Luke 18:7-8

Luk 18:7-8 ....now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them? "I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?"

your comment about the cats was very funny. I'd love to have a Maine Coon cat (since I grew up in Maine) but DH is allergic. oh well.

Lisa, that is funny about your cats. Probably why I don't have any :)

My co-worker just got married and is headed for Cancun Mexico for her honeymoon. I know that they spent alot of money for this trip but I would not set foot anywhere near Mexico right now. Someone else at work joked that she would come back to work and spread flu to all of us. Not really funny conisdering the situation.

My DH is trying to figure out why the White House would have done that stupid fly over New York today. He does not think it was just an innocent mistake or stupidity on anyone's part. He sees something sinister. I wonder what it could be.

Gotta go to bed now. Will catch up later

Lisa, we've never had a major pandemic outbreak in decades, so the answer is no. Glen Beck this afternoon brought up the Swine Flu outbreak back in the 70's. One guy died of it, and the govt. suddenly went into panic mode, insisting the drug companies make a vaccine for it, despite the fact that there would have been no time to test the vaccine. Didn't matter, and finally the drug companies finally went ahead and produced the vaccine. In the end, the swine flu killed 13 people. Except for patient 0, all of them were elderly, infants, or had compromised immune systems. The vaccine to prevent the spread of the swine flu caused 500 cases of paralysis.

Lisa, that link to the "1918 Epidemic" that you posted is (to put it bluntly) horse hockey. I knew this the instant I read this in the second paragraph:

For instance, smallpox vaccine often causes syphilis, paralysis, leprosy, and cancer. Smallpox is caused by a bacterium. As such, you can develop a vaccine against smallpox, one which has been extremely successful -- so much so that there hasn't been a recorded case of smallpox (a disease that used to decimate entire communities) in the wild in 10 years -- IN THE ENTIRE WORLD.

Syphilis, on the other hand, is caused by a virus. Viruses work in an entirely different way than bacteria, so the usual techniques used in creating a vaccine don't work. It's also why they can't develop a vaccine against the common cold -- it's a virus, or rather a whole class of viruses -- and why penicillin isn't effective against the common cold. Penicillin is an antibiotic -- effective against bacteria but not viruses. My point is that unless the smallpox vaccine was contaminated with syphilis virus at some point (not impossible during the early days of making vaccines), then the smallpox vaccine CANNOT cause syphilis. Leprosy (or rather, Hansen's disease, or HD) is caused by a bacterium, not through any chemical reaction, so again, the vaccine would have to be contaminated for someone to contract HD from it.

This leads me to doubt every other claim made by this person regarding the Spanish flu or the Spanish flu vaccine. A just-as-likely scenario for the side effects he describes could be attributed to the practice of reusing syringes. Syringes at the time were made of glass, not of plastic. They (and the needles) were meant to be reused. This was the practice until relatively recently. (I say "relatively" relative to my status as a fairly young old fart.) In the book, "The Making of a Surgeon", Dr. William Nolan described an episode in the late 50's where he was taking blood samples from a group of people. After a few samples were taken, he took one sample, then found he couldn't pull the needle out of the patient's arm. He was shocked when the nurse asked if he had rinsed the needle before re-using: the hospital didn't have the budget to buy all the new needles it needed, and so reused the ones it had. Since the needles were being used for getting blood samples, it was not seen as necessary to sterilize them between uses, only to rinse them thoroughly. (He and the nurse did get the needle out of the arm by irrigating it with saline, but it took a long time and was painful.)

A more tragic example comes from the Soviet Union, in the late 80's. In the southeastern part of Russia next to the Black Sea, babies in the neonatal unit in one hospital were dying for no reason. The babies would be healthy, then they would get these massive infections as if their immune systems were shutting down. What's worse, is that there seemed to be no rhyme or reason as to which baby would become sick. Finally, it was traced back to two things: the fathers of the first babies to be infected had all worked in Africa. They all admitted to having sex with the local women (they were in another country, so it wasn't like they were cheating on their wives -- trust me, it makes sense to a Russian); they then came home and had sex with their wives. The babies born to these women had this strange immune deficiency syndrome that no one could explain. The second factor was the hospital's practice of reusing syringes. Like the hospitals in the 50's in the US, syringes were made of glass, and both the syringes and the needles were reused after they were cleaned (but not necessarily sterilized). As a result, this strange disease was also being spread to other patients in the hospital. It was the longest time before anyone made the connection to the disease known in America as AIDS, because of course, AIDS is a gay man's disease, or something that intravenous drug users in the Netherlands get, a capitalist disease that could not possibly affect (or infect) a good Socialist.

So my impression is that all the side effects this guy lists in his essay are either exaggerations, symptoms unrelated to the issue of vaccinations, or a result of the common medical practices of the day.

FWIW, the first confirmed cases of what came to be called Spanish Flu appeared in soldiers at Fort Riley, KS, who had been assigned the duty of burning the corpses of some horses that had died suddenly. It was windy that day, and all the men involved breathed in some of the smoke. Various units of The Big Red One were shipped out to Europe soon after, where the trench conditions made the spread of the disease inevitable. By the time it returned to America it had mutated slightly again, so that those who may have been resistant to it before were now susceptible. This is of interest to me, because my grandmother on my father's side died in 1921 in the last wave of the 1918 pandemic.

If you want to read a good book about life during an epidemic, read "The Doomsday Book" by Connie Willis. In it, time travel is possible, but the natural restrictions on it are so severe (in order to prevent paradox) that it's really only of use to historians. At Oxford, a doctoral candidate is supposed to be sent back in time to do research in 1340 England. Instead, because the technician is coming down with influenza and is confused, she is sent back to 1350 England, at the height of the Black Death. The book shifts between her observations of life at the time and life during the influenza outbreak in Oxford.

Nate, I intend to agree with you. Some guy shakes hands with Boo and within 24 hours he's dead? Yet, the tall guy doesn't so much as sniffle.

I heard Glenn yesterday talking about the flu shots in 1976. I had one of those "Aha!" moments. I was always having sore throat and tonsillitis, so my mom and doctor thought her and I should get the flu shot, the year... 1976.

My mom almost died. She was rushed to the hospital, couldn't walk, couldn't breathe. I was sick, but not as bad. They sent for me and made me take more shots. For a 16 yr old, that was a nightmare.

The doctor's later blamed the reaction to egg allergy. No one ever mentioned to us that the shots were causing paralysis and death.

Yea, I am leaning toward thinking this flu is a man made thing too. I read that it has swine, avian and human flu elements to it? My DH just found out last night that it has never before been seen in humans. He thought that it was the same one that was from 1970. We are both really wondering. And since it has never been seen before is what makes it dangerous. I am wondering if my co-workers think it is just your run of the mill flu, it has not killed in the U.S. Unfortunatley, I do not work enough to see the woman who is leaving for Mexico or many of the other women there. The next week should be interesting to say the least.

As bright as the sky

Those who are wise will shine as bright as the sky, and those who turn many to righteousness will shine like stars forever.
Daniel 12:3 NLT

Eternity to the godly is a day that has no sunset.
Thomas Watson

Deepen your shine

People spend thousands of dollars to last longer— exercise, cosmetics, plastic surgery, self-help advice, nutrition plans. We like life, and we want it to last, not just in some ethereal, nondescript expectation of a life hereafter, but in a real, fulfilling, purposeful eternity. We don't just want "forever." We want to know we will enjoy it.

Daniel is told what makes or breaks eternity in the resurrection: righteousness. Loving it, drinking it in, leading others to it, investing in it. Righteousness is the key. The quality of our righteousness on earth has everything to do with the quality of our eternity.

Those who are wise also know that there's a problem. We are inherently unrighteous. An eternity based on earthly righteousness is a devastating predicament for people who are, in their very genetics, infected with corruption. Are there any who can really lead others to righteousness? Will any shine like the brightness of the heavens? Or is the promise empty?

Righteousness is a gift from a holy heaven to an infected race. It comes from outside ourselves, available only through faith in its Giver. Those who are wise will tell others about this gift. Those who want to shine will know the Source of the light and will be completely preoccupied with Him.

Evangelism is one way to make an investment that never, ever ceases to bring abundant returns. God promises that sharing the Light with others will forever deepen your own shine.

Hello all,

I am lurking as usual, but am loving all of your comments.

Glad to hear that you are better Nate! The Philippians verses were on Bible Gateway this morning as the verses of the day. It also says to me that I should not have any complaints to serve the Lord in whatever capacity He has placed me at this moment. Look what He did for me!!

Alesia, you have been posting some great stuff!

Don't want to be a tin hat type but I have to admit that I have been wondering about the natural occurance of this flu thing too. Too many flags it seems. Lori, I have thought about your dream in reference to this too. I would be very, very uncomfortable taking a mandatory vaccine for this. I could just imagine being "isolated" with the others for refusing...or maybe I am reading too much stuff out there.

Grany, you made a comment in the last post re: some of the worst persecution has come from nominal Christians. Especially on end times issues and not acknowleding and believing that God is involved in every thread of our lives. I hear ya on that one. I find that more discouraging than stuff coming from non-believers.

I have stored away a good deal of food and am now working on TP and bottled water.

Most of all, I want to be spiritually ready. Has anyone else just felt the intensity of the battle increase lately? To fight against the flesh, stay focused on the Lord and continue to do the basics, ie: prayer and reading the Word has been more difficult for me lately.

JIB, great to hear that your dad is recovering!

Diana, my heart goes out to you and know that I am praying for your situation at home. You have a precious and Godly attitude!

PS: Marge, we ended up not going to Tacoma after all. Hubby got the flu (of all things!)and is still not 100%.

I'm not convinced that it is man-made. Previous flu cycles have been based on the migration patterns of birds from Asia, but this is a new mutation that doesn't require transmission from birds. It's not uncommon for different strains of illnesses to jump species. About 20 years ago there was an experiment where someone wanted to give someone a transplant from a baboon as a way to show that these cross-species organ transplants were safe and could provide a source of needed organs. Of course, the animal-rights groups howled, but the most telling argument against it (and what I think got the proceedure scratched) was the observation that there were a whole set of baboon viruses that had not crossed over to humans that would now have that transmission vector.

We had a lot of people die from "Avian flu" in 3rd world countries. The ones who died were ones who had close contact with birds, such as chicken, geese, etc. Calling this new illness "swine flu" was a misnomer -- it originally had characteristics of the 1970's swine flu, but it's different enough that it really doesn't qualify for that name. Not a lot is made about the transmission vector of these things. "Avian flu" is caught by people who hang around birds a lot. "Swine flu" gets caught by people who work around pigs. Human flu gets passed around by humans, and the news media continually harps on "air-borne contamination" as the way these things get passed around, while ignoring the biggest, baddest infection vector of all:

sh*t. AKA, poop.

When you work around birds, you end up walking in a lot of bird poop. Same when you work with pigs. Of course, this poop eventually dries to a dust, which then gets picked up by the wind or kicked up by walking across the farm fields, and some of it gets inhaled. The different flu viruses get excreted with the poop, and they don't die when the poop dries up. The pigs eat feed contaminated by infected bird droppings, and one small mutation lets the avian flu virus jump species to pigs. The pigs excrete this new virus, and pigs and humans are similar enough that it doesn't take much for this virus to make the genetic leap and voila, we have a new H1N1 virus, a combination avian-swine-human virus.

(BTW, it doesn't have to be passed through poop: this is one of the reasons you don't eat rare pork, but always make sure it's well-done. But poop is the most effective way of transmitting bacteria and viruses. Those signs in the restaurant washrooms about "All employees shall wash their hands before returning to work" aren't there just to satisfy some corporate Do-Nothing. Remember the baddest infection vector?)

So it hasn't been seen in humans before? That's what happens every year, with every new strain of flu virus. It's why you need to get a new flu shot every year. The way to keep from transmitting it is to listen to what the nice news reporters are telling you: sneeze and cough into your sleeve, use the alcohol-gel sanitizers, and WASH YOUR D*MN HANDS AFTER YOU USE THE D*MN TOILET I DON'T CARE IF YOU THINK YOU DIDN'T GET ANYTHING ON YOUR HANDS DO IT ANYWAY.

actually Jim C

you are incorrect on a couple things.

with the exception of diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus all vaccines (that I can otherwise currently think of) are against viruses not bacteria. one of the big problems with our current society is that we are "soft" from this perspective both in our ability to handle these viruses and with the memory of just had bad they were and why vaccines were hailed as society savers when developed. it wouldn't take a particularly aggressive virus to decimate our population with the folks opting their kids out of the vaccine programs. Most people forget that mumps, measles and rubella were at one time killers-we mostly think of them as nuisances but they can and did kill.

small pox is viral, not bacterial as you stated, and is a cousin to chickenpox. we as a world are very vulnerable to a smallpox outbreak since we depended to an extent on herd immunity to prevent further outbreaks. just after 9-11 there were innumerable talks on bio-warfare for medical folks especially on how to recognize things like smallpox which most docs wouldn't recognize if it leaped up and bit them on the tush

vaccines can cause paralysis by causing guillain-barre syndrome so that part was at least accurate. I might add there have been several cases of this syndrome with the new hpv vaccine as well.

Nate
I also had the same thought that this was somehow a manufactured thing and not a wild virus.

Lori
I agree that it seems odd that BOO shook the guys hand and Boo has nary a sniffle and the other guy died. We technically can't accuse him of taking it down there though since there is a 5-7 day incubation period.

jib said...

actually Jim youare not supposed to be able to get this from eating the meat-it is via aerosolized droplets like the common cold virus.

the reason we cook pork well and the reason it was likely made unkosher is due to a parasite called trichinosis not viral illnesses.

Grace,
I'm sorry your husband has been ill. Tacoma is still here, and waiting though :)

In answer to your question about spiritual warfare heating up, my answer would be a resounding yes!
I've found that it helps to surround yourself with Christian music, as much as possible. Because the lyrics go deep into your spirit. So, it's wise to create your enviroment as much as humanly possible.

Also, I just re-read a great book about Heaven. It's called, Heaven-The Last Frontier, by Grant Jeffrey. It's basic message is that we are on a spiritual journey, and that,..."this world is not our home, that we're just passing thru,...our treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue..." Well, we know that place "beyond the blue" is heaven. Our final destintion. And our present life is one of much testing. However, there is victory in Jesus! Amen.

Also a little something about the Flu of 1918. My Mother was a young girl during that epidemic. And she nearly died. In fact, it had been reported in her school that she had died. But her parents laid hands upon her, and prayed for God to heal her. And heal her God did :) So when my Mother went back to school, some of her friends thought she was a ghost, and ran away from her. Interesting.

Thought for the day: Do not neglect the doctrine of laying on of hands for healing. Flu, or no flu.

Continue on, and have a great day in the Lord! Our sunshine is in the liquid form today, in the Pacific Northwest :)

Love,
Marge

I have been reading all of the comments and links so I am a little late for greetings from Okieland. I did find something on the link that Lori posted regarding the 2005 attempt to combine Avian and Human flu virus. You might find it interesting:
PANDEMIC INFLUENZA STORYBOOKI noticed that there was a very serious 1957 epidemic with 70,000 people losing their lives. Whatever the cost in lives lost, this could be a man made episode with the cast of characters that make up the new tri virus characteristics of it. Swine, Avian, and human together sounds more like tampering with nature for mammon.

JIM C. Feces is a nicer word and makes the little grey cells go "what?".

JIB I think we know why the big BOO has sniffled even. AC's don't, you know!

But that Swiss train incident really has my antennae sticking up to attention. I found that the whole thing is in the process of Hush Hush! In fact, the things that are out there in the news media are just clay ducks for carny games and skeet shooters. The real events get reported by Debka File, and links like Lori gives us. Now I am pulling the plug the rest of the day on news because I think God is really trying to tell us something and we are being distracted from his message. I don't why I feel this way but for over 2 weeks I have a very difficult time trying to read my bible, pray and study along with Dr. Fruchtenbaum. So, I am going to just lean back and relax and contemplate what Thus Saith the Lord.

Talk with you all later,

It is 4 p.m. in Okieland and the sun is shining brightly and Son is not doing bad either in that area. In fact, His Light is getting brighter and brighter as darkness tries to steal our joy in the Lord.

Remember back on the last post when I requested prayers for LindaLou? Well, I thought you all might like to hear what she wrote me and I received today. Just an excerpt from her letter:
"At the time that you were prompted to pray for me we were lost trying to find a funeral in Mlps, we had been lost for about 3 hours and were getting worried that we would miss it, but we got there just in time. My mom was with us, the funeral was for her last brother who was in his 90's.
Once again, I so appreciate you and others who meet at Hydes place. I don't think it will be long until we get to meet. I think of that every day, what will it be like? Can you imagine how wonderful it will be to have strong new healthy bodies, and not have to put up with crooked politicians? That just make me want to dance a jig!"

Now the next time you are prompted to pray for someone but you have no idea why, instead of trying to analyze it and bring some sense to you in it, just do it! Our prayers are the very essential machines that move God's perfect will in our life. I just had to share it with you to help build up your faith in God's provisions and faithfulness. Have Faith for without it, it is impossible to please God.

Jim, no it hasn't happened yet. There are some logistical hurdles to be overcome before that happens and appreciate any prayers.

We were chatting on Yahoo when I made that comment. Alesia should now be nighty-night or praying before bed - in Cleveland. I'm still here in Melbourne.

On the subject of prayer - I'd like to request prayer for one of the members of the OL - her husband, actually. His wife fears that his faith may be waivering as he has a particular self-help book sitting on his desk at home and he's struggling over a few issues. Please pray that he places his faith in God.

Here's the latest on little Darian.
Received an e-mail from the church secretary where Darian's family attends.

******************
Faithful prayer warriors,

This Caringbridge advisory just came from Abby . . .

*********************
Good Afternoon,

Darian is having alot of rattling in his breaths. Keith from Hospice came this afternoon and was with Darian for quite awhile. Darian loves Keith, and so do we. Keith let us know that it would probably be sooner than later (within 24-48 hours) that Darian goes to see Jesus.

Although he sounds pretty bad, Darian is comfortable. He is now on oxygen all the time, and takes morphine every 2 hours, tylenol and adavan every 4 hours. As we approach this time in the journey-our hearts are sad, but know that a paradise awaits Darian. There is no easy way to say good-bye...and although many say there are no good-byes-we will have too soon.

Rest assured God knows this and will be with us-he will not leave us. Our hearts may break-but he is the great surgeon. So, lay your troubles and worries on him...and he will give you all you need.
****************

Keep up your intercession! The Lord is doing a mighty work in Darian’s life right now, as well as in his family, and we are the cheering section. What a privilege to be the ones standing by, calling out their names to the Father!

Praise His holy name,

Helen

I can only speak for myself when I say I did intend on getting you a wedding gift and if it is a gift certificate for air travel that works for me! or perhaps fees for federal government paperwork etc.

and thanks for the prayers. I am quite concerned about my mom-I have never heard of such a thing and it sounds quite dangerous and risky. sometimes a little knowledge is a bad thing

mike was transferred out of the icu this morning, temps and white count coming down but it is early days yet.

Hi Guys,

Please give me the run down on the book "The Shack", as it has been given to Adi and she is reading it. I remember some comments on it awhile ago and would appreciate any input on it. Thanks!

Watch out for those flying pigs and ducks, otherwise those swine will get you!!!!!!

Watching with interest as things start happening.

Mac and Alesia - you guys had better get moving or you could end up drinking lattes at the cafe....

All others - praying hard for us all.

Jen said...

Hi Jeri,
My mom also gave me the book over Easter and said she is recommending it/buying it for others, too. I did a little digging and found lots of criticisms of the theology, etc.
The thing that particularly stuck out as a problem for me was (yes, I know the book is fiction, but fictional works can still make deep impressions in people - just think of the Left Behind books and how we reference them as though the characters were real!) the representation of the members of the Trinity, with God the Father being a black woman called Papa. When I mentioned that to my mom, she said that she's just fine with the idea of God being gender-neutral (she means in reality, not in the book). She feels that since He created both male and female it's reasonable to see God as a combo of both as well. I reminded her that God is the creator and we are the creation and He can be solely "Father" without conflict. To me, it was a step in the wrong direction and clear evidence that the subtle deception that we know is coming is already well at work. My mom has a simple, almost child-like approach to life, always has, and it is a gift in many ways to not be burdened with an outlook that jumps quickly to cynacism. She takes things at surface level and doesn't have that interest in digging deeper like I do (I definitely take after my dad in that regard. I'm always wanting to know more or explore every nook and crany on a subject.) But that same simpleness about life lends itself to a host of other issues such a gullibleness and "chasing rabbits", as we often tease her. She's also a major peace-maker and doesn't like conflict, so it's hard to engage her in deep discussions on these topics because as soon as she detects disagreement, she goes into "sweep it under the rug" mode.
Anyway, I am gathering some info off the web to give her in hopes that Holy Spirit will speak to her (my words aren't going to make an impact since they are contrary to her views on the book). Perhaps those with a firm foundation in the Word can benefit from it in some way (but remembering that it's supposed to be fiction), however, I think for the target audience, it's likely a book that's going to send a lot of mixed messages. Also, I learned that the author has some very traumatic events in his life which were part of the inspiration for him writing the book...to finally settle things in his mind and deal with the abuse he went through as a child and how God could have allowed those things to happen. That was a red flag for me. I've learned from personal experience that someone who is trying to figure out the 'whys' of their own past aren't always the best person to turn to for counsel on those same issues in your own life. Often, their advice is going to be a work-in-progress as they sort out truth from what they have come to know as truth. You need to really make sure they've come full circle and are really grounded and healed from the hurts of the past when taking their advice to apply to your own life and certainly in something as critical as matters of faith.
I'd definitely try to engage Adi in more conversation about the book and trust that God would be willing and able to overcome anything that she's reading and absorbing that doesn't line up with Scripture. I don't think ignoring controversy does much good because Satan isn't going to back down from his pursuit to plant rotten seeds just because we're taking a casual approach to promoting Truth. Do alot of listening first and find out how it's impacting her, then pray over it and trust Holy Spirit to give you the right words and angles to respond with. Then rest in Him and prepare to be pleasantly surprised :-)

Just my two cents this morning!

Blessings to all,
Jen

Regarding The Shack. I read most of it and really could not stomach it. What I found particularly disturbing was that there was absolutley no fear of God at all. Remember, God is the same today, yesterday and forever. In the book He is portrayed as a chumy buddy, a nice friend, a patient counselor but there is not one mention of His coming rath or the fact that He is just, He will punish the unrepentant sinner. Yes, we are under God's grace right now but we all know that there is a time coming when He will pour out His rath on the earth. For pete's sake, He killed people in the old testament. Actually, in the new also. As in Acts 5 when Ananias and Sapphira lied about the property they sold and how much money they got for it. God struck them both dead for lieing to Him. We Americans tend to ignore those parts of God's character that we feel uncomfortable with. The shack is a bunch of baloney and I would recommend a good bible reading after reading the Shack to actually set one's mind in the right direction. The book takes how the bible portrays the trinity and makes God into a figment of man's imagination. It is very "spiritual" and so it appeals to the masses. It is really a sign of the times in which we are living.

Marge, Grany, Lori,
Yes, I feel it difficult to read or pray. I feel confusion set in. More so than usual. I am pulled every which way, husband , kids, work, cleaning. I understand why Paul talked about it being easier if one remains single! It is increasingly more difficult to devote time to the Lord when one's DH wants all of my attention! Of course, I am glad to be married and very glad that DH loves to lavish me with attention, but my time is so torn. So, everything that I do I try to remember that I do it unto the Lord. I love to pray when I am in the middle of scrubbing the floor or taking a shower or lieing awake in bed in the middle of the night.

Diana,

Great points about the Shack. We have several people in our neighborhood small group and all of their relatives that just love the Shack.

They gave me a copy. It all stopped for me when I read that God the Father was a large black woman. It was trying so hard to humanize God.

I read the rest of the book but just could not buy into it. Knew in my spirit and my mind that it was against the Word of God.

I think in the natural that people just want God to be more reachable, more understandable and that is why this is so appealing.

I have read alot of articles about the book and about the author. This is not a God or Jesus honoring book. I am amazed at the lack of discernment that some people have had about this.

I know what you mean about difficulty in prayer and reading the Word. But I think bottom line, I am spending too much time trying to see what is going on in the world (and waiting for the other shoe to drop)and neglecting drawing near to the Lord. Dear Lord, help us all to sit at your
feet!

JIB, Praying for your mom.

Jim G. I do not live far from you. Just up the freeway a bit. We have seen so very many kids with osteosarcoma. We have had several with it over the last few years. Too many.

As a matter of fact, God used a 19 year old boy from our community who was dying of the disease to bring me back to the Lord. Praying for Darian.

Mac and Alesia,

If finances are the issue I too would be happy to send some (as meager as it would be) help your way!! You guys are just precious!

Interactive Swine Flu infections Map (The future NAU sure stands out on the world view.)Two schools are closed in S.D. & one is in an adjacent town to ours.(Both have high Mexican populations.)

Not "the Shack" again. That book is a curse. It's the book my former Pastor in TN-Steve Berger had put a personal comment in so he promoted it in the Church lobby.

I sent the office some research I had done on it not knowing how "married" to the book they were-we'll I found out! Right before we moved he made sure everyone took a copy of a Christian "Calvary" Magazine where he wrote up a column of a great Book review on "the Shack".

This was really quite shocking to me at the time because the Pastor really upholds the Word of God. He was also promoting "Purpose Driven" material which almost sent me over the edge. In the same stack of info I included allot of discernment info on Rick Warren.

I guess some things I just don't understand. Maybe it's a war in the Pastor between the Spirit & the flesh.

Fortunately that Pastor is surrounded by wonderful Elders & just had that Prophecy conference w/Chuck Missler. Steve Berger was always leery of prophecy (which was one of my big gripes) but God may be using his mentors will rub off on him.

God is longsuffering & so patient with us-Praise Him in all His goodness! He knows the future-plans things out & takes it in stride.

I on the other hand-become alarmed & ready to freak out. Fortunately, I did bridle my panic in the TN situation & remained "in Christ". It was & is a great lesson to watch how God moves, follow the Spirit's unction-then sit back & see how circumstancs play out-God's way. (When we put ourselves in the middle of these situations is when trouble crops up.)

* The Pastor begin to "get it" now that he can see Rick Warren wiggle out of his Biblical stance on the gay agenda.

What I do miss is some of the worship music there. When they played the "Revelation" song-many times the Spirit's presence was deeply felt.

The Shack. I read it. And all I can say about it in a positive way, is that it can open the door to start a conversation about the real Jesus. And God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit for real. This book should have the word FICTION in LARGE type on both the front, and back covers, and thru out the book. I wouldn't recommend anyone reading it. I gave my copy to a Gal that doesn't believe in God, period. I thought maybe it would get her to thinking about the possiblity of there even being a God. For what it's worth, and my two cents, I'd say this book is garbage. Probably the best thing I can say about it, really.

First of all, Jim G, thanks for posting the update. Darian is now with Jesus. His family will definitely need God's strength at this time.

Uncle Bob was a hospice volunteer and got to spend time with Dr. Alfred Smith, Billy Graham's first song leader.

Dr. Smith at some point was privileged to be allowed to examine the journals of George Mueller, who was a prominent person in the church age of missions, church of Philidelphia that Jesus told John in Revelations, he found nothing wrong with that church age.

Anyway, Dr. Smith noted in the margin many times, Mueller had written, "The fruit of prayer is found in the garden of Praise." imho, that's the answer to our current spiritual slump.

Myself included, we need to fill our homes with praise.

You all know that Ray Gano has always been very plain spoken and right to the point. His dedication to God's word is never in question and his work to present the truth is without question, dedicated.

I received this from him today and wanted to share what he has to say about a whole new subject that is hitting the internet now. I will give you the link if the page will allow me to but his material is available from Prophezine.com

Here is what Ray had to say:
"Researcher: America's Faith Tribes Can Restore Nation

OK... I am getting on my soap box for this one...

What a crock of pig drivel. Seven Faith Tribes?

Yea.. That is right and this is coming from George Barna the famous Barna Group who does all the statistics. Personally George, stick to bean counting, you grand ideas stinks to high heaven of multiculturalism and totally lacking what God's Word says.

2Ch 7:14(KJV) If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

That is how we heal that land, not turning to Muslims, Mormons, Pantheists, and oh yea...Skeptics.

Yep this is the kind of teaching that is coming out the church today. Makes me want to gag.

Yep... this one set me off, I can not believe how ignorant people can be at times.

Ray
Prophezine"

Here is the link AMERICA'S 7 FAITH TRIBES.

I agree with Ray. Why do people bypass God's word and ways to devise their own methods of repentance? I guess they don't want to give God too much power.

Grany

jib said...

oh I don't know Grany he did have at least one part of a sentance that was accurate and his statistic of 66% casual Christian and 16% captive or what i assume he means as sold out to Christ might actually be accurate. I mean all of us have posted at one time or another that we think we are in the Ladodicean age. someone i read recently said if you want to know why we lost the culture war in this country look in the mirror. his point was not that you or I specifically were at fault but that the church was at fault for not standing firm, becoming wishy washy, trying to make Christ culturally relevant and not being a separate people. while Beck thinks it started at the turn of the last century that isn't precisely true i think. I think the seeds and roots likely go back to the age of rationalism and enlightenment-Voltaire, Kant etc. Add into the mix the advent of Darwin and his alternate origin of man relieving man of answering to a higher power and you start to see the decay of society.

the single part I did agree with is that we did as a country and individuals work hard at one time to achieve big things, be rewarded, and for that sense of acheivement. He is correct in saying i think that what drives a lot of people Christians included is a sense of entitlement-i deserve this because... fill in the blank.

that whole sense of entitlement is what underlies the progressive mentality. every one should have equal outcomes regardless of whether the effort of the people in questions is equal or not. this is one of those prinicples that Beck has been talking about. The founding fathers only promised opportunity for all-they never promised equal results for all and it would be the height of something to assume that equal effort should produce equal outcomes. they don't.

thanks for posting the update. when i read your last posting I didn't think it would be long. God's grace and peace be with the family and for them to mourn as those who have hope not those who don't.

JIB, great points and something that I skimmed over. But we are in real trouble if his statistics are accurate about the 66% vs 16% which I also took as the 16% being sold out to Christ. What are the rest of the missing 18% doing?

JIM G. I went to the link for Darian and read his story and viewed his photos. What a precious little boy and my heart cries for the parents too. The loss never goes away but the memories become softened with time, Lots of time. We are all needed to continue our prayers for them.

LISA, thanks for sharing that link with us. I am going to stop posting and start enjoying it as soon as DHJ gets through with lunch.

I will pray for Darian's family and friends. Even when you know they are with the Lord, they are not with you, and it is very hard. Also for everyone elses prayer requests. We also need to pray for the family that were the first to lose their baby to the flu in the U.S. I know they are not originally from here, but they are hurting!
This flue is so strange. We have been having reports of 2-3 here in South Carolina, but you never hear of it on the national news. I thought they were reporting this stuff! Weird. I hate to be so skeptical about things, but what choice do we have given the circumstances being so strange? I just leave it in the Lord's hands. He knows what He is doing.
As for the book the Shack, I read it. It was a strange book to me. OK for fiction. The only real good I saw was that the main character was forced to face himself and his flaws and try to get it right with G-d. Whoever G-d is to you. I was also deeply concerned that G-d was portrayed as a woman. The excuse in the book was because the man couldn't receive what he needed from a Fatherly figure, given the abuse he had received as a child. Later, G-d morphed back to a man, after the main character made peace with his past. I suppose G-d will reach out to you anyway He can, through whoever He can. I was just concerned that morphing Him into different characters implied the new age scenario that "all paths lead to G-d." No matter what you believe He is. I agree it sent mixed messages. Could be because the main character was so mixed up!
One thing I wanted to bring to everyone's attention today is to really pray for our government. They are voting on legislation for hate crimes, making it a more severe punishment if you hurt someone because of their race, or because of their sexual orientation. A senator on the news today is begging everyone to contact their legislators to stop it from going through. He said that, if it makes it through, and right now they're pretty sure it will, they will be able to prosecute ministers if they preach against homosexuality, or if they refuse to marry a gay couple.
With all of the bad news, I wanted to post some good news. We go to our Rabbi friend's house on Monday to learn about Old Testament from a Jewish perspective, and what different things mean. We have learned some wonderful things that give great insight into the Word! This week we learned that they Immerse in a Mikvah. It is a pool, suppose to be built inground without a seam in the concrete to prevent seepage. It has to be filled with "living" water. ie water from rain, a stream, river, creek, ocean, ect. Not man-sterlized but G-d sanctified! Being immersed in their faith is being immersed in the Living Torah or Word of G-d, and we know who that is a picture of! It is also their version of being "born again!" Pretty cool! Anyway, this Rabbi is the same one I posted about a few weeks ago that was healed from kidney stones. He was healed on Friday night and on Monday was suppose to have surgery. When he went to the doc on Monday, the doc told him to put his clothes back on and go home, he was fine! Anyway, one of the ladies with us asked him if we could pray for him again Monday night. There was such a wonderful presence of the Lord! He just stood there for several moments afterwards, basking in the Lord's presence! One of the ladies tried to speak to him and he said, "I don't want to talk to anyone or be touched. I just want to keep feeling this!" I just wept. It is so awesome to see someone discovering the presence of Lord! It is so precious! I saw him at the store the next day and we talked. He told me he had been healed of lower back pain the night before! I told him it was wonderful to find out that it is real and he agreed! The Lord is doing a great work! It's not just with him, I am seeing it with other people too! As darkness grows across our land just remember, we know the Source of Light! As we see the deeds of satan grow and wax worse, call on the Lord boldly and loudly! He is faithful and He will shine through the darkness and meet our needs!

I was shocked at this new "seven tribes" thing coming from Barna. I have read a few really well written books by him and I had no idea he has this kind of thinking on things! I read "Pagan Christianity" and something else by him and another guy that I don't remember. What a bunch of baloney that fits so nicely in with all of the other bunch of baloney out there. I took that 16% to mean the ones sold out for Christ, which is actually scary to me! Do I even live near anyone else who is sold out for Christ?

Although I think George Barna went out on a limb with the (supposid) 7 Faith Tribes, he is out there, gleaning statistics from the general public, and doing what he does best. Reporting. Maybe he should stick to that, and not add any additional spin to it. I saw the report awhile back, as I am on his newsletter list, etc. I wondered where he was coming from at the time. An interesting concept. However out of whack.

Pagan Christianity, was writen by George Barna and Frank Viola. An excellent read. And I also have another book by George Barna, called, Revolution. (finding vibrant Faith outside the walls of the Sanctuary.) Also an excellent read, IMHO.

Anyhow, no need to throw the baby out with the bathwater, right? If anything, George Barna needs our prayers to keep him on the right track. We all do, from time to time. I know I do, at least :)

I would venture to say, that the stats reports on committed believers, is pretty accurate, though. I dunno. I can't say that I've run any polls recently, or anything. And especially around the Pacific Northwest. We have quite a lot of "tree huggers," that live here. Right, Kathy, and Grace? Oh yeah. Save the whales, too. But unfortunately abortion hasn't slowed down, from what I've seen, or heard of lately, etc. However, prayer changes things. So, let's keep praying and believing. That we all should agree on :)

Have a great afternoon/evening!

Love,
Marge

Diana! Kudos to your Dad! G-d has placed him in a great place of opportunity! He could very well impact his friends' lives with his! I know the Rabbi friend we have made has been impacted greatly by the power of G-d! We have to pray over every step because we get excited and want to just give him a little push....but the Spirit of the Lord won't let us. We are trying to be very patient and cover him in prayer. He is watching us and listening to us and enjoying the presence of the Lord! G-d will do the rest. He is very excited about finding people who really believe and who really see the power of the Lord! It has peaked his interest and he is quoting New Testament scripture to us! It is so beautiful to watch! It's great that your father is learning Hebrew through the songs also. Hebrew is the eternal language! Zephaniah 3:9 says "For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the Lord, to serve Him, with one consent." I believe it was Jack Van Impe who said they put all of the languages of the world into a computer to find out what the original language was. It was pure Hebrew! That is so awesome! We know that language was confounded at the tower of Babel, but G-d will remove the curse and we will all speak one language again! And we won't have to spend years learning it!
While I am on here, I would like to request prayer for my brother Bruce. He has had a drug problem for several years. He is 42 years old with a pacemaker and we suspect it is because of the drugs. He was taken to the hospital today with a seizure. Apparently he had taken someone's Depacote. They sent him home. He has been running from me for a long time, he says I preach too much and he is ok with G-d not to worry. He visited me yesterday and actually sat down and talked with me about how it looks like the Lord is coming back soon! Pray he will give his heart to G-d before it is too late! Thanks.

campsmore, I see you found out how the voting on the hate bill turned out. I had to run some errands, so I am just finding out myself. I suspect it will greatly change the landscape here in America. It's changing so much so fast it's hard to take it all in! You know that someone is going to take advantage of its passing and try to put some poor preacher in jail! We need to pray for our pastors!
I have been thoroughly reading everyone's post, though I haven't made all of the links yet. Man! Has this day's blog grown quickly! It takes forever to scroll down to the bottom! LOL! One thing I see, even though we all are going through things, and are somewhat alarmed by what we see, we are strong enough to pray and encourage one another! What a testimony to faith! There is good amongst all of this bad news! It is so great to see everyone bind together and uplift one another! This is what serving G-d is all about!

OK. I waited until I felt strong enough and then read Darian's page. Now I am sitting here snubbing. I will never understand someone so young and so innocent having to leave life so early. I know he is with the Lord. I know he is happy where he is. I guess I mostly hurt for the parents. I have 4 grown children myself and I know a situation like this would be very painful. I don't know him personally, but there must have been something about him so precious that the Lord desired to bring him to Him! With things going like they are in this world, and looking up believing His coming is soon, it won't be long and those who miss him will get to be with him again!

Jib, shalom! My apologies, you are right about the smallpox, etc. being viral based. (That's what I get for trying to be coherent after 3 hours of sleep.) I stand by my statement re: pork, though. Trichinosis is the disease that everyone thinks of, because that's what lots of the pigs on the family farms up until the 50's carried. Once they stopped feeding the pigs uncooked food (the slops), that started minimizing the infection rates; and commercially raised hogs now eat grain feed. That means the trichina worm infections have virtually disappeared in North America. There were only 5 cases in America in 2004, most of those from eating wild game or bear.

But trichinosis is only the best known disease you can get from pork. Two others you have to watch out for are yersiniosis (bacterial disease, gives you diarrhea), and cysticercosis (caused by tapeworms, and in serious cases can cause death and blurry vision.)

As a science fiction book I read years ago put it, "There aren't that many diseases humans can get from cows. That's why we can eat their meat rare. There are many more diseases that pigs can pass on to humans; that's why we eat pork well done. But every disease in humans can be passed on by eating human meat. THAT'S why you don't eat people."

Gotta get back to my daughter's laptop. The tools I need came in late yesterday, which is why I only got 3 hours of sleep.

Oh, and before I jump back into my daughter's laptop, let me share something I sent to Glen Beck:

Greetings! I've spent most of the afternoon watching that video showing the crowds in New York running in fear from Air Force One, and I finally realized what it reminded me of:

Flying over the wilderness with a rifle in hand, culling the herd, taking out the old and the injured.

POW! "Grandma!" "Run, Jimmy! Save yourself!"

POW! "Ah, fer cryin' out loud, man! It's just a broken leg from skiing!"

POW! "God, I KNEW I shouldn't have worn the stilettos today!"

Hey, in the end, it cuts down on health care costs, enabling us to provide more coverage under the Obama health care plan. Deal with it.

Christine,
The songs at the Jewish cener last night were amazing! It is a center on the campus of the university that is near my home. They were celebrating independance day (61 years I think). There were a ton of people there and food and lots of kids running around. Great festive atmosphere. The band my dad is in did aobut 10 songs, all in Hebrew. Some of them made me cry, they were so beautiful. The band was introduced as being unusual because it is composed of Jewish musicians and Christian musicians who preform in praise bands in their churches. The last song was the Israel national anthem. Every one stood up for it and most in the room sang along. My children loved it! My duahgters told me after that they wish that they were a part of all of that. The envy the tradition and the love of country that the people there shared. It gave me great opportunity to talk more of what the bible says that we are grafted into spiritual Israel and that the eyes of the Jews are not open right now but after the "times of the gentiles" they will be open. It may have given them more interest in learning about the jewish feat days and what they mean, I have been wanting to teach them for a while but they have had no interest.

It is raining here, again, today. It needs to quit so the farmers can prepare their feilds and plant! I hear that they are getting nervous.

Hope you all have a great day in the Lord!

CRY OF the FOOLISH VIRGIN
-by Shelley 'B'.

I just wanted to share with you something that the Lord showed me.

I've had a strange experience a couple days ago.

I was praying and then I heard in the spirit the most mournful
horrible cry I had ever heard. It was a woman's voice and she
was crying, "OH LORD!!!!" I showed mom what it sounded like
and she said that it was really freaky and scary, I AGREE!!!! I was really shaken by this because the Lord had warned me about a
week before that, that I was in danger of being part of the foolish virgin because I was not pursuing Him for intimacy with Him, and that He was no longer my first love, and that I was drawing back from Him whenever He would draw near because I was afraid to
give up everything for Him and obey Him completely.

Late Night Lisa said...

I sensed that it was the cry of the foolish virgin and I told Daryl
what I had heard, and he said that he had heard the same cry the
day before, but she didn't say "Oh Lord." it was just a terrible
mournful cry. That kinda shook me even more. I had been feeling
in my spirit sorrowful, I knew I was missing the Lord but I felt that
He was warning me, but that there was still hope because if there
wasn't He wouldn't have said anything.

Late Night Lisa said...

(Here goes the rest-sorry I can't get it looking right-maybe you can copy it & repaste.)

So with the help of the Lord I have resolved to seek HIM NO
MATTER WHAT, and to not draw back from Him when He draws
close to me again and to say YES to His call and to obey Him.
I repented from where I had fallen, I'm nothing with out HIM, and I know that I can't do it without His help! I have to surrender all and choose to obey Him and say like Job said, "Yay though He slay me, yet will I serve Him!!!'' Lord help me!

A while back the Lord showed me what the problem was with
the foolish virgins, He told me that first of all, they didn't have a consistent intimate relationship with Him, they only came to Him when they felt dry spiritually, they weren't putting Him first in their lives, that He wasn't their FIRST Love, and secondly they were not obedient to His call on their lives.

Being honest with myself, I knew that was me. I'm sure that MANY
in the church are living the same way, and that's so scary. Well
there were 10 virgins and 5 were wise and 5 foolish, that means
that 50% of those vergins are unfaithful to the Lord. That's a HUGE NUMBER!!!! The Lord also showed me, that these foolish virgins were indeed born again, because they had Lamps and had some oil in them, which signifies the Holy Spirit in their lives. Also the other thing He showed me is that they ALL went to sleep!!!

ALL of them, and the Lord is warning us, that if we are at all aware of our state to take it serious NOW or we may fall asleep and end up not being ready when He returns. He also said to me that He is coming VERY SOON...

I had a vision last spring, of seeing in the Spirit realm, and it was early dawn, and I could see on the horizon that there was light
coming. The next day I was praying and the Lord shown me it again, He spoke to me and said, "It's the dawn of My return and my glory is already shining upon the earth!" At that moment, my spirit began to cry out, "Lord COME!!!!" and then in the same breath being shaken by that revelation I said, "but Lord make us ready" and I repeated these things over and over again for a long time, the Holy Spirit was moving me soooo deeply. I knew that it was a NOW vision, I was not seeing something that would
happen soon, but what was happening right at that moment in
time. Oh... and the second time I seen it, the horizon was MUCH
MUCH brighter, and I thought, if this is what is happening right
now, it's happening REALLY FAST!!! He is soooo close to coming
now! He also told me that Satan can also see His glory and that
he was going to increase his attacks and deception because his
time is very short now.

Also the Lord said that His glory was going to start to shake things
upon the earth and that He was going to judge His church and deal
with the sin in it because He is coming back for a church that is
without spot or wrinkle. Things were going to get turned upside
down. I pray that the Lord will use this email to stir you for Him too.

Don't take it lightly, I am shaking in my boots. There is NOTHING to fear if we are in obedience to Him. BUT Jesus said that we should fear God who has the authority to cast us into the lake of fire. If we are truly in Him, in obedience and in a deep relationship with Him, then we have NOTHING TO FEAR, but have only to look up and wait for our redemption!! ^___^

It is time to return to HIM with all of our hearts, we don't want to be part of the Foolish virgins, I just can't imagine being separated from Him for eternity!!! >_< Lord have mercy on us, deliver us from all evil and help us to return to you with our whole hearts!

Mat 25:1 "Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five [were] foolish. They that [were] foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
While the bridegroom tarried, they ALL slumbered and slept.
And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom
cometh; go ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and
trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered,
saying, [Not so]; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go
ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they
went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went
in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open
to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know
you not. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the
hour wherein the Son of man cometh."

And may He stir our hearts and bring unto us a sorrow that leads
to repentance, before there is no more time for repentance. Today
is still the day of salvation, He says to us, when we hear His voice, don't harden your hearts as they did in the wilderness, He says that He swore in His wrath that they would NOT ENTER into His
rest. He says, that while it is still called today, strive to enter it!

Hbr 3:12 "Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called Today; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end..."

Lisa, That must have been a weird experience. After I read it, I found a website that is really good called, The Parable of the TEN Virgins.

By the way, I spent most of the morning during and after my devotion in praise and worship. What a way to get out of the slump! I only turned it off because my son is studying. (He likes quiet)

Anyway, thanks for sharing.

Christine and newcomers, if you go to the archive blogs from Dec 2007 you can pretty much find the story of how we got here. I know, I know, the first post has 349 entries!

So, to make a long interesting story short, we were all meeting on Joel Rosenberg's blog, back when he allowed comments. It got pretty contentious with some interlopers chiming in with all kinds of insults and obscenities towards us and towards Joel. Joel shut down for awhile and we all missed each other dearly. When he started up again all the bad stuff started, too, but I noticed so many of the regulars were not posting and I lamented how much I missed everyone. Alesia was kind enough to ask me to email her (since I don't post my email address) and when I did she told me to visit a cave in Afghanistan! :-) I met a most gracious Mr. Hyde there. That's about the time Joel stopped comments altogether and I assume why he doesn't allow them now.

That's my story, and I would love to hear more details about our very own online romance, too.

(It's taken about an hour to write this since I am being interuppted over and over by two darling little ones in my care today, so sorry if I'm making a bunch of mistakes!)

ANNE, enjoy the interruptions because when you are a Major Senior Citizen they will be the precious memories that fill you life with reflections of love and time well spent.

MICHIGANER:
The unfolding of a true life romance was started in the archives of Joel's Epicenter blog and are sealed forever in Google. But it was great or at least, I am assuming it was. It might take hours upon hours to connect physically from Alesia to the cave but the internet is instant and wonderfully created to erase the time zones. Love is a many splendor thing but sometimes it is full of splinters. Hehehehe Not this time though!

MAC & ALESIA, AND COMPANY: I am praying for all of your access roads to be made straight, smooth and without potholes. That the little trials be dealt with in victory and great authority fully in tune with the commands and purposes of our Abba.

Vicky & All,

Anne pretty much covered how we all came to be here, at the cave.

Mr Hyde is Mac. Good thing he had 2 identities because when all the bad stuff was going down at Joel’s, we were able to start this site & not have undesirables find us here.

As for the romance….
Do you believe in – love at first keystroke? Haha
Well - Mac came to my defense against the mean Mr. Carroll, :) at Joel’s & I took a fancy to him after that.
Actually, I have JCChick (someone who was posting at the time & still occasionally) to thank. She emailed me asking me what was up with us two, because we were flirting up a storm.
I was mortified!
I emailed Mac & apologized for the flirting (didn’t realize it was so transparent), we’ve been inseparable (heart & mind) since!

The freaky thing is, I have always wanted to go to 2 places, Arizona & Australia.
Never had a reason for either but I found my birthmother living in Arizona & now the LOML in Australia!
Mac had a rather vivid dream years ago, where he just kept hearing my name (and my name is NOT common)

We’ve been able to keep this under wraps for a really long time – I guess the cat’s out of the bag now! hehehehe

Thanks for fixing that! I copied & posted it in Notepad-unchecked Word wrap-but no go. So, How did you do it?

When I read this part:” He also told me that Satan can also see His glory and that he was going to increase his attacks and deception because his time is very short now."

Oh-yeah! It's not real fun but the increase in prophetic signs-especially the ones which effect "everyone's" daily life-like the swine flu-does provide opportunities to speak of the Bible & end times. (Everywhere I go now-people are talking about it.)

Although we should be aware of what's going on- I can see if we spent all of our time researching prophetic happenings @ this point in time it would now be a full time job & could lead into a distraction from witnessing in a prime harvest period.

And- if we are in a period of "Acceleration" w/little to no lulls between contractions it will be of utmost importance that we have our minds set on the Kingdom & Holy Spirit's leadings daily.

Otherwise we could be prey for either Satan using an overload of information as a time distraction or the information/situations (foreknowledge) eventually paralyzing us with fear.

Mr. Cunning slick Serpent will be after us watchman types-probably employing different strategies to make us ineffective as a vessel for Christ.

Most of us have been feeling the oppression of evil standing by-but w/the Holy Spirits guidance we can be aware of Satan's spiritual warfare tactics & how to deflect them.

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war, with the cross of Jesus going on before.

Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe; forward into battle see His banners go!

Lisa,
You wrote about some of my latest thoughts...I'm feeling led away from the news and even checking every blog/website I frequent because of the info overload. Most of it confirms what Holy Spirit is telling me but the time it takes to read/digest it all leaves less and less time for prayer, waiting on the Lord and just getting out there to mix with those who are seeking answers. I haven't been nearly disciplined enough about it, but I think I'm going to have to limit my web time to a once-daily session or something like that.
Diana also said the other day about understanding Paul urging the people of his time not to marry/have a family because of how much time it takes away from pursuing God. I used to think that was just a grumpy old man talking ;-) but now I find it's so true! I guess I want to have my cake and eat it, too!

Michael Boldea's blog Homeward Bound, is worth taking a look at today (Thursday 4/30). I think Lisa linked yesterday's post and today's is a continuation of the subject.

"There is so much deceit floating about, that unless one is tethered to the Word, unless they filter everything by Scripture, they will be stained by some doctrine or another, or draw certain conclusions that have no Biblical basis."

Caution. You could read Michael as post-trib or mid-trib, I don't know what he belives on that and I don't mean to start anything by recommending his blog. I think he is just warning us that some form of persecution/tribulation is heading our way.

Lisa, Jen and Anne, great comments and yes, there is a big increase in attacks but there is also a huge crowd of scared people out there in that crowd we are trying to avoid. Why do you suppose during these times of great upheaval and Change that could scare us out of our complacency that an epidemic of major proportions is now in progress? To avoid the crowds and stop shaking hands, hugging and this just leaks of Satan's handy work. My bible still tells that God is not the author of evil. So, if he isn't, and we know he isn't, then who created the virus that has found a welcoming mat in Mexico and the USA?

Evil is at hand but as I was coming home today from Ft. Smith, this scripture came up inside like a sledge hammer: When the enemy comes in like a flood the Lord will lift up a banner against him. Isaiah 59:19. But here is all of that verse in the King James Bible:
So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him." Now remember, the original scripture does not have punctuation.

But here it is in another translation: New American Standard Bible (©1995)
So they will fear the name of the LORD from the west And His glory from the rising of the sun, For He will come like a rushing stream Which the wind of the LORD drives.

GOD'S WORD® Translation (©1995)
The people of the west will fear the name of the LORD. Those in the east will fear his glory. He will come like a rushing stream. The wind of the LORD pushes him."

As I drove home that verse kept repeating in my soul and by the time I got home, I wasn't worried about H1N1 or swine flu as I am going to keep calling it. I call it that just because The One prefers not to.
While I was in Ft. Smith, I decided to get something a little more appropriate for the Memorial Service Saturday for William Craig Comstock and enlisted the aid of a clerk who is very savvy. As I was checking out my purchase she brought up the weather, then the fear of pandemic flu threat, the horrible things going on in D.C. and looking me square in the eyes, she said "What in the world is going on?". You could feel the fear she was in and the look in her eyes said it was real and hinging on panic. I don't think I have ever seen a total stranger demonstrate that degree of fear before in my entire life. Yes, there have been terrible things that happened in the past but this was just a conversation out of the blue. No real foundation work or praying, or any such thing prompted it. I said, as quietly as I could, "Jesus is coming back for all of the Born Again Believers and this is just the opening curtain to the whole thing." Oh, how I wish Child of the King, Nate, LW, Marge, JIB, any and all of you had been there instead of me. I needed backup or something but it was 1 on 1 and the time was now. No time to dig out a bible or sing a song, or call the preacher. I could have used a good dose of Davey and his humor but oh, the opportunity was not going to last forever. So, I said what was on my heart and didn't give a flip what her religious background was or what church she attended or didn't attend. The truth was, prophecy is being fulfilled and the time that was told about in Daniel, Revelation, Thessalonians, Matthew, Isaiah and all of the old testament prophets told us about, it is coming to pass. I told her that unless her name was written in the Lambs Book of Life, the worst was yet to come. By the time I got to that statement she was nodding her head yes and all of a sudden, she said "I thought so but I couldn't put my finger on the whole thing." She told me she was terrified most of the time and it began last summer during the primaries and election campaigning. I told her that God promised all of us that he would be there for us and all that called on the name of the Lord would be saved. She wanted to know if I thought he was coming this year and I said, I don't know but I do know that Jesus Christ is the Lamb that was slain from the foundations of the earth and he is the Son of God besides being the Son of Man. That his sacrifice on the cross and His shed blood was the price that was paid for all of mankind's redemption. That Jesus told us he was the only way to the Heavenly Father. That God doesn't give us a spirit of fear but of power and love and a strong mind.

Well, I left the store and all the way home I could have kicked myself a hundred times for not asking her right then and there if she knew Jesus as her personal savior. Why didn't I? I plan on going back Saturday and finishing the conversation. My daughter will be with me and where two or more are gathered in his name, there he will be also.

So, the world is watching, waiting and wanting to be told the old time gospel story like it has never been told before. Not that the story has changed but the times and the seasons have. Mens hearts will fail them because of fear but we can enter into the realm of the Holy Spirit to bring them Jesus Christ. The ANOINTING IS READY AND WAITING FOR ALL OF US TO BRING IT TO THEM. Yes, I am shouting because I am afraid the Body of Christ is asleep and someone has to wake them up. Are you awake? Good; now lets get to work and rob the domain of hell. Shrinking won't come by wishful thinking.

Lisa, you're welcome! Fixing problems like that are simple. Tedious, but simple.

I kept Word Wrap on, and copied the message into Notepad, then I went to the bottom of the message and started moving up line by line. I'd press the END key, and if there is a space at the end of the line, then the line is OK. If the cursor is right next to the last letter in the line, then I press the Space bar and the DEL key. Move up a line and do it again. Like I said, simple but tedious.

My heart aches to share the Lord boldly with everyone in my life. I chicken out alot. However, I know when I know that it is the Lord orchestrating the event. You are just driven to speak to the person. I never feel like I say it perfectly and always feel like there could have been something more said.

Jen, that is exactly what I have been thinking too. I spend too much time on the computer and doing other things that do not have eternal value. It is time to do only what matters. I ALWAYS read on here but do not step into fellowship. I need you guys. You just do not know how much I value each and every one of you even though I do not say much.

Alesia, Jim G was being mean to you?? NO way. What a lovely story of your beginning. I always wondered too.

Much love

Grace

Grace; I do believe Alesia was referring to Mr Carroll - in a humorous fashion - who is a fellow gentleman. Although I've often suspected that his associations lie far and wide beyond this blog.

Anne,

In that Homeward Bound article today: "Throughout history the pattern leading up to persecution has been evident. First you marginalize, then you criminalize, then you are free to persecute to your heart’s content."

He's sure got a point w/the new "Hate Crime" bill going through. The true gospel will then be "criminalized" w/anyone who they wish to silence who preaches it.

This is just my personal observation & I'm not sure how accurate it is but from what I can tell-the Missionaries/Pastors who are burdened & specialized w/countries & areas in "persecution" zones-typically do not hold a Pre-Trib view.

There are a handful I know about who are thick in the midst of this type of calling who I like & feel speak from a Spirit led standpoint. They are definitely the type who stands for truth no matter the consequence for doing so.

They are still one of the few voices crying out in the wilderness. It was the Persecuted & Faithful Church in Revelation that was not reprimanded by Jesus.

I don't believe anyone here has a laissez fair attitude of "why bother when we won't be here anyway" but in the general state of the Pre-Trib church it may actually be a relevant issue. If you have such high numbers in the Church believing that Jesus is not the only way of Salvation-then I would say that attitude is most likely prevalent.

Unfortunately because of the Laodeciaen age in which we live-all Pre-Tribs become generalized w/the laissez faire attitude of the masses by those who hold other views.

The best part of these Christians who are familiar w/persecution is that there is much to glean from their personal experience in this area. They really seem to know how to seek the Lord & live in the Spirit w/miracles following.

"By their fruits you will know them" & they have the fruits to show for it. (:

With all the talk around here & being so close to Mexico- I'm in constant contact w/the topic.

Oh well, I'll just keep my spiritual eyes open for witnessing opportunities.

BRINGING IN THE SHEAVES

Sowing in the morning, sowing seeds of kindness,
Sowing in the noontide and the dewy eve;
Waiting for the harvest, and the time of reaping,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.
Refrain:
Bringing in the sheaves, bringing in the sheaves,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves;
Bringing in the sheaves, bringing in the sheaves,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.
Sowing in the sunshine, sowing in the shadows,
Fearing neither clouds nor winter’s chilling breeze;
By and by the harvest, and the labor ended,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.
Going forth with weeping, sowing for the Master,
Though the loss sustained our spirit often grieves;
When our weeping’s over, He will bid us welcome,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.

Well, I'm confused. It says my last comment was saved, but it's not showing up. So, sorry if I double post.

Your song, Jen, is the one Jim G's little boy was singing, "Bringing in the Cheese". I lol about that and it reminded me of a story that Dick Van Dyke told long ago. A little boy told his Sunday School teacher he wanted to sing the laundry song, you know, the one that goes "bringing in the sheets, bringing in the sheets..."

Great Grany 5 said...

I love that song too! Brings back a lot of great memories of loved ones who have gone on and are waiting for us to get with it!

Anne, I liked the Laundry rendition too.

I am going to get ready to go be with my cousins and all of the family this evening, so I will not be commenting any until probably Sunday. But I thought you all might like to read this NO SWINE IN ISRAEL and that should be enough to keep you shouting for a while or at least until I get back to ya.

I have a distinct feeling that the protection over Israel is just now getting into full power and the rest of the story is in God's Hands. No Weapons Formed Against You shall prosper Israel and God is putting his foot down. First gently and then in resounding thunder.

Shalom and Hallelujah!

Iran canceled air show upon Russian warning of Israeli plan to destroy all 140 warplanes

April: DEBKAfile's Iranian and intelligence sources disclose that Moscow warned Tehran Friday April 17 that Israel was planning to destroy all of its 140 fighter-bombers concentrated at the Mehr-Abad Air Force base for an air show over Tehran on Iran's Army Day the following day. The entire fleet was accordingly removed to remote bases and the display cancelled.

In the first week of April, Tehran announced it would stage its biggest air show ever to dramatize a ceremonial military parade in the capital on April 18. Iran would show the world that it is capable of fighting off an Israeli attack on its nuclear facilities. Instead, only four aircraft flew over the saluting stand. Iranian media explained that the big show was cancelled due to "bad weather and poor visibility," when in fact Tehran basked in warm and sunny weather.

Moscow had informed the Iranians that its spy satellites and intelligence sources had picked up preparations at Israeli Air Force bases to destroy the 140 warplanes, the bulk of the Iranian air force, on the ground the night before the display, leaving its nuclear sites without aerial defense. A similar operation wiped out the entire Egyptian air fleet in the early hours of the 1967 war.

Unknown vessel destroys another Iranian arms ship bound for Gaza.

26 April: An Iranian ship transporting arms to the Gaza Strip was destroyed off the Sudanese coast in the Red Sea last week, the Egyptian newspaper Al-Usbu (The Week) reported on Sunday. An unidentified warship launched missiles at the ship, sinking it with its crew and cargo. Quoting anonymous sources, the newspaper suspected Israeli or American forces were responsible for the attack.

The same sources said the ship was on course to dock in Sudan, where the weapons would be unloaded and eventually shipped to Gaza through Egypt.

Neither Iran, Israel, or the United States has commented.

(I wonder why no comment if it really occured?)

One Sunday morning an Old Cowboy entered a Church just before services were to begin. Although the Old Man and his clothes were spotlessly clean, he wore jeans, a denim shirt and boots that were very worn and ragged. In his hand he carried a worn out old hat and an equally worn out Bible.

The Church he entered was in a very upscale and exclusive
part of the city. It was the largest and most beautiful
Church the Old Cowboy had ever seen. The people of the
congregation were all dressed with expensive clothes and accessories.

As the Cowboy took a seat, the others moved away from him.
No one greeted, spoke to, or welcomed him. They were all
appalled at his appearance and did not attempt to hide it.

As the Old Cowboy was leaving the church, the Preacher approached him and asked the Cowboy to do him a favor. 'Before you come back in here again, have a talk with
God and ask him what he thinks would be appropriate attire
for worship.'

The Old Cowboy assured the Preacher he would. The next
Sunday, he showed back up for the services wearing the same
ragged jeans, shirt, boots, and hat. Once again he was
completely shunned and ignored.

The Preacher approached the man and said, 'I thought I asked you to speak to God before you came back to our Church.’

'I did,' replied the Old Cowboy.

'If you spoke to God, what did he tell you the proper attire should be for worshiping in here?' asked the Preacher.

'Well, Sir, God told me that He didn't have a clue what I should wear. He said He'd never been in this Church before.'

I love celebrating with the Jewish people! I have learned so much from them! Read Ezekiel 37:15. It talks about Ephraim and Judah being two seperate sticks and G-d making them one in His hand. At some point, the Jewish people will see Messiah, and G-d will bring us together! (Ephraim was the Gentile son of Joseph)Here is a song I love to listen to. It is in Hebrew, but the English words are written on the video. It is so beautiful!click here I am at our church ladies retreat in Pigeon Forge Tennessee. I have tried to catch up as much as possible. We have been praying intensely about everything that is going on. G-d spoke to me tonight and said, "The storms will be great, the clouds will be black, the time is soon when great darkness is coming upon the earth, but there is no cloud that is so dark or so great it can cover My face from my children! I will carry your burdens and I will heal your sickness' if you will just trust in Me!" I was reminded in the Spirit that when the night is the darkest, a light is the brightest. No matter how dark it gets, G-d will always shine through!

Leaning On The Lord

The biggest thing to remember when going through trials and afflictions is to stay focussed on the Lord, and continually renew our minds with His precious promises. Doubt and discouragement come when we forget His perspective and we start looking at our situations through the eyes of fear, not faith.

A) Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength: Isaiah 26:3-4

"Stayed" in verse 3 means "to prop (literally or figuratively); reflexively, to lean upon or take hold of". It is a choice to lean on the Lord and stay focussed on Him. Take hold of Jesus and trust Him with your struggles, for it is in Him that you will find the strength you need, and the perfect peace that only comes through prayer.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

"Careful" means "anxious or worried." The word "keep" in verse 7 means "to mount guard as a sentinel; to hem in, protect." If you consider that Satan's greatest attacks are against our minds, then the promise of God's perfect (complete) peace protecting and guarding our hearts and minds is a powerful promise indeed. The solution to discouragement, fretting, and worrying, is to give them all to the Lord in prayer, trusting in Him to answer them according to His perfect will.

B) Another passage that uses the same word in Hebrew (and same definition) as the word "stayed" above is: The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in His way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with His hand. Psalm 37:23-24

The word "upholdeth" in verse 24 has the same meaning. If you let the Lord order and arrange your life, then even if you stumble or fall, the Lord will uphold you. You can trust the Lord with the good and bad in your life because, if you are His child, He is working all things together for your good. Because the Lord is working everything for your good, you can rejoice and be thankful for everything, even the trials in your life. (See Romans 8:28 and 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

C) When I said, My foot slippeth; Thy mercy, O LORD, held me up. Psalm 94:18

The word "held" here means "support." The Lord's mercy is able to hold you up, to support you.

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:15-16

The word "help" in verse 16 means literally to "run to the cry". Jesus has gone through the same types of trials and temptations that we all face, and therefore can sympathize with everything we could ever go through. If we will just cry out to Him in our time of need, He will run to our aid and provide the mercy and grace we need to persevere under this trial.

D) They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay. Psalm 18:18

The word for "stay" here means "a support; a protector or sustenance." The Lord is our protector, our sustenance, and our support in times of calamity. Wait on Jesus to provide the strength you need to go through this calamity.

Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might He increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:28-31

"Mount up" means "to rise, to ascend." If you wait on the Lord in prayer, He will give you the strength to rise above your problems, and to soar in the heavenly places with Him.

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Colossians 3:1-2

E) Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and He shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Psalm 55:22

"Cast" means "to throw out, down or away". Quit holding on to your burdens and trying to control the circumstances that are in your life. Instead, throw your burdens on the Lord Jesus because He loves you and knows what's best for you, even if you can't understand the reasons He allows certain trials into your life.

Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you. 1 Peter 5:7

Throw your worries on the Lord and let Him deal with them. When doubts and fears knock on the door of your heart, send Jesus to answer them!

F) Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of My righteousness. Isaiah 41:10

The word here for "uphold" means to "sustain." Trust in the Lord, wait on Him in prayer, and He promises to give you the strength you need to sustain you and uphold you.

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. Psalm 27:14

G) Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of His servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God. Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of Mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow. Isaiah 50:10-11

The word "stay" in verse 10 means "to support one's self; lean, rely on, rest on." If you want perfect peace even in the midst of trials - when your way is dark and you can't understand why the Lord is allowing certain afflictions in your life – don’t make your own way. Instead, look to the Lord and His Word. Then trust in Him and lean on Him. The verse says "trust in the name of the Lord." In the Bible, a name is who a person is, what they represent. In the King James Bible, every time all the letters in the word LORD are capitalized, it means "Jehovah" - "I Am" - the eternal, self-existent God. (Exodus 3:14-15) The name of the LORD is I Am. Let Jesus be your everything. Let Him be your peace, your strength, your refuge, shield, and your fortress. Let Him be your LORD!

When you are struggling, meditate on the nine compound names (there may also be others) of Jehovah in the Old Testament and Jesus' seven I Am statements in the Gospel of John, and marvel at how the LORD meets every need you could possibly ever face.

The nine compound names and their translations into English are as follows:
1) Jehovah-Jireh, The LORD my Provider. (Genesis 22:8, 13-14)
2) Jehovah-Rapha, The LORD my Healer. (Exodus 15:26)
3) Jehovah-Nissi, The LORD is my Banner. (Exodus 17:15)
4) Jehovah-Qadash, The LORD thy Sanctifier. (Exodus 31:13)
5) Jehovah-Shalom, The LORD our Peace. (Judges 6:23-24)
6) Jehovah-Raah, The LORD my Shepherd. (Psalm 23:1)
7) Jehovah-Sabaoth, The LORD of Hosts. (Isaiah 6:3)
8) Jehovah-Tsidkenu, The LORD our Righteousness. (Jeremiah 23:6)
9) Jehovah-Shammah, The LORD Is There (ie. Present). (Ezekiel 48:35)

The name "Jesus" means "the LORD our Salvation," a further revelation of the magnitude of the LORD. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins. Matthew 1:21

Jesus’ seven I Am statements are:
1) I Am the Bread of Life. (John 6:35, 48, 51)
2) I Am the Light of the World. (John 8:12)
3) I Am the Door of the Sheep. (John 10:7, 9)
4) I Am the Good Shepherd. (John 10:11-14)
5) I Am the Resurrection and the Life. (John 11:25)
6) I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. (John 14:6)
7) I Am the True Vine. (John 15:1, 5)

By the way, the number seven in the Bible represents perfection, fullness, completion. Just thought you should know Jesus is all you need!

Keep Leaning On The Lord!

Well HI Joyce!
Actually it is funny you ask about mom. I called her late Wed night to tell her about her new GREAT grandbaby (1st great grandchild) and she was thrilled. Then early in the morning (4 am) she was doing her bible study before work and when she was getting up to go, she tripped over the footstool to her chair. Fell HARD and broke her shoulder! Talk about going from a total HIGH to a total LOW! She has to have surgery on Monday to putplates and screws in. The arm bone at the very top where it attaches to the ball joint thingy (sorry, I'm sure YOU are laughing at my awesome medical terms...hehe)is completely broken across and moved away from eachother and the ball has cracks in it. If she was 80 or so they would just let it heal but she is 66 tomorrow so she needs to be able to use it so better chance for that with surgery. So, if you all wouldn't mind adding Maxine to your prayer lists, that would be awesome!!
She has hd MANY new poems and her latest (over at my blog) is one that she wrote for Atheists. Many other new ones as well.
How's your little sonshine?! I bet he is growing like a weed and still making the church giggle with his wonder personality! Hope your footsies aren't giving you anymore grief too!
Take care and GOD bless, JIB!

Shalom, all! I had sent my brother the doctor some information I had recv'd from Prophezine on the H1N1 virus. The information talked about psychiatric problems associated with Tamiflu, as well as recommending a nutritional supplement N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC). According to my brother, the articles about the psychiatric side-effects from Tamiflu are incorrect. The effect was noticed and the warning applied to the label back in 2006; however, as he put it, "The tamiflu/psych thing never did pan out." The effect (which was first reported in Japan) could have been due to one of three things: Japan had an outbreak of viral meningitis earlier in the decade, and relied on Tamiflu -- which is an anti-viral drug -- to fight against this disease. Since meningitis strikes the brain tissue, the psych effects could have been a side effect of the disease, not of the Tamiflu. It may have been some unusual interaction between Tamiflu and the Japanese diet (C'mon -- you don't REALLY think that tofu is good for you?), or there could be something in Japanese genetic makeup that makes them more susceptible to adverse psych reactions than other groups. This would be unusual but not unheard of. The long and short of it is that you shouldn't have to worry about Tamiflu making you crazy.

As for N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC), to quote my brother, "NAC is used to treat tylenol overdose, to salvage the liver, and it tastes like rotten eggs. Seriously --- never once seen anything substantial about its effect on Influenza. "Knowing him, since he didn't say anything about the rate of infection that part is probably accurate. One thing to point out: there has been only one confirmed death in America due to H1N1 virus. That was of a 23-month-old Mexican infant that caught the disease in Mexico and was brought to America for treatment. Preliminary studies involving families of infected people indicate that you need to be within three feet of the person to have a reasonable chance of catching the disease from him/her. In other words, in aerosol form (spray from sneezing, coughing, etc.) it doesn't last very long in the open.

Again, according to my brother, the Prophezine article was wrong in one other major detail: The "infectious two days before clinically ill" isn't correct. You can get sick in 48 hours from exposure, but you don't start spewing virus until you develop the coryza (runny nose, cough) which happens in most cases within an hour of starting to feel ill with headache, fever, etc. (emphasis added) So it's important not to "man it out": when you start to feel ill, accept that you're ill and go home before you become infectious.

I also made some predictions to my brother re: the spread of the infection. New Braunfels is on I-35, 20 miles north of San Antonio and 40 miles south of Austin. If you didn't know, I-35 is a heavily traveled interstate that starts at Mexico and ends at Duluth, MN, where it turns into US61 and goes into Canada at Thunder Bay. If this stuff is truly this bad in New Braunfels, we can expect it to travel up I-35. As soon as it hits Kansas City, it will also start making its way up I-29. Anyone want to place any bets on when it hits KC?

Thanks, Jim, I'll keep that info along with the article and Jib's advice, too.

Kathy Overcomer, where are you? Still poking in now and then? I'm always so happy to see someone's name who hasn't posted in awhile, like Judy.
