Nate, and Mac, Shalom! RE: your comments timestamped October 10, 2008 5:11 PM and 5:28 PM:

You'll find that Donna and I already discussed this article (you'll notice it's dated almost a month ago -- Sept. 19) in the blog entry dated Thursday, Oct. 2. My reply has a timestamp of October 6, 2008 7:00 PM. Lisa and I also discussed the article in the blog entry dated Sunday, September 28, 2008; my reply has a timestamp of September 30, 2008 11:36 PM. I recommend reading those entries. I would like to add these comments to the comments I made then, specifically, how the Catholic Church views "fundamentalism".

"Fundamentalism" is more correctly called "literalism", meaning, everything in scripture must be understood literally. Nate and Mac, I have to ask you this directly: do you believe that the Bible is literally true?

I would advise caution when answering, for if you do, then you must obey what Jesus commands you to do. If you answer yes, then I must ask how you interpret Matthew 5:29: If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. (NIV) Jesus says the same thing in Matthew 18:9 and Mark 9:47. If he is saying the same thing in three locations in the bible it must be important. So why do we not see more one-eyed one-handed Christians in the world? (IOW, First Evangelical Church of the Christian Pirate?)

It's because of INTERPRETATION. It's because people say, "Well, it doesn't meant THAT!" The problem is, once you start interpreting, you have moved away from the literal meaning. You then have to decide if this teacher is right, or that teacher is right, or if both are wrong and a particular verse means something else entirely.

This is why the Pope said what he said about fundamentalism. It is this problem of interpretation that has lead us to 35,000 parallel branches of Christianity. So long as fundamentalism supports each individual having their own interpretation of Scripture, we will have problem. I strongly recommend going to Zenit to read the latest stories on the Holy Synod on God's Word that is going on in Rome right now, and which will continue for another two weeks. You might be interested in this article which appeared yesterday: 1st Round of Applause Goes to Non-Catholic. It has to do with the presentation made by Reverend Robert Welsh, president of the Council of Christian Unity of Disciples of Christ.

Jim C,

the problem is all context. those of us who do take the Bible to be the literal word of God know that some of the scriptures are meant to be allegorical than literal such as the one you selected. Christ is not advocating that the eye be plucked out literally but most would recognize that for what it is-hyperbole to emphasize the point of how serious the topic under discussion is.
it goes to the laws of hermaneutics. the problem of not intrepreting the Bible literally and believing it to be the actual inspired words of God is that then one can make the case that most if not all is to be considered allegorical.

as to the number of denominations-some of the divisions are due to majoring on the minors such as tongues, baptism (immersion vs sprinkling not addressing the whole other subject of infant baptism) and eschatology and some are due to majoring on the majors-the infallibility of scripture, the virgin birth, the Trinity eg. The fact is that as Donna said-it isn't just the Catholic church-a lot of churches aren't preaching what they should and are trying to accomodate the world and the devil's philosophy even if they don't realize it.

whether one likes it or not there is significant doctrinal error in amny churches although the RCC is easier to pick on because it is a tad more obvious at times and we don't have to look that deeply at our own church or denomination.

Lisa
as far as the nephillium go there are many many sound Biblical scholars who don't interpret that passage in Genensis to mean fallen angels but the sons of Seth. I disagree with that and have come to the conclusion that it does mean fallen angels but have to tell you that is the minority interpretation.

Late Night Lisa said...

This seems to insinuate that if we all listen to the "Pope's" interpretation (who is supposedly the Vicar of Christ?) then we can become one unified religion.Or at the least submit to his authority as our "Christian representative." If he is really appointed by God in that successive role then He must be providing the correct interpretation & the rest of the Christians baptized w/the power of the Holy Spirit must be wrong if they don't agree with him.

The "eye for an eye" example a moron can figure out you don't take that literally. Since the Bible was written so the common man can understand it it's really not that difficult to tell when scripture is to be taken allegorically or not.

This is just my personal observation but I don't think any one denomination has adopted or realized every truth in the Bible which we will adopt in the future under the millennial reign of Christ.

It appears some denominations have been "gifted" with particular truths & it is our duty to study and figure out who has what.

For example I think Pentecostals,Catholics,Evengelicals,Baptists,Messanic Jews, and so on are gifted w/special strengths & have other weaknesses.

When we study to find ourselves approved w/knowledge in God's word we are able to sort those out. We are not to be allegiant to any particular denomination above what we find true in God's word. Our allegiance is directly to God who personally counsels us through the power of the Holy Sprit who dwells within us. That's assuming one has been baptized in the Spirit. Otherwise your counsel is only through men and not assisted by the one you will comfort, counsel, and teach all truths if you seek Him with a sincere heart. On your own without the activated assistance of the Holy Spirit
is a dangerous place to be.

Satan will deceive even "the elect" & we need to be able to stand back from a situation & view it objectively. Not live in the realm of emotional attachment to our denominations.

Otherwise we might as well take our Bibles and toss them out the window-especially in light of the times in which we are living.

From the 1st round Applause article:

"Globalization of anxiety and despair calls for globalization of salvation and hope," Reverend Stalsett added. "Religious leaders are called to a ministry of peace and reconciliation."

I take it there are two parallel tracts running. One-globalization of the Economy. Two-globalization of the Christian (and other) religions.

Well that's been Biblically predicted.

I was watching Prophesy in the News last night. It was taped 2 weeks before Sept 29th-the new 7 year Sabbatical cycle.

They were really perplexed thinking about this time frame & if nothing is "seen" to indicate the start of the Trib-then?

(We did see the 777 & stock market plunge)

But after going over some other things last night-the Anti-Christ & false prophet initially take control not by force but by peace.

Look @ the 1st seal and view it in light of a conqueror by "peace." I kept viewing it as conquer by war.
He could indeed be riding right now.

This is a quote from Chuck Smith: “A man will ride in on a white horse, "conquering and to conquer." Later, in the Book of Revelation, we read that Jesus will return riding on a white horse.(ch 19). But the man described here in chapter 6 will be an imposter. He will be a man called the "Anti-Christ." Hs is a false Messiah."

"But He will come in at first looking like a hero, riding on a white horse, and will arise out of Europe to govern the world and solve all the problems. He will be seen as an economic genius, and he will have the power of Satan @ his disposal....."

The Mahdi also rides in on a "literal" white horse. The parallels between the prophetic Muslim writings & the Holy Bible are also almost parallel. Since Satan is the author of the Muslim writings I don't know how much validity should be given coming from the father of lies. The Christians following the Muslim connection put much weight in these parallels in how the end times are orchestrated. In this case you could take the "white horse" literally as the Muslims are literally expecting the Mahdi to ride in on a white horse.

But-say the 1st seal has been broken now-we can look around and see who this "economic" genius may be. The other horses are all allegorical so this 1st white horse should be as well.

If we have a world wide financial collapse-the 2nd seal may refer to it. People can't get their money & riots break out.

The 3rd seal could be the natural outcome of such a great financial collapse. Money is not worth anything so people are starving.

Anyway-this entire "Global Shift" is almost unreal to watch unfold. Maybe we are only in the prelude stage to the seals being broken & "the global system" will set the stage for 1st seal. Or it could actually have been broken as we don't know how long a time frame the 1st seal would refer to. It could be 6mo,1 year or 2-then the other events occur @ a faster pace.

They were discussing on the Prophesy in the news update if thisG7 group could possibly be the "7 heads" of the Beast. The 10 horns would come out of the head & may be the eventual fromation of the 10 nation confederacy.

The North American Union being one of them. I really don't mind being combined w/Canada but Mexico? Their country is so terribly corrupt even the thought of that is frightening.

**It seems like they would fit better w/Latin America.

Hi Lisa,
I was watching Foxnews yesterday to see how the stock market would end....not interested in it personally as we aren't at a place right now in life where our investments matter alot (kids aren't going to college soon, etc.) I don't have any fear either about a general economic collapse because I'm very comfortable with the idea that God is going to fully take care of the needs of His kids. I was watching to see how things continue to unfold in line with prophecy and it's truly amazing to hear all the talk of the world needing to work together to come up with a solution. How quickly the one-world cooperation is coming about! Russia saying that the US shouldn't be included as a major player in any future planning and France (or was it Italy?) saying maybe the world markets need to be paused until a new global plan is in place to start from scratch with. On the side bar screen, Fox was showing various videos of other happenings and one was a riot in London to protest that country's bailout plan for their banks. The police had riot gear on and were pushing back the protestors at the front gates/doors of some building. Sometimes I have to remind myself that most of the world doesn't share our peace and are frantically looking for sometihng to grab onto to get that quick fix in their spirit again....the money is going so what will soothe them next? And those who have no foundation to stand on (or return to) are going to start acting out on those anxieties as they flail about. Again, no worries here. Just amazing to see it falling into place so quickly now.

Blessings,
Jen

It's due time to take a look @ what's transforming in the "Global" situation & this Ecumenical movement. Are you going to remain a faithful follower of the Word or go w/the flow?

New World Order Religion

Rev. 17:18 "And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth."
A Woman Rides the Beast

Sorry Jim C. I had reserved judgment on who I thought "the woman who rides the beast" is (hoping it was something else) but the "Global" parallel situations currently developing are confirming my suspicions.

The ten horns (if this will be the new 10 nation confederacy) will eventually turn on her & destroy her. Probably about the time of the desolation of abomination.

Warning-if you don't go w/the flow of both these movements the wrath of the world will heaped upon your head. It should be expected.

I do not care about the Economical global movement-unless a mark surfaces but I will not join the Ecumenical movement and forfit Biblical truths in order to "all get along."

The RRC is clearly setting up the stage to gather in all who are willing to be sheltered under the RRC umbrella.

The "fundamentalists" who refuse will be ostracized. Why all the comments on “literal” interpretation of scripture. As if we can’t decipher what should be literal and what shouldn’t. Hog wash!

Happy Saturday everyone!

Sounds like the discussion is getting down to the nitty gritty and that argument Jim about the eye is very interesting. However, we would have to start back with Peter, the Rock, Bar Jonah, wouldn't we? After all, he lied about knowing Jesus and so why, if what Jesus said about plucking out the eye is a good example of action in motion, didn't Jesus gouge Peter's eye out then?

Like Lisa said, common sense has to take place somewhere. Now, as far as the pope deciding what the scriptures say, no thank you. History has survived through enough Dark Ages and eternity is not gained by that mind set. So, lop off my head because I will not, never, ever, bend my knee and kiss the ring! I will bend my knees and do already, to the King of kings and the Lord of lords but to none other. Pope is the Pope and not my father. My Father's name is Abba, Jehovah, I AM, and the list goes on.

I don't intend to insult your church and I never intend to wound you but please understand, I am not Catholic minded, spirited or intuitively inclined to be such. I have learned greatly from you and I so admire your dedication to your church and that you willingly stand and proclaim your beliefs. Your name is brought to God's Throne daily Jim because I do love the friend I have in you. You are precious in His sight and a value to me. As all of you are and I do cherish the heart and soul of each of you.

Now, let me share something that happened last week and in the heat and tears of events taking place in our household, I didn't have the resolve to share with all of you. I let the crisis be a weight upon my shoulders and God reminded me that the battle is His and the Victory is mine!

About 2 weeks ago one of my best friends. living in this little town, called me to request that we pray together over a situation involving her son. Her son lives in Dallas, TX and he is a very precious youngman who has great potential. He went to work on a regular basis and when he returned home that evening, it was obvious that someone had entered his apartment and taken some guns that he had acquired for sporting. There was no sign of forced entry and he has always be a young man of habit. Locking is paramount in Dallas. He reported it to the authorities and to the apartment complex manager. He called his mother and she told him that we would pray. His response was something like "a lot of good that will do. I have done that before and nothing was accomplished." Now that was the gist of his response. But his mother told him we would pray anyway.

She called me and as you might guess, the Holy Spirit joined up with us immediately. We used the power of agreement declaring that the thief would be so convicted by the Holy Spirit that he/she would return the guns, wrapped up so they were protected and leave them at her son's door step. That it would not be a long time in accomplishment and God would bring her son's trust in God back to the point where it was destroyed. We prayed for the thief that he would recognize the conviction and turn from this sinful nature.

Last week, in the very middle of the worst day's events when I was sucking dust and wallowing in self pity, my friend called to share some news with me. She related that her son had called her all excited and completely blown away with the events that he had just experienced. He went to work that morning, forgot something, returned to his apartment about an hour & half later, went inside to retrieve his work, came back out to the car, looked back at the front door for some strange reason, and noticed there was something laying on the step. Got out of his car, walked up to the door and it was a bundled package that didn't look like anything he recognized. Opened the door to the apartment, took the package in, and opened it to find his 2 guns and another one. He only had 2 guns stolen to begin with. The package was not only wrapped once but twice and the second wrapping was with the special storage bag he hadn't missed yet.

My friend said that by the time her son had finished sharing the process of recovery he was beside his self with joy, complete surprise and adoration. His last statement as he shared the recovery was "God really does hear and answer our prayers."

Not only did God hear our agreeing petition but he restored the son to his rightful place of a Believer.

Believe God because He is not man that he should lie and his arm has not been shortened that he can no longer reach us. If nothing else I have ever shared with all of you is remembered, please remember this. Don't let religion put the power of God's Word into dispute. Keep his word before you even if it means giving up all other words. You have to know that what the scriptures contain are life and death, blessings and cursing, able to divide to the marrow between soul and spirit. It is the Sword that Jesus will defeat the enemies of our souls with and it is the Word spoken out that causes Demons to flee and Angels to respond to our cry. But you have to Believe Him and take his word seriously.

God bless you all.

"My hope lives not because I am not a sinner, but because I am a sinner for whom Christ died; my trust is not that I am holy, but that being unholy, He is my righteousness. My faith rests not upon what I am, or shall be, or feel, or know, but in what Christ is, in what He has done, and in what He is now doing for me. ~ Spurgeon"

I just not noticed that quote above the comment box here. We are not righteous in and of ourselves but because the Righteous One lives in us, we can approach the Throne of God without fear and know that he hears us as we humble ourself and pray. Repenting (Turning completely away from the sins that keep us separated) and believing that he hears from heaven and will heal our land.

A Prayer for Victory Psalms 20
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.
1 The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee;
2 send thee help from the sanctuary,
and strengthen thee out of Zion;
3 remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice.
Selah.
4 Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel.
5 We will rejoice in thy salvation,
and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions.
6 Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.
7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
8 They are brought down and fallen:
but we are risen, and stand upright.
9 Save, LORD! let the king hear us when we call."

Hi Lori,

The bonus gun was turned over to the law enforcement agent who was assigned to his case. The gun is actually a very old one from about 1930's and is a collectors item. The detective told my friends son that it is a very unusual thing for these guns to be returned to the owner. When the son shared the story about the prayer, the officer was very touched and shared with him that he too was a Holy Spirit filled believer and they seem to have found a reason for being friends. The policeman was very touched by the whole thing.

I would imagine they don't get very many praise reports like that one.

Shalom, all! I wanted to pass on something that someone had posted over at CAF:

WHO probing deaths from mystery disease in SAfrica

It appears to be a new form of hemorrhagic fever. Ebola is the best known and deadliest form of hemorrhagic fever, where you literally bleed out of every orafice, but there are a number of other types. In the Korean War, there was a form spread by ticks where the kidneys would shut down, and the person suffered great thirst. In the end the victim literally drowned in their own fluids.

What makes this interesting is a number of Catholic prophets who have spoken about new incurable diseases appearing in the end times. It's also interesting because one poster (who lives in Japan) posted this link to an article in a Japanese newspaper that states, A government health panel is recommending the use of masks in the event a new type of influenza breaks out in Japan, suggesting that households should store 20 to 25 masks per person. They came up with that number on the assumption that you would use 7-10 masks for the 7-10 day influenza period, with another 16 based on the assumption that you'd go out only two times a week for the 8-week influenza season.

How many of you go out only two times in a week? That only happens when there's a major outbreak and people are quarantined at home.

Oh and Jen,

I am astonished at the leaps and bounds movement toward globalism we have seen this week.

You know though, I find that it has increased my faith because He knows the beginning from the end and He has told us in His word that this would happen.

Also, every time I turn on the TV or read articles on the internet I hear more politics and "religion" being mixed together.

I was telling my husband awhile ago that it is so frustrating to talk with my older children about all of the election chaos because they are for Obama on almost a obsessive level.

They see my vote against him totally tied with my "religious convictions" and see my beliefs and politics as the same thing, if that makes sense at all.

As an aside, I am SICK of the media bias toward Obama and merciless toward Palin and McCain. Truly spiritual warfare in action.

Jim C - I like what Missler says. He says he takes the Bible seriously. We all know the Bible contains metaphor and even hyperbole at times and I’ve heard the argument about literalism used by amillennialists, but that wasn’t what my comment was about. I don’t pretend to know the official Vatican position but those priests I talked about were outright evolutionists. Furthermore, they questioned the resurrection and the virgin birth. Basically they were social workers dressed up in clerical gear.

Great Grany 5 said...

Donna, you are right on about the spiritual warfare taking place in our country but it goes beyond the election. Or even politics in general. We are in a Major Spirit vs spirit battle and will be until the very end of age before Christ returns to set up his 1000 year reign. We all know that this is just par for the course. It was so in Jesus day and it is especially true today. But the Christian is the targeted one and since Gov. Palin is a born again, confessing Christian, she is under that attack big time. The world hates Good because it reminds them of what they don't have. That is one of the reasons she had asked that we all pray Psalms 27 every day for the country, the candidates and the people connected to the elections.

Please take the time to read it out loud and follow it with your own private prayer for God's sufficiency in all things today and until we are called out of this life.

Jim:

Jacob's life is a fascinating study in what happens when people try to help God. I'm not sure about Isaac, but I think that he was willing to trust God enough that he could follow the family traditions without jeopardizing Jake's blessing. Isaac probably considered the blessing as an addition to the birthrite, and not contained within it, but Rebbecca probably figured that they belonged together. She was protecting God's plan.

We see that Jake got his duplicity from his mother (it appears that Nahor's family had already started away from true worship, and the 1st thing that they lost was faith in the all-powerfulness of God. There are many examples of Rebbecca practicing her help (deceit).

I do not think that Jake doubted God, he just believed that he was required to work to bring about God's promises. From the stew, to the blessing, to the sneaking way for a bride, to the attempt to influence genetics, we see Jake trying to bring about the promise. If he had simply trusted God for the blessing, he would not have had to meet Laban without piles of loot. Had he come to Laban with his 10 camels loaded with gold and silver, etc, Laban would have quickly married off Leah to the family servant and gladly let Jake take Rachael in exchange. Jake would have got the bride that he loved, his home would have been filled with peace, and God would have had a much more righteous start to his nation. Because Jake insisted on helping God, he really piled on the grief for himself and his family. God accomplished his will, never-the-less, but it was much less fun for Jake.

We see that Jake was a bit of a slow learner as well. When he returned to Canaan in Genesis 32, he met the Angel of God, and fought with him all nite for a blessing. Silly guy, he already had the blessing. he did not need to wrestle for it. I think that it would have been much cooler to sit there by the fire enjoying coffee together and talking about all the wonderful things that God was doing, and why his brother was such a jerk. But no... he had to fight so that God's promises might be fulfilled. The only thing new that Jake received that nite was a bum hip, and perhaps a bit more faith in God's promises.

The moral of this story is that we can sure get ourselves into a heap of trouble if we try to help God fulfill His promises in our lives. The simplest way is to believe God, rest in His promises and continue to humbly serve Him, letting God fulfill those promises in His own time. I am sure glad that I never try to help God fulfill his promises to me. ;<]

The comforting thing about these stories is that God will bless even those who are not quite perfect yet. Hopefully this will add a bit of perspective to the story

Loved that remembrance of Josh. Remember too all of the suspicious remarks that he would make as Anonymous. What a character he was. I don't know of anyone who could stir the pot like him in a totally different manner than the totally obnoxious one "T".

The message on Prophecy in the News that is the daily news for Friday is quite interesting. After watching it I was impressed by the Holy Spirit that there is a huge attempt by the author of evil to sow a blanket of fear across the world and weaken our resolve and our faith. I suggest if this happens to you that you get your bibles out and start reading the Psalms and also, the Song of Solomon. Hey just reading it out loud, made me feel better and I put my name in there for the damsel and threw it in Satans face. I am my beloved's and my beloved is Jesus Christ and he is mine.

How dare anything of the kingdom of darkness come near my dwelling place. I would not hesitate to call the law enforcement if an intruder tried to enter my home so, I am calling on the Promise Keeper (Holy Spirit) to take action and send him back where he came from.

Kenneth Hagin used to say that the greatest joy he had was laughing in the face of evil whenever he was threatening him and simply say "not according to the Word of God for it written, and then tell him what the Word says." I like that one.

I am the redeemed and I will say so! I am covered by the blood of Jesus Christ and Jesus made a show of Satan openly before all of the host of Heaven. He is coming soon and when he does, he will destroy the works of evil and be the King of kings and the Lord of lords. No power on earth can hold down or back. He is coming and no man, woman or situation can hold Him back.

Great story about the guns and how God answered the specific prayer that you all prayed. He is indeed a prayer answering God.

I wonder if you would pray with us for a similar situation we have just gone through. We have rental properties and just had a nasty eviction where the renter did not pay 3 months back rent. Would you pray with us that the renter would be convicted and return the money they stole from us in unpayed rent? I will be happy to post the good outcome when it occurs if you will pray. I am just amazed how God answered your specific request. God Bless!

GT, I will pray for your situation and I am also agreeing that this renter will be convicted by the Holy Spirit to make a hasty payment not knowing what in the world is causing him to do so. When he does come, please keep your heart pure towards God and do not allow anger enter in. Pray that you have a gentle heart condition towards him and forgive him his trespass against you. Will you agree with me on that? Then if he asks, explain to him that the conviction is coming from the Holy Spirit sent by God.

I am of a very firm conviction that God will be right in the middle of us bringing those requested things to pass when we can find the ground to agree on. It is a very powerful prayer and one that I take very seriously. No doubts, just trust.

The prayer group that I belong to has had to take a few refresher courses in agreeing but now the course is set and we know that God will answer. We are not interested in cars, boats, lottery, or anything like that but we are so used to praying together that we got lazy and found out that sometimes we didn't or couldn't agree with the speaker. We wouldn't tell anyone but we were not in agreement. Correction is good and obedience is far more wanted than sacrifice.

Got you covered!

Thank you for praying and agreeing with us on the matter of the errant renter, that he will be convicted by the Holy Spirit.

I now confess that I have had some resentment toward him for doing what he did. I confess this before you and Jesus and ask for His forgiveness for both us and the renter and that He will change my heart and mind about the situation as well. I am in agreement with you and will tell him if contacted that the conviction is from the Holy Spirit.

Your family is still on my mind and in my prayers as well. God Bless!

She has COPD and something is wrong with her legs that they haven't been able to figure out yet. Please pray for her. She is in bondage with depression and worry. Very heavy. Just to inform everyone, Alesia is still in a lot of pain. Some swelling has occurred although it’s probably to be expected. Can you please keep her in prayer?

On another matter, GT, Alesia and I had been toying with the idea of another blog site available to the general public. I’ve been thinking about something like this since Joel’s was shut down. Last week, I actually created a blog that was geared to Joel’s products and named it “Friends of Joel Rosenberg’s Epicenter”. I then contacted his publicist to get permission to go ahead but they declined – so I deleted it. Given some of the commentary fiascos, I totally understand that stance.

I wanted a visible blog that people might find and come to discuss what’s happening in the world and we all might get a chance to witness to them. This was occurring at Joel’s – there were a lot of anonymous posters who read there and were positively affected by you all. Anyway, I haven’t given up entirely. I think there are some fine Christians here, at the cave, who can provide a solid witness to this tired old world. In the next few days, I’ll think about setting up another blog and call it something like – Gog & Magog, Damascus and Israel, or something like that. I’ll try and put together a few articles and see if there are any hits. It would be really nice if we could set up a public blog (just like Joel’s was) that attracted people that need witnessing. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

sounds like a great idea but not sure how you'll get that much traffic. joel got a lot of traffic because of his books which is why people went there.

on a different note we should be praying for this family because they are being told they are muslim because their father briefly converted to Islam when they were kids. this would then force their husbands to convert and all their grandkids would then be muslim also.

Deb
good to "see" you. you certainly have your hands full for sure. I would seek both spiritual help and medical help for your mom's depression (medical since bipolar disease can just manifest itself as depression without the manic moods that go along with it)

campsmore said...

Debbie,

When my mom moved in with us in 1994, she also brought with her a spirit of darkness. My mom was battling lung cancer.

We made it a point to pray with her and read the Bible together as a way to "encourage" her.

We also went around our home and annointed it with oil. Honestly, I think it was olive oil. he he he

Things turned around drastically. My mom still passed away, but we had the sweetest relationship by that time and she was a joy to have in our home.

She still got scared at times. Facing mortality and uncertainity challenged us all. My children were young too, 3, 6, and 8.

But God! No matter how difficult it can get, remember that, But God.

There is nothing too hard for him. His hand isn't too short.

Just before Daniel and his friends were thrown into the firey furnace, Daniel had a But God moment.

"If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty."(Dan3:17)

God will rescue you too, no matter the circumstance.

We'll all be here to pray for and encourage you too, if you need it.

Good morning all,

Surgery went well, I do have paralysis on my entire left side of face, which was a risk, hopefully temporary - so please pray for healing.

I felt fantastic the day after surgery but now feel like I've been run over by a truck (look like it too) ha

Having a hard time reading the monitor, due to swelling, but will try to catch up - plus, Mac's been keeping me in the loop.

Have a blessed day, everyone!

Oh, have to tell you one funny thing... in recovery (hope this doesn't offend anyone) my daughter came back & said I touched her face, grabbed her hand & kept saying "Praise Jesus" over & over. She looked at me & said "mom, you had jaw replacement, not ethnicity replacement!" apparently I was saying it like an old black woman, she said!

That gave me a chuckle but I was thrilled that Jesus was the first thing out my mouth & first thing on my heart afterwards.

Good God's Morning everyone and to Mac and Mr. Hyde, blessed night's peaceful sleep.

GT, thanks for the confirmation and agreed. All of us here will be praying for you because there is power in groups being united in prayer. It is God's provisions and we are only willing believers in Him and His promises to hear us and provide His answers to our requests.

MAC, I am still praying for Alesia and also for you. It is difficult to have someone you care for going through any type of medical situation. When I first read your comment I thought Alesia was still in the hospital and then I saw her comment and gave a shout! Jesus coming out of her mouth at the right time is a great praise to her hearts condition. Hallelujah and Amen!

Dibdabdeb, you have my prayers added to all of the others. Lori gave you some very good advice. When my brother came to be with our Mother and I, he had been in a terrible ordeal in Renton, Washington, then Puyallup and then Olalla, Washington. All medical matters and because the situation involved his brain hemorrhage and lungs, it was as if a huge black cloud came with him. He didn't realize it but everyone around him did.

Mother and I both anointed their condo with oil (yep, olive oil) and asked God to deliver us from all elements that were not of our Heavenly Father. We stood in agreement with each other that God would bring brother into His heavenly kingdom and that their home would become a source of praise. Within a matter of a few weeks, my brother was saved, filled with the Holy Spirit and life became a wonderful, joy filled occasion for all.

So, you overcome evil with good and you resist the devil and he will flee (run like the wind) away from you. While your daughter is there, get the prayer going because there is power in united prayers.

Nate, look at the top of the comment box where you type your message and read what is posted there by our host. I just realized it was there and what a blessing it is. I think it is changed each time a new post is published.

Mac, about that site, is the name "Epicenter" copy right protected? Joel has the right not to want his name involved and I respect that but most people would recognize Epicenter in a generic manner and still connect the two. Just a thought.

Now I have to go fix breakfast for my hubby and I. Oh, I would love to have some pancakes, piled high with Cholesterol and dripping with real maple syrup but instead I will have my big whallop of fiber and orange slices, along with a really pretty little pile of yellow stuff that doesn't taste like anything from the barn. Chickens should start a protest against anything trying to call itself "Egg" and tasting so horrible. Rubber would be an improvement.

Love all of you,

Hi Donna,
When I was in high school I would go running several days a week and I tried to also make it a prayer time. But I couldn't keep my thoughts straight and would forget what I had already prayed about so I came up with the finger idea. I assigned each finger a general topic...My thumb was praises and thanksgiving (always first, before I started asking for things :-) My pointer was world/national concerns, middle was family, ring was friends/school stuff, etc. and pinky was my personal requests.

When I stopped exercising so much in college, I picked up journaling and did a similar thing, but added a praise page. Every time a prayer was answered, I'd write it on the praise page as a reminder that God was indeed at work in my life and the lives of those I was praying for. Very helpful because I think we tend to focus forward too much and forget just how lovingly we've been cared for in the past. Why would that change for the future?

Now I journal at the computer and assign the weekdays as focus times because my lists are so long that I never make it through the whole list daily. I still pray for urgent needs daily, but the ongoing ones are done by category. I've also taken to praying for Israel daily, since I started reading Joel's blog.

Sometimes I take a break from it so it doesn't become too rigid. I'm in a phase like that right now...just spending more time in Scripture and praying for things immediately when I hear of the need. But soon I'll start to crave that organized prayer time again, so I'll go back and update my journal and get busy again giving thanks and asking God to help in a million different ways.

Hope that helps!

To everyone...if you're feeling a bit gloomy, check out on YouTube the comedian Tim Hawkins. We went to see him at our church last night and he was hilarious! He's a Christian and shares his testimony during the show, but alot of his stuff is just everyday funny observations and song parody. There's a ton of his stuff online. Bob's favorite was the bit on his favorite Bible verse. Carrie Underwood fans will enjoy his song, "Cletis, take the reel."

Have a blessed Lord's day!

Grany,

Thanks for the article regarding Theophostic Prayer Ministry. It was very good.

Mac, I appreciate you doing a little digging for me as well.

Grany, while I can't find anything in the article to quibble with, I was troubled a bit by the website that it appeared on. They are highly critical of Dr. James Dobson and the e-book they have on their website that is so critical of him was originally written in 1990 (based upon the copyright).

Rejecting Dr. Dobson sends off alarm bells for me. I have been repeatedly blessed by his ministry and find him very orthodox, wise, and balanced. He clearly loves the Lord and the Lord has used him greatly.

Anyway, the reason I was curious if anyone was familiar with Theophostic Prayer Ministry is because there are a number of folks at the Foursquare church I attend that apparently have really bought into it.

My wife and I don't know too much about it but what little we have seen and read about troubles us. Simply put, I don't think that if the theophostic prayer approach was so powerful and valuable, the Lord would have said so in Scripture.

Forgive me if this offends anyone but it seems to me like people who love to provide counseling and therapy to others often appear to me as the ones who need it the most! It's almost as if they gain some sort of ego boost or self-worth by "counseling" others about their problems.

We don't need counseling (in the psychological sense) so much as we need to follow what the Bible says about forgiveness and right relationships. At least that's my opinion. Maybe I need counseling;-)

P.S. Nobody has suggested I need counseling. It's just something that my wife and I have been observing and hearing about in our church and I'm getting concerned that leaven is being introduced into the loaf.

Jim G. said...

For those who are curious, here are a couple of links, one pro and one con:

Pro: Theophostic Prayer Ministry

Con: Theophostic Prayer Ministry (Thanks Grany!)

Jim G. said...

Point of clarification.

Dr. Dobson and Focus on the Family have nothing to do with Theophostic Prayer Minstry. It's just the website that has an article that is critical of Theophostic Prayer Ministry also has other stuff on the same website that is very critical of Dr. James Dobson.

Alf Cengia said...

Jim G; one thing I learned a while ago - if you dig enough, you'll find criticism of just about everyone in ministry. I used to listen to focus on the family quite a lot about three years ago. A local Christian radio station used to air the programs at 5 AM.

I've noticed in some articles I've read on Theophostic prayer, that there is a lot of psychology involved and the use of the word, lie. That raised some alarm bells with me because of my past experience with the "A Course In Miracles". That system used forms of psychology and frequently employed the use of the word, lie. My gut feeling is to be cautious with this system.

Hi Jim G.,
Quick comment on your counseling observation....
When my brother was a teen and going through a really tough time, my parents started working with a family counselor, hoping to get some issues under control before things spiraled downward. This counselor, George, worked with a Christian counseling group so they thought they were safe in choosing him. Long story short, he turned my brother against my dad, told my dad that he was failing as a father and added so much more distress to the relationship that my parents were fearful for my brother's life. At one point, the counselor even wrote my dad a letter telling him all the ways in which he was hurting his family and particularly his son. Only later did we find out that George himself had an abusive father and was clearly counseling from an unhealed/unbalanced perspective.

On the other hand, several years ago I started meeting with a counselor in our church's program because of the growing depression I found myself in. Next to Jesus, I consider her my life-saver ;-)
She was mature and unbiased and completely Scriptural in her approach. Unlike my brother's counselor, she was able to help me resolve relationship issues that were really a big source of my pain that I wasn't even aware of. I'd recommend her to anyone while we did the opposite with the other counselor. The problem is, you really have no way of knowing in advance if the person you're matched up with is going to steer you with Truth and no-strings- attached love.

Blessings,
Jen

never fear, the website and group are dedicated to taking women off the streets, getting them out of the asian sex industry, and providing them with means of work. they have a nice jewelry line-the money goes to the women who make it to provide them with a means of living. they also run safe houses, aids clinics and the one I found truly fascinating is a breast milk bank. if anyone knows of an actively nursing mother who could spare a little milk they take donations (and no I'm not sure how).

I read each of their projects in depth which is how I found out about the little 2 week old that the group bought back from the sex industry and that is when it was noted that some get sold for their organs.

it is a group that I am going to present to my church that perhaps we could support although I intend to regardless. you can also do a war chest party on your own-think tupperware :-) but for a better cause. the local group had a booth at the recent street fair in a neighboring town (talk about interesting and creepy, it rather was a freak show) so I got to see some of the stuff and made a purchase. they also make scarves and decorated boxes.

although not posted as of yet, the message at this church we went to yesterday was phenomenal. I used to go to this church a long time ago (about 20 years or so). the link will take you to the main church site and from there you can access both the messages and the outlines.

I will be exploring the other outlines and messages.

if you wish to listen live on Sundays you can do so online-the 11am est or edt service is broadcast from www.path.fm they have other messages during the week as well some of which will not be the best since the school that is the host seems to be sliding into post modernism. it is a source of pain for me that this is true since I went to school there.

Messages and outlines on the gospel of Mark check back for the one dated 10/12-it will truly make it's mark on you. the message is "can you handle the truth" and it's about what it means to be a follower of Christ. I wish the companion message from last night would be posted also since the pastor noted that even Paul toward the end of his life didn't think he had the daily walk with Christ perfected-something to think about. He also noted that we should be forgetting both about past triumphs and failures and look forward only and press on with our walk since dwelling on either could distract us from the task at hand

I am celebrating Christopher Columbus today and praising God for that man's brave voyage to far away places without strange sounding names. Poor ole Chris, what he went through to find a home that is blessed by God and abundant in all things, just so we could come and let the liberal loud mouths (that doesn't include our Donna) and try to ruin it. Oh, yes! This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. And as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord, have no doubt!

Mac, I just popped over to peruse your newest addition and I like it! Wow, man you is good!

I read all of the comments before posting this and I am adding all of the prayer requests to my daily closet conference with my Abba. Last night I got too tired to stay around and I didn't want to watch TV, or anything else and it felt strange. I couldn't read because my eyes were blurring everything up so I just leaned back, closed my eyes and relaxed. I had the most uptight feeling start immediately and I just was not having any of it. I reclaimed my mind for the promises that God is willing for my blessings and my walk with him is a sure thing. Based on his word, I told satan to take a hike, along with his bad attitude and reminded him of his soon coming climax. I also promised that I would repeat the same message every time he came near. I got up this morning and I feel great! I really rested and sleep came immediately and it was so good.

JIM G. The reason I gave you that link to the group you were inquiring about is very simple. To come to an understanding of what something is in this day and age you have to look at it from both sides, pro and con. Then you have to condense it and get rid of the personal arguments and leave only the foundational structures that the unit was formed on. Sometimes, the negative will be more of a bashing for bashing sake. Those comments I toss without delay because as Mac said, if they tend to mean mouth everyone else and point to their selves as the only truth, their arguments aren't worth the page they are written on.

As far as counseling is concerned; you have to realize that too is all dependent upon the quality of the counsel. I have some friends who I have known for eons, had problems when they were kids, had problems in marriage, raising kids, jobs, etc. and they are all my age, still have the same problems. Some have had counseling and some not. They are still the same mind set as before but just with different makeup on. They tried putting a good face on things when they hadn't washed their faces of the impurities they already had and it didn't work. They put a lot of smell good stuff on dirty bodies and it didn't work and all in the world that was lacking was a confession of sins and asking God to heal them.

Human nature is to avoid looking into the mirror at the person standing in front of them in all honesty. Searching my heart by the scriptures is the only solution I can trust. God loved me so much he gave me his precious son and he is my propitiation for change I can count on. (Thanks Obama).
I prefer the one-on-one relationship and know that my healer is in the house right along with me as I search for the answer. Changing myself and my attitude is more important to me now than ever before. I don't need excuses for why I act like I do; I need forgiveness and where else can I go but to the Lord.

JIB, praying for Phyllis and Dan!

Good looking blog spot! I just have one request if you could. Can you change the backround color of the blog to another color other than black. For some reason blogs with black backround drive my vision crazy, don't know why though. Thanks and God Bless!

Great Grany 5 said...

GT, you said that black colored backgrounds drive your vision crazy and I have to tell you something very important. Before it was discovered that I have a hole in the retina of my right eye, black colored anything had the very same effect. It was as if the color swallowed up my vision and it would almost make me ill. It got worse as the hole enlarged.

Please, go to an Ophthalmologist (M.D.) and insist that they do the computer exam of your retina. After it goes so far there is no correction available and you would lose the sight in the central part of your visual field. That means close detail and also distant vision will be curtailed until there is only a perfectly round spot in the affected eye. Please, I am very serious about this. The computer exam is very unique and only available at Medical Doctor's offices that specialize in Ophthalmology exams. That simply means Optic health issues.

My condition cannot be repaired and I have had to curtail driving, detailed reading and now it is affecting the sensory perception on the affected side. It isn't something you need in your life.

Additionally, keep it checked no matter what the outcome of the first tests reveal.

Grany,

I did enjoy that Wilkerson link as usual. I love that pastor. It would be such a blessing to have a later rain & harvest before the the catching up.

Today we took our friends (non-Christians) downtown Nashville for dinner, & see the sights.

This is my friend who mentioned "My Christianity" has distanced our friendship.

We had passed a Middle Eastern tarot card reader (w/crystal ball) on the street. (I noticed that "look" in his eyes.) On the way back to the car he had a customer sitting @ his table getting a reading and an African American couple waiting in line.

We walked a few paces past his table and suddenly I told Lorraine-quick take this "ticket to heaven" card and go put it on the tarot card table.(Thinking about the lady getting her fortune read) She questioned me but I said "just do it!" Then Melanie wanted to give one out like her sister so she followed.

My friend didn't know what the girls were up to so she followed them back to the table as as well.

I looked back & saw that Lorraine had not put it on the table but had given it to the woman standing in line. I asked her why she didn't do as I had asked her & she said that she felt she needed to help the person thinking about talking to the "Devil guy."

My friend came up to me and said the woman called and went after her. My friend said she didn't know what Lorraine had given her & she went on to tell my friend that just last night she was praying to God asking what she should do & felt like this was His answer! She was no longer going to go get her future told from this tarot reader.

Hallelujah-Glory be to God!!!

It also gave me the opportunity to explain what these "tickets to Heaven" tracts were & they also took one to look @ later. I think the situation of the lady running up to my non-Christian friend had an impact on her @ the same time.

Praise the Lord-if we would only allow Him to work through us more often!

(BTW-I just noticed the number on the top of these "tickets".
It's 777.) Since I keep talking about these if you want to see what it looks like Click Here

Thank you for the info about retina problems. I need to get a complete eye exam anyway, it has been too long since I have had any. I did have a retina scan and other tests about 10 yrs ago when I was having other problems but they never found a cause and the problem actually went away. The doctor had no answer and had no other recomendation for me so he didn't pursue it any further.

I did notice that when I re-adjusted my monitor brightness down a bit, the problem is much better. I think the contrast between black and bright white was causing the problem, my eyes could not adjust properly, like going from dark to light too quickly. God Bless!

Good perspective and commentary from a Jewish point of view...

Sukkot and Judaism's bailout plan

"The sages of the Talmud disagreed about whether the Torah's mitzvah to dwell in a sukkah was supposed to recall the physical huts the Israelites dwelled in during their 40 years' wandering in the desert or the mystical "Clouds of Glory" that surrounded and protected the Israelites in the desert.

The sages understood that the huts were a statement of Israel's love for God, in that they followed Him into a desert with no substantial means of surviving there. The Clouds of Glory, on the other hand, were a statement of God's love for Israel, in that they protected those who dwelled within them from the harsh desert sun, from snakes and scorpions, and from the spying eyes of would-be attackers. Whether regarded as a physical or spiritual entity, the sukkah represents the love relationship between God and the Jewish people."

Questions re Matthew 13, 24, and 27

Those of us who accept a pre-wrath view of the rapture (perhaps only two of us here at the cave -- Kathy and me) see Matthew 24 as a compelling passage for the pre-wrath view.

If I'm not mistaken, Grany and others believe that Jesus spoke this to a Jewish audience and we (Gentiles) therefore shouldn't apply it to our situation. This has raised a few questions in my mind that I'd like to pose.

1.) Does it apply to all Jews or just those who have rejected Christ prior to the rapture. My guess is that those who believe in a pre-trib rapture would say that Jews who accept Christ before the rapture would be taken up with Gentiles who have accepted Christ.

2.) If that is the case, then why would Christ tell this to his disciples who were clearly believers. Why wouldn't he clarify to them that these signs would apply to those who would not be in the rapture.

3.) Why would the rapture not even be mentioned in Matthew 24 (for those of you who view the rapture as taking place before the events described in Matthew 24)?

4.) Is the Great Commission in Matthew 28:16-20 for Jews only? I've always been taught that it applies to all disciples of Christ(including Gentiles) event though Christ gave it directly to the eleven remaining disciples. If all, then how do you know that Matthew 24 is just for Jews and Matthew 28 is for all disciples?

5.) Many people argue that the Holy Spirit is taken from the earth at the rapture and those who are left behind don't have Him. But Jesus said "And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." That seems to mean that the Holy Spirit will be with us to the very end of the age. To me, that implies that the Holy Spirit remains until Day of the Lord. From a pre-wrath view, I see the Rapture and the Day of the Lord commencing on the same day.

6.) Finally, I see the 3 references to the "end of the age" in Mt. 13:39, Mt. 24:3, and Mt. 28:20 as referring to the same time or closing event? Do pre-trib folks also see it this way?

Daniel 2:20, 21 ……. “Praise be to the Name of God for ever and ever;
Wisdom and power are His.

He sets up kings and deposes them.
He gives wisdom to the wise
And knowledge to the discerning.

It may be that then your prosperity will continue.

Daniel 4: 34 ……………His dominion is an eternal dominion;
His kingdom endures from generation to generation.
All the peoples of the earth

Or say to Him: “what have You done?”

Jeremiah 51:1,2 This is what the LORD says:

against Babylon and the people of Leb Kamai. (Iraq)
I will send foreigners to Babylon
To winnow her and to devastate her land;……”

“I will winnow them with a winnowing fork
At the city gates of the land.
I will bring bereavement and destruction on My people,
For they have not changed their ways.

Luke 22:31…..”Simon, Simon, S.a.tan has asked to sift you as wheat.”

I love this line out of the link about Tabernacles

"True faith is not the belief that because God runs the world, everything will turn out the way we would like it too. True faith is the belief that because God runs the world, however things turn out is an expression of his love for us and is for our ultimate good"

the other tabernacles article is something that had crossed my mind but still think that all three feasts will be fulfilled consecutively and will be fulfilled by Christ's second coming which has nothing to do with the rapture. I also think the illustrations used by the author seem to be stretching scripture a bit much for me at any rate. I also feel that trying to apply the Jewish feasts to the church specifically and not in the broader context of being fulfilled with Jews also is a sort of replacement theology.

that is so cool. isn't God's timing and work amazing?

regarding the BHO article last night about the secret service-it is of course possible that the two "agents" in question were folks pretending to be agents-perhaps the volunteer in question and a friend decided to "pay the person" a personal visit to make her point. then again who knows

Jim G,

While many to apply Matthew 24 to the Jews that does not mean that all scripture thereafter then has the same application to Jews only.

yes I do think believing Jews in the church age will be taken up in the rapture.

most importantly the question the Jews were asking pertained only to Jewish eschatology-the whole church age was an unknown to them as was the rapture which is why Paul calls it a mystery to be revealed. One needs to read that passage in the context of Jewish eschatological beliefs and not Christian eschatological beliefs.

The Holy Spirit's presence or absence on earth I guess depends on whether one thinks he is the restrainer to be taken out of the way. Personally I have no strong feelings on that one way or the other. Might be, might not be. not sure that it matters in the long run really.

that's all I have time for at the moment. I would suggest you read Dr Frucht's book "footsteps of the Messiah". It is quite intense but would fill in many of the questiosn you have far better than i could-especially since it does discuss Jewish eschatological beliefs

Our county's voting is a Mickey Mouse operation as it is! Let me tell you how bad. The guy in charge spent tax dollars to put his own face on the side of the van that the elections office uses. Now he's battling cancer, rather than step down or follow protocol, his wife has been his spokesperson at the press conference! His wife! She wasn't voted in. So, some days he comes in for a little while and some days he doesn't. During any other time, that might be acceptable, but we're less than one month away from one of the most important elections in US history. And the scandal is back in our county...again.

Now, let me tell you about our new ballots. The touch screen was great, very easy to use and very private. Apparently, the folks here have never heard the expression, "if it's not broke" don't fix it." The new ballot is the size of china. To vote, you connect two lines together with a marker. I could see everyone my husband was voting for from across the room. That shouldn't happen because that opens the doors for intimidation.

I'll let you all know how it goes on November 4th. I may stand there and refuse to vote until they provide a private area for me, not just a little table with two wing flaps.

Davie, we need your sense of humor really, really, reaaaaalllyyyyy! What has been going with you lately? Like the last 2 years!

Will you please tell Child we are wondering about her?

Hubby and I went out of town just before lunch and were amazed at how few cars and trucks were on the Interstate with us. It was kinda like a dream and it was that way most of the trip. Seems there was a real bad accident just west of our town that caused the highway to be detoured until the wreckage was cleared. So all the necessary announcements were made and as we exited onto the feeder highway to our destination, the highway patrol officer stopped us and said "How did you folks get onto this highway?" Duh! Well officer, it's like this, we took the access ramp where it said such and such, kept on going and finally got here. He looked at us as though we were from the moon and signaled us on. Coming home, we were in the middle of a bunch of cars and trucks all signaling to exit at a little town to the east of our town, remembering what had happened earlier we decided to exit also. Well, no accident ahead but we got to the main street at this little town in time for their homecoming parade. What a time and maybe it would be wise to hang up our drivers gloves and turn in our license before something really earth shattering happens.

The moral of my story: Don't imagine disaster when you are about to be entertained by a homespun parade. Have fun while you can and relax a little now and then.

Yeah it was Olly, Olly ox in free but I had a terrible time saying Olly so I said Auntie, auntie, Ox in free and the big kids let me get by with it. So, to make Anne feel needed and desperately wanted and missed, I made it Annie!

It is election year and anyone can say anything and get by with it. I am just trying out my limits is all. LOL

It was such a great joy to see our friends we used to share with at Joel's, commenting here. I have truly missed all of you and there was just a big ole black hole where you used to be. Mac has graciously and fearlessly offered to start a blog to discuss the Middle east and prophecy again. There is much to catch up with and a great big need for prayer involving Israel and all of us.

It is good when Brothers and Sisters come together in the Presence of our Almighty God to declare his Word and His Wisdom. The glory belongs to Him and no other.

Love you all,
Grany (WJM)

Jim G; just some quick thoughts. I see the great commission to be fulfilled by anyone who is saved and a believer. The disciples represented Israel but also the future church. So whether the rapture occurs pretrib, midtrib or prewrath, there is always someone (the 144,000?) still on earth evangelizing. The Holy Spirit is omnipresent, so even if He is the restrainer using the church in that role (I think He might be), He would still be present during the 70th week as He was pre-Pentecost. I think it’s interesting that the 144, 000 are sealed by the angels. Not sure what that really means though.

Dave, I set up the new blog hoping to reach more people interested in End Times who may not be saved. I think this was happening over at Joel's. I was looking for a more public format like Joel's. Might be a dud as there are lots of blogs out there. It won't hurt to try though. I may have to get a few of you guys on board as admin given the info you all provide. That was always the intent as well.

Homeward Bound,

I emailed that pastor & here is what he said:

Thank you for sending me the encouraging email.

YES...WOW...PRAISE GOD...finally an email that "someone" like
yourself really gets it.

TO: All Prayer Warriors
FROM: Pastor Mark Arnold (Web Site Below)

RE: Urgent Call for God's Plan A for America!!!

I've had more than 16,000 emails the past week. That count is two days behind, too. I just checked my other email that has come in that I still have to respond to and it's over 5,000 more. So...we are hearing back from ALL faiths and ALL political views...and 98 percent are true-blue all the way...and mostly understanding...but it's tough to get so many emails from people who say they are saved...and say they believe GOD...and they say they are strong in the Word - then accept socialism and stand by the "cause and need and want for change" and they have no
other excuse to give than they just WANT IT THEIR WAY - AND SO -
PEOPLE WILL JUST HAVE TO LIVE WITH THEIR CHOICE...and they
seem to believe we can handle taking GOD'S PLAN B.

I truly believe God has a perfect plan A for America.
I believe that GOD has a destiny and a purpose to fulfill.
I believe that GOD raises up and also deposes leaders.
I also believe that "IF" the CHURCH doesn't stand up now...WHEN
IT IS EASY...we'll never have another chance...to stand up.

The enemy's mad and persistent...and working overtime to overthow the "blessings" of GOD...but the devil is a liar.

I have heard from so many that they are "weary" and "tired" and "troubled" and almost seem to be much more comfortable "hiding out" keeping their fingers crossed behind their backs - then someway they can just awake and it's all over...and we just settle back and accept ANYTHING!!!

But that's not the stand of the Intercessor! We are positioned on the WALL. It's the stand of the prophet...and I completely agree just as in Elijah's day,
there were "MORE" on GOD'S SIDE that stepped forward ready to be
counted!

Pray with us, and pray for us...and pray for me...that GOD'S STRENGTH will enter us to keep us in His Care. Nothing can stop God and prayer warriors who know GOD...can MOVE GOD'S HEART...and WE CAN HAVE GOD'S FAVOR AGAIN!

Between you and I, we are NOT going to accept Plan B.

People from 50 States and 66 Nations of the World has already emailed us and called us. Please pray and agree for GOD'S PURPOSE to unfold in the next few hours!

Thank You.

Pastor Mark Arnold

I have a prayer request. To make a long story short, one of my kid's friends has become interested in witchcraft.

I have attempted to educate her on this topic, explaining how dangerous it is to get involved, etc., and how important it is to turn to Christ.

She seemed to drop it for a while, and now apparently is back into it.

Please pray for this kid and for this entire situation.

I need all the help I can get in dealing with this....and I would appreciate any practical suggestions.

Thanks.

Donna and Grany, thanks for missing me but I haven't felt I had anything to say lately. Grany, your words really touched me.

This political season is wearing on me. For the first time in our lives my husband and I are supporting different candidates and he is actively working to convince many others to vote Obama. Successfully. I am no match for him in any kind of debate (Lisa, you might relate to what it's like to get in a debate with a lawyer) and so I've just been holding him up in prayer. (I'm not saying that voting for Obama is against God's will, I just mean I've been praying for my husband to seek His will)

I'm not really a single issue voter but my prolife position trumps all the others, and this year especially when I consider the Supreme Court appointments.

Speaking of where are people, Jim C. are you still out there?

And Harold, where did you go?

I understand of course where you are coming from Jim G..."the end of the age" references in all three Mt. passages give compelling support to the prewrath position in my opinion. That, and 2 Th. 2. But you guys all know that! I asked this question a long time ago at Joel's...Why didn't Jesus tell the disciples who were believers, you won't be here, but for those left behind this and this and this will happen? He spoke directly to them...

Jib and Mac,

Just wanted to say thankyou for your replies to my earlier questions regarding Matthew. (I hope I didn't miss anyone else who may have responded.)

Mac,

You wrote:

What makes you "see" it that way? Is there something that in the text or context that leads you to that or could it be your doctrinal pre-suppositions are shaping the way you see that? I just don't see any basis (other than doctrinal presuppostions) to distiguish the two passages?

I think the disciples were simply Jews who recognized Jesus was the promised Messiah spoken of by the prophets. Gentiles (the wild olive branch) can be grafted in but we are all saved by faith. So their is no difference in Christ. He was speaking to his disciples, his followers, those who placed their faith in Him.

As for Israel, I definitely don't believe that the Church has replaced Israel. The Church consists of all believers. We are the body of Christ. Jews and Gentiles.

Israel of course is the nation and people through whom God chose to bring salvation. It was for the Jew first. Praise be to God, we can eat the breadcrumbs of Life that have fallen from the table of Israel so to speak. But, not all Jews will be saved. The nation is predestined to be saved but not all individuals who are a part of that nation will be saved (reconciled to God through faith).

So, I don't see how the Lord could have been speaking to the disciples as "Israel" in Matthew 24 but to the the disciples as the "Church" in Matthew 28. He simply spoke to them as disciples.

Interestingly, in Matthew 28 he said: "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Back in Matthew 24, there are some things that Jesus commanded his disciples to do in the last days. When they make disciples, shouldn't they teach them things that Jesus commanded his disciples in Matthew 24 such as:

""Watch out that no one deceives you. 5For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,[a]' and will deceive many. 6You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8All these are the beginning of birth pains."

and...

"23At that time if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or, 'There he is!' do not believe it. 24For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if that were possible. 25See, I have told you ahead of time.

26"So if anyone tells you, 'There he is, out in the desert,' do not go out; or, 'Here he is, in the inner rooms,' do not believe it."

And if you still maintain that those commands do not apply to those of us who are a part of the Church, why didn't Jesus clarify this when He gave the Great Commission to presumably the same bunch of disciples? (As Kathy has already asked)
