2Co 4:16-18

2Co 4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.

2Co 4:17 For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison,

2Co 4:18 while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

prayers requested for inlaw side of family. there is much disharmony between husband and wife and the kids rule the roost. we had an interesting time in SF-we enjoyed seeing some sights but our enjoyment was marred by our niece's behavior.

I am not sure as to the actual salvation of any of them and we actually just found out that brother in law is not a lapsed catholic but actually belongs to a fairly evangelical protestant denomination (not one I recall knowing about but apparently quite similar to Baptist) and was indeed raised that way. suspect his Dad's death a couple of years ago got him to thinking.

I just got into a discussion w/hubby & mom about Obama's reversal of the One Woman/Man Marriage situation & how crazy it's going to get.

Attorney hubby says confidently that there is no way the Fed Govt. can overturn the State's laws & that this will never happen unless they rewrite the laws over the States & that won't happen.

I mentioned I read Obama's agenda on the White House site & to "Mark my Words" (3x) this is going to happen.

So then guess what he calls me? He says to my mom- "She thinks she's the Oracle."

Now it's confirmed I'm living in the Twilight Zone.

Remember the post earlier that Isaiah 17 kept coming to mind this afternoon & when I looked it up it was called "The Oracle Against Damascus" & could not figure out how this would mean anything?

In the 10+ years of marriage my husband has never called me the Oracle much less even mentioned the word.

Weird man. Weird

Lisa;
I think the shadow of what "O" has planned for this country came out in some of his speeches, and in the latest address at the inauguration. It does remain to be seen how far he can go to implement these plans though. I am VERY concerned for this country and have been troubled by the extreme adoration for this man that should only be reserved for God. It is not hard to see, when looking at what is happening, how the world will follow after a man who seems to have all the answers.

When I hear that this election was followed literally around the world by almost all the nations and "O" was supported by our enemies, this should have set off alarms! This proves that the world is ready for antichrist. We are so close!

Maranatha!

Jib -from your link. I like this:

Another contributor, however, while not criticizing the effort to volunteer or improve America, nonetheless took exception to the celebrities promising to serve President Obama.

"I pledge to keep treating the President of the United States of America as the public servant that he is supposed to be," writes the contributor. "I pledge to attempt to correct anyone who thinks that we owe some allegiance to Barack Obama the man, rather than the country he is supposed to represent."

The poster concluded, "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic, for which it stands: one nation, under god, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

pray for my colleague Paul-he is Jewish and I gave him one of my copies of Epicenter. He saw me in the hallway today and was sooo exicted.

"did you see the news? Israel found oil and gas just like that book said they would!!!" he got so exicted he accidently dumped his brief case out on the floor. pray that he remembers what the rest of the book said about being a Christian and Christ as Messiah. I guess a seed has been planted. pray for the harvest. the interesting thing was he originally found the book so interesting that he gave it to other people to read. i have no idea how many people or who has read Epicenter so pray for them as well.

Jib,

That's super news about your Jewish work friend! I've never prayed for patience. There are three things I've always prayed for-Wisdom,Knowledge,& Discernment.(discernment of scripture - not discernment of spirits.)

Has anyone read Warren's Prayer?
Rick Warren's prayer
The Scripture tells us, "Hear, O Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is one." And you are the compassionate and merciful one. And you are loving to everyone you have made.

Get that? "And you are the compassionate and merciful one."
That's right out the Quran & what Muslims quote all the time!

A Christian Mom from Melanie's school told me she was so moved by Warren's speech that she cried.

Hosea 4:6
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you shall be no priest to me: seeing you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children.

Would you like to download your brocure on the Dangers of 'Christian Zionism' from the National Council of Churches?

And to top that off how about attending a "Goth" Church? You can go looking like the Grim Reaper.

THE TIMES LEADER of Wilkes-Barre, PA [Wilkes-Barre Publishing Co./HM Capital Partners] - By Ralph Nardone - December 1, 2008
NANTICOKE -- Churches continually strive to attract fresh faces into their flocks, and one of the challenges they face is getting the attention of younger people who may have turned their backs, according to the Rev. Lou Divis, deacon in charge at St. George's Episcopal Church.

To address this quandary, the church on Main Street in Nanticoke embraced a new approach called the Goth Liturgy on Saturday night at 9. Unlike the traditional Sunday-morning service in which an organist, choir and congregation join in energetic hymns of praise, the Goth Liturgy is more "meditative," Divis said.

The church is dimly light, lined with candles and full of the aroma of burning incense. Gregorian chants from the 12th century and faith-based music from techno bands such as Depeche Mode and Love Spirals Downward played softly during the hymn segments.

The servers were dressed in black robes and the guest celebrant, the Rev. Peter D'Angio from St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Scranton, was clothed in a flowing white robe. The sanctuary had a noticeably more intimate ambiance. ...

The Goth Liturgy took off in England in the 1990s, Divis added, and may gain momentum locally if the congregations grow. Saturday night's service will be followed by several more during Advent season at St. George's, which ends at Christmas, Divis said.

Divis said the present image of Goth comes more from the music the teenagers buy. However, Goth has a steeped European history, which includes a mass conversion to Christianity hundreds of years ago.

The modern Goths are viewed as mysterious and aloof, with their white faces and black attire. The truth is that during the Middle Ages, Goth images were filled with Christian themes, D'Angio said.

Steven Englehart, 20, from Lebanon, Pa., liked the darker, more serene service, saying it provided the right "mood setting." Englehart revamped the church's sound system to pipe in the chants and new-age music. ...

Many local Goths are Christians, Divis said. And, they can feel free to attend St. George's Goth Liturgies adorned in spiked hair, black boots and eyeliner.

MELTDOWN IN ZIMBABWE: A CALL TO PRAYER - from K-House enews

It is easy to grow numb to the suffering in Africa. There always seems to be a famine or pestilence or war there. Yet, this continent is the home of millions of people, people with children, people for whom Christ died. Right now Zimbabwe is in a terrible crisis. The All Africa Conference of Churches declared January 25 to be a day of prayer and fasting for the land of Zimbabwe and has asked Christians around the world to partner in seeking God's face on behalf of this country.

Zimbabwe:
Zimbabwe was once the breadbasket of Africa, a land of plenty that fed itself and its neighbors. Zimbabwe was once a well-developed nation with advanced medical facilities. Now, this southern African country is on the verge of complete meltdown.

The suffering in Zimbabwe is unimaginable. The unemployment rate is over 80 percent. Malnutrition is rampant. People are dying of anthrax after eating the decaying flesh of infected animals. A cholera epidemic is raging through the country and an estimated 37,000 have been infected. Schools are shut down. There are no running public hospitals; they're closed for lack of plumbing and sanitation. Doctors and nurses try their best to help people without running water and few medical supplies. According to the director of one mission hospital:

"A major problem is the loss of life and fetal wastage we are seeing with obstetric patients. They come so late, the fetuses are already dead. We see women with eclampsia who have been seizing for 12 hours. There is no intensive care unit here, and now there is no intensive care in Harare. If we had intensive care, we know it would be immediately full of critically ill patients. As it is, they just die."

Any woman who has ever been in labor can catch a glimpse of the horror. Any father can consider the despair of parents who watch their children die for lack of simple surgery.

The despotic and irrational rule of Robert Mugabe has destroyed the country, yet he refuses give up his death-hold. His supporters continue to threaten and attack people who speak against the government. While a power-sharing agreement was made in September, Mugabe made his true position clear when he said last month, "I will never, never, never surrender ... Zimbabwe is mine."

The churches of Africa ask for our help. January 25th has been set aside as a day of prayer and fasting for the people of Zimbabwe.

AACC general secretary Dr. André Karamaga said, "The call is to join our Zimbabwean sisters and brothers in prayer and in fasting, in words and in deeds, in contemplation and in action."

He continued, explaining that the day of prayer and fasting "is first and foremost a call for all of us to come to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with a humble heart, in sincere love, spending time with him to get in tune with His sovereign plans and visions for his people and for the world. It's about allowing Him to speak and to share His heart that bleeds for the suffering of our world."

Karamaga referred to Isaiah 58 as the key passage for the day of prayer:

"Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet …Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cord of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter - when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here I am." - Isaiah 58:1, 6-9.

While we pray for Zimbabwe, also pray for the Democratic Republic of Congo, where villages are being burned and civilians slaughtered by a marauding rebel army:

DR Congo:
A rebel group that goes by the name "Lord's Resistance Army" set fire to a church full of worshippers in the Democratic Republic of Congo on Saturday. The LRA is well-known for attacking villages, raping women, murdering men, and abducting children to be forced soldiers or sex slaves. Since Christmas Eve, the LRA has murdered at least 620 Congolese civilians and kidnapped more than 160 children.

The LRA's violence has flared up since a cooperative effort between Uganda, DR Congo and South Sudan began to root out this destructive outlaw group. Operation Lightning Thunder has been answered with vicious attacks on civilians. The community where the church was burned is 80 miles from Dungu - the military base of this multi-national offensive against the LRA.

Felicien Balani, an official in Dungu, told Uganda's New Vision newspaper: "The LRA entered around midnight. They surprised the faithful of the church who were in a prayer vigil. They burned them in the church." Survivors tell of people being hacked to death with machetes or beaten to death with bats. Two church members who tried to stop the LRA after two boys were kidnapped had their legs and hands chopped off and were beaten to death.

The day after Christmas, the LRA attacked a village in eastern Congo and over a hundred houses were set on fire. When people fled to a church to hide, the LRA went in and slaughtered them. "The scene at the church was unbelievable. It was horrendous. On the floor were dead bodies of mostly women and children cut in pieces," said Ugandan Army Captain Chris Magezi.

The LRA has been fighting in Uganda for more than 20 years, but now operates mostly out of DR Congo's Garamba National Park.

Please pray for Zimbabwe on January 25, and remember the DR Congo as well. We would covet the prayers of our brothers and sisters across the oceans if we were suffering in their shoes.

I am not planning on jumping on the anti obama band wagon....and I think Farrar did go overboard. His website at times seems a bit Jerry Springerish at times, in my opinion, although there are some great columnists at his site.

I am going to continue praying for Obama re: his leadership position and going to pray for his and his family and friends salvation.

I am concerned about the promotion of the gay agenda. I am not a gay hater, the way so many Christians are, which I find disturbing.
I am a 'love the sinner hate the sin type'. I have family members who are gay. I have friends who are gay. I personally do not think its a choice to be gay.
But promoting it is a whole other thing.
Plus I thought it was an abomination to have a gay parade n Jerusalem.

We must remember that this sodom and gomorah environment, which we are certainly in and moving even closer towards, is just another fulfillment of end time prophecy.

We need to pray more than ever for Him to open people's eyes to konw that He is God and Jesus is the Messiah.

Lisa, you said "Now if Obama just read what I wrote he would think I'm the cause of societies woes & send me to some camp to be reprogrammed so I could reassimilate into society.
January 21, 2009 6:20 PM"

I have a suggestion that might help you in that situation. Just tell him your husband is an attorney and he has proclaimed you as Oracle. That should give any of them a reason to exit and look up a dictionary. In the meantime, get yourself to Okieland and we will find a cave to operate out of for the duration of the time left.

Jim Carroll, remember my dream and the great schism that I saw in it? The land became one tan soil with nothing left of vegetation. Even the rivers dried up and only the deep ravines were left where water once flowed. I never told any of you the end of the dream but I will now. We were all on a very, very high promontory watching what was happening from a vantage point and UNREACHABLE. I had the sense of safety in my watching while the rest of the land was swirling and changing from forest and green vegetation to a co-mingled tan moving from West to East with nothing stopping it.

Just thought you might find some resemblance between the dream and the current political climate we are now in. I really don't know but I know that when the time is right, God will reveal it.

Back to Nate and Lisa: I will not pray that Obama's political agenda be blessed or succeed because I know that is not what Jesus was telling Peter when he was finding the gold coin in the fishes mouth to pay his taxes. No! I am praying that Obama's soul should be saved and until it is, he will be convicted greater than anything he has ever experienced before. That God put a ring of fire around him to keep the World (Egypt) out and that this program to turn us all into reprobate is completely destroyed, along with those who condone it.

Now DONNA, it is interesting that you take the position that being a homosexual or lesbian or bisexual or transgendered is something they were born with. Funny, but having worked with Neurologists, Psychiatrist and Neurosurgeons for many years, they did not find that true. Now some of these men were highly recognized specialists in their fields and their research was extensive.

The preference is personal and most of it is in their minds and it gets into their hearts. Just as regular sin does with everyone that has a heart and a mind. It is a choosing that leads to perversion. There, now I have said the word. God said he would turn them over to a reprobate mind and send them a delusion but it was not to the ones who belong to Christ.

Off of soap box, taking off robe and getting back to work.

Love to all,
Grany

Grany,

I've often wondered about the gay's "born w/it" claim. I suspect there may be some hormonal
tendency but it's still a choice.
Some guys are really swishy & one of my childhood friends was that way. In Christian school the "guys" would call him "gay" but he would swear not & had posters of Brook Shields in his room. I went to his Prom w/him & we have stayed in touch all these years. Now throughout the years I have suspected that indeed he actually ended up gay. I have not come out point blank & asked him but from every indication I've come across he appears to be.** He sends a religious Christian Christmas card every year.

Since I can choose not to have sex with a man-I think a gay person can also choose not to adapt that lifestyle. As the Bible say's if your right eye causes you to sin-cut it off,ect.. So Grany-I agree w/your assessment. They allow the seed to sprout and mature into a lifestyle.

We hear the "I was born gay" so that we feel compassion & accept the behavior as OK. If they are born gay-then there is absolutely nothing they can do about it.

We all know better. There are gay people who find Christ and then have the Holy Spirit power to overcome it.

Also-I don't think I have even known or met another Christian who hates gays.

Being an Interior Designer I've gotten to know quite a few of them. Usually they are pretty fun people to be around. Unfortunately, some of our top male designers have died from AIDS in the past few years.

My TN Friend (Obama lover) daughter is gay. She & her girlfriend as stellar people-as sweet as can be. This has become a stumbling block to my Friend because she realizes if she accepts Christianity then it places a negative connotation upon her daughter's lifestyle.

On the one day I invited my Friend to Church they had a printed bulletin within the Sermon outline which was a program to assist gays
to live a Christian life.

That turned off my friend to the rest of the message & Church for the simple reason her daughter is gay.

She is very excited about Obama now because he is so pro-gay civil rights which will make her daughter's life an acceptable world view. That will in turn lessen what other people feel about "her" having a gay daughter.

Regarding the " born gay" debate. I'll throw another thought in there! My husband's sister was gay for years. Married a woman in the Universalist church. Left that woman due to abuse. Found another woman, set up house. They had two boys together through artificial means but parted ways after over 10 years together. Well, my athiest sister-in-law decided that she really was not gay after all of that and took up dating men. She decided that she loved men and finally found one to marry on line! They have been married for two years. I remember a time she told me she hated men and the idea of a heterosexual life, so she is not considered bi. All very interesting! She had a very messed up childhood that really "helped" her into that gay lifestyle. For her, the lifestyles of each are obviously choosen!

Oh, and Lisa, my hubby has also said and thought interesting things about me when I have spoken of prophecy with him. He actually was upset with me this summer when I began teaching our teen daughter about it all. But, after watching some more news than usual and watching the movie form of Joel R's book, he stopped the sarcasm! He seems to know now, although he hates to discuss it (probably out of fear) that we do not have alot of time left.

Lisa, Shalom! I'd say you're an Oracle. You received a message -- Isaiah 17. Later on, when talking about G_D's Word, you said "Mark my words" ("Thus saith the Lord") three times, and then G_D provided a confirmation through your husband.

I think I'd stay away from Damascus for the next few months...

Hey Lisa, Mark My Words, your hubby is going to get hit with the Holy Spirit and when it happens you can really enjoy the experience. I didn't notice that you had said the same thing as Joe Biden started out his comments with. But that whole article on the link is well worth the time it takes to read it.

JIM C. You know she better stay away from Damaskus and also, Babellon. Yeah, I know I took liberties with the spelling of the names but why not!

I don't know what is going on but it has been almost impossible for me to sit still for any length of time today and when I am reading all of the comments about what is going on and how it relates to scriptures, I get really anxious. Almost to the point of running away. I can't understand it and it is the first time this has happened to me. I am not in the habit of running away from anything.

I just have this terrible dread and I don't like it one little bit. I am really fighting a big spiritual battle, seems like and I don't have a clue what to do. I have forced myself to breath deep, stay put and try to put my trust in God's provisions but it is a battle. What in the world is going on, I don't know. I do know that our new President is really filling up my prayer time, all of a sudden. I actually feel danger is getting very close and of the kind that will require a miracle to avoid or overcome.

It is now dinner time and I am not prepared for it. Now that is a first.

Love you all and please be praying that whatever this thing is, I can be effective in interceding.

Grany,
Thanks for the link, great article!

I was very unsettled last night when everyone was asleep. The Lord seems to get to me best when the house is quiet and all is still. I prayed that He would give me and my family some face to face fellowship with like minded believers very soon. I am concerned that things are really heating up and we have no one to fellowship with or share our lives with that really love the Lord. I kept thinking about how the prophet (who was it, I am sure you all know but I can't bring the right name up to mind) did not know of the other of the Lord's prophets that He had kept safe and hidden when Jezebel was killing them off. I will need to look that up tonight in scripture when it is still and quiet again!

Even my husband has felt a shift and something that is changing with this new president and his administration!

well add another to the Damascus list

I had the opportunity to talk a little with on of my muslim colleagues who was bemoaning the economy etc and the talk turned to prophecy. he is a astonished that I as a scientist could be believe such drivel. he also thinks all religion is bs and all about power and fear. we talked about Christ being the only way and that God hates sin although he does love people. perhaps I've given him something to think about of course I thought of all sorts of great stuff to say after the fact but the whole situation caught me a little off guard to say the least. his nickname is apparently the infidel.
back to the prophecy aspect. he brought up Nostradamus and when I said no real prophecy like Is 17 says Damascus will be obliterated from the face of the planet and there will be a Russian lead coalition against Israel. I will admit to having just read the comments about Damascus but we'll see what happens. He is very difficult to talk to. even when you can present ironclad evidence that action a happened if he doesn't think action a happened because it isn't possible that it happened he will argue the opposite and believe the opposite.

he really has been one of the least supportive docs of me in town and I don't think he had much of a high opinion of me before yet for some reason of all my muslim colleagues he is the one I have the biggest burden for. it has to be God given because otherwise....

Lisa,

I can't help but keep thinking about how your husband doesn't think there is any way same sex marriage will become federal law that covers the whole nation.

What is today? It is the anniversary of Roe v. Wade. Prior to that decision, states could have total bans on abortion. That single ruling overturned all those state laws. The U.S. Supreme Court somehow found a right to abortion in the Constitution.

Liberal judges are constantly finding "fundamental rights" in the Constitution that nobody else ever recognized. That's how I predict this will come about. Someone will challenge one of the state laws in federal court. The federal courts at some level(District, Circuit, or Supreme Court) will find a Constitutional "right" for people of the same sex to be married (or, alternatively that state laws banning same sex couples from getting married deny those people equal protection under the laws -- 14th Amendment claim).

Don't get me wrong. I think that such legal reasoning is terribly flawed. I like how Justice Scalia goes about interpreting Constitutional provisions.

Anyway, unfortunately, I think you are right that it is very likely we will see same sex marriages something that is protected by federal law (probably case law as opposed to a law passed by Congress).

Hmmmmmm, of course, this dying war on terror just may be replaced by something......perhaps a war on America. Maybe a war on Israel.

Can anyone here see the US sitting idly by while Israel's enemies close in? I wonder.....

Diana,

Thanks for the link on the hell birds. Coincidentally, I had read that passage just a few days ago and wondered what that was there for! If you have not read this you should...it was really good.

Sure spoke to me. Abram was sacrificing to the Lord in obedience and the hell birds were trying to make it even more difficult for him. And they were trying to steal his blessing.

I think the blog made reference to a sermon by Steve Hadley at Harvest in Reno about "who is driving"....and coincidently I listened to that sermon online last weekend. Gee, think God is speaking something to me?

Jim C, I neglected to mention how awesome it was to see your face when you were the "voice in the wilderness" in the Pro-Israel rally! Good for you brother! You inspired us all! Praying for your job situation.

Obama vs. Hamas Video

Iranians-death to Obama What are they smoking in those pipes?

Jim G.

My husband is and old time conservative guy. It's really hard to grasp what we are looking at when you don't see the greater spiritual side of the matter.

I also brought up the fact that the libs are trying to have the Constitution re-written to extend the President's term to at least
3-4 terms in office. Something similar to what they are pulling in Russia.

He's comment: "They have been trying to do that for years-it will never happen."

Ok this is how I see this going down. Since I've looked into the Illuminati agenda & we know what the libs have been trying to accomplish the writing is now on the wall.

We have all of these Satanic controlled forces which have so far been "trying" to accomplish their agendas. So far there has also been a force (Holy one) which has kept them at bay from fully accomplishing these things.

I think the restraining force (God's hand) has now been taken out of the way Jan 20th, 2009 in America. In the spiritual realm that is what we are feeling.

God however is not leaving His Children & now can't you feel called to reason w/unsaved people now more than ever before? As America sinks into this dark pit there will be people who will respond to the gospel message. They won't even believe their eyes & will be attracted by the light & truth of God's word. Yet others will not respond but were warned.

We called out for Jesus to return last Rosh Hashanah & we got an answer of 777 and the effects thereof. He's answering our prayers but we all know other events must happen 1st & we are in the midst of those.

I know the stroke of Obama's pen will have a tendency to make us ill-in fact I already fell ill this morning. But we have a great work ahead & the prophets are saying that God will pour out His spirit upon us to get the task @ hand accomplished.

It won't be accomplished through our strength or mind but through the power of the Almighty Spirit of God.

Hey Kathy,

On Prophesy in the News -Thursday update-(it will switch to Fri soon)
JR.Church is discussing Passover this year which is the day that the Jews are looking for Elijah to come.

So "what if" the 2 witnesses are coming soon? Probably Moses & Elijah. Do they have to appear at the exact same time or could Elijah come 1st?

Malachi 4:5 "Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD."

Well if the "Day of the Lord" is the entire 7yr Trib then Elijah will return to the Jews "before" that time.

Of course if the "Day of the Lord" is only considered the 2nd 1/2 of the Trib as some believe then Elijah will appear probably during the 1st 1/2.

Nate:

Gaza war's outcome determined in first 4 minutes

DEBKAfile Exclusive Report
19 Jan.: The Israel Air Force demolished two key Hamas war systems in the first 4 minutes of its massive offensive on Gaza Saturday morning, Dec. 27: six mosques in Gaza City holding the terrorists' biggest weapons arsenals and scores of "beehives" containing launchers primed for automatic multiple launches of hundreds of powerful rockets rigged for precision-targeting Israeli town centers.

Israel's aerial offensive knocked out 80 percent of these rockets and saved Israel's southern cities. Left with only inferior projectiles, 98 percent of the hundreds of missiles the Palestinian terrorists managed to fire in the 22-day war missed their targets.

As to the extreme destruction wrought in Gaza and the high number of casualties, Israel commanders described combat conditions as the most complicated and perilous they had ever faced: Every second apartment building was booby-trapped and every third building concealed arms caches. Weapons were concealed under children's beds and in basements. Instead of fighting out in the open, Hamas gunmen mostly avoided engaging Israeli troops, relying on these death traps.

Monday, Jan. 19, the second day of the ceasefire, the second-echelon of the Hamas leadership emerged from their fortified bunkers after three weeks underground, claiming they had vanquished the Israeli enemy. The top leaders remained invisible. The homeless people picking their way through the rubble for their broken possessions were not exactly welcoming.

(You may be right-the suckers were basically hiding out until the Israeli force pulled out.Now they are back to digging tunnels as fast as naked mole rats.)

Great Grany 5 said...

Maybe it is time for a major earthquake in the Gaza area to close all of their tunnels and restore Israel's trust in God's provisions.

This has been a weird day for me. I woke up at an early hour, spent the time praying in the Spirit and that was the only structured time of the day. Our neighbor across the street from us is the pastor of the local Church of Christ and a very wonderful man. He was speaking with hubby today and told him that he was very concerned about our nation and the times. The pastor told Jim it was time to get his house in order because the darkness was gathering very rapidly and there was no time for putting things off.

When Jim came in the house and related the conversation, it went all over me. Then I knew what was troubling me for the last few days. The seriousness is world wide and Obama is simply filling out the time he was slotted for. Yes, I truly do believe it. Now before anyone gets really upset with me for saying that, just think of the last 50 years and the changes that has taken place in the Body of Christ! Where are our values and where is our hearts to serve Him? We are so much like the world that we are no longer peculiar people and no one made us that way except ourselves. God didn't call us to live and behave like the world; he saved us for fellowship with Him and to be the witnesses while here to the rest of the world. We are so busy and caught up with our own little kingdoms that we spend very little time in fellowship with Abba. The scales are about to come off of our eyes so that we will begin to see Him as he really is and not some far fetched theory man has created.

I have a little sign on my dining room wall that has this saying on it:
"Marriages are made in heaven....but then so are thunder and lightnings". Today that little saying has a lot more meaning for me than usual. God is Love but he also controls the thunder and lightening. He is our all in all but he also has the ability to remove all of the things that keep us from him. I would rather praise him than hide under the bed in fear and trembling. I can't and I won't be put into a fearful frame of mind by the likes of things I have no control over but I will and am receptive to complete all that God has intended for me and this life.

If our new president is hell bent on destroying every freedom we have, I can fight back the only way I am authorized to: pray! If that means getting up at 3 a.m. every morning to get a head start on the kingdom of darkness and its demise, so be it. I will just take a nap in the afternoon and get right on with life.

JIM C. That article on the fault line in southern Arkansas and connecting to Tennessee is a little too far south of us and very much too far east. The geological makeup of our area runs more along the line of Interstate 40 and intersects with U.S. Hwy 69 north and south. There are several faults and plate distortions in the Tenkiller Lake area to our northwest and the Kerr-McGee navigation system on the Arkansas River, which is southwest, to cause us innumerable troubles. Both of those systems produce electric generation and are flood controls for the Arkansas River.

My thinking of what Jim heard is that instead of an earthquake, which there is no documentation to substantiate happening, was actually something happening in those regions. If that is the case, then a small seismic event could happen in the near future. Below us about 30 miles is the beginning of the Ouachita Mts. That name is pronounced "Wash a tah". If that fault line in southern Arkansas that you listed were to spread westward, then that range would be affected greatly. Mostly flint rock and sand stone composite and land slides and shifts are quite common. A whole highway section fell off during the 1980's and Talihina was more or less isolated for quite awhile. Very pretty country and lots of wonderful caves to take refuge in. Did you know snakes have very little to do with caves. Might at the opening but not further in. Just for your information.

Well, this has to do it for tonight. I am going to bed so I can be alert early in the morning.

Love to all and blessings,
Grany

You'll have to tell me what you think of this. I dog eared this page of the "Heavenly Man" book & thought it may have some application for us. This is brother Yun speaking:

"We have also come to understand that the past 30yrs. of suffering, persecution and torture for the house churches in China were all part of God's training for us. The Lord has perfectly fitted us to go as missionaries to the Muslim, Buddhist,& Hindu worlds.

Once I spoke in the West and a Christian told me, "I've been praying for years that the Communist government in China will collapse, so Christians can live in freedom.” This is not how we pray! We never pray against our government or call down curses on them. Instead, we have learned that God is in control of both our own lives and the government we live under. Isaiah prophesied about Jesus, "The government will be on his shoulders," Isaiah 9:6

God has used China’s govt. for His own purposes, moulding and shaping His children as he sees fit. Instead of focusing our prayers against any political system, we pray that regardless of what happens to us, we will be pleasing to God.

Don't pray for the persecution to stop! We shouldn't pray for a lighter load to carry, but a stronger back to endure! Then the world will see that God is with us, empowering us to live in a way that reflects His love and power.

That is true freedom!

(I'll be the 1st to admit- I've been so spoiled being raised in America I must be a real wennie!

Yes, I have been "spoiled" by growing up in America but God has blessed me and lots of others with these dear brothers and sisters across the world who we can learn loads from! I think we all should read brother Yun's book and pray the Lord will prepare us for those things which are to come to us here in the USA for I hear that the Chinese Christians have been asking the Lord to let us endure persecution here so that we may grow in Him! I certainly do not want to face (nor have my children face) that kind of persecution but it has been shown that the church does grow during such events and that Jesus is glorified. We certainly don't see Him glorified through our preachers who preach all of this prosperity and all of the false signs and wonders/gold dust/angle orbs!
Thanks Lisa for sharing the book!

Lisa,

We really can't identify I think with the persecution Chinese believers face. I'm thinking there are probably not very many tares in the Chinese churches because of what it can cost you to follow Christ. I'm putting my thoughts back into the church when it was so young, when Paul was a persecutor, prior to his dramatic conversion. Satan immediately began his onslaught against Christ's followers since he failed in preventing Christ's death which he knew would bring redemption to mankind. But the Lord has declared He will build His church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it! I think the Chinese believers have the correct mindset about their government and how to pray for it. I think it is biblical. With my understanding of scripture teaching us that Christ will return for His elect during the greatest persecution against His beloved Israel and His followers, I think America is headed for such persecution as well.

As far as the two witnesses, if we take Rev. 11:3 at face value, they appear together for they are both granted authority and will prophesy for 1,260 days. And if you define the DOTL as God's wrath and the great persecution as Satan's wrath, and Satan's wrath begins at the AofD, and is cut off by God's DOTL wrath, I see the two witnesses appearing at the midpoint of D's 70th Week. This would allow Elijah to come before the DOTL.

I hear the moans so I'll stop!

If we look at Europe & what is happening there-it may be a preview for what will happen to America.

That country is much smaller so that may play into things but it's the Muslim population that is taking over there is having a great effect on things.

When did they "fall away" from Christianity? It was a gradual process was it not? They wanted to show their open-mindedness & lack of racism so the borders were opened to all & the Muslims poured in.

Now that the Muslims have gradually taken over the country-the Europeans who have no Christian backbone-just appease everything they do so they don't have to deal w/it.

Meanwhile there is an anti-Jewish sentiment brewing up there. Look at this blog:

It will come from an overwhelming societal view encouraged by our ecumenically confused President.

The Ecumenical Apostasy in America will continue to replace true Biblical Christianity as something society will tolerate. Meanwhile true Biblical Christianity will be considered "outdated" and a

Eventually true Christianity & the Jews will share a common bond in the world's hatred for them.

GRACE, you hit it on the head with the link about Sequoyah County. Someone on that blog remarked that they thought the sound could be F-16 jets doing maneuvers out of the Arkansas National Guard but all of the F-16s were relocated to foreign soil and replaced by the A10 or Wart Hogs, that are low level bombers and tank busters that are used for troop support. Wart Hogs are not capable of supersonic speeds so, unless these sonic sounds are being produced by jets out of Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City or even possibly, according to hubby, flying from anywhere in the US to practice a mission type assignment. Of course, Tinker isn't the base for super sonic jets anymore. But that is all pure conjecture about the source of the noise. What hubby described was more like low short burst of thunder and not sonic booms. The two sounds are not even close. But, there is also Camp Gruber and there is this info about that Camp.

If we wait long enough the truth will emerge about the source but as long as it is not an earthquake I am fine with it. Just a mystery.

You know, I would love to believe that this problem the world is facing, regarding the credit mess, is going to be overcome. However, one of the phases of the coming of Jesus Christ is the failure of all the world governments. Not meaning the One World Gov but each individual country. Why would this happen? Because believers have put their trust in Government instead of God. Another idol, so to speak. What ever else we depend on to answer or take care of us becomes our manifested idol. That is kinda scary you know and I am sitting here seeing one dependency after another flash past by.

Social Security, Medicare, insurance policies, cars, electricity, gas, and the list goes on. But those are just the things of life as we know them. Does that mean they are also idols? I am thinking on it.

"Don't pray for the persecution to stop! We shouldn't pray for a lighter load to carry, but a stronger back to endure!"

My view is that we will probably not experience the type of persecution that the east has endured unless this country goes totally socialist or worse. I think we will become more "politically correct" to the point that any dissenting view (Christianity) will be outlawed. Much the same as it is with "global warming" and other correct views.
If the "deceiver" cannot force or coerce us to his ways he will infiltrate and do it from the inside. We have seen these things coming for decades now in this country. The bottom line though is the outcome is the same. I think deception is much more effective in western countries than outright coercion or force. Just my thoughts.

Here is brother's Yuns experience w/the western Church:

"Before I traveled to the West I had absolutely no idea that so many churches were spiritually asleep. I presumed the Western church was strong and vibrant because it had brougt the gospel to my country w/such incredible faith & tenacity. Many missionaries had shown a powerful example to us by laying down their lives for the sake of Jesus.

On some occasions I have struggled while speaking at Western churches. There seems to be something missing that leaves me feeling terrible inside. Many meetings are cold & lack the fire & presence of God that we have in China.

In the West many Christians have an abundance of material possessions, yet they live in a backslidden state. They have silver & gold, but they don't rise up and walk in Jesus name. In China we have no possessions to hold us down, so there's nothing preventing us from moving out for the Lord. The Chinese churches like Peter at the Beautiful Gate. When he saw the crippled beggar he said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have to give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk!" Acts 3:6

In a similar way, I pray that God might use the Chinese church to help the Western church rise up & walk in the power of the Holy Spirit. It's almost impossible for the church in China to go to sleep in its present situation. There's always something to keep us on the run, and it's very difficult to sleep while you’re running. If persecution stops, I fear we'll become complacent & fall asleep.

....When I'm in the West I see all the mighty church buildings & all the expensive equip., plush carpets & state-of-the-art sound systems. I can assure the Western church with absolute certainty that you don't need any more church buildings......The first thing needed for revival to return to your churches is the Word of the Lord. God's Word is missing. Sure, there are preachers & thousands of tapes & videos of Bible teaching, but so little of it contains the sharp truth of God's Word. It's the truth that will set you free.

Not only is knowledge of God's Word missing, but obedience to that Word. There's not much action taking place.

When revival came to believers in China, the result was thousands of evangelists being sent out to all corners of the nations, carrying fire from the alter of God with them. When God moves in the West, it seems you want to stop & enjoy His presence & blessings too long, and build an alter to your experiences.

You can never really know the Scriptures until you're willing to be changed by them.

All genuine revivals of the Lord result in believers responding w/action & soul winning. When God truly moves in your heart you cannot remain silent. There will be a fire in your bones, like Jeremiah, who said, "His word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot." Jer. 20:9

Furthermore, it's only when we step out in obedience & share the gospel w/people that they come to know God’s blessing in every area of our lives. (Philemon v.6)

I've seen people in Western churches worshipping as they're already in heaven. Then someone invariably brings a comforting message like, "My children, I love you. Don't be afraid, I'm with you." I'm not opposed to such words, but why is it that nobody seems to hear a word from the Lord like, "My child, I want to send you to the slums of Asia or the darkness of Africa to be my messenger to people dying in their sin"?

Multitudes of church members in the West are satisfied with giving their minimum to God, not their maximum. I've watched men & women during offering time in church. They open their fat wallets & search for the smallest amount they can give. This type of attitude will never do! Jesus gave his whole life for us, and we give as little of our lives, time & money we can back to God. What a disgrace! Repent!

.....Just because you have a church building doesn't necessarily mean Jesus is with you. He is not welcome in many churches today. In Rev 3:20 Jesus said, "Here I am! I stand @ the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice & opens the door, I will come in & eat w /him, and him with me."

Often this verse is used as an invitation for salvation, but actually the context Jesus was speaking in was very different. He was standing outside the door of the church in Laodicea, knocking to get in!

Of course not all Western churches are asleep! Of all the strong churches I've visited in the West I've noticed one thing they all have in common: a strong and sacrificial commitment to missions among unreached nations......

In Finland in 1999 I was asked to be one of the main speakers at a conference......The main speaker was a well-known American preacher. Every time he spoke it was about the love & goodness of God. During the prayer time everyone fell down on the floor & laughed.

After I spoke I commanded people to kneel down at the foot of the cross of Jesus, and they wept! Tears always come before the Lord truly moves. He will never pour his blessing out on unsanctified & selfish flesh. The cross of Jesus must be at the center of everything we do.....

In China, the greatest miracles we see are not the healings or other things, but lives transformed by the gospel. We believe we're not called to follow signs & wonders but instead the signs & wonders follow us when the gospel is preached. We don't keep our eyes on the signs & wonders; we keep our eyes on Jesus.

Every house church pastor in China is ready to lay down his life for the gospel. When we live this way, we'll see God do great things by his grace.

This is what James says about the coming of the Lord and persecution. Sounds to me like he too equates the Lord's coming with both salvation or deliverance from persecution (for believers who are in Christ) and the wrath of God or his judgment poured out on the world.

7Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord's coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains. 8You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord's coming is near. 9Don't grumble against each other, brothers, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!
10Brothers, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11As you know, we consider blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job's perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

From John Stott's book "Basic Christianity"

1. You shall have no other gods before me.

This is God's demand for man's exclusive worship. It is not necessary for you to worship the sun, moon and the stars to break this law. We break it whenever we give to something or someone other than God himself the first place in our thoughts or our affections. It may be some engrossing sport, absorbing hobby, or selfish ambition. Or it may be someone whom we idolize. We may worship a god of gold and silver in the form of safe investments and a healthy bank balance, or a god of wood and stone in the form of property and possessions. None of these things is necessarily wrong in itself. It only becomes wrong when we give to it the place in our lives which belongs only to God. Sin is fundamentally the exultation of self at the
expense of God. What someone wrote of the Englishman is true of everyman: He is 'a self-made man
who worships his Creator'.

For us to keep this first commandment would be, as Jesus said, to love the Lord Our God with all our heart and with all our soul and with all our mind; to make his will our guide and his glory our goal; to put Him first
in thought, word and deed;in business and leisure;in friendships and career;in the use of our money, time and talents;at work and at home. No man has ever kept this commandment except Jesus of Nazareth.

What is this "Satan's Wrath"? After he tries to get the Jews & turns to the Christians instead?

It seems as if the "key" to the timing is defining the Day of the Lord. The Pre-Tribs have it at the start of the 7 years while the Pre-Wraths don't.

The symbolism of the Bride & Groom wedding feasts & the hiding of the Bride & such in Jewish tradition allude to a 7year time period. I would have to say Perry Stone has the best teaching on this I've seen.

When I read the seal judgments which are in the 1st part of the Trib (right?) they appear absolutely horrific. So bad in fact I would consider it severe judgment. It's not the full blown of God's wrath but if we didn't know there was even worse coming I would consider it to be horrendous.

So then maybe it won't be as bad as allot of us envision? Who knows I guess. But-if we see things shape up & realize the 70th week has started then I'm certain the Pre-Tribs will modify their views.

At least the Pre-Tribs w/full oil lamps. The half-hearted lack luster types will probably fall apart because they did not prepare their hearts for enduring war, plagues, famine & death. Not to mention a billion people die during the 1st four seals.

**I am glad to see even in my Pre-Trib Church people are being prepared to expect/endure persecution.

I told him we'll come back to wherever God wants us to place us & we won't just come back to living life as usual but we will have jobs to do in which we will serve our Lord. The Bible mentions something about Kings & Priests & that our bodies will be glorified.

He then asks-you mean I'll look like I did when I was young? (Then goes onto describe his Adonis-like former physique. **That was before I knew him-oh,rats! But he constantly brings up his former greek god-like body which has always made me nuts.)

I told him how much God hates pride (read some Proverbs) and if that the next time around if he would retain that pride in is former physique that this time God would send him back down to earth ugly. (:

Okay, that was an awkward moment in church today! I've been reading about following Jesus.

In church the pastor took a poll. He asked for a show of hands of those who would be willing to sell everything they have and follow Jesus, if he asked them.

I was the only person who raised a hand. I was being honest. I know that whatever I give away always comes back and that God will always take care of me, even if everything else was taken away.

But when no one else raised their hands, the pastor said, "See, you're all being honest."

I wanted to scream outloud that I would follow Jesus to the ends of the earth and back!

Could it be that those killed are the ones mentioned in Rev. 12:17?

Kathy, Lisa, Mac, and Alesia,

I suspect that you four will be most interested in this long post (although others of course are welcome to read and respond as always). When we were heavily engaged in our discussion regarding OSAS, Kathy said (on January 17, 2009 at 1:17 PM):

I just read Romans 9 and 10. I see Romans 9 as salvation from God's perspective...verse 16 says it does not depend on the man who wills or the man who runs, but on God who has mercy. Then I see chapter 10 as salvation from man's perspective...in verse 13 Paul says "whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved." According to chapter 9 God determines who the "whoevers" will be. Does anyone else see this?

Kathy, I have to admit that Romans 9 and 10 seem to make a strong case that it is God who determines who the “whoevers” will be. I’d like to submit another view of those passages that I believe is more accurate and in harmony with the whole of Scripture and what we know about the character of God. Interestingly, this relates to eschatology in at least two ways. (1) as already pointed out, the Bible tells us that there will be a great apostasy or falling away in the last days. So, insofar as these passages help us to understand whether a true Christian can fall away, it relates to that aspect of the last days. (2) It addresses Israel and the fulfillment of God’s promises about Israel.

I must admit, the OSAS conversation we had helped me to realize there are at least three different positions that Christians embrace. There maybe more, but there are at least these three:

1.) True Christians can lose their salvation if they don’t persevere in the faith and remain in Christ.
2.) People have the freedom to accept or reject Christ, but once they do, they are eternally secure and cannot lose their salvation.
3.) All of us are spiritually dead to begin with. Thus, we can do nothing (not even choose to accept Christ) in regards to our salvation. God initiates it (on those who are elect in Him) and he of course finishes that which He starts. Man cannot choose Christ and true Christians cannot reject salvation once it is given to us.

I think those in #3 above would be considered Calvinists. Those in #1 and #2 would not be considered Calvinists. Obviously, #2 has a little bit in common with #1 and a little bit in common with #3. Of course only #1 is the position most consistent with the whole of Scripture. (Just kidding. Well, I do believe that but I acknowledge that people in each of the three camps above think their understanding is most consistent with Scripture.)

OK, are you ready for this commentary on Romans 9-11 that I find very helpful (and a good response to Kathy’s original comment)? It's so long I think I'll do it in two parts. But it's good! (at least in my opinion)

I especially like the last 2 paragraphs.

PART 1 of 2

The Significance of Romans 9-11

Proponents of the doctrine of the doctrine of unconditional election presume to find in Romans 9-11 (especially 9:6-29) complete confirmation of their contention that election to eternal salvation is without respect to anything in men. Many seem to have approached Rom. 9-11 with the assumption that Paul’s purpose in that portion of his letter to the Romans was to expound the theological doctrine of the sovereignty of God. Not so. His purpose was to answer an urgent question which disturbed Jewish believers everywhere, of whom doubtless there were many at Rome.

In the days of the Apostles, the Gospel of Christ was truly “to the Jew first.” Wherever the Apostles went, it was customary for them to enter the synagogues and preach the Gospel firs to the Jews of the community. Many Jews became believers, and assemblies which were predominantly Gentile usually had strong nuclei of Jewish converts. This was the situation at Rome. Writing to believers at Rome, Paul addresses them sometimes as Gentiles (1:13-15; 11:13 ff.) and sometimes as Jews (2:17 ff.; 4:1 ff.; 7:1 ff.).

Having reached a glorious climax in his consideration of the cardinal questions of sin, and of salvation, justification, and righteousness by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, Paul turns to a consideration of the present circumstance of Israel—a question of utmost concern for Jewish believers. They had accepted Jesus as the promised Messiah and now anticipated the fulfillment of the Messianic promises concerning Israel—perhaps soon (Acts 1:6, 7; 3:19-26). But grounds for their hope seemed to be fading. Why the delay? Had Israel been cast away? Were the glorious promises of God to the fathers to be ignored? More and more, it seemed either that the promises must fail, or that Jesus was not really the promised Messiah. The question was of more than academic concern. Doubts arising from incomplete understanding and nourished by disappointment threatened to destroy the faith of many. It was a vexing question among Jewish believers everywhere, and one which required a firm and positive answer. Paul doubtless had often met the question elsewhere, and he now writes at length to answer it for Jewish converts at Rome. Let us consider a brief analysis of his answer:

1. [9:6-13] God’s word has not been proved ineffective. There is an “Israel” within Israel—even as, historically, only the descendants of Isaac and Jacob were reckoned as the children of the covenant-promise, to the exclusion of all other descendants of Abraham.

2. [9:14-31] God is sovereign and therefore has the right to do as He pleases with individuals and nations. He is free to bestow favors on some, and to deny them to others, without becoming answerable to any creature. This absolute sovereignty extends to Isaac and Ishmael (vv. 7-9), to Jacob and Esau (vv. 10-13), to Moses (vv. 15, 16), to Pharaoh (v. 17), to all other individual men (vv. 18-24), and, collectively, to Israel and the Gentiles (vv. 25-31). God, as sovereign, ha an absolute right to make of the common lump of humanity some vessels to honor, and others to dishonor; some for wrath and destruction, and others for mercy and glory. He has an absolute right to say of Israel, “not my people.” It is not fro men to call God into question. (To do so is not only presumptuous; it is positively dangerous, since such an attitude is incompatible with faith. Hence the sharpness and vigor of Paul’s reply to presumed objectors.)

3. [9:30-10:21] Israel’s failure to “arrive,” however, is not at all due to some absolute unconditional decree arising arbitrarily from the fact of the sovereignty of God, without respect to anything in men. The cause of Israel’s present frustration is their own unbelief and disobedience. They have only themselves to blame. God continues to stretch forth His hands towards them, but in vain.

4. [11:1-6] Actually, despite the allegations of some, God has not cast away His people. Even though Israel, nationally, is “not my people,” God still has His remnant in Israel-after-the-flesh. Paul, himself, is one among them (11:1). As in past generations, God has His “Isreal” within Israel. Jewish believers in Christ constitute His present remnant in Israel and are of the election, not of works, but of grace.

5. [11:7-10] The present hardening of Israel, nationally—far from being the consequences of an arbitrary act of God in casting them off (11:1, 2)—is the consequence of their own failure to obtain the righteousness which they sought. Their failure (as Paul has affirmed, 9:31-10:21) stemmed from the fact that they sought righteousness by their own works, rather than by faith, thus stumbling over Christ, whom they found an offense. Their stumbling and consequent hardening were foretold by Isaiah and David (as well as others).

6. [11:11, 12, 15] God is able to turn Israel’s present lapse to good account, both for he immediate proclamation of salvation among Gentiles, and for the ultimate recovery of Israel herself. Having accomplished good through their lapse, god will multiply blessing for all nations through the recovery and restoration of Israel.

7. [11:13-24] During the present lapse of Israel, nationally, the salvation of individuals, both Jews and Gentiles (10:12, 13), remains a separate and distinct consideration, entirely independent of the question of the circumstances of Israel, nationally. It is evident from vv. 14, 23, 24 that the ‘hardening” of “the rest” (as distinguished from “the election,” v. 7) is not the consequence of an arbitrary decree of unconditional reprobation; it is not absolute, but only relative.

8. [11:25, 27] The recovery and restoration of Israel, nationally, is certain in the purpose of God. They will again become “my people” (9:25,26).

9. [11:28, 29] Even in the present era of national unbelief, while “enemies concerning the gospel,” Israel-after-the-flesh is still beloved for the fathers’ sake, and God’s promises to the fathers will yet be honored and fulfilled.

10. [11:30-32] God’s constant sincere purpose is to have mercy on all, both Jews and Gentiles, and includes any and all individual men, as they believe (10:12, 13; 11:20-24).

PART 2 of 2

The Significance of Romans 9-11

Many have failed to recognize that Paul’s consideration in Rom. 9:6-29 is the question of the circumstance of Israel, rather than the personal salvation of individual men, and that his argument serves only to affirm that God, as a sovereign Creator is free to order all things as He pleases and to bestow or deny favors as He chooses without becoming answerable to men—a truth which Paul earnestly desired to establish in the minds of Jewish Christians who were profoundly disturbed over the question of the circumstance of Israel and in danger of denying the wisdom and righteousness of God. Paul asserts only the inherent freedom of God, as a sovereign Creator, to act without becoming accountable to His creatures. Gut this must not be construed to mean that God is not governed by moral principles inherent in His own holy character and that He is at liberty to be arbitrary and capricious. God is governed in His actions, not by the judgment of His creatures, but by the moral integrity of His own Person. Those who have assumed that Rom 9:6-29 affirms that God is merely arbitrary in His dealings with men, including the unconditional choice of some to salvation and the arbitrary consignment of others to perdition, have misconstrued the passage. They have also ignored much that follows in Rom. 9-11 and the consistent testimony of the Holy Scriptures, including categorical assertions that God wills to have all men to be saved and does not will that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Liddon comments: “Throughout this section (ix. 6-29) no attempt is made by the Apostle to harmonize the absolute Freedom and Omnipotence of God with man’s self-determination and responsibility. For the moment, the former truth is stated with such imperious force that the latter appears to be quite lost sight of: and the necessity for this ‘one-sidedness’ of statement lay in the presumption entertained by the Jews, that in virtue of their theocratic position God must be gracious to them. Without attempting to determine the relation of interdependence which exists between Divine and human freedom, (secured by the truth that the former is ruled by God’s essential Sanctity and is consequently conditioned by moral facts on the side of man), S. Paul passes on to consider the other side of the phenomenon before him, viz. the responsibility of the Jews themselves for their failure to attain the [righteousness of God].” (H.P. Liddon, Explanatory Analysis of St. Paul’s Epistle to the Romans, p. 174.)

The Bible affirms both the sovereignty of God and the freedom of the human will. Many have insisted that the two truths, as revealed in the Scriptures, cannot be reconciled. But the irreconcilability which they have insisted upon exists, not between the two truths as revealed in the Scriptures, but between the Bible’s categorical assertions of the freedom and responsibility of men and the unwarranted conclusions which many have drawn from certain passages in which the human factor simply is not affirmed—conclusions which are but groundless assumptions.

The sovereign God who is free to order all things as He pleases has declared that He is pleased, by the foolishness of preaching, to save them that believe (I Cor. 1:21); that He is pleased with the faith of men who diligently seek Him (Heb. 11:6) ; and that He takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked (Ezek. 33:11; 18:20-32), but wills to have all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth (I Tim. 2:4), not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (II Peter 3:9).

Jim G,

While we all will probably remain in our positions, I thought I’d go ahead and give you my thoughts…

I think chapter nine in Romans is applicable to individuals since in verse 24 Paul includes the Gentiles as well.

With so many verses that call believers chosen, with those that say it is not the will of man but God’s, and with the verses that talk about the “whosoevers”, I see the “whosoevers” as determined by God. We all have earned death, He is merciful to some, drawing them to Himself, the remaining will receive what they earned. This doesn’t compromise God’s character in my mind.

God desires unashamed good news bearers. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Those whom God has chosen He will draw by our giving them the good news of Jesus Christ. Let’s be faithful witnesses, unashamed of the gospel!

In Mt. 24:9 Jesus tells us that during the time of the great persecution many will fall away. (I place this falling away with the unprecedented persecution Jesus says will occur after the AofD because Jesus uses the word, “therefore” in verse 15, which connects the two thoughts, and in verse 10 He says, “at that time”.)

In Romans 8:29-39 we find Paul discussing both issues, election and the security of the believer…God’s elect will not be separated from God by persecution. In verse 33 Paul asks the question “who will bring a charge against God’s elect?” Persecution is on the list of things which will not separate God’s chosen from God.

Therefore, I see the falling away during the time of the coming great persecution as a revealing of tares, the look-a-likes, and look-a-likes were never the genuine thing. Persecution will separate the wheat from the tares. I see these as the ones who will take the mark and those who take the mark according to Rev. 14:10 will drink of God’s wrath.

Those who walk away or fall away now here in America where there is no persecution, I think the gospel never took firm root and I understand it to be the Holy Spirit that determines the condition of the soil. Those who are His and do not walk close to Him, the Holy Spirit will give them unrest…I know…from personal experience.

A busy day ahead…Rejoice in the Lord today my friends!

I can see pre-destination make sense w/a replacement theology mindset.

If how God dealt w/Israel in the past was completely cancelled out & He changed His personality-then I can see it. But-if God still deals w/people in the same manner then it doesn't make sense.

He didn't "keep" all the Israelites from falling away & acting in disobedience. They always had a choice & fell away time & time again. I would say this reoccurring behavior became wearisome after awhile & now we have the Church Age to our benefit.

Now in our own time the Church is in quite a state of complacency & disobedience. After He's had enough of our nonsense & falling away-then its back to working on Israel.

Even though we recognize Christ as the Messiah-we are no more obedient than the Jews-in fact probably worse.

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" 2 Tim 3:16

ever wonder what Paul really meant by that. I've always been told that at face value it means the whole Bible is inspired, and even the genealogies fall into this category. While that is indubitably true it actually has a different meaning if Dr Frucht is accurate which since he was an orthodox Jew at one time he very likely is accurate.

According to Rabbinic tradition the scripture that we know as the OT does NOT all have the same theological weight or importance. That pesky little saying I've always wondered about-according to the Law and the prophets that one sees mentioned in the NT gospels has its root in this tradition.

The Torah or the Law, the 1st 5 books of the Bible is according to Rabbinic tradition the direct word of God. Moses received it from God directly and therefore it is indisputable as the word of God. it has the most weight because Moses received it from a direct face to face meeting with God.

The Prophets are next. They are God's word's to men, not obtained face to face as with Moses but rather as Author to scribe. Still carries quite a bit of weight with religious instruction although less than the Torah.

Then come the Writings which constitutes everything else. They are man's interpretations of God's thoughts, not directly inspired or given by God and therefore are not considered on the whole as reliable for doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness.

so it has nothing to do with genealogies but rather rabbinic tradition.

And according to Frucht if one wants to effectively witness to religious Jews one must use the Law first, then the prophets and lastly the writings to point to Christ and dispense with the NT altogether. So the Law is considered a primary source, the Prophets a secondary source and the Writings a tertiary source. Considered in this matter, the first overt mention of Messiah suffering and dying (that has any theological weight with religious Jews), according to Frucht, is Is 53. Which has interesting implications regarding the salvation of OT saints. what precisely did they believe in to get salvation? IF Frucht is correct it was NOT looking forward to Christ's work on the cross since Isaiah 53 wasn't written until about 500 years before Messiah came.

just something interesting to consider

Jib,

I'm sure in your precise theologically studied mind it doesn't so on technicalities you’re correct.

But to one who does not have the same background as you it has some similarities.

Replacement Theology- the Church(specifically) has been chosen to replace the Jews.

Predestination- specific people are chosen to replace everyone having a chance for salvation.

If you believe that the Church has replaced Israel then why would one bother comparing how God dealt w/the Jews in the past to the relationship He has w/the Church now? It would not be natural to make those parallels as the Jews have been shunned by God & replaced by a "new deal"-the Christians.

If you believe the Church has not replaced Israel but is rather "grafted into" their relationship w/God then it makes sense to spend more time researching the similarities between the two as God is the same-yesterday-today & always.

(The Old law vs. Christ & the New Covenant has changed but God's personality & how He relates to His creation does not.)

So maybe you can answer this. Is Calvinism the author of the "Pre-destination" belief? Does Calvinism have anything to do w/replacement theology or have they always believed that Christians never replaced the Jews?

(**I know the expert on this is Jacob Prasch.)

"I will bend Judah as I bend my bow and fill it with Ephraim. I will rouse your sons, O Zion, against your sons, O Greece, and make you like a warrior's sword" (Zech 9:13).

In the early church there was an emphasis on developing a heart toward God. This was the Hebraic way. The scriptures were not accessible like they are for us. So, the relationship with God was the key focus. God related to his people on a personal and intimate level. And obedience was the key to a healthy relationship with God. Decisions were not made based on reason and analysis, but by obedience. "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom" (Ps. 111:10).

This is why many of the miracles performed in the Bible went against natural reason, (i.e. feeding five thousand, crossing the Red Sea, retrieving a coin from a fish's mouth, walking around Jericho to win a battle, etc.) God constantly wanted to check the leader's obedience, not his knowledge. Knowledge and reason came into the early Church with the Greek scholars in subsequent centuries. This is when the church began to affirm oratory skills among Church leaders. Gradually, over many centuries the focus on knowledge and reason has become more accepted in the Church.

Loss of intimacy with God has been the fallout as a result of the influence of the Greek spirit. The primary focus has been teaching and discipleship instead of the development of a personal and intimate relationship with God. This has resulted in a form of religion, but one without power.

In the early church, the rabbi was there primarily for quality control, not as the primary teacher and speaker. He did not even address the people from an elevated platform. The whole congregation was in a more circular format, each sharing what they believed God was saying. The focus was on the power of God working through each individual, not one individual (1 Cor. 14:26).

Is your focus on gaining more knowledge or growing in intimacy and power with Jesus? He desires to know you intimately

Lisa, Shalom! Excuse me if I'm a little confused. I spent a couple of hours last night working on a reply to your posting of January 25, 2009 3:41 PM. Apparently, I never bothered to post it. (sigh)

You wrote:

Pope Benedict XVI challenged world leaders on Thursday to make major changes to the global financial system, saying short-term answers to the financial crisis weren't sufficient.

(Looks like the Pope & Rome will be instrumental in bringing the One World Govt. system together.)

You really need to do some research about what the Vatican has been saying for the last 10 years or more about the "global financial system." In short, the Vatican has been preaching against the practices that have lead to the existing financial crisis. I'll leave it to you to do the research about what the Vatican has been preaching these last 10 years.

BTW, how are you coming on the research for all that stuff I posted on Jan. 18?

GT,

I had also read this same idea from the Jewish perspective-and it wasn't Frucht. It may have been written by a Rabbi or Prasch but is something helpful to know when witnessing to Jewish people.

Being raised in their traditions & actually having relatives so close to actually "speaking" w/God-I can see why they would hold that view.

I'll stick w/the "All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" 2 Tim 3:16 (As nothing is impossible w/God & just because He wrote it through the inspiration of men does not make it any less divine.)

Maybe Allan would know-so when he pops back up we can ask him.

Hi Anonymous, well to the blog.

You said "something about Obama scares me."

Don't be afraid but instead have faith in God and pray for Obama to become a true child of God. But for that matter, that all hearts be made aware of the truth of Who God really is.

We all have our concerns about this era that we are living in and we understand the times are just as dangerous as the enemy of our souls can make it.

Could I please ask you a favor? We all have names here at Mr. Hyde's place and it would sure be nice to have one for you. Would you consider just taking a name for yourself and it doesn't have to be your real name. It just makes it more real to talk with you rather than "Anonymous". Thanks for dropping in and hope you will continue.

The current financial crisis-well it's the pits & certainly contributing to the speed at which the "Global" Govt. structure is forming.

But it's actually this very setup of the "One World New Order" that Christians have been watching out for-for years & is now in hyper speed mode. It appears that the Vatican will play a role in its fruition-will it begin by the "global financial" recommendations it makes? I guess we'll find out soon enough.

It's commendable that the Vatican would try to prevent the economic meltdown if that's the case but now that we are already in the midst of it - what's next?

Is the Vatican going to push for Global resolutions? If so it's being used in this process of the ultimate NWO. You can't deny that the Vatican is extremely politically involved. (at least I think not.)

I'm waiting for peace & quiet to go over the Jan 18 material. My mom's visiting right now-but when she leaves & I have the kids in bed then I'll tackle it. Right now I can get away with sporadic blog thoughts but I want to be able to really concentrate when I read it.

One of my bad traits is that when I'm in full concentration mode I don't want to be interrupted or bothered. I'm somewhat like a nippy Chihuahua. RRRrrrrrrr

Good Evening everybody.

I don't believe I have ever posted on this blog before, but I have been visiting periodically.

I noticed that someone mentioned Ray Stedman. When I was a teenager, I had friends who were menbers of Ray's church. I lived over on the east side of the San Francisco bay area, but spent many weekends with these friends. I so enjoyed Pastor Stedman. He is a delightful teacher. I took several of his Bible Study courses also over the years. Can hardly wait until I meet him again on those heavenly shores. I relistened to his sermons on Romans just recently. You will really be blessed if you are able to listen to the complete study.

I think that some of you may just zero in on the messages that discuss the OSAS topic, due to the past discussion of this subject, but you will be cheating yourself if you don't start from the first sermon.

Hi Mary Emma,

Thank you for this information.
I think I will do exactly what you suggested and listen to Ray Stedmans teachings on Romans, starting from the beginning.

I spent a little time today listening to one of his teachings from the same site you linked to, the same one that Grany linked to earlier.. www.pbc.org but jumped to romans 9 think i will start at the beginning

Just curious, how did you find this blog?

Donna,

You don't know me, but I used to read Joel's old blog. I think I posted a few times, but I'm not really a blogger. But, I love to read several blogs to find out what the Body of Christ is thinking and doing.

I went to Joel's blog and noticed that he had disabled his comments section. I still read his blog though. He keeps me up to date on the Middle East.

Then one day as I was parading through my Favorites, I ran across some blogspots that I had added to my favorites and noticed that on some of them there was an invite to this blogspot. So, I put it into my favorites also. I took a look here and read a few blogs and their comments. I didn't really remember very many people from Joel's blog, but a few. So, I take a look-see every once in awhile.

I'm home recuperating from foot surgery so I've been doing a lot of Bible Study while I've got all this extra time that I don't normally have.

I read the Rapture Ready Forum once in awhile too. I love tracking prophecies, and am so looking forward to hearing that shout.

I think you will really love Ray's sermons on Romans. I'm going to Galatians next.

Well, I think I'll take a look at Rapture Ready before I go to bed.

Keep the Faith!

I received a request for prayer today from a friend. An aquaintance of their son is pregnant with twin girls and received some grave news regarding them. Below is the text of their notes. I'm sure after reading, you can understand the gravity of the situation.

-Anyway – it was all in all an interesting day – as for the babies, they confirmed a few of the things that Philly saw, explained why they didn’t, couldn’t confirm other things, and then I talked to them about what my next step is. The reality is – I mentally cannot terminate this pregnancy, and that is because they can’t tell me exactly what is wrong with Baby A – she has what is called a Dandy Walker Variant in her head – but the spectrum is so broad – it could cause something as slight as ADD or a developmental delay – or it could cause noticeable mental retardation – she does have club feet too – they were very noticeable – but they can be fixed. So, how can I justify terminating the pregnancy when she has fixable and manageable issues? I can’t do it – they do fear that my 3rd trimester – which I will start in 2 weeks – will be the worst – they say that is when they will grow the most, and the smaller one might not be able to compensate for her size when she is suppose to be growing and that could cause her to pass, and the heart strain could be too much on Baby B which might make her pass. Baby B they are worried about because her lungs can’t grow – her heart is taking up too much room in her chest so her lungs can’t develop – and if she can’t breath on her own when she is born she can’t have surgery……so it’s just a day by day thing now – and I’m going to try to get my mind in a good place – I don’t know what the future holds for these girls – if any -but God must have a plan – now I just have to figure it out……Erin

From her friend Steve: The subject of termination was brought up by the doctors in PA once they went through all of their tests. Kansas is the only state in the U.S. that will perform such a procedure this late in the pregnancy but, as you can see above, that is no longer an option as far as Erin is concerned. So, she is in pain every day with contractions, she now has pregnancy carpel tunnel and has to wear braces on her arms at night, (which I had never heard of), and all the while having to take care of a very active 3 year old by herself. I am over at her house pretty much every day helping where I can, but she has a long road in front of her with not a very bright future being painted for her. As she stated, we just take it day by day….

I will forward all prayers listed here to encourage their family.

LORI, tell her that God does not have a baby dump and these babies are in His hands. Praying and meaning it for perfect babies and blessings to flow.

Now for the awaited news from Okieland! Good morning my fellow bloggers. Good news from Oklahoma and Eastern Arkansas as winter is finally putting its' teeth into the ground and freezing all of those nasty little buggers. With the ground, trees, wires, and all manner of physical things that man puts on this wonderful planet covered with ice, the world around here is shining brightly. No sunshine but the reflection of the lights that are still on are making everything shimmer and shake. We have been receiving all of the moisture we could possibly want in the form of freezing rain that is turning to ice immediately upon landing. The preciousness of electricity and all those good resources are being highly prized this morning by all of those who are fearing loss of power.

Now, my bible tells me that it is not by might nor by power, but by His Spirit says the Lord, so I am engaging Him to keep us up and shining brightly. We were supposed to have at least 1.5 inches of the frozen goo by this time today but you know what I have told you before about pleading the blood, it still goes, as far as I am concerned. So, last night when hubby was bemoaning the danger of losing our electricity and subsequent things related to it, I asked my Abba, could you please just turn the heat up a tad above freezing so that all of the old folks, and young'uns won't be exposed to being too cool and down hearted? If you could see a picture of the radar that we have going here, you would see a large elongated circle of green appearing right smack dab in the middle of all the pink. From the county line of my location over to and including Ft. Smith,AR, it is raining but the temps are 33 and 34 and not freezing. For those who are not familiar with the weather maps, the pink is for freezing rain and the green is for good old healthy rain.

I tell you all, I love how my Abba takes care of us when we ask.

Mary Emma, I like your name and I too love Ray Stedman's teaching. You were greatly blessed by the opportunity you had to attend his classes. Good for you!

Love to you all and keep your lights on,

Grany

GT
no I posted that because that verse has always puzzled me to an extent and I was never really satisifed with the answer of well that just means the geneaologies are inspired also. I find it fascinating that the verse in all likelihood refers to the fact that rabbinic tradition held that not all scripture was equally valid. Frucht's point is that if you are going to effectively witness to a Jew one needs to know their frame of reference. A non religious Jew you might me able to approach in any fashion but a religious Jew would be a different matter all together. You would need to know that they wouldn't consider the Messianic Psalms to be as valid to prove that Christ fulfilled the requirements of Messiah as say Isaiah. As to the word redeemer-that doesn't necessarily require death and suffering if one considers the kinsman redeemer concept found in the book of Ruth. and Again, Ruth while written earlier than Isaiah is part of the writings which religious Jews by rabbinic tradition do not apparently consider of equivalent weight to the Law and Prophets.

I am not a "red letter Christian" and I don't think the OT is replaced as such by the NT either. I think it is a matter of progressive revelation which btw is also a foreign concept to religious Jews also.

Replacement theology and covenant theology predate Calvinism by a bit. they actually came from the Catholic church and St Augustine. The thoughts may have preceeded him but I do believe he codified that. One must also remember that Luther was trying to reform the Catholic church;it was never his intent to start a whole separate movement. Calvinsim in part came about because he didn't think Luther went far enough although they did keep some things such as infant baptism (more on that later).

Also predestination and free will has to do with soteriology which is the doctrine and study of salvation. Theology concerns the doctrine and study of God, Christology concerns the doctrine and study of Christ etc. Certaintly ones thoughts in one area can and do influence ones thoughts in other areas. In fact I am currently wading through Israelolgy-the doctrine and study of Israel which is a synthesis and review by Frucht (it was his doctrinal dissertation and when published was 2200+ pages) of covenant/replacement theology and how it impacts their view of Israel along with a review of dispensationalists and how it impacts their view of Israel. He uses the words of covenant theologians to explain what they believe, both past and present, but it is slow going. I would note however that Charles Wesley certainly the pre-eminent apologist of free will was also a covenant theologian. With the exception of those groups who were part of the Anabaptist movement (Baptist, Brethern for example) ALL believe in covenant theolgoy irrelevant of their views on salvation. Covenant and replacement theology actually have a far larger impact on eschatology than soteriology. The one area where there is a difference is that those who don't ascribe to covenant theology recognize in some fashion that there will be a national salvation of Israel to fullfill prophecy in the OT. Covenant theologians believe that those prophecies are spiritually fulfilled in the church and that there will be no national salvation of Israel in the future.

Much of predestination came from a literal reading of those verses that say God predestined us for salvation written by Paul in the first century. Whether one likes the concept of predestination or not it is scriptural and does seem to indicate that God does do the choosing. The difference between Kathy and I for example is that she believes in a specific personal predestination while I believe in a more general predestination. Free will is also as clearly taught in the Bible as predesintation. So obviously both are true and for one to say predestination is wrong and that it is all free will is wrong as is saying that there is not free will involved in coming to God-both are clearly taught. i would submit that since we are unable to fully reconcile what a appears to be two completely opposite thoughts that we must have an imperfect understanding of both. Both are clearly true.

Replacement theology holds that the church has replaced Israel but I would note that they completely disregard the actual physical promise of land to Abraham's descendants and focus only on the spiritual. They also in general don't hold to progressive revelation-the Abrahamic Covenant establishes ownership of the land but the Mosaic covenant establishes possession of the land. Not the same thing. One can own something and not possess it. The Davidic covenant expands on the other two and so on. Covenant theology holds that the New Covenant Christ established completely replaces and supercedes the OT covenants (it fulfills the Law and expands the promise to the spiritual Jews but doesn't replace covenatn promises to the nation of Israel. not the same thing). Circumcision is replaced by infant baptism. In doing so they disregarded the fact that circumcision was a mark of national identity not religious identity-there were plenty of people in the OT described as Jews by virtue of their circumcision who were obviously not religious or spiritual Jews and right with God. Infant baptism confirms one's place within the new Israel but since the church is a spiritual entity and not an ethnic identiy there is a breakdown in comparison and application.

that's all for now. have to get to the office.

On Monday's Prophesy in the News-there was a Economic expert on speaking of the eventual outcome of this financial mess. He said the Obama administration injected another trillion + into the system but this will only serve as a temporary patch & down the line the outcome will be far worse.

We have 2-5 years to get our "house in order" before the stuff hits the fan. I'm curious to see what he recommends to do so I bought the book & will let you know if it's good. (This will be my 1st "Economic" type book)

He's probably still on there for awhile if you want to watch it.

Hi Lori,
I will certainly pray for your friend and really want to share so much encouragement with her about these issues she's facing. I have personal experience with so much of what she is facing, especially the drs. recommendation to terminate the baby which doesn't "look" healthy. For us, that would have been our little spitfire Lauren and today (right now actually) she's downstairs bossing the boys around and making them pick up the toyroom before we have storytime. I, too, dealt with the quandry over letting the triplet pregnancy take it's natural course (about 10% end in miscarriage with all babies being lost, many more result in preterm labor with prematurity issues affecting the babies and with my small stature the doctors told me I'd never carry trips long enough for a good outcome) versus making a decision that on paper put us in better odds for having healthy twins. I wrestled with it for about a week but in the end put all my eggs (embryos, really) in God's basket because I knew I could eventually find peace about losing 3 babies but I could not say the same about choosing to end 1 baby's life. In the end, Lauren disproved everything that was predicted about her and all 3 kids are perfectly on track and healthy (they were born at 30 weeks).
Through the months of the high-risk pregnancy and NICU experience, we have come to know countless other families who have been given similar recommendations (I think it's standard procedure to offer the option of reduction for triplets+ these days) and other families who have been given very serious diagnoses for their singleton/twin babies. I can't tell you how many times the utero diagnosis has not borne out once the baby is born. (Not always, of course, but in many many cases that we know of.) And that doesn't even touch on what God can do through prayer once a disabled baby is born! I'm currently praying for a baby who was born with major heart defects and in the last 6 months, every one of her problems that was to require surgery has been remedied. She was on a heart transplant list when born but now is down to a checkup every 3 months for a few lingering issues! There's a really great blog I came across that is written by the wife of the lead singer of the group Selah. Angie and her husband lost a baby this past year and she has been blogging about it. There are many other women who are also blogging there or who have links there with critical pregnancies and it's been such an inspiration to read their stories of faith and commitment to their children. The blog name is 'Bring the Rain.' I highly recommend it for your friend. At the very least, it will give her a sense of community in this difficult time when things can seem so lonely. Angie also responds to people who post there and she posts prayer requests for all her readers so it would be an instant prayer group for your friend if she shared her needs. The site is audreycaroline.blogspot.com

Also, I had terrible pregnancy-induced carpal tunnel and let me tell you, that is a part of pregnancy that I hope to never revisit. I can't imagine caring for a preschooler with that pain. I'll be offering extra prayers for that alone!

Let us know how she is doing and what areas of prayer we can offer.

Blessings,
Jen

Shalom, all! I'd like to add my my own request to the prayer list.

This morning I learned I have Type 2 diabetes. I went in to be tested because I experienced a major change in my glasses prescription, and the optometrist didn't want to fill the script until after I'd seen my doctor. When the Dr. called last night and told me the number, it was just a number to me. It was only when I spoke with my ex-wife this morning on another matter and I mentioned by blood sugar that I learned how serious my condition is. I believe her reaction, though crude, is appropriate.

She: You got your diabetes test back? What's your blood sugar at?
Me: 500-something or other.
She: (pause) Holy F*ck!
Me: What should it be?
She: 100!

At 11:00 this morning, my blood tested at 570. (My ex's reaction: "Did you eat a pound of taffy before going in?") I've been put on medicine, and just have to wait and see if the medicine is effective. For those who don't know (*I* sure didn't!), Type 2 Diabetes is where your pancreas is producing enough insulin; however, for some reason your body had developed a resistance to your own insulin. Insulin is needed to get your body's cells to accept the blood sugar.

I go in to have my blood sugar tested every day for the rest of the week to see how the meds are doing; and I go in to the Diabetes Class at the hospital on Friday. For now, I'm just going to lay down for a while and read the Bible.
