Donna, thanks for your honesty. I first want to say that I know you did not mean to offend any of us Republicans personally and I take no offense. I'm grateful for the relationship we have because there is so much bitterness between the parties right now.
I'm irritated with big oil, too, and don't know what the answer is. Do you mind if I copy part of your comment and ask some of my more knowledgeable friends? I would only take generic parts which would preserve your personal info. Obviously, not even your first name.
I agree with Lori's comments about working so hard and having to pay so much and then seeing it go to those who won't do their share. But I think there is more to your question. Why isn't it "trickling down" faster? (That term was from the Reagan era, and the money did trickle down and raise everyone's boats, but I think someone else can address that better than me.)
When people talk about a flat tax, I think they are recommending about 10%, and those who are very poor still won't pay anything.
Greed, of course, doesn't follow party lines. We have a non-profit which cares for the medical needs of the poor in Africa and currently need to raise $1 million. You would be surprised how many wealthy Democrats we know who give our organization glowing praise while holding tightly to their purses.

Shalom, all! One of the problems with using "trickle down" today is that the market has changed completely since Regan's days. In the past, there was a tight linkage between labor and management -- they may not have lived in the same parts of town, but they were usually in close proximity. What affected one eventually affected the other.
Now with "globalization" and "off-shore outsourcing" that link has been broken. The rich person may buy a car or a boat, but instead of "trickling down", the money just trickles out

Other points of interest: The town of West SALEM is also mentioned in the reporting as is Chicago. I can think of 2 well-known personalities from Chicago who have been stirring up alot of anti-God talk recently...1 is going the New Age route and the other has a history of speech against Israel.

Lisa, that is just what I thought when I read the article about Brian McLaren (is that his name, the emergent church guy?). Turning away from the eternal and focusing instead on helping the poor and needy. OF COURSE, we need to help the poor and needy, but we do it in obedience to Jesus and as a response to His love for us. This Shift stuff seems to be moving in the direction of earning our way into heaven. IMHO.

Oh, Grany, fried chicken, the way my mother used to make it. Been so long, I'm not sure I remember how! Mmmmm. Mashed potatoes, too?

I'm not on the Core Plan. Core Plan was too much like the plan I was on before, which worked but not very consistently. I'm counting points because I need someone to tell me just what I can and cannot eat. The two ways I know of fixing rice with mushroom is to make the rice using Cream of Mushroom soup, throwing an extra can of mushrooms into the mix to add to the liquid. It's really good when baked, and really blows the number of WW points off the chart! The other (healthier) way is to cook some mushrooms in a little olive oil or canola oil (I always use the canola/vegetable mix -- still gets me my omega-3s and tastes better to me), adding whatever spices you have a hankering for, then pour the cooked mushrooms into hot cooked white rice and stir.
As for the chicken, depending on the weather I either cook it in the microwave or broil it, again with the right spices. In truth, for Christmas I bought a pressure cooker for myself. I usually wind up putting whatever meat I'm cooking into it, along with a couple of cans of tomatoes, chopped onion, sliced green pepper, carrots, mushrooms, garlic, pepper, spice de jour, and let it cook for half an hour or so. All the vegetables count as 0 points (except for the carrots, but a half bag of cooked carrots is only 1 point -- big whoop). Throw a medium potato (3 points) in the microwave for a few minutes; spoon the vegetables over the potato, measure out the meat, and I've got meals for a few days.
I also got a cheap blender and made something called "sofrito", which is a base for Caribbean food. I used that this weekend with a pork roast in the pressure cooker, along with some Rotelle, canned tomatoes, and the last part of a jar of salsa. The only problem is that I put in three heaping tablespoons and probably should only have put in two -- it packs quite a kick if you're not careful.

ANNE, I always have wonderful real mashed Yukon Gold potatoes with cheddar and roasted garlic. I cut out the gravy because Hubby can't have the milk products. Then I go for the shoepeg corn (frozen) and run some carrots in the micro until just tender. That way they stay sweet and really goes good with the other dishes. I throw in some homemade potato hot rolls and we have dinner. I love to top it off with a fresh fruit salad desert and then we can purrrrrr like kitty cat.
I am making myself very hungry. Gotta go get some ingredients.

I have to force myself to eat anything fried. (although I have to admit it's pretty good)

There is a market nearby where this Friday's special is Frog legs and Catfish. (I told the girls we're going for the frog legs and the 6yr old is flipping out. Yet she'll eat octopus sushi)

Lisa, well some of your things are OK but Sushi, isn't that fish that someone forgot to cook? Just joshing you. I enjoyed the California diet when my husband and I were there for a vacation but we were glad to get back to cow country and I will say, Florida has the best tasting chicken from all of the other states. It still tastes like chicken. Don't like Tyson's idea of true chicken.
Now, Donna, I know that things are going to get a little tough and touch and go for a while. But I believe that is why so many of us have felt the unction to put some food and daily needs beyond what we normally have on hand.
My daughter is in the Food Service business sector and she tells me that it is getting very tight out in the restaurants and prices on her company have leaped. Her buyers are having to increase the menu prices and the customers are complaining and cutting back.
I believe we have only seen the tip of the ice berg but I do know that we have survived through this sort of situation before and came out fine. God still has his protection around us and we will never beg bread. Says so in the Word of God. So, don't let fear in! I know I have said this before but it is very important that you dwell on the promises of God and not the problem. I spent so many years with the problems and the fears that came with them and my faith was so weak I couldn't even pray. All I could do was groan and cry. One day, I was listening to a young preacher in a blue polyester leisure suit telling about the fear that had seized him on his trip to speak at the church he was in. He just got physically sick and was in a complete loss because his car kept breaking down and he was going to be late. As he sat along the highway, a man in an older car than his stopped to help him and asked what was making him so ill. The young preacher told the man that he only had 10 cents left after all the break downs and now his car was junk. How was he going to get to the church and how was he going to bet back to Texas where he lived.
The man told him he would take him to the church, knew all about it, and that God would provide all that this young man needed and to quit worrying. At the services that night he received a tremendous offering which the pastor gave to him and blessed. Then the same old man came up and put a set of keys in his hand and said this will get you back home. That young preacher knew the car that brought him on to the church was really old and he just knew it wouldn't make it all the way. The young man went out, rather reluctantly, and what was setting in the space for visitor ministers was a brand new chevy. The old man had asked the local car dealer if he had something for the young preacher to take back home and the old man would pay for it. But the dealer had been under conviction about his life style and knew that the Lord wanted him to help the preacher more than with an old clunker. In the process, the dealer got saved, the old man got blessed for caring and the young preacher has gone on to be one of the most positive believers I have ever known. True story!
So just leave it all in God's hands and it will work out alright. When doubt starts coming at you, grab your Bible and read what God's word tells you about faith, trust, waiting and above all, his great love for us all.
Love you, and yes, I am still praying. That man who owes is not going to get any rest until he pays every cent he owes. God hears our petitions and our agreements.

Nate, you said something about watching God provide. Well, I think we are in the middle of seeing that take place here.
I have been praying non stop and if things move forward the way they appear to be moving, it will unmistakenly show God's hand at work and will be quite a testimony.
We have a couple of things going on, and all at once things seemed to get messed up at the same time...now things seem to be turning around at the same time....and the glory will all be His.
I've been praying out loud at times in front of my husband and one kid who is still at home. I read somewhere that He likes to hear our voices....and He sure has heard mine lately.

YES!!!! I'm not sure about the end is near sign, unless God speaks audibly to me while I'm standing on my left leg with my right arm in the air. But if we're in fellowship with God. We will hear from him in other ways and I'm sure that God will use us in contructive ways.

I think we have to ask God to show us our opportunities that are before us, whether it is to pray for someone in a store, or to invite a neighbor to church.
I wonder sometimes how many opportunities I'm missing with my "busy-ness" or self absorbed attitude.

I've been tweeking my Left Behind packets/letters a bit so they are updated with the latest info I've learned/gathered since I first typed they up about 6 months ago. No strong urgency, just a feeling that I could add more helpful stuff now.
Speaking of being attentive to the Spirit, I made a blunder this weekend. I had planned to take my daughter out for some "mommy" time and wanted to go to a flea market I like to visit a few times a year. It's over 1/2 hour away and I had other errands to run, but I insisted that I go to it anyway. As soon as we left the driveway, I felt that I shouldn't drive that far but should look for a closer yardsale to check out. Sure enough, 2 big flea markets were taking place close to home but I insisted in my mind that the further away one would be the best to visit so onward I drove. I ended up finding nothing and got home emptyhanded, but in my heart I knew Holy Spirit was nudging me to one of those sales for some reason and I didn't obey. Could I have found the piece of furniture I've been hunting? Or more importantly, did I miss the opportunity to share God's love with someone I would have encountered? I'll never know, but I did learn a lesson in submission and making the choice to follow the Spirit when He puts those calls in my heart. It was a bit humbling because it showed me that I'm not as ready to follow as I sometimes think. It was kinda of a "Peter" moment for me.

Good God's Day to all of you and I hope the weather and the love are Son bright and balmy. We are being warned that severe storms are in store for us but I just put a "Closed" sign on our storm store. It is already very warm and the birds are absolutely thrilled with God and praising him in total abandon.
Lisa, I have always felt that one reason we are not seeing the increase of believers like we used to is because we don't share outside the "church walls". There shouldn't be walls if we are the Church and yes, we should be sharing what is actually happening right now with the unbelievers. Back in the days of the crusades and tent revivals, miracles were happening everytime a group of people got together and prayed. There were a lot of believers who were the recipients of the miracles. God uses miracles to demonstrate his Glory and his Love in the affairs of men everywhere. The miracle of our salvation is a wonderful story to share with the believers but what about the teen ager who is bent on self destruction. I have learned over the years that what they want most is to know that some one Loves them and wants them! We are accepted by God because of His Son, Jesus Christ. Ezekiel 38 and 39 will be a demonstration of that Love and devotion he has for the Basket of Apples he has chosen to bless. It is alright for God to correct them but the world had better keep their mitts off of the Apples of God's eye.
I say shout it from the roof tops and let all men, women, children know that God is still God and things are coming to a new age and this life is going to be changing forever and ever. If you don't warn them, well, you read what Lori posted and you know the responsibility of the anointing to tell.
Jen, you are learning and the proof was in your non productive trip. Besides not finding what you were searching for, you spent all of that money on gas! Now that you have acknowledged your error, the Holy Spirit will indeed lead you to what you are searching for and have fun in doing it.
LORI, I am so relieved that you are doing better. I been praying but I couldn't get a message to you by Email because Gmail had the flu. Or I should say, my computer got hit and it was my email account that I couldn't access AGAIN! By the way, one of the transgressions against my computer came from one of the links to YouTube that I just had to click on. As soon as I hit on it the whole thing with downloading was wrong. I ended up working from my laptop (still not happy with it) and typing on it is more delete and backspace to make corrections.
If any of you sent me an Email or posted on my blog site, my email didn't get the message to me and I do apologize for it. Green Aliens be cursed!

I just came back from my daughter's Gym class. Since I'm now in the "Bible Belt" I do feel surrounded by Christians. (Unlike California)Her gym is even Christian and they pray before they begin the fun stuff.
There is one lady in particular that wears a cross necklace and I see reading Christian books on occasion. I brought my Bible to read last week and brought it today. I'm somewhat the outcast in these mom groups because I'm new and from CA.But I try to chime in at times as I'm not naturally a big talker.(Unless I get started on God's word)
She had made a comment about my Bible and how difficult it is to concentrate w/kids.I then asked her what she's studying and brings up she has a Bible study at her house and showed me the book they are going through now on God's Will for your life.
I told her my main area of interest was in Biblical Prophesy and how it seems that we are watching Ezekiel 38 and 39 unfold.
I asked her if she was interested in that type of thing and her eyes lit up.
She had heard some things Ezekiel but didn't know much. So I recommended her to google it and look at Joel Rosenburg's site.
I gave her some background re:Joel R. and told her if she had any questions to ask me next week. She's now excited to do some research and report back.

The only thing I've tried to look at on utube is the "obama jedi." It was only 1 min 33 sec but took nearly 30 minutes to load, but then again, I'm on dial up.
I wish I could figure out my system. I tried doing a restore to WEds of last week. I also updated I.expl. and my virus scan. I have to imagine it must be a problem with a setting somewhere. I have another account for my writing, but I can get into it with no problems.

I have a question. I have been wracking?sp? my brain for the name of a children's book written by a man named Jonathan and it is about a cripple boy/lamb? and "journey" is in the title. Anyone got any ideas on the book that I am talking about. I know when I see the name I will kick myself in the rear, but for the life of me, I can't think of it!

Lori, I know the You Tube thing was about Obama but I don't remember what it was on. I do know that it took forever to load, I got a funny feeling about that fact since I am on DSL and I stopped the download. I cleared my personal data, cleared the cache and retried. The same thing again and yet when I downloaded the link that Mac put up, it worked fine. It was on a different topic though. I use Firefox browser all of the time but at the time this happened I didn't have it designated as default browser. Mine kept coming back that they couldn't find my gmail server. You should have seen the mess of messages I had piled sky high when I did get back on. My security also shut me off of the youtube link I had been trying to access. Trend Micro does that and it is nice but they at least could tell you why. In the meantime, I had some pretty important mail I was expecting and they sent it back to the sender. That is when it is nice to have the internet fax set up.
We are getting to technical for our own good. Now they are talking about a whole new way of communicating that will make the internet look like a turtle race. I don't know enough about it yet to describe what is going on but keep your eyes posted. It is supposed to be a really, really, really fast hook up and can be used on the big screens in various locations in our homes. Sounds like Hal Lindsay's book "Late Great Planet Earth".
I do know that someone did find a way to bypass the special signature security that Gmail had set up. I wish they would let me have a few minutes with the gigaboo's who think it is such fun to destroy other peoples computers and connection.
Well, I am going to go pet my feline friend. She is a little afraid of the storms and only wants to set on anyone's lap for protection.

Lori, Shalom! You mentioned your virus checker; have you gotten a spyware/adware checker? Something like "Ad-aware 2007" from Lavasoft or "Spybot Search and Destroy"? You could be free of viruses (viri?) but still have a lot of spyware, which would slow your system down and might interfere with Gmail (since it's browser based.)
An alternative is to load and use Firefox by Mozilla as your browser.

dibdabdeb, I think the one you are speaking about is by Max Lucado and it is titled "The Crippled Lamb". It is about a little boy who is crippled and is ashamed and discouraged. He lives in the time period of baby Jesus birth and the story is beautiful. I have used it in my Encouragement Classes for handicapped children. We used to be able to say that without condemnation. You would be surprised how effective that story is with adults too.

If you are still having Internet Explorer issues and you think you may have a malware problem (virus, trojan, spyware, etc.), you can get your computer scanned for all these things for free online by Trend Micro here:

The scan can take a couple of hours or so, but it does a really good job and it is free.
I used to run Trend Micro's Pc cillion on my computer, but every new release of their software became more and more bloated and really slowed my PC down.
So...I removed it and installed the free version of AVG. There is very little overhead from running AVG, so it won't slow your system down. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of Trend, Norton and the other virus scanners you pay a lot of money for. It also doesn't check for spyware.
To get around this, you can every now and then get your system scanned by Trend Micro Housecall or run Adaware or Spybot like Jim suggested. I guess the plus side of using Trend Micro Housecall is that you don't have to install anything on your system to get it scanned for spyware etc..

Since many have had a "food shortage" feeling it seems to make sense to me. He had some revelation about this.
The final straw that unites Russia,Iran,and others in the war of Gog and Magog is a major food crisis. That is what will "Hook the Jaw" so to speak.
Israel produces more food than it needs and exports tons. It also has massive underground aquifers.
We should expect to see earthquakes,drought,strange weather,possibly astrological signs..
We get rice here that is grown in the south eastern part of Arkansas and it is very good and very clean. The Jasmine rice is especially wonderful tasting and my husbands cousin has family that produce the rice. She has said that the demand for the grain is at an all time high and the price is going through the roof. Well, we have about 50 pounds of the Jasmine rice right now that is still sealed and has been keep in our cooler. If we sold this rice right now we would be making at least a 1000% markup. Now that sounds great but we paid practically nothing for it just this past winter. I keep it sealed until I am ready to cook it, and although it is a lot of smaller packages, it doesn't get wasted.
You could survive on rice and beans very easily. Also, peanut butter is fantastic in a whole lot of other ways besides on bread with jelly. Getting dehydrated foods and sealing them is also another practical way of storing necessary food stuff. Sam's club sells some of the best instant potatoes made by Idahoan and comes in a 3 1/4 pound box that looks like a giant milk carton. In fact, Wal-Mart carries the same companies instant potatoes in smaller packages (family size serving) and has different types of spuds and ingredients. All you have to add is boiling water and I add just a smidgen of milk to increase calcium. They taste great and I normally HATE instant anything.
Did you know that you can use instant potatoes in making breads, rolls, casseroles and a zillion other great tasting dishes? Grits are another commodity that you can dress up and make great nourishing dishes with. Also, egg beaters are a source of moisture in cooking besides being a stand alone food. So, we can survive but we will have to be flexible.
Now why on earth did I get on that subject? Anyway, things are coming into focus and the more they do, the more prepared we have to be.
I like the segment that Perry Stone did on the 11th Hour too Lisa. His teaching that he did on Joe Van Koevering (I can't remember the name of the ministry) was very good and I will search it out and post the link. So is the archive on the past conference they had. There is so much to watch and listen to on the net that there is no excuse for anyone not knowing what is taking place.

Grany, Shalom! I went and bought a big bag of rice from the local Oriental food store a couple of months ago. I could have gotten a couple of big bags from Wal-Mart for the same price, but I haven't been that pleased with the quality, so I was happy to spend the extra money and get what people who eat it every day like to buy.
As for instant mashed potatoes, I get the Wal-Mart brand, which has been good enough for me. I'll try getting the Idahoan brand and see if I like them better. The instant mashed potato flakes make a good coating on chicken. I'm going to try using them to make chicken strips next time I have my daughters down here.

I did figure it out though It is called "Jonathan's Journey" by Katherine Bell and it is a wonderful story about little severely crippled boy whose family loves him dearly. They sing to him and talk to him. One day a voice spoke to him and it was Jesus. Jesus took him on a Journey through time in his new body. If you can get this book it is absolutely wonderful! A book about Redemption!
BTW, What was the story on the book called, "The Shack"?

If I remember correctly, the 'Jesus' who speaks in The Shack explains that He is really a She, among other issues that clearly jump over the Scriptural-inerrancy line. (Please let me know, anyone, if that is incorrect. I didn't check it before I posted, but I think my memory is on target this morning.)
Also, Grany, forgot to mention yesterday that the super-internet you mentioned was highlighted a few weeks ago on Fox. They explained it as a system large and fast enough to make home PCs obsolete. It has the storage capacity and speed to allow users to store ALL their data on it and not at their home computers. People can access it anywhere in the world, thus eliminating the problem of carrying laptops/flashdrives, etc. with them on business, etc. And it's not if or when....it's ready now. Nice thought, but do I want all my personal data stored alongside the rest of the world's while I trust that no one can find a way into it? My mom who still handwrites all her coorespondence -and if she's feeling frisky will type a letter - is looking more and more sane these days! LOL!

The "May 15 Prophecy" is from the Last Day Watchers blogspot (http://lastdaywatchers.blogspot.com/). The blogger (leondavis3@gmail.com) claims to be a prophet and issued a prophecy on May 15, 2007 that he insists is coming true. Almost all his postings since then have been devoted to expanding on and proving the truth of this May 15 prophecy. Here is that prophecy in its entirety:

On Sept. 14, he printed his "May 15th Prophecy Addendum, The Time Of The Herald". It's too long to copy and paste here; you can read it at the link. It basically says that everything that was prophesied on May 15 has been accurate so far; he uses "Thus Saith The Lord" at least once when he says "Not a single nuclear weapon will be used during the Great Tribulation", and he says that he is the only prophet who specified which 3 nations would be uprooted. Except the May 15th prophecy DOESN'T list which 3 would be uprooted; he says it will be 3 out of a list of 6.
In short, I believe he is a false prophet. There is nothing modest about him; I find his descriptions of the fulfillments of his own prophecies to be boastful, and if anyone should have an analysis (Joel has never said he was a prophet) that differs from what he believes then that person is a false prophet.
He also has a YouTube account, LastDayWatchers.tv, where there are some really odd things. For one, he says he is an American, yet this YouTube page is hosted on YouTube in Hong Kong (hk.youtube.com). This means it uses a lot of Chinese characters in it that show up as question marks. The Chinese language encoding is Taiwanese (zh-TW), and the only way I found to read the page was by Googling for it, then asking Google to translate it.
I'd say stay as far away from him as possible.

Back to the Perry site- He says the US(eagle symbol) is a reflection in history of what happened to the Roman Empire(eagle symbol).
Rome was not overtaken by an outside force but was corrupted from the inside out.
They got involved in 3 areas-Borders,Wars,and Civil uprisings.
Their debt became too great because of these factors & they had to do something.
What they did was tax the rich to trickle down to the poor.
They had to tax the rich so much that the rich could no longer pay these taxes.(Why should they work so hard if their lifestyle was not any better than the average citizen.It got so expensive that about 400 Senators did not have any children.)
Rome then started a government welfare system.
So in the end the Romans had three choices: They could stay on welfare, move to the outskirts and raise their own food, or join the Army.
He feels the US is on the "edge" of this same pattern.
Seems about right to me.

Wow, I spoke with my (step) mother earlier today and had to tell you about this conversation.
First as a reminder...she has been a new ager type...has even gone to mediums to try to talk to the dead and some other things like that.
(Its amazing how many people go to mediums..it has become very commonplace.)
Anyway, she told me she had been praying...which was a shock in itself...for someone who had died ( I did have the heart to tell her that praying for the dead was not something that needed to be done), and just as she was praying for that person, the person's father called.
She was really taken aback by the whole thing.
I basically told her that there is a lot of evidence that what the Bible says is true...and she said "yes, I know"!
It really is a complete turnaround.
It's really shocking! Very different from anything she has ever said in the past about the Bible being a dusty old book, etc.
I can't wait to see where all of this goes!
Please continue praying for our family situation, and for all family situations, our family members and loved ones, and for anyone else that He will continue revealing Himself and bringing them to Him.

I, too, found the May 15th blog this morning and was planning to reply to your query with one word: addled! Jim does a much better job explaining and synthesizing the content. I did notice many inconsistencies in the guy's writing and at one point, he quoted God from Scripture but inserted current names in place of the text...ie. "And God said John McCain..." He's definitely not American/native English speaker either. Doesn't use the 3rd person 's' on his present tense verbs (ie. he say, she go) which is a common problem with ESL folks. So I agree he's probably from China or nearby. Sad thing is, somebody has probably found his blog and is reading it with expectation. Last fall, I came across a woman's blog about her visions about the rapture and she seemed so sincere. She said that several years ago, she had been given a vision in which her family was swimming in their pool and they were suddenly raptured. She knew the year was 2007 and so she started the blog to spread the word that by the end of 2007 we would be gone. She lived in FL and said they use their pool til Oct. so she knew it had to be before then. When 2008 came, I wonder how she felt and how it affected her faith. She had obviously spent ALOT of time invested in spreading her vision to others. She said her pastor warned her about setting dates, even general ones, but she was sure.

That bit about "the Pyramids of Giza and Stars" has to do with a line of thought that says the Pyramid at Giza was built by Noah before the Flood, and contains many prophetic clues to future events and the end times. If you enter the phrase "great pyramid biblical prophecy" into Google, you get a whole slew of web sites. In particular, you'll read about "The Christ Angle". To quote the "Signs of the End 2006-2017" web site,
The Christ angle is roughly 26.3 degrees or more precisely 26 degrees, 18 minutes, and 9 seconds. It is the angle of the ascending and descending passageways inside the Great Pyramid. It is called such because this angle if taken north of east from the Great Pyramid will bisect Bethlehem.

The last book I read thought the Pyramids were likely built by the Nephallim or Demonic something or others.
It mentioned how the angles lined up,stars,constellations,moon etc... and that a normal human would not have that type "secret" knowledge. There are "giant" egyption type creatures depicted on the walls as well.
It goes onto say that the shape may represent a copy of something in heaven.

That was a very nice final letter and did sound sincere.
From what I also gather now from the other prophesy scholars is that we are about to come upon the time of a "latter rain" of the Holy Spirit.
So her comment of "FIRST A GREAT OUTPOURING OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD." seems accurate.
I can personally relate to that since about three weeks ago if someone told me I was going to speak in tounges I would never have believed it.
I have scheduled a personal meeting @ my Church. It's going to be w/one of the Pastor's assistants so this will be an interesting exchange.

Nate, Shalom! May 10 this year is 5 Iyyar, or Israel Independence Day, the beginning of the 60th year of Israel. June 2 is 28 Iyyar, Yom Yerushalayim (Unification of Jerusalem). This year it's the end of the 40th year of the Unification of Jerusalem (aka, the end of the time of the Gentiles.)
So, yeah, I think something's going to happen between May 10 and June 2. (Because of the Sabbath, observance of Independence Day has been moved to May 8. I don't know when Bush will be in Jerusalem, the 8th or the 10th.)

Thanks for posting that letter, GT. She was brave and sincere in writing it. This is a valuable lesson to all of us about date setting etc. God does have His own agenda. No matter how bad it might look at any stage, God can certainly tweak things so the world has more time and more people may be saved. I’ve seen too many preachers and teachers make statements about Christ’s coming (and Daniel’s 70th week) that has come back to haunt them. This is still going on and it does nothing to help the prognosticators when the events don’t happen.

My friend told me about something that happened two weeks ago in Lake Worth Florida, just about 5 miles from my house.
Her friend called her and told her that there were some strange lights in the sky and she could see them from her house. So Susan went outside and couldn't see them. She got into her car to drive to her friend's house. When she got there, she noticed the lights and a large group of people outside pointing, taking pictures and the like.
They watched the lights for a long time as they zipped back and forth across the sky.
Susan called her son, a saavy photographer who came with his equipment. He got there and he too saw the lights.
After getting off several shots and zooming in, he discovered the source of the mystery lights....
Someone had contructed a large kit with l.e.d. lights and a really long string, long enough to not be detected by the naked eye.

The red lights that were sighted out west a few days ago (I forget the state at the moment) were found to be created by a guy who tied flares to helium balloons and sent them up. They were visible for a few hours and then they disappeared, once the flares burned up. Clever.

Dear Oprah,
I remember when you first launched your daily talk program throughout the country. My wife and I have watched with amazement as it has grown. I know you have been gratified by its broad acceptance and popularity.
My wife Betty and I have been praying for you since Gene Self (my former staff member and close friend of Stedman's) began to tell me about the relationship you had with his friend. On numerous occasions I thought we were going to be able to get together and just talk based on comments Stedman made to my associate. This never occurred, but we have watched your television programs and especially the talk format grow until they have worldwide impact.
Betty and I also host a daily television program, LIFE Today (www.lifetoday.org), which airs around the world. I also founded the ministry of Life Outreach International. With the help of countless supporters, Betty and I have been sharing the life and love of God in word and deed in the U.S. and abroad. We focus heavily on Africa, feeding more than 400,000 children each month and drilling hundreds of fresh water wells.
I am writing out of a sincere love and concern for you. I have heard some comments recently, visited the "New Earth" and witnessed the influence of Eckhart Tolle. Some of your statements concerning your beliefs and the direction you are going actually brought tears to my wife's eyes. She was stunned to hear your views of Jesus Christ, eternity and the Bible.
You are a true example of the opportunity and success that America offers people who have had difficult challenges. I can relate, because I am the product of a forced sexual relationship on a 40-year-old woman. As a child, I spent time in a foster home, then with my birth mother and a stepfather who could not read or write. Later, my violent, alcoholic father came back into the picture. It ended when I pointed a gun at him in self-defense as he threatened to kill me. By the grace of God, I did not have to pull the trigger. A couple of years later, I committed my life to Christ and God changed me, established my life, and gave me a future. My wife Betty and I recently celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary. We have three children and 11 grandchildren.
We have witnessed the vast influence you have been afforded. There is no question that you sincerely care about people. Your outreach in Africa and your personal response to the suffering you have seen reveals your genuine interest in the well-being of others. I believe you truly care about others.
You have become popular because you shared your own challenges, your own questions and your own failures. You have shared your battle with weight and tried to help people improve their own health. Anything that helped you, you passed on. I appreciate that. I sense that you believe in God and want the best for all His people.
What breaks my heart is that somehow we, as Christians, have failed to effectively communicate the greatness of our God to you. I cannot express how much I want you to fully experience the grace that God freely shares through Jesus Christ, as well as the supernatural enabling He provides "to live appropriately and victoriously in the now," as you eloquently put it.
We both know that life can be difficult, but God Almighty has provided a helper through the person of His Holy Spirit to walk through the valleys and also enable us to experience success without our gain becoming idolatrous addiction. He offers us the very things that you claim to be discovering in a mind-boggling journey wrapped in New Age philosophy and relativism. The Apostle Paul warned against the human tendency to justify ungodly ideas by "changing the truth of God into a lie" and allowing our own appetites and desires to control us rather than the proven principles of the Bible.
Here is my great concern. You have obviously seen good Christians whom you admire, such as CeCe Winans and Nicole C. Mullen. I know both of these wonderful women and I am sure they shared the reality of a personal and deep relationship with Jesus Christ. But where have we, as Christians, either in our prayer life or in our example failed to connect with you and inspire you so you could see Jesus as He really is? Many have seen limited portraits of God, such as the extreme suffering depicted in Mel Gibson's The Passion of Christ. But you may not have been able to see the power of the comment Jesus made to his mother when he fell beneath the weight of the cross in that movie. He commented, "Mother, I came to make all things new."
Oprah, He is the one who enables us to rightly live in the now. Only Jesus Christ can free us from past problems, present pressures and future pursuits that can become idols. Rather, we look back on the past, thank God for the lessons we have learned, trust Him for grace to deal with painful experiences, and provide present abiding power to count it all joy when we face temptation and trials, knowing that He will walk with us not only in the presence of our enemies and accusers, but even through the valley of the shadow of death. He is our ever-present spiritual and personal Shepherd. Think about this: He said it was necessary to leave and send "another of the same kind" -- the Holy Spirit, His Spirit living in us in order for us to live life fully and freely.
Surely you have seen the reality of this eternal truth. The fact is He not only covers the past and provides for the present, but He also promises to secure our future. We are, in fact, eternal beings. We are not creatures of the day. It breaks my heart to hear you say that a sentence from your pastor concerning God being a jealous God caused you to reconsider your entire belief system. You misunderstood what the pastor intended and the reality of God's jealousy. He is not jealous of us, He is jealous for us in the sense that He does not want to see anything foolishly captivate us and take us as prisoners. God does not want you to miss the supernatural fulfillment that He freely offers. It is like a wife being jealous not because her husband associates with other women, but because she knows that he might be captivated by a false relationship and taken away from his first love and his family. Godly jealousy is an expression of love and concern for our best interests -- not a petty human emotion of fear, but concern that we might miss the very essence of life.
Oprah, you are gifted. You have been so blessed and I know you recognize and appreciate it. I believe that you want to share the best you can discover with others. But Oprah, can I encourage you to please sit down and go a little deeper and discover something that will also truly enable your friend Eckhart Tolle and others caught up in his teaching to see that God has given us Himself in the person of Jesus Christ, who not only lived and died, but now through the power of His Spirit is available to live in us if we open ourselves to His indwelling presence? This is not mere religion, it is relationship with the living God and an unconditional love for others.
You are an honest seeker and sincere in your desire to help others. Please give us as Christians another chance to clearly communicate the matchless, amazing grace of our great God and give Jesus, the One who has never in any way failed, the opportunity to become the fullness of life for you and those you care about. He will enable you to deal with the past, live fully and meaningfully in the now, and secure your future, so that whatever challenges may come, you will have a Friend and Father who never leaves or forsakes you.
As believers, Betty and I are praying for you and encouraging every person with faith in Jesus Christ to lift you up in loving prayer before the Lord. You are a special person and it is my prayer that you not miss anything God has to offer. I pray that your journey will inspire all of us to examine our lives and become more consistent, compassionate, effective witnesses for Christ. Perhaps each of us as Christians should feel some weight of responsibility for not more effectively demonstrating the great message of hope found in Christ. Those who have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ will never be disappointed in Him.

Hello all,
I have an urgent prayer request that just came up.
My brother-in-law's girlfriend called within the hour on the verge of tears. She confided in me that she had suffered a miscarriage in the last few days. She and my BIL have dated for over 5 years and recently moved in together. They were both doing things to avoid pregnancy, but that obviously didn't work. She is distraught and I offered to be a support, knowing what she's been through, albeit in different circumstances. My BIL apparently is taking a different approach and not a very Biblical one at that. Just yesterday I prayed for their relationship to get back on track with their faith - they were both raised in solid Christian homes. God is working on that request faster than I expected and I feel that I now am in a place to be a source of comfort and encouragement for them. Sharon is coming up this afternoon so we can talk. I covet your prayers for them and me as I shine His light into this sad & dark situation.

I'm coming out of the closet. I don't know if you remember awhile ago I asked you who you thought were good prophesy scholars?
I never told you the reason. It was because I woke up that morning and felt a heavy burdon to write Oprah.
It was very strong and I was wondering if I was just going cookoo. So time passed and I was trying to think of how I would approach her. I had that jealousy remark and other spritual issues swirling around w/what I really wanted to challange her with. The main point being Biblical Prophesy.
That love letter Campsmore posted is fantastic and addressed all those extra issues.
So now I went ahead and did it. The studio has been emailed this letter:
I spend quite a bit of time studying eschatology (prophetic Christian end time events)
There seems to be an overwhelming feeling in the air that the world is about to change.
I realize you are promoting your own ideas about this through Eckhart Tolle-
but wouldn't it be fascinating to possibly also view this through the lens of the Bible?
We feel that prophetic events are unfolding "RIGHT NOW" in regards to a Biblical Prophesy in Ezekiel 38 & 39.
Many "Christians" are afraid to delve into this area or are just not taught about end time prophetic events.So if you ask the "average" Christian they probably will not have much to say.
There are others and many great Christian prophesy scholars who are tracking this particular prophesy and other prophesies soon to pass on a daily basis. These events are tracked Politically, Economically & Socially.
So would it not be interesting to share this information even though people may or may not agree or believe it?
At least if what the Christian prophesy scholars reveal do come to pass (of course I have no doubts) then at least you may consider what has been predicted to follow next.
In addition to Christian eschatology I also study the Jewish and the Muslim end time beliefs since they all tie in together.
(This may also be interesting but I would not get the three together all at once (Jewish, Christian, & Muslim) as it would turn into a fruitless experience and debate.But separately, yes)
I am in no way recommending that I would like to come and present this prophesy information myself. There are other people much more qualified.

If I had started in with any negative connotation of their "new age" ideas- I think it may be an instant "shut down."
My thoughts are: Lisa your nuts. There are so many other people who write in they won't even look at it.Someone else has probably written the same thing.Why waste your time and feel stupid? Your just a nobody approaching Oprah. They won't even consider this because she's too far gone in Eckhart.

Also, if enough of these Someones get enough letters like this, gentle and polite, then that's the kind of information that gets trickled up to the producers. So the sower scatters the seed; we'll have to see which ones take root.

Urgent prayers are needed for Patricia. But let me share what is happening with her story, Jo just got off the phone with her and her said I could share with you all. As some of you know she is raising her granddaughter, Ciallo. Valerie, the mother is now fighting for custody and it is getting ugly. Valerie has had all 3 of her children taken away by court order because she is an unfit mother. I will save the details for a later date if you are interested. Valerie has presented the courts with many untrue affidavits by many of her friends, also under evil influence. Patricia prayed this morning and cried, One hour after getting off the phone with Jo this AM Patricia went to Radio Shack and a woman there noticed her Mary Medallion that she got in New Orleans at the Church. The woman asked her about it and where she got it, Patricia could not remember that she got it in LA so said St. Augustine. The woman wanted one exactly like it. Patricia said they had some similar at the church in St.Aug. but the woman said it would not be like Patricia's. A voice was telling Patricia to give it to her but Pat was fighting it. The discussion went on. The woman kinda looked like a gypsy and Pat was a little leery, but the woman kept insisting she wanted the necklace of Mary, and that voice in Pat's head kept saying give it to her, even though it had great sentimental value for Jonathan (husband) and Patricia. The woman told Pat that her brother had died and that she was taking care of her own sister-in-law and things were really bad and that she really wanted to have one of those necklaces! So Pat finally said ," would you like mine?" The woman said," you would give me yours?" So Pat took off the necklace and gave it to the woman. The woman then showed her a ring on her finger that was an exact replica of the necklace that was her brother's!!! Patricia said to the woman, "now with this necklace comes a deed... do you see that beautiful little girl over there? (pointing to Ciallo) She needs prayers of protection because she is under attack." The woman stopped everything she was doing in the store, called her friend and they all started praying as a group in the middle of Radio Shack! While they were praying, Pat's phone kept ringing and she kept hanging it up because of the prayer, the phone call was Pat's son Alan,(Ciallo's dad) trying to tell Pat that he had just received a crucial phone call for the GOOD about the case just as Pat handed over the necklace! Is Our GOD awesome or what!!! Please keep this family in your prayers, that GOD keeps Ciallo with the only family she knows. Patricia has had her since she was 11 months old, and she just turned 4 Valerie keeps missing the court supervised visits.

it seems the feds have changed the way certain paperwork has to be done to get paid. the billing company insists they are doing right and the feds say they aren't. consequently
I haven't been paid for services rendered in over a month from Medicare. We think we finally have the data to support our contention to the billing company that they are submitting my data wrong-we'll see.
pray that it gets resolved quickly since they could refuse to pay claiming we didn't submit the bills in a timely fashion and it also takes about 3-4 weeks after a bill is submitted to start getting the checks. ugh

I have noted all of the prayer requests and will be praying for each of you. I have been working on my computer trying to get the bugs out of my email and found out that the settings were changed by an outside person/persons to use my machine as a zombie type mailing source. My setup is wireless and someone has gained access to my computer and hijacked it and also made it impossible for me to send anything. This has turned into a major situation and I have brand new security in place beyond the normal home type available on the retail market. What a mess!
I have always been very careful and security conscious to the point of installing a site advisor from McAfee. Now, I turn everything off and unplug all of it from any plug in at night when I am finished. No wires going out and none coming in.
LORI, that's me at 508. What you up to girl? I miss getting to yak at you all on my mail account and I will get this thing taken care off or take an axe to the whole mess.

Great article. The Church has been deceived and lied to once again. Of course the enemy doesn't want us to think we can still use the gifts of the Spririt. That would rescue some souls from his grasp.
I have to tell you when you can open your mouth and speak in tongues at any moment-it sure makes you aware of the Spirits presense at every moment of the day. (I may blank out a little bit -but nothing like before.)
So far that's the only gift I have or have used. If some of you ask-who knows which gift/or gifts will be granted.

I really covet your prayers and know that even if I do not post, that I read what you all write everyday and pray for the other requests made. You all do not know me well I realize, but I need to tell you some things going on because I need your prayers.
The last 3 weeks of our lives have been plagued by so many difficulties. I know that God is truly in control but I am wondering if this is just an attack by the enemy to discourage us.
My husband works for a man that we now believe in bi-polar. One minute he praises him and hands him cash bonuses and yet, last week he almost fired my husband. He tirades and cusses him out on a regular basis.
My husband is the hardest working guy I know. They have laid off or cut back most of his crew and he is having to be manager and worker all together. He is trying to look for another job in all of this. He left a job of 20 plus years to take this one over 2 years ago and it has been a nightmare.
He woke me up at 4 am yesterday and told me he is just afraid that he is going to have a nervous breakdown at work and snap.
We have a 17 year old daughter who is a very sensitive teenager and has really been going through things. She usually struggles at the end of the school year so I checked her grades and found out she is flunking all of her major classes.
I had a round table meeting with all of her teachers yesterday and they concluded that all of the drops started about March 18th. She is terribly far behind and I do not know if she has the motivataion to catch up.
She is so overwhelmed. Her math class is an integrated class with algebra, trig and caluculus. She can bearly do beginning algebra so I do not know how she will get through this. I was told it is a state requirement for her to pass the class (no child left behind act). I question that and will be talking to her counselor again today.
She is very prone to depression and anxiety and is in the depth of depression right now. She is feeling so hopeless right now that lastnight I laid in bed and asked God to protect her from suicide. I would like to say that school is the worst of her worries but it is not.
She confessed to me Monday that she and her boyfriend have been "kinda" sexually involved and that her period was late. I bought a pregnancy test which showed negative. I do not know how accurate it is but she has still not started her period.
I am overwhelmed with grief that she is going through this. It was an opportunity to talk about reaping and sowing and why God warns us against sex before marriage.
Her boyfriend lives quite a ways away from us so it is kind of a long distance relationship, which I was hoping would be a good buffer. Guess not. He has been really distant the last few weeks and I think he was attempting to break up with her lastnight. It was not a good evening.
We have worked really hard over the last 6 months to get out of debt and are getting close. I have even been able to start tithing. In the last 3 weeks the washer broke ($125), I had a physical and the insurance company has applied almost all of the charges to my deductable so I have almost $600 in doctor bills. Last but not least, last week the dog tripped on the stairs and sprained her foot. (Vet bill $113)Her leg wrap is off yet she is still hopping around on 3 legs. I do not have it in the budget to take her back to the vet.
On top of all of this another heartbreaking thing that has happened during all of this is that I am realizing how my dear friend and leader of the women's groups at my church is totally unaware of the apostacy in the church right now.
She throughly admires Rick Warren and refuses to look at the New Age and Emergent church leaders and philosphies he is aligning himself with.
And the Rapture? I am practically being labeled as a heretic. As a matter of fact it was suggested that maybe I need a break from leading the small group of women on Thursday night at our church. I have felt that push out ever since we had some endtime conversations and she radically opposed what I was telling her was my view. Lastnight was my last night teaching.
She quit reading Epicenter and told me that she was just going to stick to what Hank Hanegraaf was teaching.
What is going on here? I am feeling such a temptation to fear what the next day brings. I pray that God would hide us all under the shadow of His wings. I am also thinking going to anoint my doors and windows with oil and pray thoughout my house this morning before I go to work.
My apologies for the long post. Please, any advice and I especially need you to pray.

Mac - wonderful article. I need to print that and share it. Further support for what Paul teaches. Not many people (including myself) take time to read the writings from the early church. There must be a wealth of insight there.
Lori - agreeing for your deliverance and restoration. You've stirred something up to get this attack, but what peace to know that you're on the winning team!
Grace - my heart aches for the struggles you've shared and I want to thank you for doing that. We can be so much more effective in prayers when we know exactly what to ask for and what to focus on.
My husband had a bipolar boss a few years ago and it was agonizing to watch him dread going to work each day, not knowing which personality he would have to deal with. I also have an aunt with those symptoms and she has ruined her family and many other lives in the process.
Alesia - Jacob's light therapy begins next week. He's really showing symptoms of the GVHD taking over (losing mobility in his limbs) so I've been praying fervently for those attacks to be repelled and his healing to arrive now. Wanted you to know.
I'll update my prayer list with these new requests and will look forward with GREAT anticipation to hear how the Lord is resolving each issue to bring us the blessings He has promised and more glory to His name!
BTW, I was able to spend time with Sharon yesterday although my MIL now knows as well. That didn't go over well at all and it would have been better if they could have been kept out of it, at least for a while. But God knows what is needed to bring growth in this situation, so I'm not getting flustered by that fact. I was able to comfort and minister to Sharon and share some important reminders about God's love for her as well as her baby. Please continue to pray for them (Sharon/Dave) as this will in essence force them to confront issues they've been ignoring up til now.

I'm sorry that you are going through all that at one time. Please know I am praying for you & your family.
I, too, am having the same issues with my daughter re: depression, bad grades, suicidal thoughts. She's very religious but has gotten violent with me recently when I mention praying or anything to do with God.
I've actually started a prayer request for her numerous times but when I go there, I get derailed by everyone else's requests! So, please all, pray for my Michelle, as well!

Jib - Praying that everything works out for you financially. My sister is going through the same thing. It's gotta be tough for people who own their own businesses, you have all these expenses & MUST get income coming in regularly to stay afloat.

On a separate note it would be nice if Medicare didn't put through the proposed 10% cut in reimbursement this summer. Unlike every other business in the country doctors do not get to pass on their costs of doing business.

Alesia, I found just the thing to give you on your last statement.
In the New Testament, the two main teachings about anxiety are found in Matthew 6:25-34 and Philippians 4:6-7. The first reference is from what we call the Sermon on the Mount. There Jesus says to his hearers, “For this reason I say to you, do not be anxious for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink, nor for your body, as to what you shall put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?” In Philippians 4:6 we read these words from the Apostle Paul: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
Obviously, the counsel of the Scripture is “Don’t be anxious; don’t worry.” But we must understand that this is not saying that we are NEVER to worry. In the Greek language, in which the New Testament was written, when the verb is in the present tense it means CONTINUOUS action. So, what these passages are really saying is: “Do not be CONTINUALLY anxious....” and “Don’t CONTINUALLY be anxious about anything….” So, we have to conclude that it is not un-Christian to worry from time to time; but if we worry all the time, being constantly in a state of anxiety, then we really do have to wonder about our position as a Christian.
It is human to worry. Actually, that is another result of the fall of man into sin. Since we are sinners, and will never reach a state of perfection in this life, in the flesh, even though we are born again, it is impossible not to worry at least occasionally.
But, we believe that this is not God’s will for us, and that it is unnecessary for a Christian to be a “worry wart.” So, let’s look back to that passage from Matthew 6 and find the reasons why we don’t need to worry and shouldn’t worry.
1. We don’t need to worry. God is perfectly capable of supplying everything we need. If He takes care of the birds, then, surely, He will take care of us, since we are more precious to Him than the birds.
2. Worry doesn’t accomplish anything. Jesus tells us that we cannot add a single day to our life by worrying—nor can we make ourselves more secure or happier or whatever by worrying. All we do is play into Satan’s hands.
3. Constant worry indicates we don’t really believe in the sovereignty of God; we don’t trust His power and His care for us. If we are in God’s hands, then what can really harm us? As Paul asks in Romans 8:31, “If God is for us, who [or what] is against us?”
4. Constant worry means we don’t have our priorities straight. Jesus tells us, “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be provided you.” If we fill our minds with thoughts of God’s grace revealed in our Lord Jesus Christ, there won’t be any room for worry.
5. Live one day at a time. Don’t borrow trouble by worrying about tomorrow, when we do not know if we will even have tomorrow. Today is God’s gift. Use it. Cherish it. Don’t play God by thinking we can do anything about tomorrow. Oh, it’s okay to look ahead and plan, just so long as we remember to follow the counsel of James 4:15—”Instead, you ought to say, ‘If the Lord wills, we shall live and also do this or that.’”
6. Instead of worrying, PRAY! This is what Paul is telling us in Philippians 4:6. The result is the peace of God that passes all understanding, which will calm and steady our minds in Christ Jesus.
There is one more thing to be said. We need to ask ourselves what it is that is making us worry? Perhaps the answer is given in Psalm 38:18, which says, “For I confess my iniquity; I am full of anxiety because of my sin.” Instead of worrying, CONFESS AND PRAY FOR FORGIVENESS. This we must do continually. But we must NOT WORRY CONTINUALLY.

I know these things but my daughter doesn't want to hear about it right now.
She has been living with panic attacks & PTSD for about 6-7 years now. When she is having a bad time with it, she feels like she is a bad Christian & then that segways into "God has abandoned me".
I have a hard time helping her, she's the type of person who wallows in her grief & I just don't understand that mind-set. Needless to say, she doesn't want to hear anything I say.
I've spoken sooo highly of you to her. I am going to email her your comment & maybe she'll pay more attention if it is coming from someone other than me.

The other stuff is practically gone. I just took pregnazone and valtrex. I hope they work quickly. I hate drugs.

You and your family are definitely in my prayers! Some thoughts:
It sounds like your daughter's drop in school performance coincided with her sexual activity. The underlying stress, guilt, and worry about that could be the cause (or at least the trigger) to her present crisis. FWIW, the new home pregnancy tests they have now are as accurate as anything you would get at the doctor's office. Like any test, there is still the chance of a false negative (i.e., it says "NO" when it should say "YES"). If she is still late this weekend you should probably get another test (a different brand, if possible), and if that is still negative, then it's almost a certainty that it is the stress that is causing her period to be late. It's hard to say which came first, the depression, the stress, or the hormonal changes that are linked to depression and stress. In any case, if the pregnancy test is still "NO" next Monday, then you can tell her with a fair amount of certainty that she is not pregnant, and can stop worrying about that. Having that knowledge may be what she needs to know (or at least hear) in order to deal with the other stressors in her life.
As for her classes, you didn't say if she is a senior or a junior, but since you didn't mention graduation I'll assume a junior. Do you live in an area that offers summer classes? This may be a way for her to make up for that class. If that's possible, then that is one issue resolved (or at least pushed off) and she can focus on her other classes. Not having to deal with that one class may be what she needs to do better in her other classes.
From my years of dealing with depression, I can tell you that being able to make SOME progress, no matter how small, can be liberating. Along with everyone else here, I can tell you that I've been undergoing spiritual attacks this last week (mostly starting after I witnessed to my daughters after seeing "Expelled" -- I may have hit more marks than I realized), among them a feeling of helplessness in everyday things, of being overwhelmed by what I believe I need to do. After finally fighting it off with prayer, I started getting small things done, and that has helped immensely. So if you can help ease her fears on one or two issues that seem to be acting as catalysts, then the other fears and issues causing depression can be dealt with much more effectively.
As for Iowagal and the others; how many of them were invited to the cave?

Eastern Iowa is under a flash flood warning, and flooding is expected to start by Sunday on many rivers in Eastern Iowa. So far it doesn't look as bad as in 1993, but everyone is keeping their fingers crossed. Please pray that the rain is MODERATED, so that we don't have floods but we don't go from floods in the spring to droughts by mid-summer. Thanks!
