Philippians 1:27-28

Php 1:27 Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

Php 1:28 in no way alarmed by your opponents--which is a sign of destruction for them, but of salvation for you, and that too, from God.

We also watched the Fox new special last night and also the news coming out of Israel after that. I am so glad to have been able to watch it with my husband. We saw some about the world wide protests and even some in NY and Florida. He was shocked, I was not. He does not pay attention to this stuff like I do and I have been praying that the Lord would open his eyes and wake him up to the reality of these times!

Grany-so good to hear from you. I vaguely thought I remembered you were going some place but thought you had gone and come back. you must have gone away again.

The Hamas leader's son, at least by written testimony which came out when the news first broke, did appear to be a genuine convert to Christ and so does not deserve quote marks around the word Christian in front of his name.

OH great, thanks for the updates about the special last night.. I was not able t6o watch it as my husband was watching the football game and a few other things were going on, but I did record it and will watch it today.

Thanks for the info about the Hamas leader's son's conversion, as well.

I found this on Perry Stone's site:

"I will only deal with one expression in the words of Jesus to give you an example of the importance of Biblical research and study. Here is the statement:

“Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.” Matthew 19:23-24

In the English language we see a “needle’s eye” as the small opening in a sewing needle through which a piece of thread is pulled. Can you see a camel attempting to go through such an opening? Actually Jesus did not have a sewing needle in mind.

In the Ancient time every city had gates. Some were made of wood but many were iron or a combination of wood and iron (Isaiah 45:1). These large gates were shut at night and no one was permitted to enter or exit unless it was an important person. There were also watchmen placed on the wall to guard against invading armies. A small door was placed within the large doors that would permit someone to enter or exit in the event of an emergency or because of a definite need or purpose. This small door was called the “needle’s eye.” Jesus said it was difficult for a camel to go through the eye of the needle. Camels are a very tall animal with a very long neck and were often laden down with large bags to transport wheat, charcoal, wood and other important commodities into the town every day.

A burdened down camel carrying these loads cannot possibly enter the eye of the needle without unloading its burdens! Jesus was saying that those who are extremely rich are so burdened down with the cares of life and riches that unless they unload themselves from the many cares of life, they will have difficulty entering the kingdom, just like a camel who is burdened down with its load cannot enter into the narrow opening in the city gate.

A camel needs a BROAD road to carry its load but Jesus taught the road leading to life is very narrow. This is just one of many examples of understanding the unusual and difficult words of Jesus.

My Lil Marge, Happy, Hoppy Birthday and many, many more. I have missed you greatly and talked about you all of the time in Missouri. It was good. A friend of ours from Milan has moved to Olympia and was home for Christmas. She got out before the snow started and felt kinda bad because her hubby decided to skip the trip.

I am still in Bella Vista so I won't be checking my email until I get home. I have to tell you all that I was kinda dreading the trip to Missouri for many reasons but the were all wasted worries and I thank Marge and others who interceeded for me regarding the excursion. God went before us and we didn't get into any icy conditions except on the old country roads but they have a base of gravel so we had traction. My daughter grew up driving on roads just like them (I learned to drive on them when I was just a new blushing bride). God is so good and we can never thank Him enough for all his provisions and care.

Lisa, your exposition on the Eye of the Needle is right on. When I was in Israel in the early 90's our Jewish Guide explained the very same thing to us and we visited a bunch of "Camel's Eye Gates" while there. It is quite interesting and believe me they are very short and narrow. I am 5'4" tall and I had to bend way down and suck in just to get into the sheep fold. They put the same gates around their homes and business in the olden days and for some reason they were never removed and they didn't rot. Our guides name was "Shep" and he explained that they used a special wood that grew there which never rotted. I don't remember the name of the trees but it was quite the revelation for me regarding that passage of scripture. You brought back a wonderful memory and I thank you for it.

MAC I missed you also. And everyone else besides but I know you are having warmer climes right now and couldn't help thinking it might be a good time to take Mr. Hyde out for a stroll and fresh air. Remember the sunglasses though.

One of the things I did do while I was in Milan and I hope you all don't care. I introduced some of my family an friends to the cave and they were so surprised at the discussions they saw taking place here. They thought all bloggers were liberal left and my friend of 54 years really enjoyed the scripture discussions. She also was amazed that we come from all over the world. She is the type who will read but hates to type so if you see me addressing June, it will be her I am addressing. She is a wonderful Christian lady and we have weathered many storms together.

Well, time to go check in with the kids and help wiith the lunch. Talk to you all tomorrow.

I've got fields for:
- Name (just first or whole name)
- Email
- Spouse name (significant other)
- Kids
- Birthday
- Location

I have alot of this info. & wanted to put all into one safe place. Primarily to have on hand for emergency & to be able to remember b-days, etc.

If you feel comfortable sharing the info. please either post here or email me with the info.

I won't share full names or emails, unless you specify it's ok. But, it might be neat for us all to have a list of b-days, spouse, kids & blog addresses.

Hello All,

Have you guys read Psalm 108-110 with the "nun" theory? Very interesting. In Psalm 109 it talks about a leader who will be removed from office early and his children will be fatherless and his wife a widow. Of course, it always has greater implications than one man and family and of course which country is David referring to? Israel....what if it is talking about America here?? The financial implications in it were chilling. Anybody else with thoughts on that? Who gave us the reference to the Nun theory again? Interesting find.

I watched the Fox report on "Escape from Hamas" very well done and informative. They play it again on re-runs late in the evening if you missed it or forgot to tape it. Worth the watch. I pray his father converts, also.

The History channel is running a special on the 7 signs of the Apocalypse in which Joel R. is supposed to be interviewed on. It starts this Monday at 8pm or 9pm depending on your time zone(see Joel's web blog).

The earthquake activity has suddenly stopped yesterday-cold turkey from the Yellowstone swarms. That was really odd?????

I think Israel looks good in this war and it is going to make the other players ready to jump in and help Hamas turn the tide. Russia is already making their chess move. Who will be next?

I'm so thankful that our Lord loves us so much that He already gave us the outcome of the whole world's conflict. We know who wins in the end and who the Victor is. Thank you Lord for allowing me to be on Your team, please help me show others to Your winning side.

Hoping for Divine Appointments this week for all of us:)

This week on the History Channel is "Armageddon" week. Now I'm listening to how the fall of Lucifer is not actually spoken of in the Bible.(Really?-HA.)

They have pastors on speaking of Pride, the 7 deadly sins,etc.. (The dramatic erie music is playing in the background.)

Other cultures-Greek,Islamic,Roman,... have similar beliefs to Christainity-as if it's questioning the validity of the claims in Christianity w/o coming right out & saying so.

Anyone have an opinion of the History channel?

Scott Robinson said...

History Channel IMO has never shed Christianity in a super positive light or given it the real respect. I felt they were always skeptical of its validity and felt like it was an ignorant religion. Like you could feel their underlying doubt by the way they phrased or asked their questions.....you know tone.

Which always made me sad because some of their history and science shows have been excellent.

Maybe they have changed....stranger things have happened. We'll see this week!

I don't really trust what the history channel has to say when it comes to Christianity. Even my 11 year old daughter notices how they try to explain away the miracles in the bible and give rise to doubt for those who are not grounded in the faith. I am always leary when I hear of shows on there but I will watch these this week and see what they have to say.

Did you all see that as of today only ONE Israeli soldier has been killed?! That is amazing and God gets all of the glory. Anyone read the Maoz Report from Ari and Shira Sorko-Ram, a messianic church in Israel? The web site is maozisrael.com. It is very informative for info on the messianic believers there in Israel.

Shalom, all! I just finished reading the recent postings on Radarsite and GSF (Hard to bring myself to type the site's name, even though I approve of the reason behind it. OK. Great Satan's Girlfriend.) Some interesting comments and links to an analysis that was published in the LA Times (In Gaza, the real enemy is Iran). Now, present day Iran equals ancient Assyria (mostly, esp. around Tehran). so I've been trying to line up the present war in Gaza with the War of Psalm 83. The following is a mix of a couple of comments I made to those different blogs. I'm looking for your thoughts...

I have no doubt Hamaz will "scream for a truce louder than a rock band at full volume"; I also believe the silence from Israel will be deafening. They learned their lesson two years ago in Lebanon. (FYI -- about a year after the end of the war in Lebanon, a top Hiz'B'Allah commander confirmed that if Israel had not bowed to international pressure to stop the war when it did, Hiz'B'Allah would have collapsed within a week. So Israel's not going to be so quick to stop until their goals are met.)

This will lead to a worsening of the war: If the analysis quoted by Courtney happens, then as Hamas gets decimated Iran will feel the need to expand the pressure by expanding the area of operation. As Hamas operatives fade into the civilian background and stop answering their cellphones ("Silence, I kill you! Achmed doesn't live here anymore!"), Iran can't send Hiz'B'Allah into Gaza. Instead, they'll have to start attacking northern Israel from Lebanon, aided by Syrian attacks on the Golan Heights. Pretty soon, Jordan and Egypt knuckle under -- either join the attack or suffer the wrath of the Islamic world for failing to help their Palestinian brothers. Saudi Arabia will send a token force, too, just to say they were there.

And Israel will blow them all away.

(Later I wrote:)

The questions I have about Iran and the war in Gaza are these:

I can see how Iran can use its "influence" (diploma-speak for "knee-capping") with Hiz'B'Allah to launch a northern offensive against Israel through Lebanon, and how Syria would want to join in the fun. What I can't see is how they can pressure Jordan to join in. If the Palestinians living in Jordan rise up to declare their righteous anger at the Hashemite royalty, I see civil war rather than joining with Iran. Egypt and Saudi Arabia, yes -- those places are poised for revolution, so the leadership will happily send their most unhappy and disenfranchised citizens to die in a glorious war against Israel.

But Jordan? I haven't read anything lately that would indicate a huge amount of dissatisfaction with the monarchy. Unless...

Do you think it's possible that Jordan would join the fray as an attempt to reclaim Judea and Samaria (aka "West Bank")? The monarchy is still pretty p*ssed over Arafat's (Fatah's) assassination attempt back in the early '70's. Perhaps they would "join in", moving their troops through the Palestinian Authority (and incidentally sweeping up as much of the Fatah leadership as possible) and attempt to retake Jerusalem? When they are defeated, they are pushed back into Jordan, carrying as many Fatah supporters as possible, leaving Judea and Samaria relatively Palestinian free and ready to be officially claimed as territory. (No longer "occupied" but "owned", since under international law Israel can claim it and however much of Jordan it can hold following a defensive war against an aggressor nation.)

Hmmm...

Anyone have any thoughts?

I personally have always thought that the extended borders spoken of for Israel don't happen until the Millennial Kingdom and there are a lot of reasons which I don't have the time to get into at the moment. I think they are spoken of in EZ 40 and subsequent chapters which would place those extended borders after Gog and Magog.

I would grant that it could be after Gog and Magog for the Tribulation but doubt that as well since there are countries discussed still identified by there ancient inhabitants that appear to be in place in the Tribulation-another reason I am not completely sold on the idea of PS 83 happening first.

btw if the nun theory were correct shouldn't the war spoken of in Ps 83 taken place in 1983?

That passage in Psalm 109 was actually fulfilled by Judas. Peter quotes it in Acts 1:20.

I think some prophecies can have be fulfilled in multiple ways though, so that does not mean there can't be a secondary fulfillment so to speak (if it is true that some prophecies are indeed sometimes fulfilled by God in multiple ways).

Anyway, regarding the Psalms corresponding to yearly events in the life of the nation of Israel, I think there there might be portions that are fullfilled in each but that 100% of the Psalms aren't necessarily prophetic. Can't some passages simply be praise for example? It always struck me as strange how many of the Scriptures from the OT that are referenced in the NT seemed almost out of context. I do not doubt for a second that God meant for them to be interpreted the way the NT attributes interpretation. I just have often found certain passages as seemingly out of context. Clearly, I am not questioning the Holy Spirit. He is God and I am not!

The Gaza Conflict

By Dr. David R. Reagan

Many are wondering if the current conflict in Gaza might lead to the Russian led invasion of Israel that is prophesied in Ezekiel 38 & 39. That is not possible because one of the conditions for that invasion is that the Jewish people must be living in peace in cities without walls (Ezekiel 38:8 & 11). That certainly is not the case at the moment. Most of the Jews of Israel are living behind a giant wall that runs the length of the country's heartland, separating them from the Palestinians. And tens of thousands of Jews in southern Israel have been living in bomb shelters to protect themselves from daily rocket attacks out of Gaza.

Bill Salus, a Bible prophecy scholar in California, has proposed that the peaceful situation pictured for the Israelis in Ezekiel 38 might be the result of a victorious war against their Arab neighbors as pictured in Psalm 83 (see Salus' book, Israelstine).

Such a war could also solve a mystery concerning the Russian invasion — namely, the fact that the Russian coalition of Muslim states that is portrayed in Ezekiel 38 and 39 does not include any of the Arab states that currently exist adjacent to Israel.

Could it be that Israel will first fight the Psalm 83 war against its Arab neighbors? Then, after subduing them and experiencing true peace, the Russians would launch the Ezekiel 38 war which will result in the supernatural annihilation of their forces, including all the armies of their Muslim allies.

The Psalm 83 war would neutralize the inner ring of Muslim states. The Ezekiel 38 war would result in the destruction of the outer ring of Muslim nations.

These wars could occur before the Tribulation begins, and the Rapture could occur any time — before them, during them, or after them.

The nation to watch is Syria. They are one of Israel's prime enemies. They have sophisticated missiles, and they only have to shoot them 150 miles to hit key targets like Haifa and Tel Aviv. If they should launch a missile barrage, Israel's only hope would be the use of tactical nuclear weapons. It is prophesied that Syria's capital of Damascus will cease to exist in the end times (Isaiah 17:1-14 and Jeremiah 49:23-27). That could well prove to the one of the consequences of the Psalm 83 war.

We are living in exciting and momentous times when we can watch the consummation of historical events that are prophesied to lead up to the Lord's return. Put on your seat belt and pray!

Late Night Lisa said...

Our pastor mentioned this - this past Sunday. From the Mark Biltz Newsletter:

We live in prophetic times!

Be sure and listen to the beginning of last Shabbats lesson if you can.

2,168 years ago at the first Chanukkah, if you read the history books you will find because it was a Sabbath when they were first attacked they chose not to defend themselves and many were slaughtered.

It was a watershed event in Jewish history. From that day on they said God would want them to defend themselves even on the Sabbath because the commandments were given that they might live!

De 8:1 All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers.

So while many gentiles wouldn’t get it, it was very significant to the Jews that they finally chose to defend themselves on the Sabbath of Chanukah. Not only that but it was also a holy day in that it was the New Moon the beginning of the month!

Isa 66:23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

As many of you know the ground war started on the Sabbath here but Sunday in Israel.

Ariel Sharon is the one who evacuated the Gaza strip at sunset of the 9th of Av in 2005. Many of the religious Jews felt God would judge him for that. Many secular Jews felt they would just have to go back and invade Gaza again in the future.

As you know Ariel Sharon went into a coma on Jan 4th 2006. Exactly 3 years later to the day that Sharon went into the coma, on Jan 4th 2009they reinvaded the Gaza strip.

not a bad article but people are way to hung up on the wall that is present.

Historically entire cities had walls-think Jericho-which would also have been true in Ezekiel's day. The fact is that NONE of the cities in Israel have encircling walls for defense, something that would have been unheard of in the day that the prophecy was written. If one considers what was historically meant by villages being walled, wall down the heartland not withstanding, Israel is currently by an historical definition of a land of unwalled villages.

the peace issue is a different scenerio altogether.

while Ps 83 certainly could happen next one of my reservations about that happening next is that there are other prophecies which classically are interpreted to occur within the time of the Tribulation. the area which Mr Salus says Israel will have prior to the war of Gog and Magog includes areas (Jordan and Egypt in particular)which appear to still be under the control of the peoples who controlled them in ancient times. If those areas are to be under Israeli control and if one accepts that the AC will start mass genocide (or attempted genocide) of the Jews after the 3.5 year point in the Tribulation, somewhere the Bible says that the AC will spare what is currently Jordan ( a reason given by some that the AC and the world religion are part of an Islamic caliphate) . If the Jews control Jordan why would the AC spare Jordan? makes no sense to me.

I believe LaHaye and Ice for example place the war of Ps 83 within the Tribulation period and it makes as much sense there as anywhere else.

Late Night Lisa said...

You know Joel Richardson & those types place Ezekiel 38/39 sometime in the Trib as well.

I watched the first 15 minutes of it and my son was getting a little restive and so couldn't concentrate. it came on again much later so we recorded it then.

Lisa,
for many years I also thought that Gog and Magog would be in the Tribulation. I now think it precedes the tribulation. makes much more sense that way.

I think I could see Ps 83 taking place before EZ 38/Is 17, in the middle of them or after both of them. I could also see it being the cause of WW3 with the opening of the seal leading to war in the first part of the trib as well as during the second half of the trib or even leading up to the final battle. I think one of the reasons that Salus is so dogmatic is his interpretation of who the AC is going to confirm the peace treaty with ISrael between. He thinks it is not between Israel and muslim nations (all of those having been wiped out with the above 3 prophecies being fulfilled) but with the offspring of Nephilium and women (if what I read in one of his commentaries is to be believed). I guess he takes the whole "as in the days of Noah" more literally than most.

Jen, these statements were the topper:

"People are too depressed to be sexually active," Flynt said in the press release. "This is very unhealthy as a nation. Americans can do without cars and such but they cannot do without sex."

(If this is true then the Abortion industry will be next in line for their own "bailout". Then the hospitals will be overburdened from people dying from a lack of sex! What do you think Jib?)

Francis said he and Flynt would also be willing to discuss the possibility of the government buying equity stakes in their companies, as was done with financial firms.

"If the government would like to be a partner with Mr. Flynt and I, we’re certainly amenable to it," he said.

(OH, I bet they would like some stakes. Will they request their porn to be rare or well done?)

Hey Lisa,
I already read one article where certain healthcare programs (stated subtly but clearly meant as reproductive 'health') have already met with officials to express their need for money to continue promoting their issues and services. They implied that with higher unemployment, people would have fewer benefits and access to health care, so the free/reduced clinics would be more needed than ever.
Made me boil.

got into a discussion last night on prophecy with on of the other docs and told him about Ez 38 with Ez 37 and the nation of Israel being symbolically referred to as dry bones being knit together to a living nation. He was quite intrigued and as he rightly pointed part of the impetus for the nation of Israel was the collective world guilt over the gas chambers. He pointed out that the nation of Israel was quite literally came into being because of dry bones. when you re-read the first part of chapter 37 and think of the gas chambers it is kind of eerie

Shalom, all! Thanks all for the prayers -- I'm feeling much better today. I happened to speak with my brother the pathologist last night (he finally got on Skype), and when I mentioned "the creeping crud" he said that it had hit his family too. There's no real name for it. It's not flu, because there's no coughing or breathing problems associated with it. There may or may not be intestinal involvement; just extreme queasiness and extreme fatigue for two to four days. All you can do is bed rest for that time and wash your hands frequently or use that hand gel sanitizer. Has it hit anyone else's family yet?

Jim G., I am really shocked at the statement by Cardinal Renato Martino. I can only think of two things. One is that he's trying to minimize HAMAS action against the Christians in Gaza (who are mostly Catholic, with the Greek Orthodox being a close second). Second is what happened the last time the Vatican spoke out against a genocidal regime. It was in 1939. All the major Christian churches in the Netherlands were preparing a statement of protest against the actions of the German Army and the Nazi Party against the Jews of Holland. The statement was to be read from all the pulpits on the same Sunday. At the last minute, the Protestants backed out of signing and reading the statement. The Catholic Church went ahead. The next week, over 1,000 Catholic priests, nuns, and religious workers were rounded up, loaded onto cattle cars, and sent to the concentration camps in Germany. None of the Protestants who backed out of signing the statement were touched. None of them openly spoke out against the treatment of the Jews for the duration of the occupation.

It's easy to get into the martyrdom mindset. It's easy to plan to die for Christ. The problem is, I thought that the while goal was to be prepared to die for Christ, the goal is also to actually LIVE for Christ -- a much more difficult action. Not to mention the morality of taking a moral stand that will result in the punishment and death of unknown numbers of people when you are safe and the people are 1,000 miles away. I'm keeping up the prayers for all of Gaza, and in particular for all the Christians in the Holy Land.

I'm surprised to read about the rocket attacks from the north, particularly because of all the stuff I was reading yesterday saying the Hez'B'Allah was not prepared to attack Israel, because they're stretched too thin. Things are lining up.

====================
Novena request start Jan.11

If you are apposed to abortion then there is bad news on the horizon.

For those of you who do not know, the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) is set to be signed if congress passes it on January 21-22 of 2009. The FOCA is the next sick chapter in the book of abortion. If made a law then all limitations on abortion will be lifted which will result in the following:

1) All hospitals, including Catholic hospitals will be required to perform abortions upon request. If this happens Bishops vow to close down all Catholic hospitals, more then 30% of all hospitals in the United States are Catholic

2) Partial birth abortions would be legal and have no limitations.

3) All U.S. tax payers would be funding abortions.

4) Parental notification will no longer be required.

5) The number of abortions will increase by a minimum of 100,000 annually.

Perhaps most importantly the government will now have control in the issue of abortion. This could result in a future amendment that would force women by law to have abortions in certain situations (rape, down syndrome babies, etc) and could even regulate how many children women are allowed to have.

Needless to say this information is disturbing, but sadly true. As Catholics, as Christians, as anyone who is against the needless killing of innocent children, we must stand as one. We must stop this horrific act before it becomes a law.

The Plan :

To say a novena (9 days of prayer) along with fasting starting on January 11th. For Catholics, the prayer of choice will be the rosary with intentions to stop the FOCA. For non-Catholics I encourage you to pray your strongest prayers with the same intentions, also for nine consecutive days.

The hope is that this will branch and blossom as to become a global effort with maximum impact. We have very little time so we all must act fast.

Just do three things:

1) Pass this letter to 5 or more people

2) Do it in three days or less

3) Start the novena on January 11th and pray for nine consecutive days.

(please also fast for at least two days during the novena)

Remember that with God all things are possible and the power of prayer is undeniable. If you are against the senseless killing of defenseless children then the time is now to do something about it!

May God bless you all!!

I didn't feel anything! But I'll tell you what-the jets have been roaring over our town consistently.

We are not far from the Miramar air force base & I can hear another jet right now. It's not unusual to hear jets but this is more than usual activity.

(Before we went into Iraq they were going gung ho. In fact this gigantic thing-I can't even tell you what it was-rattled the house so bad one night I went outside & looked up to see it flying low overheard. It was just huge-like a long cigar.)

So with all the noise and vibrations lately-I may have just attributed the shaking to all the air force activity.

But-I am anticipating some California shaking to be on the horizon. There has been so many fires-seems logical the next thing to happen are some of the earthquakes the prophet types have been having dreams/visions about.

They have been more focused on being terrible in Nothern Ca-coming down to LA in a moderate force. But w/the San Andreas fault line here-does not look good for SD either. I just have not heard anything prophetically mentioned about this town. How about a massive Tsunami?

Anyone remember the following prayer request?

Dollie's son Ed, an Auto Mechanic:

1.He was at work on Saturday, November 22, 2008 and about 6:00PM, he was up about 2 or 3 feet off the floor working on a car. One of the men came pass and said “Good night Ed”. Ed turned to look at him and fell. He was knocked My son, Ed, is an auto mechanic.
unconscious so they called the paramedics. They could not revive him so he was airlifted to Delray Medical Center.
2. On the way he revived but had a seizure so they sedated him.
3.At Delray Medical Center they did a CAT scan and several other tests and found a large amount of blood on the brain. They thought that the fall caused an aneurysm and it burst. But because of the extreme amount of blood they couldn’t tell if it was still bleeding or if it had stopped. He wasn’t breathing on his on so they put him on a respirator.
4. At 7:00 PM his wife, Tammie, called me and told me that he had fallen at work and was unconscious and they were taking him to Delray. Ray and I were in Daytona Beach, Fl. and were to leave for Virginia for the Holiday. We made the trip to Delray in record time.
5. Delray was not equipped to handle his sever injury so they airlifted him to Hollywood Memorial in Hollywood, Fl. They were concerned that in his condition they he might not make the trip but he did.
6.At Hollywood, the doctors said that the test from Delray show another aneurysm that had not burst but his condition was so unstable they couldn’t move him for more test. They worked during the night to stabilize him.
7. Sunday morning they felt he was stable enough to do the angiogram but before they took him to the operating room they gave us a picture of doom and gloom. They said based on the amount of blood on the brain they felt there was a 30 to 50% chance that he would have sever brain damage. They also talked about drilling a hole in the top of his head to drain the brain fluids because of the pressure of all the blood in it. They also said there was a 15% chance he would have a heart attack on the operating table and not survive it.
8. They left with him. Twenty later they were back and indeed his heart had stopped. They revived him and brought him back to his room. At this time the surgeons again gave us NO hope. They just kept repeating, “He is a very, very sick man so be prepared for the worst. It is now just wait and see because in addition to the blood on the brain, his heart and lungs are were
bad condition. The only movements he made were to roll his head from side to side and occasional raise his arms as if he wanted to punch something. When these happened they would sedate him because his blood pressure would go up so high.
Tammie never left his side during all of this. She kept holding his hand, rubbing his legs and talking to him. Ray and I took his daughter home and then returned. We all took turns keeping him company.
9. He survived Sunday. Saturday night when they did test to see if he felt any thing, the only thing that showed any indication was his eyes. Sunday night when they did the same tests 2 toes on his right foot and his eyes reacted to the pressure.
10. Monday at 5:30 AM he opened his eyes for the first time. We were all so excited.
11. He finally stabilized enough for them to take him for a CAT scan and it showed that the brain was reabsorbing some of the blood and the fluid was moving again so they would not need to drill the hole to drain the brain fluid.
12. All day yesterday we talked him even more. They stopped all the sedation and he steadily became more responsive.
13.Late Monday afternoon he opened his eyes again. Monday night he followed simple commands from the nurse, open your eyes, stick out your tongue, move your hand, etc. We could see it was difficult and took a while for him to do it but he would finally do the commands.
We would talk to him and he would look at us. When we moved to the other side of the bed and talked he would turn his head in that direction. If we touched him he would turn his head and look in that direction. He moved his mouth as if to talk but they have so many tubes in his mouth that he can’t close it. They put a piece of plastic is his mouth to keep him from chewing on his breathing tube and cutting off his oxygen.
14. He now has pneumonia and they are treating it.
15. The doctor said they can strengthen the heart, clear up the pneumonia and should be able to do the angiogram on Friday.

WELL....

This will be my last official update on Ed

He came home from the hospital before Christmas. He is now walking without a walker. He is still slow but gaining strength each day.
They removed the feeding tube last Wednesday and said everything was looking great.
He has a good appetite and is getting stronger each day.
They have signed him up for Social Security disability since he isn't able to work. We have not heard anything about yet.
Tammie still hasn't found a job but maybe she will soon.
Thanks again for all your prayers and best wishes. It is truly a miracle and one I am thankful for every day. Dollie

From Sue at Praise & Coffee's site:

We urgently need your prayers here in Costa Rica. Yesterday at 1:21 p.m. we were hit by the most damaging earthquake Costa Rica has had in 118 years.

It registered at 6.2 and the epicenter was some 10 kilometers from Poas Volcano. The damage is extensive due to the mountainous nature of the area.

There are 14 known dead so far as of 7 a.m. today with dozens missing and feared buried under landslides. It is raining in the mountains this morning which is seriously hampering rescue operations, and increasing the possibility of more landslides.

Entire communities are cut off as many miles of roads totally disappeared and bridges are gone as well. The Red Cross is trying to get into those areas by helicopter and the latest report is that the U.S. military in Honduras is sending down two large helicopters to help airlift people out.

So far we have had over 1500 aftershocks and OVSICORI (the earthquake/volcano people) are advising that this may go on for an indefinite period of time. The epicenter was 35 kilometers NNW of San Jose where we live.

We were shaken up quite a bit, but suffered no major damage. The quake was caused by movement of a local fault system (not tectonic or subductive). Geologists are keeping a close watch on Poas Volcano because the epicenter was quite close to the principle crater.

Why Israel Can't win

one of the more interesting statements in the article was the following

"A strong, confident Israel is in America's interest, but so is one that can find peace with its neighbors, cooperate with the Arabs to contain common threats and, most important, reach a just and lasting solution with the Palestinians. But accomplishing all that will require Israel and its defenders to confront excruciating dilemmas: How do you make peace with those who don't seem to want it? How do you win a war when the other side believes time is on its side? And what would true security, in a hostile neighborhood populated with enemies, actually look like?"

This week's promise: God will fight for you
Does God hold our sins against us?

Oh, do not hold us guilty for our former sins! Let your tenderhearted mercies quickly meet our needs, for we are brought low to the dust. Help us, O God of our salvation! Help us for the honor of your name. Oh, save us and forgive our sins for the sake of your name.… Then we your people, the sheep of your pasture, will thank you forever and ever, praising your greatness from generation to generation. Psalm 79:8-9,13 NLT

Petition for Mercy

A plea to God for mercy presumes that the petitioner is guilty. It is the cry of someone brought low, dishonored, and in need of forgiveness. When God shows mercy, he isn't forgiving that person because of what he or she has done, but because God is compassionate to those who repent of their sins and ask for forgiveness. It is only because of God's goodness that sinners are forgiven. Asaph understood that it wasn't his worthiness but the Lord's greatness that prompted the Lord to rescue him. In light of this truth, Asaph dedicated this prayer to praising God for being so merciful.

Are you in need of God's mercy? His love and goodness are the source of your hope. Cast yourself on his mercy and let your lips overflow with grateful praise.

According to the UK's Guardian newspaper, the Obama administration has not been dissuaded from its campaign pledge to abandon America's traditional isolation of terrorist regimes. Evidently beginning with Hamas.

Here we see Guardian following the accepted media practice of attaching "Bush" to every US doctrine it dislikes, (as in the "Bush policy of isolating Hamas").

The reasoning is that if Obama were overturning a "Bush" policy then who cares, but if he were overturning US foreign policy dating back to the Cold War, it may raise a few eyebrows.

And not legitimizing terrorists is a foreign policy doctrine that dates to the Nixon administration.

Hamas didn't exist until 1987, but US policy of not negotiating with terrorists dates back to when Yasser Arafat starting hijacking airplanes in 1969.

Of course, in the limited tunnel-vision universe of the anti-Bush Left, quoting from the Guardian story directly, "move to open contacts with Hamas, which could be initiated through the US intelligence services, would represent a definitive break with the Bush presidency's ostracising of the group. The state department has designated Hamas a terrorist organisation."

Later, the Guardian made this reference: [A]nother potential contender for a foreign policy role in the Obama administration suggested that the president-elect would not be bound by the Bush doctrine of isolating Hamas."

Sigh. MORE "Bush doctrine" stuff? Like Hamas is an enemy of George Bush, and not America.

Hamas was designated as terrorist by the Clinton State Department. (There, I said it! So sue me.)

The Brits are particularly enthused when it comes to The One -- if Obama says it is the thing to do, then get out of the way and let's get to it.

The Guardian admits that legitimizing Hamas would be politically 'toxic' but lays out various scenarios whereby Obama could do it anyway:

"Secret envoys, multilateral six-party talk-like approaches. The total isolation of Hamas that we promulgated under Bush is going to end," said Steve Clemons, the director of the American Strategy Programme at the New America Foundation. "You could do something through the Europeans. You could invent a structure that is multilateral. It is going to be hard for the neocons to swallow," he said. "I think it is going to happen."

But one Middle East expert close to the transition team said: "It is highly unlikely that they will be public about it."

Assessment:

Hamas exists for one expressed purpose: the destruction of Israel as a Jewish State. It cannot exist under any other circumstances -- and still be Hamas.

THAT is why the UK Guardian says the Obama team is proposing SECRET dialogue. Because doing so openly would be bad. If it is bad openly, how does it become good in secret?

But this isn't about Obama's foreign policy plans -- he's not running things yet. What is fascinating is the 'change' anticipated by the Left when he is. For Obama to open a dialogue with Hamas would be an open repudiation of Israel's right to exist, since legitimizing Hamas legitimizes its raison d'être as well.

The media's anti-Semites are frustrated in their efforts to paint Israel as the aggressor in the current Gaza operations, primarily by Hamas itself. Hamas has been too eager to put its own population in harm's way.

Hamas' indiscriminate shelling of Israeli civilian markets and schools doesn't contrast that favorably with Israel's use of precision munitions against combatants.

The United Nations Security Council approved a ceasefire resolution by a vote of 14-0 (with the US abstaining rather than casting its veto) that called for an "immediate, durable and fully respected cease-fire, leading to the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza."

Even before Israel could officially respond, a Hamas spokesman said the group "is not interested" in the cease-fire because it was not consulted and 'the resolution did not meet its minimum demands'. It is hard to blame Israel when Hamas rejected the ceasefire before Jerusalem had a chance to.

The resolution expresses "grave concern" at the escalating violence and the deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza and emphasizes the need to open all border crossings and achieve a lasting solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict.

Now think about how stupid this is. It is HAMAS firing rockets into Israel that started the conflict. Hamas is STILL firing rockets into Israel now. Hamas has pledged to CONTINUE to fire rockets into Israel in the future. So the UN passes a resolution against ISRAEL and includes a 'by the way' clause about Hamas.

It is enough to make one's head explode. But wait! There's more! Hamas rejected the ceasefire because it didn't meet its "minimum demands."

That means Hamas won't accept any agreement that does not include the full opening Gaza's blockaded border crossings. The border crossings are blockaded to prevent Hamas from smuggling in missiles from Egypt to shoot into Israel.

Israel accepted the ceasefire 'in principle' before outlining the principle under which it would accept it. Israel wants a cease-fire that guarantees an end to missile smuggling -- so Hamas' minimum demand cancels out Israel's minimum demand.

Guess which side the UN expects to modify its minimum ceasefire condition?

International news organizations like Reuters and the Associated Press are working overtime on articles detailing the cruelties being inflicted on the Palestinians by Israeli tank crews, setting the stage for the eventual UN demand that Israel unilaterally withdraw.

The US refusal to veto the ceasefire resolution is a signal to Israel to begin wrapping things up in Gaza.

But even as that message was being sent, Syria sent a message of its own via Hezbollah when Hezbollah rockets from Lebanon slammed into an Israeli nursing home in the northern Israeli city of Nahariya.

According to the prophets of the Bible, in the last days, Israel will find itself a pariah nation; friendless and alone. The Prophet Zechariah said that eventually, the whole world will stand against Israel over the issue of Jerusalem. (Zechariah 12:3)

The prophet Isaiah foretells the 'burden of Damascus' in which Damascus is totally destroyed in a devastating overnight attack from Israel: "And behold at eveningtide trouble; and before the morning he is not. " (Isaiah 17:14)

The prophet Obadiah even identified Israel's principle antagonist by name, writing in verse 11; "For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever."

The word rendered 'violence' is the Hebrew word "chamac" also pronounced 'hamas'.

Eventually, Zechariah says, Jerusalem itself will be divided, one more time:

"Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city."

That doesn't take place until the conclusion of the Tribulation Period, the "Day of the Lord" and yet we can already see shadows of how such things could take place, even today, in this modern era.

This isn't the battle of which the Prophets spoke. It is just one of many battles that are part of the conditioning process that will allow the world to totally abandon logic and principle whenever Israel is involved. (Similar to the the way that Hamas can be rehabilitated in the media by simply referring to their terrorist designation as a "Bush policy.")

The spiritual lunatics are in charge of the asylum. The world is being conditioned to accept any charge, no matter how spurious, provided that it is leveled against Israel...

This joke explains all you need to know about Israeli-Palestinian politics.

What happens when a fly falls into a coffee cup?

The Italian - throws the cup, breaks it, and walks away in a fit of rage.

The German - carefully washes the cup, sterilizes it and makes a new
cup of coffee.

The Frenchman - takes out the fly, and drinks the coffee.

The Chinese - eats the fly and throws away the coffee.

The Russian - Drinks the coffee with the fly, since it was extra with no charge.

The Israeli - sells the coffee to the Frenchman, the fly to the Chinese, drinks tea and uses the extra money to invent a device that prevents flies from falling into coffee.

The Palestinian - blames the Israeli for the fly falling in his coffee, protests the act of aggression to the UN, takes a loan from the European Union to buy a new cup of coffee, uses the money to purchase explosives and then blows up the coffee house where the Italian, the Frenchman, the Chinese, the German and the Russian are all trying to explain to the Israeli that he should give away his cup of tea to the Palestinian.

Shalom, all! I'm looking for some help. About a year ago interpreted the dream from someone's daughter regarding Goliath attacking her school. With the events in Gaza I keep thinking about that dream, but I didn't keep a copy of the dream or my interpretation. If anyone remembers it and can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

Then I just thought I'd share this with you.I don't know if there is really anything significant about it or not but it got me thinking.

This is a dream my 6 year old daughter had last night:

(I was reading up a little on the "Nephilim" subject last week but she knows nothing about it)

"Goliath came back to earth and came to my school. He was bigger than the school and was coming back to attack. He crashed the windows and walls and the kids started running around. Then two of God's angles came down. One of the angles put their hand on Goliath's forehead-then a green paper floated down from heaven and landed on top of his head. He kneeled down and I picked it up off of his head. The writing was written in red, black,& white marker. It said "Jehovah is coming back." Then I shouted it out loud "Jehovah is coming Back, Jehovah is coming Back."

Anyway, dreams are not one of my gifts but it was so strange coming from my 6year old I wrote it down.

In all wisdom and insight He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him with a view to an administration suitable to the fullness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth. In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will, to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ would be to the praise of His glory.

Lisa, Thanks! I've copied it into my text file on my PC. Hope your daughter is doing OK and not having any wierd dreams or anything.

I will confess that I had another "scenario" today. I've been praying over whether or not to share it here, because it deals with stuff happening in the Catholic Church. I suffered a great deal of spiritual oppression that kept me from writing it down until late afternoon, but I wrote it down and posted it on Catholic Answers Forum. Since I've never withheld a "scenario" from any of you before, I will repost it here.

Shalom, all. Here is the scenario (although I'm wondering if I should call it a vision, or something else) that I had the morning of Jan. 9. Some background:

The night of the 8th, before signing off, I had posted a comment on the Catholic Answers Forum that said I believed that there would be a schism in the RCC in America by the end of 2010. Overnight, that provoked some comments and questions from "Vee8", "Dawn", and "Swamp." I read their comments upon waking, and was thinking about them when I was getting ready to shower. Suddenly, this scenario filled my mind, and the resulting ending image was so horrifying that for the first time since I began getting these scenarios, I actively rejected and refused to receive it.

I repented of my refusal, but everytime I sat down to write down what I had been given I let myself be distracted by one thing or another. After some prayer I finally got it written down and posted this afternoon. I'm presenting it here with additional notes in italic, since you may not be aware of some of the rules of the RCC.

================

Vee8, Dawn, and Swamp, Shalom! I read your reactions to my posting about the American church being in schism, and suddenly I saw in my mind's eye how it could happen. I've been thinking on it all day, with part of me wanting to reject outright the images I saw, but that would not be honest. What I'm writing now is something that I have felt a great spiritual oppression against writing all day, letting myself get distracted. I can't put it off any more.

I see this as happening in both the public and hidden spheres. The source of the schism will be both life issues (particularly abortion) and homosexual marriage. The potential passage of the FOCA bill will be the public sign. (FOCA -- Freedom Of Choice Act -- a federal bill that will remove all state's limits on abortion and force all doctors and hospitals to provide abortion on demand, regardless of religous belief or conscience, or have their licensing revoked. PE Obama has promised to make it one of the first bills he signs into law upon becoming President.) There will be a division within the American bishops over what to do with Catholic legislators who vote for FOCA, as well as those who reiterate their support for abortion yet claim they are still faithful Catholics. There will be increasing pressure on many bishops to forbid these politicians from receiving Holy Communion. When that happens (it will only take one) the controversy will arise about private and public conscience, and how can a church force its member to support or oppose something the people of America may want. Some bishops will violate the rule of collegiality, i.e., if someone is forbidden from receiving communion in one diocese, it may be offered to them in another. (Collegiality -- from the College (or Group) of Bishops. Simply put, if a bishop forbids someone from receiving communion in their diocese, the person cannot simply go to another diocese. The ban is respected by all bishops worldwide, including the Pope.) This conflict, turmoil, and scandal may rise to the point where the Vatican feels it necessary to step in and force each and every bishop in America to publicly pledge they will faithfully follow Catholic doctrine as laid down by the Vatican.

These actions will result in an enormous backlash in America, as the media will present this not as the Church enforcing unity of belief but as a foreign power forcing American Congressmen-and-women to vote against American interests. This will begin the hidden sphere's sign. The IRS will quietly begin reviewing regulations with an eye towards revoking the tax-deductible status of the Roman Catholic Church: does it have to be done for the organization as a whole, or can it be done diocese by diocese or parish by parish? Things will reach a head when a lesbian couple in Massachusetts will file a lawsuit against a parish for refusing to perform a marriage ceremony. This will pit the US courts against the US Church: can a religious institution be compelled to perform an act that is against its teaching?

This will fuel the groundswell of anti-Catholic feeling in America. The end result will be bishops who will go to Rome and swear loyalty to the Church, yet come back and tell people that "it meant nothing..." The Vatican will be forced to recall those bishops and attempt to install new ones. Sooner or later one of those bishops will file a lawsuit challenging the authority or right of Rome to replace him.

The lawsuit will be bogus, of course, but will be based on American labor law: did the Vatican give the bishop time to change and improve performance; how is performance measured in an organization like the Catholic Church anyway, etc. At the same time, the IRS will move to revoke the tax-exempt status of the diocese. This will be the means which will allow the US Government to execute some measure of control over the RCC.

The displaced bishops (who are still bishops, having received a charism that cannot be revoked), emboldened by renegade churchmen in Europe, will move to create a new organization, fulfilling the love promised by Christ and still claiming to follow the teachings of the Church. If you google "American catholic church" (make sure to include the quote marks) you'll come up with a variety of organizations in America that claim to be Catholic, some focusing on the GLBT community, many emphasizing that they "are not under the jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Church and are therefore not subject to the same rules and regulations," while still claiming to be part of "Apostolic Succession". It's possible that these heretic former bishops will try to unite all of these disparate "catholic" churches into one organization. The resulting scandal and confusion of trying to find a parish that is still faithful to Rome that hasn't been driven out of business by the IRS (will the IRS start going after individual members?) will lead to the falling away of many American Catholics.

The real problem will come when Pope Benedict dies. I can see this schism stretching across the ocean into the Vatican, where during the conclave "bishop will be against bishop and cardinal against cardinal." Beyond that I do not know or do not want to know what will happen, save that when I think upon the situation my heart is filled with grief.

Forgive us our sins, O Lord, and fill us with Your Holy Spirit. PRAY! PRAY! PRAY!

Jim C.

I guess you’re worried about the Catholic Church. When this abortion thing comes to pass I'm afraid your scenario is very plausible.

But think of it this way. God is in control of all these situations & is testing to see who will do what. So if this does happen to the Catholic Church then it's only because He has allowed it. And doesn't He make good out of what can appear horrific to us @ the time?

Only when we look back do we find how everything works toward the good of them who truly love Him.

I like Andrew Strom's saying. "Everything that can be shaken will be shaken."

BTW-those of us who don't go for the Apostolic Succession view think you are going to be just fine. 1 Timothy 2:5 "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

John 14:6 "Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

John 14:15-18 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you."

John 16:12,13 " I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come."

**So Jim, it's possible He has told you some things to come.(:

Romans 8:14 "For as may are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father." The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. and if children, then heirs of God and joint heirs of Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together."

if it's any consolation the same thing will happen to many evangelical churches as well. Those young evangelicals who buy into the purpose driven mystique and "more important" causes such as world poverty, aids and global warming are going to cause a schism within the evangelical church that will be greater than that which occurred with the formation of the evangelical and fundamental movements. I have read a history of that time period for one of my college classes and it was ugly.

I do agree with your sentiments. I felt that way reading Ezekiel Option and heard the voice of God while reading the book Glorious Appearing by LaHaye and Jenkins. The voice was male and when Christ spoke to people in the book using their own names I heard the voice say my name. I was often in tears while reading the book. Hasn't happened since and I have read the book twice since then. I don't even remember what was going on in my life at that time, just what happened while reading the book. I was somewhat active at the left behind boards at that time and there were a number of people who had similar stories.

the war continues to escalate in Gaza this surely has to fulfill or lead to the fulfillment of one of the other prophecies. Since Israel is defying another non binding security council call for truce and the continued bloodshed will be on their hands (per the article-interesting that they don't say the same about Hamas only Israel) it will be interesting to see what comes of this.

I can for see Israel taking over the area once again and not giving up the Golan heights. I think these action could lead to either Ps 83 or Ez 38. Certainly the vast majority of terror has come from Gaza recently and that is where the wall is located. If they re-occupy and dismantle the wall what will the world's response be? Remember Russia sits on the security council and is allied with Iran who essentially bankrolls Hamas.

BTW, Marge I thought of you when the whole Kissinger says BHO should start a New World order. He's Jewish and you are correct that many thought he was the AC because of his work in the ME. nothing says he couldn't be the false prophet though. just a thought

I was not going to comment on the true Christian eternal security statements.

In fact I closed down the window & thought to myself-might as well read my Bible & did the flip right to the scripture trick again.

So all I can say is that I would feel real warm & fuzzy to buy into that concept but I'm sure you can understand that when you don't see it then you can't believe it.

Here is what I flipped to: Collossians 1:21-23 " And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight-if indeed (Here it goes-there is a condition to be announced) you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heacen, of which I, Paul, became a minister."

I long for the day when we are all straightened up on these things.

Logically Paul would not be warning Christians of something that could not happen. If we are abiding in Christ we are eternally secure. That I do believe.

Ah, my old buddy (ha, ha!) Henry Kissinger :) I was one of the many that really thought he was a prime canidate for the AC. False Prophet? Hmmmm. Maybe. I've kinda given up on speculating about those things, I have to admit. I've come to see that a major event, like 9-11, can change the completion of everything, within hours/days. I've come to be a firm believer in the Bible's "suddenlies."

Was it Betty Maltz (spelling probably isn't right) that received a healing miracle, after being pronounced dead, that said, "24 hours can change everything?"
(she wrote it down and it hung on her ref. door, after her miracle from God!)
If memory serves, in the space of 24 hours, she experienced death/miracle healing.
Does anyone remember her testimony? It's been about 20 years ago now, as I recall.

Anyhow, all that to say, that things can go fast, and furious, when the "time is right."

P.S. I'm also looking for a few curve balls, from God :)

Mac (and anyone else who would like to comment),

Would you have any advice to give on how to witness to someone who is really involved with the Secret and other new age cults like that? I believe that you mentioned that you had been into new age stuff when you got saved.

I am asking because I belong to an artists website where I sell my art part time. I know the leadership of this group well and have met and even gone on a trip with them in the past. A few years ago one of the leaders had asked me if I knew anything about the Sectet and I did not at that time.

Since then I had noticed on her blog that she and the other gal were doing weegee (sp) boards and discussing new agey type things with alot of unsuspecting people.

I am drawing the line at something that I saw today. In the newsletter she sent out she quoted some things from an obvious new age teacher AND put a link to his website that offers his books and a discussion board.

At least at this time I have decided that I am not going to sell my items through them. It all gives me the creeps. I do not want to lead my longstanding customers to read that garbage or to think that is what I promote.

This has crossed the line to being unequally yoked at this point.

I have known these people for many years. They are my friends. I have shared the Lord from time to time with the gal that runs the website. One of them lives just an hour away from me.

These people are stay at home moms, wives and part time artists.
They are just regular people who have bought into the media promoted occult.

I care about their souls. I think it is time for me to bow out on a business level but do not want to walk away without speaking out about the deception they are in and sharing the truth.

So you know what I am talking about I am posting the link (I will try to blue it) to the website she linked to. The info she posted in the newsletter advertisement was what is on the face of the website.

whether one holds to the doctrine of eternal security or not, his statements about what evangelicals stood for are historically accurate (although I would have to quibble with his inclusion of eternal security since I don't remember that from my long ago classes). his statments therefore about what constitutes an evangelical are then accurate as well. One can disagree with any of them but his point is well taken-if you wish to apply the label evangelical as it was originally applied then one must believe what the original evangelicals believed.

most of what is listed as what evangelicals believe is a repudiation of the liberal theology of the day in which the evangelical movement started.

I will have to admit however despite studying Baptist history (which is certainly where a great deal of the impetus for the evangelical and fundemental movements came from) We were always taught that there were evangelical lutherans, methodists and of course some presbyterians so I probably would have to quibble at the inclusion of the last statement that true evangelicals all believe in eternal security because certainly those in conservative synods within both the methodist and lutheran denominations would not as they are armenian in theology.

as there is a difference between fundementalists and evangelicals he might better have said all fundementalists as opposed to evangelicals.

while I don't remember all the books I read in college on the subject (Baptist history was a rather tedious class at times) there was one written by my favorite prof on the start of the GARBC movement which includes background on the above.

Portrait of Obedience:The biography of Robert T Ketchum. it was a bright point of the course.

jib said...

I just looked it up, the evangelical movement started in 1730 ironically with Wesley so the last statement on eternal security is most certainly NOT part of the classic definition of evangelical although it might be true of classic fundementalism.

You would become frustrated and start thinking they are unreachable or you might be decieved into thinking that they will eventually find Jesus somehow through their spiritual ramblings."

Such great points!!! I agree that the temptation would be there to give up and start thinking they were unreachable. I have had an idea of some of this stuff for a couple of years now and in reality have been too fearful to boldly confront it so I have ignored it up to this point.

Not for a second do I think that they will find Jesus through their ramblings in this though. Yes, I think possibly that one of them thinks she has Jesus or at least pretends to me that she does.

Time is short and I will stand before the Lord someday. I often picture it as seeing a slide show of my life and all of the opportunities that the Lord has placed in front of me, some of which I was a victor in and some that I chose to ignore and pass by. Gold, wood, hay and stubble.

I would LOVE to have anyone who is so lead to pray with me about this situation. Pray for the two main people involved in this, Sandy and Christy.

Pray that the people (hundreds of them) that received that newsletter would not even go to the website or if they do, that they would not buy into it.

I also pray that any other Christians that belong to the website open their eyes to this and do what God calls them to do in the situation.

I have really prayed in faith that the Holy Spirit will give me courage to show them the truth and the wisdom and knowlege to do so.

I mean really in faith. My first reaction was that this is way too big for me and to not do anything about it. I am asking the Lord to open doors and bring opportunities that only He can and that I would see them and respond when they happen.

Also in response to Lisa you asked about what it meant to be moved away from the hope of the gospel. I have really struggled with what that meant. If it means sin, I am in deep trouble. I have to 1 John 1:9 every day, many times.

I recommitted my life to the Lord about 3 1/2 years ago after not walking with Him for many, many years. I know in my heart I was saved. I know that I was born again at age 16.

The summer before I came back to the Lord, I remember driving up the hill to my house and a thought entered my mind that I did not think I could ever be a Christian again. I felt too far removed and it was just too darned hard to walk the walk.

The Holy Spirit has brought that moment to my rememberance many times since then and I am filled with gratefulness that God drew the line with me, His child right then and there.

He brought circumstances and people in my life that woke me up in a big way. So, I was that close to moving away from the hope of the gospel.

God Bless you too Nate. So glad to see you peeking in again!

jib,

The article you posted, What is an Evangelical? by Michael Youssef, was good except for the last assertion that to be a true Christian you have to believe in eternal security. I appreciate you distancing yourself from that point;-) I've listened to Michael Youssef on both radio and TV through the years and really like him!

I did a little digging as well regarding the definition of Evangelical. As anyone who uses words knows, words can carry different meanings to different people. Still, I think it is possible to come to a reasonable consensus regarding what characteristics are common to people (or churches) that identify themselves as Evangelical.

I found two different articles that list distinctives or characteristics of an Evangelical. One site listed 4 and another listed 5. Here they are:

Evangelicalism (Wikipedia)
Evangelicalism is a Protestant Christian movement....Most adherents consider its key characteristics to be:

a belief in the need for personal conversion (or being "born again");

some expression of the gospel in effort;

a high regard for Biblical authority;

and an emphasis on the death and resurrection of Jesus.

David Bebbington has termed these four distinctive aspects conversionism, activism, biblicism, and crucicentrism...

What is an Evangelical? (Evangelical Alliance)
Against this historical and theological background, the following five points, adapted from key studies of the movement by David Bebbington and Alister McGrath, represent a workable summary of Evangelical characteristics:

Biblicism - Through the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, the God who is objectively 'there' has revealed universal and eternal truth to humankind in such a way that all can grasp it.

Christocentrism - God's eternal Word became human in the historical man Jesus of Nazareth, who definitively reveals God to humanity.

Crucicentrism - The good news of God's revelation in Christ is seen supremely in the cross, where atonement was made for people of every race, tribe and tongue.

Conversionism - The truth of the eternal gospel must be appropriated in personal faith, which comes through repentance - that is, a discernible reorientation of the sinner's mind and heart towards God.

Activism - Gospel truth must be demonstrated in evangelism and social service.

Gaza Protest In Iowa City

I had thought there would be a lot of people from the local Jewish community -- I mean, it was the local Orthodox rabbi that told me about the vigil. Instead, while there were 25-30 people protesting in support of Gaza (about half of those belonging to the local "peace at all costs" group), there was just me standing alone holding up my sign ("Israel, We Support You"), making eye contact with the people passing by and being a source of amusement to an oriental couple. It was about an hour, and I just kept telling myself that it only takes one person.

P.S. -- I just double-checked tht link. I thought it would bring you right to that story, but it doesn't. But I think I found a way around that. Try clicking on this link instead. It's supposed to bring up a pop-up video player. It may open a new window or just a new tab on your browser, depending on your browser.

Jim C.,

That's awesome. So good to attach a face to your name. Somehow, you look just like I imagined -- like a wise and mature brother in Christ!

For those who check out the video, be sure to watch the whole video. Towards the beginning, you see Jim holding his sign but towards the end they interview him briefly.

This is really good! (Fairly short and easy to read, too.)

Grace; Nate said it all!

When I was a New Ager, I would not have listened to any "fundie" telling me that I was wrong. Nate is right about prayer. I'll pray as well.

You might also want to contact Marcia Montenegro who was in the New Age and is now a Christian speaking out against it. I'm sure she would be happy to give you solid advice

As for playing around with the Ouija board - that is a BIG NO NO. Please run as far away from these people as possible. It is a DEMONIC tool.

Jim Carroll! You look almost identical to how I pictured you! That is so funny. Most times I'm completely wrong.

Good for you and thanks for standing by Israel, God will bless you for it.
