“My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense; I shall not be moved.
In God is my salvation and my glory;
The rock of my strength and my refuge, is in God.
Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him;
God is a refuge for us."

could I be getting the coveted first slot?
Could be!

Commercial or religious Babylon? one would be the actual city of Babylon and the other the one world church which is also traditionally held to be the woman in scarlet. Yes I would most likely interpret the little horn as being the AC-fairly traditional pretrib etc for the most part I am.
I believe you stated other views at one time such as the US being the commercial Babylon and we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.
Donna
it isn't so much that I really think that BHO (Although both he and Sarkozy are on my short list of suspects) is the AC but the parallels are just so striking to the Carpathia character in the Left Behind series it is a little uncanny. I do know and realize that the books aren't equivalent to scripture but since the books had such an enormous impact I have to wonder sometimes if God didn't plant some ideas into Jenkins head just as one could make the same case for Joel Rosenberg.
I just watched the latest Perry Stone video that Lisa posted a link to. Whoa! He sure got himself worked into a lather! That being said, what he had to say was very interesting.
hey Mac
the land of Oz is doing pretty well in swimming at the Games
so Georgia and Russia have agreed to a ceasefire and a pull back to pre hostility lines. brokered by the French President. interesting
Beck said on his program tonight that this whole thing was to send a message to the west and ukraine about staying out of russian empire building affairs.
Apparently aussies tend to swim well - water on the brain? Take mac, for example; he's the fastest guy I know to get to the bottom of a pool.
Hyde
you so naughty. poor Mac
jib,
Check out this latest post on Debka:
Russia masses naval force opposite Georgia’s third sensitive region, Ajaria
While the world’s attention was fixed on the Russian-Georgian contest over two breakaway regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, DEBKAfile’s exclusive military sources reveal that Russia has massed a fleet of warships and marine forces opposite the Gerogia's semi-autonomous Black Sea region of Ajaria.
The Russian Black Sea buildup is deployed opposite the Ajurian capital of Batumi, an important port for the shipment of oil from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. Its oil refinery handles Caspian oil from Azerbaijan.
Russia wants the oil.
Yep, Russia is back to it's cold war tricks...and no Ronald Reagan in sight.
Last I checked, Canada does not even even one medal yet. :-( Canada's government support of its athletes has been pretty abysmal over the years and our medal count, or lack there of always reflects that.
The only summer sports that Canada seems to excel at are rowing, canoing and kayaking. We are favored to win a gold or two in those events. I think we are good at those events because that is how we still power our naval vessels. When we have to send out a destroyer to defend our coast, it is just a couple of guys in a birch bark canoe. :-)
I miss Ronnie. :-(
Harold; maybe Russia can stike up a peaceful deal with Pelosi. She won't let the USA drill for more oil anyhow.
Pelosi is one of the few people that annoys me even more than Rosie O'Donnell and that is saying something!
BTW, Jib, I find the Olympics about as exciting as watching paint dry. I'm considered a heretic by my fellow aussies.
mac,
My wife and I were over at a friend's house on Sunday and she is a real Olympic nut. She had hours and hours of Olympics taped on her PVR. One can only watch so many hours of swimming and gymnastics before you feel like running amuck with an axe!
Hyde - you have to have body fat to float. It's those muscular types that sink to the bottom!
Too funny, Harold! Yeah, I'm still trying to get used to skipping the first 4 or 5 pages of a newspaper to get to the real news. Forget about Radio and TV too. No place to hide!
Careful, my dear, all his fat will go to his head.
Alesia, or a large dose of lead will also cause one to sink. That is why the weight belt of of lead!
Now Mac, you get the lead out and just relax and float! Think like this, floating on the water is like walking on the water to Jesus.
By the way, a few years ago, Russia remarked that their population was growing very quickly and the need for addition land that was habitable was greatly needed. Seems they tried floating that propaganda past our dear Ronnie's head and he didn't buy it. Maybe they will have better luck with someone of Arab-South African lineage, if the liberal media is allowed to vote double.
I am being a real cynic tonight aren't I! By the way, I read Andrew Strom's email to Rick Joyner and C. Peter Wagner and it was stinging rebuttal for their involvement with Lakeland, Fl. I hate this kind of thing because it always casts all Christians in a very poor light.
Well, it is now bedtime for us old folks so I will bid thee all ado and waddle off to snoozeville, OK>
Grany
so Alesia, Mac is pretty muscular is he. hmmm.
I enjoy watching the swimming, diving and gymnastics. not much for the rest of it. Phelps has been absolutely amazing to watch.
Harold
yes they want the oil BUT they also want an empire and want to return Russia to her former days of glory. if they can do both at the same time so much the better. I never said they didn't want the oil, I pointed out that they had imperial aspirations as well. I believe you were the one that said that if they stopped short and didn't continue on that oil then might be a secondary issue.
Grany
I know what you mean but, we don't know that he didn't go to them privately and they didn't listen, if their support was pretty vocal and pretty public then perhaps their rebuke should be also. The world won't understand and will misrepresent such for sure but that is because spiritual things are spiritually discerned yes?
on a final note, does anyone know anything about the Logos ministry? our church is stopping AWANA and starting this. not happy for a multitude of reasons but also because it doesn't appear that the kids for whom there was quite a bit of outreach to in the community will be included. too bad. seems like this is just made for the church and not as an outreach. I did find their website but it is difficult to tell just how sound it is and whether it is permeated with emergent church nonsense. the ed director at the church likes Brian McClaren a lot and he is one of the big leaders in emergent church. not sure who picked out the curriculum but if she did I'm skeptical.
Yep - Hercules is jealous.
;-)
lol
JIB, LOGOS is one of the major bible programs for computers and one that I have used extensively in my duties at church. My problem with them is they tend to be attune to politics. Of course, they are very interested in serving the most popular avenues of religious think but in that same atmosphere there is serious bible teaching. Logos is made to interact with other software development as an example of what I mean.
It seems to be heading down the same avenue as Thomas Nelson and others who try to have something for everyone. Here is a link telling about the company and its origins:
www.logos.com/about/history
I still have Logos on my computer and I get a lot of great material from the program. I would venture to guess that their educational materials will run in the same vein.
Grany
You just have to see this video and prepare to laugh!

I am going to try doing a tiny URL

Grany
is the Logos program/ministry different from the Logos software? they do have 2 different websites and the ministry website doesn't seem to make mention of using the lgos software.
on the other hand Is Ukraine next?
Big surprise Russia violates truce with Georgia
BTW i sent joel's last flash traffic to my dad who forwarded it on to someone he works with who used to be a high level person in the state department in the ME and here is his take on Joel Rosenberg
"Joel Rosenberg, whose book Epicenter I have read, is one of the better informed
writer/bloggers on Israel. He understands geopolitics and has a range of excellent
connections in Israel.
I agree with him that Israel is going to go after Iran if nothing else works to stop the
Iranian nuclear program. A nuke in the hands of someone who has repeatedly threatened to
wipe Israel off the map is a clear and present danger - a true existential threat. The
holocaust has burned "never again" into Jewish DNA. If/when Iran approaches
whatever Israel has defined as its "red line," Israel will act against Iran.
I also agree that the Iranian populace is fed up with government by corrupt ayatollahs.
However, Ahmadinejad and company have such strong political/security control that any
group which steps out of line gets shut down quickly and effectively. That makes the
development of any serious, widespread opposition extremely difficult (although
courageous Iranian bloggers keep trying) and means that while most Iranians are very
resentful, they generally keep their heads down and mouths shut in public.
Where I disagree with Rosenberg is in his tone (too much breathless overstatement for my
taste) and in his temptation to try to interpret end times. He has already been wrong on
several predictions over the past 10 years - which should give us pause about accepting
any of his prophecies.
Frankly, since everyone who has deigned to interpret Revelation, Daniel and Ezekiel over
the past 2,000 years has ended up looking like a fool (remember The Late, Great Planet
Earth?) my personal view is that a Christian's time is better spent carrying out the
Great Commission and Christ's commands to care for those about us than expending
inordinate amounts of time/effort/money trying to play prophet.
My two cents..."
i wish i had thought to copy my response but it went something like this
1-joel's fiction books are what if scenarios and are not meant to be taken as anything.
2-he doesn't expect necessarily that all his predictions will come true exactly as he says but he seems to have a better grasp than some
3-that we in the blogger sphere feel that studying eschatology helps us with the Great Commission since it gives a sense of urgency, and that it is a little difficult to watch and be prepared if you aren't trying to discern what is going on or what might happen
3-that Revelation promises a reward to those who read and seek to understand the book of Revelation
anyone else have anything they want to add?
It must be really cool to have parents who are Christians.
Joyce,
When Christ gave the Great Commission He specifically made reference to last things..."I am with you always, even to the end of the age." I'd say the study of it is very important and the "end of the age" reference is a huge clue!
I would also have to disagree that "everyone" who has tried to interpret Daniel, Rev, and Ezekiel has ended up looking like a fool.
(I'm wearing my photography hat today.)
my parents are the ones who led me to the Lord 40 years ago.
my dads parents were believers although they were the most legalistic unloving people truly. I could never understand growing up why my non christian grandparents (my mom's folks who did finally become christians before they died. my grandfather came to Christ as a direct result of my brother's death) were more loving, more giving and more like what Christians should be than the ones who were actually Christians.
I have been given to understand that all my great grandparents were believers and most of my extended family on my dad's side at any rate are believers. quite a few on my mother's side were also believers. I understand my mom's grandmother (whom I am said to resemble) was quite a christian.
having said all that, i still managed to stray as an sdult but due to the prayers of family and upbringin came back. not sure if they know how much i strayed but then again they really don't need to know that at this point since it was almost a couple of decades ago.
most of the time it was cool having parents who were Christians but not so much when you wanted to go to Prom.
JIB,
Logos. The two aren't related unless they happen to utilize the software named that. Our church used all of the Logos software and programs and I just rushed in and thought your church was doing the same thing. Sorry about that.
But it has been around for 45 years so their web site stated. What I read seems to be scriptural based and that would appear to exclude Purpose Driven influx. Might check at one of the Christian resource centers for their evaluation.
I liked what your father's friend said but I take exception to his remarks about playing prophet. I don't believe Joel is trying in the least to be a prophet. I believe his books were prophetically ordained by a higher power than State Department employee of whose agency cannot get the correct role for Israel right even after all of these 100's of years. If anyone needs to understand the significance of God's prophetic word, in todays world, it is the State Departments of the World.
You did well in rebuttal. Nicer than I would have been.
Grany
Yeah Donna,
I wish I did.
Jib, I think your father's attitude about eschatology is very prevalent-could even be considered main stream.
It's pretty close dead on to the response I got from an elder at my Church. Although he stated it more as he didn't feel called to be interested in that type of thing but rather to help the sick, needy, & do mission work. It almost had a "well this is more important" feeling to it-but maybe it was just my interpretation.
I believe there is a reason why some are more interested (driving passion interested) in eschology than others and something planted in our hearts leads us there.
We've been called to be interested & God can use us for kingdom work in various ways. It just may be to wake up the sleepers and spark the interest of unbelievers who would respond to such.
I think the key is to try and be well balanced in all things Godly.
Not to forget about Charity, Evangelizing, the Sick, etc..
So those forgetting about looking & watching for our Lord Jesus may just need a little reminder that we are told to do so and it also important.
Memorizing those "watch" and "blessing" scriptures are effective.
The scary part is the responsibility of the "watchmen". If you see something coming & don't warn......." Yikes! It's almost as bad (can't be bad right? since it's God's judgment.-I can't help it - should I say strict instead of bad?) as what happens to a shepherd who mis-leads his flock.
DNC Whitewashes their own partie's history on official site
Donna
yes it is cool as an adult, may be not so cool as a teen :-)
however they think I'm nuts because of my interest in prophecy and eschatology-I'm too interested I guess
how about "party's" instead of what I actually wrote.
oh well

I agree with what others have said...I have not thought of Hal or Joel and most of the others as claiming to be prophets. I view them more as prophecy teachers...who are trying to make the prophecies come alive for the average person.
I don't remember anything Hal LIndsey has claimed would happen that has not happen. He very well could have...I just am not sure.
I do credit him and his books and some other things with my becoming a Christian back in the 70's, probably before some/most of you were born!
By the way, Joyce, I have not read the Left Behind Series. I'm not all that big into fiction, I guess. (I ought to rent the movie sometime though.) One of my kids has read their books and has loved them.
A good friend of mine recently called as her son recently became a Christian. She has concerns about it all so contacted me to ask a bunch of questions as she knows I am a Christian. It's been great...really has opened a lot of doors for communicating with her about it all and of course it is very exciting that her son has accepted the Lord as his Savior for the forgiveness of sins.
Sure seems like a lot of people are becoming Christians!

What she says @ the very end is nice.
I am humbled by your envy of my parents being Christian. I should be more thankful.
thanks for the info Grany
I did check a couple of the discernment sites but didn't find anything. I could always ask
seems my brother was "fired" today. don't know about this school-they are 2 science teachers down for about 18 months, haven't even had anyone to interview, they have almost 400 more students coming in and they fired my brother.
unfortunately he has yet to recieve a contract from the place that offered him a job but he does have another interview tomorrow with a place in which school starts monday and they have a need for a teacher. it has pluses and minuses with it. guess it depends on money we'll see.
It definitely is cool that your parents are Christians. What a blessing! I can't imagine it!
I have prayed for years for my father and for the rest of my family.
I KNOW one day they will believe.
I just thought by now it would have happened!
I hope your brother finds a job. I will keep him in my prayers. Is he in az or me?

Donna; Hal Lindsey still gets flak because he speculated that the eighties might be a count down to Armageddon. He didn't prophesy anything but some persist in calling him a false prophet. I'm suppressing a tiny rant here ;-)

I would like to ask you all, or anyone who would like to comment what the following scriptures mean to you? In other words, what does it mean to you to "walk in the spirit"?
Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Rom 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Gal 5:16 [This] I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
How does this effect you in your everyday life? It is something I am looking into from various teachers and would like to get others input. Thank you for your replies.
Maranatha!
I guess we already knew the Russians were not going to just simply get out.(Would have been nice though.)
Russian foreign minister says to 'forget' about Georgia's territorial integrity
GT-I'll paraphrase your scripture into how I interpret it:
8:1 Our eternal spirits are not condemned to hell if we yield to the Holy Spirit who will mold and conform us into the image of Jesus Christ. We live not for things of this world but keep our minds on heavenly aspirations.
8:2 That the righteousness example of the old testameant law would be seen living in us who do not live for worldy pursiuts but heavenly.
5:16 Live with your mind on the Holy Spirit at all times and you will not sin.
5:25 Since the Holy Spirit lives in us -fully yield to Him to work through us every moment of every day.
(Easier said than done-it's takes continual yielding & practice to fully submit to God. But if it were not possible He wouldn't have told us it is. All things are possible through Christ who strengthens us.
It's part of the fight w/our flesh & Christian journey to spiritual maturity. I for one have not fully learned to yield that well-(every minute of everyday) but I continue to grow & keep my eyes on Jesus.)
Don't you wish He would just zap us into instant shape? That would be so much easier than this free will stuff.
"With God all things are possible
Approach life with a positive attitude and a can do philosophy; for with God all things are possible and we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
There is no problem that cannot be solved, no mystery that cannot be unveiled and no secret that cannot be uncovered.
The Spirit of Truth, the Holy Ghost, can and will teach us all things of both Heavenly and earthly mysteries.
Sometimes God will work miracles; but most of the time God will give us the wisdom and understanding to overcome the difficulties we face in our daily lives.
This imputing of wisdom and understanding is in itself and of itself a kind of miracle.
Like the Chinese say, If you give a hungry man a fish you feed Him for one meal; but if you teach him to fish you feed him for the rest of his life."

Donna
so you wouldn't get the comparisons of BHO to Carpathia. suffice it to say the plot line of Carpathia's rise to power of AC pretty much mirrors that of BHO to the point it's uncanny. the writers make it fairly clear in the book that the reason was satanic influence and that Carpathia had some borderline satanic type powers such as power of suggestion to reform people's thinking. At the time it made sense since who on earth would buy into a very jr government official with no experience becoming president of his country after 2 years or so in office, being received around the world with rock star like reviews in real life? Accepting that someone could do so in a book perhaps requires some willing suspension of belief I'll admit but in real life wow, didn't see that coming!
regarding Hal Lindsey he also id'd communist Russia as the Magog of Ez 38. He is right you know after a fashion both about communist Russia and the 80's being a countdown to Armageddon. All the people in Russia currently with any real power are cronies of Putin from the KGB. While admittedly a secret police system flourished under the Tsar's I think the commmunists brought it to a new level. They received their "training" under the old system and many feel that the whole westernization of Russia and a more open society was the single biggest mistake for Russia and they long to return to the glory days of communism. Putin has said so in public I believe.
which brings up how Lindsey was right after a fashion about the 80's leading up to Armageddon. The 80's were directly responsible for the break up of the USSR, the 80's trained the current crop of politicos in Russia, the days prior to the 80's are those with which Russia longs to return, the 80's saw a world wide looking at Russia with some weakness when they were not able to take and hold Afghanistan so I think the 80's were or are the source of Russia's current angst about their place in the world. May be the 80's was when the hook was set in the jaw and looking back we'll be able to say-hey we didn't know it at the time but that is when. I think at some point Lindsey may well be vindicated.
as to parents becoming Christians
my mother became a Christian in her very early teens or may be tweens as they say now. She prayed for her family's salvation for years. talk about faith and hope.
my grandfather didn't become a Christian until he was about 68 or so, my mother was around 34 at the time (around 1972). We're not sure when my grandmother became a Christian but she didn't tell or admit to my mom that she was until just before her death in 1999!
Her half brother-no one knows for sure but there are things which make my mom think that he might have been in his later years, her older brother became a christian just before his death in 2003 and her surviving brother may be. her half sister and that family have been Christian's since the mid 70's when a grandson died of leukemia. The family converted en masse.
so sometimes one's prayers can take a REALLY long time to be answered but they will be answered so don't lose faith! note however that none of my mom's family came to Christ until at least 20 years of prayers had passed. that's a long time to pray for something and not see results. I have no idea how faithful my mom was, how discouraged she got but in the end her prayers were answered.
There is some good info on Obama & Georgia in this Cutting Edge news article
A black pastor "Honorable James David Manning, of Atlah, New York World Missionary Church, Warns Americans of an Obama Presidency",
He is passionate and gives a great speech on this video about how Obama is undermining everything the former black leaders have accomplished throughout American History.
This may be a stretch but what if this "Todd Bentley" scenario in regards to Christians blindly following him w/o using any discernment is a parallel example of how many Black groups (Including black churches) and others are blindly following Obama.
We've already hinted on how the US and the situation in Georgia may be a foreshadow of how the US nor others will not come to the aid of Israel in the war of Gog/Magog.
By the way-I heard a US excuse for not coming to Georgia's military aid- We told you not to do that & you would not listen. Therefore we not getting involved military but we'll still support you in other ways.
Same with Israel asking the US for the weapons to try and hit Iran. The US reply was: We don't want you to strike Iran so we won't give them to you. But we'll give you some other weapons in order to defend yourselves from your enemies.
Maybe it's being set up this way in order for Biblical prophesy to ring true. The main clincher in all of this as we know-Oil.
I just came in for a break from stacking wood, but wanted to first say thanks for sharing all of that about praying for family memebers, etc., JIB!
I just noticed that David Reagans news page has been upgraded ...looks like a lot of great stuff.

while it might be true that the US told Georgia not to do something (and we would have been wrong to tell them not to protest what was going on in their own country), the fact remains that the original wrong doer in the Georgia scenario is Russia. the area over which they are fighting is the US equivalent of a state. A similar situation could theoretically arise in the US. There are people in that rogue state of Georgia who wish to be part of Russia and to that end Russia has armed them and given them Russian passports DESPITE the fact that the area in question is indisputably part of the sovereign nation of Georgia. So what would your response be if hispanics in southern texas, az or california decided that they wanted those areas to be part of Mexico again, Mexico then sent them arms to foment rebellion against the state governments and the US government and granted them mexican passports (those that don't have them already). Suppose the states then sent their national guard to contain the rebels and the mexican army then decided to come it and help the rebels out. It's actually not that far fetched because there are US citizens of mexican descent who DO want most of the american southwest "returned" to Mexico because they were "stolen" from Mexico illegally. check out La Raza and see what you come up with. Further there is evidence that the mexican army had been making incursions on US soil helping drug dealers and human smugglers. The mexican army recently held one of our border guards at gunpoint on the US side of the border. He had to call for back up thus leaving part of the border unguarded. As soon as back up arrived they went back to their side of the border. It was labeled as a "mistake" and that the army "didn't realize" they had crossed into US territory. Also despite the fact that our border agent id'd himself and the location in both english and spanish. But does anyone really think that one man is going to take on 4 with automatic weapons ? However according to one in the border guard there are markers all over the place and there was one quite close to where this happened. his comment was that they know exactly where they are and it was no accident. Apparently the incidences are also increased rather substantially over last year.
one of the prior posted articles mentioned that this Georgia/South Osstia was Putin's payback to the US for their recognition of Kosovo as an independent country. The situation is identical. Kosovo was a rogue territory/state that had never been it's own country ever who declared independence from their country (Bosnia I think). Putin OPPOSED this matter and I think rightly so. This time the Russians are aiding the rogue territory.
interesting points Lisa from that link on the 3 pronged plan of Russia. oil only plays a roll really because of the amount of power and influence it gives to who controls the most. ultimately it is about power and control with oil being a means to and end not the end itself.
gt:
In the context of Romans 8, we are seeing a comparison of unbelievers and believers. In verse one it is not an admonition but a statement. Believers don’t walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Conversely, unbelievers walk according to the flesh. Walk refers to a lifestyle, the habits of living and thinking that characterizes a person. Sinfulness characterizes the life of an unbeliever which can take on many different forms and varying degrees. It’s just a matter of what poison you choose to indulge in. Every believer is indwelt by the Holy Spirit, which is our power house for pleasing the Lord and walking in obedience and bearing fruit, but not every believer manifests the same quality of fruit and obedience to the Lord. I see directly related to walking in the Spirit is also walking according to the Word. As we let the word of Christ dwell in us richly, and submit to it, responding in obedience, we will bear quality fruit and grow and progress in our walk in the Spirit! This is why I see it to be so very important that we are in the Word daily. That is how my understanding of this affects my everyday life. (I believe the Galatians passage is more admonishment than statement.)
Joyce,
I don’t see Obama as a candidate for AC if he is elected president for a couple of reasons. Being a “little horn” seems to indicate AC will arise to power prior to being relatively unknown. Presidents of the US are very well known, big horns we might say. =) Also I believe AC will arise out of Europe. I see the reference in Daniel 7:8 where the “little horn” or AC comes up and three horns are uprooted as a reference to AC overthrowing three nations. It seems seven more then will fall in line under AC and then he will have his ten nation confederation which becomes “dreadful and terrible, exceedingly strong.” Since Obama wants to get us out of Iraq I can’t see him taking the US into any more conflicts.
My two cents…
Kathy,
no probably not but he sure does act like it.
could be that it is a ploy by satan to misdirect people from the man who IS the AC.
not convinced entirely that the man in question will be from Europe. I was at one time but not so much now. I think it depends on what was meant by "the people that destroy the temple". many have taken it to mean Roman and thereby somehow the AC must be of European stock BUT as Harold and many others have pointed out
1-the empire of Rome was made up of people from many different areas not just Romans or white Europeans
2-i don't get the sense from reading Paul's writings that folks who weren't actual roman citizens were considered "roman". I also seem to recall that from my ancient history classes as well. I also seem to recall from history lessons of the really distant past that one could earn one's citizenship through bravery in battle which suggest to me at least that many of the troops in the roman legions were not roman citizens. now these were elite troops so maybe they were roman citizens and therefore if so then yes one could infer that the AC would then be from Europe.
3-the actual troops who sacked Rome appear historically to be Arabs, not people we would consider of European descent.
I do agree that the little horn does appear to be an outsider from the 10 horns but as far as presidents being big horns etc remember we have no idea how much influence America will have in the last days so while she has been a big horn in the past it doesn't necessarily follow that she will continue as a big horn in the future.
besides there is no guarantee that BHO will be elected president.
lisa;
Thank you for that good reply to my question. I know that "walking in the spirit" is the key and most important part of the christian's life in Christ (I would say it is "the" christian life). It is not possible to be true believers without obeying the Spirit. I would also say it is the answer to our "abiding" debates.
I guess what is most discouraging is the lack of walking in the Spirit that we see in the church (by this I mean those who are called Christian)in the western world (I lack much here too). I would think that if we would focus on this teaching as much as Paul and the other Apostles did we would have a much different looking and acting church. We might not have the social gospel and other deceived churches we see now. Could this be the most important but untaught truth in the Gospels??
"Don't you wish He would just zap us into instant shape? That would be so much easier than this free will stuff." Sure do!! All of my choices are wrong when I make them from my own will and desires, but I still do it anyway (Paul's wretched man statement).
Any other comments?
Concerning Hal Lindsey, I have seen people criticize him mostly for his statement that 40 yrs was a generation. Out of this came the idea that the rapture may happen in the 1980's (although he did not actually state this). He was labeled a false profit, even though he was making no prophecy. He is a prophecy "teacher" not a prophet. Some people don't know the difference.

LISA: the grand excuse and assumed ploy is OIL but that is not the issue. The real issue is CONTROL AND SUBJUGATION. The dominant character trait of Satan is control and subjugation. The main goal of Satan is to destroy all that God has blessed and all that glorifies God in any way. That the two, Russia and Satan, are joined together is not a surprise. That is not to say that all of the Russian people are evil or Satanic but the spiritual world that drives and dominates is evil. That is one reason Daniel's prayers for Persia was so slow in being answered. Michael and Gabriel had to battle and subdue the prince over Persia (Iran) in order to deliver God's revelation to Daniel. If we allow the civil disintegration of the USA to continue as it has been doing, we will, by our own doing, bring on an evil domination to this country. If we keep on allowing all of the filth and lawlessness to continue unabated, we will pay a tremendous price, just the same as Israel paid.
In reading China's ancient history, it is surprising to learn that at the very beginning of their development, they were believers in God. Then after the Mongolians came, out of territory that is now part of Russia, they turned away from God and took up false idols to worship. Then when Paul was going on his missionary trips he was told by an Angel of the Lord not to go into Asia to preach the Way.
Now we see a mighty move of God in Asia but at that time, God would not allow the gospel to be taken to them.
I am so sorry that it has taken me so long to get this typed. I had some outside activities that had to be taken care of and hubby needed pampering.
MAC: I really, really, really agree with you on Darby and MacPherson. You don't want me to go there unless you have a couple of years to donate to my rant rage!
Oh, people, things are a happening very swiftly now or is it because I am slowing down. Whatever, I am ready for the Latte and Heavenly music to begin.

Joyce,
Obama definitely has "Messiah" charisma. I sometimes wonder if AC will be a European Muslim. Islam is growing by leaps in Europe...
For those interested...new article on election at my blog...
Taking another break...this is tiring work!
GT, I look at the walking in the spirit and abiding in the spirit as living the following way:
"Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all of your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3: 5&6
I think that sums things up quite well.
overcomer;
Thank you for the reply. I agree, with the idea of the Word being related to walking in the spirit. As Paul says by the "washing of the Word". So the Word also has a "cleansing" effect as well as a renewing effect to our minds.

Shalom, all! This is a letter that was posted over on the Catholic Answers Forum, in the "End Times Speculation" thread. I'm posting it for your edification:
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 13, 2008 06:22 AM, CDT
This is an e-mail message from Beth Moore about hearing Kay Arthur speak and reveal prophecy. A worrisome message for sure. We should consider it carefully and prayerfully. This was re-published July 7, 2008, in the church newsletter of Valley View Church, Louisville, KY, and distributed. (By the way, Priscilla Shirer is the daughter of the Rev. Dr. Tony Evans.)
Dear Ones,
On June 27th and 28th I attended a conference in Atlanta called Deeper Still. I was one of three speakers ˆ the others being Kay Arthur And Priscilla Shirer. I looked forward to a special time of worship and Having God convict me of my sins and lead me to areas in my life where I Need to change. I have been to similar conferences for years, although None this large and with so many well-known speakers. There were over 20,000 women in attendance at the Phillips Arena in Atlanta - they said It was the largest crowd ever.
I had an idea of what to expect from the conference, but nothing Prepared me for what actually happened. I feel led to share my Experience with family and friends. This is important, so stay with me!
When Kay Arthur took the stage you could just tell that her Spirit was heavy and there was a certain 'heaviness' in the atmosphere Even before she started to speak. She said that she had been literally Physically sick to have to bring us this message and right out the gate She said, 'We are in grave danger.' She said that God had revealed to Her that a literal famine is coming to America.. Physical, not Spiritual. She said that God is moving in judgment against our nation. I Know I can't describe this well enough, but the atmosphere was ominous.
Kay is a seasoned speaker and she had to BATTLE to get through Her message. She stumbled over scriptures and had an extremely difficult Time. At times I was almost expecting her to collapse. At one point she Just had to stop and pray. There was no person, myself included, that I Could see who did not have tears streaming down their faces. As you may Know, Kay Arthur is normally a very confident, composed speaker, but she Was literally in a spiritual battle and it was taking place right before My eyes. I have never seen anything like it.
She went on to give 7 things that Christians must do during this Time and I am going to give those to you now:
1. Return to God. Jeremiah 4:3 - Break up the fallow ground - Return to Me. Repent. Get on your face before God and ask him to break Your heart with the things that break His heart.
2. Mourn. Jeremiah 9:17-18 and Ezekiel 9 - It is time to weep Because our nation's sin is incredible.
3. Pray. Jeremiah 36:7 - Pray fervently, passionately for America.
4. Love God's Word. Jeremiah 20 - You MUST love the Word of God And be in the Word of God. I was particularly convicted here because I Know I have not been as deeply in His Word as I need to be. She said we Must get serious about this.
5. Love others as Jesus loved them. Jeremiah 31:3 and John 13:34.
6. Introduce people to Jesus Christ. It's time to get serious About this. This is no time for timidity. Jeremiah 31:31; Jeremiah 33:1-9, 15, 17.
7. Rest. If you will do these things, then rest in the fact that You have done God's will. She said that it is going to be vitally Important for us to get enough physical rest. She went on to say that God has not given us a spirit of fear and that if we are obedient to Him, we will be protected. She said to read Ezekiel 14 over and over until you understand it. This is what God will do if a country turns against Him. She said that this is going to be a calamity (she used the word calamity in such a way that you knew this is going to be no small thing for our country), and gave many more scripture references, but what I have given you are the main points that she made.
I hope you know that I would not have sent this to you if I had not been profoundly affected by it and feel it is of great importance to share it. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you will do with this information what you feel led by God to do.
Love in Christ Jesus, Beth
<><
GT, walking in the Spirit is walking or living in the power of God's Holy Presence. By His Spirit we know right from wrong and we long for and run after His presence at all times. The flesh is weak but the Presence of the Holy Spirit brings strength to endure the temptations.
IMHO
Grany
Wow, what a powerful message Jim , thank you so much for sharing it!
BTW, I LOVE Tony Evans!
<><
GT,
My two cents about walking in the spirit.
It's continual. (it's about free will, you can stop and get into other things, etc.) Staying in the Word, (the washing of the Word, is a good word) Plus since the Word is often compared to water? You can have a drink of water, but you need to keep drinking water to stay healthy.
Jen,
If you have a Dake's Bible, the Pre-Adamic world is described with many Scriptures.
However, if you actually believe in an Old Earth, be prepared to duck and run, LOL! Most Evangelicals are not only Young Earth, but are also ready and (mostly) willing to label any other thinking as being a heretic! Why? I actually dunno. I've just learned to duck and run :) Although Jewish tradition teaches an Old Earth, from what little I've studied.
Jim,
Interesting article about Kay Arthur, recorded by Beth Moore.
I've followed both women's ministries, to some extent. And I'm sure, if questioned about this word, they would both agree, that prayer can alter these circumstances. Prayer changes things. Which goes back to GT's question, about walking in the spirit.
"If my people that are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray......"
About the Beth Moore email, I hate to be an old stick in the mud, but
snopes says partly true
And
Kay’s open response to questions about a "Famine" in the US
"This was said in the context of my reference to Ezekiel 14. In other words, we are inviting a famine because famine is one of the Lord’s judgments on a nation that commits unfaithfulness (Ezekiel 14:12-20)."
Neither Kay nor snopes comment on Kay's demeanor during the talk.
Oh, yes, Beth Moore says it was "another Beth", not her.
All that being said, the seven points are good to follow anyway. Right?
Anne,
Thanks for doing the research into the Kay Arthur/Beth Moore thingy. When I read it, bells and whistles went off in my spirit.
Immediately 2 Chronicles 7:14 came to mind:
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways;
then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and heal their land."
Which is what I beleive Kay Arthur was trying to get over to believers.
Jib,
(Don't get flustered w/me I agree with you.) I was just stating what I had read in regards to the excuse of the US involvement or lack there of. Being a So.Cal native I am well aware of what's happening on the Mexican/La Raza front. That's why I think Hugo Chavez also plays a very dangerous scenario for the US. If the Mexico La Raza group thinks they can conquer their land back from the US then they may team up w/Chavez to do just that.
20 years ago I was aware that the Mexicans from that mind set were coming to the US both legally & illegally to breed in order to basically take over by shear numbers. Back in San Diego/LA-except for a few pockets-A Caucasian is definitely now a minority. I heard when Obama was questioned about the Mexican border issues he basically stated it was time for everyone to learn Spanish.
Jim C.
Thanks for sharing that warning. I can relate to her urge to mourn. When I really get into thinking about the spiritual condition of the US & Europe I also have episodes of mourning inside. I try to convince myself not to be such a baby about it-but maybe I should mourn. She has a definite point. Isn't that what they did in the OT ? Also wear sackcloth & ashes. (I'm not doing that one)
See, after reading that article I have a new perspective!
(I wonder if her sense of dread ties into what Obama will do to our country if he's elected since God knows who it will be. Not that Mc.Cain is a Saint either but he probably will not do anything close to what Obama has in mind.)
grany and marge;
Thank you for the replies, that was a good analogy about the word and water marge. I may have more questions for you all later, depends on how my search goes for references on the subject. God bless you all for helping.

Glenn beck featured the whole oil thing a couple of nights ago on his show. he might have something on his website about it. btw, the defense department is using coal gasification for a not insignificant amount of it's gas as well. saw that on Glenn Beck too.
You all are busy little beavers tonight. We went out for dinner and now I am thinking maybe we all need to get used to eating a little less each meal so we can deal with limits later.
I did some real checking on the Kay Arthur report Jim and if you Google "Kay Arthur Deeper Still" you will find a lot of sites to go to. Kay denies she used the word "God revealed" but the rest she does not deny. But I found it very interesting that she is saying what a whole lot of us have been experiencing for quite some time, in fact way back in April and May of 2007. I really believe the woman, who was sharing Kays remarks with others on the email messages named Beth, is definately not Beth Moore at all. But this woman who was in attendance took what Kay had to say as a message from God and if the truth be known, she is of the Full Gospel, Charismatic or Fundamental Faith movement. That is how they would speak of what they hear her say.
If I was to tell you that God revealed to me a certain thing there would be those who would call it a Word of Prophecy, while some others would simply say I was just suffering from eating too much pizza. So, bible teachers tend to be very careful in making statements with those words. God's Holy Spirit does reveal to us all of the time or as God sees fit to. Some believers don't have a problem with it and some do. Kay wants to avoid extremism and I can definitely understand why!
I thank you Jim for sharing that and it is very encouraging to know that believers are listening. Now whether we take it seriously or not remains to be seen.
Yes, Marge, the Jewish people do think in terms of an ancient earth, at least a lot of them do.

jib;
I watch Glenn Beck quite often and did see some of his segments on the domestic oil exploration problems. I also learned that the technology of coal gasification goes back to WW2 where the Germans were producing fuel from coal to try to keep their war machines going, so that is not a new technology. We should be doing that again now to help solve the oil crisis problem, but as Beck pointed out the "greens" have blocked that technology for years now. If we had implemented these things years ago we would not be in this crisis now. It is an absolute fact that government gets in the way of any good solution that is developed. Almost like they want to keep us in crisis situations. At least Al Gore (and others like him) seem to want that, he doesn't have to suffer any of the consequences of his bad proposals. They seem to be in control (at least for now) of the course of government thinking. Praise God that He has the final say in all of his creation!! Amen?
Maranatha!
Praise God that He has the final say in all of his creation!! Amen? Amen, GT.
BTW; I fished out Hal's book (my mother owns the book!) "The 1980's: Countdown to Armageddon". He may have been premature re the timing but skimming through the book, it is patently obvious that Hal had/has his finger on the pulse! Virtually all the same drivers are in place - Russia, oil, the ME...
GT, Shalom! The reason the defense department is doing all this is because for the most part military bases are excluded from environmental regulations. They don't have to file environmental impact statements to build something like this (related to National Security), so it makes it perfect for trying out technology like this. If it turns out to work, then the company (Bell Bio-Energy, Inc.) can take what it learns and create commercial plants around the country. (Gee, I wonder if "Texas Tea" will become "Iowa Ale"?)
Another very promising technology is Thermal Depolymerization. Basically, it take any long hydrocarbon polymer chain (such as chicken guts or plastics) and uses heat and pressure to break these polymer chains down to shorter ones, producing a light sweet crude very close to diesel. Do a Google search on "Thermal Depolymerization" and you'll find quite a few sites that will explain the process.
<><
GT, Shalom! I agree about how we need to start REALLY working on this technology now. I read all these complaints that the off-shore drilling, etc. won't produce results for 7-10 years. BIG WOOP! If we had started the drilling 7-10 years ago, this wouldn't be an issue today!

Grany, I agree with your thoughts. I only pointed out that the email was not from Beth Moore because she (Beth Moore), on her blog, requested that people clear things up if they receive the email. I should have made that point in my original comment.
I'm looking forward to release of the video so I can watch for myself. As I investigated this I found no comments about Kay's affect during her talk and would like to know if she truly "had a difficult time" because her spirit was so heavy. As you may remember, this kind of judgement is just what I am anticipating on our nation, and so I watch for the comments of our spiritual leaders.
jim c;
"The reason the defense department is doing all this is because for the most part military bases are excluded from environmental regulations".
Yes, a very good point, although this is not pointed out by most commentators who speak on these subjects. Seems to be another example of exclusionary thinking by our gov. Anything is acceptable for gov to do but it is not for the masses. The "green" agenda is still too powerful here.
"I read all these complaints that the off-shore drilling, etc. won't produce results for 7-10 years. BIG WOOP! If we had started the drilling 7-10 years ago, this wouldn't be an issue today"!
Exactly! But the actions of gov are always "crisis" motivated when they should be forward thinking motivated. Any private company would not survive in the economic world very long with this kind of thinking. Its not like they did not see it coming a looong way off!
Thank God there are still forward thinking people working on these things. Problem is, will they be able to "act" without "green" intervention?
Maranatha!
GT, Shalom! I'm not adverse to "green" regulations. I'm old enough to remember when the Ohio River caught fire and "swimming in Lake Michigan" was considered a joke. My big problem is trying to anticipate ALL environmental impacts, and trying to select for NO environmental changes at all. It's why we haven't built any new oil processing plants in the US in the last 30 years, and why we have more operational nuclear reactors in the military (Navy) than in commercial use.

this one likely falls into the realm of caution. it is an interesting premise but I would note in the examples given that the author doesn't use one type of distance measurement to make his case he uses all sorts of measurements to make his case-some measurements are in feet, some nautical miles etc. this ought to be right up Lisa's alley.
speaking of-Lisa I figure I don't ever have a prayer of getting out of medicine all though thankfully in the Millenial kingdom it should be far easier than today-ie perhaps not technology based. Lest you think I'm crazy keep in mind that there will be people without glorified bodies, lots of them around, and while satan is bound up for a time there still will be sin and the curse i don't thin will have been lifted. I guess the good news is there won't be any lawyers, insurance companies etc around to spoil what in general is a fun way to make a living. so be careful what you ask for. it might be fun however to do something more artistic with my time such as weave cloth, grow masses of flowers, cook etc.
is this and example of how BHO would lead the country and should he start watching for that knife in his back?"

Shalom, all! The Vatican just released new rules that state that "Yahweh" cannot be used in any liturgical music or ritual. Although this means that some of my favorite hymns will need to be rewritten ("Yahweh, I know you are neeeeeaaar. Standing aaalllways at my siiiiide..."), I can understand the reason. Apparently, some priests have been substituting "Yahweh" for any gender-specific mention of G_D. While using the name Yahweh can be reverent and deferential, to use it so that you don't have to refer to G_D as King (and not G_D as Queen) is disrespectful, so the Vatican is clamping down on the practice.
Someone on the Catholic Answers Forum wrote this in reply. Enjoy!
By Ghoti, re: No more "Yaweh"
Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, and he led the flock to the far side of the desert and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. There the LORD appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. So Moses said to himself, "Self!" And Moses replied, "What?" and Moses said, "Go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up." And Moses said, "Okay."
When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, He called to him from within the bush, "Moses! Moses!" And Moses replied, "What?"
"Do not come any closer," the LORD said, "and take off your sandals."
Moses said in awe, "For this is holy ground?"
The LORD relied, "No, it's just that I got this puppy really stoked, and your straps are starting to smolder."
So when Moses had obediently removed his sandals and reverently extinguished his feet in the sand, he asked, "Who are you?"
The LORD said, "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob." At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God, and because his eyebrows were beginning to singe.
The LORD said, "I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and lamenting because of their suffering. Truth to tell, I'm getting tired of the whining. So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into Promised Land."
And Moses said, "What is this Promised Land?"
And the LORD said, "The land I'm promising you. Keep up, son! So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt."
Moses said to the LORD, "Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' Then what shall I tell them?"
The LORD said to Moses, "I don't have a name. I don't need one."
But Moses replied, "Everyone has a name! How shall we call you?"
And the LORD replied, "'God' works. Or 'LORD', with all caps. 'Father' is cool, too. Doesn't really matter, I'll know when you are talking to me."
But Moses cried, "But they are not names!"
And the LORD replied, "Look, mate, you lot all have names to tell each other apart. I do not have a name, because I don't need to be told apart from anyone. I am the LORD your God."
But Moses was in anguish. "That makes no sense! I cannot just say 'God has sent me' or "The LORD has sent me'! They will ask, 'Which God?' or 'What Lord?'"
And the LORD replied, "I need no name, for I just am. I Am who I Am."
And Moses dared to look up and said, "Come again?"
And the LORD repeated, "I Am who I Am", or in the language of the day, "Yahweh".
And Moses brightened and answered, "Yahweh!"
And the LORD replied, "Uh, no, see, not you, but 'I Am…'"
But Moses was filled with joy, for he knew the Name of the LORD. "I shall go to the Children of Israel, and their Parents, and say, 'Yahweh saith, "I will deliver you out of bondage and bring to the Promised Land!"'"
And the Lord interjected, "Whoa, there, pilgrim, that's not My name, I just said…"
But Moses heard Him not, but said, "And I shall say to Pharaoh, 'Yahweh saith, "Let My people go!"'"
And the LORD did sigh a mighty sigh, such that the sound was heard down the slopes of Horeb, and throughout the lands of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Jebusites, and even rustled some leaves in what would eventually be known as Muncie.
And the LORD relented and said, "All right, call Me 'Yahweh'…"
But then Moses said, "But, lo, it is not meet that I should call my LORD by His Name, for it is Holy, and I must not profane it."
And the LORD said, "Say what? You just spent all this time prying a name out of Me, a name I never had nor needed, and when I finally give you one, you won't use it?"
But Moses was steadfast, and said, "None shall say Thy Name, O LORD, lest we profane It. We shall call You 'The Name', and when we write the Name, we won't use vowels, whenever we get around to inventing them. For the Name of the LORD is holy! Blessed be His Holy Name, which no one will ever say, or write properly (and it will get even better when they finally expand the alphabet and add 'J' and 'W'!), so that eventually no one will be able to profane it because they won't know how to pronounce it!"
And the LORD said unto Himself, "Gevalt…"

thanks for the heads up on joel's new blog.
seems like google is doing that a lot lately. a number of articles have appeared in which people who blog against BHO are having their blogs shut down. google apparently has some sort of complaints mechanism by where if someone doesn't like your blog postings they can file a complaint with google and google of course operates under the guilty until proven innocent doctrine. the complaints again anti bho folks have all been based on false claims and eventually the blogs restored. suspect someone doesn't like joel's take on russia or the ME and made a false accusation of some sort.
about those locusts-that was really rather creepy.

i posted about the time bomb with the link advising caution. i had read the article and find that he is inconsistent with his use of measurements-for some he uses nautical miles, some feet, some miles etc. my gut level feeling is if you have to finagle the numbers that much (comes of reading to many journal articles I suppose)...
Thanks, Alesia and Jib, for the information about Joel's new blog.
Anne and Grany,
I'm sure that Kay Arthur had a good word for her conference. (or where ever she spoke) However, something didn't ring clear (right) about the description (in the e-mail) from the Beth person, is all.
What are we going to do about the information given about an upcoming famine?
Get the good news of the Gospel out to more and more people. And pray, that God, has mercy on this nation.
Prayer changes things. Just to clarify my response.
Have a great day! And God bless!
pray for a friend of mine who has a lot on her plate right now
1-her teenage daughter K has decided she hates her mom T. K owes her life to me since I talked her mom out of the abortion 17 years ago and we share middle names. K has never had any contact with her biological father because he was as T found out after the fact an abusive drug addict. K has decided she wants to know the man who doesn't even know and never knew she exists. She does and doesn't like her step dad. T got married when K was 8 or there about. Her step dad's mom is a horrible person (personal knowledge not hearsay she was incredibly insulting, and I've got fairly thick skin, at their wedding and we had literally just met) who has done her best to undermine T and K both with her son and overtly favors the "blood" grandchild over both T and K. T made her daughter go to a Christian school last couple of years but allowed her to return to public school this year. T and K are both believers although K thinks she's a better believer than her mom (also personal knowledge). so apart from the teen angst which T realizes will eventually end T is also dealing with the imminent demise of her dad who was K's father figure for her early life. K blames T for her grandfather's illness (yea not really quite sure how that works either)
2-I had asked prayer for T's dad before. He was immo the victim of serious med mal and has done all sorts of aggressive treatment for this metastatic cancer which has ultimately failed. he is barely responsive at this time and they are bringing him home today since he did not wish to die in the hospital. this will be devestating. T's dad is definitely the patriarch type. Fortunately he is a believer and we will see him again someday. T has yet to tell her daughter how bad he is on the advice of T's younger sister because K blames her mother right now for everything.
I wish I could be there to hold T's hand and shake some sense into that godchild of mine.
T's folks are wonderful salt of the earth types and I have enjoyed knowing them. Her dad had such a hilarious sense of humor and is a real gem. Her mom is a gentle soul and an amazing woman. I worked with her mom at the hospital I did my residency at before meeting her daughter. You could have knocked my over with a feather when I found out they were related. Good thing I thought her mom was a cracker jack nurse to begin with. Some how they credit me with setting their daughter on the straight and narrow-personally i think it was in spite of me not necessarily because of me since that was when I had strayed from my faith when we first met.
sorry to meander and reminisce.
Jim
very funny!!!!
jib,
I must have missed your previous post about the Time Bomb article. I have been so far behind on my blog reading over the last 3 or 4 weeks that I miss much of what gets posted. :-(
I agree with what you said about David switching up his units of measurement. I noticed that as well when I read the article and it gave me pause. However, I don't want to throw the baby out with the bath water, so I am interested in what all he has to say.
I find with almost every book I read (apart from the Bible) there are always sections I question or outright reject no matter who the author is. It comes down to the fact that no one has it all correct. I try to weigh everything before I reject it. If it doesn't contradict or bring into question scripture, I give it a closer look. It is amazing some of the nuggets you pick up in the most obscure places.
"There is a principle that is a bar against all information, which is proof against all argument, and which cannot fail to keep man in everlasting ignorance. That principle is condemnation before investigation.

This must be a sign from God.
Or should I really type G_d?
Why do some leave out the o ? Is it a sign of respect? God is not His name so I don't get it. Jim C. I'm sure you know the answer.
My husband was telling me of a Young Russian Female Attorney that works at his firm.
(He describes her as "movie star drop dead good looking.")
They were discussing the Russia situation as she is from Moscow.
She loves Putin as he has revived Russia & thinks of him as a great leader. Her "insiders" view is that Georgia went into that area to "ethnically cleanse" it so she doesn't feel sympathy for the Georgians.
She then send an article to my husband from what he called "a facist, communist,Jewish left winged liberal" who blamed the incident on George Bush. (Which my hubby thinks is ridicules BTW.)
So he's now going to see if she knows about the prophesy of Ezekiel 38/39.
I thought she's probably atheist (Coming from Moscow) but I guess we'll soon find out.
Jib, That book does look intriguing!
If we are not a teacher/priest type in the Millennium then it’s possible we could work in our old professions. In that case I could be working with you in designing/space planning the building you’ll be practicing in. (That way we would only have limited exposure.)

Thoughts??
Late Night Lisa---I am eagerly awaiting the young Russian's knowledge (if any) of Ezekiel....Keep us posted...
So funny---I have been MIA for some time as my husbands job has us relocating--yet again. I am in Maine right now until the 23rd, then its back to Ohio for a charity benefit we are organizing---then its down to Mississippi. I have lived in many places but this is my first time in the SOUTH. Im excited. Anyway, whats funny is I have been so swamped and really out of the loop on the daily news--but as I am able to listen and read more in the last few days, I come to you all, my trusty brothers and sisters in Christ--to help me sort things out. Thank you!
I want to ask for prayers while I am here, for a friend. A 27 year old player for my husband's team in Ohio was burned in a tragic lawnmower accident on July 17th. He has 3rd degree burns over approx 70% of his body and is currently in the burn unit at Akron Childrens Hospital. He is a married father of three---and in one fell swoop, his life has changed. A real battler as an athlete--I know he will battle even harder throughout this fight to heal his body.
What has astounded me is the outpouring of love and support for this family. He had no insurance and he is surely facing an uphill battle on all levels...so my husband and I along with a group of people from Youngstown and really around the globe (no kidding) have rallied to put together an event to help raise money for him and his beautiful family. We are having a charity hockey game at the Chevy Ctr in Youngstown on Aug 24th. Its such short notice for such a big affair, but we were all up for the challenge--in fact THRILLED to be able to take part.
If you have any interest in reading his wife's daily journal it is at:
www.caringbridge.org/visit/jasonbaird
Its very touching and inspirational, and she definitely has the faith she needs to get through this.
I miss you all---
In His Name,
JCChick
Anne, I see, I see. But I also didn't want anyone to misunderstand why she had posted a correction to the message that has been received by a ton of people. Me included (about 16 times). Kay Arthur is a very respected Bible teacher and conservative to boot. In addition to all of that Anne, Beth Moore who was also a speaker at that conference, denies the authorship of the email. In fact, it doesn't sound like Beth Moore in the least to me.
So we have a person who has pretended to be Beth Moore, one of the speakers at this conference, saying that she heard Kay make the reverence to God Revealed so and so" and now what do we put the value on the email as?
Most of the blogs mentioning the speech have mixed reports on the tenor of the speaker but that could simply be a personal/emotional state of mind at the time of hearing or could be influenced by the receipt of the email.
Like you, I am anticipating the actual release of the recorded message. I have a letter in the process to Beth Moore at her ministry headquarters asking her to clarify the whole subject. Beth is a very precious person and I feel comfortable in asking her this question. I will let you know what I learn.
Besides all of that everyone, what Kay Arthur told the 20,000 attendees is nothing new to most of us here on at the cave and also, Joel's. But I still do not think we are to let fear get into the formula. We are prepared and know that God has the final say in all things. Just keep doing what he shows and tells us to do. But do it with JOY and LOVE that always brings PEACE.
Grany
JCChick,
Report: He mentioned Ezekiel 38/39 to her but she had not heard of it.
I pasted a couple links & he's going to forward them to her.
One explaines the prophesy & the other was a link to the Epicenter book.
(Could spur some interest? who knows.)
Lisa re: your Young Russian Attorney, quick question:
Is she married? ;-)
Jim, down boy, down!
Oh we are getting some wonderful soft and much needed rain. It feels so good I think I will go out and play in the street like the other kids are doing. Yeah, they still love to play in the ditches and we have an added bonus. One of the mains is leaking (has been for over 10 years) and all of the gutters are washed every Thursday by the city crews. So, in this neighborhood, it is safe. The squeals and laughter just really is music to my ears. They are the cutest kids you would ever want to see and boy, does this neighbor have a diversity in nationalities. But those kids are totally oblivious of the difference and just having a ball. Around here we shoot predators and ask questions later. Don't have many of those pred gators around here anymore.
Well, time for senior citizens lite meal so I have to close.
Grany
Funny, Jim!
Thanks for the words of wisdom, Grany.
It is kind of scarey, all of these problems that seem to be brewing with US and Russia.
Sounds like there have been some problems with Kay Arthur and the conference she spoke at...that's too bad. All I know is that she is a gifted teacher.
Jchick, so nice to hear from you and we will be praying!
<><
Shalom, all! I'm just going to provide a link to the thread on the Catholic Answers Forum. In addition to the ground war, there has been some pretty significant naval action too. According to this thread (Inside the Battle for the Black Sea), the Russian naval forces would have had to set sail as soon as the ground fighting started. Meaning their boilers, engines, etc. would have had to have already been running.
Interesting...

On Joel's new blogsite, there's a broken link to a news story about Iran and Turkey reaching a deal on a gas pipeline. Here's a fixed link to the story:

Cloning, locusts, computers, Rick Warren...sounds very end-timish to me! :)
Interesting if Joel's blog was shut down due to comments about the ME or Obama (though I can't remember any direct criticisms of him by Joel).
So, what was our backup plan if we get shut down? Maybe we should review and also let the new ones (Vickie, Jim G, others?) know what to do if we suddenly can't post, or sumping (been around my granddaughter too much, starting to talk like a two-year-old).
Am I paranoid??
Alesia, I was reading your comments to my husband and he said you witnessed the plague of locusts.... all three of them! LOL
We had a good laugh.
I'd be very surprised if Joel's blog was shut down due to his expressing any sort of opinion...and I don't recall him saying anything against Obama either.
I am guessing it was some sort of computer glitch.
Lori thanks for all those links! Your fingers must have gotten sore from all that typing!

I just received a very interesting pamphlet from Koinonia House, "The News Journal of Koinonia House and in it titled "Reflections of His Image" by Nancy Missler. Sounds like something GT would benefit from reading per his previous enquiry. I would venture to guess the web site has the same article on it. I would check to see but my resolve is lazy tonight. Any way tomorrow I will check it out for you.

A Prayer Request... Moriel Missionary Reports on South Ossetia
MORIEL MINISTRIES - By Jason Catizone - August 11, 2008
Hi everyone - for those who have been watching world news over the past few days, you've undoubtedly seen the stories about the bloodshed in South Ossetia/Georgia. This short email will hopefully inform you a little more as to what's going on there, and also show how it relates to the people of Beslan - seriously impacting their future as well.
Beslan is a small town located in southern Russia; basically, locate Moscow on a map, and head as far south as you can within Russian territory. You'll see the Republic of North Ossetia; Vladikavkaz is the Republic's capital, and Beslan is one of the small towns nearby.
North Ossetia (as you can probably guess) is very close to South Ossetia/Georgia. When the Soviet Union was in power, both North and South Ossetia were all part of the USSR - as was Georgia and many other modern-day countries. When the Soviet Union collapsed, many areas broke free from Russian control and declared their independence. North Ossetia remained part of Russia, but South Ossetia became separated by the geographical border of newly-established Georgia.
But though the Ossetians are now separated by a political border, they remain one ethnic group - and in their opinion, South Ossetia is just that: South Ossetia... it's not Georgia. South Ossetia has declared their independence from Georgia, but Georgia has routinely and brutally attacked South Ossetia in order to drive them into North Ossetia (Russia) and thus claim the land as their own.
The present circumstances are simply another attempt by the Georgians to kill or drive out (whichever is easier) the Ossetians from "their" land. I understand that this is a major and complex topic, but so far as I understand it, it is the Georgians who have created and continue to perpetuate the violence. I lived in North Ossetia/Beslan for about a year and a half of combined time, and though I would never try to say that Ossetians are perfect, I don't believe that they are the ones who are the guilty party in the current conflict.
Why? Well, because many of the people who live in Beslan are originally from South Ossetia, but had to flee to North Ossetia when there was fighting between the Georgians and the Ossetians in the early 90s. You may recall Grandma Nahzee, the grandmother I stayed with while living in Beslan. Nahzee is one of the many people I know in Beslan who are from South Ossetia. She told me numerous stories of atrocities committed by the Georgians, and Nahzee is not one to just sit around and make up stories about other ethnic groups just for the fun of it. She bears a very personal wound from the violence in the 90s: the Georgians were often robbing Ossetian homes, and so they had to appoint young Ossetian men to stand guard outside their homes to prevent the Georgians from plundering them. Nahzee's youngest son was on guard for such a task, and was tragically shot and killed. He was only 21 or so. Grandma Nahzee and thousands of other South Ossetians fled to the North Ossetia for safety.
I will never be one to stand up for the Russian's method of doing things... but I will say that as best as I can understand what's going on now, Russia was/is not the guilty party who brought all of this up. The Georgians once again attacked South Ossetia first, and many people were killed. And thus Russia - who relatively speaking supports and helps the Ossetian people - stepped up and basically set out to quench the Georgians' mayhem. I'm not trying to assert that Russia's motives are necessarily 100% pure in this... for the outcome of this crisis holds great promise for the winning side. If Georgia wins, South Ossetia will be conquered, and the Georgians will finally control the land. If Russia wins, South Ossetia may very likely become included in Russian territory. But regardless, I don't believe for a minute that the Ossetians started this crisis - it was the Georgians, and Russia has simply stepped in to back the Ossetians in their defense. Russia isn't known for being the most tactical in their handling of crises (let's not forget the Moscow Theater fiasco or their "handling" of the Beslan tragedy), but Georgia began this current violence.
The reality is that war and hatred do terrible things... civilian children are shot and killed, buildings are blown up, and refugees are forced to flee and start their lives over again from scratch. All this is taking place very close to where The Lord blessed me to have served, and I can say quite frankly that the current situation could very easily spill into North Ossetia and ignite the already volatile area of southern Russia.
The timing of all of this couldn't have been worse - in just three short weeks, the town of Beslan will again be thrown back into sorrow and pain as they commemorate the 4th year anniversary of the Beslan terrorist attack. This is the first anniversary that I won't be able to be there with them physically, and I am obviously very sad that I'm won't be there during these coming days of sorrow (September 1-3). The last thing people like Grandma Nahzee need is the threat of an all-out war as she mourns her granddaughter Sofia who was killed in the Beslan school massacre in 2004.
Nahzee is an amazing woman of God who loves and clings to Jesus, but you can imagine how the current bloodshed in South Ossetia is once again ripping her heart apart. South Ossetia - the land where she was born and orphaned as a young child. South Ossetia - where she grew up in an orphanage, married, had four kids, and then lost her husband at a young age. South Ossetia - where her youngest child was shot and killed by a Georgian. South Ossetia - the home she fled in order to move to Beslan, a "safer" area to live in - only to lose her beloved granddaughter years later in a vicious terrorist attack. As I read the news of what's happening, it seems so far away, so remote, so surreal. But then I remember dear people like Nahzee, and it brings the reality of what's happening back into focus.
Please pray for the people of South Ossetia, Georgia, North Ossetia, and Russia.
Please pray that The Lord works this out so that more will come to faith in Jesus Christ His Son.
And please pray for the people of Beslan, many of whom are originally from South Ossetia... their past wounds have been reopened, and all they have ahead of them is the commemoration of their dead children and other loved ones who were massacred in the Beslan terrorist attack.
The people of Beslan need true healing, and true hope... and His Name Is Jesus.
grany;
Thanks for posting about the article "Reflections of His Image".
It does answer the questions about the connection between "abiding" and "walking" in the Spirit. It helped me to get a clearer picture on the topic, and as I suspected it is the central theme of the christian life. I am still doing further study. God Bless!
lisa;
Good letter on the situation in Georgia. I would guess like most conflicts, this one has many gray areas. It still doesn't seem like Russia is one to be compassionate and come to another country's aid without sinister motives. Its their threatening of the other breakaway states that doesn't make sense. Any that are trying to align with the west are now targets. If it was just the Georgians misbehaving why would Russia threaten the others? Seems to be more to it than that.
Maranatha!
JCChick
good to see you. how did the young man named Jeff with the head injury do? to others-a 70% burn is VERY serious especially if all 3rd degree. we used to calculate hospital stay by % burn-one day for each per cent body surface area. it's not only surviving the burn but many do not adjust well to their post burn look since it can and does leave marked disfiguring scars.
we already have an alternate spot set up by Nate at yahoo. requires an invite though.
since his (Joel's) site is still up may well be a computer glitch but google has been playing hardball with folks lately.
