I also would like to know how to take podcasts and put them on my mp3 player. I have seen several sermons that I'd love to listen to but don't really have the hour or so to sit and listen at one time

prayer request

I have been talking with my son on what it takes to be a good boy and how only Jesus can make him a good boy. That he still might do naughty things but Jesus will be there to help him to good things and right things. I told him about asking for forgiveness and being sorry for things and that Jesus will wash him all clean.

Shall we agree and pray that the Word of God that goes out does not come back void?

This is going to sound really strange but I think we should lift up Britney Spears in prayer tonight. She has had much and believed her own press but unless a miracle happens will end up like Anna Nicole Smith, separated from God forever. I've never been a particular fan of hers and think much of her current problems are of her own doing but each of us on earth at some point seeks destruction-some just do it in a bigger way and more in front of the public eye. When I look at her I just believe that there for the Grace of God go I albeit not in that fashion per se. I look at her and hear God weeping. She is quite clearly looking for something from all the wrong sources and all the wrong places and not hearing the Voice of the One who wants to heal her soul

Good Morning from Okieland! I am finally awake and raring to go, one step at a time.

JIB, you know I agree with you and he is a work in progress. Reading your account of teaching him really started my day off with a very good impression. I loved it and thanks for sharing with all of us.

Now for Dibdabdeb's request on caching. I have only done this in Google search so I don't know if it will be the same for Internet Explorer (the big Blue e).

In the search box of Google, I entered the following: I Blogger "Name of person you are searching for" and then hit enter. The search results will come up and it will list any thing it has found. Look at the end of each result until you find something with Joel C. Rosenberg Blog in the address. Here I will show you: I entered I Blogger "Grumpy" Joel C. Now on that first item, see this line joelrosenberg.blogspot.com/2007/04/la-times-dobson-radical-islam-and-2008.html - 89k - CACHED - Similar pages - I HAVE PUT CACHED IN UPPER CASE FOR YOUR TO SEE EASIER. On the page it isn't in caps. Just click on the Cached and it will take you to the page. Scroll down and Grumpy's remark has his name hilighted so you will be able to see it easier.

If you just click on the top part of the link, you won't get to see the comments. Only by clicking on the Cached portion. So, lets see how easy it is to do it and then we will find your name on there too, for Donna.

Anyway, the comments on the day the blog was taken down is not available in this manner. I wonder what else can be done in this manner? Mr. Hyde do you have any ideas of tantalizing mischief that can be wrought with this?

By the way, that first find is very interesting and Grumpy hadn't been on board very long, or at least he hadn't let his presence be known much before. That time frame was about the time that Forgiven Daughter's best friend, Lisa was getting ready to go home to her heavenly Father and hearts were needing strength to carry on.

There is a beautiful history for Joel's Blog and someway I would like to be able to express how very much all of the communion has meant to most of us.

Thanks again Mr. Hyde!

Shalom

I tried following the instructions you gave us, WJM, but for some reason it didn't work for me.

I am not the most computer literate person in the world, although I have successfully burned a CD and a DVD (which holds a lot more info) in the last 24 hrs.

I don't feel I am the best person to explain how to do this, at least not yet! There are probably a lot easier ways to do it than I did!

My kids and husband all have IPODs for music. I may just get one myself for these podcasts.

We used to have a radio station around here that had non stop BIble teaching that I loved and listened to for years.

Now they mostly have music, which is fine, but I need and love good sound BIble teaching.

Anyway, a lot of these teachers online seem to have their own way of downloading. I think MP3's are the same thing as podcasts?

Jack Kelly has free mp3's available, although I haven't tried downloading anything from that yet.

Jimmy DeYoungs site suggests I Tunes, and in the podcast part of his site if you click subscribe it downloads the I Tunes software.

Then I downloaded a bunch of his teachings then thru I Tunes, then in file made a playlist then burned them.

It seemed fairly simple to do, but I still feel like I have no idea of what I am doing.

I gotta go for now just wanted to say a quick hello :)

Debbie(and anyone else whose interested),

Try this to find entries in Joel's blog:

Enter the following into the Google search box (go to Google.com home page), replacing "blogger name" with whomever you are looking for.

site:joelrosenberg.blogspot.com I Blogger "blogger name" Joel C Rosenberg Blog

You instantly seem to get the cached pages - I got 26 pages for my blog name. I suggest you then save each page to your hard drive in html format (menu commands: File - Save, then enter the title of the blog page as the page file name - or at least the date, so you can easily read them or print them out later).

Alesia,
Thank you for the warm welcome, and also thanks to you, Judy and Debbie for the Happy Birthday wishes :) (along with Jib, and Wilma!) And yeah, I'm old :) 61 years old, EEK!

Jib,
Yes, I'm agreeing, in prayer with you, for your son.
And you can also claim Joshua 24: 5b, too. "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." I heard my grandparents and Mother claim that all of my younger life, and to my knowledge, everyone was saved before they went home to be with the Lord. The promises of God work, when you work them :) Amen?

Thank you Mr. Hyde for making your space available for everyone, too :)
And may God greatly bless the people that post on this Blog, along with God's richest blessings upon this blog, too! Amen.

And if I have caused any offense beforehand, I apologize. I may be getting old, and just plain cranky? LOL. I dunno, but I am sorry if I come across as overly 'blunt.' I'm a work still in progress! God ain't finished with me yet :)

Everyone, enjoy a wonderful weekend!

grumpy,

I spent hours last night trying to catch up on all the articles that people had posted links to over the last 3 or 4 days. I particularly liked the information you posted on 2012.

However, now you really have gone too far! Posting links to 8 videos that are each 1 hour long! I don't have that kind of time! :-)

All kidding aside, I think those videos look extremely interesting! I love reading all the material written by the authors you listed and I can't wait to watch those interviews. Where do you come up with all this good stuff?

I am just going to have to quit my job and go on welfare to read all the articles and watch all the videos that get posted on this site. :-)

I can't remember who originally brought up the topic of Nicolas Sarkozy possibly being the Antichrist on the last post, but that conversation was very interesting.

I had never looked at Sarkozy in that light before. I had never even heard of him until he became the President of France. However, right after he did, he really caught my attention with his total policy reversal from previous, very annoying French leaders like Chirac. When he said he wanted to crack down on Islamic rioters, and became more pro West, I had to do a double-take. I never considered him for the Antichrist, but I did think that him becoming the French President at this time would somehow factor into the end times events. He is certainly a good candidate for the Antichrist.

Isn't it funny how many possible candidates we have for the Antichrist? It looks like God is allowing this so that we can't pick out who the Antichrist is before we are gone. I guess I am just going to have to use the shotgun effect and warn my buddies who are going to be left behind of all the potential Antichrist's I see. :-)

So far, my front runner for Antichrist is Prince Hassan bin Al Talal, followed closely by Javier Solona and now Nicholas Sarkozy.

One important thing to note is the Bible never actually says that the Antichrist has to be Jewish (though many scholars think he will be). However, the Bible does indicate that the False Prophet will be Jewish (most Jews will probably think he is Elijah).

campsmore,

You are a link posting machine! :-)

gt,

Thanks for the link to the New Age stuff.

It's funny, but I share your feelings about Britney Spears. I see all the headlines and I think, "What an idiot!" She is setting such a horrible example for young people. However, I do feel really bad for her and I do feel a burden for her soul. Despite all the fame and fortune, she is probably one of the most miserably unhappy people on the planet. She does need a lot of prayer.

I forget who posted the redmoonrising.com URL, but I just finished reading the page.

Wow. That's pretty eye-opening stuff.

I haven't read anything on the site that gt posted. I need to pray about it before I delve into it. I think my grounding is solid enough that I don't feel the Spirit advising me not to read anything on it, but just reading the page linked, I know I need to pray.

What was interesting about the site I just read was that apparently even Satan and the demons are aware that believers will be raptured. Another thing struck me, though. Someone here, and I think it may be John, believes there will be more than one rapture, and it appears that the enemy believes so as well.

The last thing that struck me was the mixing of truth with lies. New agers not taken in the first round of the evacuation are instructed not to worry because that means they have a purpose in staying.

Angie said...

JIB,

At first your prayer request for Brittany Spears struck me as an odd one. But then I remembered that the Spirit has made odd requests of me in the past. Several years back, a man parked his vehicle on a train track intending to kill himself. At the last minute, he changed his mind, but there were people killed in the train that crashed into his vehicle. Many people were understandably angry at the man, but the Spirit asked me to pray for him. My guess is that Brittany Spears has no one close to her to pray for her. And you are quite correct that if not for grace, all of us might be driving ourselves into self-destruction searching for what only our Father can give us.

Dear Friends,

I've decided to post a short series called Postcards from God?? (some of this you may have seen before, but not recently)

Postcard #1 out of 4 :

November 11 2006
Dr. James Dobson & others call for Nat Repentance

I don't know if you heard James Dobson's call for national humility & repentance on his daily broadcast of 2 November. I heard a bit of it while driving and took the very unusual step (for me) of listening to the streaming audio of that talk located at http://listen.family.org/recentdaily under the heading America: A call to Humility (part 1 of 2) (Part 2 aired on 3 Nov, is mostly the personal testimonies of the participants) . I was particularly struck by Dr. Dobson's concern about our national need to humble ourselves or be humiliated (as a nation) and his concern about the possible soon loss of our national sovreignty!!! Dr. Ravi Zacharias and two other nationally known pastors whom I don't know joined Dr. Dobson on this broadcast.
Recently I have read two books which have made me concerned, independently of the above broadcast, that Iran may be planning a major attack on the US in an effort to have "a world without the US" (Pres. Ahmadinejad's phrase).

See : (1) "Countdown to Terror" by Congressman Curt Weldon (pub 2003)
(2) "Showdown with Nuclear Iran" by Michael D. Evans & Jerome Corsi (Nelson Current, Nashville TN, 2006)

And on a serious note!:

Addendum to Postcard #1 (sorry about the length - I tried to shorten!)

quotes from the article Dr. Dobson was speaking about:

We Have A Choice
Humility or Humiliation
by James Robison

The Great Shaking

""What I share next concerns believers in the New Testament church family and all whom God loves but have not yet received His abounding grace and abundant, eternal life. I believe the following things will occur before Christ returns and "the end of the world as we know it".

All that can shake will be shaken to the foundation. Those unfruitful things that do not pertain to true life will be revealed. The unshakable will remain, including the true and holy remnant. No one will be excluded from pain and suffering, apart from supernatural intervention.

God knows the hour. It cannot be determined by time or space, but we do know He will come for a people in love with Him and one another --living in fullness, free from fear, abiding in peace amid storms and turmoil, shining as unfading light in the darkest of hours. Their eye will be fixed on Jesus; their hearts will be focused on His kingdom purpose; and their hands will be doing His work as faithful servants.

PLEASE READ OR SHARE THE FOLLOWING IN TOTAL CONTEXT SO THAT THE INTENT AND CONCERN WILL NOT BE MISREPRESENTED.

For several years I have sensed in my spirit some awesome and alarming things when I meditate on the Scriptures and pray. I have waited a long time, but I believe the time has come for me to finally share these impressions.

I earnestly pray that the free world and especiallly America--my home and the land of the free, where many choose to live as slaves bound by appetites and actions, demanding their way rather than God's way,--may somehow be spared the horrendous results such decadent preactices have produced throughout history. I don't want us to get what we deserve. I cry out for mercy for me, my family members, friends and everyone-- even those who choose to be our enemies. I don't want any one to perish but to repent, just as the Bible expresses. This is the very desire of God's heart. Please join me in focused prayer.

I am convinced that brokenness will come to the church and to America. The choice is ours: humility or humiliation! Our population will cry out to God on our faces, desperate beyond comprehension, in unity of spirit and heart, longing for what really matters. The whole world will long for peace--not just national or world peace, but peace within. ...Brokenness will lead to true character, determination, self-sacrifice and a sincere desire to know and do what is right, regardless of the cost or sacrifice.

We must have God's power and protection in order to miss our enemies' plans for us. Without the divine miracle, umparalleled, indescribable devastation is coming to our shores--truly "the sum of all fears.

I'm not referring to the natural disasters we are already witnessing and the challenges that reveal our nation's soul and character. I'm talking about deliberate destruction directed by the deadly actions of evil men...""

Rumors of Impending Attack on US
From "Intercessors for America" -- "On Watch in Washington" 11 July 2007
HOMELAND SECURITY

CHERTOFF: THE NATION FACES A HEIGHTENED CHANCE OF AN ATTACK THIS SUMMER

Officials cite Al Qaeda's apparent interest in summer strikes, increased training along Afghan-Pakistani border

Fearing complacency among the American people over possible terror threats, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said in Chicago on Tuesday that the nation faces a heightened chance of an attack this summer. "I believe we are entering a period this summer of increased risk," Chertoff told the Chicago Tribune's editorial board in an unusually blunt and frank assessment of America's terror threat level.

"Summertime seems to be appealing to them," he said of al-Qaida. "We do worry that they are rebuilding their activities."

There have been reports already that suggest intelligence warnings at a similar level to the summer before Sept. 11, 2001 and that al- Qaida may be mobilizing. The dire warnings and Chertoff's comments come as the Bush administration faces political and business opposition over its immigration and border policies that have security implications. REPORT SAYS AL-QAEDA SEEKS TO ATTACK U.S.
New National Intelligence Estimate declassifies key findings

WASHINGTON (AP) - The terrorist network Al- Qaeda will likely leverage its contacts and capabilities in Iraq to mount an attack on U.S. soil, according to a new National Intelligence Estimate on threats to the American homeland.

The report lays out a range of dangers-from al-Qaida to Lebanese Hezbollah to non- Muslim radical groups-that pose a "persistent and evolving threat" to the country over the next three years. As expected, however, the findings focus most of their attention on the gravest terror problem: Osama bin Laden's al- Qaida network.

The report makes clear that al-Qaida in Iraq, which has not yet posed a direct threat to U.S. soil, could become a problem here.

FBI: IRAQIS BEING SMUGGLED ACROSS THE RIO GRANDE

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And from "Intercessors for America" "Friday Watch Fire/Israel/Middle East Alert" 3 August 2007
COUNTERTERRORISM EXPERT: ATTACK ON AMERICAN
CITIES LIKELY WITHIN 90 DAYS

Counterterrorism expert Juval Aviv believes that an Al Qaeda attack on several American cities is likely within the next ninety days. Aviv states, "I predict, based primarily on information that is floating in Europe and the Middle East, that an event is imminent and around the corner here in the United States.

It could happen as soon as tomorrow, or it could happen in the next few months. Ninety days at the most." Aviv's warning should not go unnoticed. He has a respectable background that includes service as an Israeli Counterterrorism Intelligence Officer and as a special consultant to the United States Congress on terrorism and security.

Another indication that an attack on the United States may be in the works is the release of a new Al-Qaeda video titled, "Wait for the Big Surprise." The video shows a digitally altered image of President Bush and Pakistani President Musharraf engulfed by flames with the White House burning in the background.

This Al-Qaeda video was followed by one requesting Americans convert to Islam (this request required by the Quran before a Jihad to kill defenders and force survivors to convert).-Bobby

Now obviously the 90 days has expired and the attack(s) did not happen. But that does not mean we can relax forever.-Bobby (5 Jan 08)
I added the following comment to the above news in August 2007
Al-Qaida did cancel its nerve gas attack on the NY subway in 2003 because they had a better plan for a more devastating attack in the works. (Translates to God protected us in 2003, and is obviously continuing to do so as of now.) I understand Al-Qaida would like to unleash an attack in several of our cities simultaneously and kill 4 million or so (plus instantly destroying the dollar). I have read that the FBI director sometimes cannot sleep over worry about suitcase nukes being suddenly detonated in US cities. (The Russians have stated years ago they are missing 300 of these!) I had assumed that if Al-Qaida had obtained any of these we would know by now, but I now read they have been making a more concerted attempt recently to pay former Russian nuclear workers to help them. So is a nuclear attack on Washington/several US cities imminent?? Is the rapture before or after ??? Jesus is in charge and I don't know all the answers."--Bobby

Addendum (5 Jan 08) - This summer the US attempted to capture the Al-Qaeda official in charge of their nuclear program but failed to do so.
The nationwide telephone prayer meeting of Intercessors for America/Men for Nations this AM (5 Jan 08) recommended reviewing Pastor Robison's web site, which can be located by googling "we have a choice'.

Disclaimer - I do not necessarily believe in the necessity of cleansing of the Church before the Rapture-Bobby

Bobby Pearson,

Re your comment on the cleansing of the church (and you not necessarily believing in this - correctly in my view)...

Just consider what the instructions are to the 7 Churches in the first few chapters of Revelation.

Each one provides a diagnosis of the sickness (=sin) afflicting them (except for the Philadelphian church), and then puts the onus on the believers to fix the problem(s) themselves, by repentant actions. Notice that God does not say He will fix the problems, rather He spells out the consequences of US not doing so - which ultimately leads to judgment - and from the context, at that point it's too late!

Remember, Jesus says that we are ALREADY overcomers, we just need to walk in that knowledge. As John says:

1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him.

2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments.

3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.

4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.

5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
[1 John 5:1-5, NKJV]

If you consider these 7 Churches to be symbolic of all the various types of Churches we have today (the list covers just about all denominations including the RCs), you can see that God expects US to do whatever is necessary to get into a place where we truly become "the overcomers" - i.e. we overcome the world (the effects, desires, way of thinking of the world system on our walk with God), the devil - by recognizing that he has ALREADY been defeated, and is under our feet, and that through Jesus' sacrifice we can overcome sin, because the "Greater One" lives INSIDE of us.

We do not need to go around like Martin Luther initially did, beating ourselves up (both literally and figuratively), just put 1 John 1:9 into action in our lives - which takes literally seconds, and learn to "walk in the Spirit" - in the power (gr dunamis => dynamite) of Holy Spirit, and exercising the "mind of Christ" in our daily lives (which we do as we renew our minds by and through hearing the "rhema" Word of God [Romans 12:1-2]).

It also helps to "confess" or pray out aloud every day the promises of God for ourselves, such as:

In the Name of Jesus Christ, I pray that the God of my Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to me the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of my understanding being enlightened, that I may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward me who believes.

I pray that He would grant me, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in my inner man [spirit], that Christ may be dwell in my heart through faith, that I, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height - to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge, that I may be filled with all the fullness of God.

I ask that I might be filled with the knowledge of His Will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that I may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God, strengthened with all might according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy.

I am the body of Christ.
I am redeemed from the curse of the Law.
Jesus bore every sickness, disease, pain, infirmity and malfunction in His own Body for ME, and what Jesus bore already I will not bear again (Is 53, 1 Peter 2:24)
I forbid any sickness, disease, pain, infirmity or malfunction to operate in my body.
Any disease, germ or virus that touches my body dies instantly [c.f John G. Lake] upon contact.
Every system organ, muscle, tendon, ligament, fire, tissue, bone and nerve of my body functions in the perfection in which God created it to function.
By Jesus' stripes I WAS healed (1 Peter 2:24). Therefore, I am healed and I walk in divine health. The Greater One lives in me and is quickening my mortal body.
My youth is renewed daily like the eagle's.
I honor God and bring glory to Him in my body. which I present daily as a living sacrifice, which is my reasonable service (Romans 12:1-2).

But I am curious. I had studied the Egyptians & the Mayans, years ago (NOT from a religious standpoint) I just think both of their cultures are bizarre, how were their civilizations so advanced for their time?. I'm hoping the 2 books you recommended will shed some light.
Is there any particular order I should read those 4 books? Will it make a difference in understanding?
Thanks,

Angie, Shalom!

I'm sorry it took me so long to respond to you about the caucus -- I'm still working on my daughter's PC that I'm building her for Christmas.

The caucus was actually more fun than I thought it would be. My caucus was held in a gym in the community center. The place was packed. There were lots more people there than the organizers had planned for. Around the outside wall, supporters of the different candidates had set up signs and were passing out literature. I found a small sign saying, "Uncommitted" and I parked my rear end there.

The first thing they did was total up all the registrations (where you signed in and showed proof of residence) so they'd know how many people there were. This is because in order to be viable, a candidate had to have at least 15% of the people there. This turned out to be 49. They then had everyone move to the spot marked out for their candidate, and then an official would count the number of supporters. All the while, people were coming over to me asking me to commit to their candidate, but I said no, I was remaining uncommitted. There was one other guy with me in the uncommitted section, but here was basically there because this girl he was interested in was at the caucus.

In the end, Joe Biden, Chris Dodd, Bill Richardson, and Kusinich (sp?) didn't pass the muster -- Biden had only 35, while Kusinich only had two. At that point, I got into the spirit of things: we were given 20 minutes or so before the final count, so I went over to the Biden people and tried to convince them to be Uncommitted. As I told them, "Be a true Democrat! Swim against the stream! Don't join with the crowd just because it's the crowd! Hold your head up and say proudly, I am not a member of any organized party, I am a Democrat!" Most people laughed, but some looked thoughtful.

In the end, most of the other people went to Obama, my uncommitted companion decided to joining Hillary (where his girlfriend was), while there were five of the Biden people who joined me in Uncommitted. (If we had gotten another 45 people in Uncommitted, we could have elected a delegate to the convention.) The other Biden people joined Obama, one of the reasons Obama did so well. Only one or two of the candidate supporters with less than 15% went to Hillary. Of those remaining, about one-third went to Edwards and the rest went to Obama. (In other words, only Hillary supporters continued to support her. Everyone who HAD to choose someone else chose anyone but Hillary -- one reason she didn't do too well here.)

In the end, yes, it was a lot more fun than doing an election, like New Hampshire with their primaries. I got a chance to talk to a lot of people. Most of them were horrified when I told them I was in favor of the war in Iraq, but when I told them how my ex-wife grew up in the Soviet Union, how she had been taken in for questioning by the KGB once and how her uncle did five years in the gulags (because he told the local Party official he was wrong about the correct date to plant the corn), no one could argue when I said I was in favor of any action that took out a psychopath like Saddam. Next time (four years down the road), I'll be better organized to get more uncommitted voters, and maybe we'll get a delegate sent to the convention!

There's more about the Rapture Ready site that I don't like than I do like, but I came across an EXCELLENT and very interesting article there written by Patrick Heron that's here . I think you'll enjoy it.

Patrick Heron is the guy I posted links about earlier on this page regarding his audio interviews.

Harold, I finally listened to the Peter Goodgame interview I posted above and Wow. I previously knew Goodgame thought that Nimrod would be resurrected as the AC, but what Goodgame mentioned in the last half of his part 2 interview was very fascinating.

Very interesting, because some political analysts were predicting this. They said Hillary's support was only from a hardcore group and that because her negatives outweighed her positives in the minds of many Democrats, that she would be very unlikely to be anyone's second choice. Interesting how well those analysts called this.

alesia,

I guess when you place a order, you make it worth while! I am the same way. I must have purchased at least 8 books in the last order I placed with amazon.

You didn't purchase "The Silence is Broken: God Hooks Ezekiel's Gog and Magog" as well? :-) Just kidding.

You want to know what order to read them in. Hmmmm. That is a tough one. How about Red Moon Rising, Nephilim Stargates, ER and then The Nephilim and the Pyramid of the Apocalypse?

I found the two Nephilim books to be quicker reads than the others, especially ER.

Enjoy,
Harold

Thank you for taking the time to respond. It sounds like a quite fascinating experience. I'm a Republican in the Los Angeles Area and don't know any other Republicans except my parents and my aunt and uncle! It would be interesting to be able to speak with other conservatives at a caucus.

Like Grumpy, I found your comment about Hillary interesting. I've heard that she has a very high negative rating. She seems to be one of those people you either love or you hate.

glad I'm not the only one who feels a burden for Britney. Not sure why either as I said. I am reminded of one of our former bloggers (from before most of you all started with a few exceptions) AR. She told us she was a Christian but had fallen away and was liven life in the fast lane. She remembers dragging herself to church one time and sitting in the back. She said she heard a male voice speaking very softly and quietly in her mind that if she didn't give up her current lifestyle and comeback to God that He was going to bring her home much earlier than He had planned.
I remember being in absolute awe when I heard her story.

grumpy,

Peter Goodgame's thoughts on Nimrod remind me a lot of what Thomas Horn says in "Nephilim Stargates". If memory serves me correctly, Thomas speculated if archaeologists were to discover the mummified body of Nimrod (who many scholars think was the first person ever mummified in Egypt) maybe they could find enough DNA to clone him. It sounds like a pretty wild idea on the surface, but the more I read about this stuff, the more I think it is possible.

Peter Goodgame thinks that archaeologists are currently digging for Nimrod (also known as Osiris) body in Giza right now. Thomas Horn thinks that Nimrod might have been a Nephilim, which would me he is not totally human.

The Antichrist is supposed to be killed and resurrected. Does he actually have to be killed during the Tribulation period or can he have be killed thousands of years before hand and then resurrected during or just before the tribulation period?

The following passage in Revelation has always bothered me:

Revelation 17:9-11

9 This calls for a mind with wisdom: the seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman is seated; 10 they are also seven kings, five of whom have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come, and when he does come he must remain only a little while. 11 As for the beast that was and is not, it is an eighth but it belongs to the seven, and it goes to destruction.

To Peter Goodgame, this passage implies that the Antichrist must be one of the original 7 kings who is resurrected "As for the beast that was and is not, it is an eighth but it belongs to the seven, and it goes to destruction."

Peter thinks Nimrod was the first of these kings and the one who was responsible for building the tower of Babel in Babylon. Revelation talks a lot about Babylon becoming a great nation again. It makes sense to me that the first of the 7 would also be the last king, the Antichrist.

I was reading an article a few days ago on the CNN website about the work forensic DNA work that scientists are currently doing to try to identify some of the mummies they have unearthed over the years in Egypt. They showed a picture of one of the mummies they are currently working to identify that is 3500 or more years old. I couldn't believe how well preserved it was! There was still plenty of flesh on it. I don't think it is that far fetched that some of the DNA of one of these mummies could be used for cloning something.

Could this king that once was and will be again be Apollyon the fallen angel that God has imprisoned in the Abyss, but is going to be released during the Tribulation period as discussed in Revelation 9? Is this Apollyon going to take over the resurrected body of Nimrod or someone else to become the Antichrist?

God Bless,
Harold

I don't recall who said something about no scripture saying that Antichrist had to be Jewish and likely that is correct. However, the reason that a lot of people are expecting someone Jewish is that the Jews are still looking for Messiah who HAS to be Jewish according to scripture. I have always had the impression from scripture and otherwise that initially the Jews will think Antichrist is Messiah and therefore in order for them to accept anyone as Messiah that person would by default have to be Jewish.

That's one thing I like about the caucus -- it's the opportunity to do some personal politikin' with your neighbors. These are only the persons who live in your precinct, so they really are your neighbors. It used to be in some smaller towns, the caucuses were held in person's houses; now I believe the rules require they be held in some public place. I liked the opportunity to exchange views with different people. One person asked me why I was Uncommitted, and I told her that they ALL lost my support with MoveOn.org's "General Betray-Us" ad. Not for the ad itself, but the fact that the Democrats had to consult their focus groups and take a poll before most of them came out saying, "Well, we don't think this is right." If it was wrong, why do you need a focus group to give you permission to say that it's wrong? I also told people that if Hillary was the candidate I'd be voting Republican; and that if John McCain were the Republican candidate then I'd be voting for him. Not because I agree with his all of his policies, but because you'd always know where you stand with him. McCain will never give you that "I was against it before I was for it" type of stuff.

I think the reason for Hillary's high negative rating is that people sense she's not good people. Like the conductor on the train said, "You can always tell a gentleman from someone with money." The Clintons are very effective politicians. When Bill was president, he got a lot of things done, mostly because he'd go back on what he promised some people and change his stance in order to get what he wanted. That doesn't make you not good people, that just makes you very effective politicians. If you're good people, you can get away with that a lot more and a lot easier than you can if you're just people with money. The Clintons are just people with money. If you're used to treating people like servants, that's going to come through no matter how much you laugh and smile and act nice.

Alesia, My kids and hubby think I read "freakishly" fast too. I normally read about 25 or more books a year. This past 10 mos. have been different though. I've only read about 10 books plus a gazillion websites dedicated to endtimes.

I recently went through my books and cleaned up. I gave books I won't read again away. The best I kept, but put in the attic for the holidays. My holiday decor is still up and I need to put it away just so I can get my boxes of books back...I'm going thru withdrawl.

The word of God is powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword. I'm so grateful for those teachers who instruct us how to use the sword.

Some of the books mentioned here and on JOel's site, I've tried reading. I'm pretty simpled-minded, I think I would enjoy eschatsological teaching in Dr. Suess format. I would probably remember it more.

On another note, (POLITICS) Let me throw out a question to the masses....

Is is possible that a man of God can make up for his lack of foreign policy, by seeking God's direction?

Jim,

Interesting about Hillary not being perceived as "good people" and the Clinton's treating people as servants.

In the last week or so, I'm beginning to see Hillary as someone to be pitied. She seems to have a history of making up things in order to make herself likeable or in attempt to seem more human and seem like she's just like other people. I'm not sure whether she's trying to relate to other people or trying to get people to relate to her. And she's said some appalingly ignorant things recently. She strikes me as someone who is desperately trying to be relevant. Maybe that's because she realizes deep down that she would not be where she is now if not for Bill.

Enough amateur psychiatrist!

I have to admit that I'm very concerned about who both parties will nominate. I'm not too happy with the field in either party. I know the US is going to get knocked off center stage, but seeing it happen is sad. I just keep reminding myself that God is in control.

Donna,
There has been much debate about who the actual 'sons of God" were. And as Mac pointed out, there really are a lot of agruments for/against each side. But, I agree with you. After looking into the matter, hearing various Bible Teachers, and such, it's become a matter of what theory you choose to believe. Although, Perry Stone believes the sons of God were fallen angels. He gave a point that I believe is pretty interesting, in that the sons of God prodcued Gaints. And we know that David killed the last of the Giants. And that was another one of the reasons, according to Perry Stone's teaching, that God revered David.
But, Bill Cloud, (associated with Perry Stone's ministry) believes that the sons of God were the sons of Seth.
Anyhow, this doesn't come close to answering your question, LOL. But all I can say, is that this discussion seems to go in cycles.

Eveyone,
Have a most blessed Sunday!

Hello All,

This week's promise:
God will fight for you
Are you in need of renewal?

For the Lord has driven out great and powerful nations for you, and no one has yet been able to defeat him. Each one of you will put to flight a thousand of the enemy, for the Lord your God fights for you, just as he promised. So be careful to love the Lord your God.
Joshua 23:9-11 NLT

About this week's promise

When strength fails and we grow weary, we need someone to come alongside us, show understanding, cheer us up, and inspire us to have the strength and commitment to move on. When bills pile up and money runs short, we need an encourager. When we become single parents and the world seems against us, we need an encourager. When friends and family turn against us, we need an encourager. Our strength and resolve weaken. Oh, for someone to come beside us and lift us up and comfort us. Encouragers help us stir renewed commitment, renewed resolve. They inspire us with courage and hope. Encouragers bring a beautiful gift, often a spiritual gift, when they bring renewal through encouragement.

Did anyone sign-up for the email to these that I linked on the last post?

RE: Angie's wayward fish: I think the direction of her fish is VERY apt. We as Christians are called to "swim upstream", away from the crowd, being "in the world but not of it." Go, Fish!

I don't think it's "Obama sounding like a Jesse Jackson wanna be", I think it's Jesse Jackson sounding like a Martin Luther King, Jr. wanna be. I hear Obama's style of speech as a cross between a professional lawyer arguing a case before the Supreme Court, and an African-American preacher issuing a "Come to Jesus" call. When he's arguing facts he's the lawyer; when he's arguing passion he's the preacher.

BTW, has anyone seen "The Great Debaters"?

jim.carroll said...

Alesia; Shalom!

I don't think Obama is necessarily so bad. NONE of the candidates are "perfect"; all require some compromise or another, and one thing that attracts me to Obama is that he strikes me as having a passion for people rather than a passion for power (aka Hillary). My biggest complaint/concern re: Obama is that I think he needs to be "baked" a little longer. Unlike my steaks, I prefer my politicians to be well-done. (As far as my steaks go, so long as it doesn't moo when I stick the fork in it, I'm good.) Lincoln was able to run for president after only one term in congress because when he left congress, he went on to be the nation's premier high-tech lawyer, and was able to develop national recognition that way.

(High-tech in the 1850's, BTW, meant railroads. Lincoln argued cases that set precedents that are still cited today. For example: it used to be illegal for railroads to have bridges across rivers, since that would be an impediment to river navigation. Can you imagine how this country would look if the only way to cross the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers was through ferry traffic? Lincoln used his experience working on the riverboats and his knowledge of railroad technology to argue that it was up to the boat captains to avoid hazards, thus paving the way to building bridges across American rivers.)

So, I'd like to see what Obama looks like after he's been baked for another four or eight years. If we MUST have a Democratic administration, I'd like to see him as Vice-President. It's the VP who usually goes to the foreign funerals, weddings, etc. as the US representative. This would give Obama the chance to meet with his counterparts overseas without the news cameras looking over his shoulder. We may see a change in his positions after he's had to actually work with some of those people overseas. Sort of like, letting Obama walk a mile in someone else's shoes. Of course, as a politician, after he's had your shoes for a mile, then we'd have to get him to give them back, but that's another issue.

Alesia,

I'm quite perplexed about the whole "inevitibility" issue of Hillary Clinton. It seems as if for months the media has been leading us to believe that she was a shoo-in for the nomination. But maybe that was actually coming from the Clintons and certain people in the media went along with it.

People are so fickle that it's hard to believe the Clintons or the media thought that the momentum and publicity for Hillary would go on for long enough to carry her to the nomination. Let's face it, once the positive emotions and what I call the "Whee" factor of anything wear off, we humans are ready to move on to the next thing that can give us excitement.

In fact, that's part of the terrible emotional treadmill people are on who live in the darkness. Nothing in this world can satisfy for an eternity the way God can. And we humans are so terribly vulnerable to manipulation when it comes to our emotions. The more inward focused we are, the less we are going to be effective for God. Only God can satisfy our deepest needs so that we're able to take our focus off ourselves enough for his light to shine through the cracks of our lives.

I don't by any means think that Hillary is out of the picture. Iowa was only one state (no offense to people who live there), so her third place showing isn't necessarily a predictor of the future. Lacking a crystal ball, though, it's possible I'm wrong, but I certainly don't think she has no hope.

Donna, I understand your gut feelings about the Nephillim issue. That's how I felt about it two years ago when I had my epiphany about the bible. In fact, I had found the redmoonrising.com site on my own before I'd heard anyone speak of it and immediately dismissed it based on the site's references to cults and the dark imagery of the site. It wasn't till much later that I started seeing references to the site and Peter Goodgame on other sites that made me go back. When I took the time to read what was there, I realized that Mr. Goodgame is a solid Christian who has focused much of his research on areas that mainstream pastors or Christian leaders would never touch upon. I don't think it's necessary at all to believe what these authors are saying, but I do think it's very important to read and study what they are saying because oftentimes they will comment on something that sheds enormous light on a subject that has been entirely overlooked, or they will shed light on entirely different subject we have questions about.

I highly recommend listening to the audio files I posted. Sometimes the first hour is just the basics, but it helps to listen to it as well, when you get to the 2nd hour, which is usually very good : )

Grumpy said...

To those for whom this topic is of interest, when you get a chance, read the article I posted from Patrick Heron and then listen to his audio interview. He has a totally different take of why the Jews are told to flee "to the mountains" after the AOD. It has to do with higher ground under circumstances I had never thought of. I always wondered, why "to the mountains"? Why not to the desert, other countries, etc. His theory is consistent with those "water breaking" metaphors that follow the increase in birthing pangs. You've got to read and listen to what he's saying about the fallen angels. He's saying they are kicked out of heaven when the Church is taken up and that's why there is the reference in Rev. (after the rapture occurs) to a third of the stars falling from heaven to earth. Those stars are symbolic of fallen angels. I know David Lowe described the stars falling to earth as a perception on the horizon of what they would appear to be doing when the earth is knocked off its axis during the massive earthquake in Rev., but Heron's analysis makes more sence.

It's not entirely ironic that I (and possibly others) will find ourselves piecing together our scenario of the end times based on scripture here and there in the bible because that's exactly what the bible says here.

Postcard #2 December 2006

The Litvenenko Affair

You may remember that Mr. Litvenenko, a citizen of the UK (who used to work for the FSB [which used to be called the KGB] - the state security apparatus for Russia) was murdered in the UK in 2006. Mr. Litvenenko had been very critical of Pres. Putin. The murder was accomplished by the use of radioactive polonium, but the murderer used about 10 times too much, enabling British authorities to discover the means of the poisoning and to track trace amounts of polonium throughout London and onto British Airways aircraft. Eventually they discovered Mr. Litvenenko injested the polonium in a cup of tea given him by Mr. Luguvoi who is currently an active agent of the FSB. Unfortunately, Mr. Luguvoi had returned to Moscow shortly after the poisoning. It is a matter of record that the amount of polonium used would have been obtained from a reactor only at the approval of the government of a nuclear power. The UK government indicted Mr. Luguvoi and repeatedly asked for his extradition to England. The answer they received was angry newspaper headlines in Russia and the flyby of 8 nuclear capable Bear bombers past Scotland and then back again to Russia, which required scrambling RAF interceptors twice, once as the bombers headed west, and again as they came back east. This was a common event during the cold war but had not happened since about 1989. The following day, the Kremlin announced that the routine cold war bomber patrols would be resumed immediately. See Joel's article "Is Putin Gog?" of Nov or Dec 2006. Joel concludes that Putin may or may not be Gog, but is certainly acting as we would expect Gog to act (and is continuing to do so!). I think God is trying to tell us to pay attention to Russia.

While I hate to sound the one note issue of abortion Obama is the only candidate in the current field of nominees who has consistently voted against the partial birth abortion ban, a procedure which is never ever ever medically needed under ANY circumstances! I agree about Obama. I would rather have a clear picture of who the candidate is and then vote according to the truth than to cover it up under Charisma and bolderdash (there is another word but not here)and then to find out what a person really is. JFK is a good example. Bill Clinton is another one and I mean sleeze bag from the very get go. Way before he ran for any office in the state of Arkansas or even before he graduated from the University of Arkansas.

I am listening to the Forum now on Fox and also recording it so I can listen tomorrow also.

Anyway, just my two cents worth!

Don't worry, I'm not planning on voting for Obama any time soon. My fawtha grew up in Bawston, and so no matter how Republican my politics may be, I have a genetic predisposition to consider the Democrats. It helps keep the ghosts of my anscestors at bay.

Besides, as far as the abortion issue is concerned, I'm more concerned with a legislator's record rather than the President's. I'm still trying to decide if it's better to have a national pro-life policy or to do things state by state. My biggest concern about a national pro-life policy is that it could be overturned for the entire country as easily as it could be enacted. I'm worried about the relationship between pro-life policies and prohibition. Prohibition was enacted as a way to control violence against women and against children. It was demon rum that caused men to come home from the bars and beat their wives. If you prohibit production and consumption of alcohol, you can eliminate violence against women.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the case, and it resulted in the end of prohibition. If we enact pro-life legislation because we are truly concerned with life, then that is good. If we do it for any other reason, then that will be bad, and the pro-life movement will fail, possibly for the rest of the life of the Republic.

here's a couple of good stories featuring my son, church and children's sermons.

Kids and microphones in church do NOT mix at least not when the kid is mine. Dec 30th. The kids were to bring a gift they had received for Christmas to church and the pastor was going to talk to them about their gifts. Our son insisted on taking a little stuffed dog (not given for Christmas by the way but a Christmas dog as it had on a red had and scarf). When his turn came he stood in front of the pastor and told him that no he hadn't gotten the dog for Christmas we bought it from Walmart (much laughter) and proceeded to list all the parts of the dog. He broke the pastor up laughing when our son got to the hind end and said "and this is his butt" (really funny given what I do and thankfully not heard by the entire church only the pastor, his wife and maybe the front row). The pastor decided our son ought to go into the ministry because he had a gift of saying a lot about nothing or words to that effect. Fast forward to jan 6th. I was in working and hubby took our son to church. They got there late and had to sit up front. When the children's sermon came around the topic was the new year and why do we celebrate it. silence. Our son pipes up and says "God". When asked," what about God" he thought for a minute and said "I have no idea". The adult then went on to talk about how the new year was for starting over, how God gives second chances etc and then asked the kids if any of them had ever done something wrong and wished they could do it over and have a second chance. He raises his hand and she called on him. He walked over, took the mike out of her hand, proceeded to walk back and sit back in his spot. He calmly told the entire church "That his mommy and daddy never give him very much chances" I understand from hubby that the church erupted with laughter and she took the mike back saying I'm sure your mommy and daddy are quite thrilled with you or something like that. She apparently was laughing so hard she could barely finish. I think we'll have to be late enough to miss the children's sermon from now on.

I grew up in southern Maine so I know what you mean about Democrats and Bawhston. I seem to recall that Obama voted against a ban both on a state and local level. You are correct there are pros and cons to a national ban vs something on the state level

I must say I am becoming more and more partial to Ron Paul given his most recent stance on no more anchor babies.

JIB I just read that Fox did not invite Ron Paul to the Forum tonight with all of the other Republicans and according to Newsmax the network is really getting some negative reaction from the voters. They are being accused of ignoring him because he is taking a stand against the war in Iraq.

Be interesting to watch the whole thing tomorrow.

Loved your son's stories. Now what ya gonna do Mom? Sounds like a very intelligent little fellow to me.

That reminds me of what happened at my church on Father's Day. Once a month or so, the children gather at the front of the church for a short lesson in front of the congragation. Minerva, the woman leading the lesson, talked about us having two fathers, our Heavenly Father and our earthly father. She talked about the kinds of gifts each of our fathers would like. When she talked about gifts our earthly fathers would like, one little boy caused everyone to laugh and applaud when he shouted out, "A Harley!"

Hi everyone,
I'm writing with 2 prayer requests...
One is for one of the pastors at our church and his young daughter. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor recently and is having surgery on Tues AM. Any prayers for her (Kendra) and the family would be much appreciated.
On a less critical note, prayers for our household and a speedy recovery from the various viruses which have been plaguing us for the last 3 weeks would also be appreciated. I've been up all night with my middle guy who seems to have a second round of ear infection and since all my 'helpers' are also sick (or I don't want them exposed to the germs), I'll have to find a way to drag all 3 kids to the dr. tomorrow so I can get Josh's ear checked out. The other 2 seem to be over the worst of it, so I hate to take them into another germy situation. I'm the only one not sick right now...I'm feeling the pressure to stay healthy!
John, I've been praying this up but the attacks keep coming! What am I missing? Help!

Hope everyone stays blessed & germ-free!

I would try to keep your family away from others as much as possible. There are some really nasty bugs going around. I'll pray for you family's speedy recovery as well.

D keeps asking V to take her for the abortion. V is pro-life and won't. D found a clinic in Jacksonville willing to do the abortion, and has an appointment in a few weeks, the baby will be 5 mos.

V says the roommate doesn't care about the baby and is hardhearted. Apparently, D says she'll lose her army scholarship if they find out she's pregnant.

don't know if Bobby will give advice or not but if he chooses not to please don't be offended. Unfortunately in our current legal climate any advice given over the internet or even in passing at church etc can be legally construed as the establishment of a doctor patient relationship and therefore any doctor who gives advice on the internet or other venues can be held legally liable for said advice. Doctors have successfully been sued by patient's for advice they gave another doctor about the patient's condition without formally seeing the patient in consultation (it's called a curbside consult, more like picking the other docs brain about the problem to see what one might have missed about the situation).

Good morning everyone,

I've given up trying to get caught up and am starting fresh this morning!

Jen,

Adding my prayer--you might want to check out the link on my blog to the "Truth" blog (right hand side under favorite blogs). Scroll down and there is a series of teachings on healing that may help!

Lori,

You're doing a great job. If Nate makes his way back you two should tag-team! Then we'd REALLY have a lot of news to check out! I've also added your prayer request, but following is Jack Kinsella's Omega Letter for today that, if you can send it to your frined's daughter, she may be able to share it with "D" and MAYBE it will open her eyes!:

The Third Deadly Sin

"And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to inquire of the LORD. And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger." (Genesis 25:21-22)

This story is, of course, the story of Jacob and Esau, the twin sons of Isaac, the younger son of Abraham. Let's examine a few more of the details of their birth before moving on.

"And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb. And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau."

"And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them." (Genesis 25:26)

Note three things right away. In the first, the Scripture calls them children rather than "masses of unfeeling protoplasm."

The Lord Himself told Rebekah that in her womb were two people -- not incipient people, or potential people, but were already people with a Divinely predetermined destiny.

Third, the two sons of Isaac were already locked in combat while still in the womb.

Then there is the testimony of Job to consider:

"After this opened Job his mouth and cursed his day. . . . Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived." (Job 3:1,3)

So, when does a fetus become a person? Job, according to Scripture, was a 'man-child' at conception.

Later in the same verse, Job laments that he had not been still-born, saying: "Or as an hidden untimely birth I had not been; as infants which never saw light." (Job 3:16)

Note here that the Scriptures refer to what is currently classified as non-life as an 'infant'. (An 'infant' what? Aardvaark? Puppy? Tree toad? Is this hard?)

In regard to the first human beings, Genesis tells us that "Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living." (Genesis 3:20)

This leaves little room for any interpretation that suggests that an in-vitro baby is somehow not separate and distinct from the mother's body.

Or that there is a point it a baby's existence when it is not 'living'.

So the claim that "a woman's right to do what she pleases with her own body" is exposed as a lie.

Instead, what it really espouses is a woman's right to do what she pleases with another person's body, up to the moment that other person can draw his or her first unassisted breath.

"I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly." (Pslams 22:10)

"Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, and He that formed thee from the womb. . ."

Finally, the most undeniable example of the personhood of the unborn: "For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy." (Luke 1:44)

This passage notes the pre-birth meeting of John the Baptist and Jesus Christ whilst both were still allegedly 'unfeeling masses of protoplasm.'

Throughout the Scriptures, that which has been conceived and lives in the mother's womb from conception on is referred to by God as a "child," a "son," an "infant," a "baby," a "man-child," etc. The woman in whose womb it lives is a "mother."

No human being anywhere in the Bible is identified by terms that are more distinctly human than these terms. God makes no distinction between born and unborn life. The Lord uses exactly the same terms for both.

Let's take a brief look at the main reasons given for having abortions and see how they fare under the clear light of day.

1) Babies conceived out of wedlock

2) Parents incapable of caring for the baby.

3) Baby will have an inferior quality of life

4) The child is a product of rape.

Logically, if any of those reasons are valid reasons for abortion before birth, why are they not equally valid after birth?

And if they are not valid after birth, then logic dictates they are equally invalid reasons beforehand.

Assessment:

Allow yourself to be astonished with me. I read on Sunday of a campaign mailer going out on behalf of the Clinton campaign criticizing Barak Obama's record on abortion.

First, some background, so I am not misunderstood here. During his legislative career, Barak Obama has received a 100% rating from the Illinois Planned Parenthood Council for his support of abortion 'rights' issues.

So Obama is not some closet 'right-to-lifer' -- which is the impression the mailing is designed to create. Indeed, Obama voted against a measure that would require medical care for babies who survive an abortion attempt.

Think about that for a second, (if you can do so without bursting into tears.) Obama is as much a supporter of in-vitro murder as Hillary or any of her political challengers are, but Hillary doesn't think so.

"A woman's right to choose," the mailing says on the front, then flips to the back, "demands a leader who will stand up and protect it."

The mailing boasts that Hillary has a record of fighting "far-right Republicans" to defend abortion rights, while Obama has been "unwilling to take a stand on choice."

"Seven times he had the opportunity to stand up against Republican anti-choice legislation in the Illinois state Senate," it says. "Seven times he voted present - not yes or no, but present. Being there is not enough to protect choice."

The "choice" involved, I hasten to remind you, is a woman's right to choose to kill her own baby.

Amazingly, to a Democrat, being charged with opposing the murder of the unborn is classified as a "negative attack ad" -- and that is exactly the way the Barak campaign characterized it -- as if, if true, it would somehow be a badge of dishonor.

Obama spokesman Bill Burton responded, "The Clinton campaign's false negative attacks were rejected by Iowa voters, and we expect that they'll suffer the same fate here in New Hampshire."

Somehow, in some deep, visceral way, this numbs the mind, even though championing abortion has been the bedrock issue of Democrats since the early 1970's.

There is something about opposing medical care to an abortion survivor not being pro-death enough that screams out at me.

If turning one's back on a helpless, dying human being isn't pro-abortion enough for the Democrats, then we need a new word to describe 'red-meat politics'.

Psalms 106 is essentially a retelling of the history of the Israelite people from bondage in Egypt and their resettlement in the Land of Canaan, where, the Psalmist lamented, they disobeyed God's command to destroy the land's current inhabitants.

"They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them: But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works." (Psalms 106:34-35).

What 'works' did they learn? The Psalmist charged them with, "shed[ding] innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood." (Psalms 106:38)

For this offense, God exacted judgment in the form of Israel's destruction, the subsequent destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple, and the loss of Jewish national sovereignty that lasted two and a half millennia -- from the Babylonian Conquest until the restoration of Israel as an independent sovereign state on May 14, 1948.

By conservative estimates, Americans have shed the blood of more than 25 million (25,000,000) of their own sons and daughters since Roe v. Wade became the law of the land.

Indeed, the willingness to approve, and even participate legislatively in the blood-letting is considered a political plus among almost half of Americans -- if Hillary Clinton is to be believed. And this is one of the few times I believe her.

I find it interesting that Hillary chose to highlight 'seven' chinks in Obama's baby-killing armor.

God has a seven point list He keeps, as well.

"These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto Him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren." (Proverbs 6:16-18)

That leaves us with two questions to ponder. The first is, "which of these is NOT a major plank in the Campaign 2008 platform?" The second is, "Where is America in Bible Prophecy?"

I don't like either of the answers I came up with. What about you?

Sorry for the length, but I thought it was very powerful!

Have a great day everyone! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARGE!!!

Shalom,

Robin

Also, JCChicky23, I been worried about you and then, here you are this morning. Good to see you again. I missed you.

JIB I think he will be a great wit what ever his shingle says, be it lawyer or doctor or pastor. In the meantime, you have lots of time to meditate the outcome. LOL @;O

LORI, you are doing great and could easily qualify for a news copy girl at your local high traffic newspaper office.

But it would be nice to have Nate join us and kinda even out the ratio a little. I gotta tell you, I enjoy reading all of the links and I am still working on the links from the last post by Mr. Hyde. I have them copied to my Open office files and it makes it a lot easier to go back and read them again.

Now for the Nephilim, I kinda get spooked at that one so I just read a couple of paragraphs and get the gist of the idea. Perry Stone has a new Manna-fest topic going on Cleaning your House and I am going to check it out. Marge told me it was good and she hasn't steered yet.

Check back in with you all later
but in the meantime, enjoy the relative peace!

Jib,
I enjoyed hearing about your son, and his recent speaking engagements at Church:) It sounds like he'd make a great Pastor or Evangelist! Because you always remember the message more, with some different 'takes' on the subject :)
I also had no idea about Doctors giving 2nd hand advise, and the possible horror stories. Yikes! It's no wonder in today's world, though.
I wonder if that would apply for Nutritional advise? Of course, no license to be taken, but the liability aspect?
Wow! But if you notice on your bottles of vitamins and supplements, it says, 'may help' with such and such. Unfortunately, I've not found any "magic bullets :)" Drat, drat and double drat! But, that will never stop me from looking, LOL.

Wilma,
Good morning!
You know I enjoy Perry Stone's teaching :) So far, I've agreed with him on just about everything I've ever heard him teach. But, I've not heard the latest teaching, about cleaning house. It sounds like something I should be doing around here, LOL. Let us know what you think, okay?

Jen,

I'm not a doctor, I don't even play one on television. So I think I'm safe if I tell you as a friend about an amazing product...

No really, an agressive virus just went through our home. It started with my son who had mono.

When my older son started showing signs of the respiratory infection, I started taking Airborne and so did he.

I took only one a day. Mind you, I did get the virus, but instead of having it for 3 weeks like the rest of the family, My oldest son and I only had it for about 7 days. It certainly did not have the intensity inus as it did in other family members.

I used this a few years ago when family members showed up at the holidays with the rotovirus. I was the only one not to get ill.

I do not take antibiotics. If I feel ill, I try to go seven days. I mark it down.

If I am not showing signs of improvement in 7 days, I would probably go to a doctor. Our physicians know I do not want antibiotics and I avoid them like the plague.

My children are all older and communicate their discomfort effectively.

You cannot expect young children to know their bodies. Pray first and then, it's essential to get them medical help to determine their condition.

God gave us doctors for a reason.

Oh yeah, Praise the Lord for Airborne. (I do not have stock in this company)

Hi Lori,
It's been quite a day around here. Josh was diagnosed with a double ear infection and has now twice emptied his stomach on me. Lovely! Matt & Lauren seemed to be over the worst, but now Matt's fever is back. Hubby probably needs to see a dr. for a possible sinus infection and I got earaches overnight, too. I DO use Airborne and find that it shortens the duraction/severity. That's probably why I'm still standing.
More and more I'm coming to understand my mother's favorite quote, from Robert Frost's well-known poem: "I've got promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep."

Thanks in advance for everyone's prayers for our pastor's family, too. I'll send an update once the surgery takes place.

Blessings,

My husband and I were close to starting the adoption process a few years ago and it grieved my heart to know that it would likely take many months, if not a year or more, to complete the process while young women were daily ending the very lives that we were hoping to join to our family. Close friends of ours actually were chosen by a birth mother to adopt her child and then were called a few weeks later with the news that she had chosen abortion instead. It devastated them. Additionally, I have a high school friend who had an abortion our Sr. year under the pretense that it would allow her to continue on the path she (and her parents) had envisioned for her - college, etc. Today she works in a convenience store, has a live-in boyfriend and 2 children from other relationships. So much for that plan! My point is that by honoring the things that God instructs us to honor will result in greater blessing than going it alone. I know it's hard to explain that reality to someone who many not have any faith foundation and fear can go a long way in eroding any faith that might exist. But like others have said, she seems reluctant to take the trip to the clinic and very well might be ready to hear another point of view.
She and those who have any impact upon her life will be in my prayers.
Blessings,
Jen

Thanks y'all...please feel free to give your unvarnished answer, I have thick skin! Haha!

So after having ignored God's call to me for more leadership positions in my life (this has repeatedly come up as a God given talent but was duly ignored until now...of course, God never quits) I am leading a home Bible study with our church in our area of town. Let me preface this by saying I love my church, I think they do some great things, and I think my pastor is a good, God-fearing man who has a passion for the Church.

That said, I have some misgivings as of late. I am not going to mention the pastor or church by name as I don't want to drag his name through the mud, but during the Christmas services, part of the service included a video of the pastor visiting homes of church members in the area. It was obvious from the video that the people he visited were in the vast majority, affluent to say the least. Two of the people he visited you would know if you follow professional sports at all. My misgivings are as follows:

1) It seems to me that it might alienate some people who are less affluent to see it highlighted in such a way, particularly in light of the fact that hundreds of people volunteer to make the church what it is. While I think these two guys are good guys, I know little about their walk, and know that if nothing else, their careers keep them from being active members (meaning more than attendees) of the church for months at a time. I am not blasting their faith, I just think that it would have been nice to visit/recognize some of the heavy lifters in the church who really give their time and effort to further God's Kingdom (no, I don't mean me. I do my best, but there are some really great servants out there)

2. My pastor seems to be really enamored with celebrity, dropping names on occassion and videos like that one featuring prominent community people easily recognized in the area. Maybe it's his way of getting non-believing visitors to identify with Christianity a bit, but it just annoys me sometimes as a deflection of the point of the church. Perhaps that's just me.

3. Going on point #2, I watched the video and the wife of one of the athletes looked familiar to me and I couldn't recall why. So I googled the athlete and found he had gotten married a few months ago and it said his wife's name. She is a pop singer that I had heard of but never really heard her music. I looked her up in wikipedia and WHOA! I read some of her music titles (seems like at least half dealt with sexuality in some way) and the article also mentioned her photo spreads in magazines like Maxim, Stuff, and Playboy. I found my self thinking "What the heck???Does he know that??"
Maybe that's too judgemental of me, because I don't know about her walk. We have all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. He didn't refer to her by a stage name but rahter by her given one, and she wasn't really who he was featuring (it's the athlete that would be more readily recognized here) so maybe he doesn't know. I found myself wondering, however, if this was just being ignored for the sake of showing how "cool" this church is.

I guess my question is:
Am I just being a pious puss? I mean, I certainly have a past I am not proud of. Should I really be concerned or do I need to trade in the high horse for a shetland pony?

Thanks Jen, I'm passing on the note to V.

Boroeagle,

I can only speak for myself that anyone, let alone a pastor, pressing the flesh with celebrities, "don't impress me much."

What impresses me is a pastor who has humbled himself to work in the community; Helping feed, clothe and create a warm, safe environment, and all quietly, not drawing attention to himself.

I'll pray that your God will reveal His heart and will to your pastor.

DeuceBeanLiliBugFessZooSmidge said...

Boroeagle,

Coming from the leadership side of the church, I do know that sometimes there are reasons why a pastor or leader may do something that is completely Holy Spirit led, but the people may not understand it. If I were you, I would make an appointment to sit down with your pastor and share your heart with him. He may be "caught up" in his ideas and not be aware of how people are receiving or perceiving his actions. If his heart is right, he will be more than happy to hear your thoughts and should be able to ease your worries. If not, then I believe you will know by the Holy Spirit the next step He wants you to take to make the most effective use of your gifts and talents for Him. Prayer is vital in any situation like this and I would advise NOT to involve to many people in discussions about it because over the years I have found that in any given congregation, there are really very few people who can actually be trusted to pray, pray , pray for something or someone without talking, talking, talking, if you know what I mean. The Word of God has a lot to say about touching God's anointed. But prayer is ALWAYS the right way to go! I'll add my prayer with yours (and I do know that there are many good prayer warriors here who will do the same!)that you will be led forth with peace in whatever decision you make! We need your gifts active in the Body of Christ!

Shalon in Him,

Robin

Scott,
I think Robin gave you the best advice you're going to hear.

I agree completely that you should sit down with the pastor & try to ascertain where he's coming from.
Perhaps he doesn't realize how the video is coming across & will be so thankful that you pointed it out to him. Or, maybe he does & he will be able to help you understand better. You won't know till you talk to him.

I am wondering though if he only showed the affluent people on the video or if he only does visit those types. If so, then you do have a problem. He should be serving ALL the congregation, not just the ones he will get the most money, notoriety, etc. from.

Boroeagle,

Since you made a point of talking about obeying God and teaching a Bible study, I wonder if you're concerned about whether or not to continue teaching feeling the way you do about your pastor. Or maybe you're concerned because you might need to find another church and are wondering what will happen to your Bible study if you change churches?

As far as your Bible study, that's something you're doing for God. You're answering His call. Continue doing the study and give Him the glory. He will make a way for you no matter what else happens in your life.

Regarding the new wife, I can understand that you're not sure how to react or what to do. If her heart is right with God, He will take care of her and help her change. It can be difficult to know what to do because we don't know where she is with God right now and where she will end up.

Regarding the pastor, probably Lori gave you the best advice. Pray about it before meeting with him. Sometimes when I react in certain ways to thinks and I'm not sure whether or not I'm reacting in a fleshly manner, I'll ask God to make it clear to me if it's my flesh. I admit that I don't do it nearly as much as I should, but I've always gotten an answer. The key is to be sincere in wanting to know the truth of your motives, even if the truth hurts.

Boroeagle, you have a calling on your life. You have a field to minister in and through. You have people who want to study the Word of God and he has anointed you to do just that.

Don't let what your pastor does interfere with what God has anointed you to do. Keep the two things separated. But by all means, pray diligently for the pastor and like Robin said, meet with him and discuss you concerns but do so in a searching manner. His presenting the video could be only to represent the whole congregation and a lot of us handmaidens don't like the lime light. But don't discuss it with other people! Robin made the point, Angie made the point, Alesia and now me. Word spoken out cannot be put back in and words are dangerous to the whole body of Christ.

One thing I know for certain, God has told us to pray for those who are in leadership positions because He is the one who puts them there. Just as he is putting you in a position of teacher and is anointing you to fulfill THAT POSITION. God is the one to take care of the pastor and he will. Just love the pastor and pray for the Holy Spirit to lead, guide and direct him in all that he does as your pastor.

It is a very serious business and there does need to be men and women in the body of Christ to help us see the pitfalls along the way. Do all things in love and submission and God will bless you beyond anything you can imagine or even think to ask.

By the way, Good seeing you posting here too.

Shalom

Scott said...

Thank you all for helping me out. I appreciate it more than you know.

After having read your responses, I think that the best thing for me to do for now is pray. Maybe there will be a point that I need to go talk to the pastor, but for now, I will limit my conversations to my Lord and let Him decide what, if anything, I should do.

Campsmore,
I agree, it doesn't impress me much either. I am much more impressed by those who do what they do because the Lord asks it of them and for no other reason. My personality is such that I prefer to move on a platoon level rather than a division level (forgive the military analogy) so maybe that's why I feel that way.

Robin - Thanks for the advice and the prayers. I definitely think you are right that I should pray about it and often!

Alesia - I am trying to give the benfit of the doubt that it may just be my perception. I will say that this pastor is very active in building a church that grows active servants of Christ for the Church and the unchurched community. Service is a major point that is emphasised and he practice what he preaches as the saying goes. I guess that's why it bugs me, because it seems a conflict of character and action. It is also why I am careful not to jump to conclusions about his motivations.

angie - Well if I left the church, the Bible study would not continue, as it is affiliated with the church and is a function of the church. I made the point I guess to acknowledge the fact that I have not always listened to God when he has tried to tell me something. Again, I appreciate the sound advice that prayer is the direction I should go first and frequently.

thanks to all of y'all for taking the time to answer my question!

Scott said...

Wilma - As soon as I posted my last one to everyone, your response popped up, so thank you for the response. I haven't discussed it with other people (other than here) because I do NOT want to say anything that could be interpreted as being ugly about our pastor, especially when I don't feel that way, I'm more perplexed by his actions than anything.

I will pray for him and that he walks in god's will. I will pray that God makes that path straight for him. I will also pray that God gives me his words and insight as I lead this Bible study.

Thanks very much!

Scott, God Bless you brother! You know you serve a mighty God and as you study you will become even more aware of it and grow right along with the others. The Bible tells us that the teachers will be taught as they teach and I know from experience that it is the truth. You stay firm in your commitment and God will continue to bless you and increase your campsite. I always think of Jabez's prayer and I have never seen God remove any of His truth from us, only enlarges it and shows us how to live to the very fullest possible level of blessings.

Keep your eyes on the prize and the race will be a breeze. A little old man that serve the Lord for over 70 years used to tell me that every day as I walked to school. He was right.

I am in dire need of our wonderful Christian fellowship love. I just sent a scathing, un-christian like, email to one of my local radio stations (ya all know how my temper can be, unfortunately). I was flipping channels & heard these 2 idiots laughing, joking & playing a clip from Dick Clark's countdown from New Year's eve. They were laughing at his speech because he doesn't talk well after his STROKE! It was unbelieveable how cruel they were. MY father died of a stroke so that is a VERY sensitive topic for me. I'm so upset/angry I'm still shaking.

So, please, bring on the good stuff - God, Jesus, scripture, funnies, anything - I need it bad!

ALESIA, just for you and anyone else needing a chuckle:

Quarterback for the Packers...

In a news conference Deanna Favre announced she will be the starting QB for the Packers this coming Sunday. Deanna asserts that she is qualified to be starting QB because she has spent the past 16 years married to Brett while he played QB for the Packers. During this period of time she became familiar with the definition of a corner blitz, and is now completely comfortable with other terminology of the Packers offense. A survey of Packers fans shows that 50% of those polled supported the move.

Does this sounds idiotic and unbelievable to you? Well, Hillary Clinton makes the same claims as to why she is qualified to be President and 50% of democrats polled agreed. She has never run a City, County, or State.
When told Hillary Clinton has experience because she has 8 years in the white house, Dick Morris stated "so has the pastry chef".

I know it is political but hey, that is what we are doing right now! Snacks anyone?

Treasures Left Behind
By: Maxine M

I hurried to her room this morning with a funny story to share
But the room was dark, strangely silent, the bed empty and stripped bare
Sadly, I knew, never again would I see her there

Everything else was right where it had been the day before
On her nightstand, the diamond necklace she always wore
A long-ago gift from her husband, the young boy she’d come to adore

Beside it was a picture of the day they’d become man and wife
Promised to always be together, in spite of hardship or strife
The room was full of “things” she had worked hard for all her life

All the treasures she could bring to “the home” for her final year
The special things…the things she held MOST dear
The rest, given away…this generous thought brought her cheer

There were mementos of trips taken back in the years when she was young…
Days of being a happy care-free girl, a college degree over the bed was hung
And a book, half finished, by that author whose praises she often sung

Over there, an old antique clock…once HER mother’s prized possession
She’d told of family struggles to keep it through the Great Depression
Those days of “long hours, hard work, little pay” had been her confession

The walls contained pictures of “family”…some recent, some ancestors of the past
She had surrounded herself with quality…things that would last
There were awards of achievements, whose would they now be?...uncertainty was cast

Many of the things she had made herself…a stitched picture of the Shepherd and His flock
One of “Christ at the Hearts Door”…she told me of the day she had answered His knock
THAT should help soften the family’s grief and shock

As I turned to leave, feelings of joy and sadness combined
Sad that she had reached the number of days the Creator had assigned
But joy in that her life had been MORE than this collection of “things” left behind

For she also left behind MEMORIES from a life well spent
Of wisdom, sound advice, the “listening ear” when someone needed to “vent”
An example of faith, when the ravages of time and disease wouldn’t relent

Good deeds had been done behind closed doors, seen only by the Father above
Time, talent, treasure given out of a desire born out of love
Kindness, thoughtfulness, patience, humor…that so fit her like a well-worn glove

She left a legacy for others to follow on life’s NARROW road
She taught where to find strength & comfort, in carrying our burdensome load
How to be PREPARED!! For one day WE TOO will leave this earthly abode

A JOYOUS day for Christians…for that day our souls will sing
A line from an old song…NOTHING in my HANDS I bring
Rock of Ages…simply to Thy cross I cling

For the ONLY thing we can take when it comes our time & day
Is the CERTAINTY of the cross…that Jesus has prepared the way
So it’s URGENT to COME to Him, don’t put it off…DO NOT DELAY

Jib,
The article about Israelis feeling safer is true. A friend of mine's family lives in Tel Aviv, they sent their daughter there for the summer & go themselves several times a year. I asked her if she was scared for her daughter being there & she said - No way! Tel Aviv is like New York, everyone goes about their day just like we do here.
I have to admit, I was very surprised to hear that, I thought they lived in fear, but apparently not.

Bobby, I absolutely enjoy every podcast I hear of Ravi Zacharias. He is one of the greatest apologists of our time. He also repeatedly goes into places like Columbia U. and other liberal settings to speak. The Lord has given him a great mind and Ravi is using it well. If you hear him speak or see video of him you can feel the humility he has.
Donna, the nephilim is a very polarizing topic. My dad taught me about the historical/ biblical view of Genesis 6:4 many years ago, and (as cited) Chuck Missler has interesting views that bear exam. I belieive the focus on them comes from the reference to "so in the days of Noah so it will be then" refering to the end times. Some have speculated this refers to sin or knowledge. Others that fallen angels, technically not the same as demons, will again interact genetically with humans.
Some of you will remember last summer we had a discussion about the percentage of evangelical believers in our military. As it happens, I had the priviledge of sitting next to a special forces E8 on a longer flight yesterday. He's been in for over 15 years with more combat hours than most generals.
In any case, as is often the case with me the subject turned on our faith. He told me of the people he's with now in Irag, most came from Killeen (Texas), and in his battalion he estimates 95% are born again!!! Even if this percentage is only true of the "downrange" troops he leads, that must account for hundreds of thousands of men and women. What a blessing for our Lord. He says literally every church service is packed to standing room only. Maybe the revival we've all been praying for is happening, just not here at home.
God bless and see you all soon. By the way, what happened to the master linker, Nate?
In His Grip,
Scott

And JIB,
I meant the brain-tumor surgery for my pastor's young daughter. It's scheduled for tomorrow and I had asked for prayer for Kendra the family and all involved in the medical end of things.

For Alesia: CALMNESS IN OUR LIVES

I am passing this on to you because it definitely works, and we could all use a little more calmness in our lives. By following simple advice heard on the Dr. Phil show, you too can find inner peace. Dr Phil proclaimed, "The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started and have never finished." So, I looked around my house to see all the things I started and hadn't finished, and before leaving the house this morning, I finished off the fifth of Wild Turkey 101, a bottle of White Zinfandel, a bottle of Bailey's Irish Cream, a package of Oreos, the remainder of my old Prozac prescription, the rest of the cheesecake, some Doritos, and a box of chocolates. You have no idea how freaking good I feel right now. Please pass this on to those whom you think might be in need of calmness in their lives.

Judy, I love the poem and please give your Momma a hug for me. Her poem really touched my heart and I have been in that same place with my Momma too. Except, I moved in with my Momma and brother when she became so very ill. They only lived a mile from my home and brother had suffered a massive brain hemorrhage in Seattle while visiting. We lived in Oklahoma and his home was Alaska. In all of that the State of Alaska appointed me his conservator and when he was in the least bit able, we made arrangements for him to fly to Oklahoma when Mother was diagnosed with Cancer. He was in a wheel chair, tube feed abdominally and a whole army of problems. That was in 1992 and Mother not only survived that bout with cancer but God did some really wonderful things in the healing process. All seemed to be doing good and then in 1996 Mother collapsed on the dressing room floor which resulted in being admitted into the hospital. We were told that she had a brain tumor and 3 fractured vertebra and surgery had to be done to remove the tumor. We brought her home in August 1996 and I moved my few necessary things to their condo and have never regretted it one time since then. Mother went to be with the Lord that she loved greatly and all of her loved ones who had preceded her there. Five weeks later my brother passed on into heaven from lung cancer that traveled so fast we didn't even know he had it until after mother left us.

I think about the privilege I was offered and took to take care of them as they had done for me so many times and I continually thank my Abba Father. My grief is over the fact that they are no longer her to hug and make conversations with but my joy is knowing where they are and that we will all be together one day soon.

So, Judy your Momma blessed me today with remembrances of some very precious and wonderful times spent with my momma. Please tell her thank you for me!

Love and best blessings to all of my Cave family,

boatman,

You posted some comments a few days ago about the Nephilim just being normal people, or demon possessed people and the “sons of God” not being fallen angels but righteous men. I have a lot to say on this topic and unfortunately, my response is very lengthy. I apologize for its length (yet again). :-) However, I think you will find it to be an interesting read. I know I had fun researching it.

You said the following:

“Given the above scripturally recorded facts concerning "sons of God" leads one to the conclusions that:
1) the Nephilim were not angelic beings of any sort - fallen or otherwise - the Bible just records that they are giants, and are not God fearing beings - they could be demon possessed humans”

End Quote

To me, this explanation really doesn’t fit at all. The Nephilim (which means giant in Hebrew) were definitely not normal or demon possessed people.

These giants were far too big to just be humans, demon possessed or otherwise. Most sources I consulted (I consulted quite a few) listed Goliath’s height of 6 cubits and a span at between 9 and 10 feet based on the Hebrew cubit of 17.5 inches. King Og of Bashan, another giant mentioned in Deuteronomy 3:11 had a bed that was nine cubits in length, and four cubits in width, which translates to over 13 ft. long and 6 ft. wide.

As you know, Deuteronomy was written by Moses. Moses grew up and was educated in Egypt. It is quite possible that he was using the Egyptian Royal cubit of 20.65 inches instead of the shorter Hebrew one listed above. If that were the case, King Og’s bed would have measured 15 and a half feet long.

People living today are probably on average taller than at any other time in history because of our better nutrition etc. People even 6 ft. tall in ancient Biblical days would have been a big exception. The tallest people you ever hear of nowadays are 8 ft. tall and there are probably less than 3 of these people currently living on the planet. People who grow that tall always have severe health problems, bad backs, are slow and clumsy and do not look properly proportioned at all. They look really skinny and more like someone took a normal sized person and stretched them on a rack. They are generally not very strong. The human skeleton is not designed to grow that large.

Goliath was the Philistines’ champion! He was the toughest guy they had. He fought wearing extremely heavy armor and wielding very heavy weapons. There is no way that this guy could be human at that size and ability. He would be too slow to hit anybody.

You said:

“In Gen 1 God says that all life reproduces after its own kind - the Law of Reproduction
(as already pointed out by Harold).

This is a basic law - and in fact completely refutes the whole theory of Evolution.

Jesus said to the Sadducees, "24 ...“Are you not therefore mistaken, because you do not know the Scriptures nor the power of God? 25 “For when they [people] rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven." [Mark 12:24-25, NKJV].

To me, this means that angels cannot have sex, i.e. reproduce, (since that this one of the main purposes of marriage between a man and a women), because they, angels, are spirit beings without flesh and blood bodies, created by God for His service, and have no ability of themselves to reproduce - which is one of the main key differences between Mankind and angels, even though we are all spirit beings. (Some may argue that it is recorded in scripture that angels can manifest in human form - but nowhere does it say they actually have physical human bodies - just that they appear to be in human form) - light can, in certain circumstances, appear to be very solid and real in a physical form to our perceptions.”

Furthermore, when the term "sons of God" is used in the OT (Genesis 6 and Job 1, 2), there is no reason to consider these to be angels, for the following reasons:

(i) Fallen angels were already under judgment (having fallen from Heaven with Lucifer) BEFORE Adam and Eve were in the Garden - see Revelation 11:7-9, and according to Jude v6, have been held in darkness in everlasting chains) ever since that time.
(ii) Good angels would certainly NOT be going against God's Law of Reproduction of each species after its own kind.
(iii) The assumption in Job Ch 1-2 that the "sons of God" refer to angels is based on the false understanding that Satan still has entry to Heaven - the passage in Revelation 11:7-9 makes it clear that there is no place found in Heaven for him, and he is no longer able to go before the Throne of God in heaven (which is perfectly logical, since nothing evil can exist in God's presence in Heaven, including fallen angels, Lucifer included).

Rather, Satan is on (or "in") the earth - trapped here since the Fall and only able to walk about on the earth (Job 1:7) (in accordance with the prophesy given by God to Eve - Genesis 3:14-15), therefore, in Job Ch 1, what we see is the Throne of God appearing on (or above) the earth, to give audience to the righteous men alive on the earth during Job's lifetime - the occasion has nothing to do with angelic beings or Heaven.

END QUOTE

As I said in one of my other posts, God points out and emphasizes in Genesis that He designed animals, humans, and plants to reproduce after their own kind. The main reason He destroyed all the animals and people except for Noah, his family, and the animals Noah brought on board the ark was that His design of animals, humans and possibly plants producing after their own kind had been corrupted and violated by the fallen angels. The “sons of God” in this case were fallen angels, not good angels.

Satan and most fallen angels still have access to some parts of heaven and to God. They are not currently in Hell. This is clearly demonstrated in the following verses in the book of Job:

Job 1:5-8

5 And when the days of the feast had run their course, Job would send and consecrate them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, "It may be that my children have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts." Thus Job did continually.

Satan Allowed to Test Job

6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them. 7 The LORD said to Satan, "From where have you come?" Satan answered the LORD and said, "From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it." 8 And the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil?"

I think it is pretty clear from these verses that Satan not only still has access to God in heaven, but that the fallen angels with him are called “sons of God”. I can’t imagine that he just tagged along with some angels that were on God’s side and these “sons of God” are certainly not righteous men as you suggested, as they had no more access to God in heaven back then than we do today.

Job 2:7

7 So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD and struck Job with loathsome sores from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head.

These verses demonstrate that Satan and probably his demons have access to go “to and fro on the earth” and still have access to God in heaven. There are presently not “chained in darkness”. If Satan and his demons, the fallen angels were all chained in darkness, who is it that is tempting me to sin all the time? Unlike God, Satan is not omnipresent, so he can’t be in hell, and tempting all of us to sin at the same time.

The book of Jude talks about certain fallen angels who having sinned against God by violating God’s design and having sex with human women are currently chained in darkness until the day of judgment. It does not say that ALL fallen angels have been chained in darkness.

Jude 1:6

6 And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day—

The verse says “but left their proper dwelling” implying that these particular angels violated God’s design by leaving their “plane of existence” if you will and became physical beings to breed with humans.

The book of Jude also mentions Enoch’s prophecies in the same passage:

Jude 1:14

14 It was also about these that Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, "Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of his holy ones,

These two verses in Jude are obviously connected. The author of Jude shows us in this passage that he is aware of Enoch’s prophecies and appears to endorse them, otherwise, why would he mention them?

Enoch is also mentioned in Luke and Hebrews, so he was obviously an important person in the Old Testament. Enoch was still on earth during some of the days of Noah. He was taken to heaven without dying like Elijah was. He was obviously a very godly man (Enoch walked with God) and this makes him a reliable witness to what went on in the days of Noah.

Hebrews 11:5

5 By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was commended as having pleased God

That being said, Enoch did not write any of the books in the Bible that we know of. Where are these prophecies from Enoch that the author of Jude talks about?

Fragments of the “Book of Enoch” were discovered with the Dead Sea scrolls. This book is not a part of the canon of scripture. However, the author of Jude, as demonstrated above, indirectly gives it his endorsement in the same passage as he is discussing the “angels” who are "chained in darkness."

Enoch in his book refers to the fallen ones as the “Watchers”. Let’s see some of what he had to say about them:

And it came to pass when the children of men had multiplied that in those days were born unto them beautiful and comely daughters. And the Angels, the children of heaven, saw and lusted after them, and said to one another: “Come, let us choose wives from among the children of men and beget us children.

And Semjaza, who was their leader, said unto them: “I fear ye will not indeed agree to do this deed, and I alone shall have to pay the penalty of a great sin.” And they all answered him and said: “Let us all swear an oath, and all bind ourselves by mutual imprecations not to abandon this plan but to do this thing.”

Then swore they all together and bound themselves by mutual imprecations upon it. And they were in all two hundred; who descended in the days of Jared on the summit of Mount Hermon, and they called it Mount Hermon, because they had sworn and bound themselves by mutual imprecations upon it. And theses are the names of their leaders: Semiazaz, their leader, Arakiba, Rameel, Kokabiel, Tamiel, Ramiel, Danel, Ezeqeel, Baraqial, Asael, Armaros, Batarel, Ananel, Zaqiel, Samsapeel, Satarel, Turel, Jomjael, Sariel. These were their chiefs of ten.

Book of Enoch VI 1-8

And all the others together with them took unto themselves wives, and each choose for himself one, and they began to go in unto them and to defile themselves with them, and they taught them charms and enchantments, and the cutting of roots, and made them acquainted with plants.

And they became pregnant, and they bare great giants, whose height was three thousand ells: who consumed all the acquisitions of men. And when men could no longer sustain them, the giants turned against them and devoured mankind. And they began to sin against birds, and beasts, and reptiles, and fish, and to devour one another’s flesh and drink the blood. Then the Earth laid accusation against the lawless ones.

Book of Enoch VII 1-6

The above passage says that these reprobate angels began to “sin against birds and beasts and reptiles and fish…” The context of this passage is sexual sin, for how else can you “sin” against such creatures?

In the following passages, it looks like some of these fallen angels taught men things like witchcraft, black magic, war etc.:

And Azazel taught men to make swords, and knives, and shields, and breastplates, and made known to them the metals (of the Earth) and the art of working with them, and bracelets, and ornaments, and the use of antimony, and the beautifying of the eyelids, and all kinds of costly stones, and all colouring tinctures.

And there arose much godlessness, and they committed fornication, and they were led astray and became corrupt in all their ways.
Semjaza taught enchantments and (the use of) root-cuttings, Armaros the resolving of enchantments, Baraqijal astrology, Kobabel the constellations, Ezeqeel the knowledge of the clouds, Araziel the signs of the Earth, Shamsiel the signs of the sun and Sariel the course of the moon.

And, as men perished, they cried, and their cry went up to heaven…

Book of Enoch VIII 1-4

In the following passage, Enoch mentions a couple of good angels we are familiar with and a couple we are not:

And then Michael, Uriel, Raphael, and Gabriel looked down from Heaven and saw much blood being shed upon the Earth, and all lawlessness being wrought upon the Earth. And they said to the Lord of the Ages: “Thou seest what Azazel hath done, who hath taught all unrighteousness on Earth and revealed the eternal secrets which were (preserved) in Heaven, which men were striving to learn.

And they have gone to the daughters of men upon the Earth, and have slept with the women, and have defiled themselves, and revealed to them all kinds of sin. And the women have borne giants, and the whole Earth has thereby been filled with blood and unrighteousness.

Book of Enoch IX 1-11

Then the Most High, the Holy and Great One spake, and sent Uriel to the son of Lamech, and said to him:
“Go to Noah and tell him in my name ‘hide thyself’ and reveal to him the end that is approaching: that the whole Earth will be destroyed, and a deluge is about to come upon the whole Earth, and will destroy all that is on it. And now instruct him that he may escape and his seed may be preserved for all the generations of the world.”

Book of Enoch X 1-3

Lamech, who is mentioned in the passage above, was Noah’s Father as evidenced in the following verse:

Genesis 5:30

30 Lamech lived after he fathered Noah 595 years and had other sons and daughters.

Here is some more from the Book of Enoch:

And again the Lord said to Raphael: “Bind Azazel hand and foot, and cast him into darkness; and make an opening in the desert, which is in Dudael, and cast him therein. And on the day of the great judgment he shall be cast into the fire. And the whole Earth has been corrupted through the works that were taught by Azazel: to him ascribe all sin.”

And to Gabriel said the Lord: “Proceed against the bastards and the reprobates, and against the children of fornication and the children of the Watchers from amongst men and cause them to go forth; send them one against the other that they may destroy each other in battle, for the length of days shall they not have.”

And the Lord said unto Michael: “Go, bind Semjaza and his associates who have united themselves with women so as to have defiled themselves with them in all their uncleanness…

In those days they shall be led off to the abyss of fire; (and) to the torment and the prison in which they shall be confined forever. And destroy all the spirits of the reprobate, and the children of the Watchers, because they have wronged mankind.”

Book of Enoch X 4-15

In the next passage from the Book of Enoch, Enoch is asked by the aforementioned condemned angels to bring a petition to the Most High, asking for their sentence to be remitted. Enoch reads the petition and then falls asleep. In his sleep he has a vision and recounts the words given to him. In this section he quotes the Most High himself:

“And go, say to the Watchers of Heaven, who have sent thee to intercede for them: You should intercede for men, and not men for you. Wherefore have ye left the high, holy and eternal Heaven, and lain with women, and defiled yourselves with the daughters of men and taken to yourselves wives, and done like the children of Earth, and begotten giants (as your) sons.

And though ye were holy, spiritual (beings) living in eternal life, you have defiled yourselves with the blood of women, and have begotten (children) with the blood of flesh and blood as those (also) do who die and perish.

And now, the giants, who are produced from the spirit and flesh, shall be called evil spirits upon Earth, and on the Earth shall be their dwelling.

And the spirits of the giants afflict, oppress, destroy, attack, do battle and work destruction on the Earth, and cause trouble: they take no food, but nevertheless hunger and thirst, and cause offences.

And now as to the Watchers who have sent thee to intercede for them, who have been aforetime in Heaven (say to them): ‘You have been in Heaven, but all the mysteries had not yet been revealed to you, and you knew worthless ones, and these in the hardness of your hearts you have made know to the women, and through these mysteries women and men work much evil on Earth.’ Say to them therefore: ‘You have no peace.’”

Book of Enoch XV 2 to XVI 4

And I saw a deep abyss, like columns of heavenly fire. I saw there seven stars like great burning mountains, and to me, when I inquired regarding them, the angel said: “This place is the end of Heaven and Earth: this has become a prison for the stars and the host of Heaven. And the stars with roll over the fire are they which have transgressed the commandment of the Lord in the beginning of their rising, because they wroth with them, and bound them till the time when their guilt should be consummated (even) for ten thousand years.”

And Uriel said to me: “Here shall stand the angels who have many different forms, are defiling mankind, and shall lead them astray into sacrificing to demons till the day of the great judgment in which they shall be judged till they are made an end of. And the women also of the angels who went astray shall become sirens.” And I, Enoch, alone saw the vision, the end of all things: and no man shall see as I have seen.

Book of Enoch XVIII 11 to XIX3

Compare the passages quoted above from the Book of Enoch to Genesis:

Genesis 6:1-4

1 When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, 2 the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. 3 Then the LORD said, "My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years." 4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown.

This passage makes no sense if the sons of God were only righteous men. Notice that the Nephilim (giants) are mentioned also here and it says “when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man they bore children to them”. These verses strongly parallel what Enoch wrote.

Genesis 6:7

7 So the LORD said, "I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens, for I am sorry that I have made them."

What would make God sorry that he made animals, creeping things and birds? We can understand Him being upset at the man’s wickedness, but why would He be sorry that He made the animals unless most of them had become corrupted as well?

Genesis 6:12-13

12 And God saw the earth, and behold, it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth. 13 And God said to Noah, "I have determined to make an end of all flesh, for the earth is filled with violence through them. Behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

Now let’s look at the King James Version of some of the verses in Jude again:

Jude 1:6-8

6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.

Going after strange flesh sounds like these angels were sexually sinning. I don’t know any other way of interrupting this passage.

Peter talks about these angels who sinned during the days of Noah as well:

1 Peter 3:18-20
18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit, 19 in which he went and proclaimed to the spirits in prison, 20 because they formerly did not obey, when God’s patience waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through water.

This passage is talking about Jesus after He had risen from the dead going down to where these fallen angels are currently imprisoned to show them that He had achieved victory despite their attempts to foil His plans. Notice that this passage mentions the days of Noah, which again indicates that these fallen angels are imprisoned there because of their sin during Noah’s time.

2 Peter 2:4-5

4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment; 5 if he did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a herald of righteousness, with seven others, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly;

In the passage above we see again that Peter is mentioning angels who have been cast into hell and committed to chains of gloomy darkness. Again Peter mentions the days of Noah in the same passage. This can’t be just a coincidence. Obviously, these angels (demons) did something extra bad in the days of Noah to be bound by God with chains in hell until judgment. Again, this can’t be ALL fallen angels because who did Jesus and others cast out of people if all demons are currently chained in hell?

Boatman, you quoted a passage in Revelation as proof that Satan and his demons no longer have access to heaven and are currently in hell. Let’s take a look at this passage again:

Revelation 11:7-9

7 And when they have finished their testimony, the beast that rises from the bottomless pit will make war on them and conquer them and kill them,

This passage does not indicate that Satan is rising out of hell here. In fact, I would strongly suggest that this "beast" is not Satan, but possibly Apollyon that is discussed in the following passage:

Revelation 9:10-11

10 They have tails and stings like scorpions, and their power to hurt people for five months is in their tails. 11They have as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit. His name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek he is called Apollyon.

If Satan was in hell currently, he would definitely be the king down there. However, Apollyon is king according to this passage. Apollyon could be one of the fallen angels, who has been chained in hell since the time of Noah. If we look earlier in the same chapter of Revelation that Apollyon is mentioned in, we see the following:

Revelation 9:1-3

1 And the fifth angel blew his trumpet, and I saw a star fallen from heaven to earth, and he was given the key to the shaft of the bottomless pit. 2 He opened the shaft of the bottomless pit, and from the shaft rose smoke like the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened with the smoke from the shaft. 3 Then from the smoke came locusts on the earth, and they were given power like the power of scorpions of the earth.

If you read all of Revelation chapter 9, it implies that Apollyon and his demons are going to be released from their prison as part of the 5th Trumpet judgment and reek havoc on the people who are not sealed by God.

As for Satan currently being in hell with the rest of the fallen angels and having no access to heaven, consider this passage:

Revelation 12:7-17

7 Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, 8 but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world— he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. 11 And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. 12 Therefore, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!"

13 And when the dragon saw that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. 14 But the woman was given the two wings of the great eagle so that she might fly from the serpent into the wilderness, to the place where she is to be nourished for a time, and times, and half a time. 15 The serpent poured water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, to sweep her away with a flood. 16 But the earth came to the help of the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed the river that the dragon had poured from his mouth. 17 Then the dragon became furious with the woman and went off to make war on the rest of her offspring, on those who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus. And he stood on the sand of the sea.

This above passage shows Satan getting tossed out of heaven with his angels and being enraged because he knows his time is short. This is the mid-point of the 7 year tribulation period and when Satan really starts to persecute the Jews and Christians.

The beast rising out of the pit is discussed in Revelation chapter 11, and Apollyon and his demons rising out of the Abyss are discussed in Revelation chapter 9. Both of these chapters are before chapter 12 when Satan and his angels get tossed out of heaven. Most of us would agree that Revelation is laid out in chronological order, so the beast rising from the pit happens before Satan gets tossed out of heaven. They can’t be the same person and this proves that Satan and his angels still have access to parts of heaven at this point. They are obviously a different bunch of demons than those rising out of the pit of hell in chapter 9.

Consider the following passage:

Genesis 3:15

15 I will put enmity between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and her offspring;
he shall bruise your head,
and you shall bruise his heel."

God is talking to Satan the serpent here, not a snake like most people think. This passage is the first passage in the Bible where God voices His plan to send His Son to die for us. One of the proofs of this is that He mentions that He will “put enmity between you (Satan) and the woman and between your offspring and her offspring”. In the Bible, it always talks about generations of people through the man’s side of the family. This is the only place in the Bible it talks about being the offspring of a woman. This verse has to be talking about the birth of Christ because He had no earthly father only a mother. The passage goes on to say “he shall crush your head, and you shall bruise his heel.”

Notice that the verse says “he” not “they”. If the verse was talking about generations of people, it would say “they”. Crushing your head implies that He will destroy (kill) you (Satan). God is saying that His Son, the offspring of Eve, will destroy Satan. He also says that “you shall bruise his heel” implying that Satan would injure Him (dying on the cross), but ultimately, it will just be a scratch.

This one verse is a very important verse in the Bible. God is laying out His plan for man’s salvation. This verse also helps explain why the fallen angels were breeding with humans before the flood and after the flood and why there were giants occupying the land of Canaan before the Israelites took over the promised land lead by Joshua.

Satan knew if he contaminated the blood line of humans, there would be no way that God could send His son to be born of a woman. Consider the following verse:

Genesis 6:9

9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

What does “perfect in his generations” mean? We know that Noah was a good man, but he certainly wasn’t a perfect man. Perfect in his generations means that his bloodline had not been contaminated by cross breeding with the seed of fallen angels. Satan almost succeeded in his quest to remove any pure blood line for Christ to be born from. However, God wiped out everyone but Noah and his family.

If you think that Satan and his demons do not have the ability to violate God’s design and breed with humans and animals, consider the fact that Satan was alive long before the earth was created. He was God’s greatest angel before he and his followers rebelled. He must have been extremely powerful to even consider challenging God no matter how deluded he was. Satan watched God create the earth and maybe even assisted him before he rebelled. He probably knows more about how the earth and universe was designed than anyone other than God.

Satan is a counterfeiter. He probably doesn’t have the ability to create life from nothing like God can, but he certainly has the ability to take what God has made, copy it and corrupt it. Just have a look around you at the chaos on this planet. This wasn’t how God designed things. This is what Satan and his minions have done to it by corrupting what God had originally made perfect.

Author Thomas Horn seems to think that once some of these fallen angels took on a physical form (left their proper dwelling), they couldn’t go back to their angelic forms. It was a one way trip.

Now man has developed the technology himself to clone things and make hybrids of plants and animals (maybe even humans). He is corrupting God’s design like the fallen angels were doing in Noah’s day. Remember, history always repeats itself.

Luke 17:26

26 Just as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of Man.

What was going on in the days of Noah? I think we have established above beyond a reasonable doubt that there was more than just the wickedness of man going on. God said He was sorry that He had ever created animals, creeping things, or plants. Obviously, these things could not have done anything themselves to make God sorry He made them, so something else must have corrupted them or altered them in a way that God had not intended. There is no other logical explanation.

Man has only a small fraction of the intelligence of Satan and other fallen angels. If man has figured out how to violate God’s design by making creatures not produced after their own kind, or by genetically modifying plants and animals, Satan and his demons would certainly have figured out how to do this thousands of years ago.

Today, one of the greatest dangers of cloning a human is that scientists would be creating a “person” without a soul. At the moment of conception, every person is given a soul. If man manages to produce a person on his own, this person would have no soul and this really opens up the door for Satan and his demons to fully possess that body.

Thomas Horn thinks that is what the fallen angels were doing in the Old Testament. They were producing creatures that had no souls that they could take over the bodies of.

There are cases in the New Testament where demons possessed people, but they still had to fight with the person’s soul and they could be cast out by Jesus and His disciples. A body without a soul becomes an empty vessel for these evil spirits to take as their own.

Boatman, you mentioned about the two demon-possessed men in the country of the Gadarenes that Jesus cast the demons out of and allowed them to go into a herd of pigs. These pigs then rushed down a steep bank into the sea and drowned. From what I have read, Jesus may have been making fun of some of the Greek’s rituals of sacrificing pigs to their god Zeus.

Well, I could write a lot more on this subject, but enough is enough.

God Bless,
Harold

too funny-I've seen that before and it's still funny.

sorry -I do remember that now!

guess that's why peace is a relative thing. People keep saying that Gog and Magog can't happen now because Israel is not at peace. What Ez 38:11 says is that the people dwell without walls (which they do) and the people dwell safely and are at rest. The verse doesn't say anything about being at peace they way we in the west define peace which would be a complete absence of violence

Harold,

Four main comments:

(1) My reference to Revelation 11 SHOULD have been Revelation 12 - concerning the war in heaven that saw Lucifer and 1/3 of the angelic hosts thrown out of heaven.

This happened before Adam and Eve were tempted in the Garden of Eden.

(2) Just because Jude quotes a prophecy of Enoch does not mean that we can give the Book of Enoch the same weight as scripture, or even take what it says as Truth.

I had a friend in Bible School who got off on studying books like the Book of Enoch, and it eventually lead him into HUGE error. I think this is a bunny trail that Satan would love us to go down.

(3) In context, when Noah's flood and angels who fell from their first estate are mentioned in the same paragraph does not mean that there is any connection between them, other than to reinforce the argument that God's judgment WILL come on those who rebel or turn against Him, whether they are angels or humans.

(4) The Earth was a VERY different place back in the days of Adam and Eve until Noah - I do not think we have any real understanding about HOW different - but it was sufficiently different that people could live for 100's of years BEFORE the Flood, and if Adam had not sinned, he could have lived for ever. In contrast, we (the saints) will live for ever, but we will have totally different physiology to humans when we get our new bodies.

Finnaly, be VERY careful about basing any interpretation or understanding of Scripture on some source that is not part of Scripture - it's not there for a very good reason.

Alesia,

You can link to the video from the Drudge Report (www.drudgereport.com). I didn't see any tears, but it did strike me that she was on the verge of tears. She struck me as being sincere, but her perception of things is so very different from mine that it was a bit creepy. The video didn't include the questioner, but I wonder if the questioner was sympathetic to Hillary, and that's something Hillary probably isn't used to.

She is probably tired and a little more than disappointed in those Iowa Farmers. Yeah, but Hill, those Iowa farmers can really raise a stink when they get stirred up.

Just thought you might like to see the whole thing with the woman asking the questions. There is a video of that woman being interviewed later by a newsman.

Oi! Just as I ventured from my cave at Joel's and started posting some clown gets us shut down!

Just glad I managed to track this alternative blog down. I missed the posts at Joel's.

My laptop's battery is at 5% so I just wanted to quickly say hi to all (good to see a lot of people made it to this blog), but especially to gramma Wilma who welcomed me so kindly last time. PS happy belated b'day Wilma!

Just a quick suggestion (I haven't had time to catch up on the posts so it may have been discussed already, if so, please ignore my suggestion :):

If Mr. Hyde feels it fit he can make a new post every time Joel posts a new topic, with Mr. Hyde linking to that particular topic at Joel's. We can then comment on that topic, and off topic, as if we were at Joel's. That way nothing has really changed. Just a suggestion.

See you all later.

boatman,

I agree that we should not give the book of Enoch the same weight as scripture, but there is no reason to totally disregard what it says either. From what I have read, it in no way contradicts what is written in scripture and I think in many ways it helps fill in some of the areas that scripture doesn't bother to tell us. After all, you can only fit so much information in one book.

Reading this book or any other book other than the Bible has in no way changed any of my core beliefs, but I think I now have a better understanding of what could have gone on thousands of years ago and what may occur in our time. The Bible is the only book I would ever stake my life on. However, I think the Book of Enoch has just as much credibility as any other historical document outside of the Bible. I don't think the mention of Enoch in Jude was a coincidence. I can't think of any other reason for his name to be mentioned in that book.

Most Bible scholars consider the writings of the historian Josphesus about the time of Jesus to be very accurate and he wasn't even a believer.

Reading the book of Enoch sure helps to explain where all the Greek, Roman, Sumerian, Egyptian etc. mythology may have originated from.

Harold

I just gotta share this one and JiB you will probably appreciate the humor in it.

Bubba Had Shingles
Those of us who spend much time in a doctor's office should appreciate Here's what happened to Bubba:

Bubba walked into a doctor's office and the receptionist asked him what he had. Bubba said: 'Shingles.' So she wrote down his name, address, medical insurance number and told him to have a seat.
Fifteen minutes later a nurse's aide came out and asked Bubba what he had. Bubba said, 'Shingles.' So she wrote down his height, weight, a complete medical history and told Bubba to wait in the examining room.
A half hour later a nurse came in and asked Bubba what he had. Bubba said, 'Shingles.' So the nurse gave Bubba a blood test, a blood pressure test, an electrocardiogram, and told Bubba to take off all his clothes and wait for the doctor.
An hour later the doctor came in and found Bubba sitting patiently in the nude and asked Bubba what he had. Bubba said, 'Shingles.'
The doctor asked, 'Where?'
Bubba said, 'Outside on the truck. Where do you want me to unload 'em?

Good night all!

alesia,

I also have a habit of buying a lot of books. I have at least 10 sitting waiting to be read, but I keep knocking them off one by one.

You mentioned the book, "23 Minutes in Hell". I have wanted to pick that one up for a while, but I am not going to let myself until I get some of these other books read.

If you read it, please let me know what you think of it.

God Bless,
Harold

THUUNDA, How great to see you made it here. I tried to contact everyone but I couldn't remember all of the names and the comments were deleted completely. I have been thinking of you and hoping that all is going well for you and your countrymen.

I like that suggestion of yours and we could discuss Joel's topics for input. Then I think we need to invite Joel over to sit for a spell and just relax and have some fun with all of us.

Don't stay away now and keep us posted on things that are going on in your neck of the world, OK!

Shalom
Wilma

I extended an invite via his publicist cuz I chickened out from sending it to his email address that I found.

do you all think it would be too intrusive to send an invite via his email?

Thuunda said...

Thanks Wilma!

I need to get up to speed on all the posts, so I have a lot of reading to do, which is great with some steaming hot coffee.

The only news from neck of the woods, as you know, is the Kenya slaughters. A real surprise that a "stable" country can become so unstable in a matter of days.

However, all eyes are on Israel this week with Pres. Bush over there. I get the feeling that the entire ME has tensed up because of this planned visit. I cannot see any good coming from it.

Wow Harold, we know what you've been doing in your spare time!
I'm almost done with the book I'm reading & that book is next on my pile. I just have to make sure I read it when I'm not alone & all the lights are on - me a lil scared.

Angie - I said Hillary was trying to cry. Sorry, I'm not buying it. Her people told her to start acting more human & throw in the I'm a tired "woman" act. She saw an opportunity & ran. I don't doubt she is tired. But I'm sure there's alot of atta boy, back-slapping going on in her camp tonight.
What'd I say? Do not get me talking politics or I'll turn into MS. Hyde! lol

BTW: I dropped a comment on Late Night Lisa's blog to come on over to the cave.

Harold:

Excellent post on Nephilim. I agree with you completely. One of my professors made a statement about Hosea and Gommer. "One view will greatly offend your senses, the other view will offend Scripture." Most commentators prefer to offend Scripture. It is not good to formulate doctrine based upon the apocrypha, however, as you so carefully did, you used Scripture for doctrine and the book of Enoch for amplification. imho, you dun good, boy. The question of "why did God choose to put this story in Scripture" is a very significant one to ask.

Wilma, Shalom! Reading about Alesia buying books and stuff made me wonder: Last summer I recommended a book to you called "The Listener". I can't remember if you ever got a copy of it, or if having read it, you enjoyed it. Did you ever get to read "The Listener"?

Good morning all!

Do you sense that God is on your side?

On the very day I call to you for help, my enemies will retreat. This I know: God is on my side.

O God, I praise your word. Yes, Lord, I praise your word.

I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me?

I will fulfill my vows to you, O God, and offer a sacrifice of thanks for your help.

For you have rescued me from death; you have kept my feet from slipping.

So now I can walk in your presence, O God, in your life-giving light.
Psalm 56:9-13 NLT

Have a blessed day!

One sunny day in 2008, an old man approached the White House from
across Pennsylvania Avenue , where he'd been sitting on a park bench.

He spoke to the Marine standing guard and said, 'I would like to go in and meet with President Hillary Clinton.'

The Marine replied, 'Sir, Mrs. Clinton is not President and doesn't reside here.'

The old man said, 'Okay,' and walked away.

The following day, the same man approached the White House and said to the same Marine, 'I would like to go in and meet with President Hillary
Clinton '.

The Marine again told the man, 'Sir, as I said yesterday, Mrs. Clinton is not President and doesn't reside here.'

The man thanked him and again walked away . . .

The third day, the same man approached the White House and spoke to the very same Marine, saying 'I would like to go in and meet with President Hillary Clinton.'

The Marine, understandably agitated at this point, looked at the man and said, 'Sir, this is the third day in a row you have been here asking to speak to Mrs. Clinton. I've told you already several times that Mrs. Clinton is not the President and doesn't reside here. Don't you understand?'

The old man answered, 'Oh, I understand you fine, I just love hearing your answer!'

The Marine snapped to attention, saluted and said 'See you tomorrow,
sir'

The trouble maker with a capital T, was mad when Grumpy called her out as "fran..." We don't type out the names so she cannot find this blog.

Anyway, T kind of exploded, we all knew it would happen eventually, and she unloaded a bunch of profanity...she dropped the f bomb.

Well, a few of us contacted Joel's staff and they closed the comments sections "until further notice."

Wilma, Alesia, Mr. Hyde and others came up with an idea. We all started emailing others we knew and found them on other blogs to let everyone know we are meeting in Mr. Hyde's cave.

It's a blessing to stay in communication, and we're really, really glad you're here.

blessings
your mini-clone, taking a deep breath and looking forward to a break news copy,
