & had a group of attendants surrounding her but eventually had to be carried off.
(We don't have any slaying spirit things going on-just prayer & singing.)
This is the 3rd time I've witnessed someone passing out in the past year.
I won't really be able to explain this well but also during the worship service there was an image-not really visual -really beyond describing but it was as if everyone in the congregation was standing before the Lamb in heaven lifting Him up with one voice.
We were all unified as one in those moments of time.
Proof that articulate writers can be totally naïve and lack objectivity. I wonder just how informed this person is of the issues around Obama and whether she really cares. This article is fairly typical of what we see in our media in Oz. Interesting comment at the end.
”So maybe my crush on Obama and the canvassing of Australian voters' intentions weren't so pointless after all. Perhaps the lesson that politicians the world over should take from polls showing that a majority of the world's citizens would elect Obama if we had the chance, is that it's not only Americans who long for a political leader who can inspire us with hope and infuse us with a belief in a better world. For it would seem that people all over the world, not just Americans, want to believe.”
Given half a chance, I'd love to vote for Obama
jim.carroll said...
Lisa, Shalom!
I agree, the picture is fuzzy, and it will take quite a few viewings before I see the face of Jesus. But as I said, after hearing the voice once I hear it all the time, headphones or not, and the sun is changing color.
Evening all,
Just read an interesting/thought-provoking article at IsraelInsider about the Obama birth certificate saga. Most of the scrutiny has involved whether or not he is a native-born citizen, but this article posited the possibility that it's not his birth location, but rather his birth father that's being hidden. And also whether his mother was possibly a foster mother. I knew I smelled something fishy with the sudden trip to Hawaii to visit the sick grandmother and then a few days later the vital stats dept. in HA announces that the original birth cert. has been sealed. Hmmmmm....
Our message in church today was about wandering vs. following in regard to the 40 years in the desert for the Israelites and how if they had taken a submissive bowed-head approach to God's plan rather than the stiff-necked approach, they could have been to the Promised Land in about a year. Pastor ended with a strong call for us to seek Jesus above all else this coming week and not put our hope in either party...don't be stiff-necked about His plan for us, don't wander needlessly because we won't trust Him to be faithful to His word. Matthew 6:33 has been at the front of my mind all week and I'm praying that all members of the body of Christ will heed that directive as well...praying praying praying and along with Grany, praising praising praising as well!
Good night all...
Blessings,
Jen
Jen, I agree with you and your Pastor's sermon.
My mother-in-law recently sent out an e-mail comparing the beginnings of Hitlers political career to BHO's. One of our cousins who is very liberal wrote back describing why she thought BHO was a wonderful christian man and full of hope and change and how we shuld not be afraid of him. Well, after trying to stomach that all afternoon, my husband wrote back. Mainly about how we can not put our trust in man, one side or the other, not in what the media tells us but only in the Lord and what the Bible tells us. Then and only then can we make a decision that whould be in line with what God wants for us and our lives and therefore our role in our country. We can't make a decision on information that comes from man/media/youtube but only through the information that comes from the Almighty Himself. He provides that for us through His Word His bread of life....the Word.
Whatever comes down this Tues. night my friends be ready with the Word because half of our nation will be devistated, disillusioned and distraught. Come Wednesday morning, we need to hit the ground on our knees praying, no matter who wins. If it is BHO we have an idea of how devistating that will be for our country......although I have a feeling we don't know just how jaw-dropping it will be. If Mccain is in, I know our local PD is gearing up for full riot combat manuvers. It's not going to be pretty. So I just want to say, don't let up on that prayer, prayer, prayer for our country. I think this November is going to be the bumpiest of rides.
However, remember do not fear, we have not been givin a spirit of fear. No matter how bumpy the ride our seatbelt is the Lord Jesus Christ, He willl never leave us or forsake us. We have proof of that right here in this blog of support to lift one another up, encourage one another and to find rest and comfort for those of us who get looked at like we have a third eye when we discuss these things in this crazy world of ours.
Be Strong in Him, the glory is His:)
Interesting how different parts of the country are feeling about this election.
Up here in the NE most folks will be devestated if McCain wins.
There won't be any riots or anything like that...but people will really be upset.
I agree....either way, it is all in God's hands. In Him we must all put out trust.
I'll be working at the polls all day tomorrow...should be interesting!
Late Night Lisa said...
Our sermon yesterday was along the same lines. Vote your conscience but at the same time don't put your trust in man.
If Mc Cain wins some Christians may sit back on their laurels again because "their man" once again got into office & everything is "fine".
If Obama wins that is enough to shake up and wake up the Church & Christians are less likely to become spiritually lazy.
So although it's ok to love your country & be patriotic-we can over do it & put too much confidence in the man who's elected rather than keeping our eyes on the Kingdom of God & our real King the Lord Jesus.
Just my 2cents- I voted McCain but I'm also aware that he is a "Globalist" and this aspect of end time events won't be stalled by his position in office although Obama would set it into motion & warp speed.
jim.carroll said...
Lisa, Shalom! I think it's a matter of how bad the chastisement will be, depending on who gets elected. If it's McCain, it will be limited to earthquakes, hurricanes, blizzards, and tornadoes. If it's Obama, it's all of the above plus some kind of nuclear attack.
Don't forget that there's also prop 8 being voted on in California. If that passes, praise G_D! If not, I'm going to see if I can get my family members out there to come back to Iowa for an extended stay. I'm hoping Iowa's reputation as a volcano-free zone will help.
There is a great mission field (& spiritual) battle in CA & I'm certain that He wouldn't return me unequipped to fight the good fight.
Lori, I have added Lisa's husband to my prayers for today. What ever the reason for this man's attitude and past behavior, I am praying that he have a close encounter of the real Christ experience.
Praying for Alesia's complete healing and restoration without the pain.
Jen, praying for your trip to family coming up.
I watched John McCain in New Hampshire last night on CSpan and I was encouraged by the people who were in attendance. After it was over, there was a relief too. Not everyone in New England is out of joint and radical. It was a wonderful thing to see people act like they had some sense instead of the ridiculous behavior that we have been exposed to previously.
I am still asking for your prayers for X. Seems the present wife is hell bent on cutting my kids out of their father's life. At a time like this, when there should be some effort at unity for the sake of the patient, the spirit of Wicca has taken over the step-mother. If you know me and I think you do, my old nature would sure like to take her for a lesson in manners (at least) but the Christ in me, and she should be on her knees thanking God for this, has arrested my carnal desires and has made it impossible for me to want anything other than His best for her. Now, people, I have to do what the Lord has said to do and leave it all with Him and in the process I have to pray for her well being and bless her. At this particular time, that isn't a very easy thing to do. This is where the Holy Spirit gets to take control and I am very thankful.
Love you all in Christ,
praying for your friend and her situation. colonoscopies are done for very few things to try and unblock them. depending on what is wrong your friend may end up with an ostomy (bowel outside the abdomen with a bag to collect contents) which some people view as very disfiguring and spouses can have a REALLY difficult time with it as can the patient. it does substantially alter body image and can make the intimate side of marriage problematic for those involved. it isn't the end of the world really and most of the time is completely reversible such as in a very young person with in sometimes a matter of weeks somewhere between 6-12. depending on what is going on in this relationship is he likely to be more abusive?
Lisa
well you can always come visit me, we will be close enough to drive to if needed if California slides into the ocean!
jib said...
what we should be praying for today
1-that we as individuals will be more sold out, abiding closer in Christ however you want to put it as this IS what is primarily important
2-so that we as the church corporately will be more effective in making disciples of our Judea and perhaps even our Samaria and in doing so we may be able to stop the erosion our our culture and redeem it for a time much as King Josiah did
3-that the election will go however God deems at this time. As Lisa said, perhaps a BHO presidency will be a rather rude wake up call for the church that time is short. and let's face it, at some point God is going to pour out his wrath on this nation as we have much to repent of (see #1 and #2 above). I agree with Jim C that regardless of which man there will be wrath but the degrees of it might be vastly different I think.
4-and for the aftermath of the election however it goes. The immediate potential problems that I see are
a.legal challenges to nullify election results for states-who then governs if there are enough legal challenges and perhaps orders to prevent electoral votes of states being cast. the prophetic implications being that if we are leaderless for any length of time as a nation we would cease to be of any influence in the world and of no help to Israel for certain.
b. Riots and great civil unrest if it doesn't go the way the populace wants for either candidate (keep in mind those white supremacist groups would be very unhappy with the election of BHO). even civil war. we've seen the pictures of elections that don't go right overseas could we be looking at something similar here? I might be working over time. we thought Katrina was bad-can you imagine what mass riots would do to the law enforcement and health care systems in this country? this also has prophetic implications. what happens when we are so busy with our internal problems of civil unrest-we aren't going to be of any help to anyone else. we simply won't have the resources our economic and military resources will be gone-drained by the aftermath of caring for those in mass riots, putting down mass riots, trying to rebuild infrastructure after mass riots etc.
c. if BHO does not win the electoral college will be a thing of the past, since no schools seem to actually teach civics no one realizes how vital this is to how our country was intended to work, and the next president in 2012 will be elected by California, NY and Mass.
from Chuck Norris' commentary today
Twas the night before the election
And all through the town
Tempers were flaring
Emotions all up and down!
I, in my bathrobe
With a cat in my lap
Had cut off the TV
Tired of political crap.
When all of a sudden
There arose such a noise
I peered out of my window
Saw Obama and his boys
They had come for my wallet
They wanted my pay
To give to the others
Who had not worked a day!
He snatched up my money
And quick as a wink
Jumped back on his bandwagon
As I gagged from the political stink
He then rallied his henchmen
Who were pulling his cart
I could tell they were out
To tear my country apart!
'On Fannie, on Freddie,
On Biden and Ayers!
On Acorn, On Pelosi,
He screamed at the pairs!
They took off for his cause
And as he flew out of sight
I heard him laugh at the nation
Who wouldn't stand up and fight!
So I leave you to think
On this one final note –
If you don't want socialism,
GET OUT AND VOTE!!
From Spurgeon on prayer
""Behold, he prayeth." —Acts 9:11
Prayers are instantly noticed in heaven. The moment Saul began to pray the Lord heard him. Here is comfort for the distressed but praying soul. Oftentimes a poor broken-hearted one bends his knee, but can only utter his wailing in the language of sighs and tears; yet that groan has made all the harps of heaven thrill with music; that tear has been caught by God and treasured in the lachrymatory of heaven. "Thou puttest my tears into thy bottle," implies that they are caught as they flow. The suppliant, whose fears prevent his words, will be well understood by the Most High. He may only look up with misty eye; but "prayer is the falling of a tear." Tears are the diamonds of heaven; sighs are a part of the music of Jehovah's court, and are numbered with "the sublimest strains that reach the majesty on high." Think not that your prayer, however weak or trembling, will be unregarded. Jacob's ladder is lofty, but our prayers shall lean upon the Angel of the covenant and so climb its starry rounds. Our God not only hears prayer but also loves to hear it. "He forgetteth not the cry of the humble." True, He regards not high looks and lofty words; He cares not for the pomp and pageantry of kings; He listens not to the swell of martial music; He regards not the triumph and pride of man; but wherever there is a heart big with sorrow, or a lip quivering with agony, or a deep groan, or a penitential sigh, the heart of Jehovah is open; He marks it down in the registry of His memory; He puts our prayers, like rose leaves, between the pages of His book of remembrance, and when the volume is opened at last, there shall be a precious fragrance springing up therefrom.
"Faith asks no signal from the skies,To show that prayers accepted rise, Our Priest is in His holy place, And answers from the throne of grace." "
from Chambers
"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me . . . —Galatians 2:20
These words mean the breaking and collapse of my independence brought about by my own hands, and the surrendering of my life to the supremacy of the Lord Jesus. No one can do this for me, I must do it myself. God may bring me up to this point three hundred and sixty-five times a year, but He cannot push me through it. It means breaking the hard outer layer of my individual independence from God, and the liberating of myself and my nature into oneness with Him; not following my own ideas, but choosing absolute loyalty to Jesus. Once I am at that point, there is no possibility of misunderstanding. Very few of us know anything about loyalty to Christ or understand what He meant when He said, ". . . for My sake" ( Matthew 5:11 ). That is what makes a strong saint.
Has that breaking of my independence come? All the rest is religious fraud. The one point to decide is—will I give up? Will I surrender to Jesus Christ, placing no conditions whatsoever as to how the brokenness will come? I must be broken from my own understanding of myself. When I reach that point, immediately the reality of the supernatural identification with Jesus Christ takes place. And the witness of the Spirit of God is unmistakable—"I have been crucified with Christ . . . ."
The passion of Christianity comes from deliberately signing away my own rights and becoming a bondservant of Jesus Christ. Until I do that, I will not begin to be a saint."
The Syrian government ordered the school to close by the end of the week in response to a US military raid on October 26.
We went into the hospital, walked right by security without stopping, it was as if we were invisible. We got into the elevator and went directly to her room with no questions asked.
Lisa was glad to see us. She's running a fever over 101. She's got oxygen tubes and IV fluids and nutrition, and some weird tube coming out of her nose with green fluid in it. The "getting back in line" is a tactic that I wouldn't have though of. In a sense it would hurt Obama more than McCain, but if enough people get frustrated and leave that can be grounds for a lawsuit (because of course, it would ONLY be the Obama supporters who would leave after not casting a vote.)
Maybe we need to use purple ink rather than "I Voted" stickers.
Anne, Shalom! The think.MTV project is a way for MTV to justify its use of the airwaves, by "trying to get people to think about the world around them." My problem with the project is that when you go to think.mtv.com and click on the discrimination link, it's all about racial discrimination and discrimination against gays. In other words, if it isn't about race or gender, it's not discrimination.
Shalom, all! Grany, I thought you might be interested in this, since it looks to be in your neck of the woods:
Cavern owner seeks bidder to cave in to eBay sale
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Calling Batman: Cave owner Steve Rush has a deal for you. Rush, 49, is auctioning off the Mystic Caverns in the hills of Ozark Mountains on eBay. The 28-acre property in Arkansas includes a gift shop and three caves, two of which are safe enough for visitors.
The bidding starts at $899,900, cut from Rush's original asking price of $1.2 million.
Thanks, Jim C. The ads were chilling, weren't they, and well done. Funny, I suspect the producers think it will be people like me rounding up people like them, whereas I fear just the opposite!
Alesia, my thoughts exactly. Fasting today might also be a good idea.
BTW, good to see you, we've missed you. Seems like quite a few of us are quiet or missing lately.
Anne said...
That should be quiet, not quite.
Don't mind me, I just haven't had enough coffee yet.
I just went to vote and had no problems other than a lot of staring.
My only complaint was there were so many lawyers! I didn't even get into the building before they pulled me aside to verify I had an up-to-date license. I felt like telling them it was none of their business.
It was certainly more private than the primaries, and I was grateful for that.
I just voted (cancelled out my husband's vote!) and there were no lines. However, I'm in a tidy, well governed suburb and did not expect any problems.
I appreciate the support from this cave. My family is very issues oriented and right now I'm in the minority, especially since I am very reticent and sometimes overwhelmed by opposing views.
Just got back from voting. Glad to have it finished. Now, just the waiting. And praying.
Prince Charles appears via Halogram-Environmental meeting
*Did I miss something? I don't remember this one:
"In the many years in which the Prince of Wales has attended official functions he has never appeared quite like this. At the alternative energy conference in Abu Dhabi he was not exactly there in the flesh. There was no video link either. "
"Instead, delegates were treated to a full-size, walking, talking, fiddling hologram of his royal highness, who made a brief speech then vanished back into thin air...
Hey-did you guys see this tonight?
CNN's Election Night PlansAdding to what promises to be one of the most technologically advanced events in CNN's 28-year history, CNN will enhance interviews with remote correspondents and guests using hologram projection. The network has built sets powered by hologram technology at both campaign headquarters making it possible to project three-dimensional images into the Election Center. From the New York set, anchors will exhibit more natural conversations with newsmakers and CNN correspondents in the field by interacting in real time with their 3-D virtual images.
Evening all,
We voted today - no lines in our small town so it went quickly. Now the nailbiting :-)
Lisa, the hologram stuff reminds me of ObiWon Kenobi in the Star Wars movie when he appeared to Princess Leia. I just saw a toy today that turns any object into a hologram. My little guy would love it...
Jib,
Your business proposition reminds me of how we bought our current house. 4 years ago we were living in a twin and quite happy there...we had put alot of work into upgrading windows, roof, kitchen, etc and figured we'd stay about 8 years or so and then find a single-family place once we had some kids to fill it with. We went to see our financial guy for a routine meeting and he insisted that we consider moving pronto (housing market was nearing its peak). It came out of left field, but we talked it over and prayed about it, then decided to go for it. We ended up selling the twin for more than $25,000 more than our asking price and our offer on our current house was accepted the day the house went on the market. That was August. We moved in October and the following month found out we were having triplets :-) 6 months later, just after the kids were born, my husband was offered a great job with his old employer and he took the position. Within months, his old company folded the regional office where he had been working. We look back on those 2 events and know without doubt that God was orchestrating provision for us...a better housing situation and job security...when we had no inkling of the needs we would soon be faced with. Every time I'm tempted to worry about things I can see coming on the horizon, I remind myself of those examples (and others) and it calms my spirit.
Blessings,
Jen
