Happy Resurrection Day!

People say the cross is a sign of how much man is worth. That’s not true. The cross is a sign of how depraved we really are, that it took the death of God’s own Son. The only thing that could save a people like us was the death of God’s own Son under the wrath of His own Father paying the price, rising again from the dead. Powerful to say, this is the Gospel of Jesus. — Paul Washer

(Thought you would like this story from Heaven's Family.)

Evangelist Sang Bel

Evangelist Sang Bel has a reputation among many Christians in Myanmar. They say, "Don't ever give Sang Bel money if you want to bless him, because he always gives it away to someone whom he thinks is more needy."

For that reason, a friend of mine arranged for Sang Bel to preach in many churches in the former capital city of Yangon, sharing about his anointed adventures as he has proclaimed the gospel in very remote places for the past decades. My friend then guarded the offerings that were given in those churches, and eventually used them to build Sang Bel a modest home to replace the shack he and his family were living in. It wasn't enough, however, to build interior stairs to the second floor, and now, ten years later, there is still a ladder standing in the main room that connects the first floor with the second floor through a hole in the ceiling. Sang Bel, who is sixty years old, climbs up and down that ladder every day when he is home.

Sitting in his first floor room, I asked Sang Bel about that ladder, and why he still doesn't have stairs. He replied, "The Lord hasn't sent the money yet." His wife looked at me with a knowing glance that said, "The Lord has sent the money many times, but he always gives it away."

Sang Bel is a pioneer evangelist in Chin State, and he's preached many times to very primitive people in remote villages who have never heard about Jesus. He told me that some were so primitive that they were "half-naked." (I told him he should consider coming to America to preach.)

Sang Bel usually travels by foot, unable to afford any other kind of transportation, and mountain footpaths are often the only routes to his preaching points. He's lived by faith for forty years and has often been away from home preaching for two months at a time. His life has been threatened by hostile villagers, but the Lord has been faithful to deliver him.

Through our Native Missionaries Fund, Sang Bel now has a monthly sponsor named Gary in Alabama whom he will one day meet in heaven. That monthly help came at a providential time, as Sang Bel has had to slow down somewhat due to a minor stroke that he's suffered. But he is still amazingly active, preaching locally and remotely, calling people to repent and follow Jesus. Take a good look at his photo above. None of us will likely see him in heaven, as he'll be so near to Jesus!

Grany,

I believe your dream was Lord given.

Here is another Christian w/a similar intrepertaion from L.A.Marzulli's blog named Hector:

i know ive commented TONS on the “black awakening”…
so, id just like to share something that the Lord showed me this morning in prayer-
God has his own “Light Awakening” in store for this earth-
whereby as times get tougher and tougher, he has people specially prepared for such a time as this-
and he will bring HIS LIGHT and FIRE into the darkness,
and his people will do great exploits for the Lord empowered by his Spirit!

the Lord showed me that the “black awakening” is merely a watered-down imitation of what God does through his followers…
When God moves by his Spirit, the enemy has NO IDEA what hit him!
When one of Gods anointed does something under the Unction and Power of the Holy Spirit,

stronghold are pulled down,

mountains (principalities) are removed,

fallen angels quake in their space boots!

Lori
interesting that you brought up Christ dying on thursday and not friday. we are listening to a rather in depth discussion by Frucht on Pesach and he made the comment that it is against rabbinical law and Jewish custom to have Seder on Monday, Wednesday or Friday (he didn't explain why except to say it couldn't be done). Christ celebrated seder with the 12 the night he was betrayed and the night before he was crucified. do we take into account the figuring of time difference? (Jewish days are from sunset to sunset)

Here is my two cents on the hypothetical question I posed in the last post.

Firstly I think ALL the feedback was VERY good and I think we collectively know the answer. Marge, I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head when you wrote:

”Just a Closer Walk With Thee.”

I personally think that foreknowledge of any impending tribulation does little to prepare us. I suspect that we all greatly underestimate the gravity of Daniel’s last week and we could be unexpectedly called to tribulation etc long before it even happens. It’s our daily walk in the Lord and building of our faith in Him that’s important not our anticipatory planning.

Php 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Php 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

A Happy Resurrection Day to all.

FLORIDA COURT SETS ATHEIST HOLY DAY:

In Florida, an atheist created a case against the Upcoming Easter andPassover days. He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination caseagainst Christians, Jews and observances of their holy days. The argumentwas that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized days. Thecase was brought before a judge. After listening to the passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judgebanged his gavel declaring, "Case dismissed!" The lawyer immediately stoodobjecting to the Ruling, "Your honor, how can you possibly dismissthis case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter and others. The Jews havePassover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah, yet my client and all other atheists haveno such holidays." The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, "But you do. Your client, counsel, is woefully ignorant." The lawyer said, "Your Honor, we are unawareof any special observance or holiday for atheists." The judge said, "The calendar says April 1st is April Fools Day. Psalm 14:1 states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.' Thus, it is theopinion of this court, that if your client says there is no God, then he isa fool. Therefore, April 1st is his day... Court is adjourned.

(I'm sure it's just a fictitious story but the Scriptural conclusion is 100% true!)

Today is and has been very stormy in Texas and Oklahoma, plus many others. Late last night the lights kept blinking off and on so I just went to bed. No sense me staying up with God watching out for us. We got up this morning to rolling thunder the likes of which I have only heard one other time. It was constant for over 90 minutes and the rains came, kept on coming, and finally someone turned off the spigot. We needed the rain and now we can get through the rest of spring without the water sources going dry.

All of you, have a wonderful day to remember How Great is Our God's Love for Us All.

JERUSALEM, 18 NISAN
A report circulating through parts of the city this morning that the tomb of Jesus of Nazareth, crucified by the Romans just three days ago, was found empty has left people amazed and fearful. The Roman Procurator and the leading religious officials of the Holy Temple released a statement condemning this rumor and calling on the populace to stop spreading such stories. While the Temple spokesperson refused to confirm or deny the rumor, he did confirm that some members of the Temple guard were being disciplined for sleeping while on watch, although the spokesperson said this was a matter unrelated to the rumored empty tomb. A ranking member of the Sanhedrin, speaking anonymously because he was not authorized to speak to the press, noted that if in fact the tomb was empty, it was likely that the body was stolen. This same member also called on the population of Jerusalem not to spread "baseless rumors," and to remain calm in the light of potential action by the Roman garrison.

Attempts to contact members of the Nazorean's "inner circle" to clarify the situation were unsuccessful. There are reports the members have gone into hiding; however, some witnesses have reported seeing some of the members running to and from the tomb, appearing happy or dazed. Others have reported seeing the Nazorean alive in different parts of Jerusalem, although there are official reports that he died during crucifixion. At press time, one report reached Jerusalem that two of his followers met the Nazorean while traveling to Emmaus; however, this report cannot be confirmed and the witnesses are considered unreliable, due to their previous relationship with the Nazorean.

Further details will be released as they become available.

Her husband had a stroke back in October and has more or less recovered (some days more, some days less) from that but she is worried about him being by himself also. she is on iv medication to hopefully keep her from having the big one and to delay surgery until tomorrow. repeat bypasses are always a bit hairy. they are very long, very tedious operations. she is in her 70's somewhere-early may be ? because she is still working (long story) but I know her husband is early 80's. their kids are pretty much useless to them and a big financial and emotional drain to them as well. Mac, I just LOVED your question in the first place. Also loved your response here.

It really got me thinking and acknowledging that God has been leading me in this direction for some time. I shared it with my hubby and he found it quite thought provoking.

I have stored up some supplies and when doing so, realized how ill-equipped that would leave me if that was all I did.

Yes, closer to the Lord. Pray, even when you are tired. Pray, trusting that God is putting everything in motion on behalf of those being prayed for.

Pray especially for those who do not know the Lord. Pray for God's direction and fellowship in everything. Pray that you hear His voice and walk in the direction He is wanting you to go.

Walk in the Word of God. Think on it, memorize it (not the easiest thing for me).

Obey. Clear the junk out. Nothing matters more than uninterrupted fellowship with the Lord. Hear what the Lord is telling you not what the world is pitching about what to expect in the future.

Trust Him, He is faithful.

Step out, forget any fear and reach out to those who God has put in your life and tell them about Jesus and share the Gospel.

A big one for me lately is to trust in the goodness of God. He is for me and will not give up on me.

Praying for all the requests here.

We took my Mother in law to church yesterday and she really listened. Please pray that seeds made it below the surface!

regarding transnationalism-Beck has been harping about that for the last couple of weeks. his Friday show last week was supposed to have something to do with fascism, transnationalism etc. I have yet to have the time to watch it.

Anyone else been reading Joel's new book? I just finished the middle part of it on the reformer's-those muslims who do want Jeffersonian democracy and I think we are too quick to dismiss their claims. while I don't believe Islam is a religion of peace (they actually do) I am however fascinated by the prophetic implications of the reformer camp. Jordan, Morocco, Iraq and Afghanistan all have reformers in charge of the governments even though 2 of them are kings. if these 4 men stay in power I find it very doubtful that these 4 nations will come against Israel. the reformer section was quite fascinating. the comment that was made by some one I think in the Moroccan government is that the reason Hezbollah ended up in charge in Gaza and the reason that Egypt also is a dictatorship instead of a democracy is that both were rushed and pressured into being a democracy without the appropriate infrastructure. One made the comment to look for changes in Egypt's government in the near future-seems the current ruler in Egypt is having difficulty establishing his son as the heir apparent. which is all to say that there are very powerful forces in the ME who do think Islam is the way but not jihad and disavow jihad. I foresee that the reformers will be in more full control in the ME after Ez 38-39

LOL! I kept wondering who Bo was. Then it hit me! I had to laugh! They are getting a dog soon and guess what his name is! Bo! LOL! That is too funny!
As for Christians learning their idientity, there is a website called Brit am. click here They have a lot of articles about the lost tribes moving north into England, Scotland and Ireland, and Scandinavia. It fulfills the blessing Jacob gives his grandson Ephraim saying his seed would be dispersed into the entire world. They believe that is why all of the coat of arms have symbols on them. The tribes all had symbols that represented each tribe, so they took that knowledge with them and created their coat of arms. Many of those people have migrated to America. In Ezekiel chapter 37 God tells Ezekiel to take two sticks in his hands and write on one Ephraim and the other Judah. Then it says that God will make the two sticks one in His hand. Many people believe we are in that portion of prophecy now. Hence, the explosion of Christians interested in their Hebraic roots, and Jewish people coming to believe in Y'shua/Jesus. It's pretty neat information!

Christine,

I have not come to a dogmatic conclusion on the "two sticks" view although I have to admit that we should not be literal in one area of interpretation then spiritualize it in another unless it's obvious.

Let me just say that last week when I briefly looked into it I prayed that night for God to show me if this was true or not. In that prayer I had imagined two sticks. As was praying- one of the sticks turned into a snake.

I'm not going to say it was a God given warning but it did leave an impression to proceed w/caution.

At this point in time I don't see how that view of the two sticks would lead to something negative as I do see certain Christians & Jewish Believers coming together in our day. Especially in my own Church circle. I don't think that Gentile believers have a claim to the land of Israel though.

We have the entire globe to rule & reign so who cares about one speck of land deeded to the original Jewish descendants? If Yahweh wants me there-I'll be there. If it's somewhere else then great. (San Diego transformed into a Garden of Eden wouldn't be 1/2 bad! I'll happily come back (: No more tumbleweeds & rattle snakes!)

Here is a differing view of the "two sticks".

Has anyone else looked into this yet? It's certainly an intriguing concept.

When extremely low, it can seriously affect brain function and make a person delirious. If not treated, a person will eventually die from lack of thyroid hormone.

I almost died from low thyroid when I was 11 years old. They looked for brain tumors and even considered the possibility that I had lost my mind and simply needed a psychiatrist. Thanfully, my mother insisted they keep looking for some other medical causes. Eventually, and endocrinologist took a look at me and ordered a thyroid hormone level blood test.

In answer to Lisa's question about the 2 sticks; Dr. Fruchtenbaum has an excellent teaching on the subject. Not free but very inexpensive. The other topic has this info on his Q & A segment at ariel.org

QUESTION: Can you please tell me if you think the Two-House theology has any scriptural foundation?
ANSWER: The whole Ephraim heresy is simply a reworking of the old British Israelite theory with a different twist, but it is just as wrong and just as unhistorical as it can be. It presupposes that there are ten lost tribes of Israel but these were never lost and the doctrine makes many other presuppositions and faulty exegesis that are simply not true. It is simply a movement of a group of Jewish wannabes but has no historical validity and even worse, it has no exegetical validity of any biblical text. It is one of those new movements that seem to have become prominent among different groups who want to claim Jewish origins or Israelite origins. It is a recently discovered "truth" that nobody else knew for 2,000 years. Getting involved with that will take you away from the Bible and not to it, so you can safely ignore that whole cultic element."

I find it odd that we worry about 10 tribes being lost in this day and age when all of the material we have posted here at the cave has proven it be a rather silly idea. If God never sleeps or slumbers, He never looses track of people either. They are, after all, the Apples of His Eye and His protection is still with them. Besides, in Ezekiel it states that he will draw them all out of every nation for the final show down. First drawing will be in unbelief and actually anger with God because of the Holocaust; then in restoration of faith and trust because of His provisions and protection. We are seeing the first drawing right now; Ez. 38 and 39 will create the 2nd Spiritual return.

Those dry bones are going to live again in all of the Glory of God, just as he has told us.

From the site linked below:

A few weeks ago, one of our (obviously intelligent) readers, David, asked a great question: If Jesus seeks to bring about the restoration of Israel, then what happens to God’s promise to gather the lost tribes of Israel back to the land (cf. Isa 11; Ezek 37; Mic 4, etc.)? Is this promise simply abandoned? Or does the New Testament “over-spiritualize the gospel” (David’s words) it by referring it to the heavenly Jerusalem (e.g., Heb 12)? As he said, “Doesn’t there have to be a bit more to it than that?”

Yes, there is a bit more to it than that.
You can read the rest of the article here. The Lost Tribes of Israel, the Promised Land, and the New CreationIt's fairly brief.

Please pray for my wife and me and our precious son. Yesterday we had my mom and step dad over for Easter dinner. My mom again had several veiled criticisms of us adopting our son. I have no doubt that our son is a gift from the Lord. It's a story of God's grace and provision how he brought him into our lives. But, my mom and step dad have never accepted this. Basically, they feel we were too old and they are critical of the fact that Daniel is "an only child." My mom attempts to slide her commentary into conversation in a gracious way but her comments are just hurtful. On top of that, my DW has been struggling with my DS's (dear son's) strong will and misbehavior. He 2 and a half. I'm sure that explains most of it. He's full of passion (both good and bad). The Lord's hand is on him. I'm confident of that.

So, last night my wife woke me up in the middle of the night because she couldn't sleep and was tormented by my mom's comments and criticisms (as well as some from her own mom). She is under attack and frankly I think we all are. Anyway, I'd ask that you pray that the Lord give us peace and wisdom on:

(1) how to appropriately discipline our DS. I don't want to be too harsh or too lenient. There are bad consequences either way. He definitely knows we love him. Just the other evening when I was putting him down and he was almost asleep, he looked up at me and said, "Dad, I love you." Wow, that sure melted my heart. It also made me realize how much God loved the world when he gave up his only begotten son for us. It totally blows my mind now that I'm a dad.

2.) Please pray that the Lord give me wisdom on how to deal with my mom and step dad. I want to protect my wife and son.

I know what Dr.Laura would say. She's a Jewish talk radio host-have you heard of her?

She would tell you to speak to your Mom & Step dad & tell them if they can't be civil & polite when they come over to your home & refrain from all negative comments regarding your son & family then they will no longer be invited over-nor will you go over to their home w/your wife & son.

You're still to be polite & can meet them on neutral ground-(restaurant for lunch, their home solo...) & call your mom to check in about her welfare but it's not fair to your wife & son to have to endure that type of behavior. Basically in resorting to limited & controlled contact-you're protecting your family.

Anyway-that's what she would say. I'll pray for divine guidance though.

James 1:5
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

thanks for asking and I certainly hope Nate's back is better than my foot. not broken, still hurts, took the boot off Saturday because I thought it was making my foot worse and it felt better yesterday until today. the shot that was placed today was extremely painful and the docs comment was that it should not be that painful with such a small shot. he's given me shots before and even done office procedures on me but this was by far and way the worst thing ever. I am getting a second opinion next week out of town (long story). I also found a Christian pain management group and will likely get an appt to see them also. I have had chronic pain in this foot since 1997 and I'm tired of it. It is also affecting me at work. I have a temper anyway and the recent increase in pain and my frustration over my foot has shortened my fuse considerably and has landed me in considerable trouble with the hospital. I struggle with it and when things are going well, getting sleep, not in a lot of pain I really don't have issues but if one thing gets out of balance look out because i take no prisoners. Of all the disciples i consider myself to be most like it would have to be Peter. So I asked for and got an answer from God as to what I was missing and how did Peter make his transformation. We'll see how well it goes into practice.

how's your back?

as the mother of a strong willed son (just after he was born my mom chuckled and said our household was going to be really interesting with 3 strong willed people in it) here's what as helped us

1-be consistent. you have to punish the offense every time. it can't be cute one time and wrong another time.

2-be connected. you and your wife have to be on the same page with discipline. you have to be united with the things you consider wrong and what the punishment is to be.

3-be caring and compassionate. after punishing our son I always gathered him up in my arms and sat and cuddled with him awhile to let him know that I still loved him a great deal and i would talk to him about why what he did was wrong.

4-spanking is permissible for the 2 d's-danger and defiance. if it was a behavior for which our son could be badly injured or killed he got a single swat on his tail end more to get his attention and to emphasize this was not a good behavior. if the behavior continued after other means such as time out a single swat again-not with much force and you are only trying to get attention focused on you. reasoning does not work on a 3 year old

5-do not delay punishment. I can't tell you the number of evil looks i have gotten for putting my son into time out in the middle of the store. if the punishment is not applied immediately following the event they have no idea why they are being punished. however he is now pretty well behaved. he has his moments though but not as frequent. we generally get compliments from others on how well behaved he is and how refreshing it is that he didn't behave like a hooligan.

6-timeout's were and are applied for 1 minute per year of age. we also did the counting thing.

7-behavior way out of control. stop what you are doing and leave regardless of what it is. this one takes a lot of fortitude and is by far and away the hardest. Acting up in a restaurant-one of you leaves with son and the other finishes dinner or you can wait until they get control over themselves and go back in. (been there done that) we packed to leave a mini vacation the day after we got there because son's behavior was so atrocious with a couple of continuous tantrums in the hotel room I just got fed up and decided i really wasn't going to put up with that behavior and we could go home. after he spent time in time out and we talked I asked him if he deserved to stay and have fun that weekend or if we should go home. He replied that he thought we should go home because he had been so bad. We stayed. I used it then as an opportunity to relate the situation to God and the Bible and what repentance is. and spent probably twice as much time holding him as he has spent in time out.

8- age appropriate limits and activities and it varies with the kid and their maturity level. i would add that strong willed little boys require some pretty firm limits sometimes. also don't put him into situations that he just isn't capable of handling. you'll both end up frustrated.

9-we made our son fit our lives and not us fit his (within reason obviously). we never gave up traveling or going to car shows for example just because we had a kid.

10-don't make idle threats you have no intention of carrying out. if you say you are going to do x if behavior continues you'd better be willing and able to do x and then do it because he will push you to see if you really meant what you said.

11-don't reward bad behavior-sounds easy but it isn't always.

above all always always let him know how much you love him and that he can never ever do anything that will make you stop loving him. you're probably doing most of this stuff already but sometimes seeing that someone else does the same thing can bring a sense of relief that you aren't doing something "wrong"

and I agree with Lisa-sounds like you need to set some limits on the grandparents.

Jim G,

I am so sorry your family is treating you this way. It is very difficult to deal with criticism from family members, especially when you are a first time parent. But you sound like a strong person who made a decision that was right for you and your family, and they are just going to have to live with that. The only way others can view your life is through the lens of their own experiences. That's not your problem, and it's not an excuse for their behavior, but it's an explanation for how they are reacting. People will also automatically put their own personal limitations on you. If I were in your situation, I would make it very clear to my family that they are not to say things negative about your child. Negative comments will not be tolerated. I would let them know how much you love them and how much you want them in your life, but that if they cannot stop these comments, they will not be welcome in your home any longer. Let them know this was a thoughtful decision on your part, not something you did on the fly, and that you expect them to respect your decision even if they do not agree with it. Your child is a person of value and worth, and his life is going to be valued and cherished in your home. Let them know that this may not be the grandchild they were expecting, but that he deserves love and life just as any other child. Every child has a purpose.

As far as disapline, I think Bill Cosby gave us the best advice; Keep your promises. If you promise a reward, give it. If you promise a punishment, give it.

Jib has sound advice regarding punishments.

For the "2 d's" we:
1 removed child from the situation
2 asked if they knew what their offense was
3 explained in detail and asked them to acknowledge that truth
4 showed who they offended (i.e. always God & mom/dad and if it was hitting the person they hit
5 told them the punishment is paddling
6 made them apologize to God to me/dad and anyone else involved
7 paddled

Believe it or not, with 3 kids I only had to do this a handful of times with the first two and none with the third. They couldn't stand the lecturing and told me as they got older that it was worse than the paddling.

Once, my older son asked me, can't you just spank me? lol

In regards to Mac's question, from David Wilkerson's blog :

I thank God for everyone who feeds his mind and soul with spiritual things. Such servants have fixed their eyes on what is pure and holy. They keep their gaze fixed on Christ, spending quality time worshipping him and building themselves up in faith. The Holy Spirit is at work in these saints, continually changing their character in Christ’s. These believers will be ready for the hard, explosive sufferings to come. Slothful, lazy, prayerless believers will suffer heart failure or breakdowns. They’ll be crushed by their fears, because they don’t have the Holy Spirit at work in them, transfiguring them. When the hard times come, they simply won’t make it.

Lots of good advice for you, Jim. In fact, I might copy and paste some of it for my daughter who is raising a strong willed little girl. (Serves her right since she was so strong willed herself when she was that age) :)

I often babysit my granddaughter and will not spank her (though I did my own children when they were small) so I have to come up with ways to discipline her when she is out of control. Interestingly, when she is "herself" again, and we are snuggling together in the big chair, she often asks me "what happened". She likes me to explain to her her own out of control emotions and behavior, clearly not understanding why she does the things she does.

Jim G,
My heart goes out to you. With 4 children of my own I understand the challenges. Two of mine are very strong willed too! Most of the time I feel very ill prepared to raise all of them! The single most important thing that I want to instill in them though is a great love for the Lord and obedience to Him. If I raise them all to attend a great college and they all have great jobs and beautiful homes and yet only give lip service to the Lord then I would have failed at what I consider to be my single most important job on this earth.

As far as your problems with your mom are concerned...let me share with you what happened on Easter. We were to be at my mother-in-laws at 1:00 that day. I was bringing a bunch of food to share with the family. The night before we had to take our 5 year old son to the ER due to his asthma. We were there for 3 hours and then he was ok for church in the morning. We went to church, came home, made the boys take naps, prepared food during that time and then gave Isaac a breathing treatment right before we headed out the door for my husband's family. On the way (we live about 25 minutes away) Steve called his mom to tell her we were running a little late and would be there about 20 minutes after 1. She was mad. She said that they all would go ahead and eat and they would see us when we get there. We have a family of 6 and we were bringing food! DH was upset at his mom's attitude and almost turned the car around to go home. When we got there he pulled his mom aside to have a talk. I did not know this until we left a few hours later. He has NEVER confronted his mom before. He has ALWAYS let her attitude and snide comments slide and then he struggles with being angry at her. I have always been the one hurt and have stuggled to passify her and make her happy. Well...he told her that he would not allow her to treat him or his wife like that again. Told her that I did not deserve that kind of attitude from her. Told her that his family comes before her and that he would protect us all from her comments and bad attitude. Told her he loved her but next time it happens that he would not bring his family over. He was very firm but respectful. She was apologetic and very kind to me the rest of the time. When I found out what he did I was SO PROUD! I felt so PROTECTED and CHERISHED by DH. He stood up to his mom for me and his family. I think if you have a talk with your mom and stand up to her in a respectful but firm way your wife will feel the same I did. It has taken a load off of my shoulders. This type of thing has been going on for years. I feel so confident that I won't have to deal with her guilting me at holiday dinners anymore and that my kids won't have to feel judged and uncomfortable around her. DH finally did what I had been wanting him to do for 14 years.

Sorry this is so long but it just strikes me that this happened the same time you are struggling with your own family issues. I know that it is hard to stand up to a mother and that you do not want to make things more difficult but do it for your wife and son. Your wife will feel a load come off of her and sleep better for it. Will pray about this for you!

In Christ,
Diana

Oh, also for those comments on strong willed kids..
One of my daughters is very strong willed. She is 12 now and we have struggled with this since the time of her birth and she came out screaming and "fighting"! We joke about it but it is true! I knew her the moment she was born! I spanked her when she was younger and she would laugh!! Now, she still get angry and will not be able to control her self or her mouth. I send her away and will not even try to talk sense into her or get her to chnage her attitude, it does not work. When she calms down however, she knows what she did was wrong. She is apologetic and deeply grieved by her actions. THAT is the Holy Spirit and no amount of punishment on my part will make her feel the remorse and change her heart. She is learning to control herself and I have seen some great changes in her this year but she is still young and it takes time. She is the one out of all 4 that is most spiritual and who actually shows her love for God more than any others. She is also the most like me. It is like looking in the mirror in a spiritual sense (since she astually looks like her dad) and personality sense. It is amazing really. I see God's hand on all of them but it shows up the most on her! Her name is Victoria, by the way, which we named her because it means "victorious" and she has victory in the Lord!

Jib, I feel your pain and will be praying for you. I have chronic back pain and have had 4 surgeries. The last one was about 9 weeks ago. They went through my stomach and fused my spine. It helped some with the disc pain, but the sciatic nerve is alive and very painful! It gets very diffucult to sleep at night. Sometimes the next day I realize that I am easily irritated. I try to listen to christian music that is uplifting, and listen to someone on the computer teaching the Word. This seems to help my irritability. On nights it is really bad and I cannot sleep no matter what I do, I take 1 teaspoon of children's benadryl. This is at the urging of my medical doctor. It is low dose and helps to relax the body. He said it is the same ingredient that they use in Tylenol PM and other over the counter medicines. He said, if I wasn't comfortable with that, to get some melatonin. It is a natural supplement that will help you relax and sleep. I have to be careful because I have never taken much medication and I am very sensitive to it. I have to keep the children's Benadryl around anyway because I am allergic to bee stings. Since it is already around, and it is such a small dose, I just take a teaspoonful of it. I usually wake up feeling better the next day, at least rested. It also helps with my allergies so I get a double good out of it!
Jim, I really feel for you about your family situation. We are going through a trial here with ours. There are many famous people who were adopted. Here is a list of articles about famous people who were adopted, click here Write a list of the famous names. When you talk to your mother write down just the names, maybe on a nice card or letter. Ask her what she thinks these famous people have in common. After she takes a few guesses, tell her it's that they are adopted. Is she against abortion? Bring her the article about famous people who were adopted instead of aborted. Maybe through this she can see how important this child is. Also, I had a very strong-willed child. I have prayed diligently for my 4 children and raised them for the Lord in every way I know how. Out of the 4, only one is trying to serve the Lord. I still pray for them all of the time! There has been a lot of good advice given already but, if you want to read, get the book from Dr. Dobson, "The Strong-Willed Child." He has done alot of work and research on it and has some good things to say. When worse comes to worse, listen to the comedian Mark Lowry. He always gave me hope for my son! He was a hyperactive, strong-willed chld and he makes me laugh at some of his antics because they remind me so much of my son! It helps take the tension out of the situation, gives you hope for your child, and he also tells how his Mom and people impacted his life to turn out to serve the Lord! You can find many of his videos on youtube!
As for the two sticks, I do not exactly know how God will bring everything together. I do know that Ephraim was the Gentile son of Joseph. I also know that Y'shua/Jesus said, " a house divided against itself will not stand." I know by that, that His house will not be divided. Where He puts us during the millenium and through all eternity will be His choosing. I do believe that we as christians will begin to see and take part in our Hebrew roots. Not because we are trying to be Jewish, but because we look at those things and realize God said so. It was "His" feasts and "His" sabbath, not the Jews. We have looked at that the wrong way for far too long. At the same time, the Messiah/Y'shua/Jesus will be revealed to the Jews. The Bible says they will weep when they see Him! Then they will understand! At that point, we will all become one people under Him! When we enter into the millenium, we won't live by United States laws, or even Israels laws, we will live by God's laws! I believe a lot of what He taught wasn't to be legalistic in finding Him, He has always wanted relationship! But I have been investigating His law and most of it was for their overall health and well-being. I do not believe there will be sin sacrifices because Y'shua/Jesus is the ultimate sacrifice! No more sacrifice is needed! Do I think people will die and go to hell if they don't follow those laws? No I don't. It isn't the law that saves you,but the blood of Y'shua/Jesus. Just like the children of Israel had the blood applied to their doorposts before they ever went out into the wilderness and receieved the commandments of God, we have to have the blood of Y'shua/Jesus applied to our hearts before we try to learn and do anything for God.

I also wanted to ask you all for prayer for my stepson Matthew. I am remarried. My first husband was a pastor of a church but he fell apart when his Dad died. He became an alcoholic, drug abuser, and cheater. He, of course, stepped down from the church and just went crazy! I tried for a couple of years to work with him through counseling and prayer, but he was determined to keep his life on that path. We ended up getting a divorce. I remarried. The man I am married to now is one of the kindest gentlest men I have ever known. We have been married now for 6 years and my feelings for him haven't changed. He has two older children that live with us. They both have mental probelms because of the scars they carry from their Mother walking out on them. She is also addicted to alcohol and drugs. She has been from one boyfriend to the next, and just recently had one that she seems to be serious about. Mother abandonment really affects the mental stability of children. It was especially hard for Matthew. My husband said he stayed very close to his mother until she left. They were young when she left, the daughter was 5 and the son was 8. Now they are older. He is 21 and she is 18. He has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, psychotic disorder, and antisocial disorder. She has been diagnosed as depressed, psychotic, and antisocial. She is dong a little better than he, but I am worried she has a boyfriend who is jealous. He accuses her constantly, and sometimes he is right, a lot of times he isn't. I keep stressing to her, and even told him that this is not a healthy relationship. They will not listen.Pray for her, Stacy, that she will find Y'shua/Jesus as her saviour, that He will help her find her self esteem, and help her find a healthy relationship. Pray for Matthew. One of the biggest problems with bipolar is that they self medicate. He had to be taken to the hospital for the second time last night. (He went back in September for a seizure from mixing medications.) Last night they said it was the combination of a sinus infection/acute marijuana overdose. He was sitting in a chair playing a computer game. He passed out. He was sitting in the chair with his heal laying in the floor, belly up. He wasn't breathing when we found him and had every appearance of being dead. His Dad jerked him up out of the chair and started shaking him up and down to get him breathing again, while I called 911. He got him to come around, but he was very limp, clammy, grey. They took him to the hospital and he came home about 1:00 AM. My husband has tried everything to get him to change. We have prayed, carried him to church, anything we can to get him to realize that God is his only hope. He doesn't seem to want it at all. My husband is faced with having to kick him out of the home to give him a reality check. Tough love. The problem is, I think tough love is tougher on the parent! It is the only thing he has left, not disregarding prayer of course, to try to get his sons attention to wisen up. Pray he will be strong enough to do it, and pray that Matthew and Stacy will give their hearts to the Lord!

thanks for your prayers. sounds like some of you have your hands full with grown kids and nearly grown kids. I read your stories and my heart cries out for you, them and me and my son.

I had to laugh about the spank rather than lecture. I lecture too but generally after the fact. part of the problem with our son is that he genuinely doesn't hear us sometimes despite the volume of our statements. he does have add and adhd as well (like his daddy, uncles, grandmother and cousins) and thus far we have chosen not to medicate. if it becomes apparent that he is learning poor studying skills or coping skills we'll consider it. perhaps I'll paint his room green first.

there for a while we had to get him to repeat after us what we were saying in order to get the behavior to stop. I can remember a few times that I had to repeat myself 6 times before the little switches flipped on and he could repeat back to me what I was saying. but then the behavior stopped. we did that constantly for a few months and with maturity and due diligence he does now hear us after one or 2 times. now that he's older we tend to take privileges away like computer time, video game time etc.

I will say that last Easter he asked Christ into his heart and became a Christian. We pray most nights together, we try to remember to pray at supper and make the bedtime prayers honest prayers-for help, forgiveness etc. lately we've been reading Bible stories together. Over this last year there has been a change in his behavior that has been noticeable. When we ask him to stop something most of the time he stops immediately and says yes mommy or yes daddy. I am so thankful for this evidence of new life within him. Diana's right-this is the most important job any of us will ever have is to be a parent!

Obama is not conquering the whole world-the Global Movement is. Obama is conquering the independence & sovereignty of America so that this movement can fully materialize.

Praying for all the Mothers and Fathers here. Also, praying for the Grandparents and in-laws to become doers of the word and not hearers only. JIM G. I totally agree with Lisa, Lori, JIB and Diana. Letting your mother do this verbal terrorizing is not of God and she needs to be told that. She is attacking a little child and you know perfectly well what Christ had to say about that. Remind her of it in a loving manner but under no circumstances do you tolerate it. Having her in your home is a privilege and requires her to respect it and your wishes.

Sounds like she is full of bitterness and we know who is the author of all that junk. She can't be a very happy person if all of the things coming out of her mouth towards a little child is full of hurt and rejection. Breaking communications with her is equal to a Time Out such as JIB described.

You are actually honoring your Mother by refusing to allow bad behavior. You want her to be loving and kind. Be strong JIM and stand firm in what you tell her. Her behavior is very childish and will only lead to bad behavior in other situations.

JIB, praying for that foot to be healed by the power of God. If it isn't bone related or muscle damage, it could possibly mean you are allergic to materials in your shoes or hose. Been there and done that one. The pain was so very bad that I had to start wearing Birkenstock uglies all of the time. Then graduated to Dr. Martins before I started getting better. But something else could be affecting it too, are you allergic or sensitive to Latex or Spandex? To this day I have trouble wearing certain types of hosiery. But the thing I was sensitive to was the man made materials in some shoes. Like the inner soles or lining. I used to love SAS shoes and they were the culprits in the onset of pain.

Now, that is just a layman's experience and isn't worth very much but sometimes it is the simple things that are happening.

I have a prayer request for all of you. My daughter and son-in-law are in the process of bidding on a home in Arizona and I don't want to stand in their way or be a hindrance to a good move for their futures. So my problem; I don't want to lose the ability to be physically around them ever so often. I would never get to see them again and it makes me very, very sad. So, if they move there I need to have the peace of God about it and not upset all of the time. I am a big girl and yes, I have prayed about it but evidently not in the right way.

Love you all,
Grany

Jib, Have you tried putting him in ball? My son was adhd really bad. The teachers at school were very angry at me because I wouldn't medicate him. I prayed for a solution! The problem with people who have it is a short attention span, but mostly they have too much energy to focus. I didn't feel like I had the time,(we had 4 kids and I had to work to help support them!), but I felt like I had no choice given his problems. It wasn't long and I drove by a sign offering sign ups for the local baseball team. They have many upwards teams now that work through the churches and are usually more fair about letting everyone play. Well, he did his thing. He loved to play ball, but of course, he knew how to do it better than the coach. Fortunately, the coach had players like him before. After a few sessions where my son had to run several laps for running his mouth, he learned to be more respectful! He would actually fall asleep in the car coming home! He finally looked so peaceful! These children are challenging because they have so much more energy than the rest of us. What a blessing to have so much energy! The problem is, getting the energy channeled into a positive direction. Baseball may or may not be his help. He may like swimming or soccer or something else. Just help him find his nitch! His self worth will shoot up and it will help him improve in other areas of his life!
Grany, I feel your pain! I felt so blessed all my life that the Lord allowed me to raise 4 children. Now I have 8 grandchildren! I have a son who is constantly talking about moving far far away! He is the one who has adhd! So far, it hasn't panned out for him. If and when it does, he will be leaving with his wife and 4 of my granchildren! It hurts, but I hang on to the verse in the Word that says "a man will leave his mother and father and cleave unto his wife." Abraham had to leave everything he knew to go to a strange land, but look at how wonderfully God used him! It is hard to let them go, but when they are in the hands of God, there is no telling what God will do through them! Knowing this encourages my heart, and I hope it will help yours.
I was distressed at what I read today on Marzullie's blog. It is about dirty bombs being bought on the black market. As if we don't have enough to worry about! Jib, an ex colleague of my mind had a similar issue with her foot. She often had to wear the boot. She had MRI scans that revealed no fractures – nothing. In the end she underwent some sort of process (can’t remember what) that somehow deadened(?) certain nerves in her foot. Hasn’t had the problem since.

As for my back – I’m as strong as a mule again…and just about as….

Anne, Marzzuli has some very good books out about the possibility of the ufo phenomena being satanic. I thought it was way out there at first but, after digging some on my own, I feel he is probably right. There is no telling what we will see on this earth as the time of tribulation approaches. We will probably see more demonic manifestation. After all, he is given power to the antichrist for 7 years. I am sure he will bring his demons to help him. Besides, if you read in Revelations, there are some horrible thing that come up out of hell. I sure hope we're outta here! On the bright side, if we happen to be here, I am sure we will see magnificent miracles from God so that His people can survive it!

Thanks for that posting on the "Passion of the Christian". That was probably the best I have seen written on the subject! How true, contrary to what we mostly hear in christian teaching! The Lord has been teaching me so much lately along those lines, separating me from the "things" of this world and making me focus on Him alone! I have sooo far to go yet!!

One thing I found out though is, pride is an "I" problem, and we all have it from birth!!

How to Prepare for End-time Tribulation (just a couple points below)

Preparation starts today!

1. Every time difficulties and impossible situations arise now, I will believe in the omnipotence of God and His fatherly aid. I will not give place to worry, but completely trust in the Father's tender, loving care, for He never gives me more than I can bear and always has ways and means to help. Then by the time persecution breaks out, I shall be 'practiced in faith' so that I can experience His aid.

5. In faith I will claim Jesus' redemption in my daily battle against my spirit of criticism, pride, stinginess, envy, self-will, egoism, anger, the desires of the flesh, and bondage to people and things. Then sin will not be able to weaken me in the future, and if I should be taken to a concentration camp, I can be a witness for Jesus when living together with others, by radiating His love and peace.

I've been thinking about that whole where do you want to live thing in the Millennial kingdom recently myself. I was commenting to DH that it was weird to think that we would be raptured only to come back and live in the States. Where did he think he wanted to live? I suppose if the weather remains with snow etc I'll be living somewhere warm although I would think our glorified bodies would be impervious to things like weather. an interesting topic for speculation at any rate.

getting ready for the Rapture:

My brother is in the process of setting up and automating 8 different Christian radio FM stations. I believe that at least 6 are running now, and they hope to set up a number of others in the next year.

He is really big in getting all the complex things done by the computer and keep the radio hosts doing the most important things like preaching and sharing to their communities. This week I encouraged my brother to set up a default program that will kick in automatically if no one delays it. This way, when the rapture happens, within a few days the automated programing will kick in and there will be 24/7 programing dealing with what happened, what to do, etc. I trust that they will find the right sermons, songs, etc. to touch the hearts of people who are left behind.

They discussed this as a team yesterday, and it was well accepted.

I am Praying for you Christine, and for your kids. God will comfort.

Thank you Lisa, Jib, Lori, Anne, Diana, Christine, Grany, and Mac (oh and Dr. Laura) for your thoughtful and godly advice and your prayers. I hope I didn’t miss anyone. This thread of comments is definitely one to keep!

There is one bit of advice I’m still struggling with. That is to prevent my mom from seeing my son and wife if the behavior continues. I think my mom would be quite pleased to have contact with my wife and son cut off and just have contact with me remain. She lives 4 miles from her grandson and appears to have no desire to visit him or build relationship with him. She loves me. It’s my wife and son that she has issues with.

I actually took the step of cutting off the relationship with her and my step-father in 2008 (for the entire year). The crazy thing is, I always had a close relationship with my mom and my mom knows it is important that a man put his wife and children before his parents. She taught me that!

My parents divorced back in 1971. She hasn’t regularly attended church since then though she claims to love Jesus and watches “church” on TV all the time. My stepdad is Jewish and went to synagogue as a child. I don’t think he was a practicing Jew when my mom and he met which was shortly after a bitter divorce that he went through. My mom and stepdad married when I was 9.

One thing I am very thankful for is the fact that my mom made sure that me and my siblings went to church even though she and my stepdad didn’t.

Anyway, I feel like you can’t have me without my wife and son. Especially my wife. The Lord has made us one. Why should I allow my mom the benefit of relationship with me when she doesn’t want or care about relationship with my wife? Am I wrong to think this way?

Christine,My wife just ordered two books the other night before she woke me up to cry on my shoulder.

Your suggestion is confirmation she’s looking in the right place for godly advice.
I’ll pray for your stepson Matthew. Nothing is impossible with God. He works much better with folks who know they are broken and needy than with folks who think they’re not. He can heal our mind, body, and emotions. He will also put His Spirit in us. Tell Matthew some guy in Oregon (among many others here) who has never met him is asking God to pour out mercy and grace and blessings into his life.

Grany,
I will pray for the Lord's will regarding your daughter and son-in-law. I must say though that I'm with you. I want them to stay close to you!!! Those grandkids are so blessed to have you as a grandma. Do I hear some "Amens" echoing throughout the cave?P.S. Just wondering… Why are all my cave brothers (with the exception of Mac) so quiet on this topic?

Ok...so I went to church again on Sunday and lo and behold the message theme is about "masks" that we wear. So I'm thinking to myself...ugh...it's ressurection Sunday...why preach about masks?

It turns out that the preacher starts talking about masks that we wear (with some still clips form the movie "The Mask" and some other movie clips that I did not recognise), but then he starts talking about what Jesus did on the cross and salvation etc (don't know where the theme of masks now fit anymore) so I get excited and think "yeah, now you onto it"...and then it sort of all fissled out before he got to explaining HOW you actually obtain salvation (Romans 10: 9-10) as if everyone in the congregation has already been saved...not a lost soul amongst us? I don't get it...why preach if not for salvation of souls? WHY?

Anyways...it was an up and down sermon (for me in terms of my hopes). I'm not too fond of the "Message" translation of the bible either as I've heard (not read it myself) that it is pretty much watered down and paraphrased. This seems to be the translation of choice in my church.

I don't know what to think of it all!

Bless you all and I pray for your requests when I can.

So you think then that your Mom will be perfectly happy if you restrict the visitations w/your family? She'll have her cake & eat it too kind of thing.

If you sit them both down & tell them what the deal is-it will have more of an effect than you think. She just may not be the type to show it-to you anyway.

Plus, with your family coming 1st I'm sure you won't have the opportunity to see her @ her beckon call either. So that means mostly phone calls. I guess you did it before & she was fine w/it. Then you went back & thought perhaps she changed-but she didn't.

Well, we all know people don't really change unless it's from a supernatural source. God will not be mocked so if she's manipulating you then her turn will come. It's not your job to have her pay for her bad behavior-it's God's work.

But it is your job to protect your family.

I fully realize the love one has for their parents & the constant hope that the same love will be returned. What type of love do you think your mom has for you or is even capable of on her own? Your family has the Holy Spirit's power giving you the ability for a depth of love most people don't have a clue about.

Your mom's love appears to be selfishly motivated. We all have our issues due to our sin natures.
If you mom was capable of a higher type of love then she would not be mean spirited towards your family & you in the process.

Right now, unless she comes to Christ-what you see is what you get. And obviously it ain't no great shakes.

I know the hurt that comes w/loving parents who are selfishly motivated. I spent most of my life in a similar situation except mine didn't cause family strife-they just moved 3000 miles away when our eldest daughter was born.

So I guess loving their grandkids was not a top priority but they did get the big house on the big lot that my mom apparently always dreamed of.

My dad also got Alzheimer’s w/that-died & now my mom has breast cancer. She cries & is lonely all the time. The only good thing that has come out of this is that my Mom appears to be looking to the Lord for the 1st time in her adult life.

I would have never wished this situation on my parents in a million years & have continued to love them w/o harsh feelings despite their poor decision to move away. I really don't look at it as a personal rejection type of thing. It's just that our sin nature is such a motivating force w/o the Holy Spirit to keep us in check.

When we make bad decisions-eventually we will pay for it - one way or another. But look-something great has come out of my mom's suffering-which is hope for eternal life. The most important thing in the world. (I can see there is a sense of peace there she didn't have before.)

So just protect your family @ this point. God will take care of the rest in His perfect timing. (:

We will definitely pray for Myrna! I can't imagine what she is going through!
As for the sinus infection, they said that, this time, that is primarily what the problem was with Matthew. Of course, given his choices and situation, I didn't beleive him. It was on his papers that I finally saw. He had an acute sinus infection with a combination of nyquil and marijuana. The doctor said the combination is what put him out. I was really skeptical, and I know he was on something else because he sat up all night and cleaned the house spotless. He never does that! Anyway, he said it was speed when he was semiconscience, but when he came home, of course he didn't do that! Whatever the sinus infection is must be pretty serious. Adam had to go to the hospital, Matt was out cold, and someone on Glen Beck passed out with it on TV the other day! We need to pray for our families they don't catch it!
I am really concerned about a story I heard on Fox News this morning! They are fixing to give parental right of American citizens to the UN! Here is the link, click hereNow this stuff is scary! Just say someone gets control of the UN who is non-religious or who is part of a religion totally against yours. (Moslem for instance) They would be able to say your are mentally abusing your child and take them out of your home! This world is going crazy!

Jim G, I like what Late Night Lisa said about her mother. It is also true for yours. I believe God used her mothers dreams to bring her to Him. It was only when she was alone that she decided to trust Him. God knows what it will take for your Mother. You will have to leave her in His hands.
Thuunda, I am sorry the service was such a disappointment to you! I was in your shoes once. I believe that, when we feel that way about a church, God is telling us that it is time to move. Pray about it. Visit around and ask Him to show you where He wants you to be. It took me about a year and visiting, but He did show me, and I have been there now for about 9 years! It is a very loving church and there are many mornings you come out feeling God is doing something new! My pastor never closes a service without asking if there is someone who wants salvation! I think, when pastors have services and don't ask, it is sad because you never know who may want to. I have, in recent years, seen many pastors who don't feel the need to do that anymore. They trade the altar service for an offering service. I am not their judge, but I am quite sure the Lord will take care of them! After all, vengeance is His!

you may have to cut off all contact with your mom including phone calls but tell her why you are doing it first and perhaps make if for a defined period of time (but i wouldn't tell her that necessarily) say 6 months.

In defense of Adam-it is entirely possible to have "just a sinus infection" land you in the hospital. Severe infections can cause you to have the same bacteria in the blood stream and cause sepsis aka "blood poisoning" one of the signs of which is confusion and delirium. of course the first thing they would have done was drug test him and it sounds like that was negative. also severe sinus and inner ear infections can cause quite severe dizziness as well.

I might add a viral infection or bacterial infection of the fluid around the brain, ruptured anurysm in the brain can all cause similar symptoms. my dad had west nile virus and nearly died and the only symptom was marked confusion.

Personally-I've seen God moving in little snippets of ways but there is a lady @ my Bible study who just mentioned yesterday that people have been coming out of the woodwork.

She started out really frustrated & down in our Bible study as she has moved here from Northern CA-has been separated from her abusive husband & is raising teenage boys alone-and working 7 days a week & two jobs.

Last night I could see the hand of God working in her & through here-as if suddenly a light switched on.
She was a Worship Leader & realized that she had been in a religious mode & going through the motions rather than focusing on a personal relationship w/the Lord.

I could visibly see by her countenance that she's now been set on fire. Most of the people coming to her are from her restaurant job. I can't tell you how thrilled I am to see such an instant dramatic change in her. Amazing.

Moriel's take on Rick Warren's Prop 8 retreat is good to Rick Warren on Prop 8: "I never once even gave an endorsement" I liked this passage:

Interesting Obama morphs Jesus Sermon of the Mount & the solid foundation of the "Rock" into a foundation upon 5 Pillars.

Here is Obama's 5 Pillars:

“It’s a foundation built upon five pillars”

Pillar 1- Reform the outdated rules and regulations.

Pillar 2- Education system.

Pillar 3- Harness the renewable energy.

Pillar 4- A 21st century health care system.

Pillar 5- Restoring fiscal discipline once this economy recovers.

The Five Pillars of Islam is quite different but "how" Obama constructs his five pillars is the pertinent question.

Lisa, Shalom! That whole Notre-Dame/Obama debate has been going REAL strong over at the Catholic boards. There have been calls for the priest who is the president ND to be excommunicated. In other words, people aren't happy. The problem is (as one person pointed out) is that ND is a private institution that is governed by a board of directors. Board members are likely very rich with business connections that might benefit from the prestige of having the President speak there (or at the very least, would suffer if they insulted the President by NOT inviting him at some point). The president of the University is only one vote on this board.

Yeah, I think the letter was disingenuous, and I think the honorable thing would be for President Obama to back out, but no, he's got to rub his beliefs into the faces of Catholics because that shows "diversity." Gimme a break...

I received a call from my pastor's wife today. We had a beautiful play at church on Sunday. Along with the traditional, crucifiction, ressurection story, it went through several stories of the people Jesus encountered and how He was with them. Then it progressed into today and how He is with us, even though we cannot see Him! There was such a beautiful presence of the Lord and even the men in the congregation were weeping! We had an amazing miracle! Our piano player testified at the end of the play that she was really nervous when it started. She said it was just like the Lord had touched the top of her head, and she was overcome with such a wonderful feeling of peace! Well, the pastor's wife said today that everyone who had taken pictures had downloaded them on their computers. She was getting calls from everyone that there were light orbs all over the pictures! What was really amazing is that one of them was sitting right on top of our piano players hair! I do believe that, as we see darkness cover the earth, the Lord will send miracles of His making to help us and reassure us that He is truly with us!Just a note; the same cameras were used to take pictures at the beginning, before the play started, and there were no light orbs!

I'm afraid whatever I find to link will not be up to par w/your standards. But what I was researching was "the cult of Cybele" and how it was relocated there at some point. The Romans later renamed it "Magna Mater", or "the Great Mother."

Apparenty a black meteorite was also involved in worship which I was shocked to find about because the Kaba in Mecca was origionally built as a shrine to her & has a black stone (probably metorite) in it.

"St. Peters Cathedral in the Vatican is built right on top of the old temple of Magna Mater, and some parts are presumably left under the foundations. Cybele was worshipped under the names Kubaba and Kuba in Arabia, and Khaba in Mecca was originally a shrine to her. Many early Christians identified her with Mary."

The Closing of the Gates of Grace
Maurice Sklar
Mar 30, 2009

“Tonight I watched as the Holy Spirit gave me a vision.
I saw two massive gate doors – both on the right and the left of the
earth. They were made out of gold with precious gems embedded in
them. They were positioned over the earth in the spirit realm. On
the other side of the gates was heaven. On our side of the gates was
the earth suspended in space. Then I saw a mighty angel on each side
of the two gates. They were standing as sentries guarding the
doorway or portal from the two realms. They each had a large sword
in their hands that was on fire and it seemed to spin around
perpetually in every direction and it shot these flames out all
around them. I was amazed and awed at their glory and size. They
seemed as large as the earth below them. The gates were even larger
in size than they were! Both the angels and the gates were glowing
as bright as the sun, it seemed. On the heavenly side – light was
streaming like a river flowing toward the earth. As I looked into
the glorious light, I saw the Lord sitting on His throne in great
majesty with many crowns on His head. He had an iron/bronze-looking
scepter in his right hand and an old-fashioned-looking harvesting
sickle in the other.

Suddenly, I heard His voice. It sounded like a roaring ocean of
water and wind as He spoke. I have never heard such a sound before.
He said,

“The time has come to close the gates of grace upon the earth. The
nations have rejected Me and My Father long enough. Lift the
coverings of protection off of those nations that have chosen
Babylon over my Kingdom. I will no longer protect them from reaping
what they have sown.”

Then the two angels on each side of the golden gate leaves began to
move slowly to shut the giant doorway/portal. I noticed that this
was a slow process, because I saw the seasons change on earth and
some years pass before it was fully closed. As it was closing, I was
able to look closer at the river of light that was pouring upon the
earth. In it was every blessing and healing grace, forgiveness,
unconditional agape love, and the constant flow of angels carrying
all these wonderful blessings to the earth. Right before the gates
shut, I heard the Voice of the Lord say,

“Come up here, my Bride, and escape the wrath that is about to be
poured out upon the earth.”

I heard a nearly deafeningly loud blast of heavenly trumpets from
both those angels at the same time, and suddenly, I saw multitudes
of souls – millions and millions of them – ascending out of the
earth very fast in a flash of light. The river of light coming
through the gates met them in the upper atmosphere of the earth and
then reversed itself and all the souls and the river of light went
back up out of the earth and into the closing gates back into heaven.

Then I saw the gates finish shutting completely – at a much faster
rate now after the souls from earth had finished going into heaven.
Then, it became so dark that I could no longer see the stars even.
There was no more river of light flowing down upon the earth. The
earth was covered in what looked like white neon hexagon shapes in a
web above the earth (please see my teaching “Visions from the Dallas
Revival 1985” on my websight) It rapidly became opaque where I could
no longer see the earth underneath. I just saw a brownish looking
color –like a stagnant pond - where the oceans and land could be
seen only a few moments before. Then, nearly just as fast, the whole
earth seemed to be swallowed up in the thickest black darkness I had
ever seen. It was like a black hole in the universe. It made the
rest of the universe look light in comparison, if I could describe
it that way.

I felt so sick and hopeless as I saw this. Then, just like I had
heard back in the vision in 1985, I began hearing the screams of
millions upon millions of souls that I knew were trapped in that
darkness below in the earth. The Holy Spirit then spoke to me and said,

“This is now coming upon the whole earth as a snare and a trap. This
is what the nations have chosen. As they have done, so shall it be
done to them. As they have cursed, so shall they be cursed. As they
have condemned, so shall they be condemned. The time of My wrath
shall surely come. The nations shall drink of the wine of the wrath
of My cup that I have mixed for them. Woe! Woe! Woe to the earth for
the hour of her judgment has surely come! Babylon shall now fall and
be consumed by the fire of my wrath.”

Then I realized that these were still events to come in the future.
But I also somehow knew that it was imminent. Once again, I saw the
doors of the gates of grace still remained partially open. I knew
that this was our present time now. I was so relieved to see the
river of light flowing into the earth again. But, the doors were
closing fast! They weren’t fully opened as they were even a few
years ago. I knew that we didn’t have much more time. The Lord spoke
again so loudly and powerfully:

“Warn them! Time is very short! You must preach the gospel and work
while it is still daylight. The night comes very soon, and no man
can then harvest in the time of grace ever again. The doors of grace
are beginning to close. REPENT! REPENT! REPENT O Earth before the
river of light stops flowing! Then you will face Me, not as Merciful
Savior, but as the Judge of all the earth. Who will hear and heed
the final call of the silver trumpet’s clarion of Grace, Grace! My
Spirit will not strive with sinful man forever. Come to Me now while
there is still a little time left. I am coming soon for My
overcoming Bride. Keep your lamps burning…
Watch and Pray…

I AM AT THE DOORS OF GRACE! They are closing quickly….
Come into My ark of safety…
Come into the Bridal chamber and the doors will SHUT…
I AM COMING FOR YOU, MY BELOVED!!!”

I pray that we all take heed to God’s prophetic warning and be ready
when he appears for His glorious, waiting Bride.

Love in our Messiah,
Maurice Sklar

Lisa, Shalom! Yeah, I ran across that line saying something about the Vatican getting the Cult of Cybele, and I thought, "What the ****?" For a while, I thought he was talking about the Vatican getting some altar or artwork; now I wonder if he meant the Vatican was responsible for bringing the Cult of Cybele to Rome. That would have been some trick, seeing as the Cult of Cybele was brought to Rome around 200 BC.

Either way, the guy just doesn't know what he's talking about. "Vatican" refers to Vatican Hill, which is NOT one of the 7 Hills of Rome. For the record, anyone who says "The 7 hills of Rome = Vatican" is also just plain wrong. Those 7 hills are on the east side of the Tiber River. Vatican Hill is on the west side of the river. This is for a very good reason: Vatican Hill was a necropolis -- what we would call a graveyard -- and as such could not be within the city of Rome. The term "necropolis" means "City of the Dead", which is a pretty accurate description. There were streets and avenues; families would have private tomb areas, separated by walls, often decorated with beautiful artwork with benches, seats, etc. They were places where you could come and grieve privately.

Note that it was a necropolis, not a catacomb. Catacombs are tunnels dug out specifically for burials. Like the necropolis, they were dug outside the city limits; however, they were not specifically for Christians. The Christians made use of them because it was easier to bury the bodies of the martyrs there, and like the necropolis, small groups of people could gather there without arousing suspicion.

In any case, the necropolis on Vatican Hill was close (or close enough, anyway) to the area where St. Peter was martyred, that his followers were able to take his body there quickly and bury it in a sarcophagus. After the final Decree of Tolerance issued by Constantine (there had been other Decrees of Tolerance by earlier emperors, but they only lasted ten or twenty years), one of the Western emperors (can't remember who and too lazy to look it up now) wanted to build a church over the burial place of Peter. In order to do that, he had the existing walls of the burial areas built up and then he had basketful after basketful of dirt brought in and filled in the necropolis. This packed dirt along with the walls of the burial areas formed the foundation of the Basilica.

The story was that the great altar in St. Peter's Basilica was directly over the spot where Peter was buried. This was confirmed in the late 30's and late 60's through archeological excavation. They were doing some repair work in the basilica when a ladder went through the floor and landed in a tomb. (When the area was filled in with dirt, they didn't always take the roofs off different structures.) The Vatican hired some archeologists who excavated as much as they could of the old necropolis without endangering the basilica above. They discovered a treasure trove of artwork and found a great deal of information about early Christian practice. For example, there was one grave area that had a beautiful mural of Apollo riding his chariot bringing the sun -- an appropriate motif for a grave area. However, the archeologists recognized various early Christian symbols worked into the clothing of Apollo, showing that this was not Apollo but Christ Jesus, and that this was a Christian tomb.

One of the areas that was first examined was right under great altar. The sarcophagus that should have held the body of St. Peter was empty. However, the area matched very closely a description of early Christian services, including a place for baptism. The sarcophagus matched where the altar was in the description, and there was a small window next to the sarcophagus. Apparently, they would offer Mass using the sarcophagus containing the bones of St. Peter as an altar; if it looked like soldiers were coming they could pass the bread and wine through the window to someone to hide them, and there was nothing to indicate that this was anything but a group of friends and family gathered at the grave of a loved one.

To understand this next portion, you have to know that the archeologists were under the supervision of a priest who was to report back on their progress to the bishop in charge of the basilica, who would report to the Pope. The team of archeologists and the priest who was to supervise them absolutely HATED each other: The archeologists didn't like that this priest with no knowledge of archeology was their boss, and the priest thought the archeologists were being too cavalier with the bones that they discovered. (This is possible, given what we know about standards in treatment of remains in archeology now and then, but there's no way of knowing for sure now.) In any case, when the archeologists finished for the day they MIGHT tell the priest what they had uncovered during the day. When they left, the priest would go down with the head workman, inspect the site, and take care of any bones that the archeologists had uncovered.

The archeologists had finished a preliminary examination of the grave area under the main altar, and were working around the outside of that room. Underneath the small window, there was a small space that had been bricked over quickly. The archeologists had just finished taking out the bricks when it was time to quit, and there was no time to look in the area. Later, the priest came down with the head workman, looked in the small space, and found bones. He carefully removed the bones and had them placed in a box in his office, locked in a filing cabinet. The next morning, the archeologists came back to work, expecting to find bones in the space, and found nothing except an inscription scratched into the wall of the space that said "Here is Peter".

Thirty years later in the 60's, a new archeologist was examining the small space and commented to the head workman that it was strange they hadn't found any bones in the space. The head workman told her that, yes, they had indeed found bones in there. He took her to the priest's old office, unlocked the file cabinet, and gave her the boxes with the bones. They were the bones of a man in his late 60's, very strong and powerfully built. It looks like the bones of Peter were removed from the sarcophagus and quickly hidden in the space, possibly to hide them from the Roman soldiers, with just that quick inscription.

To make a long story short (Too Late!), the bones were determined to be those of St. Peter, and were returned to the sarcophagus under the great altar. So under the Vatican, there are the bones of saints; but there is NO "Cult of Cybele" there.

Have you looked into this yourself? I'm reading that throughout history there were many pagan rituals going on in that particular area and that the Vatican is built over the top of some of those alters & areas of worship.

I certainly wouldn't solely go by the Vatican's history books. Typically people only tell you what they want you to know so checking a few sources is a good idea.

I guess someone is lying huh?

GT, thanks for posting that vision.

GT, Shalom! That is a real powerful vision! I've been trying to find a way to confirm it. On some Catholic sites, there's recently been a spate of counterfeit visions, i.e., someone releases a vision or prophecy attributed to a known visionary or locutionist, except it's faked. The visionary or locutionist never released such and such a message. This happened back in January with an Irish nun with the charism of healing. A vision from her was posted on her website; the problem is that she never had such a vision. It was counterfeit, and such good quality (i.e., it arrived from the right domain, from the right IP address, etc.) that it fooled the webmaster. The vision was taken down within 24 hours and an apology was posted, but not before the vision had been sent around the world to millions of people via email.

That's why I'm curious where you got it. I went to http://www.mauricesklar.com/ (some BEAUTIFUL music there; I'm definitely getting one of his CDs) as well as his blog and social networking site, but couldn't find any record of his having such a vision. It's possible that this appeared in his newsletter and that he hasn't updated his blog in a few months. Can you please check with this blog where you originally found the message and confirm the source?

Lisa, it's possible that if you're using a new editor or browser, that it's not inserting a "carriage return" character when you press the Enter key. Try pressing the Enter key twice after putting in a link and see if that solves the problem.

Lisa, Shalom! You wrote:

I'm reading that throughout history there were many pagan rituals going on in that particular area and that the Vatican is built over the top of some of those alters & areas of worship.Oh, I have no doubt that there were some pagan altars or that pagan rituals were performed there -- this WAS a necropolis after all. I doubt very much that anything to do with Cybele was done there, though, since the entire point of bringing in the Cult of Cybele was to protect the City of Rome.

But, yes, it's quite possible and indeed probable that pagan rituals were done on the site where the Vatican was built. Your viewpoint, then, has an interesting logical conclusion. You're saying that IF a pagan ritual is performed at a site THEN that site is contaminated for all time, i.e., nothing done can retrieve or redeem that area for use by the people of G_D. For evil to win, then, it is only necessary for some evil practice to have been done at some time in a specific area, and then over the years continue the evil practice in different areas until over 50% of the land has been claimed for the Evil One, and no prayer to G_D can ever be uttered on that land that G_D will hear.

I hope you agree that this is a false notion; that the people of G_D can and do reclaim land and spaces formerly used for evil to be used for good. In fact, this has been a common practice of Christians over the centuries: after Christianity has been accepted by a majority of the people, places formerly used for pagan rituals are sanctified and used to worship G_D. Guadalupe, in fact, is on the former location of an Aztec temple dedicated to the main Aztec goddess. Untold women were sacrificed to her on that spot. By building a church on that spot, the land was reclaimed for G_D and it was demonstrated to the people that they no longer had to fear their old gods, because the True G_D had conquered them.

So rest assured: no matter what evil had taken place in the land where the Vatican was built, before any building had taken place the land was blessed and sanctified for the use of G_D, reclaiming it for His use.

Shalom, all! Since we're talking about visions and things of evil being reclaimed for G_D, I wanted to pass on something some of you might find interesting.

IN the late 20's - early 30's, Sr. Faustina, a nun in a convent in Poland, was given visions of Jesus. He spoke to her, wanting her to spread the news of Christ's Divine Mercy. One thing Jesus asked her to do was to promote the Sunday after Easter as the Feast of Divine Mercy, as a call to people to turn to His Mercy:

I am giving them the last hope of salvation; that is, the Feast of My Mercy. If they will not adore My mercy, they will perish for all eternity... tell souls about this great mercy of Mine, because the awful day, the day of My justice, is near.

I am prolonging the time of mercy for the sake of [sinners]. But woe to them if they do not recognize this time of My visitation... Before the Day of Justice, I am sending the Day of Mercy...
As it says in Scripture:

Before the day of the Lord comes, the great and manifest day [...] it shall be that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Acts 2:20-21)Regardless of your belief in Sr. Faustina's visions, I think it's important that we as Christians proclaim the truth and hope of Christ's Divine Mercy; that He wants, no, He CRAVES to show us Mercy, as a parent who must punish a son or daughter but also wants that child to know that nothing, NOTHING, will ever make the parent stop loving him or her. Not that this is the ONLY day of the year that G_D shows us Mercy, but as a focus and a reminder to ALWAYS "call on the name of the Lord and be saved."

<><

jim.carroll said...

BTW, Christ also showed Sr. Faustina an image of an image He wanted painted to remind people of His Mercy. (I say "image" because that is how Christ described it; not as an exact copy but as something different artists could interpret for their own cultures.) It is to show Christ standing, His right arm extended in blessing and His left hand touching His heart. From His heart extend two different rays: one pale to represent the cleansing water of baptism; the other red to represent His Blood shed for the remission of sins. At the bottom is written the prayer, "Jesus, I Trust in You!"

If you're interested, you can see different artist's interpretations of the image at Divine Mercy Pictures. If you want one you can download onto your desktop, you can find downloadable copies of the "Hyla" version at Divine Mercy Image Download Site

"Happy is the one who shall dwell under the shelter of these rays, for the just hand of God shall not lay hold of him. The two rays symbolize the blood and water which poured forth from the depths of my mercy when my agonized heart was pierced by a lance on the cross. " (Our Lord to Blessed Faustina)
