From my Utmost for His Highest

"We do not need the grace of God to withstand crises—human nature and pride are sufficient for us to face the stress and strain magnificently. But it does require the supernatural grace of God to live twenty-four hours of every day as a saint, going through drudgery, and living an ordinary, unnoticed, and ignored existence as a disciple of Jesus. It is ingrained in us that we have to do exceptional things for God—but we do not. We have to be exceptional in the ordinary things of life, and holy on the ordinary streets, among ordinary people—and this is not learned in five minutes."

I love listening to my praise and worship music on youtube and I have had a feast this evening. Then I happened to click on a video of Donnie McClurkin addressing a Gospel Singing occasion where he was one of the songsters. He then addressed the crowd about homosexual life styles and then they presented Obama's response.

People, this man is trying to run a campaign that is far from the truth and his goals are all to apparent if you will listen to his remarks. Go to Youtube and listen for yourself. Then you will understand why I feel a very serious desire to just Pray, Pray, Pray!

It is not time to sit at home and dismiss the seriousness of our times and we will all be accountable to a mighty God for our actions.

I got your message and it was a knee jerk reaction to a rather fast read but I suspect that he was writing about the coming fall of Israel. however if you read the book with today's headlines in mind it rather does read like them. I'm very tired after today so when I have the time to go through and pick out the individual verses I promise to post them with my reasoning. Also,
I have a commentary that is solely a prophecy commentary and I want to read that before I comment. I think Hab 3:6 for example seems to refer to what has been described as happening when Christ sets foot on earth.

Grany

you are so right. most of what I wrote on the last posting was something I more felt directed to write-about the number of righteous etc. I just feel in my soul and spirit that this election is of overwhelming importance to the point I really can't explain it. at times it is like my soul is groaning and I just want to scream at people to wake up and take notice and heed but they seem oblivious, going about their daily business like it doesn't matter.

this quote from movieguide.org on the movie "W" sums it up quite well

"Left-wing tyrants in the mass media are pulling out all the stops to give the Democrats a leg up in this upcoming election. If the American people continue to accept this mindless, biased left-wing tilt so docilely, then they will deserve the coming liberal, anti-Christian tyranny they may be getting."

I heard the strangest thing in Dillard's of all places-some clerk was telling some guy that there was actually more than one family saved in the great flood. This guy was claiming that there was another family who built an ark and God directed their boat to land elsewhere to help repopulate another part of the earth. we have alot of JW's in the area so didn't know if this was something they teach-could be LDS for all I know-any ideas?

There's been a setback...

Lawsuit Against Obama Dismissed from Philadelphia Federal Court

Apparently the decision was handed down at 6:15 Friday evening. The decision basically says that Berg has no standing to file the lawsuit. We don't have national or direct elections, we elect the people who elect the president. Until or unless Congress passes a law giving individuals the right to request proof of eligibility from the candidates, then individual do not have standing in the courts to file suit to force the candidate to do so.

Berg is going to appeal, all the way to the Supreme Court. However, at this stage, the ball is in the State's courts. Since each state Attorney General is responsible for that state's elections, it is up to the state's AGs to request or require the candidates to produce the proof of eligibility. There are about 7 lawsuits going on now in different states asking the courts to require that state's AG to do so.

Jib,

The Noah's ark theory is not a JW one unless they added it but probably not. (That's new to me-other religions also believe in a flood-so maybe something other a Christian offshoot?)

Praise the Lord for this one.

Our pastor just returned from the Chuck Missler conference because he was invited as one of the guest speakers.

(The conference rubbed off on him! he he with glee!)

My main gripe w/this Church is the lack of prophetic teaching-I always feel like a lone ranger in the midst of the congregation. Who knows-there are probably more like me around & just don't know it.

Anyway-some of the information coming from this conference had definitely caught his attention.

One I thought you would find interesting is that a former Israeli (CIA type) speaker said that Achmadinijad has cancelled all his public speaking appearances recently because he is in bad health with REALLY LOW blood pressure.

Israel has been doing their fly over missions over a different area but the same distance to Iran in their practice sessions & are doing very well. It's well known it's not a matter of "If" they are going to strike Iran but "when."

Russia has lost 70%? of their wealth in the stock market crash & are selling everything & anything for $$$. One of their biggest resources is Iran.

Our pastor even mentioned
Ezekiel 38/39 looking more feasible when viewing @ how current events are lining up.
**And this is coming from someone who does not preach doom/gloom as he calls it. (We don't see it as doom/gloom! It's called Come quickly Lord Jesus!)

He has recently spoken w/some congressman who mentioned to batten down the hatches. Get out of debt & tighten in the reigns-we are in for some challenging times.

Philippians 4:11-13 Not that I speak from want; for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me."

Also-at this conference they mentioned that last year when things were not yet as shaky there were seats available. This year they are completely full & had to turn people away.

So- this time is a great time for harvest as people are looking for answers. Now is the time to reach out even more so as hardship & insecurity tends to make people more receptive to the gospel message. Be equipped and go forth & do the Lord's work. There is nothing for us to fear as Children of God & others will see the light of the Lord through our examples of remaining steadfast upon the Rock of our salvation.

He also met a pastor from Toronto who said the last 4th of July they spent in prayer for the US. They even see the spiritual warfare within our country & are concerned for our nation.

Anyway-this has been an answered prayer for me re: this pastor & Church & I'm so relieved to see this pastor respond to the "times" before we leave & head back west.

(Now if they would only get rid of the Shack & Purpose Driven books-oh well. Hopefully they won't effect anyone spiritually since the pastor is not preaching any of the nonsense they contain.)

This keeps popping into my mind:Waiting on the Lord when I think of what's ahead of us. **glad I reviewed it & all the implications.

**Our pastor mentioned Psalm 27 as being his favorite.

These two verses are replaying in my mind, over and over (though I think about it as a spiritual battle, not physical as it was originally intended):

Nehemiah 4:14 ...Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awsome, and fight for your brothers, your sones, your daughters, your wives and your homes.

1Chronicles 5:20...for they cried out to God in the battle, and He granted their urgent plea because they trusted in Him...22...because the war was of God.

I find this very comforting during this election. Regardless of the outcome and the consequences of either choice, God is in control and the war is His.

Nate
I am sending that video to my kids and grandsons. Thank you for the link.

As you all know, I have been doing a lot of very serious praying for the past 7 months about our nation and our politicians. I can't seem to get the 2 Chronicles 7:14 message out of my heart and mind. Every time I would go to pray that passage just got bigger and bigger for me and the burden for this nation right along with it. The conversations that we have had in the past, even as far back as Joel's, where we shared about the need of having emergency supplies on hand and ready for what ever came at us like a jet plane. I am not basically a fearful person and I have learned that allowing fear into my heart robs me of my fellowship with God. So, I laid that one to rest by applying good ole common sense to the issue. Get what we need and add a little more because around here, weather can be a fearsome thing to cope with.

This morning when I woke up, all of those concerns and burden were gone! All of my concerns about the election are gone and also about the financial health or sickness of the world. I have not felt this free for a long, long time. I was reminded that My Abba never slumbers nor sleeps, never loses touch with our existence and still knows the number of hairs on each person's head. He watches and protects the sparrows and guards against all manner of evil activity. His Angels stand watch and guard each one of us and my only concern is to keep myself under the safety of his Arms. To hide myself in His Shadow.

We have lifted our hearts and minds in prayer to his mighty protection and his perfect will. We are to keep praying for our nation, leaders and the salvation of souls but we are now in the hands of a mighty God and the battle is his but the victory is ours. Hosanna!

Now comes the time for the Praise and Exulting His Holy Name. During the rebuilding of the Walls or temple in Jerusalem, can't remember which, the Jewish people were being tormented by Sanballat and his cronies. The leader of the Jews and I am thinking it was Nehemiah, formed his defense force and lead them out with the praise and songs of worship. The enemy was driven back, the Jews overcame the threats and victory was achieved because God was with them in greater number than the enemies who were against them.

We have no idea the battles ahead but we know who is Way ahead of the Battles. No plans of the enemy have any right or power over us and we are kept until the day that the Lord's command takes us up, up and away.

Love you all,
Grany

I have to add a note to my comments. I started that comment at 10 a.m. CDT and it wasn't finished until 1:25 CDT. So, my point, look at the comments after Nate and draw an outline of the topics.

Lisa with her praise report and progress noted on her pastor's new influences. Along with the the hope of a great change in focus. Then Anne mentions Nehemiah and 1 Chronicles which relates to that battle.

Don't try to tell me that God isn't directing our comments for His Glory. Come on people, let's praise the Lord for all of his Greatness is made manifest in our praises. No one else deserves the praise and what we contribute here should bring Him Glory all of the time. If there be any good in any of us it is because of God's goodness and grace.

"I've eaten so much crow,
it's starting to taste good now!"

I need to read the book of James more, though. It says a lot about the tongue.
A good read!

This IS the day that the Lord has made, We WILL rejoice and be glad in it :)
Amen.

Hi Jim C.- some time ago you posted:

There was a thread a couple of weeks ago about Zechariah 1:7 -- "In the second year of Darius, on the twenty-fourth day of Shebat, the eleventh month, the word of the LORD came to the prophet Zechariah, son of Berechiah, son of Iddo, in the following way:" Then, in verse 12 it says: "Then the angel of the Lord spoke out and said, "O LORD of hosts, how long will you be without mercy for Jerusalem and the cities of Judah that have felt your anger these seventy years?"" Looking back 70 years from now, it turns out Kristalnacht, which is considered by historians to be the beginning of the Holocaust, was about 70 years ago. In fact, the beginning of the 70th year since Kristalnacht is on Nov. 13 of this year and will go on until Nov. 2 of next year. During the 70th year the L-rd will turn to Jerusalem in mercy and again choose Jerusalem. So IF the 70 years of anger against the cities of Judah (i.e., the lands controlled by the Palestinian Authority) is the 70 years between the beginning of the Holocaust and now, then we should see something happen in the PA starting around Nov. 13.

I believe it is now ‘next year’, and with the Nov. elections approaching I’m wondering if this will prove to be significant. Maybe it will mark the beginning of the end for Israel’s enemies. Hopefully the USA will not be among them.

No Jim G,

Never saw that one.(You can be my back up man.) My husband sent me a really funny spoof on that-it's a little crude-but you can only imagine what some people would do w/their checks that they never worked for.

We as the body of Christ are suppose to redistribute or wealth voluntarily to assist the poor,widowed,orphans,etc... And I suppose if more so called "Christians" were actually converted & were gifted w/the heart & compassion of Christ more would be done to assist this matter in our world.

There are definitely those who do have compassion & give when opportunities arise but the % of hearer’s verses doers is staggering.

So now we have Socialists wanting to force everyone into giving. The concept in & of it's self is not a bad one but many people don't want to be forced to give more $$ (as if the govt doesn't already get a fair share) to people & programs the govt. bureaucrats feel are important. We have already seen that what the majority of people of Americas feel & vote for can be overturned by just a few people in high offices.

You just can't help to think of the AC when the Bible states he gains popularity & adoration from this exact method of Redistribution of wealth.

That's enough of my soapbox-just thinking about this got me rolling right along.

portion of a note from Uncle Bob:

About the election, I agree completely. I think the outcome will give us a much clearer understanding of God's timetable. If McCain somehow pulls out a victory, the rapture might not be quite so near. If Obama wins, though, I feel that God is ready to finally enact His judgement on the world and the Gog/Magog war is at the door, with the tribulation to follow soon after.
Although I am naturally pulling for Obama's defeat because of the past love I have had for my country, I am getting more and more excited about the rapture and the Millennial Kingdom.
Actually, I will share a secret with you. Two nights ago I was in prayer, kind of discussing all of this with the Lord. I mentioned to Him that I could not truly pray for our nation anymore because of the 50 million baby killings, proliferation of homosexuality, etc. Out of the blue, His words came, and as always, they were shocking. What I heard was, "Don't worry about it. You are no longer covered by the American flag. You are covered by my blood."
In other words, God was telling me that my allegiance was not really to the US anymore, but to Him. I then asked Him, "Then what are we suppose to do?" His reply was, "Make sure your loved ones are saved. That is the mission for each of you."
In Christ eternally, Bob

His Vision, His Way, In His Timing
TGIF Today God Is First Volume 2, by Os Hillman
10-27-2008

"Then God said, 'Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about'" (Gen 22:2).

Have you ever wanted something so bad that you would do almost anything to get it? Have you ever gotten so close to fulfilling a dream only to have it disappear right before your eyes? Such was the case for Abraham.

God promised Abraham that he would be the father of many nations. He would have a son. However, Abraham panicked when Sarah aged beyond child bearing years and tried to help God by birthing Ishmael through Sarah's servant, who was not the promised son. Eventually, Isaac was born, who was the promised son.

However, God tells Abraham to sacrifice his only son on an altar to demonstrate his obedience to God. Truly, this is one of the hardest instructions given to one of God's people in all of scripture. It compares only to the Heavenly Father sacrificing His own Son. God intervenes and allows a lamb to take his place, symbolizing the Lamb of God as a prophetic sign of what is to take place in the future.

God often births a vision in our lives only to allow it to die first before the purest version of the vision is manifested. This has happened several times in my own journey. Oswald Chambers observes, "God's method always seems to be vision first, and then reality, but in between the vision and the reality there is often a deep valley of humiliation. How often has a faithful soul been plunged into a like darkness when after the vision comes the test. When God gives a vision and darkness follows, waiting on God will bring you into accordance with the vision He has given if you await His timing. Otherwise, you try to do away with the supernatural in God's undertakings. Never try to help God fulfill His word."*

When God's vision is finally birthed, nothing will stop it. Our job is to allow God to birth His vision through us His way and in His timing.

****Is this a confirmation of "Waiting on the Lord?"

He knows how excited we are for Him to make the next prophetic "move",Jesus to come back & the many prophetic implications happening all around us. It's enough to rile up anyone "watching." Now we are @ the tail end of the election cycle & try get too worked up about it but takes effort & continual spiritual re-adjustment.

Uncle Bob's advice is timely as well. I was just this morning of the friends I have back in SD &
how to reach them. I was wondering if I should be more direct w/the message of Salvation. Heaven/Hell-Jesus the only way-repentance & submission. So far the gentle worded approach has not visibly produced much of a reaction.

No one wants to drive a wedge between their friendships but Jesus did say His word would accomplish that very thing.

Now may not be hour to tip toe on the pansies. I don't know-but I guess I'm questioning exactly how we should be reaching people "at this time."

I know: "Wait on the Lord" & He'll tell me @ just the right time & place.

donna said...

Shalom, all! Sorry I've been away -- too many things to do and not enough time to sleep.

Jib, Shalom! The bit about a second family being saved in the flood sounds like a Sci-Fi channel movie that was on about a month ago -- "Monster Ark."

Donna, Shalom! Hitler was supported by the Evangelicals because he ran on a "God and Country" platform. The support evaporated in the 30's after his version of "God" became clearer, and ALMOST disappeared after the pagan nature of Nazism was revealed. The German version of the Farmer's Almanac replaced Christian holidays with pagan ones, such as "Yule" instead of Christmas, and this was carried over into the Hitler Youth. There was a plan to create a "Reichkirke" -- Church of the Empire -- which would have removed the Cross and all Christian symbols and stained glass windows from all churches (except "historically significant" ones), where the only things on the altar would have been the "sun symbol" (the swastika) with a sword to the right of the altar. It was the outbreak of WW2 that prevented this plan from being implemented.

Lightshine, Shalom! I'm thinking if "something happens" (i.e., an attack upon Israel) should happen around the 13th, it would happen after sunset on the 14th. That would be the beginning of the Sabbath, when everything in Israel shuts down.

I so wish you all could have heard the sermon from yesterday. wow. Did any of you, except Jim C, remember that Oct 31st in addition to being Halloween is Reformation day? it is the day that Martin Luther posted his theses on the door. so it being Reformation sunday and the day the pastor preached on the church of Laodicea the sermon was outstanding. plus we had a bagpiper and I love bag pipe music. strange but true. the irony of yesterday being reformation sunday is that my german ancestors fled Germany due to Protestant persecution since they were Catholic.

we had a church cookout yesterday and I spent the time talking with one of the elders of the church and we both feel the same-there is just so much apathy right now on the part of Christians or perhaps as the link to Jack Kelly said-so much self satisfaction that comes from prosperity that we forget Who gave us that prosperity that neither of us think that there are enough righteous. I mentioned a national day or prayer and fasting to him and he thought it was a great idea. wish I had thought to include it in the prayer requests.

I have not forgotten but between the picnic, making a Bible character costume for my son for AWANA wednesday night and carving a collegiate pumpkin, and having to find my commentary which had mysteriously disappeared I haven't had much time to look.

when I get pictures of the costume-he's going as the "whole armor of God" but not based on roman soldier costume but crusader knight and he wanted to wear his gold crown which he decorated with faux jewels so I guess that can be his overcomer's crown. not accurate I know but it will suffice since we found out about the whole costume thing about 5 days ago or so.

have a great day. I have to go sew cloth instead of people for a change.

Lisa, the Holy Spirit is the one who brings the unbeliever to the point of decision. We ask for God's guidance and directions but we live out our faith and love daily, in everything we do, say and think. If the Holy Spirit isn't leading you in sharing the gospel with the lost, then pray about it and wait on him.

JERI what wonderful news you have shared with us all. Adi is covered with the promises of the victory that Jesus gained for all of us. Keep the praise going and watch what the Lord does in your family. Including your hip!

I love watching the hand of God moving and bringing into fullness the precious provisions he has always had for each and everyone of us. The thing that separates us from the world is the Love and the Faith that He has placed in us. Oh, praise the Lord, all the earth. And if you don't the rocks will!

I listened to a youngman last night speaking about the times we are living in and he was very impressed that God would change all of this evil activity very soon. He was of the conviction that a lot of it is being deliberately controlled to give Obama the edge in the elections but God has not been removed from His throne and it is time for a heavenly surge.

Let's all pray that this thing be brought back into the time line of God's plans and that neither man or beast will have any further effect on any of it.

This young man addressed the US incursion into Syria and the Russians were advised prior to the attack. The US knew exactly who was doing what there and the whole thing was being shielded by people the press would portray as innocent but indeed were all contributing to the evil. Wait and see what that building was being used for and why it was the focus of the attack. The rest of the story will follow when the time is right.

There is much to pray about today and we best be about our Father's business.

Love you all

Shalom

Here is one part of the US attack equation that I just received from DebkaFile.

"Iraq accuses Syria of harboring insurgents who strike across border

October 27, 2008, 12:54 PM
Iraqi government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh Monday, Oct. 27, described the Syria site attacked the day before (in a US helicopter-commando raid) as the scene of activities of “terrorist groups operating from Syria against Iraq.” He said “The latest of these groups… killed 13 police recruits in an (Iraqi) border village. Iraq had asked Syria to hand over this group which uses Syria as a base for its terrorist activities.”

Be sure, this is just the start of the replies.

"A long time ago in the land of Oz, there was a great Prince who rode into Washington on a great white steed with banners and flags waving and the temperatures were very cold.  It was hailed as the Age of Camelot.  When he left he was carried out on a caisson with horses pulling it through the grief stricken capitol of the USA.  The flag was draped over his coffin and the rest were all flown at half-mast. The grief was pitiably shown on all of the TV channels that were alive at that time.  Tears were shed unashamedly and this man's family was the epitome of  grace and grief at the same time.  His sin?  He was too loved by a great majority but his sins were against a Holy and righteous God.

Anger was the undercurrent in our nation at the time and it seemed every day there was a new tragic death by an assassin.  Civil rights was the new cry and the south was in chaos.  Those were the beginning days of the great emancipation for our generation and there were riots but we lived through them.  The emancipation was from decency and common sense.  Sex, finding oneself, literal escapism from all of the tragic things in the world by drugs, and having more money than we knew what to do with.

Then we had the grief of Viet Nam and that was another excuse to riot.  Hell, no!  We won't go! was the cry of the young people of that phase of rebellion against Government and authority.  Then we entered into the ultra liberal mind set that has been put into motion by the demand that we send all of our young people to college.  The colleges became the bed rock of ultra liberal professors and the story goes on and on.  The liberal professors have had a feast at the table of liberal theology where God is mocked and right is held up to ridicule.  Knowledge became the new idol of worship and when men try to become like God, they do so with their minds.  Now with all of that, mankind has become disillusioned and also, demanding.  Disillusioned that even with their ultra high educations they are still struggling with the same problems and not getting anywhere.  When voices are raised to a shout it is most generally generating anger and anger is a power source all of its own.

Demanding, shouting angry voices are not going to settle for anything other than what they have been primed and prepared to have.  Self centered, demanding, and angry people who are suffering under a a spirit of delusion.  What in the world can anyone expect from them but storms and destruction.  They are being mislead by men and women who have a hidden agenda to change this nation from a Godly one to an abomination and as God loving people, we have to stand firm and have faith that God will win this one, out and out.  There will be riots if Obama doesn't win~~~ you can count on it and the leaders of the pack will be the political and media mouths who have been the major factor in bringing this nation to the point it is now.

Yes, I did have the night dream/vision of such a thing, as I shared with Marge.  But it is not set in stone yet.  We have a battle to win and it is all in the spiritual realm where we don't battle with flesh and blood but with the powers of the heavenlies and rulers of the power that has been allowed to ferment on this earth.  We Are The Ones Who Have Allowed It To Happen.  Who said we don't have the right to bring correction to the people responsible for wrong?  That person isn't reading the same Bible that I am.  We are not doing anyone any favors by being door mats and I for one, am sick and tired of that ideology.  When a child does wrong, do you pat him or her on the head and give them a cookie for good behavior?  Of course not!  You correct them and if you have to do the same thing again and again, you do so.  You don't allow the rotten apple to stay in the middle of the good apples.  Set them outside the door and shun them!

Glenn Beck recently has had something on his radio show about the "trophy" kids.  you know the ones that all got trophies regardless how they did? seems instead of them adapting to the real world, business owners are being told to adapt the way they do business to the employees needs.  Not in this century or the next. Good grief, where are peoples minds and whatever happened to common sense. The sins of the fathers are visited upon the children and successive generations.

So, you all now know why the President has authorized the Brigade of Regular Army to be on active duty in the USA to quell riots, protect during terrorist attacks and work in natural disasters.  I think it is a God given mandate from the get go to the president. We all need to stand with our president, whether you voted for him or not. God's word tells us to and my question to all of you, are you willing to stand up for the next president better than we all have for this one?

This scripture is from the Geneva Study Bible. It states it a little differently:
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will {e} heal their land.
(e) I will cause the pestilence to cease and destroy the beasts that hurt the fruit of the earth, and send rain in due season."

Could we all say Amen to the end of stupidity of thinking wrong deserves reward? I am sure you will find reasons to disagree but pray about it. Then ask yourself, is my attitude in line with the Word of God or do I need his judgment also.

I then asked Him, "Then what are we suppose to do?" His reply was, "Make sure your loved ones are saved. That is the mission for each of you."

That's what I constantly struggle with in prayer. My attempts at witnessing have been woefully fruitless. It's amazing how people will find unique ways of changing the subject when you raise Faith issues. It would actually be funny if it were not so serious.

May God touch the hearts of all our loved ones!

I think the whole Obama birth certificate fiasco is actually hurting the GOP. Some people have already made up their minds that Obama is THE man. My gut feel (for some reason) is that he's a legitimate citizen. Perhaps the reason for not producing a certificate is simply because those demanding one are being portrayed as mean and nasty in the media and it suits Obama's campaign. Did I read somewhere that McCain had to produce a birth certificate at some stage?

Now I have to tell everyone that the comment I posted regarding the elections (posted at 12:53 p.m. on 10/27/08) was in response to this article from Jan Markell's ministry, as follows:

The Angry Left vs. Middle America
by Gary Bauer

(NOTE FROM JAN: Gary Bauer was one of my guests at 'Understanding the Times 2005.' He is an excellent commentator on our times. This is taken from his End of Day Report of October 22. Sign up for this here.

Conservative candidates in my home state of Minnesota are literally under siege including my long-time friend Rep. Michele Bachmann. Gary tells the story better than I can so please consider his words and warnings.--Jan Markell's Olive Tree Ministries

The Angry Left vs. Middle America
by Gary Bauer

(NOTE FROM JAN: Gary Bauer was one of my guests at 'Understanding the Times 2005.' He is an excellent commentator on our times. This is taken from his End of Day Report of October 22.)

Conservative candidates in my home state of Minnesota are literally under siege including my long-time friend Rep. Michele Bachmann. Gary tells the story better than I can so please consider his words and warnings.--Jan Markell)

Gary Bauer begins: In past reports, I have warned that the 'angry Left' is not trying to win an election, it is trying to destroy the conservative movement. Once in power, it intends to use the force of big government to shut down Christian and conservative talk radio with the Fairness Doctrine. Pastors will be gagged by 'hate crimes' legislation. Religious liberty will be further threatened when a new liberal Supreme Court majority redefines marriage in every state of the union.

Liberal labor bosses will get sweeping new powers, including stripping the right to a secret ballot from workers. Radical left-wing groups like ACORN and Planned Parenthood will get more of your tax dollars to promote left-wing candidates and causes. And all the while, 'Big Media' will hail the 'new Great Society' as 'Joe the Plumber' is taxed to 'spread the wealth' for socialized health care and 'tax cuts' to those who don't pay income taxes because they won't work.

But before any of this can become a reality, the Left must seize power at the ballot box. ACORN has been doing its part -- working overtime to register new voters -- real and imagined, including Mickey Mouse and a dead goldfish. It's efforts have seriously gummed up the process and are creating chaos for elections officials and poll workers in critical states. (This week, all nine Republican senators on the Judiciary Committee have signed a letter demanding an investigation into ACORN's activities. Why aren't any Democrats concerned?)

In recent weeks we have received many messages from McCain/Palin supporters telling us that their yard signs have been torn down and ripped up. I have seen it in my own neighborhood in the Washington, D.C. suburbs. Today, there is a news report that the home of Minnesota Senator Norm Coleman was vandalized. His garage was spray painted with this ominous warning: 'You are a criminal. Resign or else.'

Yesterday five 'Code Pink' protesters interrupted a speech by Karl Rove and tried to handcuff him in a citizen's arrest for 'treason.' Did anyone try to arrest Harry Reid for saying the war in Iraq was 'lost?' Did anyone try to arrest John Murtha for calling our Marines 'cold-blooded killers?'

Now one Washington, D.C. news outlet is reporting that police departments coast-to-coast are 'preparing for possible civil unrest and riots' on election day. According to The Hill, 'Some worry that if Barack Obama loses and there is suspicion of foul play in the election, violence could ensue. Others based the need for enhanced patrols on past riots and also on Internet rumors.'

This is America, not some banana republic. We have been holding peaceful elections and respectful transitions of power for over 200 years. Yet, why are police suddenly worried about riots on election day? Who will be rioting? The angry Left. The same folks who stormed the streets during the Republican National Convention; who turn out to shout obscenities at our soldiers when they are deployed overseas; who regularly shout down conservative speakers on college campuses and who protest capitalism during major economic summits.

James Carville has already warned us that 'it would be very, very, very dramatic out there if Obama loses.' Carville said, 'A lot of Democrats would have a great deal of angst and anger.' Is that a threat?

Friends, I almost didn't write this article today. I worry that it might demoralize and frighten some of you. But we cannot live in a spirit of fear. Men and women of faith should not try to intimidate or shout down our opponents as the Left does. We should calmly, patiently, and respectfully talk to them. We should not try to handcuff anyone. We should pray for them. We shouldn't vandalize property. We should vote!

This is our country, too. We must not be intimidated. We have every right to be involved in the public process and to have our voices heard and respected.--Gary Bauer

NOTE FROM JAN: It is hard to see America splitting more and more into an almost irreconcilable divide. Christians cannot sit on the sidelines any longer; we must all vote, something which the greater majority of believers do not do. This election is historic and perhaps a turning point for this country.

While only a Theocracy under the reign of the Lord Jesus Christ will be an effective government, this is not an excuse for Christians to sit a lot of things out in the kind of apathy noted in the days of Noah. Civil government is God's institution and He is in control of government. (Prov. 21:1)

Try not to let our times get you down. Say with the Psalmist, 'I trust in You, O Lord -- Our times are in Your Hands' (Psalm 31:14-15). The events of the day -- including election results -- are serving His purposes.

Donna ,it's in Daniel about the AC
Read Chapter 11 & see what you think.

This is a quote off an article:

"Daniel 11:39, which reads as follows: “...and he (Antichrist) shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain.” Strong’s Hebrew-Greek Dictionary states that the word “divide” in the Hebrew is CHALAQ, and it is defined as meaning “to be smooth,” figuratively, and by implication, to mean “apportion” or “separate” in the sense of “distribute, divide, flatter.” Likewise, the Hebrew word for “land” is ADAMAH, and it means “soil, ground, earth,” and the Hebrew word for “gain” is MeCHIYR, and it means “price, payment, wages.” Therefore, the implication of flattery seemingly is involved in this distribution of land and natural resources by the Antichrist, including the possibility that the Antichrist may achieve considerable popularity by redistributing huge amounts of valuable natural resources to “less fortunate” countries."

Granny, Shalom! The phrase "Clear and present danger" comes from one of several Supreme Court cases determining the limits of free speech Here's a post I wrote about it elsewhere:

Originally Posted by Pier:

So is freedom of speech; yet "Freedom of speech does not mean you can shout 'Fire' in a crowded theater."

This famous phrase is actually a paraphrase of part of the opinion Oliver Wendel Holmes, Jr. wrote in the unanimous opinion in the Supreme Court case Schenck v. United States in 1919. The court case was to decide if Schenk's printing and distribution of pamphlets encouraging men to oppose the draft (this is during WW1, folks) constituted protected free speech. The court ruled that it was not protected speech, stating that this opposition to the draft during a time of war constituted a "clear and present danger" to the country. This test was modified in the case Brandenburg v. Ohio in 1969. The test is now "Imminent lawless action" -- If you are advocating a riot or advocating that members of a certain group be attacked, and there is "reasonable cause" to believe that this action will occur as a result of your advocating that act, then that speech is not protected.

In both cases, an absolute right -- the Freedom of Speech -- has been limited to prevent (in the eyes of the authorities) an even greater harm or evil. In America, an absolute right -- Freedom of Worship -- has been similarly limited: faiths such as Islam and Mormonism have been prohibited from practicing polygamy. A religion that attempted to practice human sacrifice (abortion excepted) would find its participants arrested and prosecuted. So what happens if (as has been attempted in Canada) opposition to homosexuality becomes defined as "hate speech"?

My point is that if the authorities (whomever they are) decide that certain teachings pose the threat of "imminent lawless action", there is precedent to have those teachings suppressed. The lawless action does not have to be violent, simply one that is forbidden by law.

Late Night Lisa said...

OK,

So if we preach the truth in the Bible and say Homosexual relationships are not acceptable to our Christian God & the Govt. creates a "hate speech" law what should we do?

(We probably can all agree it's looking more like we are heading that direction w/not only society in general but also w/the Ecumenical movement.)

Do we submit to the law of the Govt & keep quiet? Or do we preach truth regardless of the outcome?

We know from Biblical examples we do not worship another God & bow down to idols or statues no matter what the Govt says.

We have had so much freedom here it's hard to fathom but in other countries it's the norm. In China they continue in their worship but go "underground." I guess that's not exactly proclaiming the gospel on the streets.

What do you all think? What is the wisest way to handle it?

Great Grany 5 said...

Lisa, you become very discerning! But remember this, it was the persecution of the Christians in the early 1st century that caused the church to flourish. They moved from one place to another keeping ahead of the persecution and yet, they were willing to give their lives for the gospel and did. They met secretly just as the Christians all over the world have done since the time of Jesus death. The church underground drew bigger crowds than most of our above ground churches do today. Those people were serious and cherished the Word of God like nothing else. How many of us, right here at the cave, have ever done anything like that?

But, knowing all of this doesn't make it any easier to imagine the day will come when we can no longer openly worship and speak of God's love. But Jesus, his self, told us that the day would come when this very thing would happen. Paul told Timothy that men would be lovers of self, that brothers would turn against one another, and daughters against their mothers, etc. They would have a form of godliness but there would be nothing of God about them. In fact it says in 2 Timothy 3 that they would have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof. The power of God is the Holy Spirit and the Word.

So, we might have to come back to symbols like the early Christians did when they used the fish as the symbol of their faith. They would greet strangers with Maranatha to see if that person was a believer. They also learned to be selective in who they shared the word with. In other words, they relied solely on the Holy Spirit to guide them and direct them in their conversations. The day hasn't come yet when there is a famine of the word but it is coming. I always thought it would be that the churches would stop preaching the word of God and go strictly social but I don't think that way anymore.

I pray that I am wrong because there is a major lack of the gospel already and if it were to be completely abandoned, well, I don't want to think about it.

Thank you JIm for that update on the comment I made. There have been so many evil things done that 20 or 30 years ago would have been unheard of. Just think 30 years ago it was 1978 and how many of us know who the president was then without looking it up on the Internet?

Well, I'm a history geek so I probably don't count. I remembered now but only because I was counting back. I know Ford was president in '76 because I remember commentators commenting on how Nixon had been looking forward to being the Bicentennial President. Then Carter was elected in '76, followed by Reagan in '80, W in '88, Clinton in '92, and Bush2 in '00.

Of course, now I'm upset with myself because I can't remember if Nixon resigned in '74 or '75. I just remember being out on a sailboat with a really hot girl from work when it happened...

Before I retire for the night I have two funny antidotes. The start of the day was the "Wait on the Lord" word & Uncle Bob's "Spread the gospel message to your friends now as the time is short."

This morning out of the blue Melanie (who just turned 4) in
the back seat of the car telling me how her friend in California "Anika" doesn't read her Bible, go to Church much or know Jesus so she's going to tell her about Jesus & bring her creation Bible over to her home when we move back. (An evangelical in training)

Then as I just put Lorraine (7) down to bed tonight she was explaining to me (As she loves to "teach" & explain things) how God never breaks His promises & how Ishmael came about through the maid because they didn't wait on God for Sarah to become pregnant. I then mentioned that was an example of "Waiting on the Lord's timing & not rushing in to do our own thing”. Lorraine then brings up the return of Jesus. In words of wisdom she mentions in a collective sense that we should: "Just be quiet & shut your mouth until He comes."

That just cracked me up to no end. I told her she was very perceptive.

And tomorrow is a fresh new adventure! Good night.

Jim G., Shalom!

I was trying to remember by working out the timing, instead of looking it up. I know Nixon was re-elected in '72 -- Watergate was just beginning. That means he wouldn't have been sworn in again until Jan. '73. Simultaneous with Watergate were the investigations into Spiro Agnew, involving (if I remember right) allegations he took kickbacks from construction companies while he was Gov. of Maryland. These investigations proceeded to the point where Agnew resigned after pleading "no contest" to the criminal charges. This would have had to have been in late '73 or early '74.

This lead to the selection of Ford as the replacement vice-president. I remember at the time commentators saying that the Congress wasn't choosing a replacement VP, but a replacement President -- people were that convinced that Nixon was going to be forced from office. I believe this was spring of '74. The Watergate hearings took place in early summer of '74, with the resignation of Nixon (and that sailboat ride) taking place on Aug. 9, effective at noon ET on the 10th. I was 16 about to turn 17 and enter my senior year of high school.

I know you got your answer to Nixon's resignation. I remember that it was in August of 1974. It happened while my family was driving to California from Indiana to look at houses in preparation for our move. We stopped at a gas station and got to talking to someone. When we told him we were planning to move to California, he said something to the effect that Nixon would be living nearby. And that's how we found out he had resigned.

FYI-Spiritual warfare in SD,CA. (Coming to a neighborhood near you.) We get everything 1st in CA!

The article below is from Channel 10 News:

SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego City Council voted 6-2 Monday to oppose Proposition 8, a statewide measure before voters next week that would prohibit same-sex marriages.

Without explaining why, council members Brian Maienschein and Tony Young cast the dissenting votes.

Following 15 minutes of speeches on both sides of the issue, Councilwoman Toni Atkins, who married her longtime partner Jennifer LeSar last month, said same-sex couples deserve equal rights.

"The LGBT community members are taxpayers too. We are parents. Many of us attend our churches," Atkins said. "Democracy includes us too."

Councilman Jim Madaffer agreed, arguing that same-sex marriage is a civil rights issue.

"It really is wrong to deny civil rights to a person or group just because of what traditions might accept," he said.

Proposition 8 would change the California Constitution to eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry and would define marriage as between a man and a woman only.

Thirteen months ago, the City Council joined cities around the state in signing an amicus brief, or so-called "friend-of-the-court" resolution in support of gay marriage.

The California Supreme Court later overturned the state's ban on same-sex marriages. Those opposed to the court's decision put Proposition 8 on the ballot seeking to restore the prohibition.

"Paul Washer is founder of the HeartCry Missionary Society. While speaking as an invitee at the 2002 Youth Evangelism Conference in Montgomery, Alabama, USA, he addressed what he considers to be errors in American Evangelicalism, receiving a mixed response."

He was never invited back to speak to the group again but the effect this video has had with people viewing it on Youtube has surpassed any censorship that world has ever seen. I have watched it many, many times and it always has the same sobering affect on me. Of all the things I have forwarded to friends and family, this is by far the most constant one and they keep coming back for more. Especially my grandkids.

Question regarding Matthew 24:36

"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."

Is this talking about about the Rapture or the 2nd Coming of Christ (assuming these events occur at different times)?

Many pre-trib folks say that Matthew 24 was written to a Jewish audience who would still be here after the rapture of the saints. So, I assume they would say Matthew 24:36 refers to the 2nd Coming of Christ.

If that is true, is there any basis to say that we can't know the hour or day when the rapture might happen? What would that basis be?

Kathy, I hope your around for any discussion that might follow;-)

Hi- for all of you who looked at the fulfilled prophecy site- I posted the conclusion I came to that Daniels 70 week prophecy was in the form of a Chiasm. A Chiasm is one of the literary forms used in the writing of the Bible, the other is a Bifid. No other literary work in history is written in this way. The word Chiasm in Hebrew-kee ha zum- is pronounced ‘key the sum’ in English.
If Daniels 70 week prophecy is in the form of a Chiasm it would look like this: 7 ‘sevens’, 62 ‘sevens’, 1 ‘seven’, 62 ‘sevens’, 7 ‘sevens’.

The first 69 ‘sevens’ were from the building of the wall [444BC] until the Cross [33AD]. Mark Biltz discovered that the exact number of days in the first 7 ‘sevens’ was also the exact number of days from June 7, 1967 until Sept. 13, 2015-Rosh Hashana-also bracketed with the last two blood moon in the 2014-2015 tetrad. Joshua discovered that the number of days in the 62 ‘sevens’, counted from June 7, 1967 to Aug.25,1539, showed the time Suleiman rebuilt the wall of Jerusalem and sealed shut the East Gate.

To complete the Chiasm I placed the 1’seven’ in the middle of the 69’sevens’. After researching the history I found that it made a perfect chiasm, with the middle of the ‘seven’ bracketed with the year the Muslim armies conquered Jerusalem and the year believed to be the birth of the Mahdi. In the center of these middle years is the construction of the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa Mosque- which I am in agreement with many others are the abominations Daniel wrote about. The Hebrew word for ‘seven’ is a unique form only used in Daniel. It can refer to varying time frames and is not limited to the ‘day for a year’ formula.

The complete Chiasm, explanations and the math are posted on fulfilled prophecy. I post as Lightshine.

I have developed a timeline that may or [may not] occur in the next 6-7 years. I haven’t posted it anywhere – until now-

Jim G...I had to chuckle...I am more round than I would like to be, but I'm working on that!

Of course you know that I see Mt. 24 as the clearest rapture passage the Lord has given us. It's there, right in front of our eyes. He is describing His parousia, the event of His coming. Paul tells the Thessalonians that those who are alive and remain at the event of His coming will be caught up with those who have fallen asleep in Christ. Throw in all the "end of the age" references in Mt. which are for the church and I can't help but see Mt. 24 as a reference to the rapture and the second coming, a single event, and Jesus said no man can know the day or the hour, but He's given us signs to know the season.

I love Jn. 14:3: "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also."

Late Night Lisa said...

All right,

I have a question then.

Kathy-The 2nd coming is @ a pre-wrath point.

Skinheads held over plot to kill Obama

The prospect of an African-American president is bringing white supremacist subculture in the US out of the shadows In white supremacist circles, 14-88 is a shorthand expression of allegiance to the beliefs put forth by Lane and the Order, who wanted to found a white homeland where they could preserve the 'Aryan race' from being polluted by non-whites and enslaved by the 'Zionist-occupied government' of the US. Lane also advocated polygamy and a kind of European paganism he called Wotanism."

"The religion called "Wotanism" is an old German paganism, popular amongst Hitler's Nazi adherents. Hitler's favorite god was the Wotan god called Odin. Our calendar reflects this paganism, as "Wednesday" is named after Wotan."

Obama compares America to Nazi Germany

**We already know Obama is a reverse racist who will actually shove it down our throats if elected. This may actually cause a major social uprising that doesn't exist except for these Neo-Nazi, KKK types.

Maybe there is more reverse racism than I thought. What if when Obama is elected a major % of colored people come out of the woodwork with this black theology mindset?

The African American friends & acquaintances I know are all normal every day people. I wonder what they would be thinking?

Kathy,

I see it as you do. When reading the passage though, the question arose in my mind, "How do pre-trib folks view the statement regarding no one knowing the day or hour?"

Most folks agree that we don't know the day or hour of the rapture but if you are pre-trib and think Matthew 24 was not addressed to the Church, then you can't say the comment applies to the rapture. Yet, sooo many will quickly quote that passage as applying to the rapture while still maintaining that the rapture and the 2nd Coming of our Lord are two separate events.

So, how do my pre-trib brothers and sisteres in Christ reconcile this problem? (Warning: I don't think you can;-)

Kathy Hall said...

Lisa, Donna,

Jesus places the start of the tribulation, persecution against believers (and Israel), at the midpoint of the Week. This great, unprecedented persecution does not begin with the signing of the covenant which kicks off the Week. Jesus tells us that when we see the AofD, there will then be great tribulation, “mega thlipsis”. We know from Daniel the AofD is set up at the half way point of the Week. In Mt. 24:22 Jesus tells us those days of great tribulation, are cut short. The persecution against the elect is amputated, the Greek word is “kalabo.” It abruptly comes to an end or no believer would survive. It’s going to be a horrible time. What occurs next according to Jesus? The lights go out and He returns with His angels and gathers the elect. His return cuts the persecution short. The "mega thlipsis" does not run from the AofD to the end of the Week. Keeping in the context of the passage concerning His return and gathering of the elect Jesus says no man knows the day or the hour of His coming. It fits perfectly with His instruction that the days of tribulation are cut short. Somewhere before the end of the second three and a half years of the Week, the event of His coming amputates the persecution and He will receive us to Himself. That means there is still some time remaining before the end of the Week when He sets up His kingdom. What happens for the remainder of the Week? His wrath! If you go to Revelation 7, there is a whole chapter break between the 6th and 7th seal. At that point the 144,000 are sealed and you see the raptured church, the great multitude out of the great tribulation from every nation, right where they should be according to Jesus in Mt. 24 when you compare the lights going out in Mt. 24 with Rev. 6! Rev. 19, when Jesus appears on a white horse at Armageddon is not His appearance for His elect in Mt. 24. If you notice in Rev. 19:13 He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood. My understanding is that this is symbolic of the wrath He has been pouring out on sinful mankind after He raptured His persecuted church. Israel has been tucked away, protected in the wilderness. The 144,000 were sealed so they were protected also from God’s wrath. His wrath is complete at Armageddon and it is at that point then that Satan is bound.

Does this make sense?

Kathy Hall said...

The timeline for the Week would look like this:

Covenant begins the Week.
AofD occurs at Midpoint.
Great tribulation begins.
Cut short by Christ's coming and gathering/rapture.
God's wrath falls.
Ends at Armageddon.
Satan bound.
1,000 reign begins.

Jim G, here’s D Weimer’s view which I find interesting and which I’ve linked to whenever this question comes up. Hope it helps:

Mat 24 article by David Weimer

Is Matthew 24:31 the Rapture?

But when looking at the disciples’ expectations and original questioning of the Lord from a Jewish perspective, and comparing some of the OT prophecies, there is no question in my mind that the Lord was talking about the gathering of Israel in Mat 24: 31. Get a copy of Renald Showers’ Maranatha Our Lord, Come for an in-depth study. You have to reconcile those expectations with the OT promises. In fact, when I was researching preterism versus premillennialism, the preterists had a field day with Mat 24 drawing allusions to the destruction of Jerusalem in 70AD.

Matthew 24:31: Rapture Or Second Coming?

However, if the rapture really is included in this gathering, then the church is here until the end of the 70th week (posttrib). I’ve yet to see any viable justification for prewrather’s to interpret Mat 24:22 and Mark 13:20 as the Lord saying he’s actually changing the length of the GT.

Kathy Hall said...

Prewrath rapture dot com posted yesterday an article about the "cutting short" of the Great Tribulation.

Late Night Lisa said...

Kathy,

I understand your view a little better but what is the coming of Christ on the White Horse w/His robe dipped in blood from God's wrath called from the Prewrath perspective?

Pre-tribs call that the 2nd coming of Christ even though he would come for the Church before hand.

Your calling your rapture point the 2nd coming so what is this?
The 3rd coming? or ?

Alf Cengia said...

Thanks, Kathy, in fact I did read that yesterday. It's only pointing out the prewrath view yet it fails to provide evidence for interpreting the Lord's words in that way.

Lisa, one of prewrath's criticisms of pretrib is that it supposedly teaches more than one coming, yet prewrath does the same thing - as posttribbers point out.

donna said...

Well, I am not opposed to looking at different theories....but, I have been a pre-tribber for so long, it would take a lot to change my mind.

Jim G.,

I'm pretrib, and Matthew 24 is about the second coming and has nothing to do with the rapture.

Jesus speaks of not knowing the time and hour, and he compares it to the Flood in verses 37-41.

37"For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah.

38"For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,

39and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be.

40"Then there will be two men in the field; one will be taken and one will be left.

41"Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one will be left.

The ones remaining are the tribulation saints. The ones taken away are the non-believers, just as the non-believers (unrighteous) were taken away at the flood.

What's interesting is that we have a type of the pre-trib rapture in Genesis 7. God tells Noah (the only one found righteous by God), his family, and the animals to go into the ark, and after 7 days, the rain begins. I'm beginning to learn that God reveals His plan in many ways throughout the Old Testament, showing us patterns/types.

Late Night Lisa said...

Lori, do you have the link to the hypnotic info? I'd like to read up on that one!

Mac, I loved the "winepress" explaination in that link "is Matt 24:31 the rapture?" He did a great job explaining the "winepress" and how the rest of the unbelievers will be gathered where the "nations" are and executed @ Armageddon. The tribulation saints will remain to repopulate the Millennium.

During the campout this past weekend, I had the opportunity to discuss endtimes stuff with a couple (Bob and Janey) from my church.

Apparently, they have been reading this stuff for the last 5 years and every time they bring it up to others, they poo-poo the idea. They are so excited to know that there are believers out there who are studying the scriptures and watching for the return of Jesus.

On a side note, Bob looks an awful lot like McCain. So we cannot go anywhere together without causing a stink! (I'm a palin look-a-like and there are many out there!)

We're thinking about going to the local GOP office together and thank them for doing such a great job! lol

Can Bob visit the cave sometime if he has the opportunity?

Lisa,

At Jesus first advent or coming His presence was with us for over thirty years. It began at His birth and lasted until His death and then subsequent ascension after His resurrection. With His second coming His presence begins when He cuts short the persecution against God's elect, sometime after the AofD. His appearance at Armageddon at the end of the Week is not a third coming, just another aspect of His second coming.

Angie,

Did you know the verb used for "taken" in Mt. 24:40 is the same verb used in John 14:3 which is translated "receive". The Greek word is "paralambano" and means "to receive near." So those taken are received near to the Lord in the rapture. Those left are left to face God's wrath. Jesus is giving instruction to believers. When He comes unbelievers will be making merriment, eating and drinking, just like they were in Noah's day before the flood came. They will be enjoying security under the protection of AC. When the flood came then the unbelievers in Noah's day understood what Noah was trying to warn them concerning, but then it was too late. It is going to be the same before the return of Christ. Here Jesus is giving believers instruction and warning so that they will understand what is going to take place, what to expect, how to prepare and how to survive. He's giving us the signs for which to watch...to know when His coming is near.

Beloved, in my 1:59pm post I simply pointed you to the scriptures, comparing Mt. 24 with Rev. 6 & 7, scripture interprets itself most wonderfully. Jesus was the one giving the discourse in Mt. 24 and it is His revelation He is giving John. They should match up. In Mt. 24 you have the gathering of the elect just after the natural lights go out and in Rev. 7, just after the opening of the 6th seal, when the natural lights go out, you have a great multitude from every nation and tribe in heaven, before the throne, that has come out of the great tribulation/"mega thlipsis" - exact same term is used in Rev. 7:14 as it is used in Mt. 24:21.

Just some things to consider...

“His appearance at Armageddon at the end of the Week is not a third coming, just another aspect of His second coming.”

Kathy, I appreciate you have a huge passion for prewrath but, to be fair, Marvin Rosenthal criticizes pretrib for believing in two second comings on page 294 of his book. How is prewrath justifying only one coming in a series of comings? Yes, I know it’s in that word “Parousia” ;-) The fact is that pretribbers could use exactly the same apologetics prewrathers use. And this also goes for the Great Commission – read at the bottom of page 185 of Mr Rosenthal’s book where he talks about passing the baton to the 144,000, then go back a few posts and read my responses to you. Keep in mind that the timing of the 144, 000 is the subject of much debate.

Rev 7:17 for the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and will guide them to springs of the water of life; and God will wipe every tear from their eyes."

Given that prewrath believes the multitude is the newly raptured church, how is it that they are worshipping the Lamb in the center of the throne if there is only one second coming? Has the Lord not come down to receive them into Heaven?

Rev 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war.

This verse shows the Lord coming out of heaven. Some argue that this is merely the atmosphere where He has been waiting all this time - but I wouldn’t. And I’m right ;-)

BTW, if there is a correlation between Mat 24 and Revelation (I agree) then why is there only one coming of Christ actually mentioned? If Revelation is unsealed, why do we find no rapture recorded between the 6th and 7th seals - whereas the Lord supposedly mentions it in Mat 24? If the great multitude is the church, why didn’t the elder simply say so at John’s question? Why is the word ekklesia not mentioned? If ever there was an appropriate place to use it, it would have been here, despite Mr Rosenthal’s pretrib Rebuttal on page 245. Also missing is the resurrection of all the church saints who died since Pentecost. Could a resurrected martyr from the 2nd century truly be classified as having come out of the great tribulation? If you argue for prewrath I suppose you’d be motivated to think so.

donna said...

Mac, I read one of the articles you posted yesterday at 2:41...talking about how the writer believes Matt 24 Jesus was talking about the Second Coming, but also shifting gears and bringing up the rapture.

The above is how I was taught and how I have since believed the BIble teaches.

I had never heard of Matt 24 only being for the Jews until I read it thru this group...although I have heard other teachers teach that since.

So just thought I'd throw that in there! Gotta run for now but will read Mac and Kathy's posts later!

Hi Lisa – I’ll try to summarize- all of Gods ‘pattern of sevens’: the supposed 6,000 year age of the earth, the 7 Sabbath years-followed by a Jubilee year (the first in over 2000 years) , the final 7 years of Daniels 70 ‘sevens’ – all either reach a conclusion ( or turn over to start a new cycle) during the fall Feasts of 2015. the word for ‘feasts’ and the word for ‘seasons’ [Gen 1:14] are the same word-mo’ed- meaning appointed times. In the same verse God says the ‘lights in the expanse of the sky……(will) serve as signs (signals) to mark the seasons (appointed times) and days and years.’ The blood moons that appear on Passover and Tabernacles in 2014 and 2015 may be signaling that the Fall Feasts are reaching fulfillment. Since Jesus fulfilled the Spring Feasts in His first coming, and will fulfill the Fall Feasts in His second coming-2015 may be the time of His second coming. All the day, year, and month prophecies fit into this 7 year timeframe, and reach conclusion during the Fall Feasts. I’m not predicting the future, only marking some dates and seeing what happens. But I am watching and praying, waiting expectantly ……..

Mac seems to be doing an excellent job and the less I say about the whole blood red moon thing probably the better (I am much more blunt when ill.)

I am however in much prayer over the coming election and I would advise each of us to be in much prayer over this election-we should always pray without ceasing but now more than ever. I have an urgency about this election that I've not had before and can't explain other than the fact it has to be from God. Also, I find it interesting that Grany posted a very well written and well thought out post on the coming election and all of a sudden instead of discussing that and the implications of the election and sharpening our critiques of BHO to share with others in our every day lives we're rehashing prewrath and blood red moons. do any of us realize that this sharing and blogging on line could come to a screeching halt if the wrong man is elected? let's not fiddle while rome burns.

great selection of articles

on a different sad note apparently hubby had to tell some of the adults at our son's awana group what his costume was-perhaps this is a symptom of what's wrong with the church today-no one recognizes the whole armor of God even when provided with the scripture reference on the shield of faith.

as a case in point-my dad must only listen or read half of what I say or perhaps none of it since I've been talking about the disaster of a BHO presidency. he emailed me 2 days ago with some questions on BHO that were presented in a mass email from the judeo-christian view site and it was disturbingly all old news. I've sent further links and articles to him on the subject. the opening to the letter that he received from one of his fellow profs was equally disturbing-

"I'd heard about Sen. Obama's views about partial birth abortion and infanticide (voting 4 times in Illinois for infanticide to be legalized for medical doctors), but I hadn't heard about the claims about requiring same sex marriage to be legalized and recognized in all 50 states and in the military.

Do you know if the claims below are true?

If they are true, do you know why these stands have been hidden from public view? Why has Sen. McCain said hardly anything about these issues other than minor mentioning of Sen. Obama's partial birth abortion views?

Please let me know if some parts of the claims below are not true.

P.S. I am sending this to a few people here locally in case they know anything about the validity of the claims. If the claims are true, Bible-believing Christian need to take action rather than just sitting out this election."

how can this be? these guys teach at Christian university. have they all had their collective heads in the sand or what?

Shalom, all, and Hi! I just wanted to pass along something a friend of mine over at Catholic Answers Forum just told me. She has a friend who is a Christian mystic, who has regular "conversations with Christ." These are just for himself, not for the general public, at least not for now. He mentioned to my friend that he had asked Jesus for something, and Christ said:

There's not enough time.

On a lighter note, which do you prefer, peeps or candy corn? And if you like candy corn do you just eat it whole or nibble it?

Jib, Shalom! I think the information re: Obama has not been brought up by McCain and the Republicans because it's so negative, it might be dismissed out of hand. Also, there are enough Republicans with similar views they didn't want to take a chance on splitting their base.

Overcomer,

I'm sorry, but for the most part I couldn't make heads or tails out of what you said.

Remember, by the time you get to Matthew 24:31, Jesus is speaking to His disciples and giving them further information about their questions. In verse 31, He's gathering his elect from heaven after the 7-year tribulation to return to earth with Him. He's gathering them from heaven, not from the earth.

Compare this to the ancient Jewish wedding ceremony where the bride goes to the groom's house for a seven day feast.

As with the seven days Noah, his family, and the animals spent in the ark, I believe God was giving everyone an opportunity to repent and turn to him...just as with the 7-year tribulation.

If you look again at what Jesus was saying in the latter verses of Matthew 24 which I copied in my post, you will clearly see that Jesus is comparing the unbelievers taken in the flood and to the unbelievers taken in verses 40 and 41. The Tribulation Saints are left on earth for the Millennium (sp?)

Again, Matthew 24 has absolutely nothing to do with the rapture. The focus is on Israel. Nothing in Matthew 24 implies that anyone is taken up and then immediately taken back down.

undoubtedly true-it is so negative despite being true that many might just dismiss it out of hand. however that does not excuse individual persons from sharing the same information. if we don't share the info on BHO and he's elected we may not have a chance to share anything of more importance such as eternity and Christ if he's elected.

btw-loved the cartoon. my cat that died a couple of years ago was quite fond of sleeping in the bathroom sink. I shall have to find the picture.

I had a really wild dream the other night-part of the reason I'm a little sleep deprived right now-that was over the top. I thought of you-you and Freud would likely have a field day with it. I must really go shower and head out to vote early. I have a jammed office on Tuesday and am also on ER call. don't want anything to interfere. the last time I voted in just the primary it took about and hour plus and I won't have that kind of time come election day ttfn

JIB, look at the post by me here

October 26, 2008 11:25 AM

But I will say this, when it is more exciting to talk about theory, what ifs and regroom the same dead horse time and time again, that tells me that people aren't really serious about serving God. He knows our hearts but so do we and to tell everyone the truth, I don't give a flip how many moons are red and how many eclipses there are before I hear Come up Here but I do care about that last soul that needs to know that God loves them so much he sent His own precious son to pay for their sins so they could call Him Father. That without the belief in Jesus Christ there is no propitiation for my sins and even if I am the best person on earth, never told a lie, never cheated on anyone, never cussed or did anything wrong to anyone, I will enter into the pits of hell when I die. Going to church won't save me, taking communion won't save me, being baptized won't save me and having a good reputation is just one more dead works that keeps me from heaven when I am without the Salvation that is only through Jesus Christ.

I know what you mean Joyce when you say you have a very tremendous burden to pray like nothing you have ever had before. I wake up crying and praying in the Holy Spirit; have been doing this for over 18 months and I can't even stand to listen to the news anymore. I have quit watching the prophecy broadcast and even Paul Washer causes me to grieve like nothing I have ever experienced before.

My burden is for everyone and that includes a whole lot of people on this blog. Having a flippant attitude toward the word of God is only heaping more conviction onto your heads and like Joyce said, our values are miserably lacking. We will all stand before a mighty King and answer we will for the idle words and deeds we have charged against us. Don't kid your selves into thinking it is going to be all roses when we are standing face to face with our Savior and hear the charges. What you did to the body of Christ will be of major consequence and what we didn't do will be right along beside it.

By the very same measure that we judge others, we will be judged and that is something that should give you reason to be on your knees praying. Be careful what you let into your hearts because it will become more than just idle conversation and if you give place to it, you will harvest the crop from that seed. Then you plant that seed here and others pick it up, then you compound your sin by enticing others to be mislead and follow after doctrines of demons and deception.

So, whether we like it or not, be careful in what you share and put out there for everyone to read and learn from.

As to the news Pretrib, posttrib, baby crib, etc. We have been there before, flames were observed and you need to discuss it somewhere else. Sorry Mac, but that discussion ranks right up there with the Baptism with the Holy Spirit and if we can't share that then Prewrath isn't going to be either without flames and fire works and destruction.

Jesus told us we would not know the date! That should be enough for everyone! We will know when our feet leave this earth and not until. Until then we are to live in harmony and love one another. Now, please tell me how anyone can say that they are sharing what they believe because and out of love for everyone! Sure you do! That's why you like to start Flame Wars with the same War Theories!

Not feeling much love right about now and I get the same feeling that Jesus must have felt when he overturned the Money Changers tables at the Temple.

Satan’s Plot
By: Maxine M.

One day Satan, while walking to & fro on the earth, noticed 2 of his demons seemed depressed
“What’s wrong with you two?” the devil asked. They both broke down & confessed
We’ve been working hard at trying to STOP the Gospel…we’ve done our very best

We’ve seen the trouble and discord, but Jesus’ “Good News” always seems to prevail
These followers of His just won’t give up…they’re even willing to die or go to jail
We’ve “deterred” some through wine, drugs or lust, BUT on these TRUE Christians, even these will fail

We entered many churches, watered down the message till some are now luke-warm
We’ve taken their friends, spouses, children and even pets by accidents, disease and devastating storm
We’ve accused them of INTOLERANCE, yet to this Gospel’s way of life, they still conform

We stirred the “political pot” till hatred for them reigns supreme
We’ve banished their “Book” from schools and poured violence into their cities in a constant stream
Yet they STILL keep trying to SAVE others…bring them into Jesus’ heavenly regime

We infiltrated their worship, proclaiming not ALL the Bible is relevant & true
This lie fooled many, but was NEVER accepted by these faithful few
We’re stumped & defeated…really don’t know what more to do

“Well, Boys!!” the devil said. “Those tactics are all very well & good”
And they’ve stolen the souls of many…like I told you they would
But these are Jesus’ especially chosen ones…all members of His brotherhood

You may as well STOP trying to get THEM to renounce His Holy Name
Your STRATEGY should be to get their FOCUS off Jesus by playing the “date setting” game
If you get one started, they MAY all follow & do the same

It’s just their human nature to try & pin-point the rapture of which Jesus spoke
When even I, with all my cunning & power, don’t know…let alone THESE common folk
But we can use to OUR advantage the mystery this event seems to invoke

For when they are preoccupied with speculations about WHEN that day will unfold
Their minds are not on telling others HOW Jesus died for them…the Gospel story is less told
So we can advance our PLAN…be more blatant & bold

Remember how well this distraction of “date setting” worked on others in the past?
What complete discouragement on their fundamental faith was cast
They won’t turn to us, BUT at least they will be an ineffective witness as long as that disappointment lasts

So, fellows, stir up those headlines…give them something to ponder today
Something that will cause a controversy or debate…a new daily plot to relay
They’ll be so INTRIGUED they won’t spend so much time reading what the Bible has to say

“What a wonderful idea, oh wise evil master”, the demons said with gleeful voice
Since all our strategies have proven to be the wrong choice
Makes sense to use their OWN curiosity…if we can dull their joy, we will greatly rejoice

If they spend their time & energy with thoughts of CALCULATION, the Gospel’s advantage will slow
And if a date is proven wrong, perhaps “cracks” in their faith will start to show
How do they dare think they can figure out something GOD didn’t want them to know?

Now fellow Christians…this is just an imaginary little tale
To show how the devil PLOTS & SCHEMES…how against the Lord, demons try to rail
How they FEAR the Gospel’s saving GRACE, but WE CAN make Satan’s strategy fail

By keeping JESUS Himself in the fore-front of your mind
Anticipating His coming!! But with excitement & patience combined
REDOUBLING efforts to bring with us ALL we can find

So, BE AWARE!! BE ALERT, but always trusting His awesome saving power
That He’ll forever be our Rock & Refuge…our strong abiding Tower
For He PROMISED He’d come at that “just right, UNEXPECTED HOUR”!!

Angie,
I agree with your response. Very good!
I'm so happy to see you posting again!

Kathy,
You know I love you. And you could very well, be (partially) right, if there are two raptures. One before the Trib. And one in the middle of the Trib. (which is what I happen to believe, but time will tell)

Jib and Grany,
Ditto to everything you said, as I agree with you both 100%!

Everyone,
Let's not major on the minors. Or, at least, let's focus on the election at hand. This upcoming election has the potential to change our life, as believers in Christ, like Jib and Grany mentioned. If Obama becomes President, he intends to vote in the Fairness Doctrine. (according to the news sources I read/watch, etc.) And that's just one, of many, negitive things he would be doing, all in the name of "change."

The Bible says, in 1 Peter 5:8:

"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour."

May God have mercy upon us, and our country.

And may God's great and everlasting love be with us all.

Mac and Dear Wilma,

I generally don’t even use the term prewrath anymore when I comment here. I just discuss the scriptures. If you are interested, please read on, if not, you can skip over.

Parousia is used in Mt. 24, 1 Th. 4, and 1 Cor. 15. To save time and space I’ll just post a link here to an article I wrote regarding the use of that term and how it ties all the passages together, the Lord’s second coming, our gathering, and the resurrection. Rev. 19 doesn’t even use the term. I think it’s because He’s already made His initial presence earlier in the Week.

“Given that prewrath believes the multitude is the newly raptured church, how is it that they are worshipping the Lamb in the center of the throne if there is only one second coming? Has the Lord not come down to receive them into Heaven?”

I’m not quite sure what you are asking here Mac. It is my understanding that His mention of His presence/coming in Mt. 24 is His appearance and movement in the clouds with His angels and His purpose is to gather the elect. From Mark’s account we see that the gathering entails both from the earth and sky. When comparing scripture with scripture we often get a more complete picture.

Looking at 1 Th. 4 we see He also descends at His coming and we are told those believers who were asleep God brings with Jesus and those who are alive and remain, their location is on the earth, are caught up to meet the Lord and the sleeping saints in the clouds. Beautifully matches up with Mark where we see a gathering from the earth and sky.

In 1 Cor. 15 Paul tells us that we receive our resurrection bodies at His coming - those who ascend to Christ, the alive, and those who descend with Him at His coming, the sleeping saints. Thus, the great multitude out of the GT worshipping before the throne are these two groups of saints…if you notice in Rev. 7:9 they are clothed in white robes and have palm branches in their hands…they have bodies, resurrection bodies.

If God brings with Jesus sleeping saints at His coming, He’s bringing their souls. In that very same passage in 1 Th. 4 the dead in Christ rise first, this must be their bodies. Those sleeping saints would include a resurrected martyr from the second century, wouldn’t it, or a dear saint who gave their life for their testimony yesterday, or one who gives his life for His testimony during the great persecution of AC?

Praying with you all regarding the outcome of the election…Praise God He is sovereign over it all and our trust is in Him.

Grany,

You did say your burden lifted the other day right?

Jib,

You apparently have a great burden for this election cycle as well. (I know how you feel-at least for me it's as if your heart's ripped out.)

I am not a burden expert by any means so I'll refer that to someone who has more experience.

But we would do well to heed those who are sharing & listen to what the Holy Spirit is communicating.
I also have two other close friends w/the same burden.(Plus our pastor)

But I have to confess to you that I'm at peace with the election. Does that mean there is something wrong with me?

Those communicating the burdens I listen to & continue to pray for our nations @ leaders but God has not put this into my heart to "feel."

What I am typically burdened with is the Laodicean spiritual sickness in the body of Christ & the spiritual blindness of unbelievers on a lesser degree.

I have a great faith in whatever the turn out of this election is that it is under God's master plan & control. And really-I know what is @ stake if Obama is elected & the satanic "spirit" behind this man. If I have this sense of peace no matter what the outcome is should I feel guilty about it?

When I ruminate on Obama & the "change" which will occur if he's elected I can get the anxiety level to rise up real fast because I've studied enough of his background to know better.

My focus has been keeping my heart on the Kingdom of God & His righteousness & what I can do meanwhile on earth while we await the return of our King. This has been pushing back the potential anxiety.

I also took to heart Grany's suggestion of spending more time in "Praise" so that alone is enough to lift your spirit in a time of turmoil.

Should we all feel the same burden? Or does God grant particular ones to certain individuals in order to work within a specific area, congregation, or influence a group of associations?

Today I went to get my hair done @ the house of a fun hairdresser lady. We had a good chat today. She is a former backslid Christian(such as myself) but now seems to be doing well.

(Grew up in the Church but @ some point went off & did her own thing.)

Anyway today I brought "Unlocking God's Secrets" because I thought I might have a chance to read more of it during the hair process. Well I forgot how much she likes to talk so that never happened.

By the end of our chat I wanted to give her the book since it's the last time I'll see her again before the move. She says "Oh a friend gave me a book the other day too-let me show it to you!"

So she runs off to get it.

She comes back with the Eckhart Towle book "A New Earth, Awakening your life's purpose."

(I'm glad I couldn't see the expression on my face!) I then of course informed her that the author is a "New Age" believer & of the millions Oprah has been leading astray with this stuff.

She said that for some reason she just couldn't get into this book anyway & was really glad she showed it to me .She was a little taken aback as she didn't know anything about Elkhart Towle or his "New Age" beliefs.

I mentioned she should also inform the person who gave her the book what it's about.

**Anyway, it was an interesting turn of events.

Lisa, in the past when ever the burden to pray and intercede is lifted, God has always then given the charge to action. To just pray and then rest because we have prayed is a nice feeling but it doesn't really mean the need for prayer has ended. Sometimes we convince ourselves that our required prayers are fulfilled and we get back into our regular life. Someone else then becomes the advocate to stand in the gap with prayer and supplications on his lips and surrender in his heart. My burden that I expressed the other day was for the market and the welfare of all those who are suffering total loss. I have felt such misery and some of it was because of our own involvement in the mess. This situation with our country is not part of that burden. My gut reaction is to try to ignore it but that isn't possible. It is not fear or anxious, dark thoughts either. It is a heart rending need to get up close and personal with Abba and to let my understanding be of nothing compared to His requirement of pray without ceasing. You call it anything you want but there is no way you can have head knowledge about any of this unless the burden has been etched into your very most inner being.

It is not something that is only granted to a few because it is taking all of us praying and believing that God is doing something radical in response to our prayers. That is why this is solely a Holy Spirit led prayer time. Probably why I am praying while asleep and getting awakened by hubby wondering why I am crying and talking in my sleep. I only know that the burden to be watchful is genuine and that the need to be serious minded about the times and seasons has never lessened.

I don't enjoy it one little bit but it has transported me to a whole new revelation about our relationship with Abba. Being flippant and critical has all of a sudden lost its appeal and I find myself losing the desire to have a comic response to everything. Life is serious but so is death. The death of a nation and a blessing is a dreadful thing to think about. That is change that no one should be wanting.
