Hi everyone!

What a day this has been but everything was done according to purpose. William Craig Comstock was laid to rest in the U. S. National Cemetary in Ft. Smith, Arkansas with full military honors. When we got up this morning it was already raining and the clouds hung over everything like great pewter curtains. There wasn't much lightening or thunder just heavy rain. It rained the whole trip to the Cemetery and all the way through it. The funeral was supposed to have been a complete military funeral with caisson, foot procession and all from Van Buren, Arkansas to the cemetery but the rains prevented it. That is probably 10 miles from VB to the National Cemetery.

Even in all of that rain there were clusters of people gathered around the Arbor for the pre-burial services. In all of that rain, the Marine honor guard and all of the other Military personnel stood at attention with the rain pouring down on them.

We have a lot to be proud of with our military men and women. They are so very young and my heart just goes out to them greatly.

Craig was saved in his early teen years and his minister served as the final voice in services today. How sad but also, how fitting a tribute to a fine youngman who didn't have all of the fancy "toys" most kids had, and yet he had a heart as big as the heavens to which he is now assigned.

Thank you for all of your prayers and good soil was there for the planting.

I've always heard that, when G-ds children die, it rains. It is said that it is the angels weeping for them. Myself, I think they are rejoicing that another of G-ds children have made it home! It is a very hard thing to go through. I know everyone is very proud of him and the life he has lived!

Judy, Judy, Judy! Does that remind you of earlier days Miss Judy? I have greatly missed your precious comments and fellowship. You have no idea what it has meant in the past.

Judy, I am praying for your momma's surgery and healing to be accomplished to the Glory of Abba. Give her my love and keep some of it for you and yours. I think it is great your new official title of Grandest Granny in the world. Now if you get tired of spoiling her, give me a shout and I will see if I can't help you out a little.

I sincerely thank all of you for your prayers and encouragement. I really didn't think I would take this tragedy so hard but it has really worked a flood of pent up tears and brokenness in me. His daddy is trying to be so brave about it all and that adds to the hurt. His grandfather is my first cousin, our mothers were sisters, and he is the only one left besides me of our big family. There are the kids of the cousins but it isn't the same thing. Grandfather's name is William also but we call him Bill. He is a veteran of WW2 and served in the Pacific in the Navy. They raised Craig until he was almost 12 years old. Very, very heart broken grandparents.

My prayers are very simple for all of them: Salvation but an intense love and dedication to Jesus Christ and His love for Abba.

Another note to this drama came today when we were unable to go back to the shopping center and see the clerk that assisted me in my purchases the other day. The rains were just horrible and the Arkansas River flows to the West side of Ft. Smith between Arkansas and Oklahoma. Our route going home. The next 24 hours will determine if they can release enough water on the navigation system's locks and dams to keep the river below flood stage.
As soon as I read your comments on the previous posting, I knew it was no accident that we couldn't delay getting back home. I believe Abba has it all under control and the heart that hears will receive the seed.

Love you all and I am going to bed, long day!

Grany,
I am at a loss for words. May the Lord bring great comfort to Craig's family in the days ahead. Thank you for sharing this.

The day my grandmother was buried was bright and sunny and warm (although it was not yet spring). I was told later in the day that whenever our large family would gather together for our picnics my grandma would ask the Lord for a nice, sunny day. I found much purpose in that sunny day.

This makes sense to me & why studying Jewish idioms will reveal more understanding:

Q. The Bible seems to say that the anti-Christ will be asexual. Since Mr. Obama is happily married with two daughters why wouldn’t this exclude him?

A. This question refers to Daniel 11:37 which in the KJV reads;

Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.

According to tradition, the phrase “desire of women” refers to the Messiah, not to the anti-Christ’s sexual orientation. From the time of Eve it was every Jewish woman’s desire to be the mother of the Messiah, so one of the informal names of the Messiah was “the desire of women”. This whole idea stems from the phrase “seed of the woman”, a reference to the promised redeemer from Genesis 3:15. The idea that the anti-Christ will be asexual can not be supported from Scripture.

**Why it makes sense is that 1st it's speaking of "God" (the father)-then goes on to the phrase "the desire of women" (which has always puzzled me-out of the blue statement) 3rd -"nor regard any god". Why? Because he will magnify himself above all that is god.

Daaaa! (my light bulb just went off-blink,blink,blink.) All three things are referring to worshipping a higher source & that's why thinking "the desire of women" in regards to a sexual nature doesn't make any sense. It's speaking of the Messiah-Jesus.

Hey Lisa,
I love idioms, too, although they are VERY hard to teach to second-language learners. Usually there is an interesting story behind the development of the idiom, which once understood, makes the idiom also understandable.
When I used to study Spanish, I would read a bilingual Bible so I could compare phrases/vocab as I read. During one reading, I came across my favorite Spanish idiom to date..."to give birth." In Spanish, it's "dar la luz" or "to give light." Once I realized what I was reading, it made perfect sense....a mother literally gives light to the baby for the first time at birth. The coolest part of it was that I was reading the account of Jesus being born and the double meaning wasn't lost on me....Mary gave Jesus his first earthly light, but at the same time, she also gave The Light to the world. "Maria da la luz..."

Late Night Lisa said...

That is a beautiful idiom! The first thing Lorraine did when she was born & "received light" was to poop on the doctor. She came out screaming! I don't blame her though. She was sunny side up & trying to get out for 23 hours.

While that certainly is true in the broader context of jewish culture to be barren or childless was a reproach-look at Sarah, Rachel and Hannah and how they suffered at the hands of others and were taunted because of their barreness. The desire of Hannah's heart was to have children as it was for the others. Now was that specifically because each woman wanted to be the mother of Messiah more than likely that is the root of it. i think we don't realize in our culture just how important children were and are in the ME cultures. I think you could easily broadened being against the desire of women to include someone who either believed in population control such as china's one child policy or even extremely pro abortion. Interestingly enough as part of the fringe of the green movement there is a part of the movement to encourage people to remain childless or even have just one child to minimize the impact on mother earth.

jib said...

i should have finished my thought. Yes the desire to bear the Messiah might have been part of it but I think it was just the desire to have children period because that did accord them status and i get the impression from some scriptures that culturally if a woman was unable to bear children it meant she was more sinful than others. that may just be reading in between the lines.

(D.H. forwarded this to me today-it's probably going around but it does have some things to consider.)

AN ABSOLUTE MUST READ FOR EVERY AMERICAN!

Juval Aviv was the Israeli Agent upon whom the movie 'Munich' was based. He was Golda Meir's bodyguard -- she appointed him to track down and bring to justice the Palestinian terrorists who took the Israeli athletes hostage and killed them during the Munich Olympic Games.

In a lecture in New York City a few weeks ago, he shared information that EVERY American needs to know -- but that our government has not yet shared with us.

He predicted the London subway bombing on the Bill O'Reilly show on Fox News stating publicly that it would happen within a week. At the time, O'Reilly laughed and mocked him saying that in a week he wanted him back on the show. But, unfortunately, within a week the terrorist attack had occurred.

Juval Aviv gave intelligence (via what he had gathered in Israel and theMiddle East) to the Bush Administration about 9/11 a month before it occurred. His report specifically said they would use planes as bombs and target high profile buildings and monuments. Congress has since hired him as a security consultant.

Now for his future predictions. He predicts the next terrorist attack on the U.S.will occur within the next few months.

Forget hijacking airplanes, because he says terrorists will NEVER try and hijack a plane again as they know the people onboard will never go down quietly again. Aviv believes our airport security is a joke -- that we have been reactionary rather than proactive in developing strategies that are truly effective.

For example:

1) Our airport technology is outdated. We look for metal, and the new explosives are made of plastic.

2) He talked about how some idiot tried to light his shoe on fire. Because of that, now everyone has to take off their shoes. A group of idiots tried to bring aboard liquid explosives. Now we can't bring liquids on board. He says he's waiting for some suicidal maniac to pour liquid explosive on his underwear; at which point, security will have us all traveling naked! Every strategy we have is reactionary.

3) We only focus on security when people are heading to the gates.

Aviv says that if a terrorist attack targets airports in the future, they will target busy times on the front end of the airport when/where people are checking in. It would be easy for someone to take two suitcases of explosives, walk up to a busy check-in line, ask a person next to them to watch their bags for a minute while they run to the restroom or get a drink, and then detonate the bags BEFORE security even gets involved. In Israel, security checks bags BEFORE people can even ENTER the airport.
Aviv says the next terrorist attack here in America is imminent and will involve suicide bombers and non-suicide bombers in places where large groups of people congregate. (i. e., Disneyland, Las Vegas casinos, big cities (New York, San Francisco, Chicago, etc.)) and that it will also include shopping malls, subways in rush hour, train stations, etc., as well as rural America this time (Wyoming, Montana, etc.).

The attack will be characterized by simultaneous detonations around the country (terrorists like big impact), involving at least 5-8 cities, including rural areas.

Aviv says terrorists won't need to use suicide bombers in many of the larger cities, because at places like the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, they can simply valet park a car loaded with explosives and walk away.
Aviv says all of the above is well known in intelligence circles, but that our U. S.government does not want to 'alarm American citizens' with the facts. The world is quickly going to become 'a different place', and issues like 'global warming' and political correctness will become totally irrelevant.

On an encouraging note, he says that Americans don't have to be concerned about being nuked. Aviv says the terrorists who want to destroyAmerica will not use sophisticated weapons. They like to use suicide as a front-line approach. It's cheap, it's easy, it's effective; and they have an infinite abundance of young militants more than willing to 'meet their destiny'.

He also says the next level of terrorists, over which America should be most concerned, will not be coming from abroad. But will be, instead, 'homegrown' -- having attended and been educated in our own schools and universities right here in the U. S. He says to look for 'students' who frequently travel back and forth to the Middle East. These young terrorists will be most dangerous because they will know our language and will fully understand the habits of Americans; but that we Americans won't know/understand a thing about them.

Aviv says that, as a people, Americans are unaware and uneducated about the terrorist threats we will inevitably face. America still has only a handful of Arabic and Farsi speaking people in our intelligence networks, and Aviv says it is critical that we change that fact SOON.
So, what can America do to protect itself? From an intelligence perspective, Aviv says the U.S.needs to stop relying on satellites and technology for intelligence. We need to, instead, follow Israel's, Ireland's and England's hands-on examples of human intelligence, both from an infiltration perspective as well as to trust 'aware' citizens to help. We need to engage and educate ourselves as citizens; however, our U. S. government continues to treat us, its citizens, 'like babies'. Our government thinks we 'can't handle the truth' and are concerned that we'll panic if we understand the realities of terrorism. Aviv says this is a deadly mistake.

Aviv recently created/executed a security test for our Congress, by placing an empty briefcase in five well-traveled spots in f ive major cities. The results? Not one person called 911 or sought a policeman to check it out. In fact, in Chicago, someone tried to steal the briefcase!
In comparison, Aviv says that citizens of Israel are so well 'trained' that an unattended bag or package would be reported in seconds by citizen(s) who know to publicly shout, 'Unattended Bag!' The area would be quickly & calmly cleared by the citizens themselves. But, unfortunately, America hasn't been yet 'hurt enough' by terrorism for their government to fully understand the need to educate its citizens or for the government to understand that it's their citizens who are, inevitably, the best first-line of defense against terrorism.

Aviv also was concerned about the high number of children here in America who were in preschool and kindergarten after 9/11, who were 'lost' without parents being able to pick them up, and about our schools that had no plan in place to best care for the students until parents could get there. (In New York City, this was days in some cases!)

He stresses the importance of having a plan, that's agreed upon within your family, to respond to in the event of a terrorist emergency. He urges parents to contact their children's schools and demand that the schools, too, develop plans of actions, as they do in Israel.

Does your family know what to do if you can't contact one another by phone? Where would you gather in an emergency? He says we should all have a plan that is easy enough for even our youngest children to remember and follow.

Aviv says that the U. S. government has in force a plan that, in the event of another terrorist attack, will immediately cut-off EVERYONE's ability to use cell phones, blackberries, etc., as this is the preferred communication source used by terrorists and is often the way that their bombs are detonated..

How will you communicate with your loved ones in the event you cannot speak? You need to have a plan.

Good Morning All,

I thought i would just pass on my thoughts since I am in New Braunfels.
The information Ray posted in his email came from the CDC in a meeting that was held in New Braunfels with Doctors and many others.
The schools here are still closed and many in the surrounding areas will be closed thru May 11.
I have information from my insurance company on how to handle employees you think or who have the flu. There was also information posted on the county website for a daily employee check in-- on their health ( thats kinda nutz) now we are getting many different reports. It is not serious but if they suspect someone of having it they close the school, another school closed in Austin today. So I dont get it. They had everyone in such a panic the antibaterial cleaners all flew (no pun intended) off the shelfs at the stores. But I have not seen anyone sick and I am at a sports complex where the kids come to play.
Vaccine it seems this is all a replay of the 70 's, and Drudge had a flash back head line about the swine flu being combined with the bird flu so we could be ready for an out break from 2004.
They have had so many people go to the hospitals they are or have set up outside areas or asked people not to come to call, one doctor on tv said he received thousands of calls and he does not know what to tell people.
But after i heard the new HHS talk about this on Sunday and she said this is why we need health care, i pretty much at that point decided someone would need to really convince me that this is not all created some how some way to push forward an agenda for something.
Anyway, all is well and it has not stopped many people from their normal activities.

Blessing to you

Sheila, Shalom! I don't think this virus is a created thing; I think it's just the Obama administration's way to "never let a good crisis go to waste." Rather like the actress de jour using her time on the carpet to push her latest charity.

As for remembering passwords, there are two possibilities. One is using Firefox, which lets you store passwords in its own registry so you never have to enter a password again. Not something I encourage, because then it means anyone who can access your PC can access your password-protected sites. The other possibility is a password manager. I use "Password Safe". It's open-source product that I've found very easy to use. You only have to remember one password -- that's the one to get into Password Safe -- and then you can organize your passwords, web sites, etc. however you need to. It comes with a random password generator so you can get secure passwords, and you're not forced to use the same two or three passwords for every web site just so you can remember them. Just click on the link to get to the download site.

Personally, I think someone is just trying to mess up the economy worse than it already is. This flu epidemic is nothing compared with the 36,000 that died from the flu in 2006.

Think about it. Close the schools. Parents need to stay home. Businesses cannot be effective with employees. This stresses already fragile economic systems.

It also makes those who succumb to fear, pressure gov't to take control of healthcare.

Hi Shelia, long time. Don't post much here but still "try" to keep up with the post as time permits.

Most I’ve talked with here in San Antonio, think the Swine Flu "epidemic" has been way over-blown. While there have been 9 cases in the county just to the east of San Antonio, things are pretty much as usual. The biggest problem we’ve had is employees not being able to come to work because there school aged children are out of school (they announced that they’d be closed this week as well). I can’t really blame the schools though as they are following the advice of the health department, who theoretically is getting there advise from the CDC. We’ve had no cancelations of events here in San Antonio, and all but two school districts that I know of are open. Our company does have two centers in Mexico with one in Mexico City and one in Monterrey and we were forced to close those centers this past Friday and are being allowed to reopen on Wednesday. Of course that means the none of our 400 employees there will make the money they expected to make this week either.

Maranatha soon I pray..

Mike

Dear Lori,
Thank you very much for sending me Lisa's comments. I would have written her directly but I obviously do not have her e-mail address. Can you please send her my response.
Lisa, thank you so very much for your kind comments. It excited me to know that you are enjoying those articles. At this point I am trying to put on a new article about every three days, but I am only doing so as long as I feel our Lord gives me the words to write. Thus far, however, He has been more than faithful in doing that.
Concerning your not having a password, you should not need one. All you should have to do is click at the bottom where it says "no comments," or "one comment." etc. You should then be able to write any comment you want. No password is required.
As to the article "Surprised by Jesus" by David Servant, thank you for sharing that with me. It was interesting. I do see in that article, though, that Mr. Servant, like so many of us, seems to forget that although Jesus was fully God, He was also fully human. That may have been the true revelation the Lord was impressing me with that week that I wrote "Two Mysteries Solved." That truth unfortunately negates so much of what Mr. Servant was trying to say. And it explains to me what I tried to cover in that brief article. Quite frankly, had I not felt so certain that God had truly revealed to me what I then wrote in the article, I might tend to agree more with Mr. Servant. But it was one of those times that is an unforgettable "God moment." It still is, and of that I remain unwaveringly convinced.
I will tell you that as much as the writing of Unlocking God's Secrets was a truly supernatural experience for me, and I believe my part in it was minimal to say the least, many of the blog articles have been the same. When I find that those articles stop being from God, that is the day I want my keyboard to become idle.
In Christ's eternal love, Bob

JIM C. you might find THIS very interesting, my friend. In fact, I think Mac and Mr. Hyde would too. I know I found it greatly mind provoking.

SHEILA, great seeing you here. I am more convinced than ever that the saying "let no crises be wasted" is being thoroughly used by all of the right people in Government. Big brother is truly looking for every excuse in the book right now. Terrorist in the White House! Well, really!

But in all seriousness, this is the prime time of spring colds and flu for our part of the country and this year it is unseasonably cold and damp. Rain again today and the temps are below 80. Normally we have our first crop of tomatoes coming on real fast but this year, they are rotting on the vines of my neighbors.

You all take care and have you checked your oil lamps lately?

I really can't remember what the weather is/was like in Oklahoma this time of year -- I went back and forth a lot last year when my mom was ill and I never noticed until the day I was headed home that I knew would be the last time with my mom. I was given the most wonderful SON rise I have ever seen.

My mom... the whole thing is an amazing story to me she told my cousin Steve a pastor she had seen heaven and she was going home and she did in July of last year. But the events that lead up to her going home were amazing and blessing every step of the way.

Lori,

Sorry-One more time. I tried to post as Bob mentioned but I get "you have to be logged on"- (and to log on-I need my password.)

There is a quote on that "Lookup Fellowship" article Grany posted:

"I want to include them as part of this discussion only because it serves as the PERFECT INTRODUCTION. Plus, it may have a connection. Then again, it may be nothing but the product of an over-active imagination."

That is my own view of how I see the leadings Holy Spirit on a personal level. When I look back I can see some situations I have no doubt of & others I'm still scratching my head waiting for an answer.

So that being the case as I was mulling over Bob's response reading the Lookup Fellowship article I got a strong impression-or words "Ask him to confirm it."

So what could that hurt-right? Either I'm nuts or the Holy Spirit put it in my mind.

Just in case it's the H.S. I thought I better mention it.

Blessings, Lisa

Grany, funnily enough I’ve had my own 11:11 experience. Back when I was steeped in the New Age I read an article about the imminent emergence of a new global conscience and it was dubbed Harmonic 11:11 (or something like that). I didn’t pay much attention to the article and was even very skeptical of it, but right after that I kept noticing the number 11. Very often I’d look at a clock and see 11:11 etc. It was quite spooky. It still occasionally happens. I think it’s just the way our minds work as Jeff suggested. I’ve noticed other examples - like when I hear a new word or name for the first time and then suddenly keep hearing it more often. I see others at JRed’s site had similar experiences.

MAC,
I agree about 11:11, 1-11 and 11 11. There just seems to be too much to be ignored. I had never thought about 7 and 3 = 10 before until that article and it rang some really well hidden bells in my memories. But just as 12 is the sum of 2 perfect numbers to God, other numbers have some very serious relationships to the Jewish people. Let me give you an example.

A bunch of us from this town and one from my favorite shopping town, all made arrangements to go together to Israel in 1994. There were 9 of us including the pastor from that town I buy my household needs in. Joining us were 3 from the Dallas, TX area, making our group 12. In that group there was 10 people serving in different offices of ministry. Only 2 were not. We ranged from pastors, teachers, prophets, evangelists, and elders/deacons but he also was a pastor. All were Anointed with the Holy Spirit but unbeknown to us, several were at a fork in the road and the number 9 would be prominent all of the trip.
We left on a flight that began and ended with the number 9, Delta Flight out of Atlanta, landed in Paris, France at 9 p.m. the first night out of the USA, caught the air bus to Israel on concourse 9, flew into Israel late that night, boarded bus #9 at the airport and that number stayed with us the whole trip. Nine was the boat number for our Sea of Galilee voyage, we were located on the 9th floor of each hotel that we stayed in except for the one in Bethany and it was the Hotel of 7 Arches.

The number 9 is judgment according to our Jewish guide but here is what I have since learned about that number.

It is the last of the digits, and thus marks the end; and is significant of the conclusion of a matter.
It is akin to the number six, six being the sum of its factors (3x3=9, and 3+3=6), and is thus significant of the end of man, and the summation of all man's works. Nine is, therefore,
THE NUMBER OF FINALITY OR JUDGMENT,
for judgment is committed unto Jesus as "the Son of man" (John 5:27; Acts 17:31). It marks the completeness, the end and issue of all things as to man—the judgment of man and all his works.

It is a factor of 666, which is 9 times 74.

The gematria of the word "Dan," which means a judge, is 54 (9x6).

"th orgh mou" (tee orgee mou), my wrath, = 999 (Hebrews 3:11).

The solemn amhn (ameen), amen, or "verily," of our Lord, amounts also to 99, summing up and ending His words.

The sum of the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet is 4995 (5x999). It is stamped, therefore, with the numbers of grace and finality.

The sum of the Greek alphabet is 3999.
So, what was the outcome from all of this "9"Business?
In that group of 12, there were 4 pastors, 3 evangelists, 1 prophet, 4 teachers, and one of the teachers was also an evangelist. Of that group of nine from my town, 3 pastors who were set to make some very serious decisions about their walk with God. One past has quit and is working full time in the secular world. Another of the pastors was the associate pastor of my church that caused a major split because of a moral issue with the Worship leader, and the 3rd one from Ft. Smith, was forced to give up his church for moral issues also. The Evangelists had a similar hard road to make decision on. One of them became involved in his old life style and fell into ruin, the remaining ones fought some courageous battles and are still serving with honor. The teachers lost one of the senior ladies and the prophet is still serving God faithfully. However, all nine from this area went through some terrible times and the result was less than encouraging in some cases.
But that number just wouldn't quit.

I keep it in mind in almost every situation where I have to make a decision and it seems to be my caution light of sorts. I have never studied numerology but there has to be something to it.

May 4th 2009 - DEEP EMOTION
Hosea 11: (Pastor Ray) Oh no-I can't believe it-there is ELEVEN again!!!

Hosea 11
aWhen Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son...It was I who taught Ephraim to walk, taking them by the arms; but they did not realize it was I who healed them. I led them with cords of human kindness, with ties of love; I lifted the yoke from their neck and bent down to feed them. ... How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, Israel? ... My heart is changed within me; all my compassion is aroused.a

Much of my upbringing in the Church taught me to ignore emotion. We are often told not to go by feelings. And yet, in this remarkable passage of Scripture, we get a glimpse into the compassionate, emotional heart of God. He allows us to see into the inner recesses of His heart, and know the deep feelings He carries for His children.

But people are a little afraid of emotion, like ita(TM)s not spiritually correct. John Calvin worried about any suggestion that God has feelings and even wrote in his commentary on Hosea, aFor it must ever be remembered, that God is exempt from every passion.a

While I respect Calvin, I disagree with him on this point. Hosea, and indeed many portions of Scripture show us a God filled with deep emotion and feelings of love. Jesus, God incarnate, lived a life full of rich emotions, He loved, He knew sorrow, He wept openly, and expressed His righteous anger. Since we are made in His image, we too have deep emotions and feelings.

aIgnoring our emotions is turning our back on reality...in neglecting our intense emotions, we are false to ourselves and lose a wonderful opportunity to know God. We forget that change comes through brutal honesty and vulnerability before God,a writes Dan Allender and Tremper Longman in aThe Cry of the Soul.a

God brought His people to place where their emotions and true feelings were exposed. Where they are forced to acknowledge their sin and their betrayal of Him, then face His unchanging, pursuing love. Once we are honest about our feelings, they can be submitted to the transforming power of the Holy Sprit, who desires for our emotions to be rooted in His love, reflecting the fruits of His spirit in healthy, healing ways.

Out of curiosity, has anyone else here read "The Stand" by Steven King? I think it is his best novel. I also think WA-A-AY too many public health politicians have also read it in the past 30 years, and I think that's what generated their reaction to the H1N1 virus.

I read 1/2 of "the Stand" when I was a teenager & it freaked me out. Something about "Children of the Corn" & how people chocked & died in their own flem. It was too disturbing-so I didn't finish it.

The other movies that freaked me out were "the Exorcist", "Aliens", & "the Omen". It's when HBO was a big deal & I would watch whatever my dad had on @ the time.

That just about did it for me as far as horror films/books were concerned. I haven't seen/read any major one's since those days.

My dad also had the vinyl record of "War of the Worlds". He would play it when I was a kid & tell me the story how it alarmed people out in his day over the radio because they thought it was really happening.

He was really into electronics as a hobby. I even had a reel-to-reel in my room & the old 8-track casette player. I doubt many kids even know what those are these days.

He spent many nights sitting in his desk chair-smoking his pipe & listening to police radio calls on some sort of short wave radio machine.

I did pass down a couple of the "horror" movies we watched together to my kids. "The Birds" & we just saw "The Blob". Lorraine never wants to see "the Blob" again-it really freaked her out! (Which makes me laugh my head off & makes a great thing to tease her with!)

Have you all heard that Obama will not be holding public prayer or celebration at the white house for the national day of prayer? He is choosing instead to pray privately and issue a proclamation. As I have suggested earlier, maybe he's afraid of making his moslem friends angry.

jim.carroll said...

Lisa, Shalom! I can understand being freaked out by horror movies. I've found that I can watch horror movies with the sound off, using only the subtitles. "Aliens" I saw when I was a senior in college. It freaked me out so much that before I went to sleep I had to sit down and write down all the "fears" that the movie played upon, like the fear of cancer. It is, in my estimation, the most powerful horror movie ever made.

"The Omen" was a seat-squirmer -- something that made me squirm in my seat waiting for the monster to jump out of the closet. The scene that always will haunt me was when the archeologist lost his head -- literally. We were discussing this movie on the CAF, and one person wrote that when people close their eyes during scary parts of films, it's usually for only 3 seconds. That's the average length of a scary sequence in a film; so the directors deliberately filmed that sequence so it lasted 6 seconds. When you opened your eyes, it was still going on! (B*astards!)

"The Exorcist" I didn't see until I was an adult. I had read the book in high school and that was enough, thank you.

You might enjoy "The Stand" now as an adult. It really is a Christian book at heart (no pun intended). One thing that will always stay with me was when one of the spies from Denver came to Las Vegas and got a job there; how she became friends with one of the girls on her work team; and how the spy couldn't get over the fact that before the Superflu she would have had no problems being a close friend with this girl who was now aligned with evil. It's something I'm sensing now and seeing in other people's relationships. If nothing else, you should watch the miniseries, which captures the essence of the novel. I think that's because King wrote the script and was involved in the filming, so it remained true to the novel.

"Security warning for Banner Good Sam employees

By Doug Gull, Security Director, Banner Good Samaritan

There was a recent incident at Costco, on 44th Street and Thomas, involving a woman and two men offering a painting service. The woman was walking to her car when the men handed her their business card, as she drove home she became disoriented and pulled into a neighborhood after noticing the men were following her. She locked the doors and honked until a homeowner came out and called the police. The men drove off and the woman was fine. The business card tested positively for HGB, which is absorbed through the skin and caused her disorientation.

Security at Banner Good Samaritan wants to remind you to protect yourself and be aware of your surroundings. Do not touch papers or anything people are trying to give you. If you do not feel comfortable walking back to your car alone from a store, go back and ask for an employee to accompany you to your car"

Problem is, burundanga has to be ingested; usually in a drink, or sometimes in gum or a cigarette that's offered to the victim.

Doing some research online has turned up no cases where GHB was absorbed in any significant amounts through the skin. So this email has to go in the junk pile.

wow Mac,
those 2 articles were extremely sobering. I find it sad that Mr McLaren doesn't realize that he is part of the scoffers and is missing the point.

we aren't even in the tribulation yet but I think we are getting a small glimpse of how it will be. Joel said when he went to write the Ezekiel option that he had to picture how we would get to that point of the Gog war as a world and what would have to happen. I think we in the church have been guilty of not doing this. I think there has always been this assumption up until probably recently that things wouldn't fall apart in the US until after the rapture and indeed wouldn't fall apart globally until after the rapture.

I think we are seeing that there have to be some major paradigm shifts for the tribulation to happen. almost as if the evil isn't ripe yet. I also think that many of us thought that the US would not be judged as a nation until after the rapture. Now I am not so sure. We as a church are a big part of the reason that our culture is going to hell in a handbasket.

I guess we can see Satan's arrows being drawn at the Bible following, prophecy aware & Israel supporting Body of Christ.

One side is clamoring for "Peace & Security" while we are sounding the warning most don't want to hear. So what has society always done to the true prophet types? Pretty much attempted to silence or kill them.

They can only call what we speak "Hate" because they "hate" to feel their conscience kick in.(Those who have any left.)

These apostate Christians are on speedily on their way to forming the One World Religious "system" & it soon looks like a call should sound for the unaware to come out of it.

As for us-I'm sure Satan is trying to "terrorize" or "paralyze" us with fear of what these people are scheming up.

The funny part is that whatever is ultimately in his bag of tricks-God is 10 steps ahead of him & laughing @ this nonsense. Whatever Satan plans for evil-YHWH will turn into good.

Of course it's not so humerous for us in the middle of the cross fire but when YHWH reveals His mysteries in retrospect-we just may have a good laugh.

For Such a Time as This
By Jan Markell

This office has been receiving communications in the last few months revealing that some Christians 1) Are discouraged by the level of struggle they are facing; 2) Are tired of bad news and don't wish to hear or read anything negative; 3) Feel they are being tested beyond what they can endure; 4) Feel a sense of hopelessness in many areas from finances, to relationships, to grief over the dismantling of America. Some express fear along with grief and anxiety.

Christians can shoot their wounded, so I hope no one considers these people to be lesser Christians who need chastisement. They need encouragement. Nobody said it would be easy to be born for such a time as this.

Ministries like this one could compromise as many churches have. We could switch and present "feel good" articles and "happy talk" radio. We could stop sharing the inconvenient truth. Well, we will not.

The Bible says that when unrighteous people rule a nation, the people groan (Prov. 29:2). Thus, many in America are literally groaning and weeping. It would be better to be down on your knees, praying without ceasing for our great nation. As stated above in point 4, many are grieving at the loss of the America we once knew.

One of our "Understanding the Times 2009" speakers is Gary Kah. In his spring hard copy newsletter that you can order here, Gary says, "Thankfully, for Christians who have placed their hope and trust in Jesus Christ, the road does not end here. The turbulence and trials of life should only heighten our dependence on the Lord. We must put less of our faith in the material things of this world, while placing more and more of our confidence and trust in Jesus who loves us and has an eternal purpose for each of us.

"Some of us are being tested even now, being refined so that we will be more effective and loyal to Christ in the days ahead. I can tell you personally that the last few months have been among the most challenging of my life. Satan has come against our efforts from seemingly every angle to stop this message from getting out. He has not succeeded, but we have paid the price for what we are doing. It has not been easy.

"A growing number of Christians are becoming discouraged by the increasing level of difficulties they are facing. Some believe that God may be punishing them for some reason when, in reality, it is Satan who is coming against them because of their obedience to God."

I agree with Gary's summation, and I, too, can be overwhelmed with the challenges of life and ministry. If you are in turmoil, you are not alone. In fact, you might be troubling the enemy and be doing something right.

Can you focus on some hopeful verses of the Bible?

"Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the Lord" (Psalm 31:24).

"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is in the Lord" (Jeremiah 17:7).

"Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God" (Psalm 43:5).

Not all reading this may hold to this theology, but many are comforted by it. We have a great and glorious God who is returning. We are "Looking for that blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ" (Titus 2:13).

The marginalization of Christians has only just begun, and how much persecution we must endure, we do not know. (Hear my May 2 programming about this at "Radio Archives" - hour 2.) Without being argumentative and without dividing from those who believe differently, I am clinging to the promises in II Thessalonians 4:13-18. There we read that the church is removed before the worst comes upon this aching planet.

Read those verses then follow verse 18 and "comfort one another." And so shall we ever be with the Lord.

just a short note before I have to go. Praying for Campsmore's mother-in-law and whole family. Agreeing with Marge and all of you that healing is by and through the stripes of Jesus Christ.

Also, listen to prophecyinthenews.com because today's news update is very interesting.

What can we expect in the future? More of the same and a lot more intense.

Then LISA, you said "Of course it's not so humorous for us in the middle of the cross fire but when YHWH reveals His mysteries in retrospect-we just may have a good laugh." I about choked when I read this part of the sentence, "For us in the middle of the CROSS fire" and I had to absolutely shout, and kept it up. Good thing DJH was out walking. But you know it is all about the Cross don't you. All of this is about trying to destroy God and everything that belongs to him, speaks of him, lives for him and cherishes the Word of God because there is power in the Spoken Word. Jesus' name is above every name on earth, under the earth and in heaven. Now, let me make it real clear for everyone who is wondering what in the world I am talking about. God, the creator, Has visited our earth physically, in obedience to His Holy Nature, made a way for us to win this battle against the forces of darkness and evil.

That Name spoken even in a whisper sends the forces of evil reeling. The word tells us that all those who call on the name of the Lord are saved. It also tells us that the name of the Lord is a strong tower and those that run into it are saved. We are not in this battle by ourselves and we all need to learn that one.

I will gone for a few days (reason I have been absent here) and we won't have computer hookups until I return to civilization. My son is coming to Arkansas for Mother's Day and I am going to drive up tomorrow so we can all go to Eureka Springs, Arkansas for the weekend. The Passion Play is in session right now and if you have never been there, I feel sorry for you. One of the best presentations I have ever experienced.

Now, Praying for all of your needs and trusting God to keep you safe, healthy, and powerfully equipped for such a time as this. Be sure to keep your oil and lamps ready and the wicks trimmed.

Love and Shalom,
Grany

I received an email nudge from Jib this morning. Thanks for checking up on me Joyce.

With spring comes more busyness of life for me. I check up on you all every few days but haven't commented in awhile.

Denice, let Lori know we are praying for her and the family. Thanks for letting us know.

At Bible study today we looked at Mary's "extreme joy" in being chosen to carry the Savior. She gladly accepted this calling. We discussed how she must have thought about the ridicule she would endure when people learned she was pregnant, without a husband. She whole heartedly and joyously trusted God...

We also talked about how when we resist God's will we say that what God is doing is not good. Resistance to God makes us bitter while surrender leads us to appreciation of His goodness. We then can say to the Lord, "You know what heartaches I need to make me more like you." Job commented, "Should we not accept blessing from the Lord as well as adversity." We need to get a grasp on this, that God does allow affliction, so we will respond correctly when the difficult times come our way. When they do, we should not become discouraged.

Jesus told His disciples not to lose heart when He was discussing the persecution that would hit prior to His coming. (Luke 17,18) I believe the faith He energizes us with upon salvation is enduring faith. We may have weak faith at times, but it will not ultimately fail...Dear Peter, who denied the Lord three times, but for whom the Lord prayed that his faith would not fail, said God caused us to be born again to a living hope, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable...it will not fade away...we are protected by the power of God through faith. (1 Peter 1:3-5) God sees to it, with omnipotent power, that the faith with which He gifts us does not fail. Our faith falters as does our obedience, but it will never fail completely because of its Source, Jesus, the Author and Finisher of faith!

Be encouraged Beloved!

A prayer that was posted at the OL today:

Heavenly Father,

We humbly bow before you, bringing to you our praise for your wonderful, comforting promises; for your forgiveness as we sin in our humanness over and over and over; for your majesty and glory; and for the gift of your Son, Jesus Christ and of your Holy Spirit - salvation and guidance.

We come to you with our fears, Lord, our anger, our human emotions, and ask for your Wisdom. We beseech you, Father, to give us a hunger and thirst for you and you alone...for your Word and your Truth. Guide us in the way that we should go, Lord, and help us to stay focused, calm and hopeful.

Lord, lead us through open doors to those who are walking in blindness. We ask for strength and wisdom in our witness, both verbal and in how we live. Help us to help those who are lost.

We yearn to come Home, Lord, but until that glorious day, please watch over us, guide us, keep us safe, and help us to stand firm in the chaos. You are an awesome God and we love You above all else.

We ask and pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen

Thank you

Hey all, Sharon is doing fine. She had a mini-stroke. She's asking for her eye-liner and lipstick to be brought to the hospital. She was a MaryKay Nat'l Sales Director and doesn't go to the mailbox without her lipstick!

Anyway, she could use a good nights' sleep. She hears everything at night and the nearby trains ran all night.

Please pray she can come home this morning. She really wants to get out of the hospital.

Diana, glad your husband is off the cancer sticks. I'll be praying for him.

Lori, so glad to hear the good report from Sharon. Sounds like everything, spunk included, has been restored ;-)

Diana, Will be praying for your hubby and his deliverance from smoking, too. Perhaps the video that Lisa shared earlier this week would be good encouragement for him?

Have a blessed day, one and all!

Praying for strength in quitting the smoking addiction! My husband has been quit for over a year now! He smoked for about 30 years! With Y'shua/Jesus all things are possible! The prayers and encouragement are great! I have been going through a valley myself. I lost a job making $28 an hour due to a back injury. The place of employment doesn't have to pay anything, since I didn't realize it was as bad as it was,and I didn't report it the day it happened. Abba Father just reminds me that I am not to trust in men, but to keep my eyes on Him! Blessings that have come out of it, the many people I have met in the doctor's offices that never go to church and I get to tell them about the Lord! Also, I have been searching much deeper in His Word since I have some time on my hands! I have had 4 surgeries, the last one in February was a fusion. Keep focused on the blessings and you can endure!
The commercial for God's love is great! I saw it yesterday and absolutely loved it! It is good to hear a corporation is sponsoring it. Someone is making a stand! I thought it was a church! Loved the post!

Can you find the names of 25 books of the Bible in this page?

This is a most remarkable puzzle! Someone found it in the seat pocket on a flight from Los Angeles to Honolulu, keeping himself occupied for hours. One man from Illinois worked on this while fishing from his johnboat. Roy Clark studied it while playing his banjo. Elaine Victs mentioned it in her column once.

One woman judges the job to be so involving, she brews a cup of tea to help calm her nerves. There will be some names that are really easy to spot…that’s a fact. Some people will sometimes find themselves in a jam, especially since the book names are not necessarily capitalized.

The truth is, from answers we get, we are forced to admit it usually takes a minister or scholar to see some of them at the worst. Something in our genes is responsible for the difficulty we have. Those able to find all of them will hear great lamentations from those who have to be shown!

One revelation may help. Books like Timothy and Samuel may occur without their numbers. Punctuation and spaces in the middle are normal. A chipper attitude will help you compete! Remember, there are 25 books of the Bible lurking somewhere in this page…

I had the best dream last night. Usually if I wake up in the middle of a dream to go to the bathroom I can resume the dream but not last night. so frustrating because all I can remember was that I was dreaming about the rapture and we were all singing while being raptured. I don't remember much about the songs except that I was not familiar with any of them, but I knew the words and we were definitely praising God. The music was better than the best praise service I've ever attended. it was an amazingly real dream even for me.

Jib,
We snuck in to see Lisa. Physically she is doing better. The operation saved her life but was brutal. She has a very limited diet now, but she's lost 60 lbs, and looks great.
Her husband doesn't honor her. He told her a few weeks ago that when their son turns 18, he is going to divorce her and not a day before. That way he doesn't have to pay child support.
He emotionally batters her, so she really needs constant prayer.

Geoff is going to a new doctor with some great ideas. His condition is currently stable.

Saw Sharon yesterday. She's home, but looks really tired. We didn't stay long, she doesn't need company right now, she needs rest. Pray for her and Bob (father-in-law) to make the right decisions concerning Grandpa. He is living at their home, 94 years old. Bob is worn out trying to take care of him and he's nearly 80. They've been trying to honor Grandpa by keeping him at home, but I think the time is soon coming to make other arrangements.

Happy mother's day to all of the mom's and grandmom's. If you aren't a mom you are probably someone's mentor so that makes you a mom too so blessings upon you also.

Lori
thanks for the update on all. I knew she had to be battered somehow just from what you were saying. She's likely not in any condition to initiate proceedings on her own and he could escalate to physical violence if she did. This is the one area where I absolutely have no issue with divorce. While I've never been battered this is a visceral thing for me and I don't know why.

Does grandpa qualify for assisted living? not the same as a nursing home. if they don't want to place him in a home of any kind they might want to check with their local hospice unit. sometimes hospice will take the elderly even if they have longer than a year to live and will assist in providing services to them. The most important of which is respite care. If Bob and Sharon need a break for a few days or even a vacation the hospice unit will take them on their inpatient unit for a 3 day minimum and then the senior can come home. If you have a senior center in your area you might check and see what options are available to you. Some places have senior daycare also for half or full days.

Did Geoff ever try avastatin?

"incentives, such as the right for El Al, the Israeli airline, to fly over Arab air space and visas for Israeli tourists to Arab states."

From that article-but why would the Israeli's have any interest in visiting Arab states? Don't most of them want to chop off their heads?

So it's a
"King Abdullah"/"Barack Obama" schemed up "Peace Deal"? We should give it a slang term.

KA/BO - The KABO Deal?

Oh, but I wonder if the "Temple Mount" would have an attraction? Such as dividing it up so the Israeli's could restart their Temple Sacrifices. Add to that- officially declaring whatever land they have left after carving it up to be an officially globally recognized "Jewish State."

All the Arabs have to do for a few years is lie under oath-which is completely acceptable in order to carry out a greater plan in the name of Allah. A key question is- could they manage to swallow their pride for a short time so they could trick the Jews into thinking they have a real "Peace" deal?

Does Psalm 83 and/or Gog/Magog have to occur 1st? Or will the KABO deal postpone it for a time-that's if they come up w/something that will appeal to both the Jews & Arabs.
