God is Not Obsolete

Of course, many foes of morality and religion have attempted to argue that new scientific discoveries make belief in God obsolete, but what they actually demonstrate is the remarkable and unique nature of man and the universe. It is hard not to believe that these gifts were given by a divine Creator, who alone can unlock the secrets of existence. (Margaret Thatcher, 1994)

My brother lives in the UK but has been working in Brussels and other European cities for the past few years.

In general he finds that the Europeans tend to think that Christians are weak and need Christ as a crutch because of this weakness! They seem to not need God because they have progress past this primative belief system and have evolved beyond this.....

Whereas he finds that people in the UK are aggressively against Chritianity and discount it as religious 'junk' which is very sad!
On SkyNews I have heard the commentators refer to their country as "Post Christian UK". Remeber the nurse that was fired because she prayed for a patient!

Jeri, it is sad. We must pray for a final outpouring prior to the Lord's return.

Jim G, I've been thinking about many of the same things in regards to Sept and into the fall.

Here is the list that has been dancing around in my head for the last couple of weeks.

Ramadan ends Sept 19
Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown on Friday September 18 and ends at nightfall on Sunday September 20

Wilkerson's Urgent Message and Conlon's prophetic messages.

The upcoming peace negotiations and Netanyahu's firm stand on settlements

George Will's surprising call to get out of Afghanistan and Iraq, which reminded me of Chuck Colson's dream/vision, and then a few days ago I heard Krauthammer say we will see "helicoptors at the embassy in Kabul"

Iran with enough uranium for 2 nukes, and who knows what else they already have of their own or from No Korea

And then yesterday I read this. Is another 9/11 set to unfold?

I don't know what all of this means, maybe nothing but a bunch of coincidences. Maybe hyperbole and wild imaginations. I am sober, but not afraid...even though my husband will be flying out of DC the morning of 9/11.

I think most here are familiar with the Daniel's Timeline videos on youtube by Dewey Bruton, which I think are extremely thought provoking. If you haven't seen them, you must.

I only bring this up because I found a site using timelines based on the Daniels Timeline videos by Dewey Bruton except that it appears to include alot more info. The site has a pdf slideshow laying out the reasons why this year is likely the year for things to really start happening in a big way. I think most of us here feel that way anyway, but it's always nice to see it laid out in a scholarly way using scripture.

The slideshow chapters are on this page...

(sorry -- punched the wrong button and posted this on the old page first.)

Lisa, Shalom! One of the chief tenets of Islam is that Allah is one, he neither has children nor takes a wife. It's a key component of the Islamic view of sexuality that the idea of G_D simply willing His Son into being is very difficult to believe. (I.e., the only way for G_D to have a child is for Him to take a wife and have sex with her, much as Zeus did. It's a pagan concept.) In a sense, it's hard for them to believe that because it is counter to "the laws of nature", i.e., a miracle; and Islam does not have the same view of "miracles" as Christians do.

In the Christian view, G_D created the Heavens and the Earth. He established the rules of nature and set things in motion. When you drop a ball on the ground, it falls in the way it does because the rules G_D set up (laws of gravity) dictate that it does. A miracle is when, for whatever reason, G_D suspends these laws. In Islam, Allah not only created everything, he CONTROLS everything AT ALL TIMES. That ball falls not because of some "law", it falls because Allah is actively causing it to fall in the way it does. Allah does this with each and every thing in the universe. So a miracle isn't an exception to the rules; it's simply that Allah has deemed that things will go THIS way instead of THAT way as he normally commands.

It's also the idea that the woman might be a active part of this act of creation (the Incarnation), rather than being simply a willing OR unwilling receptacle, that some may find impossible to believe, even repulsive.

To witness to him, you'll have to make clear that the idea of G_D taking a wife as humans do is a pagan belief; that G_D chose Mary to bring His Son into this world AND that when asked, Mary accepted; and that having a Son who was both true G_D and true man was essential for G_D's plan of salvation for us.

If your questioner starts asking about the Trinity, make sure he knows that G_D the Father, G_D the Son, and G_D the Holy Spirit are NOT three aspects of the same god. That, again, is a pagan concept. Rather, they are three separate Persons in one God -- something we cannot understand as humans.

HELP! For months I believed that while we "may not know the day or the hour," we can know the time and the season. I've just spent half an hour with Biblegateway.com trying to find the source for that statement. All I could find was Acts 1:7, which said that we are NOT to know the time or the season (when the Kingdom of Israel will be reinstated); and the section in Matthew where Jesus rebukes the people because they can read the signs of the weather but not the signs of the times.

Can anyone point me to the scripture that supports knowing the time or the season?

Jim C. This is what I responded with but I'm not the one who origionally wrote it. It was written by another GMO volunteer who specializes w/Hinus & Muslims.

"What is the meaning of Jesus being called the “Son of God”? It does NOT mean that God had relations with Mary and she gave birth to a son like that. Christians have NEVER said that and the Bible does NOT teach that anywhere in Old Testament or New Testament (Taurat or Injil). God is glorious and does not have physical relations with humans. God is able to do miracles and he put the seed that was necessary in the womb of Mary so that a baby could develop. When the Bible calls Jesus “Son of God” it means that He came to do God’s will perfectly as a son would obey his father. Jesus fulfilled the ROLE of a son. It also means that Jesus had the nature of God. A horse produces a horse; a camel produces a camel. A human produces a human, and God produces God. In the case of Jesus, He was unique, having the nature of God in the form of a human. So in the Injil Jesus is called both “Son of God” and “Son of Man.” You can see divine nature and human body in Jesus."

I'll include some of your points too the next time. I see the Trinity- Father,Son,Holy Spirit as three different attributes of One God because they work in different roles yet they are all distinct beings. You're right. It's hard to explain & understand in the flesh.

That's why it's easy for Muslims to grasp-one God-that's it. Also, I didn't know what their view on miracles was-so that's helpful.

When they all come against Israel & get blown to bits (once again) I wonder what they'll think of Allah then? Right now w/all the inroads & progress they're making I'm sure they feel like they're in the cat bird's seat.

It's great what Rosenburg's group recently promoted in Israel w/those Christian packets to Muslims there. Also, El Shaddi Ministries mentioned that Israel jumped up to 15th for most visited just in the past 3 months from being on the tail end of the list. Something must be stirring them up!

Have you noticed that on all (that I've seen) prophecy sites from countries most visited that the U.S. is #1? I've never even seen our country in 2nd place. The U.S. is still really lit up on the GMO site-so I take that as a positive sign. A lot of people are searching for God.(even if it doesn't seem like it to us individually.)

And the "Enlightened" UK Population! What can you say about that? The only thing they are enlightened with is the spirit of the Anti-Christ. It does still make sense to me that he'll arise out of that mess. They have been given over to a depraved mind & hardness of heart.

FYI-(From Moms in Touch email)

Dear Mom,
Fall is just around the corner and our precious children are going back to school. You may have mixed emotions as you send them off for another year. I know I did! It’s what brought me to my knees twenty-five years ago and caused me to find another mom to join me in crying out to the Lord on behalf of our children and school. I pray that you have also found at least one other mom to join you in prayer for this year.

It grows increasingly urgent to gather and pray in light of what a teacher here in southern California wrote recently. She encountered a man “praying” near her high school classroom. It turned out he was from the nearby church of Satan. He boldly said that their churches send teams every week to pray Satan onto school campuses. We must cry out for our children. The enemy is not resting, not giving up, and neither can we!

Lisa, you will find that it is impossible to explain the trinity in a way that will be understandable to a muslim. If one were to apply logic and reason to Islam, one would quickly reject one or the other. Islam is about obedience and acceptance, not understanding.

On the other hand, a good starting point in the discussion is to ask a muslim to explain the person of allah. They will very quickly assert that allah is god, and as such he is beyond explanation.

If that is the case with allah, then why would they conclude that the Trinity is false because they can not understand it. In truth, if one were to totally understand and be able to explain the Trinity, then that person would have to be equal to, or greater than God. He must be accepted by faith. What is true of allah is far more true of the true God.

You might find my sermon "God in Relationship" helpful. It is on my blogsite.

"This is also the period that the remnant of God‟s people is not protected, those who were not accounted worthy by God to be taken to the Place of Safety. Rev 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman,...."

What is this? He thinks that the "Church" who is accounted worthy will all be in Jerusalem & will flee into the wilderness under God's protection. The Christians who were not worthy will not be in Jerusalem at the time & won't make it in time because the airlines will not be available. It will be too late @ the last minute. I guess He has to ignore the "Tribes of Israel" who were sealed right beforehand.

***Replacement Theology Alert.***

Not to mention I thought the King of the North & the King of the South battle refer in time right before the daily sacrifices are taken away in Dan. 11:29. Maybe it happens right after the two witnesses are killed?

But look what the Saints @ the time do : "Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt w/flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong (OH YEAH!!!), and carry out great exploits. (Hear that? GREAT Exploits!) And those of the people who understand shall instruct many(Hear that? MANY); yet for many days they shall fall by the sword and flame by captivity and plundering. (My Grace is enough) Now when they fall, they shall be aided by a little help ( how about numbing the pain? I like that idea)but many will join them by intrigue. And some of those with understanding (some- not all) shall fall, to refine them (the other saints), purify them, and make them white, until the time of the end; because it is still for the appointed time.

If we were a saint still around during this period look at the Glory of God which could shine through you in such an hour of darkness. I wonder if there will be a sequel to the Bible for the Millennium children which describes the details & lives of people in this time of history?

Lisa, I agree with Jib re the wrath of God being present in the first 4 seals. The debate generally involves the exclamation of the unbelievers at the 6th seal and the word “wrath” orge first appearing there. Are they just realising God’s wrath now or are they somehow predicting it? Also some claim that, up to that point, it’s been only man’s and Satan’s wrath. But we can’t escape the fact that it’s Christ’s action that releases the seal judgments and when we go to Romans 13:3-5 we discover that God’s wrath/orge is actually delivered via His authority through others. Compare Rom 13:3-5 with Rev 6:8.

The 5th seal martyrs aren’t martyred because the seal has been opened. The verb John used is in the past tense. The opening of the seal only reveals what’s transpired. The cry of the martyrs is a cry for specific avenging of their blood. It doesn’t mean God’s wrath isn’t present.

BTW, I was reading an article the other week that raised an interesting issue. The writer made the point that Paul doesn’t actually designate whose or which wrath (1 Thess 1:10, 1 Thess 5:9). I'm still thinking about that one.

Whoops. I should have mentioned that not everything Dewey Bruton says I agree with, but there is alot on his youtube video that I think everyone would find interesting. I guarantee anyone watching his entire video on youtube will find at least a few things of interest that are worth considering.

Mac,

I know. It sometimes gets to be a little bit much. You hear of Satan's wrath, Man's wrath, and God's wrath.

Then they argue over who's wrath is who's.

I always thought the whole Trib event was God's judgment and/or wrath-no matter which vehicle He allows it to be delivered through.

But I suppose that Man's & Satan's wrath could also coincide w/God's wrath but they are just tools in the process.

Now I'm reading the latest Prophecy in the News mag & they say how the 2 witnesses will probably occur "before" the 70th week begins. Not to mention a few of these prophetic wars. Matthew 24makes the list of the signs of His coming but-"the end is not yet" meaning the 7 year countdown.

Lisa, you're still up? I guess that's why you're Late Night Lisa!

One other point regarding the 5th seal martyrs. Some time after I left the New Age and began reading Revelation, I was a little shocked with Rev 6:10. Would true Christians really be pleading for vengeance? Compare the account of Stephen’s martyrdom and even more recent events where the wives of three martyred Christian men forgave the killers of their husbands.

Anonymous said...

Mac,

I'm puzzled as to what you mean by your remarks, Would true Christians really be pleading for vengeance? Compare the account of Stephen’s martyrdom and even more recent events where the wives of three martyred Christian men forgave the killers of their husbands.

If not true believers, who do you think those souls are who are in heaven, under the altar, who the Bible states are those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held?

Alesia said...

Are you wearing the "belt of truth"?

Stand your ground, putting on the sturdy belt of truth. Ephesians 6:14 NLT

The belt of truth

"You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free," says Jesus (John 8:32). But what will the truth set us free from?

First of all, it sets us free from the snares of deception. When people know the truth, they can't be taken in by a lie. You can't convince people to believe in something that they know in their hearts and minds is false.

The truth will also set you free from guilt and shame. When you've held tightly to the truth, you don't have to worry about a lie coming back to haunt you. You don't spend your nights lying awake wondering what words of deception might trap and ensnare you. You are free to live with a clean conscience and an innocent heart.

Finally, the truth sets you free from judgment. When you trust in the truth of Jesus, you have no more fear of death—physical or spiritual. You know his promises to be true and his words to be life-giving. You can no longer be bound by Satan's lies.

The belt of truth Paul writes about is the strap that holds together the entire armor of God. Without it, everything else would fall away and Satan would have an open target to your heart. So take the truth of Christ, and latch it firmly around your waist. Let it set you free!

Mac and Anonymous, Shalom! My take on the 5th seal martyrs isn't that they are calling out for revenge. They are calling for G_D to AVENGE their blood. This is different. Revenge is when you try to take someone's blood/property/life as a consequence of something they have done against you, WHETHER YOU HAVE LEGAL AUTHORITY DO TO SO, OR NOT. To avenge means that these same actions are taken on your behalf by someone with the legal authority to do so. In my translation (NAB), the martyrs are not crying out for revenge. They are saying How long will it be, holy and true master, before you sit in judgment and avenge our blood on the inhabitants of the earth? Their blood cannot be avenged until G_D sits in judgment. They are asking when that judgment will be.

Jack Kinsella (a dispensationalist) raised this issue some time ago after someone argued that the church needed to go through Daniel’s 70th week to be somehow refined. As you are probably aware, that is one of the contentions of those who believe the rapture occurs either in or after the 70th week. My remark wasn’t meant to denigrate the martyred saints in any way but to highlight an anomaly in comparison to church behavior and past martyrs. As Jack pointed out, there seems to be a contradiction to the notion that the church is being refined in the tribulation yet is pleading for vengeance. Is this what a refined bride of Christ would pray for? How many of us pray for vengeance now? If we do – do you see a problem there? Jack sees a different economy of trib saints asking for vengeance. I think he makes a good point.

Mac,

Further on John asks who are those people? The answer is that they come out of great tribulation or the great tribulation.

So I guess they are not all of the martyred saints’ throughout ancient history but from a time specific period?

What do you think this means from Daniel 11 speaking of saints in the Tribulation? "And some of those with understanding shall fall, to refine them, purify them, and make them white, until the time of the end; because it is still for the appointed time. "

Some shall fall-why?-to refine, purify, and make white until the time of the end. It does sound like they are dying for a greater purpose. Is it because they pass on their "understanding" to others?

Is anyone good @ looking up the definations in the origional text?

(Here is more in the context.)
"And those of the people who understand shall instruct many yet for many days they shall fall by the sword and flame by captivity and plundering. Now when they fall, they shall be aided by a little help but many will join them by intrigue. And some of those with understanding shall fall, to refine them, purify them, and make them white, until the time of the end; because it is still for the appointed time. "

Well, every year around this time it seems like people are inspired to send out "Left Behind" videos.Ooooo-Could it be perhaps Rosh Hashanah?

The Lion & the Lamb Ministry just told their readership to email this one out Did Many People Disappear?

I'm not quite buying into the unbeliever's kids being raptured though. In the Bible the unbeliever's children were never spared under His judgment.

They didn't get a free pass just because they were kids. It was always the parent's responsibility to raise them up in a God honoring home. In that way the blessings flowed from generation to generation.

God does give His people some extra perks that unbelievers don't get. In the Bible the unbeliever's children were dashed to pieces & even killed in their mother's womb. Only His people were provided a way to escape.

Of course if the kids are old enough to accept Christ even if their parents are unbelievers I think they'll be taken up.

It would make more of an incentive to get their acts together & repent if the Christian families they knew were all raptured but their entire family was left behind. Due to the hard heart & unbelief of the parents-their children where therefore left with them. (The Parent's fault.) If the kid is old enough to accept Christ but instead rejects Him-that child will be left. If one of the parents were Christian then I think God would take all the children. The parent w/the unbelief wouldn't negate the believing parent.

We know there will be people pregnant during the Trib-so the unbeliever’s raptured kid scenario just doesn't make much sense to me. Their kids are taken so then they have more kids to go through the Tribulation. Is that just for the new crop of kids?

If the timing is pre-Trib then it will definitely play a part in the great delusion.

I know some people cringe @ the thought of any babies or kids being left behind. Is there any place in the Bible that God spared the children of the unrighteous when He judged them? If there is then I could believe it.

It may not be just in His eyes & it's something we don't understand.

(I do think all kids who die go to be w/Jesus though. But again there really isn't a great example of that in the Bible either.)

Lisa, I should hasten to add that I could be wrong. But coming fresh from the New Age, the impression I got when I first read Rev 6:10 was that this was a reflection of the saying “Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth”. It bothered me reading that at the time. I’ve read different theories regarding the 5th seal martyrs. Some suggest they represent martyrs throughout history. Maybe that’s why they ask, “…how long?” I don’t know – I tend to think they’re recent martyrs.

The elder actually raises the question re the identity of the great multitude. John didn’t seem to know and the elder told him they came out of the great trib. Some actually deny a relationship between them and the 5th seal martyrs. It’s enough to give me a headache.

According to Dr Fruchtenbaum “Footsteps of the Messiah”, the seven year period is for the judgment of the nations and to refine Israel. The debate is whether this includes the church. If the church needs to go thru the trib to be refined then what about those who missed it? Do they miss out on some necessary refining process? I’m aware that the seven letters to the churches contain verses that some use to support the idea that the church needs to experience the trib.

I believe the believers under the altar are martyred after the rapture takes place.

Those who are martyred before the rapture, will come with Jesus and they will be resurrected FIRST and those of us who remain will be changed and rise with them to meet Jesus in the air.

According to Dr Fruchtenbaum “Footsteps of the Messiah”, the seven year period is for the judgment of the nations and to refine Israel. The debate is whether this includes the church. If the church needs to go thru the trib to be refined then what about those who missed it?

Couldn't the same question be asked about Israelites who miss the refining of Israel because they died prior to the refining process starting?

I really hope that the Lord allows the cup of the great tribulation to pass from us (in other words, I hope we're raptured before the tribulation period starts) but I'm not holding my breath and I want to have the attitude that our Lord Jesus Christ had towards His and our Father in Heaven.

With regard to BO now chairing the UN.

This totally reminds me of REV 17:13.

I think the UN currently has 5 permanent member nations, but with BO in charge, could he manage to move five other nations that were Muslim into permanent member nation status? If so, wouldn't that give Rev. 17:13 new meaning?

Just speculating wildly here.

This post from fivedoves is related to my last post regarding BO chairing the UN.

Many Christians feel that some of the Psalms line up with the years and therefore Psalm 109 would equate to 2009. The following part of that Psalm is particularly interesting to me:

Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand. When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin. Let his days be few; and let another take his office.

It's interesting that Obama's birth certificate issue won't die and if he is exposed and forced out of office, it could be a reference to suffering a "head" wound--similar to how Jesus is the "head" of the body or church, Obama is currently usurping the head position of the U.S. His "recovery" from the head wound could be his taking a head position of the United Nations or European Union where he would have even more power with Satan's help.

I saw that one of the heads of the beast seemed wounded beyond recovery—but the fatal wound was healed! The whole world marveled at this miracle and gave allegiance to the beast. They worshiped the dragon for giving the beast such power, and they also worshiped the beast. “Who is as great as the beast?” they exclaimed. “Who is able to fight against him?” Revelation 3:13

It's getting very interesting.

Jim G, perhaps refining Israel was the wrong expression. I just checked Dr Fruchtenbaum’s book. He actually gives three reasons for the trib on pages 175 to 179 of his book “Footsteps”.

1) To make an end of wickedness and wicked ones
2) To bring about worldwide revival
3) To break the power of the Holy People (in other words to save a remnant from Israel or national regeneration)

As scary as beheading/martyrdom would be, I think the tib with the famine and pestilence etc (Rev 6:8) could be even worse. One thing’s for sure, if we abide in Him and we find ourselves in the trib, He’ll provide us with the strength to go through it.

ATTY, I’m flip flopping again. Maybe BHO is Carpathia after all.

I stayed up to rewrite it -AGAIN. It was a little different but I wasn't going to let Mr. Zappo take me out. This is not the 1st time this has happened either. I almost expect it now at times.

(This Bin Laden actually from Africa-not Saudi Arabia.)

I understood it as a call to holiness & protecting the youth. Others either agreed w/him or were totally offended by him.

Late Night Lisa said...

Atty,

That was a good post. I had all the same thoughts run through my mind as well.

I still don't think Obama is the Anti-Christ though. For some reason I just do not-I could be wrong.

Maybe I'm expecting someone more dynamic or "out of this world" hint, hint. Maybe Obama is really some crafty cunning intelligent manipulating sidewinder. I know he has an "agenda" but my perception is that's he's an imbecile.

Doesn't the person of the Anti-Christ rise up out of 10 kingdoms? Kind of all of a sudden? So what I'm thinking is that the 10 areas/kingdoms are already beaten down & ready to go in the direction of the NWO. To me Obama is a mini-wheat getting the U.S. tenderized & in position. Maybe one of the 10 kings.

That dream posted of the spiky light-or glory of God & the Adam & Eve reference good too. Pastor Ray said the exact same thing about the nakedness of Adam & Eve & they ran & hid when the glory of God left their bodies when they sinned. They realized something
went wrong & hid. He didn't say it probably had a spike appearance but it was "light". Interesting.

I don't think Pastor Ray is the type to have dreams & visions. At least if He does I've never heard him say anything.

I had my 1st rapture themed dream last night-not prophetic. Probably from all this talk lately. I was walking in a crowd of people all walking in the same direction and I overheard a conversation of some people up ahead of me & a little off to the side. There was a person telling another that on this day (soon) a group of people will be taken away. Implied as in the New Age style-to be re-vibrated or what have you. (This is something I would probably not do) I called out to them something to the effect that -It's the rapture I'm going up in! Implying that it's a Christ event & not their delusional view.

Lisa
I used to think that the AC arose from one of the 10 kingdoms also but if you read the passage without preconceptions it actually seems to indicate that the 10 kings/one world government is in place and the AC arises outside of that power structure. I first read this in Footsteps of the Messiah and had a real problem with this interpretation as it is so counter to what many teach but after reading and rereading and studying the passage I just can't come up with an alternate way of reading it. So needless to say it was minding blowing to consider that the one world government would be in place before the AC not formed by the AC which of course meant or means it is entirely conceivable that it could be in place before the Rapture!

I am in no way suggesting that Boo is the antichrist. But he has been groomed for this situation. Why else would this elitist group choose him? He has very little political experience.

He is merely a pawn for the king

Late Night Lisa said...

Jib, Yes that's sort of what I was alluding to. Set up and ready-then wham-here the AC comes. But like you said-it's more of a recent thought isn't it?

Remember not long ago there was not an "obvious" global currency or "popular" technology to track your every move & input your health records, or $$ into?

The plans were always there but they were not headline news like they are today which is now difficult to ignore. And guess what? We are still here & witnessing the entire "global" transformation. Living history does have a way to alter a person's perception of things.

I was @ the car repair shop today & lo & behold who comes on the TV? Joel Rosenberg. They had the CBN station on (In CA even! wow! I almost forgot I was out of the Bible belt.) Rosenberg was on fire & reminded me that he's showing "Inside the Revolution" online tomorrow. 9/11. Is anyone here going to watch it?

Then of course I couldn't help to think how many of us here met-from his previous blog site. I have a way of thinking about "The Ancient of Days" as being "Ancient" when He is far beyond our comprehension in the 1st place as He wields the power of cyber-space for His glory.

Did you know this about John Whitecliffe?

How Much Can One Man be Hated?
From Todd Friel of WretchedRadio.com

Imagine you are the Pope in the fourteenth century (just work with me), when one of your priests suggests that you are the Antichrist.

It is understandable that you would be annoyed, but would you dig up that priest's bones and burn them to ashes? That is exactly what happened to John Wycliffe, the Morning Star of the Reformation.

John Wycliffe is generally considered the first great English reformer for his desire to see the Bible translated into the language of the people. For his troubles, he earned himself a Papal Bull (commanding him to stop). What was Wycliffe's response to the Pope?

"Why do you speak against the Holy Ghost? You say that the Church of God is in danger from this book. How can that be? It is you who place the Church in jeopardy."

Wycliffe didn't stop there; he attacked many cherished doctrines of the Catholic Church.

Selling salvation (indulgences) is a sin.

The Catholic view of communion (transubstantiation) is not in the Bible.

Scripture is our supreme authority, not tradition.

Infant baptism is not a means of salvation.

"It is supposed, and with much probability, that the Roman pontiff is the great Antichrist."
In 1381 Wycliffe was expelled from his post at Oxford. He died after a stroke in 1384 and was buried, but not for long. At the Council of Constance of 1415, Wycliffe was condemned by the Pope and his bones were ordered dug up and burned.

One commenter described the scene, "Wycliffe's bones were exhumed and burned and the ashes scattered in the Swift River. What sight could be more unscriptural, more pagan, more wicked, than these Catholic leaders digging up old bones in a grave yard so they can publicly desecrate the long-dead Bible translator and preacher of the gospel of grace?"

But it was Wycliffe who had the last laugh. As The British historian Thomas Fuller wrote:
"To the city of Lutterworth they came, to take what was left out of the grave, and burned them to ashes, and cast them into Swift River. Thus this brook carried his ashes into the Avon River; Avon into the Severn River; Severn into the narrow Seas; they, into the main Ocean. And thus the Ashes of Wycliffe are the Emblem of his Doctrine, which now, is dispersed all the World over."

Thanks to men like John Wycliffe, you and I have a Bible in our language that teaches us that we are saved by grace alone. May we too take that good news "all the World over."

If you've not listened to Pastor Chan, you're really missing out. He's brutal at times, oftentimes after listening to a sermon, I feel like a wretched human, but so thankful because I desperately needed to hear the message & be constantly reminded.

Alistair Begg is also very good (cool accent).
I recently realized he's from my area & I went to his church this past Sunday, hoping to hear him in person, he wasn't the pastor that day though.
However, it was a mega church & that turned me off a bit, so not sure I'll be going back.

I've bookmarked the site & will dig into it, when I'm not so tired.

Very interesting comment that someone (apparently a Messianic Jew) left following the article to which Lisa provided a link. Rabbi Ovadia: Messiah will rule Sephardic-style

12. When the Messiah comes, Zechariah the Prophet says the first

thing he will do after winning the Battle of Armageddon is to judge the nations by how they treated the Jews. That will show which nations are sheep nations and which are goat nations. The laws that will be enforced are the laws given to Moses and also the Beatitudes of Rabbi Yeshua which are rules for the kingdom of God, not during Gentile world rule. No one who makes a lie will be allowed to enter the Holy City of Jerusalem. This is profound because unless leaders go to the Temple once a year to worship the Lord, that nation will get no rain for the year. Since a leader who lies cannot enter the Holy City much less the Temple, the people will have to change leaders to get rain. The Laws of Moses will be enforced immediately and without mercy for offenders. Adulterers and fornicators will be executed and lose their place in the thousand year lifespan of the Millenial Kingdom. Life will be wonderful in some ways with no wars until the end of the Millenium when Satan is released and will deceive the nations in a final rebellion. It will be far tougher compared to Sephardic rules, but a paradise again like the Garden of Eden.

Also, has anyone ever heard this before. I will post some of the article here but will post the site so you can read the rest of it:

Barack is the Eighth

By: Kevin Heckle

Revelation 17:10-11 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. (11) And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.

At the time of the Apostle John’s writing of the Book of Revelation, which was probably around 69-70 AD at the earliest, the emperorship of Rome was in contention. On 6-9-68 AD, Nero the FIFTH emperor of Rome committed suicide. This sparked a struggle for power that lasted about a year and a half culminating in Vespasian becoming the permanent emperor on 12-21-69 AD. He defeated three usurpers; Galba, Otho and Vitellius to become emperor of Rome. Vespasian retained power for about ten years until his death on 6-23-79 AD. His son Titus, whom destroyed the Temple, only held the office from the death of his father in 79 AD until September 13, 81 AD when he died. Out of these first seven emperors of Rome, Titus was the one to disperse the Jews prior to ascending to the throne.

FIVE FALLEN KINGS at the time of John’s writing Revelation:

1. Augustus

2. Tiberius

3. Caligula

4. Claudius

5. Nero (Died 68 AD)

ONE IS (Occupied the office of emperor at John’s writing Revelation)

6. Vespasian (Overcame three usurpers on 12-21-69)

THE OTHER NOT YET COME; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.

7. Titus (destroyed the Temple in 70 AD, became emperor in 79 and died only a few short years later in 81)

THAT WAS AND IS NOT, EVEN HE IS THE EIGHTH AND OF THE SEVEN

8. Beast? (Antichrist) Will be of Roman Descent

According to Richard L. Wills research at http://www.fivedoves.com/letters/aug2009/richardw820.htm Barack Hussein Obama fits EXACTLY as he is the 59th Great Grandson of Caesar Augustus!!!!

By my reckoning, the count stopped with the death of the Roman (Titus) whom previously dispersed the Jews in 70 AD. Barack IS the EIGHTH in line starting with Caesar Augustus, suspended after Titus (the destroyer of the Temple). The Eighth could only come to power in the 42nd year after Jerusalem was restored (1967) as there are only a total of 49 years in the final 70th week (7 DAYS X 7 YEARS). The antichrist has to hold office at the beginning of Tribulation to implement the peace treaty. He also has to be in power mid-way through until the end for 42 months (possessed by Satan) to be defeated and cast into the lake of fire (goeth into perdition) by Jesus.

Also, does anyone know of any good audio commentary of current events-prophecy wise?

Today is the 8th anniversary of 911. Regardless of what we think about how it was done, one dynamic that will never change is the fact that almost 3000 people lost their lives that day. As some of you know I have trouble with several elements of that day. The collapse of building 7, just doesn’t make sense and the Pentagon plane, which left no wing imprint in the building and whose engines were never found. On the other hand radical Islam is real, it is an ominous threat and the hatred that these radicals have for anyone who does not hold to Sharia law is contrary to our way of life. Without getting verbose here, I will give you a link that honors the dead, and remembers them. It is a fully orchestrated piece of music that I wrote and produced. It is a tribute to the fallen….. There is however a very slim chance that it could possibly be sited after sundown September 19th, then September 20th will become Rosh Hashanah. actually I think those questions are quite good. Having been to a true megachurch at least as a visitor I can tell you I didn't care for the fact that I would barely see the pastor without the ubiquitous cameras and screens. It did feel a little impersonal to me but that could be because we were visitors. I do think it might be what you make of it and how involved you get.

I do have to wonder though whether the seeming impersonalness of it is what draws some people to such a church-certainly I would think it would be easier to blend in and be less accountable if you weren't involved. From observing churches which are large enough to have several services but do not have space or whatever to have a single space for all to meet I can tell you it can lead almost to an us against them problems especially over music and programs. I know our church struggles with this to an extent in the winter months when our winter visitors come back and we go from one service to 3. My parents church really struggles with this and essentially the older people have been made to feel like their needs with regards to what they find as an atmosphere conducive to worship are of no value. One of the really larger churches bordering on megachurch in the area has told their older members that if they don't like the music to go elsewhere.

as to the claustrophobia issues those will disappear since they also are the result of the Fall.

interesting side note-Sept 24th is shaping up to be a rather interesting day as well. Not only is BOO going to chair the Security council meeting but G20 meets that day in Pennsylvania. The deadline for Iran on their nuclear program is also up that day. I doubt it is very coincidental that BOO is chairing the security council on the day when the Iran deadline happens.

Well, I have to admit I rarely ever sit next to the same person twice unless I know them.

They really stress joining a small group Bible Study but I don't know the % of people who do. It's especially important in such a large setting as it's the only way to really fellowship unless you become involved in the various ministries. This week I'm starting in on a women's study at the Church called "Women meeting God Face to Face". (It's over 12 weeks long.)

Our theme verse for this study is below:

2Cor. 3:18 "But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit."

I do like having all of the various ethnic backgrounds & wide range of ages @ this large Church.
It goes from Teen all the way to grandma-gramps. I just think of it as a sea of saints coming together in unity of praising the Most High.
At least that's how I like to think of it- in a positive light.
A mini glimpse of all peoples
, tribes, tongues, & nations.

The mid-sized Baptist church in SC my mom occasionally attends is mostly a sea of grey hair & white southerners. (Same w/the little Baptist Church I occasionally went to in TN.) Not much ethnic diversity if any. But that may just be the location & the fact it's in the South.

In CA race is much more mixed up w/o any big deal made about it. In fact to be strictly Caucasian is a rarity @ this point. Not so when I was a child though.

My large church in Florida was very ethnically diverse, so when I moved to Michigan and visited my new husband's non-denom. megachurch, I was surprised to see that 99.9% were Caucasian.

My own little church of which I am a member here (50 members)is more ethnically diverse though.

I do like small churches better, but every member has to wear multiple hats and must help out in many ways. For example, I do the bulletin every other month, have a appointed section of the garden to weed, help clean the church every other month or so, help with cooking schools, in charge of starting the new library, attend business meetings, and for 8 years I was in charge of the social activities--as well as help out in anything needed.

So that may be why many people like to go to large chuches--they can blend in the background and just enjoy! My husband says he likes large churches better because they have better music.

My church is medium to large. I can always see someone I know within a few rows and yet I have a new neighbor who has attended my church for 15 years and we never saw each other before! However, we know many of the same people. My pastor knows me by name and responds to my emails. I am not very involved, but am somewhat.

I love being amongst a large number of people worshiping together. I'd probably love to worship in a mega church, don't know if I'd like attending regularly.

Here's what I think: even if many people go to a large church so they can blend in, that's ok! They may come around and feel more comfortable, making relationships and experiencing accountability in their time, with God's help. At least they are in church, hopefully one which preaches the gospel. I'm not criticizing any one's viewpoint, just expressing mine.

Dear Anne and All,

In re-reading my last post, I see now I could have stated a few things much better.

First of all, I didn't mean to say large churches aren't good and that people who attend don't want to get involved! Far be it from me to say that! So I hope I haven't offended anyone.

What I meant to say was (and from personal experience), it is much easier to sit back and not get involved in a large church. In a small church everyone is needed, so it's much harder not to have to do something.

Also, I hope I didn't sound like I was bragging about all the things I do in my church. I do far less than many of the members, and some of the things I do, I could do much better. You wouldn't believe all the mistakes a person can make in a two-page bulletin! I was just trying to show the variety of things that one has to do to help a church run.

So please forgive me!

Vicki,

You're so cute. No offense taken.

It's true-if one so desires they can just blend into the background.

I guess I sort of like that-don't mind it anyway. I'm not the personality that really wants to be noticed. My style is sitting back & taking a survey of the situation. After I think I've got it down then I make my move. If I'm noticed fine-if I'm not I don't get worked up about it.

My mom on the other hand desires recognition. She likes the smaller sized congregations & does not particularly like our mega church for that exact reason. Especially Grace Chapel in TN.

I was picking up a neighbor’s kid & my mom was in the car w/us. My neighbor didn't make a point of saying hi to her in the car & I've never heard the end of it. In fact she still brings it up & has branded my neighbor as snooty ever since.

When my dad was alive he kissed her Bee-hind for over 40 years. So perhaps it's a pride thing in her case.

There are always plusses & minuses to every Church situation. As long as we're following the will of the Father we can't go wrong in any case. If the person's will is yielded to His then most likely they won't be a bump on the log in a mega-church & will become actively involved. It's hard not to when you've got the "fire" in your bones.

On the other hand-in a small Church a person could just feel more obligated to help out & could be doing it in the flesh rather than in the Spirit. I saw this in the small TN Baptist church. It seemed to be more socially driven than spiritually driven.

Anne said...

Vicky, I'm so sorry if you thought I was addressing your post!! I wasn't at all. I didn't take any offence at all in what you said and you have my most profound apology if I hurt you. And you did not sound like you were bragging. I should have thought about the effect my words would have.

FYI to all,I wasn't addressing anyone, or criticizing anyone's opinion, just giving mine. :-}

BTW- I really enjoyed the "social" aspect of the small TN Baptist Church & loved the people there. It was really great.

But what I really wanted to do is kick them in the rear. Get them motivated & on fire for the Lord.

That part was frustrating. I felt a little out of place in that regard. I rather have the fire of the larger than the deadness of the smaller. Even though I really do prefer getting to know people on a more individual basis w/o making much of an effort. Do any of you have both? A small congregation on fire? Not just going through the motions but driven by the Spirit?

I’m sure w/the mega size there are tons of people in limbo.(blending into the background.) It’s just that since there are more people- you can visibly see more people on fire because they are front and center leading others into a deeper relationship with the Lord & active in various ministries. The focus is less social and far more Spiritual in the two mega-sized churches I've been involved with.

Just got this from an Omega Letter member:

MARK YOUR CALENDAR NOW -

Please...take time on September 25th to PRAY. Long and hard and often! For our country, for our children and grandchildren, for our government – pray!

The government and the mainstream media don’t get it...but our GOD does! Islam is NOT a peaceful way of life.

Pass this along, please, to all your Christian friends. And be courteous – ERASE all email addresses in your forwarded message.

Washington, D.C. - Sept. 25, 2009 there will be a national prayer gathering of Muslims on the west front of the U.S. Capitol Building. They are expecting at least 50,000 to attend from mosques all across America. They will gather to pray from 4:00 AM until 7:00 PM, - FIFTEEN HOURS! The gathering will take place by the site where U.S. Presidents have been inaugurated since 1981. The organizers say Obama's inauguration speech in January and his speech broadcast from Egypt in June gave them the idea for this prayer gathering.

They have a web site set up for this event. The last words on the website are very interesting.

Just listened to a great sermon on Philippians 4:4,12 the other day. Lo & behold this is today's God's Daily Promise.
I hear Lord - thank you.

Have you experienced God's presence as you pray?

Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!… I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. Philippians 4:4,12 NLT

Arise, O God, and scatter your enemies. Let those who hate God run for their lives.
Drive them off like smoke blown by the wind. Melt them like wax in fire. Let the wicked perish in the presence of God.
But let the godly rejoice. Let them be glad in God's presence. Let them be filled with joy.
Sing praises to God and to his name! Sing loud praises to him who rides the clouds.
His name is the Lord—rejoice in his presence.
Psalm 68:1-4 NLT

Rejoicing in God's presence

Too often, we approach our prayer time with reluctance. It is almost as if we are saying, "Not again. I'm too busy to find time to talk to God." As this prayer in Psalm 68 indicates, David cultivated an attitude of joy when he approached God in prayer. He understood what a privilege it was to talk to the Almighty. God's enemies wouldn't even be able to stand in the Lord's presence. Though David was astonished by God's power, he was filled with joy because he was allowed to enter God's presence. He counted himself among the godly—those who reverence God and obey his laws.

When you enter God's presence in prayer, thank God for listening to you.

Now they've added crop circles! OK-I'll spare you all- mum is the word.

"Practicing the Presence of God" is the theme for the women’s Bible Study going on right now. It's actually taken from a really good book on how to live 24/7 in the Spirit & not in the flesh. (Haven't read that one yet-that should be my next pick.)

The lady who is the teacher in my group is an exceptionally warm sweet lady. Probably in her late 60's. Her passion in the past was being a Missionary. She's been all over the world. Now her energies are involved in leading women's ministry.

Another gal stood up and introduced her (Carol) as being similar in style to "the weeping prophet." When she was speaking I saw her eyes well up/voice crack & I almost lost it. I have a hard enough time chocking back emotion but when I see someone else expressing the same thing I can barely take it.

I think God has placed me here for a purpose I'm yet to find out. I don't know if this is ironic or if I'm just some mental case but I really don't cry.

When my mom spanked me as a kid I refused to cry-which made her even madder. (She used a long plastic shoehorn which left bruises even.) Then I grew up observing her cry all the time. She would shed tears I still believe to this day was used to manipulate my father. Not that she faked the crying in anyway because she still cries at the drop of a hat. But if my mom cried then the entire world would stop in my dad's eyes. All focus would go on mom & everyone else better back off.

I'll shed tears when something tragic happens. Either to myself or another. But other than that I'm pretty even keel unless it's God/Spiritually related like I've mentioned before.

So this should be a real interesting journey for me in this class. One of the ladies @ my table is from Columbia & is taking English classes. She married an American & moved here 2years ago.

So meeting her then inspired me to think of a lady who's from Spain to join me next week for the Bible Study. I keep running into her over the years. I'm getting the hint that this is not just a coincidence. (Our daughters currently are in the same preschool class.) She seemed pretty enthusiastic about the idea. I hope she'll come.

I previously invited my German friend Astrid to the study who attends an Episcopal Church. I really did not get a reply out of her. I'm going to see here again tomorrow & bring it once more. I keep praying for her & hoping she'll seek the Lord w/all her heart. But so far-no change. }:
She's really outgoing & friendly but when it comes to spritual matters it's almost a zero.

Posted today at the OL....

(IsraelNN.com) A new organization dedicated to fighting what it sees as an encroaching Islamic takeover of the U.S. is set to launch later this month with a gathering in Washington, D.C. - on the same day as a massive Muslim prayer rally in the U.S. capital.

The Stop Islamization of America (SIOA) group has declared its mission to be educating Americans "about the threat that Islamic doctrine and those who support it present to our freedoms, and the future of our democracy and country." The organizers call themselves "scholar warriors/ideological warriors in the cause of American freedom and Constitutional government," as well as in "the defense of... our society of liberty, knowledge, and human decency."

SIOA believes that political Islam is opposed to American values of "freedom, tolerance, or human rights." They seek to raise the issue of what they call "brutal, misogynist" Islamic law and jihad in America, because "tolerance for ideologies that are opposed to our principles of individual freedoms and our Constitution is indefensible," the group declares in its online manifesto. A recently-released film, The Third Jihad, warns that radical Islam is working on a non-violent, cultural takeover of the United States.

"We are now in a new phase of a 1,400-year-old jihad against the kafirs (all non-Muslims everywhere); we are not prepared to meet the threat," SIOA says. "[I]gnorance about Islam, its doctrine and purposes is a moral and ethical failure whose consequences can be nothing short of national extinction."

The official launch of the SIOA is slated for September 25, 2009, at an as-yet unknown venue in the U.S. capital. The timing and location appears to be far from coincidental.

A massive Muslim prayer gathering is planned for for the same day in front of the Capitol building. Spearheaded by the Elizabeth, New Jersey Dar-ul-Islam Mosque, organizers are expecting 50,000 people to attend the first-of-its-kind national event. The gathering will be limited to prayer, according to Hassen Abdullah, president of Dar-ul-Islam.

SIOA sees the event as a "big-budget... soft jihad," fought through "marketing and cultural/ideological warfare." D.L. Adams of SIOA wrote of the planned Muslim prayer gathering, "It is impossible to see this event as anything but what it is, taqiyya (sacred deception), jihad (endless universal war against the unbelievers), and dawa (conversion)."

The SIOA's own event is planned to conclude with a "saunter" around the streets of Washington DC, on the day of the Muslim prayer rally, in order to "engage in conversations with our fellow citizens who might happen to be there on the same day on matters of moment." However, more confrontationally, the SIOA website calls for "every protest of this takiya-jihad-dawa event... [to] include some component of donkey, dog, and women." The reason for this unusual suggestion is made clear on the SIOA site as well: Muslim doctrine, according to the SIOA, says that "Islamic prayer is nullified if a dog, a woman, or a donkey are present."

At the same time, the SIOA promotional literature for the organizational launch emphasizes, "We are an entirely non-violent organization. Our sauntering is planned to be more a polite conversational engagement rather than a demonstration." Organizers "look forward to a pleasant several hours chatting with our fellow Americans in the Capitol on the issue at hand."

Speakers at the SIOA launch are slated to include expatriate Egyptian activist Nonie Darwish, Islam scholar and author Robert Spencer, journalist Pamela Geller, and Christine Brim, Senior Vice President for Policy and Program Management at the Center for Security Policy.

(Strom sent this out today:)

ARE YOU AMONG THE 7000? (Wilkerson)

We know that all through the Bible, the number seven is equated with God’s eternal purpose. Therefore, I believe the number of 7000 that God quoted to Elijah in 1Kings 19:18 simply denoted everyone who made up his remnant. The people he sets aside for himself could number 70 or 7 million. What matters is that they are wholly given to him.

So, what are the characteristics of the remnant? Here are three defining marks:

1. An unchangeable commitment to cling to the Lord. Every remnant believer has made a single-minded choice to swim against the tide of evil. At some point, you have to make a commitment, declaring, “I don’t care what others say or do. I am the Lord’s. And I won’t give in to the wicked spirit of this age.”

2. A willingness to identify with the poor. While society’s trend is to associate with the rich and successful, you align yourself with the suffering class. Obadiah was a godly man serving in Jezebel’s house. He was determined to fear God and no one else and he proved that his heart was right and was with the poor by taking care of 100 ragged, suffering prophets (1 Kings 18:4).

3. A reliance on hope. The 7000 in Elijah’s time endured because of their hope in a coming day of deliverance. Likewise today, the church’s blessed hope is the soon return of Jesus. With one trumpet blast, all wickedness will end. Our Lord will do away with all killing of babies, all blatant perversions, all ethnic genocide.

Do these three marks characterize you as a part of God’s holy remnant? If so, God boasts of you, “This one has given his heart to me. He’s focused on me. And he is wholly mine!”

We are to evangelize, minister and work while it is still day. We are also to live in the hope that King Jesus is coming. And he’s bringing a new world with him, where he’ll rule from his eternal throne.

For the History Buffs-from " The Israel Project."

Rosh Hashanah

Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, will begin Friday evening (Sept. 18) and conclude at sunset Sunday (Sept. 20). [1] On this holiday Jews examine their deeds over the past year and pray to be inscribed in the “Book of Life” for the coming year. [2]

Symbolic customs and rituals are practiced on Rosh Hashanah. Jews attend synagogue services, during which the sound of the shofar, a ram’s horn, can be heard. Past sins are symbolically “cast away” by throwing bread or crumbs into bodies of water during the ritual of tashlich. Jews eat holiday meals together and dip apple slices into honey to usher in a sweet new year. [3]

Yom Kippur

Yom Kippur, the “Day of Atonement,” is the holiest day in the Jewish calendar and begins this year at sundown Sept. 27. On Yom Kippur Jews absolve last year’s sins and obtain forgiveness through spiritual cleansing by undergoing a 25-hour fast dedicated to prayer and self-examination. [4] Yom Kippur is a national holiday in Israel and many activities are suspended, including TV and radio broadcasts as well as public transportation. [5]

Yom Kippur this year comes four days after Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is scheduled to visit New York City and speak before the United Nations General Assembly, and two days before the scheduled Oct. 1 meeting with Iranian nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili, EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana and representatives from the six powers comprising the P5+1 – the United States, UK, Germany, France, Russia and China. [6] Ahmadinejad has called for Israel to be "wiped off the map," [7] said the Holocaust is a myth and declared that Jews should return to the countries from which they escaped during the Holocaust. [8]

This year also marks the 36th anniversary of the 1973 Yom Kippur War, when Egypt and Syria attacked Israel in a coordinated strike on Yom Kippur, exploiting the fact that many Israelis were in synagogue fasting and praying. [9]

The war launched by Egypt and Syria in 1973 saw initial gains for their armies, but within a matter of days the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) managed to push back the attack. [10] The United Nations called for a cease-fire when the tide turned against the Arab nations. On Oct. 22, 1973, the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 338 calling "upon all parties to the present fighting to cease all firing and terminate all military activity immediately." [11]

Following the war, Israel signed a series of Separation-of-Forces Agreements with Egypt and Syria and withdrew from parts of southern Sinai and the eastern Golan Heights. [12] In 1979, Israel and Egypt signed an historic peace treaty, the first between Israel and an Arab state. Israel, showing that it was willing to make painful sacrifices for peace, agreed to withdraw from the entire Sinai Peninsula to Egypt. In return, Egypt became the first Arab nation to recognize Israel. [13]

Israel has made numerous other sacrifices for peace, most recently in August 2005, when it evacuated all 9,000 Israeli civilians and military personnel in Gaza and parts of the West Bank. Israel then handed Gaza over to Palestinian control in hopes of paving the way for an independent Palestinian state. The only Israeli now in Gaza is Staff Sgt. Gilad Shalit, who was kidnapped while patrolling the Israeli side of the Gaza border on June 25, 2006 by Iran-backed Hamas, the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) and The Army of Islam. [14] Since his abduction, Hamas has denied Shalit access to visits by the Red Cross or any other aid group, in violation of the Geneva Convention. [15]
