"Thou shalt guide me with Thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory."

"Thou shalt guide me with Thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory." —Psalm 73:24

C H Spurgeon

The Psalmist felt his need of divine guidance. He had just been discovering the foolishness of his own heart, and lest he should be constantly led astray by it, he resolved that God's counsel should henceforth guide him. A sense of my own folly is a great step towards being wise, when it leads me to rely on the wisdom of the Lord. The blind man leans on his friend's arm and reaches home in safety, and so would I give myself up implicitly to divine guidance, nothing doubting; assured that though I cannot see, it is always safe to trust the All-seeing God. "Thou shalt," is a blessed expression of confidence. He was sure that the Lord would not decline the condescending task. There is a word for me and I should rest in it. I can be assured that my God will be my counsellor and friend; He shall guide me; He will direct all my ways. In His written Word I have this assurance in part fulfilled, for holy Scripture is His counsel to me. Happy am I to have God's Word always to guide me! What were the mariner without his compass? And what would I be without my Bible? This is the unerring chart, the map in which every shoal is described, and all the channels from the quicksands of destruction to the haven of salvation mapped and marked by one who knows all the way. Blessed be Thou, O God, that I may trust Thee to guide me now, and guide me even to the end! After this guidance through life, the Psalmist anticipates a divine reception at last—"and afterward receive me to glory." What a thought for me! God Himself will receive me to glory—me! Wandering, erring, straying, yet He will bring me safe at last to glory! This is my portion; I will live on it this day, and if perplexities should surround me, I can go in the strength of this text straight to the throne.

Once again thank you, Jib for the suggestion.

We started the study of Revelation on Sunday night.

The pastor brought up an important piece of information. The church is mentioned about 20 times thru the end of chapter 3. It isn't mentioned again after.

We go bye-bye! Yeah! This solidifies my belief that we're out of here prior to the trib.

If anyone wants to hear the first chapter study, you can go to the website and listen get the podcast

Frucht says that what the book of revelation does is to tie all the OT prophecies into a whole instead of scattered and without a timelne. the only new material according to him are the first 3 chapters and then the last 2 chapters. eternity was not a concept that the OT folks had necessarily a concept of.

Grany, Shalom! I wouldn't get your knickers in a knot over that Russian Electromagnetic Device report. For it to be able to generate a pulse of "several billion watts", you need a power source capable of generating a pulse of "several billion watts". At present the only device capable of generating a pulse of that much power is a nuclear device.

This strikes me like the old Soviet Union, which regularly exagerated its scientific claims to the point where people simply stopped believing them. This was frustrating to the space scientists, because they really did make some very amazing discoveries.

Now, a portable EMP generator would be an advance, but I doubt it's of the power noted in the news article.

Ah, then you might be interested in these two recipes. I dug them up after I was getting ribbed on another end-times site about my love of dates.

Date Cake (Eggless)
This is excellent with the buttercream icing the author links to. Even though the recipe says to soak the dates in warm milk overnight, I'm afraid I soak the dates in milk in the refrigerator. I just can't stand the thought of leaving milk on the counter overnight, even if it is just soaking the dates. To make this pretend to be healthier, I use omega-3 oil. I also leave out the pecans and walnuts because I just don't like nuts in my cakes.

Fondant Stuffed Dates
This is a GREAT Christmas/Thanksgiving recipe! It's too rich to justify at any other time of the year! One thing I do is run the "1/2 cup finely chopped pecans" through a blender to turn them from "finely chopped" to "VERY finely chopped, almost a powder". You still get the pecan flavor, and after rolling the dates in granulated sugar, you don't get the "chopped nut" texture (which is what I really object to.)

JIM C.. You can come to my house anyday and spend it with me cooking up a storm. So as not to rock your boat, I have to tell you that the date recipe is an oldie because I have made that one from the 50's on up. Would you like to have my recipe for Carmels that kings die for?

Or how about my runny chocolate pie that tastes like fudge? Or how about........ this could go on forever folks!

NATE that is vry interesting about the Hurricane Ike but you have to all be praying because my daughter Becky, is running back and forth in Texas at this very time, getting food supplies ready for the evacuation flow coming into San Antonio and they are all working very, very hard right now. I have only been able to talk to her once today and it was very short. She is a Manufacturers Representative and Sysco (food distributors) has enlisted her help in getting things organized and flowing in this new emergency.

But the thought of the storm going into that area is worse than just that. They are suffering from a drought and the ground is hard as brick. If this storm hits it will be almost certain instant flooding with the inability of the ground to soak up water fast enough.

We need to pray that God would break up the storm and send it to nothing.

Thanks for explaining the meaning of Ike's name too. Adding to my little book of interesting info.

I just said good-bye to my sister and thought I'd pop in and say hi before I get started editing wedding three. I haven't looked in for quite some time and have no idea what is being discussed!

A question for those who believe the church is gone by Rev. 4. Who are those "who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus" in Rev. 12:17?

The churches that are mentioned in chapters 2 and 3, we know that not all are believers, correct? The church is full of tares, right? If the church is here when the great tribulation hits as I believe it will be, it makes sense to me that instead of referring to His Body as the church (in which tares now reside) during the great tribulation, Christ refers to His true followers - the true church - as those who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Just some food for thought.

Wilma, I will pray with you that the Lord brings Ike to nothing! He is able!

Mac, "flat out", is that an Aussie way of saying really busy? Thanks for passing my greetings along!

Here's something else you can add to the story. We went to the oncologist today, much to Geoff's begging me to cancel it. He doesn't want his cancer markers tested anymore because it just brings us down and it doesn't serve any purpose since the medical profession has nothing to offer him for treatment. We have been praying about this and were prepared to tell them we didn't want his CEA (cancer markers) checked anymore. After talking to his oncologist for a while, he did a physical exam on Geoff. He listens to lungs (they were clear), checked all his lymph glands, and palpated his abdomen for build up of fluid or rigid liver. His conclusion was, as he said, by looking at him and examining him physically, he has no reason to believe that Geoff's cancer is progressing! And, he believed that even if Geoff went back to the experts in Wake Forest, they would conclude the same thing. He also said that we could continue to do CT scans and check his markers, but those were only tests on paper and he saw no reason to do them because they would serve no purpose. He also told us that Geoff had far exceeded his expectations! WOW! Then he wanted to know what alternative care we were following because he is interested in alternative cancer treatment (miraculous) and he invited us to some meetings in Asheville about alternative care that the cancer people are researching. He said it would probably be very elementary for us, but maybe we could share some of what we are doing and what we know! WOW! (another miracle). The doctor then said that he would do some blood work on him to check his liver and kidney functions just to check and see what is going on because of all the herbs and stuff he is taking. We agreed that would be a good idea. Needless to say, we came away today very encouraged, for the first time.
Thanks for all your prayers,
Beth

Lori-so glad to hear an upbeat report about Geoff!

I wasn't sure if this quake was posted: '200 villages destroyed' as quake hits Iran

I'm 1/2 way though "Temple at the Center of Time", by David Flynn.

I think Jim C.,Harold,& Nate might like this one. (Am I the only female who appreciates this type of thing?)

It provides a great backdrop of Sir Isaac Newton. Interesting to know how much he studied theology and end times concepts.

There were people throughout time who were searching to find a "key" to mathematical divine truths or "prisca sapientia"=lost pure knowledge.

So basically the book goes onto say that Newton did actually find this although it couldn't be understood until the our time-the invent of satellite technology to calculate nautical mile distance from the point of the Temple mount to various cities.

The mathematical proportions of the Temple and of the Arc of the Covenant were not arbitrary.

You can't believe how much the number 2520 and 360 and 7 play into the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation. (The people of the ancient days already had calculated the circumference of the earth & moon-now proven correct by our advancements in technology.)

Now what I just read is that the author believes he knows were the the location of the Ark of the Covenant is. He debunks the other theories via the info found in the Bible,Torah, etc. about timing & who had it last.

I don't normally read Maccabees (Now I have to find my Catholic Bible)-and in 2 Maccabees 2:4(also the Septuagint & Vulgate) it explains that before the destruction of Solomon's temple by the Babylonians in 587 BC,the Ark was hidden by the prophet Jeremiah in a cave at the base of Mt.Nebo in the Pisgah range of Jordon.

The texts explain that the Ark's location would not be recovered until the Jews were brought back to Israel following the Diaspora.

I don't know what this is-it's a pseudepigraphic book (?) 2 Baruch, written near the 1st century, which repeats when the Ark would be recovered:

"Oh earth...guard them[the temple vessels & the Ark] until the last times, So that, when thou art ordered, thou mayst restore them, So that strangers may not get possession of them. For the time comes when Jerusalem also will be delivered for a time, until it is said, that it is again restored for ever."

Jerusalem rests on a hill 2520 feet above sea level. A measuring line extended directly towards the east from the foundation stone on the Temple Mount to the north slope of Mt. Nebo is 25.20 nautical miles.(The glory-shekinah of the Lord came in the East Gate and also departed out the East Gate)

The auther states "The most important point in these associations is that the Ark itself represents Jesus Christ."

He mentions that people question concerning the exposure of the location of the Ark, if this calculation is correct. He thinks it's reasonable that God would not provide information to find the Ark, unless it was part of His divine plan.

I have not read the next chapter yet but he thinks the Holy of Holies was located under the Dome of the Spirits. (I think Jim C. brought this up as well.)

(The Kabba Stone in Mecca Saudi Arabia to the Temple Mount is 666 Nautical Miles.)

**There is so much more but thought many of you would like some tid bits of info.

jim.carroll said...

Lisa, Shalom! I probably would find "Temple at the Center of Time" interesting, but there's just one big problem that I would have a hard time getting past: Why would the Lord base all these measurements on some arbitrary measurement that is used by a civilization that began centuries after the Second Temple fell? I mean, using Nautical Miles instead of Statute Miles, c'mon?

The Book of Baruch is part of the Septuagint, so it's accepted in the Catholic canon. Baruch was the scribe of Jeremiah. Chronologically, it's placed after Lamentations and before Ezekiel. However, 2 Baruch is not part of the Jewish or Catholic canons. It was written in the Syriac language in the late 1st Century or early 2nd Century AD. It's also known as "The Apocalypse of Baruch." It might be useful for historical research, but I'd be cautious about using it for anything else.

BTW, if you are interested in checking out the Deuterocanonical books (Baruch, 1 and 2 Maccabees, etc.) go to www.usccb.org/nab/bible/, which has the full text of the New American Bible online. It doesn't have any search functions or anything like that, but it makes the books available with footnotes if you're interested.

"I don't have time right now to write here all of the overwhelming evidence that supports the pretrib rapture, but no thinking person can possibly think otherwise when presented with the entirety of it. It truly is overwhelming.

I will just mention a few things to shed light on her specific question as to who those are in 12:17. First of all, obviously immediately after the church is raptured there will be thousands of left behind skeptics who will understand the truth because they will have been told beforehand by their loved ones what was going to happen. Obviously a spouse who has conversed with their believing spouse about the rapture will become a believer when the believing spouse instantly departs. Therefore, from minute one after the rapture the earth will be populated with new believers.

Also, by chapter 12 God will have drawn to Himself hundreds of thousands (or millions) of new believers. Consider that God sends out an army of 144,000 evangelists in chapter 7. Following that, in chapter 11, the two witnesses come on the scene. Obviously those two giants of God will convert a whole lot more than any Billy Graham crusade ever has.

So by 12:7 there will be a multitude of true believers who obviously will "keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus." And many thousands of them will be martyred for doing so. They will be much stronger Christians than many of us today, by a long shot."

Alf Cengia said...

Well said, Lori. I also believe that the 2 witnesses are in the first half of the week, not the latter as some argue - for a variety of reasons as put forward by John Whitcomb.

The Two Witnesses: First or Second Half of the Tribulation?

The witnesses: Rev 11:10 Those living on earth will gloat over them, celebrate, and send gifts to each other, because these two prophets had tormented those living on earth....

If the witnesses are in the second of the week the nations would hardly be celebrating under the full wrath of God. I have read many scenarios put forward by those who argue for the latter half, but none of them address the problems that Whitcomb brings up.

Rev 11:6 These witnesses have authority to shut the sky in order to keep rain from falling during the days of their prophesying. They also have authority over the waters to turn them into blood and to strike the earth with any plague as often as they desire.

That also sounds like they are bringing down the wrath of God - at least in my opinion.

Jim C. and Lisa,

I think you'll both find this interesting!

The same question popped into my mind. So, I started to dig a bit deeper regarding the origin of the nautical mile.

Wikipedia says:
A nautical mile or sea mile is a unit of length. It corresponds approximately to one minute of latitude along any meridian. It is a non-SI unit used especially by navigators in the shipping and aviation industries.[1] It is commonly used in international law and treaties, especially regarding the limits of territorial waters. It developed from the geographical mile.

So, it is based upon the size of the earth which of course the Lord determined. Man broke up the circle into 360 degrees. But what about 360? I believe that is actually based upon the approximate time it takes the earth to go around the sun. Of course, we know it is not exactly that but I found something very interesting about that as well.

It all relates to God and how He established the sun and moons for the seasons. So, time and space (length) obviously relate to one another. Both relate to prophesy and the Lord beause He established order in both!

Now, check this out. It will blow your mind.
Bible-Prophecy Year of 360 Days

Bottom line is that the nautical mile is based upon time and length measurements that God established when he created the earth and sun and determined the earth's orbit.

Those nautical mile measurements look much less arbitrary and man-made than I first assumed!

What a great site you found on the calendars! The book does go through some of these calculations but the detail is beyond my mental abilities. I'll have to read though this site very slowly-in hopes more will sink in.

The book begins w/building up the foundation (in some major calculations-which is not my forte but I'm trying to "get it.") before the rest of his findings are
fully mentioned in detail.

We were created by a mind blowing God so we shouldn't find it too far fetched to discover that these cities were created at a specific point from what some have called "The center of time"(where the Ark rested) on the Temple Mount.

I'm pretty sold on this after what is presented in this book. It's harder for me to believe it was not planned by our Divine Creator and merely a coincidence.

**I'll come back & post some more great stuff later--(If you can't tell I'm a little worked up now!)

jim.carroll said...

Jim G.,

Wow.

I had assumed that G_D would have used something like the meter, which is one-ten millionth of the length of a line going from the equator to one of the poles. This would have made the measurements based on something G_D created. I had no idea the nautical mile was also based on G_D's creation. What's more, the creation of the meter was tied to the French Revolution, as a way of divorcing G_D from science.

The other thing I like about "360" is that it's evenly divisible by the first three prime numbers (2, 3, and 5), which means it's evenly divisible by any combination of those three numbers (i.e., 2*3*5 = 30, 360/30 = 12; 3*5 = 15, 360/15 = 24, and so on).

I agree with what you said: Those nautical mile measurements look much less arbitrary and man-made than I first assumed!

New Post @ Joels As I was driving though town I was wondering why so many American Flags had been put out.9/11-da.

More interesting info about Napoleon:

"As a military & political stragetist, Napoleon had few equals. His design for governing nations was shrewd and in come cases, opportunistic. Several years after the battle of Acre, Napoleon wrote,

"My policy consists in governing men as the greatest number wished to be goverened. That,I think, is the way of recognizing the sovereignty of the people. By becoming a Catholic I have ended the Vendeau War;by becoming a Moslem I gained a footing in Egypt; by becoming Ultramontane I won over the public opinion of Italy. If I goverened Jews, I would rebuild the temple of Solomon.

(Hey-an resemblance to what the Anti-Christ might become before he shows his true nature? Part of it sounds like Obama.Morph into anything for political aspirations.)

In Napoleon's life he thought that he was fullfilling prophecy in Daniel. On the fist day of Passover, April 20,1799, Napoleon issued his proclamation of a Jewish state of Palestine. The proclamation did not come to fruition probably because it was premature in God's timeline.

"The former minister of the interior, Count Chaptal, worte in his memoir, Souvenirs, that he witnessed an argument at a dinner he was attending w/Napoleon, Cardinal Joseph Fesch, and the Archbishop of Lyons. The Cardinal was also Napoleon's maternal uncle." In his memoir:

"At the time that Napoleon had brought together the Jews for the Sanhedrin in Paris, I attended one day at his dinner where I was witness to an astounding exchange. Cardinal Fesch rushed into the room w/a very worried air about him that struck the Emperor. "What is the matter?" he said. "What I have is easy to understand," said the Cardinal. "And why?" retorted the Emperor. "Do you not know," answered the Cardinal,"that the Scriptures fortell the end of the world when the Jews are recongized as consitiuting a nation?" I and the guests were inclined to laugh; But the Emperor changed tone and he seemed worried. He rose from the table, went into his study with the Cardinal, where he remained conversing for over an hour. The next day the Sanhedrin was dissolved."

It's 1799 Nautical Miles from the Temple Mount to "City Island" Paris France where proclaimations of Israel's independence were made by Napoleon in 1799.

(If they become that worried back then if the Jews were regathered back into a Nation-what should that tell us now? I wonder what they tought about End Times-the end of the world only? Or what we look forward to the return of our Lord Jesus? Obviously they didn't want it to happen in their lifetimes while we all look forward to it.)

This was posted at the Omega Letter by a member. I take it that it's a true story:

I just wanted to get the day over with and go down to Smokey's for a few cold ones.

Sneaking a look at my watch, I saw the time, 1655. Five minutes to go before the cemetery gates are closed for the day.

Full dress was hot in the August sun.

Oklahoma summertime was as bad as ever -- the heat and humidity at the same level -- both too high.

I saw the car pull into the drive, '69 or '70 model Cadillac Deville, looked factory-new. It pulled into the parking lot at a snail's pace.

An old woman got out so slow I thought she was paralyzed. She had a cane and a sheaf of flowers, about four or five bunches as best I could tell.

I couldn't help myself. The thought came unwanted, and left a slightly bitter taste:

'She's going to spend an hour, and for this old soldier...my hip hurts like hell and I'm ready to get out of here right now!'

But for this day my duty was to assist anyone coming in.

Kevin would lock the 'In' gate and if....I could just hurry the old biddy along, we might make the last half of happy hour at Smokey's.

I broke Post Attention. My hip made gritty noises when I took the first step and the pain went up a notch.

I must have made a real military sight; middle-aged man with a small pot-gut and half a limp, in Marine Full Dress Uniform, which had lost its razor crease about 30 minutes after I began the watch... at the cemetery.

I stopped in front of her, halfway up the walk.

She looked up at me with an old woman's squint. 'Ma'am may I assist you in any way?'

She took long enough to answer. 'Yes, son. Can you carry these flowers? I seem to be moving a tad slow these days.'

'My pleasure Ma'am.' Well, it wasn't too much of a lie.

She looked again. 'Marine, where were you stationed?'

'Vietnam, Ma'am. Ground-pounder. '69 to '71.'

She looked at me closer. 'Wounded in action, I see. Well done, Marine, I'll be as quick as I can.'

I lied a little bigger, 'No hurry, Ma'am.'

She smiled............. and winked at me. 'Son, I'm 85-years old and I can tell a lie from a long way off. Let's get this done, might be the last time I can do this.

My name's Joanne Wieserman, and I've a few Marines I'd like to see one more time.'

'Yes, Ma'am, At your service.'

She headed for the World War I section, stopping at a stone. She picked one of the bunches out of my arm and laid it on top of the stone. She murmured something I couldn't quite make out.

The name on the marble was; Donald S. Davidson, USMC, France 1918.

She turned away and made a straight line for the World War II section, stopping at one stone. I saw a tear slowly tracking its way down her cheek.

She put a bunch on a stone; the name was; Stephen X.. Davidson, USMC, 1943.

She went up the row a ways and laid another bunch on a stone; Stanley J. Wieserman USMC, 1944.

She paused for a second, 'Two more, son, and we'll be done'

I almost didn't say anything, but, 'Yes, Ma'am, Take your time.' She looked confused. 'Where's the Vietnam section, son? I seem to have lost my way.'

I pointed with my chin. 'That way, Ma'am.' 'Oh!' she chuckled quietly. 'Son, me and old age ain't too friendly.' She headed down the walk I'd pointed at. She stopped at a couple of stones before she found the ones she
wanted.

She placed a bunch on Larry Wieserman USMC, 1968, and the last one on Darrel Wieserman USMC, 1970.

She stood there and murmured a few words......I still couldn't make out.

'OK, son , I'm finished. Get me back to my car and you can go home.'

'Yes, Ma'am. If I may ask, were those your kinfolk?'

She paused. 'Yes, Donald Davidson was my father; Stephen was my uncle; Stanley was my husband; Larry and Darrel were our sons. All killed in action, all Marines.'

She stopped, whether she had finished, or couldn't finish, I just don't know.

She made her way to her car, slowly, and painfully.

I waited for a polite distance to come between us....... and then double-timed it over to Kevin waiting by the car. 'Get to the 'Out'- gate QUICK! I have something I've JUST got to do.'

Kevin started to say something, but saw the look I gave him. He broke the rules to get us there down the service road. We beat her. She hadn't made it around the rotunda yet.

'Kevin.... stand to attention next to the gate post. Follow my lead.'

I humped it across the drive to the other post.

When the Cadillac came puttering around from the hedges and began the short straight traverse to the gate, I called in my best gunny's voice: 'TehenHut! Present Haaaarms!' I have to hand it to Kevin, he never blinked an eye; full dress attention and a salute that would make his DI proud.

She drove through that gate with two old worn-out soldiers giving her a send off she deserved, for service rendered to her country, and for knowing Duty, Honor and Sacrifice.

I am not quite sure, but I think I saw.......... a BIG salute returned from
that Cadillac!

Instead of 'The End'.... just think of 'Taps'

Women Drugged, Sexually Assaulted in 'Prayer Sessions'

The Coptic Church is the native Christian church of Egypt, and has a doctrine similar to the Greek Orthodox and Russian Orthodox churches.

Bailey said both women come from religious families and were raised to follow the Orthodox faith, which includes a belief in the evil eye — a glance believed to harm those on whom it falls.

"We believe this was a major reason why they were persuaded into believing they were cursed," Bailey said.

My daughter Becky is working in the Ike arena this week, getting provisions organized and delivered to the shelters in San Antonio and parts in between Houston. Please keep her in your prayers. I really do appreciate the fellowship and friendship of everyone here. It is real easy to become involved in our own cares to the point of distraction but you have no idea how much I enjoy all of our conversations and discussions. We are all like one of those big old fashioned quilts that used to be on every bed in the winter. Everything from harsh wool to plush velvet and denim, all sewn together with bright yellow or orange thread in big stitches but never the less, held together and mighty to keep everyone warm. They also made great ground covers for picnics, band concerts and just about anything else you could think of.

lisa,

That is some very interesting information you posted on the David Flynn book. I have had my eye on ordering this book for awhile, but amazon.ca (the Canadian version of amazon.com) hasn't even released it yet. I also order a lot of books from amazon.com, but I see that this book doesn't ship for 1 to 3 weeks. What if Mark Blitz theory is correct? The book could arrive after we have been raptured. What good is it going to do me then? :-)

Speaking of Mark Blitz, atty sent me the following great link to a website that gives some fascinating information about the significance of the Jewish feasts etc.:

Bible Prophecy Corner

Here is an excerpt:

THE FEAST OF TRUMPETS

In the Old Testament, Nu. 10:1-4 says, "the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Make thee TWO TRUMPETS of silver; of a whole piece shalt thou make them: that thou mayest USE THEM FOR THE CALLING (miqra, REHEARSAL) OF THE ASSEMBLY (the "general assembly" of Heb. 12:23), AND FOR THE JOURNEYING (massa, DEPARTURE) OF THE CAMPS (i.e., at the two Raptures). And when they shall blow with them (both), ALL THE ASSEMBLY SHALL ASSEMBLE THEMSELVES TO THEE AT THE DOOR OF THE TABERNACLE (ohel, dwelling place) OF THE CONGREGATION (moed, an appointment, a fixed time; specifically A FESTIVAL; conventionally A YEAR; i.e., the FEAST OF TRUMPETS that begins the civil year). And if they blow but with ONE TRUMPET, then the princes (i.e., the ELDERS), which are heads of the thousands of Israel, SHALL GATHER THEMSELVES (yaad, meet at a stated time, TO ENGAGE FOR MARRIAGE) UNTO THEE."

Mt. 25:10 represents the first Rapture. It says, "while they (the foolish virgins) went to buy, the BRIDEGROOM (Jesus) came; and they that were READY (the wise virgins) went in with him to the MARRIAGE: and the DOOR was shut."

In the New Testament, of the day of the 2nd Rapture, Heb. 12:18, 21-23 says, "ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched...BUT YE ARE COME UNTO MOUNT SION, AND UNTO THE CITY OF THE LIVING GOD, THE HEAVENLY JERUSALEM, and to an innumerable company of angels, TO THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY (paneguris, A FESTAL GATHERING) and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect" (teleioo, complete, i.e., immortal).

In our days, the FIRST TRUMPET will sound at the first Rapture (I Thess. 4:16,17), and "THE LAST TRUMP" will sound at the last Rapture (I Cor. 15:51,52). The first Rapture is for the wise virgins, the Bride of Christ. The last Rapture is for the Tribulation saints.

I Thess. 4:16,17 says, "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the TRUMP OF GOD: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be CAUGHT UP together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."

I Cor. 15:51-53 says, "Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the LAST TRUMP: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality."

End Quote

It sounds to me like the silver trumpets that God had Moses make were foreshadowing the first trumpet blowing at the Feast of Trumpets when were are raptured.

Mac,

That was a good post from the Omega Letter. On a somewhat related topic , I am almost done reading "The Omega Conspiracy: Satan's Final Assault on God's Kingdom". It is a book I have wanted to read for awhile. It has some pretty interesting information in it about Nephilim, UFOs etc. from a Christian perspective.

I also just picked up "Isralestine" by Paul Salus. I haven't started it yet, but it looks pretty interesting from the comments I have received from atty and the interview of the author I listened to.

I read through David Lowe's second book "Then His Voice Shook the Earth" again recently, and I was again amazed at his insight. I am once more convinced that we are currently waiting for the 6th seal (the rapture and whatever catastrophes accompany it)to be opened.

I had been questioning for awhile whether there had been more seal and trumpet judgments occur in the past, but I have come back to the conclusion that the 6th seal is the next event in Revelation we should be looking for. There are some GREAT arguments for more of the seal and many of the trumpet judgments having already occurred. I spent a huge amount of time recently reading books about the fall of Constantinople, the history of the Roman empire, Albert Barnes notes of Revelation, etc.

However, as much evidence as there was in these sources for us being farther along in the judgments, I think David Lowe's evidence for the 6th seal being next over rides these other findings.

Jim C,

I was really impressed with Cardinal Jean-Claude Turcotte, Montreal's archbishop. As discussed in the article below, he renounced his Order of Canada honors to protest Dr. Henry Morgentaler, the biggest pro-abortion advocate in Canada for the last 40 years, being given the same award recently.

Turcotte is not the first person to return their Order for Canada award to protest Morgentaler receiving this award, but he is the most high profile.

Morgentaler opened an abortion clinic in Canada in 1969 and performed thousands of illegal abortions. He was arrested and jailed several times. After several court battles, in 1988, the Canadian Supreme Court struck down Canada's abortion law , which required women who wanted an abortion to appeal to a three-doctor hospital abortion committee.

Now you can get an abortion on demand. So...Morgentalor is largely responsible for the 2 million or more unborn babies who have been murdered in Canada in the last few decades.

The University that my wife and I work at awarded him an honorary degree 3 years ago. I can't tell you how angry that made me!

Cardinal Turcotte gives back Order of Canada

jim.carroll said...

Harold, Shalom! Yeah, I've spoken to a number of Canadians who are just SICK that Morgentaler got that honor. With all the people returning their awards, it looks like the Order of Canada committee has decided to stick to its guns. Even though the article mentions that Morgentaler did jail time, it doesn't mention that some of that jail time came because a number of women who recv'd "safe illegal abortions" from him died of complications.

BTW, I picked up both "Temple At The Center Of Time" and "The Feasts of the Lord" DVDs from WND.com yesterday. I got a Feasts of the Lord in Prophecy Newsletter last night which mentioned that the DVDs were available at WND on only 2 DVDs and with some new information. While I was there getting the DVDs, I saw an announcement where if I acted before 10PM Pacific Time, I could get the "Temple" book for only $4.95. So I'm expecting them to arrive sometime next week.

Harold,

That's funny today I just went back to reading the "Omega Conspiracy" because I switched to the David Flynn book midstream.

Also that "Israelstine" peaked my interest but haven't ordered it yet.

Never heard about the two silver trumpets before-great info!

So the 1st trumpet is for the wise and the 2nd & Last is for new believers & those "Christians" not taking His word seriously.

As far as the seals go I still don't think they have been opened but what do I know. I have read "His voice shook the Earth" but if that's what it says I guess I remain unconvinced. (I'll look at it again.) I recall he thinks the 6th seal is the rapture because of the "great earthquake" but the preceding events don't appear to have taken place yet unless it's placed in times far past.

What has you convinced about the seals already being opened?

(I'm still in the birthpangs pre-
70th week mode.)

Jim C,

You did great on the "Temple" book! Let us know the "new" & interesting info on the Feast DVD's.

I just ordered a DVD as well-but it was a Perry Stone teaching from his conference on the 2012/2015 dates. Was curious on his take of that topic. He mentions it briefly on "Strange Cosmic Signs" re:Mark Blitz & his "friends" @ Prophesy in the News.

The "Prophesy of Restitution" I watched yesterday and although I can see it happen-I didn't know it was an actual prophesy. (I need to write down the Bible verse referenced.)

It has to do w/the Church realizing their "roots" in Jewish traditions and incorporating some of those things back into their worship. Like fasting, knowing about the Feasts, Trumpets, reading/understanding the OT and knowing how those past events foreshadow future events, etc..

The concept that Christianity is a wild branch which has been grafted w/the natural branches but the Trunk is still Jewish in nature.

At the end times Christianity will go back to those roots and many Jews will also realize that the Jewish Messiah that the Christians have been worshipping is really also their promised Messiah.

It does make some sense that if the Christians did not look & worship so completely foreign to the Jewish customs that they might see the "Jewish Jesus" easier than the Christianized version.

(He's not implying Christians would go back under the Law.)

Then he speaks of how the 1st Century Church would go house to house and take the Lord's Supper daily. (Now-he's already promoting this one. I'm not quite convicted of this yet-but it would be interesting to find out more about it.)

Shalom, all! Earlier, there were reports of the persecution going on in India. Now, the Christians in Viet Nam also need our prayers.

It started when a group of priests started agitating for the return of land that had been illegally taken by the Communist Party. Soon, there were prayer vigils at the site. The government has now declared that these prayer vigils constitute "organized crime" and the criminal leaders will be arrested.

False priests appear on Hanoi media to discredit Catholics
Some priests have appeared on Vietnamese state TV and have been interviewed by government newspapers speaking out against Thai Ha parishioners who want the restitution of parish property, except that these men of the cloth are neither priests nor Catholic. At least one of them has in fact been identified as a Communist party official. “They were ‘ordained’ by the government,” was the scathing comment from the diocese of Hanoi.

Catholic journalists being hunted by Vietnamese police
Realizing that their efforts to distort the Catholic protests are not succeeding when it comes to international news outlets, such as CNA, the Vietnamese police have made internet reporting a crime and have organized a manhunt for Catholic reporters. One source informed CNA that plain-clothed police are hunting for Catholic reporters who have corresponded with media outlets regarding developments of the protests.

Vietnamese warned not to read ICN (Independent Catholic News)
A source in Hanoi said the authorities are closely monitoring overseas reports on the protests. "You are in serious trouble should your browsing history include Asia-News, Catholic News Agency, Catholic World News, Independent Catholic News, VietCatholic News, Zenit and others" - he warned.

If you think I'm too critical, my only defense is this: If you knew how critical I was tempted to be, you would be proud of my self-restraint"

OH, JIB, I am joining my restraining to your restraining and hope that all the effort doesn't go unnoticed.

MAC, I am typing this with both hands tied together in a little tiny knot but I can still type. Best be praying for stronger restraints from the Holy Spirit.

"Shall we gather at the river, the beautiful, the beautiful river; shall we gather at the river, the beautiful river of God".

For what it's worth, Oklahoma and Arkansas are expected to bear the brunt of the storm tomorrow also. We are told to prepare for wind gusts to 60 mph and 8+ inches of rain. Tie all of that together with the fact that we have the perfect weather right now of tornadoes and the pressure is dipping pretty low. Feels like someone is sucking the air out of the air.

Now I don't mind bad weather because I have my promises from God already in motion but if this storm system is payback for the decision GWB and Condi are pressing on Israel I have one thing to say "WE ARE NOT THE GUILTY ONES! GO GET THE STATE DEPARTMENT AND BRING THEM TO THE CENTER OF THE STORM!" After they get here we will pop our Bibles open and pound into them the basics on Israel and those who curse her.

Now, I am getting my solar lights, water supplies, camp stove, flash lights and anything else I might think will come in handy. Not for us you see, but for the ones who don't believe in pleading the BLood of Jesus! They might need some assistance and reassurance.

Love you all and praying in all seriousness.

THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD

A Sunday School teacher decided to have her young class memorize one of the most quoted passages
in the Bible - Psalm 23. She gave the youngsters a month to learn the chapter. Little Rick was excited
about the task - but he just couldn't remember the Psalm. After much practice, he could barely get past
the first line.

On the day that the kids were scheduled to recite Psalm 23 in front of the congregation, Ricky was so
nervous. When it was his turn, he stepped up to the microphone and said proudly, 'The Lord is my Shepherd,
and that's all I need to know.'

SAY A PRAYER

Little Johnny and his family were having Sunday dinner at his Grandmother's house. Everyone was seated
around the table as the food was being served. When Little Johnny received his plate, he started eating right away.

'Johnny! Please wait until we say our prayer.' said his mother.

'I don't need to,' the boy replied.

'Of course, you do,' his mother insisted. 'We always say a prayer before eating at our house.'

'That's at our house,' Johnny explained, 'but this is Grandma's house and she knows how to cook!'

Lisa,

The earthquake at the opening of the sixth seal is just a small part of the reason why I think we are currently waiting for the 6th seal to be opened. I think a better reason is that the 6th seal judgment all the way to the 7th bowl judgment are all about God pouring out his wrath on the earth.

Revelation 6:15-16 (English Standard Version)

15 Then the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, 16 calling to the mountains and rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb,

Clearly this is the judgment in Revelation where the pouring out of God's wrath starts, as evidenced by the declarations of the people trying to hide themselves from the wrath of God and Jesus (the Lamb) at the opening of the 6th seal.

The 5th seal talks about the martyrs asking God how much longer it is going to be before their murder is avenged. This would make no sense if these martyrs were just murdered by the AC during the early part of the 7 year tribulation period. The actual persecution of the Jews and Christians is actually not supposed to take place until the second half of the 7 year tribulation period. How could the 5th seal be pushed all the way back into the later part of the last 3 1/2 years? This makes no sense.

Add to this the fact that the martyrs would be getting impatient unreasonably quickly if they are asking God how long it is going to be until their deaths are avenged if they had only been dead a few months or two years at the most. It would make much more sense if these people had been martyred over the last 2000 years and had been waiting a long time for God to avenge their deaths. There have been millions of Christians martyred over the last 2000 years starting in the first century.

I would argue that this number is far greater than the number who will be killed by the AC. It doesn't make sense for John in Revelation to talk about the deaths of this smaller number of martyrs killed by the AC being avenged by God, but not to talk about the far greater number killed over the last 2000 years.

The first 5 seal judgments have nothing to do with God's wrath. They all represent pestilences that God allows Satan and his minions to afflict on the inhabitants of earth (both saved and unsaved). It is like in Job when God allowed Satan to afflict Job with every trial under the Sun. It wasn't God inflicting these torments on Job, it was God allowing Satan to put Job through all the trials.

God does not directly command any of the first 5 seals judgments to occur. All the trumpet and the bowl judgments are caused by angels. Angels, as you know, only do God's bidding. God is commanding them to pour out these judgments on the inhabitants of the earth as punishment for the murder of His church members (the martyrs pleading under the altar).

There is no direct cause given for the seal judgments, there is just the symbol of a rider on a colored horse for the first 4 plagues. They are all gradual concurrences. They are not instantaneous judgments like the trumpet and bowl judgments seem to be.

God's requirement for the avenging of innocent shed blood all traces back to the Old Testament. God took the murder of innocent people very seriously. When a murder took place, the very ground in that area was defiled. One might argue that this was the main reason for the Dispersion. The Jews shed innocent blood (crucified Christ and murdered his followers) and the very land of Israel was defiled because of it.

In the early Old Testament, when someone was found murdered and no one knew who the culprit was, the priests were commanded to strangle a heifer under water to atone for this unavenged murder of innocent blood.

When Cain killed Abel, God said that the very ground cried out with Abel's blood.

As you will notice in Revelation, many of the tribulation judgments have to do with blood. The first and second trumpet judgments and the second and third bowl judgments have to do with blood. This symbolizes God avenging the shed blood of His followers.

1 Thessalonians 5 talks about when the Day of the Lord comes "sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape."

This does not describe any of the first 5 seals. The 6th seal definitely describes sudden destruction.

As for the lack of evidence that the first few seals have already been opened, you just have to read about the history of Rome. These judgments have already occurred in spades. As I mentioned previously, I was even convinced for awhile that the first few trumpet judgments had already occurred as well.

It is staggering the number of people that have died from famine, disease, war, and natural disasters over the last 2000 years. An argument can easily be made for this being the fulfillment of the first five seals.

I do think that the seals effects are getting worse as we get closer to the end. The carnage of the last century boggles the mind. Jesus did say it would be like birth pangs and their effect would intensify as we get closer to the end. We are certainly seeing just that right now.

David Lowe does make a good case for there being a great earthquake every time the New Testament details someone getting resurrected into their new heavenly body (Jesus and the saints at His resurrection and the two witnesses in Revelation). The 6th seal certainly is the first judgment to describe a great earthquake. It makes sense that this is the rapture, as this is the beginning of God pouring out His wrath against the earth for the murder of His church. It doesn't make any sense that His church is still on the earth while He is pouring out His wrath for the murder of their brothers in Christ.

Avenging the murder of His church and at the same time causing the deaths of untold millions of other members of His church would be counter productive. That has to be the biggest argument against a post trib rapture. Why would God punish members of His church for the murder of His church? Noah did not get punished for the evil deeds of the rest of the people on the earth and neither did Lot for living in Sodom.

I have a question for you about David Flynn's book. Does David Flynn's book comment on any possible time line for the start of tribulation and the rapture? I am just wondering whether his book would offer any possible support for Mark Biltz' views or would it contradict them.

Thanks,
Harold

Harold, It does fit in but he looks at it in a different light.

1/3 of Time.

1 Corinthians 13:12 & Rev 12:4

1/3 of the stars cast down to earth from heaven by a dragon's tail. He thinks this is a cryptograph of time.

There is a northern constellation called "Draco" or the Dragon. The word used for tail is ora, the same lexial Greek root for Heavens, oranos, and hour, hora.

Over the course of 25,920 yrs.the earth traces a circle around Draco. 1/3 of time will locate the earth right under Draco's tail. He thinks @ the point when Earth's northern axis leaves the tail of Draco, the Saints will be resurrected & this will happen before/as the Devil & his angels are thrown down to earth in their great wrath & little time left.

There are more calculations of this 1/3 senario but they all lead to 2013 AD. (He has 2012 on the front cover of his book but I can only locate the 2013 date.)

**But the interesting part is how he also arrives @ this time frame but w/a completely different method than the Sun/Moon or UFO/New Age type senario.

(Although he DOES mention Crop Circles .They began in "1980" & the majority have been located @ 33to 33.33 degrees of the circle of the earth. This is a wide swath 1,980-2013 Nautical miles from
the temple in Jerusalem.)

Hey all,
So what's left of Ike (IKEA according to my 6 year old) just went directly over us. The storm itself wasn't too horrible, since we are 450 miles inland, very little flooding, but lots of downed trees and power lines. Our power has been steady but I'm the boy scout type and an ex-texas gulf resident so we were ready. What's concerning me now is the power in Houston metro. Both of my sister-in laws and their husbands are down there and so far they've been without power for about 12 hours, they are saying perhaps weeks to get it back on. That would not be good. Think NY blackout x 10. Now the news is telling them to boil their drinking water, which means the muni. water pumps are down due to power being out. I hope since we can get through by cell occasionally that some sporadic power and phone lines are good. But pray that the water and power are restored in less than 2 more days or very bad things are going to start happening in the city of 4 million, most of whom have guns, since they're Texans after all.

'MEET ME IN THE STAIRWELL'

You say you will never forget where you were when you heard the news On September 11, 2001. Neither will I.

I was on the 110th floor in a smoke filled room with a man who called his wife to say 'Good-Bye.' I held his fingers steady as he dialed. I gave him the peace to say, 'Honey, I am not going to make it, but it is OK..I am ready to go.'

I was with his wife when he called as she fed breakfast to their children. I held her up as she
tried to understand his words and as she realized he wasn't coming home that night.

I was in the stairwell of the 23rd floor when a woman cried out to Me for help. 'I have been knocking on the door of your heart for 50 years!' I said. 'Of course I will show you the way home - only
believe in Me now.'

I was at the base of the building with the Priest ministering to the injured and devastated souls.
I took him home to tend to his Flock in Heaven. He heard my voice and answered.

I was on all four of those planes, in every seat, with every prayer. I was with the crew as they
were overtaken. I was in the very hearts of the believers there, comforting and assuring them that their faith has saved them.

I was in Texas , Virginia , California ,Michigan ,Afghanistan .I was standing next to you when you heard the terrible news.
Did you sense Me?

I want you to know that I saw every face. I knew every name - though not all know Me. Some met Me for the first time on the 86th floor.

Some sought Me with their last breath. Some couldn't hear Me calling to them through the
smoke and flames; 'Come to Me... this way... take my hand.' Some chose, for the final time, to ignore Me. But, I was there.

I did not place you in the Tower that day. You may not know why, but I do. However, if you were
there in that explosive moment in time, would you have reached for Me?

Sept. 11, 2001, was not the end of the journey for you. But someday your journey will end. And I
will be there for you as well. Seek Me now while I may be found. Then, at any moment, you know you are 'ready to go.'

I will be in the stairwell of your final moments.

God

Stop and think and appreciate God's power in your life, for doing what you know is pleasing to
Him. If you are not ashamed to do this, follow the instructions. Jesus said, 'If you are ashamed of Me, I will be ashamed of you before My Father'

I love my God. He is my
fountain of Life and My Savior. He Keeps me going day and night. Without Him, I am no one. But with Him, I can do everything. Christ is my strength.

Good God's morning everyone!

Saturday, Becky called and said the storm didn't have any affect on them and she was staying with some friends in San Antonio in the Alamo Heights area, where ever that is. She was worried about us! She got all of her shelter materials delivered, didn't have to drive a truck and had plenty of help getting all of the food items stored for later. She loves TEXAS!

Hope you all are breathing clear air this morning like we are. WHAT A SATURDAY NITE! Nothing I have ever experienced before holds a candle to the excitement we had here. It was equal to 3 or 4 tied Super Bowl games!

We were patting each other on the back about 5 p.m. and relaxing because Ike had taken a hike; yeah, sure! Then it hit! We had buckets and buckets of rain in very heavy wind torrents and it got pretty scary around here for a long time. I sat up until almost 3 a.m. before it stopped with the five alarm wind gusts. We have a brick home, very well built, and has withstood some very strong winds before but nothing like this last night.

I have a battery operated radio and we keep it in our sun room or as I like to say The Son Room. Didn't need it but just in case all the power went out. Even the power didn't want to go out in that wind so we listened to the weather reports and at the time of the worst part, the former well formed and big eye was right over Ft. Smith. That is only 19 miles from us by highway and too close last night. The thing I am trying to say is just this, it was scary in the middle of the storm but I had been so calm and believing before the storm hit. Then God reminded me that he was there in the very middle of the storm too, providing our protection in the worst of times also.

Yes, I was frightened because the wind was trying to move our house from the sound of things and the trees were bowing like wet noodles. Then SUDDENLY GOD! I heard him tell me "Peace, be still" and it wasn't me doing it either because I didn't feel like peace of any kind except maybe piece and bits of us left for someone else to clean up. But immediately, I felt such an overwhelming Presence of Peace that I couldn't find it in my heart anymore to fear!

I didn't hear any trumpet either, just a love that passes all understanding permeated our home and I went to bed. This morning the air is so clean, fresh and sweet that all the windows are open and a wonderful cool breeze is wafting through the whole house, blowing out all lingering doubts and fears.

Hallelujah!

He is so good, all of the time JIB and to think that he puts up with all of us! Me especially!

I really do appreciate all of your prayers and I know that they are very powerful and provisional too. When the wind was really pushing hard and the yards, streets and every little low spot was filled to overflow last night with rain, the thought that other people were suffering worse things never crossed my mind. It was all about my particular longitude/latitude location at the moment. Then the wind came, would stop for a few seconds and start again. I knew not to fear but it is an old habit that dies hard. All of my "What ifs" kicked into play and then hubby said "Did you pray? What are you worried about then?"

That didn't stop me either! But God did when he reminded me of "Peace, be still" and it was the only thing I listened to and changed direction. HE IS MIGHTY TO FULFILL ALL OF HIS PROMISES TO EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US! He loves us you see.

Oh, it feels so good to be typing these comments this morning. Praise the Lord, for his mercies are new every morning.

Hi all;
Good to hear everyone near the storm is OK and praising God. It seems that the experts are saying that it was not as bad as feared in most ways. I heard a report that said the storm turned just before coming ashore and that saved a lot of damage that could have happened. Jesus is our "Rock" of refuge in all of our lifes storms, Praise God!!

I didn't sleep well Friday night concerned about the people in Texas so @ the 1st light I got up to see what happened-(They didn't show much on TV) when I was stricken by some weird stomach cramps. (And they were not the type women have) I was literally bed ridden and walked around bent in 1/2. Determined not to miss out on my daughters 1st full sized horse riding lesson-I tagged along.

(Hubby was ready to take me to the hospital.) I really shouldn't have gone because by that time I could barely walk-so I sat in the car & watched & prayed. Most of the pain subsided for the duration of the lessons-then came back. Suddenly back @ home in bed-POOF they were gone completely.

It was strange & had never had anything quite like that happen to me. Usually I'm pretty healthy in that regard.

Then last night after a Sushi Dinner w/the family-(I think hubby had one too many saki's or something) he goes into a diatribe on God and how at the greeters training meeting they mentioned if the volunteers felt "called" to be a greeter. He goes off on that-thinking it's over the top-then get's on my case-then says these Christians are taking it too far and don't even expect people to work or be concerned w/anything but Spirituality & the real deal is making $$$$.

So that really got me upset & thought Hubby may be a false convert.(I had some rocky soil visions in my mind) In my talk w/God about it I asked Him if he'd hammer my Hubby over the head with the Holy Spirit & my usual answer from Him was that He will take care of things.

So I get a call from Hubby after his 1st greeter job @ church (I went to the following service) telling me how good & inspiring the message was.

IT WAS ABOUT WORKING HARD IN YOUR PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT. My husband already works hard but God already had the Holy Spirit hammer ready for hubby when he walked in the Church door 1st thing!

WAMMO! I guess that lack of working lazy myth was dispelled.

Praise be to God!-He is always faithful-even before we know it!

It's a "PRE-RELEASE One Hour Edition". I haven't watched it yet so I can't comment on it, but the simple fact that someone (The Clarion Fund?) paid to have this DVD inserted into 74 (!) different newspapers amazes me. The papers range from Bucks Co. Courier Times and the Sioux City Journal all the way up to the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and Chronicle of Higher Education. It appears these papers were chosen to provide the widest coverage across the country. I'll keep an eye on my local paper to see if there's any fallout, but I'm planning on watching it tonight!

Good God's Day everyone from Okieland.

We bounced out of bed this morning to shining bright sun, green trees, grass and birds absolutely thrilled to offer up their songs of praise. Everything is so bright and shining clean, even the air haze is gone. God is on his Throne and the precious Son is waiting to hear "Go get your Bride, Son" and the body of Christ is waiting for that call also.

The world got up with the news that Lehman didn't get the big bailout they wanted and now all of the grief will be spread to the world and there will be great gnashing of teeth and fear of what is to come. No man can imagine the despair that is being felt in cities around the world by those who have no idea where or what they will be doing in the hours, days, and weeks ahead.

I remember when our Grumpy (ATTY) warned all of us that this was coming and he didn't stretch it one little bit. I have spent the last 7 years trying to convince my hubby that the market was not the place to put the security of our life in. He has depended on it the way most of us depend on God and sad to say, he isn't alone.

I am praying for everyone to remain strong and steadfast in your faith and relationship with your heavenly father. He promised he would not desert us and he would be with us through all of the trials and storms of life.

Shalom everyone!

this is rather long but I think in view of the coming crisis worth reading. this is by Spurgeon.

"He shall not be afraid of evil tidings." —Psalm 112:7

Christian, you ought not to dread the arrival of evil tidings; because if you are distressed by them, what do you more than other men? Other men have not your God to fly to; they have never proved His faithfulness as you have done, and it is no wonder if they are bowed down with alarm and cowed with fear: but you profess to be of another spirit; you have been begotten again unto a lively hope, and your heart lives in heaven and not on earthly things; now, if you are seen to be distracted as other men, what is the value of that grace which you profess to have received? Where is the dignity of that new nature which you claim to possess?

Again, if you should be filled with alarm, as others are, you would, doubtless, be led into the sins so common to others under trying circumstances. The ungodly, when they are overtaken by evil tidings, rebel against God; they murmur, and think that God deals hardly with them. Will you fall into that same sin? Will you provoke the Lord as they do?

Moreover, unconverted men often run to wrong means in order to escape from difficulties, and you will be sure to do the same if your mind yields to the present pressure. Trust in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him. Your wisest course is to do as Moses did at the Red Sea, "Stand still and see the salvation of God." For if you give way to fear when you hear of evil tidings, you will be unable to meet the trouble with that calm composure which nerves for duty, and sustains under adversity. How can you glorify God if you play the coward? Saints have often sung God's high praises in the fires, but will your doubting and desponding, as if you had none to help you, magnify the Most High? Then take courage, and relying in sure confidence upon the faithfulness of your covenant God, "let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

Grany,

We're in your same financial boat.

He's got it in the house "real estate"-which bombed out & the "stock market" which is next in line.

I've been warning him for over a year about the stock market-but to no avail. His trust is in men-who are in charge of our holdings.

The last time the stock crashed this same man was in charge of it and our portfolio was slashed in 1/2. (This postponed his retirement by 10 years & he ain't no spring chicken.)

So here we go again. Oh well.

I just pray I can deal w/him "In Christ" if/when this happens. He was a real BEAR the last time. The type which rehashes & replays the what if's over & over again ad naseum.

***I'm more worried about my reaction to my hubby & tolerating him than the actual stock crash!

No wonder the life span of a woman increases if she's widowed (:

Lisa, tell you what I shall do!

Let me pray for your hubby and situation and you pray for mine because if you look in the mirror you will see my reflection of what you just said. I have been fighting this same battle since 1973 and some day I am hoping that my hubby will realize if you want to make a cake you don't use a recipe for pie dough! Doing the same dumb things time after time and failing should be like a book! Read it once and learn, repeat and learn some more but after the second time, you should have the blasted book memorized and no need to read it again. Same with mistakes! Enough said.

I so appreciate you sharing and I really do mean what I stated first. It is easier to pray for your household if I am removed from all of the hurtful things said and done. I don't have to get into forgiveness and all that goes with it.

I am praying for this hole to be filled with God's purest measure of mercy and grace though.

I wanted to come on here and remind everyone to be praying for all of the people who are still reeling from Hurricane Ike. My daughter was supposed to have a whole week of appointments with businesses in the Houston, Galveston and Beaumont, TX area. Big meeting with Sysco Houston and also with the production department of her company. No phone services to the mentioned area and no power of any sort in the Houston area. She said that gasoline is non-existent in those areas and most of the traffic where she had to go was being turned back. Galveston is just about the same and no one has heard from her friends who live on Galveston Island. They were in their 80's and due to health problems unable to evacuate with the others. But that story is being repeated over and over again, plus the desire has to be very great to return to the homes of those who were evacuated.

Becky is safe in San Antonio and she said they didn't get a drop of rain there and they really needed the moisture to end the drought. I believe it is safe to state that this country is ripe for repentance of the whole country for the things we have allowed to happen.

Right now I am trying to keep a positive outlook but truthfully, it is a lot easier to face the possibility of a tornado than what is starting to come to fruition right now for the USA.

Lisa, I am praying for you and I am believing that God will bring about the winds of change and the calming of the seas that roar to turmoil before this day is finished. Remember, "when the enemy comes in, Like a Flood God will lift up a banner against Him."

I am not fearful but you better believe my anger is well placed and is geared to bringing about the salvation of this household to the fullness and completed works of serving God. Not only daily but minute by minute 24/7/360+5 every so often. Last night before I called it adieu I checked in at the computer and what I saw forewarned me that today was not going to be like anything we have previously experienced. I saw all of the ticker tapes of markets around the world and it was very bad. I sat in my front room with the lights turned off and watched a TV screen with the sound off. I turned to Animal Planet and watched as beasts of prey laid in wait for smaller and unsuspecting animals to become complacent and unsuspecting of the danger that was ready to spring and take their life from them. I saw some very swift little creatures escape just because they were small and not worth the chase but the bigger, more succulent ones were set up on and then devoured.

I couldn't get the picture out of my mind and I don't normally view this type of Nature Program. But as I was just typing this, the thought ran through my mind that this isn't much different than the human world we live in. With the exception, even the small fry becomes meat for the meal in the eyes of the world. Get enough small fry and you can have a feast. But God! that is the difference you know.

I have to go console my mate. I will put on my kid gloves before I venture in to see him.

Love you all and pray for your well being,
Grany

P.S. MAC, how are you faring in all of this? Praying for you too.

Just read the Olmert/no greater Israel article and am left stymied. I guess if you never read the Bible/Torah you might come to that conclusion, but he admits he used to believe that the original land deed was Israel's right. Now, internal/external pressure has brought him to the opposite conclusion, that it's better to forfeit land than deal with continued struggles with the statehood issue. At one point he stated that (paraphrasing), eventually Israel will be left with no international support anyway, so why not resolve the issue sooner rather than later. Basically, that's what prophesy says will happen...Israel will be left utterly alone to face their enemies. He just doesn't see how the political landscape today is exactly what Scripture says must/will happen to bring his people back to God. Reminds me of when the spies went to Caanan and came back with the hopeless report. We only get a few verses in the Bible that describe those ancient 'moments of truth', but I imagine it must have been similar to what we read about today. Why do God's own people struggle to trust Him when He tells us He's got things under control? When has our own understanding ever been sufficient? I know what's coming and I know it has to happen, but I wish there was someway to rewind, redo decisions and then rejoice in seeing how the original plan worked just perfectly.
OK. Sorry for the rant. Off the stump now.

Blessings,
Jen

Late Night Lisa said...

Grany & Lori-Got you covered under prayer.

Jen, your analogy of the land of Cannon & what Olmert is doing couldn't be better. It's exactly what's happening. He's cowering to the perceived giants because he has no faith & doesn't believe that God is an active force in their lives.

Well, I guess they are going to find THAT out- looks like fairly soon.

Galveston,TX looks pretty wiped out. One man who's home is still standing (about the only one) left but stacked up his things on counters/tables to 7' high. When he came home he saw scrape marks on the ceiling which meant the water rose there to about 10' high.

A lady who stayed said the water came in upto her neck & she was holding her 3yr old above the water line.

Does not look good for anyone who stayed behind in that town.

Great Grany 5 said...

Jen, that was a good rant! Olmert is not looking at the situation through the lenses of scripture so he has it somewhat wrong. The world will desert them, true but GOD! That is the hidden element from Olmert at this time and probably most of the religious leaders also.

But how many in the USA today are looking at things with fear and trembling as the after math of the hurricanes begin to be broadcast and then wham, right on top of that we have a major financial melt down that was adequately warned of right here on the blog. I have no doubt that God will show his might and judgment will begin to be extracted from the ones who have created this mess. Maybe not by the world and by that I mean, the unsaved but time will show the picture up clear and personal.

I remember when this nation faced some really tough times in the past and the faithful were the ones who were at the fore front urging and encouraging the ones who had no hope. We can and will do it again, and again, until Christ calls us home. By that time, it will all be a distant memory of things old people talk about. I won't be here by then but my kids and their kids will and if anything is learned it will be the first time. We might know history but we still do a good job or repeating it every so often.

God is good and like Marge says, good all of the time.

Mr. Hyde, I loved your dose of jocularity greatly. I needed that!

Jim, I received a very interesting letter from a group of missionaries in India today and they shared the story of Hindu attacks that you did. Our group is praying for God's protection of all his people world wide and that the promises that Jesus made for our protection would come into reality for all who are under attack.

Voice of Martyrs also carried the appeal for prayers. Truly, God's House is called a House of Prayer and we are becoming more focused on that aspect of our faith during these days of trouble.

Hey all,
My heart is very heavy tonight.
I helped at the Ike shelter our city set up again tonight and there were only about 500 people left. I asked what happened to the rest, hoping perhaps Beaumont opened back up or the authorities moved them south again to get closer to their homes, but, no.
Apparently, there was a huge riot Saturday night in the old Walmart they had opened up for them and it took most of the city's PD to stop it. The city counsel met and shipped the worst off to Ft Worth. I don't know how Ft Worth got so lucky to get the most violent ones. Our church had been planning a really big interdenom service Sunday PM, but because almost no one was there I don't think it went on. The men from our church helped set up the place, organized cots, b-ball goals, set up cable and TVs others donated for free, it goes on and on. And yet in spite of the outpouring of help these people received, most chose to act poorly. Perhaps some of the worst would have heard the Word if the violence hadn't happened.
Then Syria finishes invading Lebanon. Not a word on mainstream media on that.
Leyman Bros files bankruptcy. Very heavy investors in Jerusalem, btw.
And a co-worker I'm very close to reports she's separating from her husband (a pastor). You know the evil one loves that!

As others have said, I know our Lord is in control and events are being shaped so He can have one last push to let a few more souls turn to Him. I just hope and pray it's very soon. If you could have seen the faces of those little kids my kids brought toys to Saturday AM, to think of those same kids watching their parents in a riot breaks my heart. What must it do the Christ's heart?

As always In His Grip,

The full moon is extremely red tonight from my vantage point in Salem, Oregon. I'm guessing that folks in the Willamette Valley here have been burning fields (a common practice in these parts).

Just wondering though. Is it red colored anywhere else out there. I mean it is more red than I think I've ever seen it.

Hi Scott,
I'm so sorry to hear of the situation you described. It's really deflating when things go south. I've often prayed about heartaches and how much longer must they be endured, only to be reminded that God has been enduring un-imaginable grief for centuries. The sheer amount of it can't even be scratched by our feeble minds. There's a scene in a movie (I forget the exact name) about the life of Jesus where Satan is showing him all the pain and suffering that will be caused because of those who think they are fighting in God's name...war, famine, pillaging, etc. He tempts Jesus to cave in and not go through with the plan set before Him, but rather just use His power to stop it all and avoid centuries of suffering. From that perspective, it seems logical and right. But Jesus knows that short circuiting God's master design would leave us without that bridge back home. He could have put an end to suffering, but that would also have put an end to hope. That's what I'm trying to focus on right now as my heart is heavy, too. I want to go home so much, but not until everyone has secured their ticket to get on that train with me.

I'll be praying for all these needs.

Blessings,
Jen

Jim,
I tried to take some pix of the moon tonight here in eastern PA...it was pretty white, but the thin cloud cover was very unique, like nothing else I've seen before. Probably remnants of Ike moving through.
We were at the shore over the weekend and both hubby and I commented how bright and clear the moon was over the ocean. Easy to see all the details, like we were looking at it through binoculars.

Dr Macnab says Abraham is probably a concoction, Moses was a mass murderer and Jesus Christ just a Jewish peasant who certainly was not God. In fact, there is no God, in the usual sense of an interventionist deity - what we strive for is a presence both within and beyond us.

regarding the whole not learning thing. My dad told me something Dr Dobson said about bringing up boys-unlike girls they don't learn from their mistakes because they think that whenever something bad happens that it was a complete fluke and couldn't possibly happen again. lol! sounds like that might be true

my hubby's brother and family are doing ok-they finally have power back although his place of work was just as destroyed as the JP Morgan building so he'll be working from home apparently.

interestingly enough, my folks and hubby folks as well as my brother were as affected by Ike as the Houston branch-no power for about 36 hours and they still have no phone, internet or tv (got to love those all in one cable plans-not) my father in law sent pix from the neighbor hood that my husband grew up in and there are large trees uprooted, branches down etc. to our knowledge in laws still have no power but everyone else does.

btw-per Beck, the reason Bank of America (our personal bank) bought out Merrill Lynch is the thought that if they are big enough the Feds will have to bail them out. thinking seriously about putting money in a mattress-it might be safer.

In graduate school, I met a wonderful brother in the Lord named Israel who was from India. He said before he came to the Lord, he used to sell idols for a living. He came from one of the lower castes (sp?). He always said that when the Lord came into his life, it was like coming from total darkness into light. That last picture I linked made me think of my brother in Christ, Israel.

Really interesting documentary on the Hindu religion. You get a sense for what the Christians endure living in those countries.

(I think Satan's minions take on the deities of these gods & goddesses & seduce the people who worship them w/feeling something emotionally & supernaturally.)

Kumari
Kathmandu celebrates Indrajartra, one of its most colorful week-long festival worshiping the Kumari, or the virgin "living goddess" considered by many as an incarnation of the powerful deity Kali, and various other deities.

Donna, sorry -- haven't had a chance to watch the DVD. I'll try to do it tonight.

Mac, I found it interesting that Dr. Macnab is an executive minister at "St. Michael's Uniting Church." His message is so diabolical. Yet, St. Michael is the archangel who lead the heavenly battle that ejected Lucifer from Heaven.

Mac,

This quote says it all from that "New Faith" link:

"We have given up that idea. He's no longer the God up there, an interventionist God. We can all feel a presence beyond ourselves and are trying to get in touch with the presence better than ourselves. It's trying to bring a more humanitarian understanding."

Here we go-a god of your own mind. They feel the "presence" of Satan pulling them away from the One True God so they'll just re-define Him.

Why even bother w/Christianity then? Just do as you please and take your one way ticket to hell.

(But falsely they think their still "saved". Wishful thinking in for a very rude awakening.)

I was thinking today about the Rosh Hashanah dress rehearsal. If we give our Lord & King 110% this year then maybe we won't need too many more practice days.

W/the Banking scenario, Israel ready to divide, Natural Disasters, and the Countries aligning themselves up-all it would take is the Church gone & the Anti-Christ community organizer to emerge & get things going full swing into a one world direction.

To say these are interesting times we live in is a major understatement. This is unreal & who can see it? Very few indeed.

It's almost like the Christians who live in Napal. The majority of the community is doing their own false god worship rituals while a handful of Christians live in Spritual reality through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Who is living daily w/their eyes on the Kingdom? Those Christians who don't will find it very hard to cope with what may be coming around the next bend.

I can't even fathom what 2009 is going to bring.(Nope-I'm not going to worry about it -nope,nope,nope.)

Ok-I can't seem to convince myself not to worry about it for other people. That's my problem & I'm going to go back & re-read those scriptures posted.

looks like my in laws won't have power until sunday pm. there were roofers in the neighbor hood so my dad in law was able to convince them to come over and fix his minor roof damage also (for a fee I'm sure). he says his friend up in Cleveland also doesn't have power.

so Alesia-are you ok?

Lisa,

personally I think there are a few more things that have to happen before the AC community organizer appears (I like that btw, sounds catchy). it depends on who wins the election. as I was drifting off to bed I had the thought that the last blood red moon that Blitz talks about for 2015 could be the abomination of desolation or half way point of the trib-which would tie in with the 2012 date of a "new era" for the AC taking power. just a few sleep induced scattered thoughts. While I do believe in the imminence of the Rapture I do think that we will see at least 1 if not all 3 of the "war events" (IS17, Ps 83 and EZ 38) before we go.

BTW, I was talking to my jewish colleague who was very excited. He had been talking to a friend living in Israel and said something to the effect of how stressful or bad it must be over there right now. His friend said "are you kidding? it's never been better, our economy is going great guns and is the best it's ever been and likely to get even better" as for the dinner jacket situation he was somewhat philosophical about that-saying he wasn't really all that worried that things were rather peaceful at the moment. Which leads me indirectly to those who say that Ez 38 can't happen at this point because they aren't living at peace and in unwalled villages-to the former I would say that peace is a relative thing one man's peace is another man's terror but in the scheme of things Israel does have more peace than she's ever had. They do live without walls in the sense that EZ meant walls. This is not to say that Ps 83 won't happen before hand but it might not either since our view here in the US of what constitutes peace is different and some seem to be hung up on the partially complete single wall that has been built as "see they live in walled villages". From a military standpoint it makes sense however for PS 83 to occur before EZ 38-defensive treaties etc being fulfilled-you attacked allies and were successful so we must attack you especially since the weaponry you defeated was provided by us and they weren't as trained on it as we are etc. I still don't necessarily believe that Is 17 has to be a third separate event-it could be part of either of the other two although it may well be a third event-perhaps in their effort to bomb Iran one of Israel's missiles goes awry and gets Syria instead.

OH NO-NOT THAT!!!! A global warming denier! Land sakes!

Jib,

It may be interesting to ponder when exactly the moon turns to blood and the sun darkened in Revelation. I see in 6:12 one under the 6th seal. It's the great earthquake seal-so you could theorize that it's the massive earthquake that caused it or would it be timed w/the natural eclipse cycle?

Also Isaiah 13:10,Joel 2:10

Matthew 24:29 (I think this is the one Mark Blitz connects to) "Immediately after the tribulation..."

Commentary:"earthquake-Greek, "shaking" of the heavens, the sea, and the dry land; the shaking of these mutable things being the necessary preliminary to the setting up of those things which cannot be shaken. This is one of the catchwords [Wordsworth] connecting the sixth seal with the sixth trumpet (Re 11:13) and the seventh vial (Re 16:17-21); also the seventh seal (Re 8:5)."

??? Not sure about that.

Scroll down to "Understanding Sikhism: Educational Video"

Interestingly it's the 3rd largest religion behind Christianity & Islam. They believe in one true god.

(This was great for to me to watch since back in CA I had been around a Sikh famliy and never knew it. All I could tell was that they were from India. It took us quite some time to realize the two kids in my daughter's Tae Kwan Do class were not girls and actually boys! They wore their long hair wrapped in a bun on their heads. Sometimes w/a white or black fabric covering. The dad always wore a turbin. A rare site in So Cal.)

(Foreshadow of Anti-Christ & False Prophet but w/different motivation factor? Economic?)
"Mahatma Gandhi led the nation to freedom by uniting the people of various religions by motivating them towards the common goal of Indian Independence."

jib said...

well this will likely get lost in the shuffle

-about those seals, while I realize some think they have come to pass up to the 6th seal I have reservations about that since generally folks point to the whole "past tense" language used as well as the Lamb being found worthy to open the scroll and that happened a long time ago. while I don't necessarily agree with all that Dolphin Lambert said in his article on heaven that I posted a few posts ago it did get me to thinking. We are such linear beings and we have a past present and future and God is not a linear being and Lambert makes the point that he feels God exists outside of our temporal universe. Think about it , another way of saying "I AM" is "God IS"-the active tense, no passive voice, passive tense etc he is always in the active tense at all times. period. he sees past present and future as one and I think that is part of the problem with our understanding of things like predestination, 6th seal or not, pre trib, post trib etc. God if you will is not a temporal being and not subject to the restrictions imposed by that. His contention is that God exists in eternity. If you follow that down rabbit holes as I have been doing applying that concept to different things it is amazing. which is a long way to say I don't think any of the seals have been opened at this time despite the use of past tense language. you'd have to read the whole article to understand where I'm coming from.

I also thought Frucht was rather fruity if you will with his contention in Footsteps that a one world government will be in place BEFORE the AC takes over. that he comes on the scene by confirming a covenant and appears to come on the scene from outside the one world system in place at that time. Mac made the point that as the US hiccups so does the rest of the world. If we go down, everyone goes down. I can see with the looming financial crisis that is happening world wide a one world government cobbled together to combine the resources of the world to stabilize things financially. just a thought

Nate, that made the hairs stand up all over my body! I didn't realize the import of what was happening in our realm on Russia. I expected it on the other nations that we, as the USA, used to consider borrower nations. Seems our appetite for credit has become a world wide scourge.

But Russia is the one we have been hearing about so much lately and it has all been as lenders and super duper dealers. Now, my ancient imagination started clicking into a wrinkle related to our Jim C. and I came up with something that is a little scary to me. If you take out the USA and Russia financially, who is left to be the super power?

If, like Joyce's comment stated, the AC is not part of the world gov but comes onto the scene from the background, what nation will promote him to such a place that he would even be recognized as a worthwhile leader?

Then Nate comes back with the statement right after JIB and if that info is correct and the congress knew this was going to happen, then they could be held accountable for dereliction of sworn duties. That would bring the whole gov down and that is not a wise or happy thought.

So, now put the puzzle together and you begin to understand why there is such a panic to get the presidency for the Liberal minded Senate and House. But even a blind man can see that the credit mess is something that most people bought into a long time ago.

Will we be guilty of destroying our own country? By the way, I cannot and will not accept the argument that any of the Seal Judgments have begun. You have to have the sequence of events happening or have happened in the order that they are expressed in Revelation. Remembering that God is very well organized and when it comes to judgment he is not going to become suddenly spastic.

Ideas and theory is an interesting topic but it is important to remember, they are just that. There is a special little apocalypse of Isaiah 24:1 thru to 27:13 that I find very interesting and something worth while to study.

But could a world government come into power simply over the financial failure of nations? I have no idea in that regard but I do know that there are forces working to destroy this nation.

Just some stinking thinking.

I totally agree about the seal judgements-I don't think they have happened yet either but a number do and it is mostly due to language usage. I think we forget that we are linear and God is not.

here's a scenario. The financial situation worldwide starts to get worse. McCain and Palin win but McCain dies before being sworn in due to some liberal nut job which leaves Palin as President. Israel hits Iran during the time between the election and the new President taking office, one of it's missiles strays and decimates Damascus (IS 17) and in retaliation Ps 83 and/or EZ 38 occur (maybe we are looking at different facets of the same war or different campaigns in a war-kind of like the European theatre and the Pacific theatre in WW@). Then on the heels of this or nearly at the same time the Rapture happens leaving whomever Palin has picked to be VP as President of worse yet Pelosi is president since no VP replacement was confirmed due to partisan politics. The world is in chaos and the community organizer beloved of the world suggests that we pool our resources-we are after all global citizens. by that time the standard of living should be so poor all over that it would be an easy sell. at that point all anyone would need to do to take over the world is to take out the 3 key players or regions and the remaining 7 would crumple before whomever is taking over. and there you have it.
