Trials - The Purpose of Trials

Jas 1:2 My brothers, count it all joy when you fall into different kinds of temptations,

Jas 1:3 knowing that the trying of your faith works patience.

Jas 1:4 But let patience have its perfect work, so that you may be perfect and entire, lacking nothing.

Jas 1:5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and with no reproach, and it shall be given to him.

Jas 1:6 But let him ask in faith, doubting nothing. For he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed.

Jas 1:7 For do not let that man think that he shall receive anything from the Lord;

Jas 1:8 he is a double-minded man, not dependable in all his ways.

Jas 1:9 But let the humble brother rejoice in his exaltation;

Jas 1:10 and the rich one rejoice in his humiliation, because he shall pass away as the flower of the grass.

Jas 1:11 For the sun rose with the hot wind and dried up the grass, and its flower fell out, and the beauty of its appearance perished; so also the rich one will fade away in his ways.

Jas 1:12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation, because having been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

Jas 1:13 Let no one being tempted say, I am tempted from God. For God is not tempted by evils, and He tempts no one.

Jas 1:14 But each one is tempted by his lusts, being drawn away and seduced by them.

Jas 1:15 Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin. And sin, when it is fully formed, brings forth death.

Jas 1:16 Do not err, my beloved brothers.

Jas 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness nor shadow of turning.

Jas 1:18 Of His own will He brought us forth with the Word of truth, for us to be a certain firstfruit of His creatures.

government run health care is the essence of socialized medicine and I will tell you that in other states they refer to the system in Vermont as socialized medicine. The have a similar system in Germany and it's still called socialized medicine. VT is a small state with fewer people than say California. To implement a similar system in California would result in long waits to get care, rationing of care or a multi tier system in which those who pay more for their "insurance" get better care than those who can afford only basic care (this is actually what the German system is and all Germans by federal law must have health insurance)

Jim

Verification of care is easily done. In order to receive credit the doctor has to submit the same documentation they'd have to submit to any third party payer. So if you do surgery you have to provide the operative note, internist admits to hospital they would submit history and physical with discharge summary. The amount to be credited on each bill could easily be done according to the Medicare fee schedule. So if in their arbitrary little minds an appendectomy is worth $200 a surgeon who performs an appendectomy on someone who can't pay gets a tax credit of $200.

Interestingly enough the current precipitator of our health care woes and problems is Medicare. Before the rise of third party payers and Medicare doctors who were in practice longer periods of time charge more than say someone fresh out of training. It was also pretty much market driven. Also in the early days of Medicare it was essentially unregulated so that docs pretty much got whatever they felt like charging so greed ran amok.
Hospitals and clinics that are not for profit can get special federal grants to provide care in under privileged areas and can give patient's a sliding fee schedule. The amount that they pay for care is based their income of the prior year. For-profit hospitals and docs outside of federally funded clinics-different story.

Shalom, all!

This is a repost of the last post I made on the last comment, since I apparently posted it just as Mr. Hyde was making HIS posts. So, here it goes again...

I was reviewing some old posts in preparation for my latest "Paranoia Update" that I send my family. I came up with two observations that I wanted to share.

1) Deuteronomy 1:3 starts out "In the fortieth year..." The fortieth year of what? The fortieth year of their wandering. Why were they wandering? They were wandering because of the twelve spies sent out, ten returned with lies about the land that G_D was giving the people. So G_D forced them to wander for 40 years until all the people of that generation that had believed the lies and not G_D's truth had died.

Now let's consider today -- we are in the fortieth year since the unification of Jerusalem, and we are discussing the re-division of Jerusalem and of Israel. Why now? Because when Israel captured Temple Mount, THEY GAVE THE MOUNT BACK TO THE MUSLIMS! G_D had led them to great victories -- victories that are not studied in war colleges, because they are so outside the norm, outside expectations, there is nothing for any other people to learn. And after G_D had led them to this great victory, where the lands from the sea to the Jordan now belonged to Israel, and Jerusalem was once more controlled by the Jews and not the Gentiles, THEY GAVE G_D'S HOLY MOUNTAIN BACK TO THE GENTILES! THE LEADERS BELIEVED THE LIE THAT G_D WOULD LET ISRAEL SUFFER IF THEY DIDN'T GIVE THE MOUNT BACK TO THE MUSLIMS!

Am I crazy for seeing this connection? I mean, more than usual.

2) When explaining about the dates in the Hebrew calendar and the significance of "the first day of the eleventh month", I started thinking about something I had written. I had said that we are in the 40th year since the unification of Jerusalem, that it started on May 16, 2007 and would end on June 2, 2008. Lightshine had mentioned Kristalnacht in Germany (Nov. 9-10 1938) as a possible start date for Zechariah's 70 years of indignation against Jerusalem. Since we're talking about things occuring "in the XXth year" (i.e., sometime within the year), what if Kristalnacht was not the beginning of the 70h year but the end of the first year of the 70 years?

I did some research and found that whereas there was anti-Jewish legislation being enacted earlier, on November 5, 1937 (a year before Kristalnacht), Hitler held a meeting with military commanders and cabinet members, where he outlined and confirmed his plans for conquest. It would start with Austria and Czechoslovakia, and continue to the east through Poland to Russia. It was here that he made clear what his intentions were and caused the people underneath him to begin planning for the conquest and elimination of undesired people in these lands.

What really shocked me, though, was when I put the date Nov. 5, 1937 into the Hebrew Date Converter. It came up as 1 Kislev 5698. For some reason, the date 1 Kislev is setting off alarm bells in my head, but I can't figure out why. It is the ninth month of the Hebrew calendar. Can anyone think of something that happened on the first day of the ninth month?

Some corrections: In the message I posted a few comments ago about the dates in the Hebrew calendar for some historically significant dates, I got some of the dates wrong. I'm off by a day on several of them. Here's the corrections:

Israel declared independence on May 14, 1948; which is 5 Iyyar 5708. In 2008 it is celebrated on Thursday, May 8.

Kristalnacht started before sundown on Nov. 9, 1938, so in the Hebrew calendar the date is 15 Cheshvan 5699. The 70th year will begin Nov. 13, 2008

Thanks for the links. I found them earlier this evening, which was screwing me up timewise, because that's where I found some of the dates I gave earlier were off by a day. (Turns out I had gotten the dates wrong.)

Anyway, do YOU think there's some relationship between the 40 years of wandering and the 40 years since the Unification of Jerusalem?

This movie is clean and entertaining even for children, and obviously quite quotable.

The news doesn't get any better than this!

6 All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the LORD laid on him the sins of us all.

7 He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth.

8 Unjustly condemned, he was led away. But who among the people realized that he was dying for their sins—that he was suffering their punishment?

9 He had done no wrong and had never deceived anyone. But he was buried like a criminal; he was put in a rich man’s grave.

10 But it was the LORD’s good plan to crush him and cause him grief. Yet when his life is made an offering for sin, he will have many descendants. He will enjoy a long life, and the LORD’s good plan will prosper in his hands.

11 When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish, he will be satisfied. And because of his experience, my righteous servant will make it possible for many to be counted righteous, for he will bear all their sins.

12 I will give him the honors of a victorious soldier, because he exposed himself to death. He was counted among the sinners. He bore the sins of many and interceded for sinners.

jim.carroll said...

Alesia, Shalom! Every ancient culture has had some form of zodiac. It's how they would tell when it was time to plant, when it was time to harvest, etc. I don't believe a Jewish zodiac would be pagan. All ancient people were at the mercy of things they could not control -- rain, drought, winds, etc. It was natural for them to assume each natural phenomenon had a god behind it. The zodiac (like the Greek zodiac we use today) would have been just one more uncontrollable power that would influence a person's life, but a power that could be predicted, giving them some control over their life.

Jews, on the other hand, did not see rain, drought, winds, or other natural phenomenon as being caused by separate entities. They saw these things as actions by HaShem, the Lord G_D. A truly Jewish zodiac, therefore, would see these constellations as messages from G_D as to the state of the world and the time of the world: a time for every season. (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8) It's in this view that we see Astrology being considered a science for many centuries.

The Zodiac as we understand it now becomes pagan because we give it power over our lives that should belong to G_D alone. We use it to try to predict the future rather than accept the future G_D has planned for us.

Lori, Grany and Robin,
I'm agreeing in prayer with you, that Geoff receives healing. However, I agree with Robin that Faith filled words need to be spoken, along with confessing the Holy Scripture. And fear and doubt should not be spoken, or accepted.

Alesia,
John Hagee, along with the late Dr. D. James Kennedy (Presbyterian Minister from Florida) had some really good teaching about God's signs in the sky. (Zodiac) And that the signs are all originally Bible based. Which would seem accurate, as satan always comes around to twist the things that God has designed, and to deceive people with his lies. (horoscope, and such) Anyhow, you may want to look into their teaching.
Who authored the book you are currently reading? It sounds interesting. Give us a little over view, as you continue to read, okay?

Have a wonderful day, and give praise, and thanksgiving to God for His great love and grace. I know I am :)

ALESIA,

I found this information about Kislev at Kislev ou.org and cannot link it due to their formating or my ignorance.

The following material is adapted with permission from The Book of Our Heritage by Rabbi Eliyahu Kitov and other sources...

The Month of Kislev

The name "Kislev" is of Babylonian origin.

"
In the Tanach (Bible), Kislev is referred to as the ninth month, as it is the ninth month after Nissan. Although most famous for having Chanukah within it, Kislev is also a month with significant Biblical happenings.

The first rainbow, observed after the Flood, was seen in Kislev. "And God said: 'This is the sign of the covenant which I set between Me, and yourselves, and between every living being that is with you, unto eternal generations. I have placed my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of a covenant between Me and the Earth.' " "This is the sign of the covenant" - God showed Noah the bow and said to Him: "This is the sign of which I spoke" (Bereishit 9).

Rosh Chodesh Kislev, which refers to the transition day or days between months, consists at times of one day, and at times of two. The preceding month of Cheshvan sometimes consists of twenty nine days, and sometimes of thirty days. In the former instance Rosh Chodesh Kislev consists of one day, which is the first of Kislev; in the latter, of two, with the first day of Rosh Chodesh counting also as the 30th day of Cheshvan, and the second day of Rosh Chodesh counting as the first day of Kislev.

From the days of the Hasmoneans, as long as the Beit Din, also known as the Sanhedrin, or Jewish Supreme Court, sanctified the month through the testimony of witnesses, who testified as to when they had seen the New Moon, where in the sky they had seen the New Moon, and exactly what it looked like, messengers of the Beit Din went out to places distant from Yerushalayim, to make known when the new month had been sanctified.

The Beit Din needed to do this only during months in which festivals occurred, so that people knew on which day to observe the festival. Therefore, when the month of Kislev was sanctified, messengers were sent out, so that people living far from Yerushalayim would know when Chanukah was to begin. Chanukah has the status of a festival, although it is Rabbinic in origin, and not directly mentioned in the Torah."

Interesting but not earth shaking as you can see.

Hi all, I don't know anything about the Jewish Zodiac but Josephus writes [book 1, chap8:2]about Abraham, when he went to Egypt: 'He communicated to them arithmetic, and delivered to them the science of astronomy;for before Abram came into Egypt, they were unacquainted with tose parts of learning; for that science came from the Chaleans into Egypt and from there to the Greeks also.'

Jim- random thought:on your thoughts about the 40yr./70yr wandering-could there be a clue in Gen.50:2,3 'Then Joseph directed the physicians in his service to embalm his father Israel. So the physicians embalmed him, taking a full forty days, ........And the Egyptians mourned for him seventy days. ? 1 day for a year? I know, a little far fetched, but you never know.........

This one is just for you my round fella. I thought you might need a little chuckle now and then so, here is my contribution to your needs:

Catholic Horse Humor

One day while he was at the track playing the ponies and all but losing his shirt, Mitch noticed a priest who stepped out onto the track and blessed the forehead of one of the horses lining up for the 4th race.

Lo and behold, that horse - a very long shot - won the race.

Before the next race, as the horses began lining up, Mitch watched with interest the old priest step onto the track.
Sure enough, as the 5th race horses came to the starting gate the priest made a blessing on the forehead of one of the horses.

Mitch made a beeline for a betting window and placed a small bet on the horse. Again, even though it was another long shot, the horse the priest had blessed won the race.

Mitch collected his winnings, and anxiously waited to see which horse the priest would bless for the 6th race. The priest again blessed a horse.

Mitch bet big on it, and it won. Mitch was elated. As the races continued the priest kept blessing long shot horses, and each one ended up coming in first.

Bye and bye, Mitch was pulling in some serious money. By the last race, he knew his wildest dreams were going to come true. He made a quick dash to the ATM, withdrew all his savings, and awaited the priest's blessing that would tell him which horse to bet on.

True to his pattern, the priest stepped onto the track for the last race and blessed the forehead of an old nag that was the longest shot of the day. Mitch also observed the priest blessing the eyes, ears, and hooves of the old nag.

Mitch knew he had a winner and bet every cent he owned on the old nag. He then watched dumbfounded as the old nag come in dead last. Mitch, in a state of shock, made his way down to the track area where the priest was.

Confronting the old priest he demanded, 'Father! What happened?
All day long you blessed horses and they all won. Then in the last race, the horse you blessed lost by a Kentucky mile. Now, thanks to you I've lost every cent of my savings - all of it!'.

The priest nodded wisely and with sympathy. 'Son,' he said,
'that's the problem with you Protestants, you can't tell the difference between a simple blessing and last rites.'"

Have a great day Jim and thanks for all the exercise of the little gray matter between my ears.

Shalom brother.

RE: the embalming and mourning periods: It's possible, but doubtful. "Taking a full 40 days" for embalming meant they did they did the full embalming process, giving Israel the royal treatment (literally). And I believe Egyptian funeral practices for a king called for 70 days of mourning.

As far as 1 Kislev goes, the Orthodox Union web site (www.ou.org) that grany quoted from earlier has a section on Rosh Chodesh. Rosh Chodesh is the time at the beginning of the month -- the time of the New Moon. It is essential in Judaism to know when the New Moon is, since that is how you know when the feasts are. To quote from the web site: "On a deeper level, Rosh Chodesh symbolizes renewal, the ability of the Jewish People to rise up from oblivion and restore itself to its past greatness. Just as the moon disappears at the end of each month, but returns and grows to fullness, so Israel may suffer exile and decline, but it always renews itself - until the coming of the Messiah, when the promise of the Exodus and the Revelation at Sinai will be fulfilled, never to be dimmed again."

As TexanForChrist noted earlier, Kislev derives from the Hebrew word for "security" and "trust." There is the active trust, that those who stand up against evil will succeed, and the passive trust that G_D's providence always guards over Israel. Perhaps "Rosh Chodesh Kislev," this year, will be the renewal of the Jewish People's trust in G_D.

I forgot to mention this which many will no doubt be incredulous of but-

I was making reservations for Enterprise for a car rental for a trip in the mid summer. In addition to the usual stuff they like to tack on to the rental the newest one blew my mind-fortunately it is still optional at this point-you can now purchase carbon offsets for you car rental! I may have to look into other rental agencies but seem to recall that the choices are somewhat limited. unbelieveable!

We'll definately have to do a book review. I just started reading the Nephilim book-I'm only into a few pages and oh my!!! So far it's fascinating. There are hidden codes in the Bible figured out only by studying the Hebrew text and by using computers to search numerical calculations.

So far it's beyond what I was expecting or was even aware of.

I just saw this on msn.com in the video section:
Dozens report seeing UFO in Texas"

I couldn't figure out how to paste it here but it was interesting.

UFO to me equals evil spiritual beings. (Just my guess-I don't know alot about them-just heard some info about it on a late night UFO talk show.)

I wonder if people will start seeing even more of these as we progress in time.

I bet that Jack Kinsella is hiding in the cave and reading all of our postings. That could explain it but I like the Great Minds United theory too.

I am going to cut my connection now and waddle off to bed. You all stand guard now and keep us protected. No, come to think about it, if God never slumbers or sleeps why should we stay away when he is doing a great or better job than we?

So, sleep great, peaceful and thoroughly rested for the next days work, where ever you are.

alesia, late night lisa, marge, mac and others currently reading or interested in the Nephilim books etc.,

I know I have listed these books before, but I really recommend reading the following books:

"The Nephilim and the Pyramid of the Apocalpse", by Patrick Heron and "Nephilim Stargates: The Year 2012 and the Return of the Watchers" by Thomas R. Horn.

I also just finished reading a similar book called, "Politics, Prophecy & The Supernatural:The Coming Great Deception and the Luciferian Endgame" by L.A. Marzulli which was also very informative.

These 3 books have really expanded my view on what has occurred over the last few thousand years, what currently is occurring and what is going to occur soon.

Grumpy said something really interesting to me a few days ago. He said something to the effect that God has his plan for the End Days (this plan most of us think we have at least a partial understanding of and study to improve our comprehension) and Satan has his plan for the End Days, which is something we really don't concentrate on. However, studying Satan's plan as well as God's really helps give us an understanding of history, what is happening now and what is going to happen.

Satan is the king of deception and their are so many things that are going on around us that 95% of the population is totally blinded to.

Some Christians argue that we shouldn't be paying any attention to the predictions of the year 2012, UFO sighting etc., and should only read what is in the Bible. I strongly disagree. Some of these other writings help to give us an understanding of how Satan is going to deceive those left behind and how he has been deceiving mankind for thousands of years.

The more I read books that talk about Nephilim, New Age views, ET, etc., the more I realize that the cover story for our sudden disappearance at the rapture is already in place.

Grumpy and I assumed after reading David Lowe's "Earthquake Resurrection" book that there is going to be a world wide earthquake that occurs during the rapture that covers up the fact that all the believers have been raptured off the planet. People are just going to assume that we were killed along with the millions of other people who are missing in the disaster.

However, after reading some of these books, I now think that there maybe even more to this scenario that that. There are so many ancient cultures that were expecting the return of some sort of god on December 21st, 2012 (the Mayans were expecting KuKulcan their feathered, serpent god, the Aztecs were expecting there feathered serpent god, Quetzalcoatl, the Hindus are expecting the return of one of their gods, etc.). There are so many New Age religions that are expecting something to happen in 2012 as well. As time goes on, more and more people are jumping on the bandwagon.

I don't think it matters whether this is Biblical or not. The fact is that I am convinced that Satan is going to use this deception to his advantage in some way.

Thomas Horn in his book talks about even the Roswell incident in 1947 pointing to Dec. 21st, 2012.

Grumpy posted several links to some audio interviews of Peter Goodgame and others a few days ago. I just got finished listening to the Peter Goodgame ones and I was blown away by what he had found in his research into the Antichrist etc.

He had some really interesting things to say about chapter 5 of Micah where it talks about seven shepherds and eight princes of men. Does this sound familiar? It is a definite parallel to the book of Revelation where it talks about the 8 kings that will arise, the 8th being the Antichrist , but belonging to the original seven kings (he was one of the first seven kings who is resurrected).

The following verses in Micah talk about none other than Nimrod, the Assyrian. Is this a coincidence?

Micah 5:5-6 (English Standard Version)

5 And he shall be their peace.

When the Assyrian comes into our land and treads in our palaces,
then we will raise against him seven shepherds and eight princes of men;
6 they shall shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod at its entrances;
and he shall deliver us from the Assyrian when he comes into our land and treads within our border.

Well, I will have much more to say on this subject in the future. It sounds far fetched, but the more I study this stuff, the more sense it makes.

Some one mention the book "The Silence is Broken: God Hooks Ezekiel's Gog and Magog" by Douglas Berner again. As I have mentioned in the past, I could not more highly recommended an End Times prophecy book than this one. If you are only going to buy one book on the coming battle of Gog and Magog, this is hands down the best, most comprehensive book I have ever read. It is over 350 pages of small print and very well organized.

God Bless,
Harold

Harold,
I believe that you, Grumpy, Alesia, Lisa, and Mac are on to something here. Especially since Jack Kinsella is writting about the Nephilim now. I gotta tell you that I've always thought there WAS something to it, because of the Scripture, "as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be in the days of the Son of man." Matt. 24:37, and Luke 17:26. Which goes along with the teaching of Perry Stone, as well.
Anyhow, I just ordered, The Nephilim Stargates: The Year 2012 and the Return of the Watchers, by Thomas R. Horn. Although it's going to be a week, or more for it to come into my Bible Bookstore. This title really peaked my interest, because the year 2012 is in quite a bit of teaching, and even Jack Van Impe, is expressing his interest in the year. (I don't listen to him often, but I remembered this fact :) Soooo, I'm looking forward to the book coming in, and reading it.

Thanks!

And Alesia and Lisa,
I'm looking forward to your upcoming book reviews, and thanks a LOT!

God bless!

Harold,

The Nephilim book by Patrick Heron is the same one Alesia and I are reading.

I was looking around on Amazon for a Nephilim book and thought that one sounded the best.I don't think that I knew you and Grumpy had read it unless it stuck in the back of my mind somewhere.

I'm glad you mentioned the Stargate one. I was considering it as well.

I had a client that is really into orbs, healing, crop circles. She levitates tables. She thinks in terms of a more of a supernatural/healing type of interest. Of course WE all know where it's coming from.

I have always stayed away from those things as I was taught from a Christian perspective to do so.

We liked each other and I took interest in her so we talked about it on various occassions.

Then she had mentioned a show she regularly tapes called "Parallel Universe." I watched one episode and it hit home to me. In a nutshell-scientists have done numerous calculations re:the beginning of the universe and the bottom line is that some believe that there are Seven parallel dimensions. In fact it can occupy the same physical space we are in except since it's another dimension so we can't sense it.

Our pastor a few months ago even mentioned that very thing to us. (Which got me really thinking-it was only a couple/few weeks since I had watched that tape of it)

So harold, I agree with you about knowing how the enemy operates.I think about him in terms of truth mixed with lies. Just like when you study Islam. It's Truth mixed with lies. Truth being the parts which are Biblical-lies being the rest. How he has weaved the entire story in Islam even to the point of them having their own Anti-Christ and own Jesus. It's really something when you think about it.

Hi all,
Thanks to everyone for all the great info being shared lately.
I finally bookmarked Ariel ministries and started reading some of the 'fruit' articles. The first one in particular that I read was surely meant for me as it brought a lot of peace (it was on the subject of knowing God's will). John would have been interested in it because it compared what is traditionally accepted as the teaching on God's will vs. what is Biblically accurate on the teaching of God's will. Very informative and encouraging although I had to release some of my traditional views on the subject. Ironically, I can how it was those traditions that caused me so much turmoil!

Before heading to bed, I wanted to ask for your prayers for another friend of mine....
Jen is a friend from my multiples group. She has 3-year old twin boys and has been having a tough time the last few months with Connor. He's been getting therapy since he was an infant for various problems, mostly related to sensory input problems. It's hard to pinpoint, but basically everything in his environment is
"too much" and his brain can't sort it out so he goes into all kinds of inappropriate behaviors as a result. (For example, he asked her to turn down the heater in the car last week because it was too noisy and it hurt his head.) He was doing well with his early intervention therapist, but that stopped when he turned 3 and the new program hasn't been started yet (the holidays were one delay, now the new therapist has cancelled twice.) Anyway, Connor has become more and more outwardly aggressive/disobedient, etc. and as he grows, he can do more damage to himself and others. Jen had to leave work last week to calm him down at home as he had his grandmother in tears (she takes care of them during the week.) Anyway, a bunch of us were out to dinner and I could just see that she was ready to lose it. She's done her own research and thinks he might be showing signs of Aspbergers (sp?). He definitely has signs of being on the autistic spectrum. I'm bombarding the Heavens with prayers for not only help in finding the right treatment (early therapy is key with autism), but also healing, so that Connor can enjoy his childhood as he was designed to do and that God will be given the glory for His mighty works in this family.
I don't think their faith is strong or matured and I'm also praying for opportunities to share more with Jen along those lines.
Thanks in advance for any who join me in prayer for them.

Blessings and good night!
Jen

Late-Night Lisa, Shalom! That "Parallel Universe" must have been an old program. If I remember right, current quantum theory says that there are eleven parallel dimensions, not seven. And no, I don't think you're getting too excited about this stuff. Things are happening; something is in the air, kinda electric, and all the animals in the field are just waiting for lightning to strike.

Jen, Shalom! When you started describing Connor's actions, my first thought was that he had some form of autism. My middle daughter has Aspergers; my youngest (when she was younger) had what they call "hyperlexia", meaning that she could read before she could talk. ("Hyperlexia" is more an educational diagnosis of autism than a medical one. It says there's something wrong with this kid, we don't know what, but we need this diagnosis so the kid can get some early intervention.) (My oldest, BTW, has ADD, like her dad.) I wouldn't change anything about any of them for the world. Yes, Aspergers can be frustrating for both the child and the parent. If the new intervention therapist cancels any more, Jen needs to talk to the director of the program. Consistency is VERY important, especially since it's very hard for someone with Aspergers to change direction.

One thing that helped with our daughters was a program called, "One, Two, Three, Magic." If she can find the book or the video, I highly recommend it. It's a very structured form of discipline where you let the kid know that their behavior is unacceptable, you give them an opportunity to change their behavior, and then you follow through if there is no change. If you are consistent with it (see note above about consistency) the kids learn very quickly what is and is not acceptable behavior. It's especially good for kids with ADD, since ADD interferes with a person's ability to link behaviors with consequences. For that reason it's also very good for kids with various forms of autism.

If you want to see an example of an adult with Aspergers, you need to watch "Big Bang Theory" on CBS on Monday nights. The tall skinny guy is textbook Aspergers. It's also a good example of Aspergers because the guy is very, very smart, with a tendency to take things literally. I can tell you that if she can get the early intervention to keep coming (and it will probably need to continue to happen until Connor is at least ten or twelve), then Connor has every chance to grow to be someone that people will like to have around. I will keep them both in my prayers.

Alesia, I'll whack him over the head with my hat.

According to Fruchtenbaum:

(Page 212)
The true son has a natural and supernatural origin, which became possible by virtue of the virgin conception. Since the Antichrist is to be a counterfeit son, he too will have both a natural and a supernatural origin by means of a counterfeit virgin conception.

His supernatural origin is to be found in Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your seed and her seed: he shall bruise your head and you shall bruise his heel.

Later on in page 213…From this passage, then, it can be deducted that Satan will counterfeit the virgin conception and will one day impregnate a Roman woman who will give birth to Satan’s seed who is going to be the Antichrist. The woman herself may not be a virgin, but the conception of Antichrist will be through the supernatural power of Satan. By this means the Antichrist will have a supernatural origin.

donna said...

yes, mac, please tell us what p. 213 says about the AC.

jen, my first reaction also is that this little kid is either on the spectrum or has sensory integrations issues. It all can be very challenging to manage, for the kid and family.

They all are in my prayers as are those of everyone else's prayer requests.

It just seems like there is so much going on these days in general. I just hope He comes back soon!

hi mac, we must be online at the same time (I can't sleep) so thanks for the input about p. 213.

Yes, the genesis verse is the first prophecy about Jesus. Not sure how Dr. F concludes the part about the antichrist coming from a Roman woman....but sounds interesting.

Food for thought. Here is just a part of this Nephilim Apocalypse book talking about how the stars in the Zodiac predicted future events as a way of communication,.

RE: The Magi

"Down through the years from the time of Daniel (circa 500 BC), these Magi were initiated into the true meaning of constellations and stars. When they observed the various movements protending to the birth of the promised "seed of the woman," they knew this would be the coming of the Messiah.
........In August of 3 BC Jupiter, known as the king planet, came into conjunction w/Venus in the constellation of Leo. On Sept.11th 3 BC, the sun was directly in the midst of Virgo while at the same time the new moon was directly under the feet of Virgo....

Revelation 12:12
And there appeared a great wonder in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars.
And she, being with child, cried, travaiing in birth, and pained to be delivered.

"Then on Sept 14th 3BC, there was a conjunction of Leo (sign of Judah). This conjunciton occurred a few times more over the coming months. So the most likely date for the birth of the Messiah,as prophesied in Gen 3:15, was September 11th 3BC."

(I think most Christians know that Christ's actual birthday was not Dec 25th by now)

And it goes on into more detail how the Magi followed the star.

So far he doesn't mention anything more about the date of Sept 11th but is that mere coincidence?

I'm not saying I'm sold on Jesus B-day on Sept 11th but >?

Asperger Sydrome support site-Oasis

My son has Asperger's. He's graduated from High School. He is working almost full time to save $$ for college. He plays classical piano, he actually memorizes the pieces in a short period of time. (He can play the entire score of The Phantom of the Opera, all three measures of Sonata in C and several other pieces) He is currently working on two fiction novels.

Asperger kids have great potential. Find something they like to do and then let them have at it.

When I realized what was happening with my son, I also began my own therapy with him. We would have sessions where I would have staring contests to see who could stare the longest.

Folks with Aspergers do not like eye contact. Are ultra sensitive to noises, uncomfortable clothing and very literal.

The good thing is that they can become very productive members of society.

Connor needs therapy, time and lots of prayers. He has a bright future.

Lisa,

I posted this from my Uncle Bob around Christmas time.

Since you mentioned the birth of Jesus, I thought I'd repost it.
*****************************
If Jesus wasn't born on December 25, just when was he born? Although the Bible doesn't explicitly identify the birthday of our Lord, many scholars have developed diverse opinions as to the likely birthday of Jesus.

The early Christian church did not celebrate Jesus' birth, and therefore the exact date was not preserved in festivals. The first recorded mention of December 25th is in the Calendar of Philocalus (AD 354), which assumed Jesus' birth to be Friday, December 25th, AD 1. This was subsequent to Constantine's Edict of Toleration in AD 313, which officially ended the government-sanctioned persecution of the Christians.

The date of December 25th, which was officially proclaimed by the church fathers in AD 440, was actually a vestige of the Roman holiday of Saturnalia, observed near the winter solstice, which itself was among the many pagan traditions inherited from the earlier Babylonian priesthood.

The year of Jesus’ birth is many times wrongly accepted as 4 BC, primarily from erroneous conclusions derived from Josephus’ recording of an eclipse, assumed to be on March 13, 4 BC, “shortly before Herod died.” There are a number of problems with this in addition to the fact that it was more likely the eclipse occurred on December 29, 1 B.C.

Considerable time elapsed between Jesus’ birth and Herod’s death since the family fled to Egypt to escape Herod’s edict and they didn’t return until after Herod’s death. Furthermore, Herod died on January 14, 1 BC. Tertullian (born about 160 AD) stated that Augustus began to rule 41 years before the birth of Jesus and died 15 years after that event. Augustus died on August 19, 14 AD, placing Jesus’ birth at 2 BC. Tertullian also notes that Jesus was born 28 years after the death of Cleopatra in 30 BC, which is consistent with a date of 2 BC. Irenaeus, born about a century after Jesus, also notes that the Lord was born in the 41st year of the reign of Augustus. Since Augustus began his reign in the autumn of 43 BC, this also appears to substantiate the birth in 2 BC. Eusebius (264-340 AD), the “Father of Church History,” ascribes it to the 42nd year of the reign of Augustus and the 28th from the subjection of Egypt on the death of Anthony and Cleopatra. The 42nd year of Augustus ran from the autumn of 2 BC to the autumn of 1 BC. The subjugation of Egypt into the Roman Empire occurred in the autumn of 30 BC. The 28th year extended from the autumn of 3 BC to the autumn of 2 BC. The only date that would meet both of these constraints would be the autumn of 2 BC.

Another approach in determining the date of Jesus’ birth is from information about John the Baptist. Elisabeth, John’s mother, was a cousin of Mary and the wife of a priest named Zacharias who was of the “course” of Abijah (Priests were divided into 24 courses and each course officiated in the Temple for one week, from Sabbath to Sabbath). When the Temple was destroyed by Titus on August 5, 70 AD, the first course of priests had just taken office. Since the course of Abijah was the eighth course, we can track backwards and determine that Zacharias would have ended his duties on July 13, 3 BC. If the birth of John took place 280 days later, it would have been on April 19-20, 2 BC (precisely on Passover of that year). John began his ministry in the 15th year of Tiberius Caesar. The minimum age for the ministry was 30. As Augustus died on August 19, 14 AD, that was the accession year for Tiberius. If John was born on April 19-20, 2 BC, his 30th birthday would have been April 19-20, 29 AD, or the 15th year of Tiberius. This seems to confirm the 2 BC date and, since John was five months older, this also confirms the autumn birth date for Jesus.

Elisabeth hid herself for five months and then the Angel Gabriel announced to Mary both Elisabeth’s condition and that Mary also would bear a son who would be called Jesus. Mary went “with haste” to visit Elisabeth, who was then in the first week of her sixth month, or the fourth week of December, 3 BC. If Jesus was born 280 days later it would place the date of his birth on September 29, 2 BC. If Jesus was born on September 29, 2 BC, it is interesting to note that it was also the First of Tishri, the day of the Feast of Trumpets.
The Feast of trumpets makes perfectly good sense to me since God always does something important on a feast day. My personal opinion is that the rapture will also occur during the Feast of Trumpets, which is always sometime at the end of September or beginning of October.
At any rate, the probable actual date of the birth of Jesus was: September 29, 2BC, which would make December 25th an approximate date of conception. Therefore, enjoy December 25th as Christmas and think not only of His birth, but also of His Holy conception from the Holy Spirit. That makes Christmas on the 25th even more special. I told you God had a hand in fixing the date.

Donna, Shalom! RE: your post of 12:03 AM: The consensus among most Evangelical Biblical scholars is that various scriptures in Rev. (at work now, so can't look them up) point to the Antichrist coming from the same group that destroyed the Second Temple, which to them means the Antichrist will come from Rome. I've always felt this was too limiting -- to state that someone will simply rise up from a specific location, where there is no historical connection to Israel, etc., just seems like sloppy work.

"Constantinople" (modern Istanbul) is the name Constantine gave to the city. To the rest of the Roman Empire, it was Roma Nova -- New Rome. "Roman Empire" is an English historical name. To the people of the time, the entire empire was known as "Romania." So to say that the Antichrist will come from Rome doesn't really narrow down the location.

Personally, I'm more inclined to put more of an "Anti-Gospel" spin on it. The records are pretty clear that Jesus of Nazareth was a descendant of King David on both Joseph's and Mary's sides of the family. What if the phrase from Genesis 3:15 ("I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; He will strike at your head, while you strike at his heel.") is more literal, as in, the Antichrist will be a descendant of Titus, the general in charge of the Siege of Jerusalem and the destruction of the Temple?

This idea would be impossible to verify. While in Jerusalem, Titus had an affair with Queen Bernice, who was descended from both the Hasmonean (Maccabean) Dynasty and the Herodian Dynasty. However, there is no record of them having any offspring. And therein lies the problem -- no record.

While records would have been kept of royally recognized births as matters of state, children that were conceived between a royal and a concubine or servant did not have to be recognized, acknowledged, or written down. If the offspring was perceived to be a threat (as in having a claim to the crown), both the child and the mother could be executed. It's quite possible that Titus had a child with a Jewish slave; and that this lineage would not be official, but would be part of family history. The person would not need to be from Rome, yet he would be from the same seed as those who destroyed the Temple. This would also be "Anti-Gospel" -- G_D did not keep Jesus' birth a secret. Choirs of angels, visits by kings -- the only thing G_D didn't do was pass out cigars. It's just that the world was too blind to recognize the signs. Nowadays, we've got every Bible scholar wannabe reading scripture trying to identify the signs so they will know who the Antichrist will be. Perhaps the signs will be secret, hiding the Antichrist in plain view until needed. Rather like in "Macbeth", where Macbeth has been told that he will not be harmed by any man born of woman. In the end, the man who kills Macbeth tells him that "I was not born of woman," but "was from my mother's womb untimely ripped" (i.e., birth by cesarean section.)

Campsmore, Shalom!

I could give you lots of examples from my own daughter about people with Aspergers being very literal, but in the interest of preserving her privacy I'll give one from that show I mentioned earlier, "Big Bang Theory." The skinny guy (with Aspergers) gets introduced to the friend of a friend, who is a very beautiful dentist. Wonder of wonders, they hit it off, and he drives her home that night. When he gets back about half an hour later (so you know nothing happened), his friends ask if he thinks he'll see her again. He gives his friends a look and says, "Now why would I want to do that? I already HAVE a dentist!"

Lisa,
I can appreciate your excitement, and interest in the Nephilim. It is very interesting, to be sure :)

Thuunda,
Can the Nephilim reappear? I dunno. But, as in the "days of Noah," has always caught my interest. But, it's only a subject to study, IMO. And as Grany said, we need to all keep focused on the gospel of Christ, and it going out into the world, which is the Calling of the Church/Believers.
However, as a Bible study, along with keeping up with the news, etc., I find it pretty interesting.

Love to all, and have a blessed day!

Hi John,
Sorry for the delay....extra busy morning and I didn't have time to type til now :-)

At ariel.org click on "fruit" at the very bottom. Scroll down to 142, "The Spiritual Life and Divine Guidance." That's the article I had mentioned. The part about the 3 traditional wills of God vs. the 2 Biblical wills was very interesting and helpful. It was the third traditional will that has always had me in a dither. Do I accept this job or that one? Should we buy this house or that one? Those kinds of decisions and my struggle to find God's perfect will for our lives at the miniscule level has always slowed me down and ultimately, wasted a lot of time waiting for "the answer." I even know someone who waits to hear from God before ordering off a menu! Peas or carrots, God? It was quite liberating to read - and see Scriptural backup - for God letting us have free will in those areas. I thought of you when I saw the "traditions of men" vs. the "Scriptural support" format.

To everyone else, a few words on Kendra and Collin. I heard through a church friend that Kendra is having some difficulties post-surgery. Apparently she had a stroke during surgery and has left-side paralysis now. She's in a rehab facility at the children's hospital and will be there for some time. Her mom is living on site with her during this time while her dad (one of our pastors) has returned home (they're about an hour apart.) They may also do chemo as a follow-up, which tells me the tumor must have been malignant? Not sure, but that's what I assume chemo is for.
Please continue to keep them in prayer as they take the journey one day at a time.
Also, thanks to everyone who has replied with info on Aspergers. I will try to collect the info and get it to my friend along with a letter I'm working on for her.
In my own family, I've seen the dreadful result of therapy/diagnosis delayed. My brother has a variety of emotional/behavorial issues, but in the 80s no one was jumping on them early and he quickly slipped through the cracks and we went through nearly a decade of turmoil as he spiraled downward. I credit my mom's unflagging prayers for keeping him from the more 'ultimate' behaviors and today he is living a mostly normal life. The signs were there even in preschool, but no one had any advice other than "he needs a good kick in the pants."
I think it was Donna who mentioned yesterday that it seems everyone has a problem these days and I agree. I can't think of a single family where at least one child isn't in some sort of program for some sort of health issue. I think it's a result of the continuing deterioration of the human condition and impact of sin in our lives. Things are literally falling apart at every level! What despair for those who don't know the final outcome or don't have God's strength to carry them through it all. Our own strength and determination just isn't enough to keep us afloat!

Have a blessed day,
Jen

Hi Jim- about the 'traditional'view of the AC-Walid Shoebat writes that the 10th legion under Titus was comprised of the same ethnic groups that make up the geographic Islamic areas of today. this would be part of the eastern 'Roman' empire. He also maintains that the '7 hills' actually refers to the 7 kingdoms that [Assyria, Babylonian, ect.]now comprise the 'Islamic empire' we see today. I personally don't see the AC coming out of Rome,as is traditionally thought, but out of Islam.

I must admit the talk of nephilium etc makes me uncomfortable-might just be my Baptist upbringing talking then again it might not. My concern for some of this is that some who are perhaps not as strong in their faith could be lead astry. It is good to know your enemy but be careful you don't get confused and wander from the Bible.

Mac
(and others) when I get home tonight I read a very interesting very short book on the subject of Israel and egypt. One of the points the book made is that Egyptology is not as precise and accurate as they would have you believe. The writer of the book makes the case that Imhotep might actually have been Joseph. It is a fascinating book. Not sure how much is credible. I post the name of the book later tonight

Alesia said...

I can completely see why Lisa is fired up about the book, “The Nephilim and the Pyramid of the Apocalypse” it IS a very fascinating book! The book is chockfull of statistics & little factoids about many things ie; number of prophesies in the bible, the zodiac, the Egyptians, nephilims, Book of Enoch, bible code, the pyramids, etc..

I would, however, like to state that I don’t think the book is for everyone. I think ONLY people deep-rooted in their faith should read this book! I find the ideas SO fascinating & have kept thinking – be careful! I’m not sure I should be reading this, just yet, really.

The strangest thing keeps happening…
I am an avid, voracious reader & plow through books. I read every night & have to force myself to stop so I will go to sleep. EVERY time I pick up this book, (no matter what time of day) I start to fall asleep! – I have never had that happen!
This book is so fascinating to me, I should have read it in 1 sitting (based on size & interest) I have been reading it for 3 days & am only little more than ½ done. I was telling my daughter about it in the car & started getting sleepy – very strange. I’m not sure what to make of that.

I do find it amazing that there is much talk & discussion about these very topics, popping up all over the place, right now. This particular book was written in 2004, so it’s not like it’s a new book that is causing people to discuss.

I agree with Harold that reading up on this is probably advantageous in better knowing the enemy and to get an interesting spin on these topics.

So, I would strongly recommend this book to folks who are interested, but ONLY those who are strong in their faith already. I feel adamant about stating that someone reading this, who doesn’t have a strong faith base, should NOT read this for fear it would cause them to potentially be led astray & steered down the wrong path.

JIB & ALESIA

Good points and good advice. I used to love reading the Chirstian based fiction books in the Christian bookstores. Especially on the patriarchs of the bible. Until, I started mixing the fiction with the bible passages which didn't set too well with my pastor. It didn't take long for me to realize I had a better recall memory for the fiction than the scriptures. I got off of that horse and traded it in for a trusted steed and enjoyed it even more.

Alesia, that going to sleep could very well be the Holy Spirit keeping you from reading it! Has it ever happened before? Be interesting to discover why.

Anyway, you guys have my curiosity up and especially Harold with his high recommendation of the one book especially. I have been watching Prophecy in the News regularly and love Grumpy's links. In fact, I am missing Grumpy's comments and company here. Not near enough of it.

MAC, I am still reading Dr. Fruit's pages and beyond that you mentioned. There is always a reason for his statement and I am bound and determined to find out the answer. If all else fails, let's write him a question about it. I love that man's teaching though. By the way, he has an excellent book about Judges and Ruth and I am reading it also. I always have at least 5 different books going at the same time and have since early teen years. Then I love to weave them all together into one great composition.

Alesia, you wouldn't have wanted me for a student in lit. Shall I leave my library to you in my will?
Now don't think I am kidding you! It was always my dream to have a reference library just for Christian searches. Only problem is, the internet has replaced all of that and it takes up much less space.

Take care you all and keep the great discussions going. I might not comment but I sure enjoy reading all of it.

Love you all in Christ's name,
Grany

Donna - This may come across not sounding good, I apologize for I can't figure out how to word it without it sounding bad.

I appreciate your apprehension but don't think we should be discouraging folks from discussing or bring up these topics, if they feel the need to. I feel there must be a reason for so many folks to be focusing on this, at this time. Maybe there is something sinister (don't think so) going on, but without talking about it, we might not learn that.
I feel that some are being led to read up on this, it is biblically based, and therefore do want to hear feedback from others.

If you are that uncomfortable (I hate to say this) maybe you should clicky-click posts discussing this.

Wilma - Don't tease me with an offer like that! I would love your library!!!
It drives me Crazy to hear of people in the middle of several books at once, grrrrrrrrr. LOL

It's funny you should ask if that happened before. When I was reading "23 minutes in hell" I also fell asleep reading that book. My daughter came downstairs at about 2:00 am to wake me. All she said was "mom" once quietly, may I add, I let out a blood-curdling scream, jumped up & yelled "where are we? what day is it?"
She has teased me about that for days!!! Totally unlike me to do that.

I was actually just reading the Nephilim book now & had to stop because I started getting sleepy again. Am curious to see how others react.

Well, I will probably quickly read thru them. I a limited amount of free time, so I personally would rather focus on other things.
I appreciate hearing about it though, as it is popping up all over.
So, I would like to have a general knowledge of it, so I can be aware of it and speak somewhat intelligently about it if the topic comes up. :)

Alesia, Shalom!

I used to spend a lot more time reading than I do now; now I spend more time on the computer and trying to finish projects that I never finish. One thing I did during Christmas vacation was to just spend an afternoon with a book.

As for getting sleepy, that's usually a sign of tension. Falling asleep is a way to avoid something, and maybe there's something in there that your subconscious is trying to run away from.

As for the Nephilium (are you sure that wasn't some strange new element used by Tom Swift?), we're all talking about it because there's nothing big happening on the Gog/Magog front, we're all waiting for G_D's punishment to fall on us for what George Bush did in Israel, and it's fun to speculate. (Gee, I wonder if I could put together a short story about the "Attack of the Nephilium.") (Say, wasn't that the sequel to "Day of the Triffids"?)

<><

Great Grany 5 said...

JIM Carroll,
There is another reason for falling asleep when you aren't really sleepy. It is caused when you are not breathing adequately. Like when you are reading a mystery novel and the suspense is building, you tend to breath in shorter amounts of air, the tension builds and the lack of oxygen creates a sleepiness that is uncharacteristic.

When you do an EEG you can achieve the same results which would be similar but differently achieved to panic attacks. Not enough oxygen can create drowsiness.

Alesia, you holding your breath when you read about those Nephs?

By the way, my daughter is worse about all the books being read at the same time and my son's daughter does the same thing. Try mixing a mystery novel, Dr. Fruchtenbaum, Hal Lindsey, and Omega Letter all at the same time. Well, not reading it exactly at the same time but tag team fashion. It keeps the little gray cells active and alert.

Love ya,
Grany

alesia, donna, marge, granny and others,

I think all of you had some good points with what you had to say about the books some of us have been reading lately concerning the Nephilim etc. These books should be approached with caution and probably should not be read by someone new to the faith or maybe not mature in their faith.

That being said, I am by no means an example of someone who is mature in the faith. I daily disgust myself with my lack of faith and disobedience to God's word. I am a work in progress that will be brought to "perfection at the Day of the Lord". However, I think I have a pretty good sense of what is biblical and what is not biblical. If I sense that something is not biblical, I disregard it.

None of the books I have read recently has contradicted what is written in scripture and I think in many ways it compliments it. That is not to say that what is written in these books is 100% the truth. It might be, or it might be very close. On the other hand, it could be way off the mark. Most importantly, reading these books hasn't changed my core beliefs.

However, it has made me more open-minded as far as what is going on or could be going on around me in the spiritual realm. Before I read these books, I thought I had many things figured out, but now I realize I don't know much about a lot of things.

The following well known passage in Ephesians says it best:

Ephesians 6:11-13 (English Standard Version)

11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.

As the above passage says, we are not battling against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

It is interesting that this passage says "the heavenly places" and not earthly places or Hell.

I never really took these verses to heart until I read these books which talk about exactly that.

However, I think Grany is correct when she says that our focus should be on reading and studying the Word of God and not on reading from these other sources. I don't see anything wrong with reading from these other sources and I use them as tools to further my study and understanding of the Bible. I do realize that it should not be my primary focus.

I do find that I have a habit of getting too distracted with reading some of this stuff and not spending enough time in the Word. It is one of many things I struggle with.

As most of us know, the most important part of the verses in Ephesians I quoted above is the instructions to "Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil." This is done by reading and studying the Bible daily and through prayer. If reading these books is cutting into that time, it is probably a bad thing.

Alesia,

I wouldn't read too much into your falling asleep while reading experience. It sounds like you are not getting enough sleep (who among us does?). You admit that it has happened with a couple of books now. I have a bad habit of staying up late reading and not getting enough sleep as well. It is a hard habit to break.

If you wanted to attribute it to something spiritual (which again it doesn't sound like it is to me), isn't it possible that it is an attack from the Devil instead of the Holy Spirit making you sleepy? Maybe he doesn't want you to read something?

I have mentioned to some people on this blog before that my wife was brought to salvation by a pastor and his family who are originally from Indonesia. They were formally Buddhists. Most of us in North America have absolutely no idea about what unseen spiritual forces are at war around us daily. In Indonesia and similar countries, the spiritual warfare is much more in the open.

Most people in North America don't believe in evil, demons, etc. This family from Indonesia know first hand that demons are real. Reading some of these books has made them seem more real to me. Things are not what they appear to be.

Well, I have babbled on long enough.

God Bless,
Harold

What do you do in the face of injustice?

Help, O Lord, for the godly are fast disappearing! The faithful have vanished from the earth!

Neighbors lie to each other, speaking with flattering lips and insincere hearts.

May the Lord bring their flattery to an end and silence their proud tongues…

Lord, we know you will protect the oppressed, preserving them forever from this lying generation, even though the wicked strut about, and even is praised throughout the land.
Psalm 12:1-3, 7-8 NLT

A Complaint Concerning Injustice

Why is it that those who get ahead always seem to be the ones who lie, cheat, and steal? They not only get away with their evil deeds, but their actions are admired and paraded around the world.

Daydreaming about wicked people getting their just desserts may bring a smile to your face, but thinking about revenge isn't healthy for your soul. Instead, we should commit the wicked and the evil they do to God in prayer. We can't stop others from speaking lies or taking advantage of us, but we can and should cry out to the Lord who watches over his people. God knows the truth about all people, and he hears and responds to the cry of his people. This truth can give us peace amidst all the evil of those around us.

Prayer for today:

Dear Lord, thank you for watching over me as those around me plot evil…

What do you think of this: I was told last week that it is dangerous to read the Bible without the guidence of great theologians like John Calvin and Augustine.I was told I wouldn't be able to undestand properly [this was during a discussion on Replacement Theology]? The book I talked about is
"the Riddle of the Exodus" by James Long. It makes a really good case that the reason archeology and Egyptology "dispute" the Biblical account in Genesis of the exodus and events leading up to the exodus is that they are looking in the wrong time period. The part about the plagues etc especially the killing of the first born is especially fascinating. I highly recommend it if you want to read an alternate summation of Egyptian history to the mainstream

it's a pretty thin book. 161 pages plus about 30 pages or so of appendicies.

I am a little late this morning and wanted to get this in before the noon sirens go off here. He heheheh!

HAROLD, I loved your comments about reading books that help you in your walk with the Lord. We all prefer different types of books and I am still planning on getting the one you said if you don't read any of the other books, read this one. My main problem with my book selection is really very simple. I don't really like fiction but if it is based on facts and woven into a tapestry of lifes general happenings then I am fine with it. I had a terrible time in grade school when everyone was reading Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood, etc. I kept trying to make it real and when I found out that bears don't talk, I was devastated.

But, I can tell you I have read some very fascinating books and loved them all. I used to have a huge library of first hand accounts of World War 2 but donated them to the DAV organization. Disabled American Vets. I figured by this time they would be thrown out because no one would be interested in them. Not so.

Anyway, I love to kid Alesia, well, everyone really. If we take everything everyone says so seriously, we will get bent out of shape and grumpier than an old bear looking for berries. Keep it light and keep it full of love so we can all learn and not grow weary in well doing. That is why I love this group of youngsters. My goodness, where could you find a greater group than you all. No where! This cave was and is God sent and we all know it.

I played that link on YouTube for hubby who has been telling me that there isn't any such thing as a North American Union in the works. He just left the room and he listened to the whole thing. Tanks for posting it Lisa. Then I saw all of the other links and I have sent them to his computer in the office. Teach him to argue with this old warrior.

I want you to pay special attention to my picture. I have been looking all over for something that looks like me and I finally found it. MAC it even has brown eyes and talks just like me.

I know this is just chit chat but I had to let you know I am still taking up oxygen on this earth and putting back into the atmosphere all of the proper gases I am supposed to.LOL @;O Ta da!

Hi guys and gals-
We've been a tad busy but I wanted to drop in for a moment... very interesting posts! I am keeping all of you in prayer. Please keep me & my family in prayer as I feel like we've been used as a battering ram as of late. God has kept us and even more so, He seems quite pleased! That is the way it is sometimes. Please, pray for our protection & health.
Yesterday in prayer I was impressed to read some scriptures and through these God gave me a warning. (I mention this to my husband and he said, "Good! At least we got a warning ahead of time!") When I got up this morning and read about the Transatlantic Union (see post by Grany) Psalms 2 came to mind:

Ps 2:1-3 Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing?
2)The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying,
3)"Let us break Their bonds in pieces and cast away Their cords from us."... etc (NKJ)

This scripture seems to be a pre-Armeggedon set up. What do you think?
Jesus commanded us to watch and in Matt 24, He says if the head of the house knew what time the thief would come, he wouldn't of allowed the house to be broken into.

If I may be so bold - this is the season - this is it!
One of the scriptures that I was inspired to read yesterday was Is 36, but especially verse 18 was highlighted in my mind... I don't have the bible memorized yet so I was thrilled when I read

'Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, "The LORD will deliver us." Has any one of the gods of the nations delivered its land from the hand of the king of Assyria? (NKJ)Isa 36:18
I thought, "yep, the devil and his ambassadors will be lying through their teeth to undermine our faith in the up & coming troubled times!"

Shalom, all! Someone named Geoclark1 posted this link on Joel's site, about the discovery of a First-Temple era seal just outside the Old City walls. (And the seal could STILL balance a ball on its nose!) Seriously, the seal is important because it has the name of Temech, who is mentioned in Nehemiah 7:6.

In the article is a link to this site, which asks the archaeologist who made the discovery 20 questions about the Temple Mount.

donna, mac, and grany,

Thank-you for your kind words.

grany,

As usual, I completely agree with you. I have zero interest in reading fiction anymore. The last fiction books I read were probably Joel's 4 novels and several of the Narnia series books that I hadn't read since I was a kid.

I have nothing against fiction writing, particularly Christian fiction like C.S. Lewis novels and the Left Behind series (which I thought were excellent books).

As a side note, I think the Left Behind series have done more to open up the mainstream to Christian books and movies than any other books written in the last century.

However, I now find that fiction books usually can't hold my interest. There are so many non-fiction and historical books out there that I find far more fascinating. Ninety-nine percent of the books I read now have something to do with learning more about God, the Bible, creation, the history of Israel or other civilizations and, of course, the End Times and the Middle East.

It is funny how my interests have narrowed over the last few years. Maybe I am getting set in my ways or maybe I realize that there is little time to waste before we fly away! :-)

Cue the pipe organ, "I'll fly away, Oh Glory I'll fly away; (in the morning) When I die, Hallelujah, by and by, I'll fly away (I'll fly away)." :-)

God Bless,
Harold

EU/US Merger: New Global Order By Stealth

Harold, and while you are singing that wonderful flight song, I will be singing "I'll have a new body, I'll have a new life". In fact, we sing those two songs as tag songs in church and I love it.

You know I forgot Joel's book are fiction but I don't look at them as fiction much. I guess because they are based on scriptures and seem relevant to today's scenes.

I did download somebody's book several months ago but we were so busy with our business that we had then I never got to read it. Now I gotta go find it, in all of those files on my hard drive. Oh, poo!

But that article on the Seal that they found at the Dung Gate? Well, when we were in Jerusalem on one of our trips in 1994, that is the gate that most of us used going into the old city. That year they were really doing a lot of tedious digging and the Muslims were doing their usual stuff, yelling and al that goes with it. Then we were talking to one of the Arab Christians who is also a guide there. He was telling us that the Muslims are terribly afraid that the Jews will really find some very serious artifacts there because the Muslims who were digging under the old city had used that place to discard everything they wanted out of the way. Now 14 years later they are just beginning to find some of it. According to our guide the whole city is built one layer on top of the other one. In fact, he took us to the town underneath one of the main attractions in the old city and I wish I could have taken pictures there to prove what we saw. There were 11 of us on that trek and it was the most interesting part of the whole trip.

I would love to go with Zola Levitt's group some time but I don't think I am going to have time for it right away. Dr. Fruchtenbaum's group looks equally interesting and there is another woman who takes 3 and 4 week trips there and that is the one I would like to accompany.

I have a question on that seal. Are you sure that is a crescent of the moon? Real Sure? Positive? I am not so sure and here is why. Looking at the Arc of the Covenant from the side with the two angles facing each other, what does it look like? I am going checking and I will be back with a report.

Stan Goodenough's report was very good and I don't remember who linked to it but thanks for doing so. I have copied it and put it in my file for future reference.

By the way, Billye Brim and Gloria Copeland are discussing the end times on www.kcm.org and go to the Media section. I love Billye and Gloria teaching together. Billye is quite well versed in Hebrew and the wonderful scriptures. She is very well known for her knowledge on Eschatology.

Going looking and see you all later.

Granny Girl,
I agree with your accessment of the seal. I googled images of the ark and from the end, it would appear as the symbol in the center.
That's cool. Now I wonder if that's the angle a priest would've seen if they entered the temple?

"What is the purpose for a word verification? Anyone know?"

It helps prevent automated spam being posted on a blog site. The shape of the letters changes to thwart computer programs from posting unwanted ads. I used to occasionally visit Constance Cumbey's site - she has the word verification switched off and has only had the rare ad show up.

late night lisa,

That was a very scary video about the North American Union etc. that you linked to! If I didn't know my eternal destiny was secure, I would be absolutely terrified by this video! I saved a copy of it on my hard drive just in case it mysteriously disappears.

alesia,

That was an equally scary article on the EU/US Merger that you posted a link to!

I would encourage everyone to read this article and watch the video that late night lisa posted a link to.

mac,

I loved the Sport Goofy video! I haven't seen that in years.

jim,

The First-Temple era seal article you linked to was also very interesting. I always like reading about the discoveries in Israel that help refute all the critics.

Thanks too for reminding me to watch it!

Mac, Shalom!

Thanks for the link to "The Star of Bethlehem." I'm seriously thinking of getting it. I tried to find a Hebrew calender that would let me check dates from the articles to the dates of Jewish holidays at the times. I couldn't find one directly, but did find these two links to a similar site. The only problem is the person who put it together is making the case for the birth of Jesus in 5 BCE instead of 2 BCE. The links are here and here if you want to check it out.

Oh, and can you tell Mr. Hyde that we're almost out of French Vanilla non-dairy creamer, and we need more sugar? Thanks!

alesia,

There are probably a few ways of downloading videos from youtube. The following if the way I do it.

When you watch a video on youtube, the video gets cached on your hard drive by your browser (in my case Firefox). This video file can be 20 MB big or so depending on its length. This will get saved under some random obscure name with no file extension in your browser's cache directory. This file will remain there until you dump your Internet cache (something I have my browser set to do automatically when I close it).

Youtube videos are Flash videos, so you will need an FLV (Flash Video) player to play them offline.

So... you need to do 5 things (at least that is how I divided up the steps below).

1. You need to find where this cached file is saved on your hard drive. To find the directory in Firefox where this video is saved, in your browser address bar, type about:cache . This will displace a list of what is in your cache and the path to where it is on your hard drive. You can then copy the file path, open your Windows file explorer (My Computer) and paste the file path into the top bar to take you too that directory.

In that directory, you will see a huge list of obscure file names. You can then sort by size or date. I usually sort by size from biggest to smallest because any cached videos will usually be the largest files in your cache. Now check the modified date on the files and you should be able to determine which file is the one you want.

Select this file and copy it to the directory that you want to save the video in.

2. You now need to rename the flash video file to whatever you want to call it and append a .flv file extension on the end of the name so that an FLV player will recognize it as an FLV file and play it.

3. You need to find yourself an FLV player.

I use a free one that is only a little over 1 MB big. It works great. Here is the site I downloaded it from:

FLV Viewer

4. I place the FLV viewer executable (flvs.exe) in the same directory as I save the videos I want to use, but it does really matter. In Windows File Explorer, double-click on the flvs.exe file to start the FLV viewer.

5. Now on the right side of the viewer, click on the "browse and load" button. This will allow you to browse to the directory where you saved the video. Now just select the video and it will start playing.

One of the things I really like about this particular FLV viewer is that you can adjust the size of the screen by clicking on the video mode button on the right side of the screen. You can go all the way up to full screen if you like.

Enjoy,
Harold

Dear Friends and Family:

Just got a call from Beth. Geoff had an Xray today if I hadn't spoken with you and is in less pain but has developed a weakness that isn't explained right now although his blood pressure was 120/60 during the day and 104/60 tonight which are good. So they don't exactly understand the weakness so are requesting that God help with that. They still don't know about the surgery.

On another side, she asked for prayer for Joe. The roads were icy and they weren't able to get him today although he did have some food.

She also wants prayer for her kids -- especially Ann-Marie since the grouchy one in the office in NY said she might lose her job which is the last thing Beth needs to be worried about right now.

The good news is that since the girls are there to help and take off some of the stress, Beth sounds much better plus the Dr. also wrote a prescription for her -- she has finally quit crying.

I love each of you and thankyou for being prayer warrriors. She said she can feel her prayers and love.

Julia (Our neice) plays for a volleyball league that is called "Pray to Play". They each can bring a prayer request that they pray about before the games. She had the whole team praying for Geoff.

I predict we're in for colder weather all the way around and here's how I got there.

you know in perusing drudge last night and today there have been 3 separate stories on cold weather-1 disrupting a march in favor of global warming (that one always amuses me no end), today one about record low temps in Siberia and the other one seems to have disappeared at least on drudge. People are being led down a garden path that many of us have at least speculated in fuel for a one world government etc. it certainly seems to be paving the way (at least according to several commentators) for a global tax, ruining economies in the west (China isn't going to go along with any of this stupidity and since they make most of the "green stuff guess who doubly profits?) etc.people are looking for someone, anyone, to save the from the harm that is coming from global warming.

God as we all know is the Controller of all things. He has provided a way for people to be saved from the harm that a lot of us on this blog feel is coming -ie the Tribulation.

So what is the easiest way for God to get at least some people's attention away from global warming-make it cold-really cold. It just seems to me that when the rhetoric for global warming gets heated up that there are then just as many articles if not more about how unseasonably cold it is in places. Just a thought

Morning, all!
Not much going on here today (just lots of cabin fever blues...) It snowed here yesterday so we took the kids out for a nighttime snowman-making adventure. It was their official first romp in the snow and they loved it! Hot chocolate before bed topped it off perfectly.
Today it's warmer and everything is sloppy and they don't understand why we can't play some more in the 'snowflakes'....I'm hiding upstairs for awhile while I get my caffeine in me!
Found this article while browsing around and thought it was interesting. Wonder what made him pick Israel?

unless you want perpetual far left agenda stuff flooding your email etc. I'd think twice. George Soros is the mover and shaker behind this particular organization-he is virulently anti Jew and anti Israel (which I find interesting since I believe ethnically he is Jewish), is one of the main supporters of Obama etc. I'd also take what they are saying with a grain of salt since they tend to twist things quite a bit.
