Daniel in the lion’s den

Dan 6:16 Then the king gave orders, and Daniel was brought in and cast into the lions' den. The king spoke and said to Daniel, "Your God whom you constantly serve will Himself deliver you."

17 A stone was brought and laid over the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet ring and with the signet rings of his nobles, so that nothing would be changed in regard to Daniel.

18 Then the king went off to his palace and spent the night fasting, and no entertainment was brought before him; and his sleep fled from him.

19 Then the king arose at dawn, at the break of day, and went in haste to the lions' den.

20 When he had come near the den to Daniel, he cried out with a troubled voice. The king spoke and said to Daniel, "Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you constantly serve, been able to deliver you from the lions?"

21 Then Daniel spoke to the king, "O king, live forever!

22 "My God sent His angel and shut the lions' mouths and they have not harmed me, inasmuch as I was found innocent before Him; and also toward you, O king, I have committed no crime."

23 Then the king was very pleased and gave orders for Daniel to be taken up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den and no injury whatever was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.

Hi Guys

Have not been reading or posting as I have not had time, just supporting family and trying to catch up with work!

Adi has good and bad moments but the silver lining is her growing faith in G_d. He is awesome in His workings and how He turns bad into good. Please continue to pray for Adi and the girls.

My eldest is very close to her mom and is avoiding any conversation on what is happening. The other day at school she cut herself deliberately with scissors so she could be sent home to be with her mom, so they are effected but act out differently. The youngest is just being louder than usual.

I have missed all the interesting posts and I am now trying to back track to pick up the threads. It will get easier as I catch up with work and can spend mpre time reading here.

Boatman -- I' in VA nd those tornados were about an hour from us to the south...Jibs in a too but closer to me if I remember correctly...the unique thing about these twisters is that there was NO warnings...I mean nothing...we usually get local news warnigs and of course the weather center on National news but these were not forseen.

Doesn't surprise me...He desn't owe us any warnings but I did experience something "interesting"...since I have really become awre of the Spirit's presence in my life, I have noticed that there are definite times when I am led to stay home and just pray for others...and I'm seeing that happen in m other Christian friends too. We haven't discussed it , but I know of 4 Christians yesterday that felt "blue" for lack of better words and stayed home and did nothing...sat in prayer. Do I sound like a nut?

I realy believe that we are being trained in following His lead and I think that sometimes it is a literal following, or in this case not to venture out. I'm awed every day by His power and awesomeness.... and I absolutely giggle when I see it happen in others that are believers...the confirmation is incredible and humbling all at once!!!

So, we were not touched by the tornados but are keeping all those people in prayer...

Jeri --- Thank you so much for checking in !!! I have been praying for all of you! I'm thrilled to hear of your wife's "progress" in the Lord!! You are a fantastic mentor! Also, take it for what it's worth...if your daughters' want to spend more time wth mom right now...let them! They will catch up on school work but this time with their mom can never be regained... sure wish I had had more time with mine...I dropped out of school for a year to be with mine and it still wasn't enough ! I think it is dangerous to imply that ALL people MUST speak in tongues. I personally don't think all people can or are given that gift, per se.
I think sometimes it is implied here that if you do not speak in tongues you are a flawed or not good enough Christian. I don't think that is accurate or very fair to put on people, especially when they are new to the faith.

(Am I going back into the Lion's Den here? You should know me by now.)

John & others,

Thanks for pointing out those discrepancies in the Holy Spirit Baptism article.

He certainly takes a "middle of the road" stance on the subject.

I come from the background of knowing just about nothing re: the gift of tongues(as you can personally attest to) to actually speaking in tongues in a very short period of time.

I felt the Holy Spirit was leading me to ask for the gift of tongues so I followed. Previously I had neither heard nor seen anyone speak in tongues.(And was rather closed to it)

I've since looked into the "early rain" and what had transpired in some of the Charismatic circles.
As in all things-people got carried away with "the actual supernatural experiences" in which Satan saw as his opportunity to corrupt some saints in that particular movement.

Well he corrupts EVERYTHING he can including the nominal non-tongue speaking churches.

He is the author of confusion and chaos.

I agree w/the article that the "ability" to speak in tongues does not mean your necessarily filled w/the "Holy Spirit". Satan can also speak through our spirits in tongues.

Interesting, when I had listened to a Catholic Exorcism dicussion there was someone who spoke in tongues who was demon possessed. The priest could tell it was not "Holy Spirt" led by the actual "gibberish" he called it being spoken.

The demon possessed person could say many great things about Christ but the one thing she could not say & repeat after the priest was that "Jesus Christ is God who came down in flesh to redeem mandkind from sin."

I know I'm getting a little off track here.

The bottom line is we need to search for the truth in God's word. If we search we will find it.
It takes effort. After reading Acts and other scripture-I firmly believe that speaking in tongues among other gifts of the Holy Spirit is meant for the Church today as much as /if not more in these end days than it was in the days of the Apostles.

God's word is very basic. People really tend to over complicate things. Go to the roots. I think that is why we can learn so much more about prophesy after studying the Jewish customs.

It's a window into seeing how God operates.Obviously he's allowing us to see some things now that have previously been misinterpreted or just simply overlooked.

How this article breaks down all these "types" of Holy Spirit baptisms-I'm not so sure about.

All I can tell you is from personal experience.

#1. I was baptized as a JW in water years ago. I'm not thinking as that really counting now-so I would like to re-baptized this summer. So you can basically say that I'm not even water Baptized.

#2. I have been Baptized with the Holy Spirit in some fashion. I don't know if it was : of,in,by or whatever. I've been on fire for the Lord ever sense.

3#. My goal has been to increase in Spiritual Maturity. Now I'm an "infant" in the tongue speaking world. And I'm really a lone duck. I can't say that I have anymore "Zeal" than I previously had before. But what I can say is that my relationship with the Lord is much more "intimate."

I'm to the point now if my husband turns the TV on to a worldly show-(which is nightly)it's as if someones nails are being scraped against a chalkboard. I have a very heightened sense of any attitude/tone/manner of worldiness. As before I didn't really notice-somewhat hazy-and now it screams out loud and clear.

I'm not attriubting that since the "tongue speaking" incident-it's just what the Holy Spirt has done and worked within me.

We all know that no one is forced into doing anything with or for the Lord if they don't want to. Sometimes we are led to a path but choose not to take it. So in order to fulfill His plans, God will try again with someone willing.

But whatever path or direction God places before us- I'm sure most would agree that we need to continually strive for Spiritual Maturity.

Otherwise complacency sets in the the fruits of the Spirit diminish.

So my closing thought on this is: I don't think Love or Zeal are any deeper in the "Holy Sprirt Gifted" person than the Christain without those gifts.

But what it does do is place your Spiritual life into a different dimension with the Spiritual world.

Of course as sinful humans we have to treat these gifts with care otherwise sin can come into play and pervert their intended use.

That is what appears to have happend in times past and times present.

Donna, Shalom! I finally started watching/listening to Mark Blitz this noon, then wrote him an email about all the date-setting stuff I'd been looking at. Of course after working on the email for an hour, I realized that all the stuff on Zechariah I was writing about had come from people who had been quoting Rev. Blitz's original article! So I shortened up the email quite a bit and included the information about Dec. 12, 2012 and the 42 months. I also realized that if the 70 years of Zechariah 1:7ff are related to Kristalnacht, then the 70th year of Mercy for Jerusalem (where the Lord starts punishing those countries that have plundered Jerusalem) begins Nov. 13, 2008, just eleven days after the presidential election. Hmmm...

Homeward Bound, the study notes for the video can be found here and the charts can be found here. The very last graphic in the charts isn't showing up, but you can find it at http://www.elshaddaiministries.us/images/eclipses20142015.png. (I've written Rev. Blitz about it.)

Lori, congrats on the job! And as for, "...YOU'RE NEXT!!!!!!!!!", should I start running and ducking, or what?

Speaking in tongues:

I’m going to make a few comments here in the spirit of love and peace. I know this is a divisive issue and has even been the cause of some tears at the Omega Letter whenever the subject comes up, so I am not surprised that it has happened here.

First of all I obviously need to clarify MY position because I think some may have misconstrued my intentions.

I AM NOT a cessasionist.

I believe ALL the gifts are STILL available to the church - tongues included.

Personally, I think it would be wrong to invalidate a person’s private experience with God. I will one day have to answer to the Lord and I wouldn’t want to have that on my conscience. I happen to know quite a few OL members who DO speak in tongues and MANY who don’t.

The David Reagan article I posted does not discredit speaking tongues at all. In fact, in my opinion, he presented a balanced view. I posted that article with some trepidation knowing that “some” might take offence. But that article came to me as an answer to my own prayerful inquiry. Personally, I’m neutral about speaking in tongues; if God gives me that gift then well and good. I have prayed about it and so far He hasn’t. But I know that He has given me other gifts and I can go to Him with issues and receive responses. I’m just happy if He can use me in any way.

Where I DO have a problem is when someone tries to use scripture to infer that EVERYONE should speak in tongues as a demonstration that they have received the Baptism of the Spirit. A careful reading of Corinthians will show that that is NOT what the thrust of Paul’s teaching is and I encourage anyone who thinks otherwise to prayerfully study it again. Furthermore, making such a claim to a Christian is a disservice to the body of Christ. If God has decided not to give a Christian the gift of tongues then it would be wrong to pursue that area while neglecting the true gift that person has been given. Does any of this make sense?

I sincerely hope no one has been offended by these comments. In the interest of peace I will not engage in any more discussions on this matter.

Mac, you said:

If God has decided not to give a Christian the gift of tongues then it would be wrong to pursue that area while neglecting the true gift that person has been given.

My only problem with that is that this implies, infers, makes the supposition that God is a respector of persons, that some get the gift and some don't.

BUT, God clearly states in His Word that He is NOT a respecter of persons [Acts 10:34, Ephesians 6:9], and what He promises for one (i.e. the first disciples), He promises for ALL, AND MUST GIVE TO ALL, if we ask for it in faith.

As far as receiving the baptism of Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in tongues, Jesus clearly told us WE have to ASK for it [Luke 11:13] - it does not come as a sovereign move of God.

As with everything in our walk with God, it is received by exercising our faith and asking God for the baptism, and then believing we have it. As Mark 11:24 clearly states, if we ask, but do not believe we have received, we will not receive.

Admittedly, it can take a while to understand that if we ask, we have received, and in faith we just open our moths and speak out in tongues. God CANNOT make us do it.

John

This article had more information on Billy Graham. He wrote a "Holy Spirit" book which I think had quite a bit of info in it.(I didn't read it)

From what I have gathered so far-he definately had a Supernatural Holy Spirit experience but never actually stated that he spoke in tongues.

Now his daugher does speak in tongues and teaches about it as well.

Hi Nate,
I agree about the sharing. Over the last few months, I've had a really persistent JW coming to the door and unlike my usual reaction, I haven't turned her away. However, I haven't shared my faith with her either, mostly because I really didn't want to get into the whole talking points discussion that I knew would follow. But in the last few weeks, Holy Spirit has prepared me for that and I'm ready to share my love of the Lord next time she shows up. You hit the nail on the head with the fact that WE don't have to worry about winning any battles. That's been my stumbling block so often. I plan to just tell her basically that I don't come to God in fear (she always tries to work her conversations around fear...Armagheddon, all the problems in society and esp. things that can happen to young children.) That's no reason to come to God!
I was talking to the Lord about it and asked Him to not send her again until I was ready to represent Him in truth. And I blurted out "I'm ready". It was the weirdest thing cause I didn't feel it, but it was confirmation to me that I can have that interaction and do it in a way that brings His light to her, perhaps in a way she's never dealth with before since I don't plan to try to rebut her arguments. I'm just going to stick with my personal relationship with Him and why I wouldn't trade that for the world.

Mac & John, et all... thank you for handling the tongues subject with brotherly love. I started to feel tense today, waiting for the flaming to set forth. If we burn down the cave, we won't know where to turn and I imagine that would make Satan quite happy. He's keeping tabs, you know, and is looking for opportunities to divide this very precious fellowship.

John, I don't have a moth; will a butterfly work as well? LOL! Seriously, I value your teaching so much. In my mind you're kinda like my favorite English professor at college :-) But I'm sure when we meet I'll be looking for the wrong guy! You don't like tweed sports jackets and love to recite Shakespeare, do you?
You make a good point and I'll add one tidbit to it as well. It can take awhile and it doesn't flow immediately fluently for everyone. Lisa and I started with choking-like sounds and she pointed out to me that she misunderstood what to expect. She thought she would "hear" words that she was to speak, so she kept silent waiting to hear those words. My greatest obstacle was fear of being found out so I was never really yielding early on. Some days I fought it back, tried to convince myself against it and was scared that I had received something God did not intend.
My advice to anyone who is the tiniest bit interested or feels (like I did) that God keeps pulling you back to the topic, even if you have no interest in it or have formed an opinion about it is to have that conversation with God. Books and various authors can be found to argue pro and con, but ultimately all you need is the Scriptures and a sincere prayer time with God. Paul and the apostles only had the fellowship/prayer time and God was faithful in leading them to where He wanted them to go in relationship with Him. The same goes for us today.

Well, maybe I shouldn't add to the discussion. I didn't feel led to earlier, but I thought perhaps my additional points would help clarify a few things. I'll promise to keep the matter in prayer for everyone who spends time in our group.

Blessings,
Jen

John
while the article you recommended on Mr Graham mentions him being "baptized by the Holy Spirit", not one time did it say he or the others had evidences of speaking in tongues. Only that they had earnestly sought the power of the Holy Spirit in order to reach more people. It wasn't for themselves, it was to reach others for Christ. I read the bible and understand that "gifts" are given to us to edify the body of
Christ and that we are all given different gifts. With the gifts of tongues there is the gift of interpretations. I do not think that I need to speak in tongues for God to understand me.
I feel that telling people that the evidence of the
Baptism of the Holy Ghost/Spirit is speaking in tongues is very harmful to those who truly seek it and never find it. I believe they would be seeking it (speaking in tongues- not the Holy Spirit) for the wrong reasons. They would be looking for a SIGN that God has favored them, not for power to reach others for Christ. Which is what it was intended for in the early church. I am not saying it can't happen today, just that I feel that gift is being sought for the wrong reasons. I have an article that I will post as soon as I can find it that pretty much explains what I feel about it.
I am not discounting anyones experiences, just that to say if I don't speak in tongues then I have not been baptized by the Holy Spirit is to tell me that I am less spiritual than someone else. I believe this is wrong and can be damaging to new or misguided Christians who truly want to serve the Lord and witness to others. How can I witness to others if I believe I don't have power from God because I don't speak in tongues.
Well this is just my thoughts. I am not trying to force them, just voice them. Thanks for reading it.

Debbie
PS I even read the second part from your recommended article. It was called, "How to be filled". Still it said nothing about speaking in tongues. As a matter of fact, the first -large- paragraph seems to speak against speaking in tongues as done today. Why did you point to an article that seems to speak against speaking in tongues?

"I think sometimes it is implied here that if you do not speak in tongues you are a flawed or not good enough Christian. I don't think that is accurate or very fair to put on people, especially when they are new to the faith."

I have found that over the years this has been a problem. It does seem to be implied that way. I pray also that this will not be a divisive issue as I have seen it be in the past. It is one that most of us struggle with just like the OSAS issue that continually comes up. I think we all have to realize that we don't have perfect understanding of all things. Why this occurs and why the divisions on these things I don't know. I just pray that they will not divide us.

You have voiced one of my concerns when I first encountered the baptisim of the Holy Spirit in the 1970's. Some were made to feel that if they did not speak in tongues they had not received the baptisim, others were made to feel less Christian because of this. It was one of my struggles. The Holy Spirit gives the gifts as He sees fit, that's why they are called gifts, although you can ask for them. It really did cause a great deal of division and we know who is behind that! I pray that does not happen!

I am sorry to here that. It was the opposite in my experience, because some felt that they were closer and more favored by God because they had received gifts.
Paul dealt with similar issues in his letters.

Here is an article I tend to agree with. It states that everyone can receive the gift of personal tongue prayer if they ask for it.

Holy Spirit

There were two other types of tongue gifts above and beyond the "personal" type. These were the additional gifts some may or may not have.

And-you don't have to actually speak in tongues to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

I'm fairly certain that I was already filled with the Holy Spirit "before" I spoke in tongues.

But when I decided to try it - I prepared myself a week in advance.

I told God that I was probably going to ask for this but I wanted to be 100% sure this was something he was leading me to do. Just as I said that I felt His presence so that was enough proof for me.

I read the Bible and waited until a book came on the subject.

Meanwhile during that week of waiting I did feel a little strange tongue sensation but I brushed it off as to my imagination.(I now think back to that and realize if I had yielded at those moments I probably would have started speaking then and there)

I finally got the book. Read just enough to get a feeling for what to expect-(As I had no clue)then felt I didn't need to read anymore @ that time and went into 2 hours of prayer with absolutely nothing happening. Zip, Zero, Nada.

I really didn't want to give up. I knew I had the faith. And I knew that if I didn't succeed I was going to feel rejected. Ok, so I felt rejected but I didn't want to be a baby about it.

So I went on to do my errands feeling sorry for myself but determined not to quit trying.

I had the usual doubts pop up. "Well maybe it's not His will." Then I just pushed those out with- He said if I asked I would recieve and I'm not going to doubt His word.

I went back home. Prayed about it. Was trying to figure out what in the world was I not doing right.Went back to the book and "Yielding" stood out. So I kept focusing on that word. Then I just opened my mouth w/a little laugh at myself (about what I had been doing throughout the course of the day moping around) and out it came. Just flowing along. There was no supernatural feeling that came along w/it.

So everyone's experience will be quite different. Mine was similar to birthing a baby. It was some really hard work and pushing myself not give up and rely on God to direct me as to what I was not doing correctly.

I would have to say this was THE most Spiritually intense day of my life. And one I will never forget. It definately was not "easy street" for me.

Too many of the accounts make it sound like whoosh-you've got it when probably quite a lot of us if honest-will admit to it being a struggle.

Anyway, hope this may help some of you.

Yes, Mac - That article clearly delineates a growing threat that most don't even see. When I was teaching, I saw it happening, too, with special preference given to Muslim students to speak out during assmeblies post-9/11 (I watched the towers fall on TV with my class that morning. Will never forget that day!) so that their peers wouldn't fear them. At the time, it sounded like a good idea, but now I can see that it's just part of a re-sensitizing plan.
MEMRI has a news item related to this from Apr. 24th. Don't have time to do the link, but it's at

I just watched a Perry Stone DVD titled: The Bloodline of the Anitchrist.

It was very good. He ties in the Islamic end time beliefs w/the Biblical. The Mahdi being the Anti-Christ. The false prophet being someone under the umbrella of Islam/apostate Christianity.

Basically the Antichrist will come from the line of Ishmael. He will be reveald when the Church is raptured.

But what I thought was particularly interesting was this:

One of the black turbin big wigs over there was bragging that their Mahdi was even mentioned in our Holy Bible.

He quoted Revelation 6:2.

In their Holy books the Mahdi is also mentioned riding a white horse.

On the new Iraqi currency there where three interesting images.

#1. It states in Arabic that Allah is only one.(No son)

#2. They have a picture of a serpent with a horn sticking up between it's eyes.

#3. There is a picture of a white horse head which represents the coming Mahdi.

The only thing holding the Mahdi back now is the US in Iraq. They say he is already present and awaiting hiding in a cave.

Ahmadinejad knows him & wants to stir up chaos to bring him in.

When the US leaves Iraq-Iran has plans to topple the democratic Iraqi govt.(big suprise?)

Perry didn't say he specifically thought this guy was the actual Mahdi they are speaking of but-Osama Bin Ladin is currently telling everyone that he is the fortold Mahdi.

What do you think? The money part sure raised the hair on my head.

I had wondered if Ahmadinejad thought the Mahdi was already here and if he had met with him...a few months back, some of his comments about the Mahdi's return led me to believe that he had indeed met with someone that was secluded away in waiting. If so, then my next question is 'what exactly is he seeing/meeting?'

A song for Donna (all of us, actually!)

"Give to the Wind Thy Fears" - Paul Gerhardt, 1656

Give to the winds thy fears,
Hope and be undismayed.
God hears thy sighs and
counts thy tears,
God shall lift up thy head.

Through waves and clouds
and storms,
He gently clears thy way;
Wait thou His time;
so shall this night
Soon end in joyous day.

Still heavy is thy heart?
Still sinks thy spirit down?
Cast off the world,
let fear depart
Bid every care be gone.

What though Thou rulest not;
Yet heaven, and earth,
and hell
proclaim, God sitteth on the throne, And ruleth all things well.

And whatsoe’er Thou will’st,
Thou dost, O King of kings;
What Thine unerring wisdom chose,
Thy power to being brings.

Leave to His sovereign sway
To choose and to command;
So shalt thou, wondering,
own that way,
How wise, how strong this hand.

Far, far above thy thought,
His counsel shall appear,
When fully He the work
hath wrought,
That caused thy needless fear.

Thou seest our weakness, Lord;
Our hearts are known to Thee;
O lift Thou up the sinking hand,
Confirm the feeble knee!

Let us in life, in death,
Thy steadfast truth declare,
And publish with our latest breath
Thy love and guardian care.

Praying for you and your family!

Blessings,
Jen

I found descriptions on the new Iraqi Dinar notes on www.iraqi-dinar-exchange.com. The equipment shown on the front of the front of the 250 Dinar note is an astrolabe, used in astronomy, astrology, and navigation. The building on the back of the note is the Spiral Minaret in Samarra, built 848-849 A.D. I found it interesting because that building is what I usually see in classical pictures of the Tower of Babel.

As for the 25,000 Dinar note, I don't know about a horse's head, but there are two white horses facing each other on the bottom part of the bill, on either side of where it says "Twenty Five Thousand Dinars". The king shown on the back is King Hammurabi, "who wrote the first code of law in human history and founded the First Dynasty of Babylon in 1700 BC, leading Babylonia into a period of great prosperity."

I checked out some of the links on that "New Iraq Currency" website, and found some news that somehow was missed by the MSM: Iraqi Inflation Falls to Lowest in 17 years, and Iraq Oil output "highest in years".

I've been wondering how this debacle was turning out:

Critics Cost Muslim Educator Her Dream School

This is that Arab-language school that opened in New York City last September. It ran into problems for a number of reasons, partly related to a reporter deliberately misquoting the principal, partly because newspapers and other organizations couldn't get a list of textbooks to be used by the school, and partly because when the Anti-Defamation League started lending their support to the principal, a lot of her Arab support disappeared (since they didn't want anything to do with a Zionist organization.)

They write that Psalm 83 needs to take place before the Ez 38-39 events kick in.

Psalm 83 has countries surrounding Israel gathering to attack her. Israel wins, gains more land, is living at peace.

Afterwards the Russian-Iranian events take place.

Morning, Jim!
Thanks for the Downey article. I watched him on Letterman earlier this week and he made no bones about his change of perspective in recent years. I didn't get that he had become a Christian (I was wondering if your article would mention that, but it didn't get into religion). I found one of the comments at the bottom particularly helpful, though. It compares the US to the Roman Empire and how it crumbled from within. I've long felt that our complacency will be the driving force behind our decline. I don't think many people today would know what to do if they had to work like our grandparents and great-grandparents did. I would hope they could find the strength and set aside the things that have made them comfortable, but I'm not sure it's there anymore. I always wondered what culture overcame the Romans and the article said it was the Germans who had been the slave force for the Romans and eventually had enough influence/power to negotiate surrender to the German invasion.

Donna, glad you enjoyed the lyrics. It was either that one or "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." I figured you might already be familiar with that one, so this could be some new meat to chew on. I've found myself in the last year going back into the old hymnals and reading the lyrics alot. Of course, as a child, I had many songs memorized, but I wasn't mature enough to really digest them. Now, it's a sort of comfort to re-hear those words with an adult understanding and it's also a great way to get into the Word because they are often rooted in Scripture.

Quick update from our home...
after my talk with hubby about tithing, he agreed to pursue the issue further and we had a time of prayer last night with tithing/finances as a main subject. I copied all the discussions we had here along with John's post at his blog and shared them. He asked that we continue to pray over it so his heart can get in line with Scripture and that I be patient while he deals with these feelings and struggles about giving more while in the middle of an income downturn.
I said I'd be more than happy to do that :-)

Well, gotta start the day. Kids'
3rd birthday is Sat. and I need to get the house ready for guests.

Blessings,
Jen

I wonder sometimes what the consequences will be for believers who haven't been attentive to the times. It's one of the things that drives me....do we simply get to fly away and live happily ever after? Or are we first allowed to see what our lack of attention caused for those who don't join the Lord when He comes for his bride? That would make a good Bible study topic.

I appreciated the last part of that link on Downey because it spoke about people not vaccinating their kids. I do agree that the program could be revamped-lets face it the more shots one gets at a time increases the likelihood that something bad is going to happen. Recent court case not withstanding there is no empiric evidence that vaccines cause autism. While I don't completely rule out a link circumstantial evidence doesn't always mean that a link exists. (as an example for quite sometime-likely well over 50 years and maybe closer to 100 years we've been telling people with diverticulosis not to eat things with seeds, nuts and popcorn figuring that such things getting caught in the tics were the cause of problems. After all a rather substantial number of people come in saying the pain started after nuts and popcorn, must be right? wrong. we now know from actually doing the research that not eating enough fiber and not drinking enough water causes hard stool to get stuck in them and that causes the infection-identical to appendicitis. go figure. I tell my patients if it hurts don't eat it but that they don't have to otherwise exclude stuff)

what most people fail to realize is that nearly every disease we vaccinate against
1-is due to a viral illness for which antibiotics don't work
2-some of them were significant killers in their day or a source of significant disability. I took care of someone in an iron lung once as a medical assistant while in college and I can't begin to describe just how awful awful it was. I had heard of iron lungs before but had never actually seen one nor had I ever realized just what using an iron lung meant. It was a horrific eye opening experience for me. Even now with all my knowledge and experience in sends cold chills down my spine. We always talk about the fact that pandemics will come in the last days and talk about bird flu etc but at the rate we're going it could be something like smallpox (which has disappeared from Russian control-they had some left in a beaker somewhere and now no one knows where it is or didn't when the story broke within the last couple years), or something considered by many to be "not so bad" like measles or polio. They'd do well to read up on the amount of havoc these diseases caused and why the development of vaccines was heralded as world changing.

enough soap box for one day.

Sorry Jen,

I think the Birthday party popped into my mind as I hear many Mom's talk about them when I'm at own kids weekly activities.

I personally plan a party for my kids just like everyone else.

(We already have a pony in the back yard-so I cheat!)

But you know what I mean.

What has recently come into my mind re: the Rapture.

Do all Christians just get an overall blanket rapture? Ready or not here I come?

What if it were the only ones truly watching? (That thought is frightening)

My guess would be the Christains who have had their hearts prepared & ready for Christ will be his bride. I suppose looking or not.

But-the Brides who were looking will be given more responsibility in the work He has planned for them to do in the future since they were found responsible.

Of course I don't know the answer-it's just a thought that comes from the 10 wise & foolish virgins parable.

Lisa

jib said...

wow Lisa
that is kind of a scary point you make. I shall have to ponder that but I would have to believe that everyone who is truly a Christian will be going because God doesn't seem to want His children in harm's way. Do you suppose that Noah was faithful and believed the whole time it took to build the ark? I have seen estimates that it likely took several decades to build the ark.

as for bday parties-hah. we had several at our house when our son was younger but had an epiphany at someone else's bday party. If you go to Peter Piper (like Chuckie Cheese except better pizza)-they clean up the place before and after, do all the cooking etc. you just have to show up! one of the docs I work with had a bday party for his son that was way over the top-people dressed like Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader with a HUGE jumping house.

Late Night Lisa said...

Jib,

I know what you mean. It scares me to even have my mind go there.

I agree. Anyone who is truly a Christian.

So to God- Who is truly a Christian? One who puts His will above themselves and honestly seeks to be Chrsit like.

Or-can it also be someone who believes that Jesus is God's son and came as a ransom for our sins?
But that's about it. They try to be nice people and go to chuch on Sundays.

I guess we won't know where the line is drawn until it's drawn.

The feeling I have in my gut is a little unsettling.(but what do I know? probably nothing)

It seems to me that many are being challenged and refined by fire (so to speak) in order to be prepared when Christ comes for his Bride.

In my case it was as if God said:

Ok Lisa, that's enough. I'm going to change your life so drastically that your going to come back to Me. I'm going to do it at just the right time so that your ready when I come back. (And I feel like an ignoramuse for not seeking Him sooner. Without having to force the cards.Maybe one of these days I'll stop kicking myself in the kiester.)

If my life had not been changed-(through my Husband's circumstances I might add) Honestly, I may have wandered around in a haze and completely missed the boat. (On the other hand, my husband admitted the other day he's mad at God for what has happened. I'm thrilled about our stressful life events but I can't tell him that.I have told him in the past why I thought it happened though.)

I thank Jehovah constantly that we went though these unpleasant turn of events. Before this happened the "seed" was planted though a lady I befriended. We are now still in the middle of unsettling times and guess what? Hubby is still digging in his heels.

So the question remains. How prepared & refined does the Bride have to be?

We know some saints will be awarded "crowns". Will that be the only difference? Everyone is accepted "as is" but some get a crown?

Or will the "Lukewarms" have to remain in order to become more "refined"?

Jib, Shalom! I hadn't read that far in the article (I had picked up the link from a Catholic web site) so I hadn't gotten to the part about vaccinations. I agree with you whole-heartedly. My oldest sister had a mild case of polio. Thank G_D the only permanent effect is that one of her legs is maybe a quarter-inch shorter than the other. My dad treated one of the last cases of tetanus in Iowa, back before I was born. The patient was blessedly lucky on two counts: 1) there was a polio outbreak in the town at the time, and the other doctors assumed it was polio, and 2) by chance my dad knew there were tetanus spores on that farm. It took about three weeks of treatment, but the boy pulled through. Being the son of a doctor who lived through the epidemics, etc. (his mother died during the Spanish Flu Pandemic) I know any risks associated with the vaccines are more than outweighed by the safety benefits.

I also went and had my daughters (at least the two older ones -- will get the youngest in the next year or so) that HPV vaccine. I know some people don't want to do that because they're afraid of the message that will send. My take is somewhat different: in America, there is a one-in-three chance that a woman will be raped in her lifetime. Since rapists aren't known for using condoms, I want to make sure that if that should happen to my daughters they won't be infected by the rapist. (I like the solution by the father in "CSI:NY" last night. Sure it was wrong, but I'd be pushing for community service instead of jail time.)

Alesia, Shalom! You wrote:

And I'll bet you're still going like an energizer bunny, aren't you!

About the "1 in 3" statistic... It's a statistic, so you need to be aware of the definitions: I used the word "raped" instead of "sexually assaulted." The first word has a more visceral reaction; the second phrase allows for a lot of wiggle room. "Sexual assault" can include behaviors as different as rape with penetration, forced oral sex, attempted rape, and groping. If you're talking about relations between an adult and a minor, then simply kissing can be treated legally as a sexual assult. Lump all these behaviors together over an average 80-year life span, and you come close to the "1 in 3" statistic.

I also use this figure because it makes people think. If you're a woman and you think of yourself, your mother, and your grandmother, and you're not a rape survivor, then that means there's a good chance that your mother or your grandmother was raped. If you protest, and say that it can't be that high, it must be "only" 1-in-5 or maybe 1-in-7 chance, are those statistics any better? All it means is that instead of thinking of just your mother and grandmother, you have to include your sisters, or your sisters and all of your aunts, and recognize that one of those people has been or will be raped. Does that make you feel safer?

What's really eye-opening is when you're talking about this with a group of teen-aged boys, and they have to personalize their behavior, picturing it as happening to someone in their own family.

Would someone tell me what they think of all this?

"ANGELS" & the FLORIDA HEALING REVIVAL - Warning!-by Andrew Strom. I continue to get emails about last week's article - "A FALSEHEALING REVIVAL?" Some people strongly agree, while othersare totally outraged that I would question the healings or othermanifestations that are occurring. Personally I am deeply saddened that I even have to put out thesewarnings. I get no pleasure out of it. In fact I hate having to talkabout this stuff. But what happens if something is seriously amissand yet no warnings are given? Is it right to be silent in such a case? What about the precious sheep? Shouldn't they be warned? What a lot of people may not realize is that the leader of the revivalTodd Bentley has a long history in the "Laughing/ Drunkenness"movement - but also is a leading proponent of strange "Angel"encounters (and I do mean 'strange'). Todd has openly promotedthese encounters for years - in fact he is well-known for leading others into contact with these 'angels' too. This has been a big part of his ministry for a very long time. And it is really no different now. Here are a couple of extracts from Todd's 2003 article 'Angelic Hosts': "So when I need a financial breakthrough I don't just pray and ask God for my financial breakthrough. I go into intercession and become a partner with the angels by petitioning the Father for the angels that are assigned to getting me money: "Father, give me the angels in heaven right now that are assigned to get me money and wealth. And let those angels be released on my behalf. Let them go into the four corners of the earth and gather me money." Todd continues..."EMMA, ANGEL Of The PROPHETICNow let me talk about an angelic experience with Emma. Twice Bob Jones asked me about this angel that was in Kansas City in 1980: "Todd, have you ever seen the angel by the name of Emma?" He asked me as if he expected that this angel was appearing to me. Surprised, I said, "Bob, who is Emma?" He told me that Emma was the angel that helped birth and start the whole prophetic movement in Kansas City in the 1980s. She was a mothering-type angel that helped nurture the prophetic as it broke out. Within a few weeks of Bob asking me about Emma, I was in a service in Beulah, North Dakota. "In the middle of the service I was in conversation with Ivan and another person when in walks Emma. As I stared at the angel with open eyes, the Lord said, "Here's Emma." I'm not kidding. She floated a couple of inches off the floor. It was almost like Kathryn Khulman in those old videos when she wore a white dressand looked like she was gliding across the platform. Emma appeared beautiful and young - about 22 years old - but she was old at the same time. She seemed to carry the wisdom, virtue and grace of Proverbs 31 on her life. She glided into the room, emitting brilliant light and colors. Emma carried these bags and began pulling gold out of them. Then, as she walked up and down the aisles of thechurch, she began putting gold dust on people... Within three weeks of that visitation, the church had given me the biggest offering I had ever received to that point in my ministry. Thousands of dollars! Thousands!... During this visitation the pastor's wife (it was an AOG church) got totally whacked by the Holy Ghost - she began running around barking like a dog or squawking like a chicken as a powerful prophetic spirit came on her. Also, as this prophetic anointing came on her, she started getting phone numbers ofcomplete strangers and calling them up on the telephone and prophesying over them... Then angels started showing up in the church." [END QUOTE] More recently, Todd stated that in one of his "Third Heaven" trips he literally visited the small cabin where the apostle Paul lives in Heaven. Paul told him that he wrote the book of Hebrews with the personal help of Abraham the Patriarch: “The authorship isn’t clear because it was Abraham and I; Abraham shared the content with me.” Todd's 'Third Heaven' tales are full of such astonishing claims - and of course, more angels. (See 'A Face To Face Encounter - Part 2 of 2' - By Todd Bentley). Lest anyone think that Todd may have changed his ways in recent times, you should know that he is constantly mentioning his'angels' in the current Florida meetings also. For instance, watch from about the 6-minute mark of the following video clip-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9mSCHJfnGE In this video, Todd speaks of the angel that is going to "visit the children" and then he begins more and more to jerk and laugh uncontrollably. He prays that a 'drunken glory' will move across the whole place - and you can see it happen in the audience. This is all the same kind of stuff that Todd has been involved infor years. There is nothing new in it. In fact, both Todd and Bob Jones credit an angel that carries the "Winds of Change" for the current healing revival - an angel that they say is still driving it. As one young preacher commented who has been following the Florida meetings closely, Todd seems to talk about his "healing angel" even more than he talks about Jesus. Yes - exactly! We are warned explicitly in Scripture that the devil "transformshimself into an angel of light", and that in the Last Days will come'Lying signs and wonders' that will "deceive if possible the veryelect." Do we really believe that the devil is unable to performmiracles? Have we forgotten what the Bible clearly says? Some make the point that Todd obviously had a strong healinggift right from the start of his ministry - so some of the healingsin Florida may be genuinely from God. Yes - I agree that this ispossible - even likely. But how can we trust anything at allcoming from this source if it has become so tainted with all thispollution? Do we want such a man laying hands on us andimparting "anointings" or spirits into us? I read a report from the UK yesterday that an English preacherhas brought Todd's anointing back from Florida and now it is manifesting in his UK meetings: "Fire, a burning sensation, was felt all over people’s bodies... There were outbursts of joy, drunkenness and spontaneous healings throughout the meeting." Other reports from the USA now speak of pastors having hands layed on them to receive the "Florida anointing". The Elijah List claims that on New Year's Eve, for 2008, God told Bob Jones that "the third wave was coming." Todd asked Bob what the third wave was. He said that, "Toronto was wave #1, Pensacola was wave #2, and the third wave is the "Winds ofChange" -- this move of God. This move will be a global move, traveling with signs and wonders all over the world! The third wave is here!" The Florida meetings have now moved into an 8000-seatauditorium. This "anointing" is spreading across the globe. Canyou see why I have cause for alarm, my friends? URGENT - Please FORWARD THIS TO OTHERS. Send feedback to- prophetic@revivalschool.com God bless you all. Andrew Strom.

Re Todd Bentley, makes a good stage show but I don't see how that honors God or brings the Gospel message. Seems He uses the angel thing to make his ministry sound more credible. To me it is less.

Gal 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

Sound like another gospel. I have seen similar on TBN.

Myan Calander Crop Circle

I viewed a few of these crop circles in Mexico. It's really quite interesting.

Some crop circles I'm sure are fake but I doubt all are.(I think they are from demonic sources)

The really stunning thing about these are the Myan Calander. They are telling us that the year 2012-(2012-rings a bell-doesn't it?) Will be a time of world change. Also that the oceans will rise and flood out costal areas.

Alien Face

Crescent moon with cross

I think the one above says a messiah is coming in 2012.

So how about this. If the Blitz calander is correct and the Trib ends Sept 28th, 2005- back this up 3 1/2 years when the Anti-Christ desecrates the temple. That could then be in 2012.

Ok, so should I check myself into the looney bin now or wait awhile?

It is more deception. In most of the videos they are saying that something important is being communicated. In another it says they must decipher the message to reach a "higher conciseness". All this is giving conformation to ideas that were channeled thru demons. I think it becomes obvious as you look at the whole picture. It just keeps everyones interest on new age stuff. The messages are becoming more bold as we are nearing Jesus' return.

"More recently, it sounds like Eckhart Tolle's A NEW EARTH: AWAKENING TO YOUR LIFE'S PURPOSE (2005) promoted by Oprah's Book Club. He asserts that all of those expressing the certainty that 'I am right and you are wrong' are a 'dangerous thing in religions.' It reflects a 'collective mental illness.' Tolle characterizes 'sin' as simply 'missing the point' of human existence and suggests that 'Eastern wisdom teachings' allow us to 'let go of dogmas' and 'rigid belief systems.' He also relates that in THE HOLY BIBLE 'a new heaven' actually refers to 'the emergence of a transformed state of human consciousness.' Note again the terms 'mental illness' and 'transformed.'"

Lisa,

The article about Christian Horizons mentions that they receive funding from the Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services - a government organization.

In Canada (and I think in the US?), if you receive government funding you are no longer protected by the law as far as requiring your employees to maintain a Christian lifestyle. Any Christian organization that receives money from the government can no longer make requirements on its employees that they follow a specific lifestyle, nor can they make any kind of faith based declarations that appear to be hateful to any other segment of society.

Notably, in Canada the Human Rights commissions seem to be targeting Christians - you NEVER see them targeting militant Islamists ot other non-Christian groups, let alone gays.

Although this article was written in 94 about the Toranto Laughing Church it still does apply in 08.

Toranto
I guess these "angels" did not appear at that time.

It is very insightful how the demonic influence can creep into the Church.

This movement has been preaching that a great "Revival" would happen. Rather we know what the Bible says is a great "Apostasy" would happen.

And we are right in the midst of it.

Can you even begin to imagine how bad this is going to become?

I really would not be suprised if when the Anti- Christ appears-he brings some of his demonic space alien buddies down to be teachers of this "higher conscience" new age thought.

Just this Vineyard Church ordeal is getting more bizarro all the time.

False "signs and wonders" are goin on.

Hi all,
Re: Christian institutions receiving federal funds....

I attended Grove City College, a small Christian school in western PA which was involved in a landmark Supreme Court case in the 80s along the same lines. Students at the college and the college itself received federal funding (federal loans, grants etc.) previous to that case. The college was taken to court on a complaint about their Title IX adherance (equality of gender in how sporting programs were administered, funded. The complaint said the college wasn't giving women's sports the same attention, etc.)

The College was in danger of losing all federal monies unless they agreed to implement the Title IX regs. The College argued that they were a private insitution and not subject to those oversights (notably, there never was a complaint by a student athlete made and during my years there, the women's sports were always more successful than the men's programs anyway!)

The College worried that things would start with Title IX and go from there into all aspects of what the institution stood for...we had required chapel attendance and core courses in religion, etc. So they took the leap and decided to drop all federal funding and turn to private funding sources.

I remember not being able to apply to several of the big federal grant programs for tuition which made things a little difficult, but the costs were kept low, so we weren't faced with outrageous fees like some other colleges at the time.

I think the Lord has been faithful to the College as a result because it continues to have VERY low tuition costs while at the same time constantly upgrading its facilities and staff. Hubby and I don't even recognize campus anymore because of all the new buildings, etc. and GCC is always near the top on the Forbes' rankings, etc. I would whole-heartedly recommend it to anyone interested in attending a Christian college.

I can't imagine what a leap of faith it would have taken for the board to make that decision! We're having a hard time leaping with our personal finances, but to do it knowing how many students, staff, personnel, etc. depended on the college for their income and education.....

Blessings,
Jen

Good one today...

The heart affects everything

Above all else, guard your heart, for it affects everything you do.
Proverbs 4:23 NLT

Let us learn to cast our hearts into God.
Bernard of Clairvaux

Guard the inside

If you're typical, you think of guarding your heart in terms of keeping things out. Corruption, false ideas, temptations—all are to be held at arm's length, never to be allowed in the inner depths of your affections. But there's another side to this vigilance. We are to keep things in. In fact, if we can master that, the corruptions and temptations will often take care of themselves.

Think about it: The things that can assail a heart from the outside are innumerable, far too overwhelming to manage. But the things we are told to keep within—the spirit of Jesus, the humility and gentleness, the servanthood and sacrifice, the worship and thankfulness—these are one Spirit. Most religions tell us to avoid the bad; God tells us to embrace Him. We are better equipped to focus on His character than on the enemy's devices. Nowhere are we told to live against the sinful nature and hope that the Spirit will show up. We're told to live by the Spirit and expect the sinful nature to have no power. We often get confused about that.

Too many Christians guard the way into their hearts to keep things out. That may be appropriate at times, but try a different approach. Guard the way out. Stand at the inside of the gate, and be careful about what may be leaving. Once in a while, we get a life-altering glimpse of true worship. By all means, keep it in! From time to time, we'll see a picture of true servanthood. Don't let that picture go! Hold on to these things! Treasuring the wellspring that God has birthed in your heart will leave little rom for those corruptions you once obsessed over. And the wellspring is a much more pleasant preoccupation.

JIB, thanks for those links. I found them very interesting and cannot help but wonder what is facing us down the next curve in the USA. John is right about the funds from government sources putting all churches at risk of the same thing here in the USA.

ANNE, oh my dear! GT gave you sound advice. I have seen this man live in a little town in our area and I left the services because of the "crazies" going on. Feathers started coming down all over the place and hysteria took over. This is not of God! God did not tell us to glorify angels and as you know, the apostle Paul warned specifically about doing so.

Here is a link to further information from Strom and I post the link because I feel it is important to understand what and where this man stands in faith and practice.

http://crash.ihug.co.nz/~revival/leaving2.html

However, you need to study the man's past history too. So, my final take on the whole thing is simple. What angels sent gold dust down from heaven when Jesus was here or for that matter, did they lose any feathers that floated down in the epistles? NO! Should it be happening now! NO!

If anyone here needs some gold dust, I will send you the powder that I have in plentiful supply from my arts and crafts days. It won't buy you anything but if you just have to have the dust, it is yours for the asking.

Anne, Shalom!

RE: your post of 5:34 PM, Todd Bentley's angels, I think Mr. Bentley is in SERIOUS spiritual danger! As you may or may not know, Catholics believe in "guardian angels" -- an angel that G_D assigns to each person at birth, to guide and protect them through life, especially through childhood. It's a belief that's more than folk tradition, but less than doctrine: you don't have to believe in guardian angels, but it's definitely part of Catholic culture.

There was recently a discussion on Catholic Answers titled "Can asking your angel what his name is be dangerous?" The consensus was that while it MAY be OK to give your guardian angel a nickname (keeping it respectful), you should NEVER ask your guardian angel his or her name. Several people on the thread warned against doing things like that. One person wrote, "Been there, done that, I will never ever again, boy I learned the hard way on that one. Avoid this practice at all cost, you are not communicating with your guardian angel at all. Heed my advice here, I speak from experience, you have opened a door that now needs to be closed."

The thing to remember when dealing with angels ("Do not neglect to show hospitality, for by this means men have entertained angels unawares." Hebrews 13:2) is that these are creatures who are G_D's messengers; who deal with G_D face-to-face. They are neither pets nor servants (at least not YOUR servant!) You need to treat them with the greatest of respect. They already have names, names given to them by G_D. While you may give your guardian angel a nickname, it is not for you to know their true name, and it is not for you to be GIVEN their true name. (Except, of course, for the angelic names noted in the Bible, such as Gabriel or Michael. These are renderings into human speech of names that exist in the angelic tounge.) If Todd Bentley was told by his "angelic presence" that her name is "Emma", I am certain that this creature might be an angel, but not an angel of G_D.

Grany,

I was wondering about you today & the Tornados.

There was a lightening storm over our house today right when I was suppose to pick my daughter up from school.

I was reading some biblical things on the computer when -Crack-overhead and then it shuts off.

I thought. Trust in God. I'll be brave.

So I got into my car said a prayer and backed out of the garage. Then my two jack rusells start following me down the driveway. (scared) Then I have to get out and shew them into the garage. No sooner than I do that - a lighting bolt appears from the ground up about 50 yards away right in front of me.

I then decide I'm really a chicken and go into the garage. Since my car is still running I have to muster up my courage and go turn it off. Then inside I find out the phones are dead and it takes to additional trips out to the car to find my cell phone.

Computer didn't work. No TV. So I figured praying might be a good idea. So there I am sitting on the bedroom floor calling my two dogs chicken livers which are pressed up on either side of me.

So who is really the Chicken? MWA!

So you actually saw these feathers floating down?

Jib, Shalom! About the Christian organization in Canada, the Catholic Church has had to deal with stuff like this for years. Just after 9/11, I remember reading something about the State of New York taking Catholic Charities off the list of accepted and recognized charities that can be used to provide social services, because it had a policy of not hiring gays for certain positions. Note that CC never discriminated against anyone in administering these charities to the needy; it only had a hiring ban where it came into conflict with Catholic teachings. And here is a link to an article from 2006 talking about how the state is clamping down on religious organizations that oppose gay marriage. The case in question has to do the Catholic Charities of Boston, which had its license for providing adoption services revoked because it would not place children with gay couples. The article goes on to describe how state licensure and tax-exempt status are two sticks that can and will be used to force religious and religious-based organizations to provide support for gay marriage. This threat is credible, she explains, because to be recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, an organization must have purposes and activities that do not violate fundamental "public policy," a concept that neither the Supreme Court nor the IRS has fully defined. ... Generally speaking the scholars most opposed to gay marriage were somewhat less likely than others to foresee large conflicts ahead--perhaps because they tended to find it "inconceivable," as Doug Kmiec of Pepperdine law school put it, that "a successful analogy will be drawn in the public mind between irrational, and morally repugnant, racial discrimination and the rational, and at least morally debatable, differentiation of traditional and same-sex marriage." ... By contrast, the scholars who favor gay marriage found it relatively easy to foresee looming legal pressures on faith-based organizations opposed to gay marriage, perhaps because many of these scholars live in social and intellectual circles where the shift Kmiec regards as inconceivable has already happened.

G_D help us all.

This is a very POWERFUL video about true Revivals. It's long but watch it through.

I am having a deep sense that the path to be "The Bride of Christ" is much more narrow than Christians realize.

This has come to mind quite recently and I don't know if any of you have had the same thought.

REVIVAL

A true Revival leads to Conviction and Repentance not one's "Experience or Feelings." Some of these Old timers on this video share what it was like.

Great Grany 5 said...

Lisa, you hit the nail on the head and I am going to watch the video now. I remember when Revival meant something besides loud music, lots of cars, publicity and hand bills telling that there was going to be a Revival. Like we can orchestrate a move of God on our own with much whooping and hollering. Revival changes lives permanently; that means forever. You will even go so far as to remember the exact date and who was there. But most of all, a true revival convicts us of our own sin nature and the redeeming work that Christ accomplished for us, filthy as we are. Then he takes into a clamp on relationship with our heavenly Father and his son, Jesus Christ.

Short Story.

I made a new friend here in TN. She goes to a Baptist Church down the street in which she is very much involved with.

She was the only person to truly reach out to me when she found out I was new in town.

She has three childen and a husband who travels alot like mine.

I called her the other day and asked her to come over to talk about some Biblical things.

We had recently attended her Church for their annual "Children's Day."

So she came today and I shared with her the Ezekiel 38/39 prophesy and gave her the latest link on that Mark Blitz presentation.

She looked at my bookself and saw the row of Biblical books and said that her bookshelf looked the same but was filled with books on parenting.

I gave her the Epicenter book to read and she said she could get to it by the summer. I mentioned that was great but I hope there will still be time enough to read it if she waits.

I'm sure I may have freaked her out a little.(She handled it well) But what is the alternative? These Churches are sleeping.

She is a wonderful lady. I really like her alot. She's active in her Church. But I'm wondering where is the fist love? Is it Christ or is it her Kids?

Maybe what we really DO need are more of these Hellfire/Brimstone preachers.

It is the Holy Spirit who does the work in our hearts to create the desire to give up ourselves and follow Christ. It's certainly not by our own will or doing.

So what's the problem? How come the Holy Spirit is not reaching the full potential? Is he knocking but the door is just cracked opened? Only a sliver of light can shine through?

Why are these people going to Church but have not died unto themselves?

Time is getting short. We can't mess around anymore.

I hate to sound off on this topic but I'm really concerned.

This is not a "popular" discussion I'm sure but what if these people are left behind?

Any thoughts here?

Great Grany 5 said...

Lisa, yes lots of thoughts.

I just finished watching the video you posted and I have to tell you, that took me back so many years ago to a childhood of God Fearing believers and dedicated lives to glorifying God. Yes! The pulpits are pits that have served the world and put Heaven dressing on it. Just watching the video gave me such a burning desire to truly serve to glorify instead of insurance for heaven.

God tells us that judgment will begin, at His command, and it will begin with the House of God. His pouring out of the Holy Spirit will ignite a fire that will burn hotter and hotter, deeper and deeper until all of the filthy ideas, habits and beliefs are burned away and only the true Gospel will survive.

Some people see the church as going out in a cast down despair. I don't see it that way at all. How would that glorify God and after all, that is what this is all about. We are saved to Glorify God and instead we try to glorify one another. It is wrong and we basically know it.

God will get us right but in the meantime, there are people dying and going to hell because we are afraid to speak up and share with them the God of all our purposes. You asked why the watered down is accepted by people who say they are Christians? Well, mostly because the mainline churches quit preaching the word of God and initiated man's programs. The bible was just Heaven Insurance and the premium the people were willing to pay was cheap. Why? Because Fire and brimstone preaching was considered radical.

Have you ever attended a football game and not become radical when someone was about to get tackled 2 yards from the goal line? Radical! That is a word that is used for unacceptable behavior or belief. Jesus was radical too and he paid a radical price for our salvation. Great price to the Father and Son!

If you want to know how big God is, look outside and look up!

Love,
Grany

Anne, this isn't anything new and yes it is part of the delusion. I just call it part of the party. Some people want to bring their party mentality into the church and they have done a smashing good job of it too. I wonder if God looks on it any differently than he did on the people who demanded a golden calf image be made out of the gold that came out of Egypt. They danced and carried on around that golden image until Moses came down and destroyed their party.

But I kinda feel that this sort of thing is pretty obvious to most believers if they truly are being led by the Holy Spirit. It is a well known fact that the spirit of Jezebel is running rampant in the church today.

We didn't get anything out of the storms as they were a little too far north but my daughter's neck of the woods is close to where the fatalities occurred. They went to Utah/Nevada for a week on business so they have no idea what has or hasn't taken place at home.

A 15 year old girl was killed in Siloam Springs, AR as she was sleeping in the only place that was destroyed by a huge tree that blew over on their home. I watched the local news teams coverage of the whole area and it was so sad. Her 10 year old brother was asleep in the same room and was only slightly injured. Don't you know that boy is going to have a tough time for a while. Please keep him in your prayers. I will find out his name as soon as it is released.

Also, my only grand daughter owns a home in North Kansas City and the tornado ripped up her big oak tree in her back yard, splintered their dog house and yet the rest the property was not damaged. The tree was only 20 feet from the rear of the house. This is the third time that a twister has narrowly missed her house. I think she should be finding another place to live real soon.

Well, people please excuse me for the night. I am so sleepy and this is not the usual thing for me. I love late night reading, blogging and just goofing off. Not tonight.
