so does that mean I'm a happy clinging plant? (referring to your discussion of names?)

Late Night Lisa said...

Well let's see what Lisa means in Hebrew:

Meaning: Diminutive of Elisabeth or Elizabeth, from Elisheba, meaning either oath of God, or God is satisfaction. Also a diminutive of Bethia (daughter or worshipper of God), and of Bethany, a New Testament village near Jerusalem. (Ok-I'll buy that.)

Melanie:Latin

Meaning: The black one. Dark. Famous Bearer: A character in Margaret Mitchell's 'Gone with the Wind'. (I hope that one means dark hair or skin! but she's a blond. oops!)

Oh no-Now I got more than I bargined for w/Lorraine. Did you know about The Cross of Lorraine?
Meaning:
English and French: regional name from the border region of Lorraine in northeastern France, so called from the Germanic tribal name Lotharingi ‘people of Lothar’ (a personal name composed of the elements hlod ‘famous’, ‘renowned’ + hari, heri ‘army’).

Whew-I'm so happy we get a new name only God knows!

Hey Grany,
I can see the correlation in 2 of my 3 kids' names:
Matthew means "gift of God" and that is certainly true since he was our first born after many Hannah years :-)
And Lauren derives from the laurel plant used in victory crowns. We were told baby C wouldn't survive because of slow growth initially, but she turned out to be the fighter and refused to be defeated, so Lauren fits her well.
As for Joshua (Jehovah is salvation), not sure of that connection, but it sure has good prospects!

Also, anyone else see this Sprint commercial and feel kinda freaked out about it? The upbeat music makes you feel good until you realize exactly what it all means. Another example of selling big brother as something beneficial to us all.

I've been thinking about what you wrote on studying prophecy etc and how your attitude has changes. my attitude has also changed in that I just can't seem to get enough of teaching from Frucht as an example of the Jewish roots of our faith. I really wish I had the time to go to his summer camp or even on tour with him in Israel.

Have all of you thought that the attacks on Israel means that Satan knows his time is short or that perhaps he has decided to try and force God's hand to the final confrontation thinking that he will catch God off guard and he might have a chance of winning?

as we approach Resurrection Sunday keep this one thing in mind

The stone was not rolled away because Jesus needed help in getting out of the tomb but was rolled away so that we as frail humans could see the truth within-That Christ was risen and death conquered

another lesson some of you might find interesting is the teaching on the Messianic miracles from Frucht. I learned quite a lot from this and view these miracles in a completely different light as well as the actions of the Jewish elders regarding some of Jesus' miracles. Frucht also touches on what he believes is the appropriate teaching on the unpardonable sin.

on the trial of Messiah lesson I learned that one of the laws of the Sanhedrin that was developed came about because they believed that one couldn't get a group of Jews together and have them agree on anything unanimously. So with trials before that group they could all unanimously agree on someone's innocence but a unanimous agreement on guilt automatically meant that person was innocent since complete agreement could only come about by conspiracy.

My little boy's name is "Christiaan", which my wife decided upon.

It's a common Afrikaans (and Dutch) name and apparently it means "follower of Christ", which I say amen to.

We did not know this at the time of giving him the name, but it's very close to Christian (just one more "a", so the meaning is actually quite obvious).

Good God's Morning everyone from Okieland! Oh, the sun is shining brightly, the birds are singing and God is still on his throne no matter what Satan tries to do.

JIB, now about your name meaning. Here is what I found on the site "Behind the Name:Meaning, Origin, etc. 'From the (masculine) medieval name Josse, which was derived from the earlier Ioceus or Iodocus, Latinized forms of the Breton name Jodoc meaning "lord". The name belonged to a 7th-century Breton saint, and it was introduced to England by Breton settlers after the Norman conquest. It died out after the 14th century, but was later revived as a feminine name, perhaps because of similarity to the word joy. This given name also formed the basis for a surname, as in the case of the Irish novelist James Joyce (1882-1941)." I am wondering if there are as many "meanings" as there are web sites supposedly devoted to the subject.

Anyway, if you are a happy clinging plant, then God must have planted you and you are still clinging to him. Be Glad and REJOYCE!

I am sorry it took me so long to respond but I went to the Frucht and enjoyed somemore of his ebook on Messianic Epistles. The teaching JIB told us about on Messianic Miracles is great but then I feel like I have walked into a whole revelation experience just reading or listening to Dr. Fruchtenbaum. How much more meaning and purpose of scripture seems to come alive everytime I spend time in his materials. One of the things I so greatly admire about him is his dedication to the original language and meaning of the written word. Where was he when I was young enough to see even the tiny print? I know he was here but where in the world was his material. I would love to spend the summer at his Camp Shoshanah and last year I almost did. I had the money saved, didn't have my reservations in place but then all of the plans took a nose dive when Jim started having some minor health problems. So, I purchased the DVD's on the teachings that year. He had a special (fantastic one)and I took advantage of it and missed out on the poison ivy, mosquitoes, snakes, long driving trip, and a cross hubby because of my absence. A lot cheaper too!

I enjoyed all of the comments about the names research and you have all made my day. Thuunda, your wife did a great job of naming your son! Just like Christ. I am so glad you enjoyed the Il Divo link.

If any of you missed the link to Il Divo, oh, go back and listen and watch it! I can tell you that it really blessed my heart greatly. DH left to go to the walking path after I first found it and so I switched my sound system over to the Surround Sound speakers on my computer, present from my kids, and turned the volume way up so the music would fill the whole house. It was absolutely knee buckling. I played it over and over until DH got back and then had to turn the volume down. Willy Nelson is more DH's cup of tea. I loved the back drop for the whole thing and when the bagpipes started up, I about melted into a puddle of pure cholesterolized butter. YouTube has a zillion of their recordings and although they are all beautiful, Amazing Grace outdoes them all. I think I have found my replacement for The Four Tenors.

Will we ever be able to sing wonderfully and powerfully in heaven and it will be gorgeous. But don't wait until heaven. Ask Abba to give you the ability to glorify His name with your voice and all that is within you; He Will! He likes beautiful music also but you have to believe that he will do it for you.

Well, breakfast awaits! I don't know who it is waiting on but considering not a crumb is ready, I guess it is me to the stove.

Love you all and have a wonderful God given day to reJoyce and worship our King.

The End of Christian America-Newsweek front Page This was linked before but what is more interesting than the article to me are some of the comments.

With Obama in office we should call the next issue "The Beginning of Muslim America."

I don't know but I wonder if perhaps this headline represents more than meets the eye-such as the "The End of the Church Age."

On comment 3# There is something I find tragically sad. Basically I think this person was turned off to Christianity because she feels it's hypocritical & it appears that she is seeing it from an OSAS position in terms have having no accountability for one's actions.

Here is part of it:

"I'm glad Chrisitianity is down! I'm not a christian, but was raised as a catholic and none of it just makes sense. The most insane thing is when I've discused chritianity with christians, baptist to be exact, they've explained it to me like this "if you accept christ as your lord and savior you will have eternal life no matter what you do after you could murder but because you've accepted christ you will go to heaven." How in the world does that make sense?!?!......

Diana, Shalom! For years, Catholics ate fish on Fridays, every Friday. I don't know how or when the discipline started; I do know it was supposed to be associated with fasting, since for most of human history fish has been very bland. As point of fact, it's not a requirement to eat fish; you just can't eat meat. Since I really don't like fish, I spent a lot of Fridays growing up eating cold cereal instead.

I remember when the ruling came down removing this discipline. The reasoning was that since there were so many flavorful ways to fix seafood now (shrimp scampi, tuna casserole, fish sticks, etc.) the original reason for the discipline (as a form of fasting) didn't apply anymore. Instead, it was kept only for the period of Lent. Ash Wednesday and all the Fridays in Lent are supposed to be meatless.

In addition, both Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are supposed to be days of fasting, where you can have only one full meal, two smaller meals that don't add up to one meal, and no between-meal snacks. (I'm exempt this year because I'm still working on controlling my diabetes, but I'm planning on following that discipline next year.)

BTW, there was a debate on Catholic Answers Forum as to whether or not you could eat frog legs on Fridays in Lent. It turns out that the original Latin used in laying out the discipline used the word "carne", which in Latin means the meat of cows, pigs, and chickens. It also permitted the use of condiments made from those animals (meaning we can use butter and broth). Since frogs aren't considered "carne", they are acceptable. One person pointed out that by this definition, we could also eat the meat of mermaids and dragons. Some people have such exotic tastes...

Nate,

"The Blessing of the Sun," is quite interesting. I have never heard of it before. I have no idea of any prophetic meaning. I would be very interested in finding out if it is mentioned in the scriptures anywhere.

I too was very excited when I discovered a couple weeks ago that our "Easter Week," this year runs parallel to Jesus' last week. This does not occur very often.

I've always hated that we as Christians still follow this phony Easter date system. And created the "good Friday" observance, when Jesus was actually crucified on Nisan 14 (during the day) which was Thursday, not Friday. And, I do understand that it is not easy since Nissan 10 and 14 do not occur on the same days of the week each year. I guess we will just have to wait until the Messiah returns to set up His kingdom, to get these things corrected.

A large group of us at my church are meeting on Thursday to observe the crucifiction in lieu of the Friday observance, but the church will still hold it's Friday observation for the rest of the members and the public who will observe the "tradition." But many of us felt that having this parallel week to the actual week just could not be overlooked by us.

I pray that all of you are having a glorious "passion week." And may everyone's Resurrection Day celebration on Sunday bring many new persons into His Saving Grace.

Maranatha!

It is very neat to have the Easter events on the 'right' days this year. I just learned about Nissan 10 and 14 in Uncle Bob's book, putting the crucifiction on Thursday.

Was the Il Divo link in the previous post? I will check.

Nate,

Thanks for the info regarding the Blessing of the Sun! Very interesting.

You wrote:
The Blessing of the Sun. This has happened only 2 times before in the last 6,000 years (occurring on the eve of Passover) - - before the start of the exodus from Egypt and at the first Purim.

There's another article that says it is the 12th time. Whether this is the 3rd time or the 12th time it has happened, we know both numbers carry significance in the Bible.

Can anyone untangle the discrepency? I'm sure I misunderstood something. Then again, maybe it was a typo or journalistic error.

Jews ready Passover's Blessing of the Sun

"As observant Jews prepare for the beginning of the eight-day Passover celebration tonight, some will pause this morning to recite the least frequently spoken prayer in Judaism.

It is a ritual that comes around only once every 28 years, one that commemorates the sun's return to the place in the firmament where, according to the Book of Genesis, God created it on the fourth day.

This year's confluence of Passover and the sun's commemoration is particularly rare - marking only the 12th occurrence in the 5,769-year-old Jewish calendar."

CAMPSMORE, Lori,

I love your kids names and Addison is unique! Good sense of humor by your DH.

The info regarding IL Divo really gives me a second opinion of Simon the Terrible. He has a great sense of what is and who isn't but it is the way he puts it out that causes me to cringe. I do believe he has a fantastic keen sense of talent and that is proven by this group.

HOMEWARD BOUND, it was on the previous post. I know you will enjoy it. I am still doing so.

LISA, you and all the rest of us know that Christianity is not going to garbage heap anytime soon no matter what the Liberal Left News Media has to say. Jesus told us that "the gates of Hell shall not prevail against the church" and we will see the ruin of the press before they will see the destruction of the Believers. Christians will just dig in deeper and firmer as the days go by.

JIM C. Don't forget, God renamed Jacob so he became Israel. Although James is often referred to as "Usurper" it is also thought to mean "he whom God will protect". Now so you are completely confused, look up Israel at thee same source and this is what it tells us "From the Hebrew name יִשְׂרָאֵל (Yisra'el) meaning "God contended". In the Old Testament Israel (who was formerly named Jacob; see Genesis 32:28) wrestled with an angel. The ancient and modern states of Israel took their names from him."

So cheer up! you don't want a permanent hip injury that will cause you to limp through life, do you? Besides that, Angels are very, very big so it makes the battle lopsided.

Love you all,
Grany

Leanna,

Sorry if I'm butting in. I was wondering if you’re suspicious of numerology?

God is very precise & Mathematical. The particular numbers God uses in the Bible are not placed there randomly. They all mean something. For example in Revelation the number 7 is extensively repeated. (Seven represents Spiritual Perfection.)Remember the Stock Market last year "777" and how the Prophecy scholars thought it may be significant?

Those who study the numbers in the Bible realized it is God who uses them to communicate & it was Satan who perverted it into an occult Numerology system as well. Just like Astrology. God created it for "signs" & "seasons" as a way of communication to mankind. Particularly before the written word was available. Again it's Satan who perverted it & formed an occult version. The astrological signs really predict the birth, death,& resurrection of Christ.

The majority of Pastors have told their followers to stay away from Numerology & Astrology period. They probably never went back to study it & didn't know that originally God is connected to it. Since they don't know any difference I see the point. It's wise council w/the limited knowledge they had.

But now we do have vast amounts of information available but it's still not something most people study or even know about. A little similar to eschatology.

Pastor Ray has brought this topic up to his congregation though to keep them updated. He recently wrote an article called Written in the Stars For any interested.

He's also mentioned the E.W. Bullinger book called "Number in Scripture" which I have & goes into depth on the subject.

I think Bullinger also wrote one one Biblical Astrology but I don't have that one.

Hi Leanna,

Here are the biblical passages:

374 Bible verses containing the number "three"
(This list includes verses that refer to "three and a half" which of course is not the same as "three" but I couldn't filter out these from the results.)

132 Bible verses containing the number "twelve"

In addition to the explicit use of the numbers, I think there are other areas where you will find lists of three and lists of twelve. For example, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Lisa,

Yes, I am very familiar with God's Numerology and the Hebrew Mazzeroth.

But, I was responding to Jim G.'s comment about the scriptures and the Blessing of the Sun.

Maybe, I misunderstood him, and he was indeed referring to the 3rd and 12th time as being biblically important. But my mind was on the subject at hand, "Blessing of the Sun."

The Bible is the inspired Word of God, and the Jewish Talmud is not.

Since the Jews are observing this, my question is this because of something that was written in the Word of God, or man made as so many of the jewish customs are.

Jim G., if I misunderstood you, I am sorry.

Blessings and Maranatha,

Leanna

Leanne,

I was simply pointing out that the numbers 3 and 12 carry significance in Scripture. Obviously the Jewish calendar is from the Lord. It reflects and commemorates God's dealings with his people. Just because something is not in Scripture, doesn't mean it is not valuable or true. The Talmud I'm sure contains much truth even if it is not canon.

3 x 12 = 360

360 is also significant. It is the length of a year in the Bible. I found a link some time ago that I posted on this blog when I was thinking that the 360 degrees in a circle was a man made concept. It is from the Lord.

Does anyone still have that link bookmarked? It had to do with how precise the Jewish prophetic year really is.

Hi! I'm new. I don't know what my name means in Hebrew. It is Christine in English. As for Messianic teachings there is a reason these have become so important in these last days. Read Ezekiel 37 beginning with verse 15. The chapter begins with the dry bones coming alive and speaking. We know that Israel as a nation was dead, even their language! Now they are alive again and even the Hebrew language is alive! Next is these verses about Ezekiel taking two sticks and writing on them Ephraim and Judah. Ephraim was the Jewish/Gentile son of Joseph. G-d is beginning the work of bringing the two together, hence the new interest in the Hebraic roots! We know that the next chapter brings the Ezekiel war, and we are already seeing the beginnings of that! We are seeing some exciting times in our area. I am enclosing a link to a story a friend of our who is a Rabbi wrote. Pray for him. I believe he is on the verge of a wonderful discovery!

You can go into Eddie Chumney's room at Beit Yacov congregation. It starts about 1-1:30PM on Saturdays only. It starts with the new 5 minute update (actually lasts an hour to an hour and a half!)and at 2:30 they begin the Torah readings, and teachings. Bill Cloud is recording his teachings and putting them in Pal Talk under Yeshivat Hashoresh. His is new. I think his are available all the time, I haven't been in there yet to check. There is an opportunity I know in Eddie Chumney's room to chat while they are teaching. You can ask questions and get them answered. I wanted to know, how do you all get the links to work? I spent most of my day on line today trying to find some good music videos to post on my blog along with scripture and my thoughts. I found some great ones and posted some great scripture too! I was so happy when I finally finished. Not too many people visit my blog but I know that my sister-in-law does sometimes. She is an athiest. So, when I finished it up today I prayed that someone would be touched by what I shared, hopefully my sister-in-law or someone who is just browsing blogs. I have had the tears flowing alot today due to all of that and just a general sense of closeness to the Lord and thankfulness for what He has done for me. I posted Isaiah 53 on my blog, had my daughter read it to me while I typed, and I have just been in awe by our Lord and crying everytime I think of Him! Praise Jesus, our Lord and saviour! I can't waite to see Him face to face and fall at His feet in worship. But then again, I am willing to waite for that if only more people would have time to come to Him, particularly certain family members and those who have been prayed for here on this blog.
I feel the Lord strengthening me more and more each day with His Holy Spirit. I pray you all have that too as we will surely need it in the days to come.
Praying for all of you here tonight. Lord bless you all and keep you!

Welcome Christine! Happens to be my middle name too.

Have absolutely no idea what Alesia means.
Funny story - my name was supposed to be Colleen. The other new mother in the room, who was an indian, had intended to name her daughter Alesia. Both women liked the other's name choice & switched names. So, there is an indian girl running around named Colleen & I get this weird name.

Lori - I got a kick out of the Addison story - very funny.

Marge - haven't read Kiss yet. So it's good, huh? I'll have to put it next on my list. Thanks.

I know everyone is feeling the same, but I am so depressed over what's been happening in this country. I try to stop looking at news, but can't help myself.

I've never been one to say "come Lord quickly" (want to see WAY more people saved first) but find myself saying "I'm ready, take me home, please!"

Nate - How's the back?

Thuunda - so glad to see your comments again.

Goodnight, all, I need my beauty sleep!

Hague Convention--International Adoption Placements on hold

The following is a cut and paste from a memo that basically says international adoptions in Oregon are on hold until we are in compliance with International regulations. The Hague Convention embraces the UN Rights of the Child agenda. Looks like the US State Dept is going to get right in line (though it apparently started under the Bush administration).

Department of Human Services
Children, Adults and Families

Interoffice Memorandum

Date: March 10, 2009

To: Chief Justice Paul DeMuniz

cc: Leola McKenzie, Assistant Director, Court Programs and Services Division
Benjamin Hazelton, Administrator, Citizen Review Board
Rebecca Orf, Juvenile Law Staff Counsel
Ingrid Swenson, Executive Director, Public Defense Services Commission
Becky Smith, Administrator, CASA Program

From: Erinn Kelley-Siel, Interim Director
DHS Children, Adults and Families Division

Subject: Temporary Hold on International Adoption Placements

In July 2008, the Hague Convention on Intercountry Adoption ("the Convention") took effect for public child welfare agencies in the United States (after taking effect for private adoption agencies in April). The Convention outlines federal requirements for the placement of children for the purpose of adoption in another country by state public and private child welfare agencies. Since that time, the Department of Human Services has been working to develop an understanding of its obligations under the new law and to identify the steps that we must take for implementation.

Based on new information received by the Children, Adults and Families Division this week, the Department has determined that is it necessary to immediately place on hold all planned, international placements for the purpose of adoption of children in our custody pending completion of policy and practice guidelines for the field that will make Oregon fully-compliant with the IAA. This action is not intended to impact plans to return a child to a parent who resides in another country and does not preclude on-going planning efforts for adoption that contemplate inter-country adoption by a relative.

CAF appreciates the significance of this action and understands that it may slow down achievement of permanency for some children. However, compliance with the new requirements will improve our ability to ensure that the adoptive family can fully address their child’s needs in a new country and that there is added emphasis on safety and permanency as these adoptions are finalized in our court system.

The accompanying message has been sent to all of our field managers and staff that
work with freeing and placing children for adoption and it should provide you with more information about our intent. Please be assured that we will move as quickly as possible to complete implementing policy and accompanying practice guidelines for the field, as well as a training plan, in an effort to minimize the impact on children. An expected completion date is May 8, 2009.

Any questions can be directed to Beth Englander, Adoptions Program Manager at (503) 947-5358, or Gloria Anderson, Diversity and International Affairs Manager at (503) 945-5700.

He's with several pirates in a lifeboat that is drifting near the ship, but without fuel to start the engine. The company said it's willing to pay a ransom and has asked the military ships to stand down as they try to work out a deal for his release.

I have a sneaky suspicion that kind of propaganda is passed around on the net each time our gov't gets ready to pass some ridiculous piece of legislation.

The enemy knows what irks Christians and uses it to keep up distracted.

So our concern should not be for this picture, we should be asking ourselves, what are they getting ready to sign?

Stay prayed up folks, and if possible check out what your gov't is doing.

Grany, I'm familiar with Jacob. He came out of his mother's womb grasping Esau's heel, which is the literal meaning of "Jacob" ("grasping his heel"). It's one reason I was so eager to get my new eyeglass prescription filled, so I could see which of my daughters was feeding me stew. (My book collection is an item of hot contention.)

My ex and I were familiar with the power of names. With our third kid, we were both kind of hoping for a boy since we already had two girls, and the name we had picked out was "Corwin James" Corwin is the name of the main character in one of our favorite books; it's a Gaelic name that means "dark"; and we both liked the romantic sound of "The Dark Usurper" -- you know, Heathcliff with dark brooding eyes, standing on a cliff over a stormy sea, cape blowing in the wind -- that sort of thing. However, we had another girl, whom we named Rosemary, after the herb which gave my ex horrible heartburn during pregnancy -- a bit of commentary on how that pregnancy went, don't you think?

Christine, Shalom! I wasn't in most of yesterday so I didn't see the Fox thing on the Shroud of Turin. I DID see the documentary they had on the History Channel earlier this week -- very good, very interesting. I believe it is the actual burial shroud of Jesus, because I think the evidence in favor of that conclusion is much stronger than any evidence against it.

BTW, in case you didn't know, the original carbon-14 dating tests (the ones that showed it was from the middle ages) have been thrown out. It seems that when selecting the part of the Shroud to cut, they didn't pay attention to their own data. In one of florescent photos taken of the shroud, it's pretty much the same color except for one corner. Turns out a process called "French re-weaving" was used to repair the Shroud using cotton instead of linen. The repair job was so good the repair is invisible to the naked eye, but visible under florescence. Guess where they took the sample for the carbon-14 dating? What's more, it turns out that they may not be able to get ANY reliable readings using C14 dating. The box that holds the Shroud was coated with a preservative years ago. It turns out the preservative is organic and may have contaminated the Shroud, which would skew any C14 dating.

Another bit of interesting information: It may be that the Shroud was the tablecloth used at the Last Supper! The dimensions of the Shroud match typical Passover tablecloths used at the time. When they took Jesus down from the cross and needed to wrap him in something, they may have used the tablecloth just because it was available. I don't think there's any way they could test that theory, though.

There's an excellent book you should try to get if you're interested in the Shroud. It's called "Report on the Shroud of Turin" by Dr. John H. Heller, who was a member of the original STURP group that analyzed the data from the 1978 scientific analysis -- the first such analysis of the Shroud. It's an excellent book, that covers the history of the Shroud, the set-up to the analysis (including many of the amazing coincidents that happened to make the analysis happen), and the results of that analysis. The data is over 30 years old, but it still stands up as the best description of how science works. (BTW, if you ever see a book about the Shroud written by Walter McCrone, stay away from it. He has a way of making up his mind about things and then making the data fit his conclusions. Dr. Heller has some interesting things to say about McCrone in his book.)

Thanks everyone for the great welcome! I really enjoy blogging about subjects I am really interested in, like the Lord! I know what my names mean in other languages, but not Hebrew. I forgot what language Cynthia was, but I do remember it was goddess of the moon, which I really don't like and it is one reason I do not use it. As for Christine, I don't remember the language either, but it is suppose to mean follower of Christ. I have a friend who came over from Israel. He is fluent in Hebrew. When I asked him what Christine would mean in Hebrew, he just gave me a blank look and said he didn't know! LOL! I figured there was no need to pursue it after that! I have another link for you. It is about us losing our soveriegnty to the world economy. click here Passover is actually a week long event, so there is no telling what we will see happen by next Thursday!

For Lisa and anyone interested;

This is a good overview of the UFO perspective and how it relates to Bible prophecy. Some have taken this view to the extreme, but this seems to be a balanced perspective of the whole thing. I copied this from "Rapture Alert" website. To me this makes sense because it ties in so well with "new age".

A Deception of Cosmic Proportions
By Heidi Swander
UFOs are real, they're just not from outer space. So says Chuck Missler in his informative book, Alien Encounters: The Secret Behind the UFO Phenomenon. Missler is convinced that the alleged aliens publicized these days are demonic forces, and equates them convincingly with the angels that co-habited with women in Genesis 6.

Stay with me for these few paragraphs and see if your curiosity isn't piqued just a bit. Granted, there are many details we don't know about the pre-flood days, but in my opinion, Missler's hypothesis fills in a lot of gaps (Matt. 24:37).

Think about it. The Bible says, "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows his handiwork" (Psalm 19:1). But talk of UFOs and aliens from outer space doesn't glorify God. To the contrary; you'd be very surprised at what they DO glorify.

For instance, these alleged extraterrestrials are big proponents of a new world order. According to Missler, "Throughout the history of alleged extraterrestrial contact there is one theme that dominates ETs' messages to mankind. In order to survive, we must unify our resources into a global society, with a world governing body and global religion." Sound familiar?

He then cites Brad Steiger, author of the book, The Fellowship: "Contactees have been told that the Space Beings hope to guide Earth to a period of great unification . . . The Space Beings also seek to bring about a single, solidified government, which will conduct itself on spiritual principles . . ."

Missler's conviction that these beings are demons is further strengthened by the fact that these alleged aliens are "coincidentally" concerned with the exact same philosophies espoused by the New Age movement! He says a vast majority of abductees "have shown an interest in paranormal activities, Eastern religions, and New Age world-view. A large percentage of abductees have also reported a history of involvement with Ouija boards, astrology, witchcraft, astral projection, telepathic communication, channeling, past life regressions, and the like."

In fact, apparently "one of the more common sources of information from extraterrestrials comes through channelers. Channeling [a practice prolific among followers of the New Age movement] is a process whereby an individual (the channel) allows him or herself to be entered or spoken through by a spiritual entity [read: demon]."

Missler also cites Jacques Vallee, world-renowned UFO researcher, who says, "The structure of abduction stories [is] identical to that of occult initiation rituals." These issues may seem far out, but they are germane to the subject of the end-times, which an increasing number of Christians believe we're living in right now!

And speaking of the end-times, I just have to share this with you. Apparently these ETs have a plan to "evacuate the millions of people who are 'out of vibration' with Earth Mother!" I kid you not! According to Missler, ET officionados explain that, "extraterrestrials will 'beam up' or levitate these individuals into hundreds of cloaked alien ships that are currently surrounding the Earth. When the global situation reaches a crisis point on Earth, they will evacuate these people in a 'twinkling of an eye.'" Apparently Satan feels an intense need to explain where millions of us have gone after the fact.

Admittedly, this is a subject that generates a lot of discussion! Some may say this is strange Star Wars or Twilight Zone talk, but it is actually thought-provoking apologetics to contemplate. But our central focus right now must continue to be to warn our loved ones of the danger looming over our world and to reach those who are lost with the good news of eternal salvation through Jesus Christ - while we still have time!

The Bible says there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven in the last days (Luke 21:11). I find it intriguing that the escalation of UFO activity began in 1948. Even back then the demonic world sensed that the rebirth of Israel was a sign that the time was short.

Take heart, friend! A good and perfect world government is coming -- the reign of Jesus Christ on this earth. If you know Jesus Christ personally you - as I - will be reigning with Him (Rev. 20:6)! At that time Satan and his minions will be bound for a thousand years, summarily squashed in one last attempt to overthrow the King of kings, and then banished to the lake of fire for eternity.

Look up (Luke 21:28). Our redemption is coming!!

To better understand these kinds of issues, check out Olive Tree Ministries' Newswatch category on Spiritual Deception.

The author of this commentary, Heidi Swander, is a ministry associate and personal assistant to Jan Markell of Olive Tree Ministries.

I totally agree with the ufo theory. I thought it was way out there at first, but I started researching it and reading my Bible...it's very possible! I have never seen anything good come from anybody seeing one. There is always extreme fear, and pain if it comes in contact. That can't be of G-d. The Word also says satan will appear as an angel of light. What are ufo's? Lights. I have been watching ufo hunters on the history channel. While everyone proclaims them to be from space, they are spotted regularly coming out of the sea and many believe they see tunnels they come and go from in the water around Cuba. It's just a lot of weird stuff that I am convinced is not of G-d. The Word says that the devil knows his time his short. 7 years, that's all he gets and he knows it. I am sure that, for those 7 years, it will literally be hell on earth. The people here, hopefully not us, will see things that they have never imagined! I believe John in Revelation was hard pressed to describe what he saw! Just knowing it was that hard to describe, and that bad, makes me want to definitely be out of here!

Scott Robinson said...

Hey all,
RE: UFO theory.
Some also claim there are similar hot spots/holes around that Shag harbour area in Nova Scotia, another area off the coast of Brazil is recognized.

Another interesting story came out last month, I don't remember if somebody here posted the link or I read it off raidernewsnetwork, but apparently an atheistic UFO researcher recently became a Christian because he studied UFO abductions. What is interesting is that in numerous cases the attempted abduction was thwarted by the victim crying out for help from Jesus Christ. Those who used the Lord's name, not in vain mind you, NEVER were taken up. So, why would true aliens care about our Lord's name?.... but we all know why demons would back off from it's use.

In the stranger than fiction file goes a class of drugs that are known hallucinogens, Iboga is the classic one, and apparently newer synthetics are much stronger, most of these have DNA altering properties as well, like LSD. Anyway, one drug I forget the name of has been associated with alien abductions, those use use it very frequently are later taken for a ride, so to speak. Here's the weird part, our friend dinner jacket apparently is a user. Maybe why he's meeting the 12th Imam in the desert?

In His Grip,
Scott

PS if BOO passes the internet security law thing we may have to prayerfully consider how much personal info we want on this and all internet sites.

Great Grany 5 said...

Scott, I totally agree and think we should stay away from any further listing of our data. In fact, it might be a good thing to seal off the previous conversations just in case. Back during Joel's blog, several of the regulars kept notes on who was where, and their personal data. Child of the King kept a Journal of sorts along with prayer requests and would reference those notes on occasion.

I don't mean to be an alarmist but I live in Kokomo, Indiana and have 17 children and ride horses all of the time. My husband is a retired General with Special Forces and I have seen combat several times. Always came out a winner. Last engagement was a doozie. LOL

Now, all of that I said is in jest but what Scott is telling us is not. We need to be wise as serpents and gentle as doves.

I just have to share something with you all. A horrible storm came through our area around 6 p.m. today and oh, boy, the twirling rotating masses were heading all over the eastern part of our state. Hubby was very, very fearful and called me home because of the seriousness of it all. I got home, fixed dinner, sat down to eat, bowed my head and asked God to hide us in the shelter of His wings and I, "you know what I did". The storms all slacked off, I am not kidding one little bit, and went zipping past us to the east. A little town to the east of us about 7 miles had confirmed rotation on the ground but it only touched down in the huge crop lands that occupy most of the old river basin.

How Great is our God! Indeed! How GREAT!

I just had to tell you all and I could absolutely dance a 3 legged jig!!!!!!!!!

Grany, How's the weather in Indiana this time of year? lol

When my friend was a missionary in Austria, her days were spent smuggling Bibles/medicine into then communist countries. Once she had an entire box of Bibles fall out of the van at a check point. There was an American flag on top. The driver picked up the flag stuck it in his glasses and began to sing, "Yankee Doodle Dandy." My friend picked up the bibles, put them back in the box, put the box in the van and sat on the box while the guards laughed at the antics of the driver. They never saw the Bibles.

She had even more amazing stories. And God protected her miraculously more than once.

She used code names for countries so we would know to pray extra hard. For instance, going into Romania, I'd get the message she was going to visit her cousin Charlie.

It doesn't take a lot of cleverness to pull it off.

We can hide in the shadow of His wings.

GT,

That was an excellent summary.

Scott,

Didn't know about Dinner Jacket & his drug use. I've been learning a little more about drugs as well as anti-depressants. They can open the mind up to demonic entities so who really knows why he's so sure it's his Allah given right to usher in the Mahdi? His confidence level leads me to believe that he's probably been in contact w/a supernatural entity filling his ear full.

As far as the internet security issue. Can't we come up w/a Christian "code" & still talk? I'm so sick of this whole thing that I'm more apt to just say come & get me than hide in the shadows from the Obaspy.

Yesterday I took the kids bowling & we were sharing the area w/another family of 3 boys. The mother came over to help me get the computer score machine set up.
One boy had a Metallica shirt on & the other two had on skull shirts.
The girls mentioned that there was some fowl language coming about from them.

When we were up in the video arcade after bowling I saw one of the boys (10?) & told Lorraine to go give him one of the prophecy booklets to give his mom.

She did-then a few minutes later he came back and said as he went to give it back "I don't know which one of you girls gave this to me but I know what you're doing-& this is a scam!" and set it down. He started to walk away & I called him back- "Hey, buddy it's not a scam-give it to your mom." Right then Lorraine (7)
chimes in confidently "Yeah, it's about how God is coming back soon to judge the world!" The boy picked it back up & left.

He still had it in his pocket as we left but what I was really proud of was Lorraine's boldness in speaking her mind.

I found an article on the Christian Bookstores topic.Christian bookstores reflect Christianity in America but what it reflects is the increasing apostasy.

I've always been leary about posting any personal info. Sometimes I have done it in spite of my concerns. So, Jim, are you saying that the info you have should be private rather than public?

Anne, I'm thinking that any web-based communications system is open to hacking and surveillance. On the one hand, there is enough data out there that if this internet spy bill becomes law, they'll be hard pressed to keep up with the present, existing flow of data. On the other hand, you can't count on someone not doing a historical search to see who was talking about what 5 years ago.

What the heck...

What I was talking about was information on hiding things around your house -- incriminating pamphlets and the like. There are things you can do that can let you hide things from a brief search. Like auto-theft deterrent devices, you can't keep someone from finding stuff you've hidden in the house; but you can make it too costly in time and effort for all but the most determined.

Medically it's being tested as a drug to get people off of other drugs. It's reported that one trip on Ibogaine can cause the user to instantly get off of LSD,Heroin, & others w/o any ill effects. One study tested it @ 50% positive.

This is a testimony of someone's trip @ a clinic under the effects of Ibogaine. The trip sounds like demonic entities to me.

I'm wondering if this drug did become the thing to do in order to get people hooked off of other drugs-would it become a super highway to demonic influences?

This is the drug Ahmadinijad reportedly used or uses.

just out of curiosity was the info stuff on you personal computer, cellphone and did you delete names, email addresses or what? just curious. I don't have names anywhere but I have collected quite a few email addresses.

How about coming up with a new name for UFO's? if they are indeed demonic apparitions-which I have no problem with btw since I also happen to believe that the ghosts that people "see" and "hunt" also happen to be demonic activity-they are neither unidentified nor are they indicative of life on other planets which is what most people mean when the talk of ufo's. ghosts, and ufo's ought to more properly be called demonic apparition objects

Concerning the UFO thing;

Jib you are right about the "ghosts" or "spirits" that these people claim to hunt. They are the same type of evil "entities" as the UFO entities. What is startling about both types of encounters are that they are similar in nature, so we know where they come from!

Another fact that seems to come out of these encounters is that most of the people that have the encounters have dabbled with the occult or new age at some time and most are still involved in new age ect.

These entities have one agenda and that is DECEPTION, and it seems to be working on most of the population! That is why I am a little more convinced that this deception will have something to do with "the great deception" that is coming, although I am not convinced that it will be the central theme of the great deception. What other agenda would all this have but to confuse, deceive, and lead people away from God and His Word and Truth. Satan is not going to come out and say "here I am", that is against his nature and tactics. Getting people to chase around and focus on "entities" is more his style!

Good Friday to Everyone:)

What a glorious week-end to celebrate.

Last night we had our first Passover Seder Meal with just our family. We talked to our kids about the differences we have as Christians to the meal ( for example instead of leaving the empty chair for Elijah to return, we would leave it for the 2nd coming of Christ, etc.) It was a very neat experience and our kids loved it. We learned so much. I just want to share with you some of the similarities from the Lord's Supper as it relates to the first Passover meal.

*Warning* this is kind-of lengthy but worth the read...enjoy how really awesome (or really, really cool -as my kids would say) God really is!!!!!

God told Moses for them to take the lamb 4 days before its slaughter. Christ entered Jerusalem on Sunday, 4 days before his crucifixion. Both took place on the 14th day of the month Abib.

Israelites were to sacrifice a male lamb on year old-in the prime of his life-when he was the strongest. Jesus was @ 33-pinnacle of earthly strength and maturity.

A male lamb was to be without blemish. Jesus is our example of perfection and sinlessness-w/o blemish.

Exodus 12:6 the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel were to kill their lambs. Everyone was to witness and be responsible for the death of the lamb. Just as we are all responsible for the death of Christ on the cross. It was our sins that crucified Him.

The blood of the lamb was to be put on the two doorposts and lintel so that they might be passed over when death came to Egypt. It is the blood of Christ that keeps us from everlasting death.

Lamb was to be roasted whole-no broken bones. Christ was crucified and died with no broken bones-even though the soldiers were sent out to break his leg bones-they never got the chance.

The Passover Meal was to be eaten with bitter herbs to remember the the bitter slavery and hardships in Egypt. During the Lord's Supper, we are to remember Christ's suffering and hardships.

The Israelites were to eat in haste with their shoes on, staff in their hand and ready to go, looking forward to their future as free men. We as Christians are to be ready to go-watching and waiting for Christ to come again-looking forward to our future in heaven as free men from sin.

We are to accept Christ as our Passover Lamb and let his blood protect us. WE are perpetually being saved from the destroying angel when we have Christ's blood on our doorposts.

Wow......fellow watchers fear not. Put on your full armor with confidence and go out and fight the good fight. I pray with all my heart that the empty chair at our supper table will be filled with His second coming soon or sooner:)

Easter Blessing to All,
Jenny

This is perfect for Good Friday!

The Tearing of the Veil in the Temple

Even though [the sacrificial system of the Jews] had not actually ended with the sacrifice of Christ, but had continued for another 40 years, it was believed that from the divine perspective it had in fact ended along with His rejection of the Temple as demonstrated by the tearing of the veil in the Temple at the time of the crucifixion (Matthew 27:51; Mark 15:38; Luke 23:45). According to this interpretation of the symbolism of this event, what was torn was the inner veil that separated the Holy Place from the Holy of Holies (Exodus 26:33), since this was the place where the atoning sacrifice was made. Even if this were the case, it need only symbolize that the spiritual (not ritual) barrier between God and man had been removed. However, there are three arguments against this meaning for the symbolism in this event:

1. A better case can be made for the veil that was torn being the outer veil that hung at the entrance doors to the Temple. One reason for this is that Mark’s account links this event with the response of the Roman centurion who watched Jesus die (Mark 15:39). While the text certainly links the soldier’s confession of Jesus as “the Son of God” (verse 39b) to the way he saw Jesus die (in full command of His spirit, verse 37; see also Luke 23:46-47), Mark nevertheless mentions the tearing of the Temple curtain in between his statements about Jesus’ final breath and the centurion’s declaration. If the centurion’s awestruck response includes his witnessing the rending of the veil, the only veil he could have seen “standing right in front of Jesus” (verse 39a) was the outer veil, since the inner veil was completely hidden from public view.

2. If we study this outer veil we have another clue as to what was symbolized by this event. The firs-century Jewish historian Flavius Josephus tells us that this outer curtain was an 80-foot-high embroidered Babylonian tapestry that depicted “a panorama of the entire heavens” (Jewish Wars 5.5.4 §§212-14). The significance of this for the symbolism here is unmistakable, especially in view of the fact that both the Matthean and Markan accounts specify that the direction of the tear in this curtain was “from top to bottom.” This has been recognized by almost all commentators to symbolize the divine reaction “from heaven to earth.” Therefore, we have Temple itself (which represented God’s presence) dramatically symbolizing heaven’s (the divine) response to the death of Jesus.

3. While other motifs of “rending” have been suggested, the Jewish context suggests that the one most common and universally recognized by a Jewish audience was the rending of garments as an official expression of extreme emotion such as grief or outrage (Judges 11:35; 2 Kings 19:1; Job 1:20; 2:12; Acts 14:14; 16:22). And because of the nature of the garment, the specific direction of tearing in this custom is from the “top to the bottom.” It is significant that in the very same context of the Passion narrative, during Jesus’ trial, the high priest “tore his garment” in response to Jesus’ self-confession (which the high priest called “blasphemy”) as the divine “Son of Man” of Daniel 7:13 (see Matthew 26:64-65; Mark 15:62-63). Putting together these details, I suggest that the rending of the veil symbolized the Temple’s (heaven’s) response to the blasphemy of the Jewish leadership who delivered Jesus to the Gentiles (“wicked men who crucified the Lord of glory,” see Acts 2:23; see also 3:15; 7:52). As such, it serves as an ironic contrast to the high priest (who represented the Temple), as does the Gentile Roman soldier’s statement of belief (Luke 23:47) to that of the Jewish high priest’s statement of blasphemy. Accordingly, the very Temple that the Temple establishment claimed Jesus wanted to destroy and that formed their accusation (along with His divine confession) for His condemnation (Mark 14:58), stood against them as a witness to Jesus.

Before it is noon, I have to say "God's Good Morning from Okieland" to all of you wonderful believers. I have caught up with all the comments and seems everyone is flying right on course. All I know is this, God is still on His Throne and All is right in the Kingdom.

I started realizing early this morning that I was just a little bit spooked when we were talking about SepsisBOOnitis and I want to clarify my remarks. I have been pretty upfront with location, names and such but this might be unwise for many reasons. We never know who might try to turn that info into a scam/con attempt. However, I would like to remind anyone reading my comments and thinking "Ah ha, perfect sucker!" Better think again buster! He who guards Israel never slumbers or sleeps" and His Angel
s who guard Grany don't either. There is Grany and hubby and 40,000 more. Has to be in order to keep us healthy and out of trouble. Just walking on a flat surface is a mine field with Grunt (that's me) and Groan (that's hubby). He groans because I grunt. But there are a lot of things I will not be sharing because it could lead someone into mischief and I don't want that.

Early this morning I woke up dreaming and the complete conversation of the dream escapes me now but the subject I remember well. The person I was talking to in the dream was Jesus and he was telling me that fear is the exact opposite of faith and belongs to the kingdom of darkness. That as the days do grow more threatening and start rapidly to fulfill prophecy, God's Holy Spirit will be poured out on all of us beyond anything we have ever experienced or even thought possible. We are not to become fearful because then we weaken the anointing that is in all of us. Fear is contagious and we don't want to infect others. Prayer is our major weapon combined with the Word of God.

As the time grows closer to the revealing of the Antichrist, The outpouring of the Holy Spirit will dramatically increase. All of the things BOO is letting out as "going to do this or that" are forms of terrorizing our freedoms. We have constitutional rights and along about now, his correction is started. His correction will not come from the world or its' systems, it will come from Almighty God and not allah either. There is no way I am going to capitalize allah! I did not make a typo, I did a deliberate-O ~ @;p

Now you can believe this or not, doesn't change one iota of what I have said. If you have problems with Jesus talking to you or me, too bad! John 10 tells me that His (Jesus) sheep know His (Jesus) voice and will follow none other. In these last days of this Age, and yes, I do believe in dispensationalism, the Church Age is fast coming to completeness. But we don't go whimpering into the shadows or defeated either. No weapon that is formed against us shall prosper, as God's word promises us. But HE(God) shall complete in us what HE has started and he already knows what plans he has for all of us. We have to stand firm no matter what the laws say and if the Holy Scriptures say it is a sin, then SIN it is! No backing down and no retreating.

Fire the torpedoes and full speed ahead!

On UFO's. I am absolutely convinced they are demonic in nature. Many people have seen them slip into the ocean without a sound! I do not believe they are space aliens. Imagine, however, the possibility of mother ships hanging over our major cities in every country. These entities can tell humans they are the missing link. They put their dna in us to make us evolve completley from the ape man. They are the reason for all of the world religions. Imagine all of the people of the world in awe and wonder of what they see! Some of the churches of today have already proclaimed that, if there is alien life out there, they are our brothers! So they would be confronted with these entities that are "superior" in strength and intelligence. The humans of this world would automatically deduct them as being gods. Then suppose they appoint one man to represent manking to them as Christ represented us to G-d! How easily would people fall for it? I am not saying that is the way it will happen, but it very well can. If anyone is interested in reading more about it, you can visit another website of Lynn Marzulli click here This is his blog and you will read some very interesting thoughts on the topic. Also, if you go to his home page, he has some really good books available. I personally recommend "Politics, Prophecy, and the Supernatural." He also has a good free radio program on Thursdays.
As for our privacy, there is no privacy anymore. Erasing information from your computer does not remove it. If they want to find it bad enough, they will. Our only covering is the Lord. He said that the children of Israel is a sign to us in the last days. We could very well find ourselves wandering in the desert to survive what is coming on this earth, and to get away from people trying to force us to flee G-d. If we are, it is not a time to be frightened! Abba Father will care for us like He did the children of Israel! However,if that day comes, it is probably wise not to take computers, cellphones, gps, or anything that can be used to trace you! Just some wisdom! Just turning on one of these devices gives someone the opportunity to track you down!
As for Passover! It is so awesome! I am at a loss for words that we as the church have never celebrated these holidays in recent years. We know the disciples did, and probably the church for the first 500 years, but the Nicene creed did away with all of it. We have missed out on so much! What it is and what it represents is so beautiful! Our church had just the Passover part of the dinner last Wednesday night and tonight my husband and I are going to a full dinner we are having with some friends. I could do it over and over, it is so wonderful! If you do not know how to celbrate these days in a Messianic way I sugges a book called A family Guide to the Biblical Holidays with activities for all ages. It is by Robin Sampson and Linda Pierce. It has some wonderful print outs for the kids, recipes, and scriptures to read on the holidays! You can usually find it on Amazon.com used books. New it will run around $45, but you can usually get it from the used books for around $20!
One last thing. Ahmadenajab has been previously named "I'm in a jihad!"

Granny, I had to laugh at your post about the tornadoes! I use to live in Amarillo Texas and I hated the time of year they would start up! If I never live there again, it will be too soon! I have a full-blooded Jewish friend who is a believer in Y'shua. He was visiting friends in Georgia a couple of years ago. A storm had come up and they were outside trying to "catch" things and put them up before they blew away. All of a sudden he said they heard a great noise like a train. They turned around and saw a tornado coming right at them! They all ran for the basement and started screaming for everyone to take cover. He felt led to pray against it. He started walking toward the fence where it was coming and praying with his hands up against it. One of the women there started screaming at him "Are you crazy?" She kept yelling at him over and over. He turned and looked at her and asked her if she was crazy! She looked astonished and said no. He said "yes you are when you call the things of the Lord crazy! Lady YOU better hide!" With that he turned back around toward the approaching tornado. He raised his hands and said "Y'shua rebuke you." Then he was praying "Abba Father you know we are your children. We need you now to take care of us and move this tornado." The tornado turned and went all the way around the houses in their immediate area! I guess the lady didn't think he was so crazy after all! LOL!

Shalom, all! Last night I made reference to hiding things around the house. These techniques are simple and won't protect whatever you're hiding from a concerted effort; but they should protect against a quick search through your house or apartment.

First of all, what to hide: if you think you might have the possibility of leaving the country (maybe going to Israel), you'll need to have your passport ready and available and in a place where you can grab quickly on the run. If you aren't planning on any travel that requires you passport, you may want to bring it with anyway, just in case. It is a form of government ID, and if you leave it behind there's always the possibility that someone might find it and use your good name for bad purposes.

Next, you'll need some traveling cash. In an emergency, don't count on ATMs or cash registers to work. If the power is out, credit cards and bank cards won't work, and many stores (the ones that are open) will only take cash. What I recommend is having at least one packet of $200, using the following amounts and denominations: 5-$20, 6-$10, 6-$5, and 10-$1. I wouldn't worry about change; although it might be useful to bring two $10 rolls of quarters.

Now, where to hide the money / bible tracts / names and addresses:

Building a Book Safe This is one of a couple of projects on "Instructables" on building secret places in books. Many of the projects are along the lines of hiding your ipod, etc. Be sure to read the comments after the article -- there are some good ideas there. Also, be careful: if you're like me, this web site can be a bigger time waster than YouTube. When trying to find some of the articles I had forgotten to bookmark, I ran across things like knitting or crocheting plastic grocery bags to make larger, stronger bags -- something I'll try as soon as I learn to crochet.

How To Make a Secret Hollow Book I like the pictures in this one better than the first one -- much clearer. One idea I got from the comments after this was how to make this more secure, by having a second secret compartment. Make the well as described, but only cut half-way down. Re-measure and cut a smaller well inside the first one. Use felt or velvet to line the sides of the upper well. Cut a piece of stiff cardboard to fit snuggly over the lower well, then put felt or velvet over that. What you'll have is a secret place within a secret place, with a cover that will take some force to open. Put the stuff you really want to hide in the lower well, cover with the piece of cardboard, then put $20-$30 in the upper part along with some junk jewelery. If someone starts going through your house and starts shaking out the books to find your "hiding place", they'll find the $30 and the cheap jewelery, and stop looking.

Top Secret Bottle Stash This looks REALLY good, but I'm afraid my fridge is too small to have a whole bottle of pop in there that I wouldn't use.

Other ways to hide things:

1. Wrap money/documents/whatever in plastic and put in an opened box of baking soda in the fridge.

2. Kitty litter: Even if you don't have a cat, you can keep a large bag or two of kitty litter (the cheap kind) in your garage. Again, wrapping your stuff in plastic, you can bury it in the kitty litter and no one will think anything of it. Just make sure to remember which bag to use when you need to soak up oil from your garage floor.

3. On one of your doors inside the house, unscrew the hinge plate from the door frame. You should be able to hollow out a small space that would be covered by the hinge plate. Put what you want to hide in there and screw the hinge plate back on.

4. If your PC stands on the floor, you can undo the thumb screws, remove the cover, and tape an envelope inside the cover. Make sure you don't tape anything over any vents, and only do this if the PC is something you can access fairly easily.

Remember that if you DO choose to do any of these things, make sure someone knows about them! Your wife, you children -- someone who can access this stuff if needed and you're not around. If you write the locations down, try to code it so that only your trusted person can understand it.

Blessings to all on this Good Friday.

I would like to express my thanks to all of you here in the cave. I participated in a community service this morning, with about 160 people present. I had the privilege of speaking from John 18:33-40 where Pilate is talking with Jesus. The whole thing about this discussion is whether Jesus was a king or not.

The links here to the night of passover being the night of coronation for an Israelite king was new to me, but became an essential part of my sermon. It brought further confusion and concern to Pilate, but in the end he stopped worrying if his position was threatened. His final test, of course was offering Barabbas to the people. Did they desire a spiritual kingdom, or a physical one. They chose Barabbas the revolutionary, and that was something Pilate knew how to deal with.

Pilate recognized Jesus as King, he just did not bring it home to his heart.

I have a busy next few days as my family is coming by, and I have much to prepare for Sunday message, but God bless you all.

Serving the Lord together,
Wayne.

You know I can't comment on anything CIA-related, except to say the idea is patently absurd. As far as hiding your house, I can't say. However, by typing "furniture secret hiding" into Google, I came up with a bunch of listings:

HideADoor.com Here is some absolutely beautiful wall shelving that acts as a doorway to a hidden room or closet. You've got to see to believe. They also sell "Sneaky Cans", those cans of cleaner, beer, etc. that are actually hiding places.

False Bottom Productions Again, absolutely beautiful furniture, handcrafted, with a variety of hidden compartments available. They also sell fire safe pouches designed to fit in most of their hidden compartments.

Big Book of Secret Hiding Places by Jack Luger

Diversion Can Stash Safes This page has all sorts of "safe cans" including wall clock safes, pillow safes, book safes (but for $20 and some elbow grease, I'll make my own) and some other neat things.

Finally, there is a book on Amazon called "Constructing Secret Hiding Places" for $12, but don't waste your money. It's available as a free PDF.

A Hypothetical Question

We all know that Christians in various locales around the world are currently experiencing persecution, tribulation and even martyrdom. Things are heating up around the world and (IMO) this is well before the last 7 years of Daniel.

For the sake of this exercise, let’s assume for the moment that we all agree the church will go through the 7 year tribulation.

Leaving aside the gathering and stocking up of supplies, in what ways would you spiritually prepare for possible torture and martyrdom. Would you be doing anything different to what you are already doing now, in your relationship with the Lord, if you knew you were going to be martyred or persecuted in a few years?

Anne said...

Excellent question, Mac! Several things come to mind right off, such as spending far more time in prayer, especially for those I know who don't know Him. I would be praying for God to open up ways to witness to them...no change that, I already do that. I would be pleading with God day and night.

I would be preparing myself and my family for what is to come. I would be talking and encouraging those close to me, reading scripture about how those close to God held up. I would also be reading books about martyrs in the past.

I would be memorizing scripture more faithfully.

I'm sure there are other things.

Mac, thank you for asking this question, because the big question, for me anyway is shouldn't I increase these efforts even now??

diana said...

Mac;
Thanks for asking that question. That is something for all of us to think on.
Personally, I feel that the Lord has been changing and preparing more this last year and especially right now. A dear sister in the Lord had commented on my blog about how the Lord had "set my heat on Him". That made me cry. It is the Lord who does this in us. I seem to love Him more each day and feel He is preparing me for something. I teach my older children about what is to come and I don't hide things from them. They are 12 and 15, old enough to understand. There are children this age in other parts of the world who have been martyred already.
This is defenetly something to be thinking on and it seems the Lord is already preparing so many of our fellow believers all over the world.

MAC, if I thought I was going to go through the 7 year tribulation I would want to learn how to really "lean on the Lord" instead of 1/2 way. I would be more concerned about everyone else instead of single minded worry about my household. As long as I remained focused on "just us" I would be more apt to become fearful of pain. Focusing on others will change that. During the Great Depression, many families went to bed hungry and crying. From house to house, people would go sharing and caring for the less fortunate ones and in doing that, they weren't as aware of their own needs. The pretty yards became gardens and people shared. Hobo's came to homes all over the country and meals were freely shared. Even clean clothes were given and many times, the opportunity to afford them the luxury of a bath was also a common offer. You see, most of the men who were considered Hobo's were just men going from place to place trying to find work. I won't try to tie a tag of any kind on them because we don't really know for sure. But they wanted to work to feed their children.

So, getting my senses intune with others needs, praying more diligently, and seeking the Lord's guidance and provisions would definitely be paramount in my daily life. However, it is important NOW to get His Word planted totally in us so that it just flows out in any and all circumstances. Being a doer of the world and not a hearer only.

Marge said...

Mac,
After reading your question, I thought of the song,

Just a Closer Walk With Thee.

I believe that Anne, Diana and Grany pretty well covered the answer :)

So, another question comes to mind.

What if Jesus came to live at your house, for say, a week?

Because according to the Bible, when we are saved, the Holy Spirit comes to make His home in us. Not to begin splitting hairs over the Trinity, either :) But really, would we be acting any differently? Maybe not watching (or reading) certain programs/material? Anyhow, just something to think about, along with your question.

Alesia,
I finished Ted Dekker's book, Kiss.
Maybe not his best book, IMO, but very good. It gets into the area of mind altering drugs, and their possible side effects. And one that I'd never thought about before, too. It's interesting!
Sept. 1, 2009 another book will be released, and another new book out Jan. 1, 2010, by Ted Dekker. It appears he's been busy :)

Everyone,
Have a wonderful Resurrection Sunday!

A site that I highly recommend is WHY DO THEY CALL IT GOOD FRIDAY?

and there is a beautiful link at the end of the article that you might want to enjoy also.

Hubby just came out to ask me Why do they call it Good Friday if Jesus was killed on that day? He normally starts this kind of conversation when he desires to draw me into a dispute. So, instead of enabling the quarrel to take place, I sent him this material to read on his own. He is doing everything he can to disavow Jesus as God's Son and I am the target of DH's wrath. Anyone out there need a spare antichrist?

ah well this will likely get lost in the shuffle

I would do all that others (in fact Anne pretty much mentioned everything I was going to say so I had to come up with something else :-) )have mentioned but I also think it would be important to have a network in place to aid in survival of the saints-we know not all the tribulation saints will be martyred and that some will survive. I doubt it would be technically possible to have something in place such as was written about in the fiction books of the Left Behind series but you never know.

Marge
hmm, would we all be on our company behavior-watching language, more heavily monitoring what we did and said, watching our actions and then unfortunately after He left breathe a sigh of relief because now we can be ourselves again? I would hope not because Christ is in our homes with us at all times.

does anyone have any thoughts on besetting sins? do they exist, do you have one, how do you deal with it etc

Grany

you are too funny.

it's called Good Friday I suspect because Christ's death on the cross is the ultimate good although Satan meant it for ill and it was an absolutely horrific thing for Christ to go through. Without His death we would be lost and have no chance of fellowshipping with God now or ever and it is also the ultimate expression of love both on the part of the Father and the Son. God gave his Son to die because of love and Christ died for all his enemies which takes great love. Christ's death is a good thing.

Grany, No Thanks, we have enough in Florida.

Want to throw him off the trail for a while? Tell him we should be celebrating Good Thursday instead.

Jesus was crucified on Passover, Thursday.

Either day, his death was a good thing for us, the alternative is dreadful.

Mac, I'm praying more than I ever have. I'm also trying to spend more time reading the Bible, I want to recognize His voice when he calls me up.

One thing that's helping me is the thought that if I died tonight, How do I want to be remembered? For being kind and showing Christ's love or being mean and ornery?

If I never told you before, I had a crappy childhood. My family was in the Mafia. I was kidnapped at 7 years old. It took my mom several months (almost a year) to find me and my siblings. Although it really stunk and I didn't like it, I didn't know any different.

My Grandma and my Aunt left such an impression on me. No matter what happens in this life, no matter how mean someone can become, I will always remember the kindness extended by those two.

That's the legacy I want to leave behind.

It's really that kind of legacy that can lead folks to Christ.

Gee Lori, that is quite a background! YOur mother must have been frantic. I have so many questions about it all...but I guess it will have to wait.

I do think He uses these experiences to mold us into who He wants us to be.

Doesn't make it much easier!

Grany we will be praying for Jim. Some people who are so opposed to Him, wind up being the strongest for Him in the end. Look what happened with Paul...and Loris Uncle Bob.

All we can do is hold him up in prayer: we pray that He will soften Jim's heart and open his eyes! In Jesus's name, amen!
