“An infinite God can give all of Himself to each of His children. He does not distribute Himself that each may have a part, but to each one He gives all of Himself as fully as if there were no others.”
Hi Jeri, good to hear from you. How is the family?
I've just finished watching the Jesus Drama Video again. Every once in a while I need to be reminded.
Rom 8:35-39 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Just as it is written, "FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG; WE WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED." But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Great post, Mr.Hyde! How wonderful to know that we have a Father in heaven who is fully with us and does not have to divide His time amongst all His children.
The situation I wrote about a few days ago, asking prayer for my daughter's career decision, will soon come to a head. She has made her decision and will have to disclose it to this important person in her life. (Even I am not sure that she has made the right choice, I just have to trust God and trust her)
Please pray that all relationships survive and even thrive, that our Lord's hand is on each person involved. Thank you all so much.
Lori, I did a quick Google search and found that church vandalism is WAY up in the past year, including Orangeburg, SC, where there have been 22 church vandalism cases in the past 6 months, including 5 cases over Easter weekend where church windows were broken.
Anne sometimes decisions although they don't seem to be for the best end up being that way
Mac the Revelation song was amazing
Grany/Lori don't remember which of you posted the evolution of dance but that was truly hilarious!
Grany DH and I took ballroom dance for awhile. our best dances were the foxtrot and the rumba although we also liked the cha cha. one of the few shows I make sure to record or watch is dancing with the stars. it started off with I'm doing this to humor you and surprise you because I love you but when we went to a reception and we weren't the best dancers or showiest dancers there he bought more lessons! it was the first time I saw just how competitive my silent husband could really be. truly funny.
you know I had a chance to scan briefly the post from JRed and what is interesting is that I've intermittently thought that the Rapture would happen around the time of the Ascension. He makes some good points about Pentecost being a reasonable time for the Rapture as well.
To catch me up with the previous post comments. I went to bed early last night and slept like a baby.
CHRISTINE: To answer the question about Charleston, SC. Not the State of So. Carolina. They were champion Charleston dancers in the roaring 20's days. They were only 7 and 8 years old at the time and then as they grew older the Charleston Dance began to fade away with the depression in respectable homes. But there was a rebirth of it in the late 40's and 50's. Lots of exercise and by the way, the physicians I worked for in my earlier years (like my late 30's and 40's and 50's) claimed there was much benefit to dancing as it kept the body in good physical shape and improved balance and strength. Minus the liquor that is. Square dancing took a big lead in the rural areas in order to maintain integrity and preserve a healthy atmosphere for families. When I was growing up and early adult life, we had Granges which were the local rural gathering places for all kinds of community type functions. Square Dancing was a very frequent part of the Grange meetings. Those were the days when everyone helped each other do all of the farming chores and it was the strength of the nation. Those were stories that tell of what Americans really are made of. Not the sort of thing that is done anymore with all of the competition to have all of the newest toys.
THUUNDA, I loved the "Hallelujah" link and plan on listening to it very often.
MR. HYDE, I loved the reminder you gave us and although it just is hard to get a hold of to me, I take great comfort in knowing that I am His beloved and He is mine too. I don't have to win His love, He is Love and equally so to each and everyone of us.
So, what does that mean really? No super Spirituals in the true measure of God's Love. But we have been given promises of who we are IN Christ:
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. (Colossians 3:1)
And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought IN CHRIST, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come. (Ephesians 1:19-21)
And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places IN Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 2:6) Joined By One Spirit: But he that is joined unto the Lord is one Spirit. (1 Corinthians 6:17)
Christ Unto Me: But of him are ye IN CHRIST Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption. (1 Corinthians 1:30)
Christ Lives In Me: Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his Saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is CHRIST IN you, the hope of glory: Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect IN CHRIST Jesus. (Colossians 1:26-28)
God In Me: And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be IN YOU. (John 14:16-17)
At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye IN ME, and I IN you. (John 14:20)
But ye are not in the flesh, but IN THE SPIRIT, if so be that the SPIRIT OF GOD dwell IN YOU. Now if any man have not the SPIRIT OF CHRIST, he is none of his. And if Christ be IN YOU, the body is dead because of sin; but the SPIRIT is life because of righteousness. But if the SPIRIT of HIM (HOLY SPIRIT)that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell IN YOU, HE that raised up CHRIST from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by HIS SPIRIT that dwelleth IN YOU. (Romans 8:9-11)
I IN them, and thou IN me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. (John 17:23)
One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and IN YOU ALL. (Ephesians 4:6)"
All upper case is my trying to bring to our full attention who we really are IN CHRIST. The Holy Spirit is and was the Anointing that is our Spiritual ability to transcend evil and the lord of evil, Satan. It was the power of the Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead, grave and the kingdom of darkness. The same power that took Jesus' glorified body into heaven at his Ascension. The same power that will connect us to Jesus' command, "COME UP HERE". If there is no real relationship in the persons who claim to be Christian, they will remain here to face the terrible wrath of God. God is love, pure and simple but he is also a righteous God who will not allow evil and rebellion to continue past a certain time line or preset determined factor. The Tribulation is God's judgment against rebellion.
We are seated IN Christ (The Anointing to accomplish all things that God desires)and already have God's approval and authority to carry out the full ministry of Jesus Christ. The next step is putting it in our hearts to obey God's Word and carry out the his Command found in Mark 16: 14 Later he appeared to the eleven themselves as they were sitting at the table; and he upbraided them for their lack of faith and stubbornness, because they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen. 15 And he said to them, ‘Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation. 16The one who believes and is baptized will be saved; but the one who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: by using my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18they will pick up snakes in their hands, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.’ 19 So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And they went out and proclaimed the good news everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by the signs that accompanied it.
So, be ye filled continuously with and by the Holy Spirit to do all things in Christ Jesus that the Holy Spirit was poured out into all of us to do. It isn't a vehicle to be used for fame or glory nor is it to enable anyone to acquire great fortune but it is to glorify God's Kingdom and His Son, Jesus Christ.
Off of soup can and back to work in my kitchen, Grany
Jib, re: Jerry Golden's website, if you enter http://thegoldenreport.com, you can access the home page with no problems. If you enter http://www.thegoldenreport.com, you get sent to a template that was used to create the web page.
The problem is that all the links on the home page use the "www" as part of the link, so all the links are broken.
I've sent an email to Mr. Golden letting him know what's happening. What you'll have to do is when you click on a link, wait for the web page to fail, then go to the address bar and take the "www." out of the URL, then try again.
JIM C. You is so smart and I really appreciate that bit of info. I keep getting the same thing with some of my old links that used to work. For some reason, they have taken the www. out; do you have any idea why they did that?
How is daughter's laptop doing? You might have to go to the manufacturers web site to down load the system files. I know you are probably on the lastest and best web supplier but if you need any assist from me, you know how to get in contact with me.
I just now got back into my email account. Me and the Fox are working on the problem. You know how desperate a shape it is when Fox has to have me helping them. LOL ~~@;o} Oh, yeah!
Enjoying all of the great posts! It's also wonderful not to have to scroll so far to get to the bottom! LOL! OK. I am answering a couple of posts to the last post so here it goes; I am not sure about the hallelujah song. It is also subtitled Shrek's song, so it may be a song that goes with one of the Shrek cartoons? Anyway, here are the words, click here so maybe that will help figure it out. It seems to be a song of nonsense. Some of it is about the Lord, and the rest is hard to figure out, It sounds really pretty though. Campsmore, How do I get a copy of Unlocking God's secrets? Lisa, thanks for the link! Anne, I will be looking for the movie! Thuunda, my friend lives in the Buduburan refugee camp. They are originally from Liberia. They may close the camp down soon and send them home. They are very concerned how they will move all of the people in their group and the children. They are in a very hard place and need prayer! While I am thinking about prayer, pray for Myrtle Beach SC as it is on fire today. I think they have lost 15,000 acres and several homes! I learned something today I wanted to share. We all remember when satan tempted Y'shua/Jesus. At the last temptation, he wanted Y'shua/Jesus to bow down and worship him. I found out the Hebraic word is obedience to. So he wasn't just wanting Him to bow to him, he wanted his obedience. Of course, he didn't get it. However, he does try it on mankind today. There are of course, times he succeeds, especially when he can get people tied up in addictions. Anyway, the Jewish people tie boxes on their right hands and on their foreheads. They do this to be obedient to the Word where it says to bind them on your right hand and forehead. The boxes contain scrolls with the Word of G-d written on them. The connection is this, We are suppose to be obedient to G-d and have His commandment written on our hearts. But the curious thing is, during the time of tribulation, people will be required to show their obedience to the AC by taking a mark ON THEIR RIGHT HANDS AND THEIR FOREHEADS! It is an absolute conterfeit for what G-d said! These people will be completely giving their soul to obey the commandments of satan! I thank the Lord that He has given me the opportunity to know Him and to serve Him! What a beautiful opportunity!
I just reread my comments to Jim C. and Jim, I was joshing you about asking me for help. O yes! Like you need the help of a Great Grany when you have the mind that God gave you! I was really putting you to it and it didn't sound like that when I read it again.
So stop going ARGGGGGGGGGHHHHH! Chill out and sip a cool something or other. By the way it was well over 80 here today and it was drop dead beautiful. Our part of Oklahoma is very, very pretty and we have one of the nicest blue water lakes in the nation. So, if you don't mind chiggers, snakes (some dangerous), tornadoes, ticks and the Mountain Lions and Cougars relocating into the state, come on down or over or whatever. It gets hot here in the summer but Marge and Kathy, Stacy, Child of the King, Jim G. and Grace are the only ones I know who don't have hot summers. Or least, I don't think they do. But it is very pretty here. Lots of hills, almost mountains, wonderful trees, grass that stays green a long time, and the bluest skies I have ever seen. The part I live in is called "Green Country" and it is!
I am missing Nate and JIM G., Grumpy I have given up on seeing here again but I still pray for him, Harold, Davey with the long name I always misspell and many, many more. We just have to have a reunion and Boro_Eagle. There is a new family that moved in close to us and when I met them the first time, he started to introduce himself to us and I thought he was going to tell us his name was Boroeagle but it wasn't. Pooie!
Well, on to the excitement of a Senior Citizen evening with hubby. Wish I could remember the things we used to do in the evening when we were younger. We take turns napping now! hehehehehe
Hey all, The comment on prayer not having to be specific to be effective prompts me... Jenny doesn't think I should post this but here goes. My brother, the Wycliffe guy, his wife and three beautiful little daughters are in great danger. I know that God wants them where they are until the work is done, but it's getting bad FAST. They are leaving their assignment for a safe country in June, but that might be too late. Could you all pray for God's protection whenever you think about him and his family? If anything does happen it'll make the news fast.
Grany, not to worry. The problem with my daughter's laptop is that she was a) trying to get rid of a virus, and b) was working on the problem at 2AM. (Remember, kids, nothing good ever happens after midnight.) Two infection warnings came up, and she automatically told the AV software to delete the files, only realizing later that the warnings had said something about "system files" and "do you really want to do this?" Now her laptop will only boot into safe mode -- no networking, no nothing.
There is only one way that I can rescue her laptop without wiping the disk and reinstalling Windows, but it involves using a repair process that's on her Windows installation CD. Her laptop was a graduation gift from me. If any of the original CDs that came with the laptop are still around, they're up at her mother's house, buried somewhere unexpected. ("Oh, gee, I thought I'd washed that underwear before putting it in the box...") I can't use one of my copies, because whereas I've got a couple of copies of Windows XP Pro, her laptop came installed with Windows XP Media Center 2005. So, I bit the bullet and shelled out the money to buy a copy of Windows XP Media Center 2005. It should be here by next Wednesday. In truth, I'd probably still have to buy a copy even if I could find her original CD. The installation CDs that are shipped with most computers now are set up to go straight into installation mode, rather than letting you chose the repair options.
In any case, now I have free time to do what I scheduled myself to do for the past two days: braiding string. I'm getting into candle making, which to me means also making your own wicks. I've also got to get ready for a job fair on Saturday. ("So, just WHAT have you been doing the last six months, Mr. Carroll?") Wish me luck.
JIM Carroll, I don't believe in luck but I do believe in God's putting you in favor according to His high calling. You go to that Fair and I asking God to send His divine favor before you and the person/company/group that is looking just for your particular expertise will be there, brought directly to you and that you will shine light the lights of heaven in their opinion and selection.
Please keep us posted. I believe in specific prayers because of Jesus question to the blind man: "What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked him. The blind man said, "Rabbi, I want to see" (Mark 10:51, NIV)."
"In the past, Christians may have avoided these conversations. Is that changing with younger believers?"
"We go to Christian colleges because we want to raise up a new generation of grassroots activists. There's a lot of "me-me-me" even … with younger generations in the church, so it's hard for people to think about the collective good, and that's the perspective it takes to think globally about the environment."
I'm still here. Just been very busy. I have a brother-in-law who lives in Tulsa, OK. If my wife and I ever get out to see him, maybe we can take a trip to the eastern part of the state and see some of the beauty you keep bragging about. Oregon has some beautiful country too. I can't complain.
Funny story about my boy. We were returning from a quick run to Costco a couple of nights ago. I had a children's CD with a bunch of hymns on it playing in my pickup. Daniel really loves singing and shows signs of being very gifted with music (unlike me).
Anyway, the song Bringing in the Sheaves was playing and he was singing along with it. I realized he didn't quite hear the words correctly though. He was singing, "Bringing in the cheese, bringing in the cheese, we shall come rejoicing, bringing in the cheese!"
Please pray for Darian and his family (youg boy with terminal cancer). I have had a very strong urge to go and pray for Darian in person. I just sent his Mom and Dad a letter offering to come over and pray for him and them if there is a good time. Time with Darian is very precious at this point and I want to be respectful of that.
But, I also don't want to give up. Please join me in praying for a miracle. He needs comfort and healing right now. One lung is filled with fluid and the other one is filling fast. Please pray that the Lord clear his lungs of all fluid and that good air that is rich in oxygen would flood into his lungs and that all cancer would leave his little body.
Scott, I am praying for your brother. I asked the Lord to hide them under the shadow of His wings and to send His mighty angels to protect them; that the enemies may see their protection and so leave them alone. I asked for the Lord to get this family to safety quickly and that the Lord be glorified in so doing.
Jim G; Praying for this dear little boy as well.
Christine; I never noticed the right hand and forhead thing either. How interesting.
I was awakened by my 3 year old yelling but he went back to sleep. I just couldn't! I think that I will pray some more and then get back to sleep. It is 3am here!
Jim G; I have been to Darian's web site. This reminded me of a book that I read a while back. It was written by the father of a boy who had the same cancer that Darian has. I do not remember the boy's name but the book is called "Walking (boy's name) Home" It was a wonderfully written book by a loving father. His son went to be with the Lord. I will continue to pray for this little boy.
Grany, I believe in specific prayer, too. I often use that verse in prayer, it settles some of the distress I feel when I am petitioning my Father for something. I sense Him saying to me, "Now, calm down, Sweetie, and tell me, what do you want me to do?" My mind settles down and I can think more clearly.
I am glad that He doesn't need me to know the details that others are reluctant to disclose, for whatever reason, and I can still pray for them.
Caring bridge is such a cool internet tool. one of the missionaries from my parents church used it to keep their churches who sponsor them up to date on what was happening with their son. Their children have a really funky disorder of some of the basic building blocks of the body. most of these kids die from dilated blood vessels that burst in a variety of places before age 8 or so. Two of their kids have died. I believe 2 more of their kids have the disease and may be one does not (don't really remember but I do remember that at least one more of their kids has this disease). Darian has my prayers he is the same age is my son.
as a bit of trivia. my dad's name is Omer and the counting of the Omer begins around the time of Passover (Pharisees won out over the Sadducees on this but Frucht says that as with the Feast of Unleavened Bread the Pharisaic tradition is wrong) anyhoo the counting of the Omer ends at Shavuot aka Pentecost-which just happens to be the exact date of my dad's bday this year. weird isn't it!
my mom says that her friend is making some progress getting off the ventilator and that her kidneys have started working some. all supportive meds for bp have been tapered off.
DIANA, I was praying the same thing about hiding Scott's brother and family under His wings and sending all of the angels to protect them in doing so. But I thought I was just over reacting and didn't want to alarm anyone here on the blog. So, we were praying the same thing about the same time (are you Central Daylight Savings Time?) so the Holy Spirit knew the need for such prayers or we wouldn't have been in Spiritual agreement. I truly believe we are stepping into a Prayer Zone of sorts, for lack of a better word or description. When I was first saved it seemed like the prayers took forever to be answered and now, just thinking about praying such and such, the answer is there before the utterance. Let me give you an example: the other night a friend here called to ask me to join in prayers with her for her son's protection and recovery of stolen property. He lives in Dallas, TX and the robbery was very serious and could have resulted in bodily harm down the road. As we were praying and asking God to restore the stolen values and items, her son called her from his apartment. Someone had left the stolen items at his front door with a note. The robbery had happened in broad daylight after he had left to go to work. The son isn't real sure about trusting prayers. When he called his mother it was to ask her to start praying. Less than 30 minutes after he had called her the first time, the items were restored. The call he made to tell us about it shook him up so bad that he had to end the conversation quickly. The only ones who knew about the robbery were the robber, the victim, his mother, me and THE HOLY SPIRIT. This has happened so many times in the past 2 years but the interval between uttered and answered is getting shorter and shorter. I could write a book about the swiftness of God's response but the biggest surprise is when you know what you need and area afraid to ask Him and He does it anyway. There are a lot of prayers that I have offered up that have not been answered but most of the time I am very thankful He didn't do it my way.
I am praying for little Darian Jim G.
Anne, I know what you mean about that snuggling feeling with ABBA. Makes the asking so much less important when the realization that we are in His lap of Mercy, love, grace and peace.
Scott, you may want to teach your brother (if he doesn't already know it) the Smuggler's Prayer that Brother Andrew used to pray before bringing a load of bibles into Iron Curtain countries: Father, You have made blind eyes to see. Now I ask you to make seeing eyes blind.Anne, soy candles? No, they just lend themselves to too many puns:
How's the candle making coming? OH, kinda soy-soy.
How many candles are you making? Not many -- just a paraffin.(I guess the paraffin candles aren't much better as far as puns go.) Seriously, I'm going to be experimenting with different mold shapes and colors (but not with scents -- not until my allergies clear up anyway) which is much less expensive when using paraffin. I got a 10lb block of paraffin at the local hobby store for only $15. I can't begin to guess how much an equal amount of soy-based candle makings would cost. There's also a store close by where the owners have their own bee colony. They don't sell the honey anymore -- apparently only friends and employees get it -- but they do sell blocks of the bees wax for much less than it costs at the hobby store. I'm getting blocks of that with an eye towards dipping candles -- truly an exercise in patience.
The White House is closely following the outbreak of a new strain of swine flu in the United States and President Barack Obama has been informed, an administration official said Friday.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the virus in the United States was a never-before-seen mixture of viruses typical among pigs, birds and humans. All seven American patients, who came down with the illness, have recovered. But it has also broken out in Mexico, killing at least 16 people and sickening more than 800.
ANNE, I feel so much better now that BOO has been notified. Maybe he will take his teleprompter, get on Air Force One and go hold meaningful conversations with the scientist to rename the bacteria, something different than Swine. You know that Swine is not something that his Brothers in the Hoods approve of.
But on a serious note, of all the flu strains that have been in existence during my lifetime, the Swine Flu Epidemic in the USA was the one I remember the most and dread the rebirth of it in any degree. I worked at a major medical clinic in the 70's and everytime someone came into the clinic for treatment, having that particular problem, I got the blasted flu. Managed to loose 7 weeks work during that one flu season. Never have felt so horrible in my entire life.
So, everyone quit kissing, smooching, hugging, loving, and breathing until this thing passes. Then if you are still here and feeling great we will have a wonderful reunion.
I remember having a horrible flu back around 1965, my mom referred to it as the "London" flu. I still remember having hallucinations. Our home was quarantined and the doctors visited our home to give me shots in my poor bum.
That was more than 40 yrs ago and very vivid in my mind.
I just overheard on the radio that the swine flu has made it to San Diego.
Jib,
I think it was Chuck Smith on the radio but the discussion was in regards to the Jewish people & the role of the Gentiles. The passage of "provoking" them to jealousy was brought up & he made a great point.
I've also pondered how the actions of the Church today (as it's typically so lame.) could provoke anyone to jealousy.
He brought up the fact that when you speak to Jews the mention of the Messiah Jesus- it brings a very hot & angry response from them.
For the Jews today almost anything goes except for a Jew who believes in Jesus as the Messiah. A Jew can be an atheist, Buddhist, you name it but if they believe in Jesus then they renounce them as even being Jewish at all.
Why does the mention of Jesus provoke such a response? Because they are jealous of the Gentiles being used as vehicles to bring salvation to the world.
They want to still be the people called out by God for that role. It's this very jealously that will eventually bring them back to God during the Tribulation period. The fullness of the Gentiles will still be going on in the Trib as multitudes of people will make up the Tribulation saints. It's the last part of the Trib where the Jews are tried/refined & ready for their role once more to lead the nations in their former Priestly role once again.
The time when 10 Gentiles will grab the robe of a Jew to be led into truth about YHWH.
Anyway-the way in which he explained it made me realize they are indeed jealous right now- even with the generally pathetic state of the apostate Church.
Remember-although the Bible declares the Apostasy will happen in the latter days of the Church-He always sets aside a remnant who will be true to His Word. So we should not become discouraged (hard not to) because it's part of His plan & He has told us beforehand what will happen.
Reposting the comment: JERI, good seeing your name at the top again. Be sure to give your beautiful wife and daughters our love.
Lisa,I received my Spring 2009 newsletter from Ariel Ministries and Dr. Fruchtenbaum has a wonderful teaching on Ezra you might want to read. The manner in which he started out the topic just ties into what you were wondering about regarding the Jews jealousy for the Christians. Hope the link works out for you and if not, I will forward to your email.
Grany
WELL THE LINK DIDN'T WORK SO I DELETED IT. I will send it to you via email.
[The Lord said,] "I have made you a light to the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the furthest corners of the earth." When the Gentiles heard this, they were very glad and thanked the Lord for his message; and all who were appointed to eternal life became believers. Acts 13:47-48 NLT
Jesus wants us to see that neighbor next door or the people sitting next to us on a plane or in a classroom are not interruptions to our schedule. They are there by divine appointment. Jesus wants you to see their needs, their loneliness, their longings, and he wants to give us the courage to reach out to the them. Rebecca Manley Pippert
Appointed to eternal life
When I read this verse, I am reminded that there are people around us whom God is pursuing. It may be the teenager down the street, a lonely coworker, a weary single parent, or even someone standing next to you in line at the bank. The world is full of men and women who have been crying out to God in the quiet desperation of their hearts or in the darkness of a long night. God has been working in their lives and stirring a desire for him. He wants to use us to be a light to them and bring them the good news of hope in Jesus Christ. Ask that his Spirit would show you those in your neighborhood or workplace who need to be the recipients of your prayers. He will help you to build relationships with them and be a vessel through whom God can share his love.
LORD, show me those in my neighborhood, my circle of friends, and my family that you want me to pray for and build relationships with. They may be the very people you have appointed to eternal life. Equip me to be a light to those who don't know you and to love them for Christ's sake.
Alesia thanks for clarifying :-) I think you need to pick a continent and both of you be on that same continent in reasonable proximity. shall we start a fund? ;-)
all went well in Gauteng re the voting...no incidents, took me 15 minutes to vote...can you believe that?
Grany,
glad you liked the song...those guys have special voices. btw, I bought that Il Divo DVD...great stuff indeed! Great post Grany...preach it bro...uhm...sister!!! The word of God stirs the soul...
Christine,
yes the hallelujah song was in the first Shrek movie, but it's actually MUCH older than that and was written by a guy named Leonard Cohen (I believe). Here is what I believe is the original version:
Hallelujah By Il Divo in ItalianGrany, which version you like best? Some of the words aren't all that great, but it seems to describe the fall of David.
I like this song, it moves me for some reason, especially when I consider how David fell...and the many times I have done the same...
Looks like everyone and his pet elephant has sung this song.
Anyways, enough of that.
Christine, I'm actually quite surprised that there are "refugee" camps inside of Ghana. I will ask my friend about that. I pray for them. There are so much suffering on this continent.
Lol Grany, looking at you describing your home I thought you will fit in well right here in Africa, yesiree!
Anne,
well stated: "Now, calm down, Sweetie, and tell me, what do you want me to do?" My mind settles down and I can think more clearly."
THUUNDA, You know which one I like the most~~~~Il Divo! I enjoyed Jeff Buckley's rendition of it also but I just really love the beauty of Il Divo and yes, I am going to recommend the DVD to everyone who enjoys their music. I might know the words but the sound and wonderful voices are such a blessing to my ears. I can put any words I want to with the music and let it sing of great worship and praise to our Abba.
You know Thuunda, my husband and I travelled to the Canary Islands in 1995 and I so wanted to take the extra time and visit Africa. I have always had a fasination with your country since I first saw the pictures in my grade school's library. We were given National Geographic Magazine all of the years I attended and that was in 1940 so the pictures were great. Nothing about evolution and slime being my beginnings. But the dream didn't materialize and we came back to Africa Oklahoma style. They still chase little calves around here trying to pretend they are on a rhino hunt and the only wild cats here are the ones Mountain Lions, Bobcats, Cougars, and occasionally a Panther but that is very rare. I would love to come to your homeland and enjoy the beauty and just maybe, get to share Jesus with others who are looking and wanting Hope and Love that Changes them and their surroundings.
But you are there and so I commission you to do so in my stead. Share Jesus with them and tell them a Great Grany in Oklahoma U.S.A. sends them her love.
JIB, sending the material to you right away.
Anyone else want to receive it let me know and if I have your email address I will get it to you.
The Holy Spirit just dropped it into my heart to ask you all to be praying big time for our Lindalou. She doesn't comment very much but she is in desperate need of your prayers for healing and provisions. Please pray now! It is genuine and I will get the article mailed to you JIB as soon as I petition God for her.
Israel shocked by Obama's approval of large Turkish arms sale to Lebanon
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report 22 April: DEBKAfile describes senior Israeli military circles as staggered by the discovery that US president Barack Obama had approved a large Turkish arms sale to the Lebanese army, including the services of Turkish military instructors, without informing Jerusalem. This was taken as further proof that the US president is deaf to Israel's immediate security concerns.
When he signed the arms deal in Ankara Tuesday, April 21, Lebanese president Gen. Michel Suleiman once again pledged publicly to place the Lebanese army at the disposal of the Shiite terrorist Hizballah in any confrontation with Israel.
More than 50 percent of Lebanon's fighting manpower are Shiites loyal to Hizballah. The conviction is growing in Jerusalem that the US president endorsed the transaction as a means of breaking up the long-standing military pact between Israel and Turkey, because it interferes with his Middle East objectives.
Marge, the goods are on the way and should be there by now.
I am going to take some time off and get my self ready for the excitement this evening. We are watching a special NCIS program together. To bad Marge and her DH don't live closer we could share TV's.
I will keep everyone in my prayers! We need to find a way to start a prayer journal. We can have a column for the prayer requests, and another for prayers answered! There seems to be a good need for it! As for making Israel jealous, I posted a link to a Rabbi's newspaper column where he came to a home meeting and was healed of kidney disease! He saw them do what we call the Lord's supper, but in Hebrew it is something else, they also had a kosher meal for the evening and he was amazed! He was really amazed at being healed! His question at one of our meetings was, "How does it feel to have the Spirit of the Lord living inside of you?" He still isn't sure what we have, but he knows its something wonderful and it has something to do with G-d! He said he wants it too! Pray for him!
Granny, Lisa, and all, Thanks for lifting up my brother and his family in prayer. As far as being more specific, I can't without breaking my word and possibly putting his life in more danger unnecessarily. Granny, he's aware of the work of brother Andrew. He deals in miracles very day. He was verifying what Joel R. was saying about dreams and visions yrs ago. A large number of people in his language area come to know the Lord because they meet Christ in dreams or visions. Apparently, that is common in their culture. Makes you wonder what we the American church are not hearing. Anyway, please keep the prayer wall around him until June, and I'll update you if anything changes before then.
OK. You all are not going to believe this! I get a newsletter from Sid Roth. I don't agree with everything he does, but he seems to have a sincere heart in his search for G-d. Anyway, I got the newsletter today and guess who is on the front of it! Maurice Skylar! I can't believe we were just talking about him and here he is! I am guessing he is going to be on his show sometimes this month. You might can access either Maurices' or Sid's web page and get a date and time. I just wanted to let you all know. Thuunda, I am enclosing a link to the web page for the young man who is helping keep the orphanage running at the refugee camp. click here

I don't think I have ever encountered this before.
By Tim Wood Professor of History at Southwest Baptist University Bolivar, Missouri
I am a student of history. Professionally. I have written 15 books in six languages, and have studied it all my life. I think there is something monumentally large afoot, and I do not believe it is just a banking crisis, or a mortgage crisis, or a credit crisis. Yes these exist, but they are merely single facets on a very large gemstone that is only now coming into sharper focus.
Something of historic proportions is happening. I can sense it because I know how it feels, smells, what it looks like, and how people react to it. Yes, a perfect storm may be brewing, but there is something happening within our country that has been evolving for about ten - fifteen years. The pace has dramatically quickened in the past two.
We demand and then codify into law the requirement that our banks make massive loans to people we know they can never pay back. Why?
We learn that the Federal Reserve, which has little or no real oversight by anyone, has 'loaned' two trillion dollars (that is $2,000,000,000,000) over the past few months, but will not tell us to whom, or why, or disclose the terms. That is our money. Yours and mine. And that is three times the $700B we all argued about so strenuously just this past September. Who has this money? Why do they have it? Why are the terms unavailable to us? Who asked for it? Who authorized it? I thought this was a government of 'we the people', who loaned our powers to our elected leaders. Apparently not.
We have spent two or more decades intentionally de-industrializing our economy. Why? We have intentionally dumbed down our schools, ignored our history, and we no longer teach our founding documents, showing why we are exceptional and why we are worth preserving. Students by and large cannot write, think critically, read, or articulate. Parents are not revolting, teachers are not picketing, and school boards continue to back mediocrity. Why?
We have now established the precedent of protesting every close election (now violently in California over a proposition that is so 'controversial' that it wants marriage to remain between one man and one woman!). Did you ever think such a thing possible just a decade ago? We have corrupted our sacred political process by allowing unelected judges to write laws that radically change our way of life, and then allow mainstream Marxist groups like ACORN and others to turn our voting system into a banana republic. To what purpose?
Now our mortgage industry is collapsing, housing prices are in free fall, major industries are failing, our banking system is on the verge of collapse, Social Security is nearly bankrupt, as is Medicare and our entire government, and our education system is worse than a joke. (I teach college and know precisely what I am talking about.) The list is staggering in its length, breadth, and depth. It is potentially 1929 x ten. And we are at war with an enemy we cannot name for fear of offending people of the same religion, an enemy who cannot wait to slit the throats of your children if they have the opportunity to do so.
Now we have elected President a man no one knows anything about, who has never run so much as a Dairy Queen, let alone a town as big as Wasilla , Alaska All of his associations and alliances are with real radicals in their chosen fields of employment, and everything we learn about him, drip by drip, is unsettling, if not downright scary. Surely you have heard him speak about his idea to create and fund a 'mandatory civilian defense force' stronger than our military for use inside our borders. No? Oh, of course. The media would never play that for you over and over, and then demand he explain it. Sarah Palin's pregnant daughter and $150,000 wardrobe is more important to the media.
Mr. Obama's winning platform can be boiled down to one word: change. Why?
I have never been so afraid for my country and for my children as I am now! This man campaigned on bringing people together, something he has never, ever done in his professional life. In my assessment, Obama will divide us along philosophical lines, push us apart, and then try to realign the pieces into a new and different power structure. Change is indeed coming. And when it comes, you will never see the same nation again.
And that is only the beginning.
I thought I would never be able to experience what the ordinary, moral German felt in the mid-1930s. In those times, the savior was a former smooth-talking rabble-rouser from the streets, about whom the average German knew next to nothing. What they did know was that he was associated with groups that shouted, shoved, and pushed around people with whom they disagreed. He edged his way onto the political stage through great oratoryand promises. Economic times were tough, people were losing jobs, and he was a great speaker. And he smiled and waved a lot. And people, even newspapers, were afraid to speak out for fear that his 'brown shirts' would bully them into submission. And then, he was duly elected to office as full-throttled economic crisis was at hand [the Great Depression]. Slowly but surely he seized the controls of government power, department-by-department,person-by-person, bureaucracy-by-bureaucracy. The kids joined a Youth Movement in his name, where they were taught what to think. How did he get the people on his side? He did it promising jobs to the jobless, money to the moneyless, and goodies for the military-industrial complex. He did it by indoctrinating the children, advocating gun control, health care for all, better wages, better jobs, and promising to re-instill pride once again in their country, across Europe , and around the world.
He did it with a compliant media. Did you know that? And he did this all in the name of justice and ..... change. And the people surely got what they voted for. (Look it up if you think I am exaggerating.)
Read your history books. Many people objected in 1933 and were shouted down, called names, laughed at, and made fun of. When Winston Churchill pointed out the obvious in the late 1930s while seated in the House of Lords in England (he was not yet Prime Minister), he was booed into his seat and called a crazy troublemaker. He was right, though.
Don't forget that Germany was the most educated, cultured country in Europe It was full of music, art, museums, hospitals, laboratories, and universities. And in less than six years --- a shorter time span than just two terms of the U. S. presidency --- it was rounding up its own citizens, killing others, abrogating its laws, turning children against parents, and neighbors against neighbors. All with the best of intentions, of course. The road to hell is paved with them.
As a practical thinker, one not overly prone to emotional decisions, I have a choice: I can either believe what the objective pieces of evidence tell me (even if they make me cringe with disgust); I can believe what history is shouting to me from across the chasm of seven decades; or I can hope I am wrong by closing my eyes, having another latte, and ignoring what is transpiring around me.
Some people scoff at me, others laugh, or think I am foolish, naive, or both. Perhaps I am. But I have never been afraid to look people in the eye and tell them exactly what I believe, and why I believe it.
I pray I am wrong. Unfortunately, I do not think I am.
Jordan: Israel must choose integration, or isolation.King Abdullah urges US to fully back Palestinian statehood, says Jewish state can 'integrate into the region ... or remain fortress Israel, isolated, holding itself and the entire region hostage to continued confrontation'
"Every country, and perhaps the world, sees the United States as the key to peace in the Middle East ... tackling the issue head on is imperative."
US President Barack Obama has invited Arab and Israeli leaders to Washington next month and called for "good faith" gestures from all sides, including Israel, as he signaled he intends to make the peace process a priority.
"I cannot emphasize enough how important US partnership is to help Israel accept the opening the Arab world has offered," he said.
In an address to Turkey's parliament, Obama said "the United States strongly supports the goal of two states, Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace and security."
(I guess the US will be involved in this faux "Peace" deal in one way or another.)
I have been wanting to stock up on some food items that would: 1.) be nutritious 2.) be relatively inexpensive 3.) have a long shelf life
It seems that wheat berries meet the above criteria pretty well. I realize that a person needs calories from carbohydrates, protein, and fats. Additionally, we need vitamins, minerals, and fiber in our diet.
Wheat berries do contain all of the above items. Some wheat varieties have a higher protein content than others. Obviously, as Jesus said, man cannot live on bread alone. Wheat sure can help supply many of our nutritional needs though.
I found a number of places where wheat berries can be purchased online. In particular, I decided I wanted to purchase some "hard red wheat" in bulk. My preference was to purchase it in a sealed pale but I was open to buying it in a bag or sack if the price was much better.
I compared prices on various options from 7 different web sites. I dropped the info I gathered into a spreadsheet and added shipping costs into my calculations. Shipping and handling charges typically have a huge impact on the net price you will pay.
For what I was looking for, I found the best value at USA Emergency Supply. I bought a few other items from them as well.
Among the sites I checked, the net price per pound including shipping ranged from a high of $2.60 (for Hard Red Wheat in a Sealed Pail - 35 lbs) to a low of $0.88 (for 50 lbs. Hard Red Wheat in a double plastic bag). Prices very well may have changed since I checked these sites several weeks ago.
There's lots of good general information at many of these sites. Not surprisingly, many are based in Utah and Idaho.
My order came as promised yesterday. I have no vested interest in any of these businesses nor do I know any of the folks who own or run them. I just wanted to share this info for those who may be interested.
Here are the many of the sites I checked out that carried wheat berries in bulk.
I agree. That sort of thing does distract from honest conservatism. I have often wondered if opponents of conservatives do that kind of thing just to discredit the honest ones.
Miss California Carrie Prejean answered a question in the Miss USA contest. Asked if states should allow same-sex "marriage" she responded, "I believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman."
And for that, Hollywood and homosexual activists are viciously attacking her.
Her stand on marriage cost her the crown.
Perez Hilton, the judge and homosexual gossip columnist who asked the question, has called Carrie filthy names and posted a doctored pornographic picture of her on his website. Celebrity TV host Giuliana Rancic wrote "I know i'm [sic] a journalist, and i [sic] should be objective ... but she is an ignorant disgrace and she makes me sick to my stomach."
How has Carrie responded? With grace and love.
This 21-year-old Christian has not backed down and has not lost an opportunity to speak boldly of her faith.
Appearing on the Today Show, she said, "I was ready for my question, and when I heard it from (Perez), I knew at that moment after I'd answered the question, I knew that I was not going to win because of my answer. Because I had spoken from my heart, for my beliefs and for my God. ... It's not about being politically correct, for me, it's about being Biblically correct."
When asked on MSNBC about Perez's attacks, she stated, "I can only say to him that I will be praying for him. I feel sorry for him, I really do. I think he's angry, I think he's hurt."
Thrust into the red-hot glare of the spotlight, Carrie has not withered. She has become a young role model for those who desire to live out their Biblical beliefs and of what happens to those who dare to declare the truth that marriage is one man and one woman.
We are so proud of her. So we tracked down a way to send her e-mails of encouragement. It wasn't too hard for us because she attends San Diego Christian College a college that was founded by the husband of CWA's founder Beverly LaHaye.
Would you show your appreciation for Carrie Prejean and her bold stand for marriage and God? Send an e-mail to:
encouragecarrie@cwfa.org
and we'll get it to her.

Also, she is attends The Rock church here in San Diego. I haven't been to it but I hear it's a good one. She'll be speaking this Sunday but on the link is a survey questionaire on the subject.
Praise God, Praise God, Praise God! My daughter had her talk with the "important person" about her career choice (BTW, not a boyfriend) and he behaved himself beautifully, cheerfully giving his opinions and advice without being out of control overbearing. Still don't know if she is making the right choice, but it's her life to submit to God, not mine. Thank you all for your prayers!
"It is the grimmest of ironies that one of the most savage, barbaric acts of evil in history began in one of the most modernized societies of its time, where so many markers of human progress became tools of human depravity: science that can heal, used to kill; education that can enlighten, used to rationalize away basic moral impulses; the bureaucracy that sustains modern life, used as the machinery of mass death, a ruthless, chillingly efficient system where many were responsible for the killing, but few got actual blood on their hands." Barak Obama 4/23/09
Carrie Prejean was on the Dove Awards the other night. They gave her a spot making one of their announcements. When she was introduced, everyone stood up and gave her a standing ovation! It was a moving moment! Steven Curtis Chapman and his family were there too. He won artist of the year for his song "Cinderella." It is a song about his little girl that was run over, with the car his son was driving, and died. It was an accident in the driveway. They have been deeply struck by the loss of their little girl! I am sure the son is having to learn to live with tremendous guilt! It's a hard place to be. He sang the song on the show, and just closed his eyes at the end and wouldn't open them for several seconds. I imagine he was trying to hold back the tears. His wife was crying in the audience and members were patting her on the back trying to console her. The whole show was a very moving experience, unlike many we see in the secular world. In the secular world it is giving many thanks for their awards and credit to everyone who helped them. In the Dove Awards they were giving credit to G-d and Y'shua/Jesus for what They have done in their lives. Also, one said they were anxious to lay their award down at the feet of Jesus, along with their crowns! It was awesome! Please pray for a family I know in Tlaxcala Mexico. They are a husband, wife and two children. It is the Casal family. I have kept in touch with them for years and they flew up here to be with me in my wedding! They are strong believers! He expressed concern because his family use to walk in the evenings together and look at the stars. He said it is no longer safe to do so. That was the last email I received from him and I cannot get in touch with him anyway. Phone, email, and letters have not been answered. Now they have this influenza outbreak! I am very concerned for them! Please pray they will be safe and we will be back in touch soon! Does anyone have any idea who wrote the letter that was posted? It is sad it didn't carry the correct name. Whoever wrote it did a great job in articulating what I have been feeling. I have heard from several people that all of this is a created crisis. People who want the new world order are pulling the strings. They want everyone to think we are in a serious financial, famine crises, so they can get control of the money and push us into world government. Looks like it is working! Bill Cloud was told by someone he met that use to work on Wall Street to watch the banks. He said they have a plan to take over all of the banks, and condense them down to 4 major banks so they will control all of the money. I Corinthians 10:11 talks about the children of Israel in the wilderness being an example to us in these last days. I am believing that, as this new world order puts the screw to us, G-d will reveal Himself to us like He did the children of Israel! Yes, hard times are coming, but G-d is still on His throne and we will see Him manifest Himself! We do not have to fail! Praise G-d!
No, it's not! It's your responsibility, it's your duty, it's your RIGHT, to make sure she makes the right choices in her life. She deserves the rich wisdom you've gained through making mistakes, and it's only fair that you help her learn so she doesn't make those mistakes, too. Now, if you've been shirking your duties in this regard, you'll have to take things slowly. Start with little reminders of how much you love her by saying things like, "You're not wearing THAT [to work] [to church] [on your date], are you?" and "But you're so pretty! Why would you want to wear your hair like that?" She may resist at first, but soon she'll recognize the value of your experience and how you're keeping her from messing up her life. Besides, this will be excellent practice for when she has your grandchildren (after she drops that slacker of a boyfriend she was so enthusiastic about and marries that nice young man that you found for her), when she'll TRULY need your help in knowing when to feed them and how to dress them.
I read the link on food storage. Great link! I have been buying rice and different flavors of broth. I figured the broth would be a way to flavor the rice if you couldn't get meat! Anyway, we had a couple of families that had a crisis and we had to take them in ,so all of our stored food is gone and I have to start over. The advice given here is great! I am curious about the food storage itself. I have heard that you don't want to keep extra food in typical places, ie food pantry, closets, because there will be rioting and breaking into homes to find food supplies if it gets that bad. They say you need to find a way to hide it. I am concerned because one hiding place I could use is extremely hot. The other is ground level and I am concerned about insects having themselves a feast! Does anyone have any ideas? I know the Mormons have some wonderful ideas on food storage. They are told to stock up on a year's supply of everything. They date it and rotate it out so it stays fresh.
If you have a closet that you can do without, remove the door and build a bookshelf on wheels that locks into the wall under the bottom shelf so the hardware is not visible. Store food, instructions, Bibles inside.
Without going into great detail, but ours is done, works, but I cannot disclose it's location.
Jim G., Shalom! Here is a list of daily nutritional requirements. I put it together with my ex-wife when I was trying to get them stocked up on 30 days worth of food (per David Wilkerson). I know the formatting on this won't be perfect, but bear with me:
ONE SERVING OF: Bread = 1 slice or 1/2 cup of cooked cereal like oatmeal Vegetables = 1/2 Cup chopped veg Fruit = medium apple or orange, 1/2 C chopped fruit, or 3/4 C juice Milk = 1 C milk or 1.5 oz cheese Protein = 2-3oz meat, 1 egg, 1/2 C cooked beans, or 2 Tablespoons peanut butter
You'll also need a source of fat. Either olive oil or canola oil are recommended, since they contain Omega-3 fatty acids, but in a pinch Crisco will do.
DAILY NUTRITIONAL REQ. . . . MIN . RECOM B . 6 . . . 9 V . 3 . . . 4 F . 2 . . . 3 M . 2-3 . . 2-3 P . 1 . . . 2 Total Fat (grams) 53 . 73 Total Added Sugar (grams) 24 . 48 Total Calories . 1,600 . 2,200
Since milk doesn't keep unrefrigerated and unless you take special precautions you need to rotate your powdered milk fairly often, one thing I've put into my emergency food kit are pudding packs. One pudding pack will count for one serving of milk and also give you the recommended added sugar.
As for water, it's recommended to store 1 US Gallon (or 4 liters) of water per person per day for both drinking and cleaning. However, the belief that you need to drink 8 cups of water (or 2 liters) of water per day is a myth, since it doesn't take into account the water that is already in our food. Don't forget to reserve and drink the water used to package canned vegetables, for example. With this in mind (and if you can find some other source for "cleaning", i.e., diaper wipes) you can plan on that 1 gallon jug lasting about 3 days per person per day. However, if you drink caffeinated drinks such as coffee or tea, or if you drink alcohol, you have to add one cup water for each cup coffee or alcohol consumed.
With all this in mind I've got lots of canned fruits and veggies; lots of rice, oatmeal, and crackers; and lots of beans, peanut butter, tuna, and jerky set aside.
Christine, Shalom! You do NOT want to store any food where the temperature is above 80 degrees or below 40 degrees Fahrenheit on a regular basis. This rules out most garages. If the temperature is too high the food looses nutritional value; if it's too cold there's the danger of freezing. Basements can be good if you can keep the basement dry and at a fairly constant humidity. Store the food on pallets to keep them off the floor. (My ex-wife uses an old table that was sitting down there.) Put some d-Con rat poison and some ant traps under the pallet where they won't touch the food and where it's less likely any pets will get at it. I wrap my food in some form of plastic with some bay leaves next to the container. This will minimize (but not totally eliminate) intrusion by pests.
When I say that I "wrap my food in some form of plastic," usually that means I put the unopened food inside a plastic shopping bag, wrap the bag around the food, then seal it shut with the plastic tape that's used to wrap packages going through the post office. I put some masking tape on the package and write the name of the food, the date it was wrapped, and the "best by" date. This helps in rotating. Then I put the wrapped food in some kind of sealed or semi-sealed container, such as an under-the-bed box or a plastic set of drawers. If the pests can get through that, then they deserve the food!
There's a book published in the 80's called "The Construction Of Secret Hiding Places" that's available at that link as a PDF. Pretty basic stuff, but a good introduction, especially for the cost (free). You can look on Amazon -- I found another five or six books on the subject there. There's also a company online (can't find the URL now) that will create secret doors that are disguised as bookshelves, etc. These lead either into hidden closets or safe rooms. Because I live in an apartment I'm limited on the amount and location of hiding places available to me. You need to evaluate for yourself the actual danger posed by rioters, looters, etc. when deciding how much money you want to spend on hiding places.
<><
BTW, if you're buying rice, start buying cans of chili with beans. You can serve the chili over the rice; the beans and rice together make a complete protein. (Even better if you can throw some canned corn into the mix.) I used to buy a lot of spaghetti; now I'm buying more rice because it's more water-efficient to cook rice rather than boil water for pasta. See if you can buy a pressure cooker. It will cook foods using less water than regular cooking, and doesn't need electricity (like a microwave does).
Jim C you are too funny. I got quite a giggle out of your advice to Anne. Perhaps you should list writer on your resume. perhaps you should work on that book you've always wanted to write but never had the time
Lori where did you get the instructions? you didn't happen to put the clues in a certain relatives book did you? if not it would have been too appropriate
Jim G loved the food mistake storage list. I shall have to get the book she talked about. I would also add Bob's Red Mill to the list of places one can by wheat berries. in fact you can buy many different kinds of flours, spices, dried eggs etc from here. great source for gluten free products as well.
Oh, and be careful about using broth with rice. Yes, it's flavorful to cook with, but broth and bullion are VERY high in sodium (salt). It's going to increase the amount of water you'll need to drink, and can be VERY unhealthy for you if you eat it frequently. I just checked, and the bullion I have in my cupboard will provide (1 tsp making 1 Cup) over one-third of your daily sodium requirements. The chicken broth I have provides a little less than one-half the daily requirements!
Complete Protein combinations without meatprotein combos include Grains + Legumes Legumes + Seeds & Nuts Grains + Eggs or Dairy Products Legumes + Eggs or Dairy Products Seeds & Nuts + Eggs or Dairy Products
don't forget to stock up on first aid supplies-bandaids, tape, gauze pads and wraps, alcohol (although in a pinch any alcohol will do as opposed to rubbing alcohol) and hydrogen peroxide and personal items. I might add that some personal items make great dressing supplies as well and if you buy the thick no name pads much cheaper than buying the medical thick pads
laundry soap-probably liquid better than powder and bleach.
My word, you people are detailed & Jim C. w/all the calculated daily intake calculations! Geeezzzz
Man, I've just scrapped some stuff together & if it flies-it flies.
Some great tips though!
I wonder why the "Mormons" have promoted this food storage idea for all these years? How did it become part of their tradition? Have they been expecting something to happen @ some point?
Last week I saw two young Mormon boys going door to door in a neighborhood I was in & acknowledged them as I drove by. A couple blocks down from them I saw their bicycles leaning up against a post.
I placed one of my "End Time" booklets in each their helmets & wrote a little note in the front cover. Later, as I was driving back into that neighborhood to pick my daughter up I saw them just after the moment they discovered the booklets because they were looking at them & looking around as if to figure out who put them there.
I just grinned as I past them & started praying like crazy. Perhaps a seed was planted that day & God will water it over time.
My father-in-law and my husband created the bookshelf. He was a "de-coder" for the military, but has a degree in engineering. My husband used to created reproduction antiques. The shelf looks like a built-in. You'd never know it is a closet/safe room.
There is a book on the shelf for seekers, but I won't go into detail.
Let's just say that family members that have rejected Christ now, have been notified of a wonderful family book that will explain should their be a catastrope and cannot find us.
Inside the closet is also the instructions for the Zeer pot. A small crude refrigerator for about 1.75 cubic feet of 40 degree temps.
It requires two pots which are currently being used inside for decorative purposes, but all the instructions are inside the closet, with the food and medical supplies.
Lisa, you can thank my ex for the daily intake info. When I told her I was going to provide 30 days of food for three people, we had to sit down and figure out just how much food that actually comes down to. Let me tell you: it's a lot of food. It helps that all the canned goods list serving sizes using that schedule, so when it says it has about 3.5 servings in one can, you can just say, OK, that's one can for three people. It really hit me when I realized I might have to feed three people myself, instead of just me: I've got one daughter in the local university, and another that will start at the end of August. If the excrement hits the rotating device before the end of August, then it's my ex feeding my daughters. But if it hits after Aug. 20, then I can't count on the University feeding them, so I'll have to feed 3 people. So I've spent the last couple of weeks building up my own supplies.
Now my ex is wondering when they can start digging into those supplies. I've told her to wait until the end of September, then we'll see.
As for the Mormons keeping one year of food on hand, that comes from when they were forced to move from place to place, and when they had a few lean years after moving to Utah.
Jib, don't forget to pack the bleach! It has to be the regular bleach, with no scents or anything else added. Adding 16 drops (about 1/4 teaspoon) to one gallon of water will make it safe to drink. Add the bleach, close it up, shake the jug around, and let it sit for about 10 minutes. After that, smell the water. If you do NOT smell the bleach, then repeat. The process that bleach uses to purify water uses up the bleach. If you do NOT smell bleach at the end of the treatment, then all the bleach got used up before all the bad stuff was killed, so you need to repeat. When the treatment is over, you can seal up the jug and the water should be good for at least 6 months. If you want to drink the water, the bleach smell can be removed by pouring the water back and forth among two containers for a few minutes.
Rather than buy a bunch of bottles of rubbing alcohol, I bought some large bottles of the cheapest vodka I could find. It turned out to be less expensive than the rubbing alcohol and just as effective as cleaning/sterilizing wounds. Witch Hazel is good for stopping small wounds from bleeding. Add some tubes of generic antibiotic cream (at about $1 each), and you've got a good medical kit there.
Also, just in case, I bought a couple of large bottles of multivitamins.
JIM G, JIM C., JIB & LORI, Great information and I truly appreciate it. For my grandkids when they would visit me in Arkansas, I used the femine pads to bandage wounds and they worked great. Also, aloe vera is great on wounds and easy to grow in apartments JIM C. I used to have 3 of them in mine while I was single. Also, don't forget the old fashion way of canning your goods. At a lot of yard sales/garage sales around here, canners are a very frequent item for sell and most generally cost less than $5. Jars that you purchase spaghetti sauce in have sealable lids. Look for the 32 oz. size and buy new lids. I prefer the 2 piece units because it is easier to get a good seal. Too hot you say, to can. Go outside, use your grill and keep the heat constant and hot. Especially with the charcoal type. If you don't have a grill, make one using rocks in a circle, an old oven rack, and make a cover out of a metal can that is clean. Stay away from containers that have held chemicals of any kind. Or if you can't find a big can, make an aluminum tent around it with extra heavy duty wrap. Start using your camping skills and let your imagination run wild.
By the way, RAchel RAy has beef and chicken stock in waxed boxes in the soup section of Walmart, IGA, and I bet most of the other big stores. A serving size provides 20% of the daily requirement. Besides that it is very good. Or, get some cheap cuts of chicken parts, beef parts and throw in your veggies for seasoning, cook in a big stock pot and make your own stock. But I agree with Jim on the sodium big time. Just remember that the sodium in the food is going to require you to use more water than you rationed. Season with herbs and spices instead. You might even consider canning your soups because it doesn't require refrigeration to keep and they keep a long time. I would recommend that you keep the lids protected from damage and in case of our worst fears materializing, contamination from any source of attack. You might use paraffin on the top, kinda like the old jelly we used to make. Also, chocolate doesn't do so great in heat or cold, so nestle it in between other foods that maintain their normal temps. Like potatoes, carrots, turnips, cabbages, it will protect the more delicate items for a long time. Use your old quilts, pillows, sheets and other items that are good padding to give it some protection from the elements. Like the bay leaf suggestion and if you have some left over, add a smidge to your stock for soups.
This is the Old Prairie Warrior signing off and until the next time, keep up your faith and stand strong.
Take time to smell the roses while you are getting things ready for a down wind trial from DC.
BY THE WAY ANNE, I totally agree with what Jim C. told you about your territory as a mother. My beloved Mother never quit being my Mother and I never resented it one little bit. I depended on her to see the real picture and cut through the crap.
Lori, my only problem with a Zeer pot is that it requires evaporation to keep the food cool. The problem is that in Iowa in the summer, it's not unusual for the humidity to be between 85% and 90% for weeks on end. So during that time, it just might not work. I'll have to put one together and run some tests.
Jim, I agree with you on the humidity, but Florida summers can get very dry, although it would be more effective in Arizona...
Filtering water thru several layers of fabric can remove impurities and bacteria. It sounds bizarre, but the families in India who filter their water thru 3 or more saris are less likely to suffer bacterial infections from contaminated water.
I have a massive canner as well as two sizes of cast iron dutch ovens with flat lids for baking. Both are very large. The temperatures can be controlled by how many coals are placed on the lids. It's really amazing to me, growing up with all these modern conveniences and all... lol
There's a great book by Reader's Digest called Back To Basics. It's a hardcover for around $16 and worth every penny. You'll learn how to build, plant, harvest, can, hunt, clean carcasses, make soap and a lot more.
RE: Rachel Ray's stock/broth: Sodium content is 20% of daily requirements. Adding more liquid lessens that by bunches.
THUUNDA, I love that song too and have it on "Selah" CD. I want you all to know that all night long I was singing the Hallelujah song, imagining I was there in Rome with Il Diva. I even woke up this morning with it on my tongue. DH is really tired of hearing it but that's is a little less than Too BAD!
I have always said that I wanted to depart this earth with Hallelujah on my lips singing it to the most wonderful father in the world, creation and beyond what we can grasp with our infant minds. ABBA!
Just wanted to share with you all a litte thrill that I experienced last night. I turned on the deck light and a flying squirrel was in the platform bird feeder, just stuffing himself. It is rare to see one, because they're nocturnal, and my first time. What a treat! After about 10 minutes, I must have spooked him, because he glided to a nearby tree. Hope he returns!
Reading all your posts about storing food and safe rooms, etc.
I agree that we should be prepared for disasters, etc., but remember that when the Tribulation comes, God is our hiding place. He will protect us if we are faithful. And don't forget that he provided manna for the children of Israel when they wandered in the desert. He provided water, too. So never fear...God will provide.
"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
"I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
"Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
"He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
"Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
"Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
"A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee." (Psalm 91:1-7)
Remember, it doesn't say "God helps those who help themselves"...but we do need to make Him our habitation (verse 9)and call on Him (verse 15).
It should be cotton, preferably cotton that's been washed and dried multiple times, like an old T-shirt. Cut a long strip and fold it so that there are 4 to 8 layers; or cut 4 smaller squares and layer them. Pouring the water through this should filter out 99% of parasites.
You can only use this filter once. After each use, the cotton should be boiled for 20 minutes and then air dried, preferably in bright sunshine (the UV will help kill any pathogens.) (If there is insufficient fuel to boil water then the cloth should be thoroughly rinsed then air dried.) The water that's been filtered should still be treated with bleach or with bleach and boiling (depending on its initial quality) before drinking or cooking with it.
If you want to create an even more effective filter, get some charcoal, either using a briquette or charred wood. Crush the charcoal so that it's mostly pellet-sized but not so much that it is a powder. Using an 8-layer cotton filter, place the charcoal (at least an inch thick) in the middle of the pile of cloth. You now have a home-made charcoal water filter. You should change the cloth every week or so (I can't find any more definite information than that); the charcoal should be good for a month or two.
Depending on how much work you want to do, an extremely effective home-made filter can be made by getting a section of pipe at least 2 inches in diameter. Put the charcoal in a sandwich of 4 layers of cotton cloth and stuff the sandwich into the pipe. Fill each side of the pipe with CLEAN sand, then use the rest of the cotton cloth to seal in the sand on either end. Unless you're using REALLY dirty water, you should be able to drink the water from this without any further treatment. This should last about 2 months before you would need to replace the sand, cotton, and charcoal.
Michigander, I loved the flying squirrel story. I've never seen one :(
I also agree with you about the Lord taking care of us. Some great Scriptures!
However, we need to act upon the leading of the Holy Spirit. Even David Wilkerson said, that he didn't feel everyone would sense the need to store extra things. I've always had back ups, and I've gone a little bit beyond that now. But, I must admit, that is about all I sense the Holy Spirit leading me to do at the present time.
Hats off to the Scouts, though :) Always be prepared, and such, right?
Jim C. :-) Thanks for the advice, but my daughter is a responsible adult, not a teenager. The important person in her life is not a boyfriend (as I indicated in my last comment). By the time I was her age I was on my third house and second child, but I hadn't lived yet on three continents, traveled to developing countries, nor did I have a college degree and several years of work experience. I had not been a committed Believer for more than 15 years. Yes, it's true, I will always be her mother and I'm happy, no delighted that she cherishes and seeks out my advice. But, by this time I am giving her my advice and not my orders. In fact, I seek her advice on issues, too. And I still hold to this: It is her life to give to God, not mine.
Anne, Amen! After raising four sons, I agree. You just can't live someone else's life. Period. In fact, if you go too far, you drive them away from you. There's a "happy medium" to most everything. Not everything, granted. Just most :)
Michigander, what a privilege! I've never seen one. If you continue to keep the feeder full, he'll probably return on a regular basis. I hope you catch him on film.
I also appreciate the scriptures on provision. Some of us who are storing, feel we are doing it for someone other than ourselves.
A man in my email flash approached me and told me he was having a re-occurring dream. He said I was going to think he was crazy, but he told me his dream. I've also been having a re-occurring dream and my dream starts where his ends. The same people are in the dream and it is at the same location.
Wow! What do you make of that? It makes me wonder if someone else has the remainder of the dream.
BTW, here's a link Basic Survival Rain Water Filter System that talks about NOT using barbecue pit charcoal, only granulated activated carbon, which you get from an aquarium store. The activated charcoal is better; I'm describing something you can make with stuff you have around the house.
Coming Swine flu -from a prophetic standpoint. I like the middle of the paragraph where it talks about in times of disaster people turning to the church for help and the number than came to Christ because of that. Let us all realize that we may be the feeders of the neighborhood.
Lori at what point humidity does the Zeer not work? we do get some humidity in the summer but generally only about 60% or so
just read on the drudge report that BOO was greeted by a man who died from the swine flu a few days later. I suggest we be in earnest prayer for our President
OK. I lost my post, so I am trying again. First of all, thanks for all of the advice on storing and hiding food! I am planning on copying and printing all of it! As for how much to store, I have prayed about it,and feel that I need to do what I CAN. Joseph was forewarned about calamity coming and he prepared. However, my preparations are not my life. I know that G-d is my provider and that He will take up where my preparations fail. He also said in His word that when calamity comes not to return to your house, even for your coat! If I am away from my house when calamity falls, or if I have to flee my house, I am not going back for provisions. I am going to do like the good Lord said and flee! Thuunda, you always come up with good music! I meant to tell you the Hallelujah song had some beautiful harmony with the young men singing. I just got busy talking and forgot! The squirrel will be back! He's found some free food! Next time, be ready with a camera so we can see it! My husband loves a couple of yellow finches that have decided to make our backyard their home in the spring. He goes every year and buys a special hanging sock with nuts on it that is just for them! I bought him some binoculars so he can watch them! He absolutely loves them! Lisa, I am with you on the manna! I was on PalTalk and we were discussing Elijah eating honey and locusts. We were trying to figure out if it was the tree locusts or insect locusts. No one really knew except that insect locusts are kosher, except their heads and legs because those have parasites! EEEEWWWWW!!!! Are they serious? If I have to depend on that then I will be right there with you praying for the manna! LOL! Banana nut bread? That's one of my favorites! Any chance you can blog some my way?
I read the story about the pandemic. It was really good and I marked it so I can hear what Hal Lindsey had to say. I also looked at the story about Obama's painting that will be revealed on his 100th day. That is some spooky stuff! I wouldn't want anyone to paint or replicate anything like that for me! I would be afraid of being struck by a lightning bolt!
DO NOT STORE unless God tells you to. Not everyone is called to do this as we have found out. I have friends that were told and others that get a red light when they talk about it.
In my dream, members of my church family and myself are on a bus and it pulls up to Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter FL, where we are told by armed guards to go inside for processing. We go inside and there are hundreds of other believers there.
What's weird is that in a situation like that where we should be upset and crying, everyone is calm and we have an amazing peace about us.
My friend, Pete's dream begins with our church family leaving the sanctuary only to be met by armed guards who usher us onto a bus. He remembers seeing each face and also mentioned the calm and peace that had overcome us all. The church members are driven somewhere closeby but he didn't know where. This is where my dream begins.
Christine, I love those little goldfinches, too! And I will try to get a picture of the little flying squirrel.
As far as stocking food, I just came across these verses that I think are appropriate to the conversation (Matt. 5:25-34)...
(Jesus said) "Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
"Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
"Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
"And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
"And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
"Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
"Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
"For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
"Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof."
I just think it's important in these days, when men's hearts are failing them for fear, to remember Jesus' promises.
God will take care of us is we seek God's kingdom first!
May the peace of God keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
"I suggest we be in earnest prayer for our President"
Do I have to pray he doesn't contact the Swine flu? It may end up a prayer in the flesh after I just saw the latest Obama crown of thorn painting.
I honestly don't think I've matured enough in my spiritual walk to sincerely wish he didn't come down w/the swine flu. Now I don't wish for his death but a little grunting & snorting around would probably do him some good.
MICHIGANDER, We always have extra food staples on hand and have since I was a little girl helping to preserve food back in the 40's. We canned mostly by we also dehydrated foods so we would have adequate food for winter and during stormy season. That was one of the reasons for raising gardens, having fruit trees and raising chickens, pigs, cows and other fowls. My Abba made it possible to plant, water, tend and harvest the foods and that is what the Feasts are all about also. So, as Joseph was told in a dream to store up the food in Egypt prior to a famine, we can and will provide food for all those that are close at hand. My food supplies a few years back were greatly appreciated in New Orleans area after Katrina. If God doesn't prompt you to do it, then don't but most of us have felt the need long before The Cave was started. We were discussing it on Joel's site way back in 2007. But it isn't out of fear or dread; it is just a matter of being obedient to the leading of the Holy Spirit. If you have need of emergency supplies in Michigan where you live, there are probably Christians who have been commissioned to lay up surplus supplies for such a time as this.
We have had a beautiful day today and there is the nicest breeze out of the south drifting into my kitchen window. The smell of Jasmine is in the air and the Belle da Noche is starting to bloom also. We have some at our Western window and it is wonderful. Kinda reminds me of Frankincense/myrrh in Israel.
Anyway, I didn't want our friend in Michigan worrying about our food storage talk. If we are out of here by the power of Almighty God, then there will be plenty of food supplies for those not taking the Mark of the Beast. Assuming it doesn't get destroyed for some reason.
Good night everyone and have a wonderful Lord's Day tomorrow.
Lisa yes we do have to pray for his safety and health although I did get quite a chuckle out of your snorting comment. since pigs are halal for muslims
about the painting. I don't imagine he posed for it anymore than Elvis posed for the velvet paintings however it would be good and appropriate and all that kind of stuff if he'd come out against these kinds of paintings but he doesn't. in fact he does seem to encourage them doesn't he. makes me think of something Beck always says-when outrageous things are happening in one area what is going on elsewhere that they don't want you to see. right now Satan has our outrage and whispers about BOO being the AC focused on BOO. may be we should be looking for the other hand.
Lori creepy dream. did you know about his dream before you had yours? if not would seem reasonable to me to consider the dream a message or warning. I do like however the fact that you all were obviously at peace. do you get a sense of time with the dream?
Grany did you ever tell us the last part of your dream?
I found it. Hector posted the dream but it was a friend of his who had the dream:
a Christian friend of mine once had a dream, (in the 80s) and it has stuck in my mind-
in this dream, he said that he was trying to go to church, but all the churches had been closed down, and he could hear people calling out to him- and he saw there was a train sitting on the tracks, full of people- people were loaded on cattle cars, and they were calling him to hurry up and get on board- but before he could get on board, the train took off so fast, as to defy all natural explanation… but he said that as the train went past him, the people were still trying to get him onboard, calling to him, and reaching out their hands from between the boards on the cattle cars… they were telling him: “cmon cmon! get onboard! its time to get saved!”
but he missed the train, and it was gone in a twinkling of an eye… im not sure how bad things will get here in the US in regards to persecution, but yeah, cattle cars are very reminiscent of nazi germany… (this was waaay before i had heard anything about fema cattle cars)
like wilkerson said, were gonna have to walk through the fire—
i try and prepare for the worst, but pray for the best…
Hi all. juat stopping in to say "hi". I have to admit, I am freaking out a little tonight. I do know that the Lord has not given me a spirit of fear but right now I am fearful, and that is highly unusual for me. Tonight was so sweet. My 12 year old daughter sang a lovely song in a talent show at school. She is so beautiful abd brave. My two little boys enjoy wandering through the cemetery with me. My 5 year old is just starting to try to grasp that people die and that we are both body and spirit and that the Lord is one God but in three. We talk about God and life and death as we wander amongst the grave stones. It is very sweet and peaceful. My 14 year old daughter does not have a clue as to what she wants to be when she grows up. Right now I feel like it will not be the normal life for her as we pictured it. I cling to my Lord tonight as I am sad. Oh, how I long to see Him put everything right but do not want to see what will happen here before that time. Please say a prayer for me tonight. Praying for all of you here, dear ones. Diana
The virus is an influenza A virus, carrying the designation H1N1. It contains DNA from avian, swine and human viruses, including elements from European and Asian swine viruses, the CDC has said. [nN23355101]
It first looked mostly like a swine virus but closer analysis showed it is a never-before-seen mixture of swine, human and avian viruses, according to the CDC. [nN24420522].
(Humm? Something released that was genetically tapered with?)
Lisa, do you have a link for that blog? I wasn't aware of that dream.
Since I told Pete about my dream, I haven't had it since.
There was no fear... We were resolute.
Remember the Christians in Indonesia who wanted to celebrate Christmas? The Islamic authorities told them they could only celebrate on top of a specific mountain.
What may have been construed as affliction, saved their lives. No others from their village were saved from the tsunamis, Christians only.
Diana, praying for you and your children. I wouldv'e never guessed my daughter would be serving the Lord like she is now, 5 years ago. Cling to His promises for your family as we lift you up in prayer.
"During a major pandemic, many ordinary people will find themselves responsible for providing medical care to loved ones and friends. Under ususal circumstances patients this sick would be hospitalized - but during a major pandemic, that option is not likely to be available. To assist you in this heroic lifesaving task, I have included advice on how to provide home care to very sick or even dying influenza patients."
This is from the Prophezine site. I plan to print it out in case we lose power (can't read it online) and someone in my household needs to care for a flu victim.
Jib, would you mind giving your opinion on the advice this doc is giving, especially about the prescription drugs to have on hand on page 17.
Anne I'll look at it if I can today but may not be able to. I downloaded it to the desktop yesterday but hadn't had a chance to look at it. (we have church related activities today) Scott might be the better one to comment on the meds listed since I get the impression he is family practice or similar. I know meds exist for viral type illness but I don't have a clue how effective they'd be for the flu because unless we can cut it out I'm not much use :-)
Prayer request my dad was admitted in the wee hours of the morning with chest pain and is on a nitro drip right now. the chest pain is starting up again a little. the cardiologist has not seen him yet. they are not at the hospital where his own cardiologist goes to since their friend just had such a bad experience there. he does have heart disease but it has been stable for years. pray for his healing.
also-since my mom is the care provider for my brothers kids and actually transports one of them to his school pray also for my brother and sister in law-that they can find someone to take care of their kids.
I've printed that link and maybe the Lord leads me to help them in a way...if I can...you never know. And thanks!
Grany,
You know, I also turned the Hallelujah song into a praise song...even with my own words. The thing about that song is that it sorta sticks in your mind...that's why you wake up with in your head, which is a good thing if it's a praise song!
I've also taking your challenge for South Africa. Pray that God gives me wisdom (and courage I daresay) that he can reach people through me...
I'm glad some people are liking some of the music...I'll post some more for those that would like to listen to my taste lol, which is much different than many other people's I know.
This one is heart-rending and I'm sure everyone is familiar with it as it comes out of the movie "Schindler's List".
Schindler's ListHopefully not too depressing, but unfortunately that's the mood it sets for the movie...but whatever your opinion, that lady can operate that violen!!!
JIB, just got back home and I am praying for your parents. And for you too sis.
THUUNDA, You can make a big difference in this world, one step at a time and as you go, God will cause the increase. Never despise small beginnings as they soon become a big harvest. I am praying for you to step out and up in faith, believing that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. I love the song from Schindler's list. I used to play classical violin in a wonder community symphony orchestra and that kind of music is really my choice. I haven't played the violin for over 30 years but that composition almost made me find my violin and get back into the practice of worshiping God with it. But right now it would sound more like a cow crying for her calf. Not good!
I will keep all of your requests in my prayers. We are definitely living in hard times. Pray for me also. I have been taking the flu vaccine. If I get the flu, I end up in the hospital sucking on IV's. This year I did not get the vaccine and I have been blessed that I haven't had the flu. Just pray that my family and I don't get it. As for the dreams, they definitely get your attention! It is amazing how well they fit together! Seems like the Lord is definitely trying to warn us! We just have to trust Him. As for storing food, no amount of food or water we store will get us through what is coming, if the Lord tarries. It may help, and you may be able to minister to others in need, but in the end, we will have to depend on Him. I expect if I Corinthians 10:11 is true, and we know it is, and if we are here, we may get to see the manna from heaven! That will be truly wonderful! Thuunda, thanks for thinking about these people. I am so struck by their situation and feel so helpless here. Everything we can send is so expensive! It would be far better to find someone already there to help. I am researching charities here in the U.S. that will help. I don't want one that won't take the gospel in with them!
a quick update-the cardiac cath shows progression of his disease but it isn't considered medically significant disease. they will be doing an ultrasound of his abdomen to make sure it isn't his gallbladder and it looks like he will tentatively be discharged tomorrow. my sister in law was able to go into work today by special arrangement so she can take the day off tomorrow and not get docked for pay.
regarding the drugs-reasonable enough although I would wait until needed or until it hits if it hits where you live. consider getting some suppositories as opposed to pills if diarrhea isn't an issue (they are pricey and require refrigeration however)
one of the fine print things is that you shouldn't treat a temp between 99-101 (very true)since that is actually helpful and is the bodies defense mechanism for killing both bacteria and viruses.
the only thing I would disagree with is the step 5 of the dietary program. if you have someone who has had severe diarrhea for a few days for any reason do not give them any dairy products for about 4- 6 weeks. the lactase enzyme that digests the lactose sugar molecule is the last one to return and introduction of dairy products before it returns can cause the diarrhea to come back or worsen.
I would consider investing in a tested probiotic such as vsl3 also (here). pricey but has the science to back up it's efficacy although using after severe diarrhea (flu, infectious irritation of the colon) is an off label use at this time (it does however work quite well-1 dose/day). FYI a study was done by an Eastern university to id and quantify the type and amount of bacteria sold as lactobacillus/acidophillus and found that many did not have tested bacteria in them and most did not have the quantity advertised (there are some bacteria sold as good bacteria that have not been tested in relation to GI health and efficacy) so be careful what you buy even from the health food stores
also consider freezing the oral rehydration solution into Popsicles if you can for a change of pace. we used a similar formulation when I did a rotation in Bangladesh as a student for babies with tetanus, patient's with severe diarrhea and it works quite well.
also if you want to be really exact/compulsive (I was going to say anal-ha!) getting something to measure all bodily outputs regardless of source would be advisable. fyi bare minimum urine output per day is about 3.5 cups (roughly) daily. that might fall under the heading of tmi though. :-)
Thanks, Jib, I will print out your comments and keep with the article. When we travel to Africa we use Culturelle. I'll take a look at the VSL#3. I'm sure I will not be able to get a supply of Tamiflu, though it would be nice to have on hand!
Hi all, Been reading the comments and wanted to confirm what jib said about dairy. When the kids were 18m old, they all got a bug which caused alot of diarrhea. It passed quickly enough, but the ensuing diaper rash was horrible and last for weeks. I had to stop all dairy for about a month until their systems got back to processing the enzymes. L's rash was so bad that it actually bled. The pedi put them on the BRAT diet and that helped, but every time I tried dairy, it started up again.
JIB, great advice and one other thing about diarrhea, when DH was having such a rough time after returning from Yucatan area, our physician recommended aspirin enema to stop the diarrhea after having it for over 2 weeks. Sounds very painful but it worked.
LISA, Great link to Silence of the Lambs. Another enemy attack is from "believers" who have no revelation of what God's word really says and are limited by religious beliefs. What do I mean. Well, I will use my own experience to explain it. My mother and I were heading north out of Oklahoma on US Hwy 59. We were passing through a little break water town, speed limit 60 mph and suddenly I heard within me "Take your foot off of the accelerator, now" I did just that and within a matter of a few seconds a little red Toyota pickup (back in the early 80's) came sailing around a 75 degree curve, lost control and came across our lane, flew over an embankment and flipped over on it's top. I was only going about 50 mph at the time I heard that command but I did it immediately. I knew it was the voice of the Holy Spirit, had no doubts of any kind that it was and obeyed without questions being asked. When I tried to relate it to my church group, they made fun of it and me, saying it was just common sense.
That, my friend, is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. My common sense was to accelerate to 60 mph, take that curve and get going on our long trip northward. I have gone through that little town many, many times both before and after that event. Each time I have accelerated and maintained the 60 mph speed limit. Common sense had nothing to do with it. Common sense tells me to get going on a 12 hour trip to make our way before dark sets in on northern Missouri rural roads. So, within the the church settings, there are enemies who would devalue and put to no purpose, God's True Words. Watered down religion will not get us through the coming days. Only the Rhema Word will. We better all know what "Thus saith the Lord" really means and is. If God's Word doesn't say, don't believe it. Man's imagination took the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. You know the rest of the story.
Gotta go, storms are coming but we have an appointment we have to keep today. Love you and see you at the Cafe Latte.
My daughter is learning about the 12 Tribes if Israel in her Bible Study book so & I ran across The Emblems of the 12 Tribes of Israel which you may find interesting.
I forgot who says this but one of the Bible Prophecy scholar's motto is: to be like the "Sons of Issachar understanding the times." Hey-Isn't that Joel Rosenburg?
Here is something to think about-the 12 Tribes or Israel-the 12 Apostles & the 24 Elders in the book of Revelation. (Also the tribe on "Dan" is not mentioned in the 144,000.**Curious the tribal symbol is a snake.)
(Personally I don't think the "24 Elders" represent the general "Church" in heaven but rather they are literally 24 God appointed Elders. And some day we'll find out for sure- Hopefully real soon!)
Urgent Alert! Act today to stop back-door government health care takeover!
You may have already seen the media reports that the budget is a done deal, and health care reconciliation is included. They are wrong. It is not yet a done deal, and we need you to ACT TODAY to stop it. Democratic leadership has agreed, but the actual conference report is not written by leadership, but by the specific conferees on the conference committee:
HouseJohn Spratt (D-S.C.) Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) Allen Boyd (D-Fla.) Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas)
If your senator or representative is on the committee, it is imperative that you send them a message today urging them to keep health care out of reconciliation. They are meeting THIS AFTERNOON, so time is of the essence. By far the most important two are Kent Conrad and Allen Boyd, Democrats who have been skeptical about using reconciliation.
If you know anyone in North Dakota or Florida's second district (Tallahassee, Panama City) please forward them this urgent email immediately!
Reconciliation is a trick, a procedure designed for deficit reduction being misused to jam through a government takeover of health care with only 20 hours of debate, no amendments, and just 50 votes instead of the usual 60. This trick will silence Republicans and centrist Democrats, and allow a radical leftist plan in which government takes away control of health care from patients and doctors, and rations care by denying it to people judged by bureaucrats to be too old or too sick to justify the cost. For more explanation, listen to my podcast on this: http://kerpen.hipcast.com/rss/kerpencast.xml
"I'm scared," said Sarai Luna Pajas, a 22-year-old social services worker standing outside her office building moments after it hit. "We Mexicans are not used to living with so much fear, but all that is happening—the economic crisis, the illnesses and now this—it feels like the Apocalypse."
Co-worker Harold Gutierrez, 21, said the country was taking comfort from its religious faith, but he too was gripped by the sensation that the world might be coming to an end.
"If it, it is God's plan," he said, speaking over a green mask used to ward off swine flu.
And they ain't seen nothin yet-these are just the Birth Pangs. I think I'm starting to understand what persevering entails. My head is thumping & my eyes feel like they are ready to roll out of their sockets. My dumb(or smart) cat keeps waking me up @ the crack of dawn & with keeping in line w/the sons of Issacar & realizing the days in which we live- it gets to be quite burdensome @ times. (**No more complaining-better counteract that w/praising!)
Pretty darn amazing that Mexico City has been hit with an earthquake now. Drug cartels, economic crisis, flu, now earthquake. Yea, only the beginning.
The Lord is teaching me how to cultivate the ground and to garden. It is raining today so I can't do much. i have never gardened before and it is a running joke in the family that I kill plants. I think that is about to change thanks to the Lord. :)
actually I think it was Glen Beck and our own state department had issued a warning about Mexico being the second most dangerous place to visit right now-right after Pakistan!
Nate glad to see you. how's the back?
update on my dad he is being released this afternoon. no cause of pain found-perhaps it really was food poisoning.
Shalom, all! I keep thinking about something I posted from Mark Mallett's web site some time ago, where a priest friend of his was having dreams with St. Teresa of Lisieux (aka, "The Little Flower"), where they were walking to his church. She could enter, but he could not. She warned him that the time was coming like it came to her country (the French Revolution) where the churches would be closed and people could not enter. I don't know how many of you remember a time before the polio vaccines came out. I know about it because my Dad was a doctor during that time and I heard the stories. Polio is very contagious. When there was a polio outbreak in a city or town, the household (and possibly, depending on the circumstances, the entire apartment building) would be quarantined by the county health department; and all places of public assembly such as swimming pools, theaters, AND CHURCHES, would be closed for the duration of the outbreak as a way to minimize the spread of the disease.
With Mexico being hit with disaster and pestilence, it reminds me of something I read a few weeks ago, about how the drug cartels are worshiping something called "Saint Death". It's used to bring death to their enemies and to protect them in their business.
Also, a few days ago I posted some instructions on creating a water filter using ordinary charcoal briquettes. THOSE INSTRUCTIONS WERE WRONG! DO NOT USE BRIQUETTES WITHOUT TREATING THEM! If you are in a crunch, use charred wood from a fire to create the filter. Charcoal briquettes that are sold in America and Canada are treated with binders, etc. If you use a briquette these chemicals will leach into the resulting filtered water. You should use activated charcoal, which can be found at aquarium supply stores. Make sure you get the stuff that doesn't have any additives. If necessary, you CAN use the briquettes to make activated charcoal, but only after burning them (don't use lighter fluid to start them, and DO NOT use the self-lighting charcoal -- LMK if you need instructions on how to light charcoal without lighter fluid). Use a couple of pounds of briquettes -- you can save what you don't use -- and burn them until EVERY briquette is coated on all sides with grey ash. This means you're going to have to turn the briquettes so every piece is burned on all sides. Once that is done you can put out the fire: pick up each peice one by one, dip in water very quickly, then let air-dry overnight; or if possible put in a sealed container until it burns out from lack of oxygen. After the charcoal is cool, then you can crush the remains to get your activated charcoal for your filter. This may or may not be truly activated charcoal, but it's better than nothing.
LORI, Thank you for listing the link to Craig's tribute. I will be seeing his father and grandparents(my cousin is Craig's grandfather)on Friday. From the time Craig was very little, he had a light that make the darkness disappear and I feel such remorse over the years I missed out on. I had no idea he had been placed in Foster Care and it makes me angry just trying to grasp the whole thing. There is no real excuse for it but at least His life counted for something. I promise, I will never allow that sort of thing to happen again if I can help it. I will hold grandpa's feet to the fire when I see him. No excuses either. Yes, I know there is grief but there is also responsibility involved. We aren't supposed to just make babies; we have a responsibility to be parents all the way through. Grand parents included.
Well, I have to get busy or I won't get everything done before the next wave of storms tries to bat it's head against the protection of God for our community. Another one of those times came about this morning and we didn't get the Big T. It fell apart again. Yippeeee!
Hilton Sutton World Ministries & the Issachar Team 1 Chron. 12:32
The Issachar Team is the core strength & support of this ministry. If there ever was a day to be about the Lord's business before He returns it is now.
(copied from Hilton Sutton's 60th Ministry anniversary magazine.) Kinda cool. 60 years in ministry!
Lisa, I'm so glad you posted the emblems of the 12 tribes. We have a woman in the UGS class that is so curious about the emblems/markers and I honestly didn't know what to call them or how to search for them either.
"Also Saturday, the Mexican government gave itself extraordinary powers to quarantine and forcibly treat infected people and to search homes and intercept suspected flu sufferers on public transport." LA TIMESAlso, I've been reading "Do Not" get any "preventative" flu shot for this swine virus. Has a Govt. ever rounded people up & forced them to get shots in a pandemic outbreak situation?
I told the kids to wash their hands more & don't stick their fingers in their mouth or nose because of a flu going around. On the way back from the store I look in my rear view mirror & Lorraine has her finger rooting around in her mouth. So then I mention the "Swine" flu as reasoning to really listen to mom & turn up the Worship songs. Melanie is singing away w/me & I notice the entire ride Lorraine doesn't say a word.
When we come to a stop light I turn around & ask her why she isn't singing Praises to the Lord w/us and all I get is- Humm,Hummm-Hum-Hum-Hum. I ask her if something is in her mouth to which she shakes her head yes.
I figure she has some flem so I pull over to the side of the road so she can open the door & spit it out.(no tissues in the car.) So she spits & says that now the germs are all gone.-kids!
Diana,
We have two mischievous cats. One fluffy Main Coon-Duchess & one 1/2 feral runt-Pip Squeak. If they are in the bedroom they start scratching on furniture to wake me up-for food. If the Main Coon sees a glass of water-she will knock it over first before she drinks it. (D.H. always has one on his night stand. I have a bottle w/lid.) We try to lock them out but they manage to get in one way or another. Either they hide out & we accidentally lock them in our room or the girls end up opening up our door & let them in. Pip-Squeak is in love w/me & makes D.H. jealous. The problem is that he stretches his paw out to touch my cheek (how sweet) but then extends his claws out in a kneading fashion-which pricks me. Who needs to spend $$ on derma-abrasion when I have a cat like that!

And just for good measure.
Third!!
This is my best performance yet! ;)
Jeri, how did the voting go down in the EC?
Oh, my DF!
I can't believe you posted that Lifehouse video!!!
I was just thinking to do that a few days ago.
2 peas, one pod
;-)
Great posts! Just what I needed to hear! Thanks for the extra prayers Anne! :)
Talk with you all soon!
<><
Hi Mac,
All fine, wife's cancer under control and her spiritual walk is growing by day, thanks to God!
Thuunda - All seems ok in PE area, it is just the rural areas and Transkei where there could be problems. How is yours?
Grany - love your sayings!
Alesia - better get that pod done under!!!!!
Alesia,
Sorry that should be "down" under. Coz that is where DF is.......
yest they really do need to be on the same continent!
Mac
so does Alesia acknowledging you publicly as DF means she finally said yes or she's just finally saying so in public??? I'm nosy
<><
Jib, I'm nosy, too! Waiting impatiently for his answer...
Donna, you are welcome. I thank God that we don't have to know details to pray for each other.
Anne
sometimes decisions although they don't seem to be for the best end up being that way
Mac
the Revelation song was amazing
Grany/Lori
don't remember which of you posted the evolution of dance but that was truly hilarious!
Grany
DH and I took ballroom dance for awhile. our best dances were the foxtrot and the rumba although we also liked the cha cha. one of the few shows I make sure to record or watch is dancing with the stars. it started off with I'm doing this to humor you and surprise you because I love you but when we went to a reception and we weren't the best dancers or showiest dancers there he bought more lessons! it was the first time I saw just how competitive my silent husband could really be. truly funny.
interesting Jerry Golden's webpage does not seem to be coming up
Lisa
you know I had a chance to scan briefly the post from JRed and what is interesting is that I've intermittently thought that the Rapture would happen around the time of the Ascension. He makes some good points about Pentecost being a reasonable time for the Rapture as well.

(Ephesians 2:6)
Joined By One Spirit:
But he that is joined unto the Lord is one Spirit. (1 Corinthians 6:17)
Christ Unto Me:
But of him are ye IN CHRIST Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption. (1 Corinthians 1:30)
Christ Lives In Me:
Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his Saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is CHRIST IN you, the hope of glory: Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect IN CHRIST Jesus. (Colossians 1:26-28)
God In Me:
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be IN YOU.
17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: by using my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18they will pick up snakes in their hands, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.’
19 So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.
Off of soup can and back to work in my kitchen,
Grany
Jib, re: Jerry Golden's website, if you enter http://thegoldenreport.com, you can access the home page with no problems. If you enter http://www.thegoldenreport.com, you get sent to a template that was used to create the web page.
The problem is that all the links on the home page use the "www" as part of the link, so all the links are broken.
I've sent an email to Mr. Golden letting him know what's happening. What you'll have to do is when you click on a link, wait for the web page to fail, then go to the address bar and take the "www." out of the URL, then try again.
<><
I just now got back into my email account. Me and the Fox are working on the problem. You know how desperate a shape it is when Fox has to have me helping them. LOL ~~@;o}
Oh, yeah!

Grany,
Good preaching! Amen!

What a beautiful opportunity!
hyde, I saved the links! I may put the Jesus Drama on one of my profiles! It's really good!
Christine, I know you asked Lori, but since I'm here and able...
Unlocking God's Secrets.
We take turns napping now! hehehehehe

Hey all,
The comment on prayer not having to be specific to be effective prompts me...
In His Grip,
Scott
<><
JIM Carroll, I don't believe in luck but I do believe in God's putting you in favor according to His high calling. You go to that Fair and I asking God to send His divine favor before you and the person/company/group that is looking just for your particular expertise will be there, brought directly to you and that you will shine light the lights of heaven in their opinion and selection.
How's that for favor? Praying for you.
SCOTT, I have 2 very special former missionaries that are associated with Wycliffe and they too were forced to leave the country (Columbia) that they were serving in when things became very dangerous in the 1990's. They often tell about God HIDING THEM during the dangerous times when the rebels were definitely hunting for them specifically. I am praying for your brother and his family and other associates involved to be hidden in the cleft of the rock and kept safe from all harm that the enemy has devised. That their shadows shall not reveal them and safety will come before them unexpectedly. Remember, New American Standard Bible (©1995)
"No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; And every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their vindication is from Me," declares the LORD. Isaiah 54:17. I am also praying the 91st and 92nd Psalm for them.
Please keep us posted. I believe in specific prayers because of Jesus question to the blind man: "What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked him. The blind man said, "Rabbi, I want to see" (Mark 10:51, NIV)."

Christine, I never though about the right hand & forehead parallel-that's a "wow" moment.
Scott, Praying for your Brother & Family.
The Gospel Of Green
Peter Illyn: God made Earth, but mankind must save it. Just keeping up on the "Green" front. I noticed in TN a couple of Churches promoting this popular concept.
Haven't had a chance to post or read much today. But I just wanted to tell you that I'm praying, Scott.
Praying for all of us.
Hi Grany,
I'm still here.
Please pray that the Lord clear his lungs of all fluid and that good air that is rich in oxygen would flood into his lungs and that all cancer would leave his little body.
little Darian King’s story and journal entries from his loving mom
Scott,
I am praying for your brother. I asked the Lord to hide them under the shadow of His wings and to send His mighty angels to protect them; that the enemies may see their protection and so leave them alone. I asked for the Lord to get this family to safety quickly and that the Lord be glorified in so doing.
Jim G;
Praying for this dear little boy as well.
Christine;
I never noticed the right hand and forhead thing either. How interesting.
I was awakened by my 3 year old yelling but he went back to sleep. I just couldn't! I think that I will pray some more and then get back to sleep. It is 3am here!
Diana
Jim G;
I have been to Darian's web site.
Diana
Grany, I believe in specific prayer, too. I often use that verse in prayer, it settles some of the distress I feel when I am petitioning my Father for something. I sense Him saying to me, "Now, calm down, Sweetie, and tell me, what do you want me to do?" My mind settles down and I can think more clearly.
I am glad that He doesn't need me to know the details that others are reluctant to disclose, for whatever reason, and I can still pray for them.
("So, just WHAT have you been doing the last six months, Mr. Carroll?")
Why, Jim, I think "Braiding string" is a perfectly good response!
Are you making soy candles?
DIANA,
I was praying the same thing about hiding Scott's brother and family under His wings and sending all of the angels to protect them in doing so.
Not much longer to wait!
Grany
Grany, thanks for the prayers.

Mexico Links Sickness, Deaths to Swine Flu:
Grany
Grany,
I remember having a horrible flu back around 1965, my mom referred to it as the "London" flu.

JERI, good seeing your name at the top again.
An interruption or divine appointment?
Jib - The latter one. ;)
Jeri - Good to see you & glad all is going very well with Adi.
Why must I go "down under"?
Maybe he'll come "up over" lol
Praying for everyone's prayer requests.
Alesia
thanks for clarifying :-) I think you need to pick a continent and both of you be on that same continent in reasonable proximity. shall we start a fund? ;-)
Grany
send me the link also
Jeri,
all went well in Gauteng re the voting...no incidents, took me 15 minutes to vote...can you believe that?
Grany,
glad you liked the song...those guys have special voices. btw, I bought that Il Divo DVD...great stuff indeed!
Hallelujah By Leonard CohenJeff Buckley also does a great version:
Hallelujah By Jeff BuckleyAnd for good measure:
I like that mental image!
THUUNDA,
You know which one I like the most~~~~Il Divo!
Grany
Grany,
Agreeing with you, for Linda Lou, and that God will meet her, and supply her every need.
Please also send the material to me, too :) I'd like to check it out.
Love,
Marge
Also agreeing in prayer for all prayer needs mentioned, as well.
Israel shocked by Obama's approval of large Turkish arms sale to Lebanon
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report
22 April: DEBKAfile describes senior Israeli military circles as staggered by the discovery that US president Barack Obama had approved a large Turkish arms sale to the Lebanese army, including the services of Turkish military instructors, without informing Jerusalem.
Gotta go,
Grany
Video-The Passion Promise
Granny, Lisa, and all,
Thanks for lifting up my brother and his family in prayer.
Your fellow servant in Christ,
Scott
Thuunda, I am enclosing a link to the web page for the young man who is helping keep the orphanage running at the refugee camp. click here

By Tim Wood
Professor of History at Southwest Baptist University
Bolivar, Missouri
Grany,
Thanks!
NCIS is the #1 program with Mike,...at the moment, that is :)
It's real "ducky." (ouch!)

Mac,
It looks like the author of that article posted at the OL today isn't who he claims to be.

Thanks for that info Jim. I better let the OL know. This sort of thing detracts from honest conservatism.
I have been wanting to stock up on some food items that would:
1.) be nutritious
2.) be relatively inexpensive
3.) have a long shelf life
It seems that wheat berries meet the above criteria pretty well.

Mac,
I agree. That sort of thing does distract from honest conservatism. I have often wondered if opponents of conservatives do that kind of thing just to discredit the honest ones.
I think this article is worth taking a quick look at.
Seven Major Mistakes in Food Storage
(In case you want to send her an email.)
Dear CWA Member,(Concerned Women for America.)

Lisa, don't forget: Carrie Prejean is proof that Christian women are hot!

"It is the grimmest of ironies that one of the most savage, barbaric acts of evil in history began in one of the most modernized societies of its time, where so many markers of human progress became tools of human depravity: science that can heal, used to kill; education that can enlighten, used to rationalize away basic moral impulses; the bureaucracy that sustains modern life, used as the machinery of mass death, a ruthless, chillingly efficient system where many were responsible for the killing, but few got actual blood on their hands." Carrie Prejean was on the Dove Awards the other night.
Praise G-d!
Anne, Shalom! You wrote:
...but it's her life to submit to God, not mine.

Clues in a book will guide the searcher.
Jim G., Shalom! Here is a list of daily nutritional requirements. I put it together with my ex-wife when I was trying to get them stocked up on 30 days worth of food (per David Wilkerson). I know the formatting on this won't be perfect, but bear with me:
ONE SERVING OF:
Bread = 1 slice or 1/2 cup of cooked cereal like oatmeal
Vegetables = 1/2 Cup chopped veg
Fruit = medium apple or orange, 1/2 C chopped fruit, or 3/4 C juice
Milk = 1 C milk or 1.5 oz cheese
Protein = 2-3oz meat, 1 egg, 1/2 C cooked beans, or 2 Tablespoons peanut butter
You'll also need a source of fat. Either olive oil or canola oil are recommended, since they contain Omega-3 fatty acids, but in a pinch Crisco will do.
DAILY NUTRITIONAL REQ.
. . . MIN . RECOM
B . 6 . . . 9
V . 3 . . . 4
F . 2 . . . 3
M . 2-3 . . 2-3
P . 1 . . . 2
Total Fat (grams) 53 . 73
Total Added Sugar (grams) 24 . 48
Total Calories . 1,600 .
<><
Jim C
you are too funny. I got quite a giggle out of your advice to Anne. Perhaps you should list writer on your resume. perhaps you should work on that book you've always wanted to write but never had the time
Lori
where did you get the instructions? you didn't happen to put the clues in a certain relatives book did you? if not it would have been too appropriate
Jim G
loved the food mistake storage list.
The chicken broth I have provides a little less than one-half the daily requirements!

don't forget to stock up on first aid supplies-bandaids, tape, gauze pads and wraps, alcohol (although in a pinch any alcohol will do as opposed to rubbing alcohol) and hydrogen peroxide and personal items. I might add that some personal items make great dressing supplies as well and if you buy the thick no name pads much cheaper than buying the medical thick pads
laundry soap-probably liquid better than powder and bleach.
vinegar is a great cleaning solution
Just popping in quickly to say hi all. I will catch up on posts later.
Something to stir the soul whether it be morning, noon or night at your place:
Selah Wonderful Merciful SaviourOne of my wife's favourite!
Lisa, that is awesome. What is this booklet?
What a wonderful song! My son is singing tomorrow in a public park and needed another... I think he's going to try this one. He just ran to his piano!
<><
JIM G, JIM C., JIB & LORI,
Great information and I truly appreciate it.

<><

"Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
"Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
Praise God for His faithfulness!
Lori, re: the water filtering...

Michigander,
I loved the flying squirrel story.
Hats off to the Scouts, though :)
Always be prepared, and such, right?
Have a wonderful weekend! And God bless!
Love,
Marge
Anne,
Amen! After raising four sons, I agree. You just can't live someone else's life. Period. In fact, if you go too far, you drive them away from you. There's a "happy medium" to most everything. Not everything, granted. Just most :)
Gotta go bake some banana bread.
Love,
Marge
Marge, I can almost smell it now.
Lori, now you've really piqued my curiosity. Email me privately through Gmail if you'd like my interpretation of the dream!
<><
BTW, here's a link Basic Survival Rain Water Filter System that talks about NOT using barbecue pit charcoal, only granulated activated carbon, which you get from an aquarium store. The activated charcoal is better; I'm describing something you can make with stuff you have around the house.
<><
Lori,
How are we going to know if it's a
"chain" dream unless you tell us what they were about?
My daughter was being chased by a giant octopus last night (: Probably not related to yours though.
The little booklet I have is called "101 Last Days Prophecies". You can find them at:
www.eternal-productions.org.
Vicki-I bet that flying squirrel will be back for more treats!
Canning/Bleach/Zeer Pots- You guys have me done in for. I rather die or pray down manna from heaven than go through all of that!
How about those packets of food people in space eat? That sounds more appealing to me-even if it's crunched up dehydrated stuff.
Coming Swine flu -from a prophetic standpoint.
I like the middle of the paragraph where it talks about in times of disaster people turning to the church for help and the number than came to Christ because of that. Let us all realize that we may be the feeders of the neighborhood.
Lori
at what point humidity does the Zeer not work? we do get some humidity in the summer but generally only about 60% or so
just read on the drudge report that BOO was greeted by a man who died from the swine flu a few days later.
I suggest we be in earnest prayer for our President
get ready for blood to shoot out of your eyes
New tribute painting to BOO to be unveiled in Times Square April 29th
I'm with Lisa regarding the dreams, Lori. Are you going to tell us or will I lay awake all night in my closet wondering about it?
I read the story about the pandemic. It was really good and I marked it so I can hear what Hal Lindsey had to say. I also looked at the story about Obama's painting that will be revealed on his 100th day. That is some spooky stuff! I wouldn't want anyone to paint or replicate anything like that for me! I would be afraid of being struck by a lightning bolt!
Jib,
#1 the pot cannot be glazed.
#2 not in the shade if the humidity is higher than 50%
#3 on windy days the evaporation is faster reducing the temperature
#4 make sure opening is covered with wet towel and keep sand wet
DO NOT STORE unless God tells you to. Not everyone is called to do this as we have found out. I have friends that were told and others that get a red light when they talk about it.
As I told Jim:
Oh My Gosh,
Lori, there was someone on L.A. Marzulli's blog that just told us his dream & it was almost exactly the same thing except it was on a train car.
Christine-was it Hector?
When he origionally had the dream it was before the "train car" conspiracy stuff ever came out.
I'll have to find it & repost it here.
I AM NOT going to freak out.
Jib,
"I suggest we be in earnest prayer for our President"
Do I have to pray he doesn't contact the Swine flu? It may end up a prayer in the flesh after I just saw the latest Obama crown of thorn painting.
I honestly don't think I've matured enough in my spiritual walk to sincerely wish he didn't
come down w/the swine flu.
Grany
Lisa
yes we do have to pray for his safety and health although I did get quite a chuckle out of your snorting comment. since pigs are halal for muslims
about the painting.
Lori
creepy dream. did you know about his dream before you had yours? if not would seem reasonable to me to consider the dream a message or warning. I do like however the fact that you all were obviously at peace. do you get a sense of time with the dream?
Grany
did you ever tell us the last part of your dream?
I found it. Hector posted the dream but it was a friend of his who had the dream:
a Christian friend of mine once had a dream, (in the 80s) and it has stuck in my mind-
in this dream, he said that he was trying to go to church, but all the churches had been closed down, and he could hear people calling out to him-
and he saw there was a train sitting on the tracks, full of people-
people were loaded on cattle cars, and they were calling him to hurry up and get on board-
but before he could get on board, the train took off so fast, as to defy all natural explanation…
but he said that as the train went past him, the people were still trying to get him onboard, calling to him, and reaching out their hands from between the boards on the cattle cars…
they were telling him: “cmon cmon! get onboard! its time to get saved!”
but he missed the train, and it was gone in a twinkling of an eye…
im not sure how bad things will get here in the US in regards to persecution,
but yeah, cattle cars are very reminiscent of nazi germany…
(this was waaay before i had heard anything about fema cattle cars)
like wilkerson said, were gonna have to walk through the fire—
i try and prepare for the worst, but pray for the best…
Hi all. juat stopping in to say "hi".
Diana
RE:The Swine Flu
The Coming Influenza Pandemic.
Oh, I forgot to point out that this was written in 2005 and the Dr. was focusing on avian flu. However, it still seems like it would be useful today.
Prayer request
my dad was admitted in the wee hours of the morning with chest pain and is on a nitro drip right now. the chest pain is starting up again a little. the cardiologist has not seen him yet. they are not at the hospital where his own cardiologist goes to since their friend just had such a bad experience there. he does have heart disease but it has been stable for years. pray for his healing.
also-since my mom is the care provider for my brothers kids and actually transports one of them to his school pray also for my brother and sister in law-that they can find someone to take care of their kids.
Hi Christine,
I've printed that link and maybe the Lord leads me to help them in a way...if I can...you never know. And thanks!
Grany,
You know, I also turned the Hallelujah song into a praise song...even with my own words.

Not good!
Thank you for sharing Thuunda and God bless.
Grany
THUUNDA, here is one for you and enjoy!
MONTI CSARDAS.
Same artist and she is great! Now my day is made and I am enjoying myself greatly.

Thanks for your prayers
a quick update-the cardiac cath shows progression of his disease but it isn't considered medically significant disease. they will be doing an ultrasound of his abdomen to make sure it isn't his gallbladder and it looks like he will tentatively be discharged tomorrow. my sister in law was able to go into work today by special arrangement so she can take the day off tomorrow and not get docked for pay.
The Hal Lindsey Report was pretty good about the forming One World Govt.
Anne
it was pretty well written article.
regarding the drugs-reasonable enough although I would wait until needed or until it hits if it hits where you live. consider getting some suppositories as opposed to pills if diarrhea isn't an issue (they are pricey and require refrigeration however)
one of the fine print things is that you shouldn't treat a temp between 99-101 (very true)since that is actually helpful and is the bodies defense mechanism for killing both bacteria and viruses.
the only thing I would disagree with is the step 5 of the dietary program. if you have someone who has had severe diarrhea for a few days for any reason do not give them any dairy products for about 4- 6 weeks. the lactase enzyme that digests the lactose sugar molecule is the last one to return and introduction of dairy products before it returns can cause the diarrhea to come back or worsen.
" War On The Cross "
Praying, Jib. Praying for all.
Thanks, Jib, I will print out your comments and keep with the article. When we travel to Africa we use Culturelle. I'll take a look at the VSL#3. I'm sure I will not be able to get a supply of Tamiflu, though it would be nice to have on hand!
Hi all,
Been reading the comments and wanted to confirm what jib said about dairy.
Info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BRAT_diet

Silence of the Lambs As we progress down the road-something to keep in mind.
(I wonder what 2010 is going to look like @ the rate we're going?)
He has a gift
Grany
Grany,

My daughter is learning about the 12 Tribes if Israel in her Bible Study book so & I ran across The Emblems of the 12 Tribes of Israel which you may find interesting.
I forgot who says this but one of the Bible Prophecy scholar's motto is: to be like the "Sons of Issachar understanding the times."
Hey-Isn't that Joel Rosenburg?
Here is something to think about-the 12 Tribes or Israel-the 12 Apostles & the 24 Elders in the book of Revelation. (Also the tribe on "Dan" is not mentioned in the 144,000.**Curious the tribal symbol is a snake.)
(Personally I don't think the "24 Elders" represent the general "Church" in heaven but rather they are literally 24 God appointed Elders. And some day we'll find out for sure- Hopefully real soon!)
Just received this email...,
Urgent Alert!
Senate
Kent Conrad (D-N. Dak.)
Patty Murray (D-Wash.)
Judd Gregg (R-N.H.)
HouseJohn Spratt (D-S.C.)
Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.)
Allen Boyd (D-Fla.)
Paul Ryan (R-Wis.)
Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas)
Please click here to send a message to your senator OPPOSING HEALTH CARE RECONCILIATION.
Nate-from your Mexico Earthquake link:
Lisa, what is up with your cat??
Pretty darn amazing that Mexico City has been hit with an earthquake now. Drug cartels, economic crisis, flu, now earthquake. Yea, only the beginning.
The Lord is teaching me how to cultivate the ground and to garden. It is raining today so I can't do much. i have never gardened before and it is a running joke in the family that I kill plants. I think that is about to change thanks to the Lord. :)
diana
I don't remember for sure, but didn't Wilkerson warn in one of his messages to watch for Mexico to collapse?
actually I think it was Glen Beck and our own state department had issued a warning about Mexico being the second most dangerous place to visit right now-right after Pakistan!
Nate
glad to see you. how's the back?
update on my dad
he is being released this afternoon. no cause of pain found-perhaps it really was food poisoning.
If you have a source of sulfuric acid (like a supply of old car batteries), you can make your own activated charcoal. Check out this article from Make Magazine: MakeShift 02: Vinnie Forgione's "Schmutzdecke" Honorable Mention.
Have fun! And wear goggles!

New post from Joel:
UNDERSTANDING THE ISLAMIC REVOLUTION: Part 1 of the Dobson broadcasts
(he was on Dobson today and will be tomorrow)
Yippeeee!

Lisa,
It could be Hilton Sutton.
Hilton Sutton World Ministries
& the Issachar Team 1 Chron.
It's so awesome that God had you post them here.
Nate, thanks for the links and I'm glad to see you.
Donna, still out there? How are you doing?
Jim C. Something along your lines:
New post is up.
