I saw my friend today & she was so thrilled w/your responses. Here is the latest report:
I told Diamond the tree thing and she kinda got it. But then she went on to say but we have to water it and feed the trees. (my kid)
She then ask me how could God be Jesus and I explained the Trinity to her which was very hard. She kept saying so Jesus is like God's helper. I really didn;t like that because I feel like its taking away from who he is. She said is he half God and Half helper? I explaianed the best I could. I explained how Jesus is the perfect lamb of God and he came to buy us back because of our sin.
Then she said remember when Jesus's parents were looking for him and they couldn't find him he was somewhere else teaching and he was only like 10 or 12 years old. Isn't that like he sinned since he didn't tell his parent where he was. I told her NO he was and is the Perfect lamb of God he knew NO sin. Then I made her go to bed.
I also prayed for her because it's almost like she's trying to find fault. We also prayed together that God would reveal himself to her. She told me she really wants to know his voice (I tried to explain the silence of GOD but I dont think she understood).
I never thought I would have to defend the Gospel with my own child. That's what it feels like to me.
Let me know what your friends think about this and what I could do better All I know to do is PRAY....so i'll keep praying until she gets it....then I'll pray some more...Amen!!! Thanks so much the advice of your friends felt like a lifeline to me today I was sooooo desperate. GOD Bless you all!!!

Yes, trees have to be fed and watered. G_D created nature to do that; sometimes we help.
Regarding the Trinity: do some reading up on how St. Patrick converted Ireland. He used the three leaves of a shamrock to explain the Trinity (which is why the shamrock is one of the national symbols of Ireland.) If after this she feels that Jesus is G_D's helper, let her. She's six, fer cryin' out loud! There's a story about St. Augustine, back in the 400's. He was walking along the ocean shore meditating on the mystery of the Trinity, when he came across a young boy playing. The boy was scooping up water from ocean and pouring it into a hole he had made in the sand. St. Augustine watched him for a while, then asked the boy how long it would take for him to put the ocean in that hole. The boy replied, "I will finish that before you understand the Trinity."
RE: Jesus in the Temple (Catholics call that the Fifth Joyful Mystery: The Finding in the Temple): Jesus was 12 years old at the time. That was kind of an in-between age in Jewish culture at the time. For 12 years, the boy would be under the care of his mother. When the boy turned 13 and was Mitzvah'd, (Bar Mitzvah -- Son of a Good Deed) his main care would be by his father, who would start teaching him a trade, etc. When groups of families traveled to Jerusalem for the Feasts, they would travel separately: the men and boys over 13 in one group, and the women and children in the other. At age 12, Jesus could have traveled in either group. This lead to a situation where each parent thought He was with the other (not that THAT's happened to any of us, BTW!) when in fact He had stayed behind in the Temple. If either parent had told Him which group to stay in, then yes, Jesus could NOT have stayed behind in Jerusalem without it being a sin -- impossible for Jesus. However, Jesus was such a good boy that it never occurred to either Joseph or Mary to wonder where Jesus was: if He wasn't with one parent, He was with the other. So Jesus stayed behind at the Temple, and His absence wasn't discovered until the families re-assembled after traveling all day.
It doesn't surprise me that she would want to hear G_D's voice -- most people I know would LOVE that. Trying to explain the silence of G_D is good, but also consider: how do you know that at some point in her life, G_D WON'T speak to her? Ask her what she would say back to G_D if He DID speak to her. After she's thought about that for a day or two, read to her 1 Sam:3, where Samuel hears G_D calling to him and doesn't recognize G_D's voice the first two times. (In fact, I don't think he recognized it the third time either. It's just that Eli got tired of Samuel waking him up during the night.) Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD : The word of the LORD had not yet been revealed to him. Perhaps that sounds a little like Diamond?
(She might also have to read chapter 2 to her, to understand that Eli's sons weren't stealing from other people; by taking the meat that was supposed to be sacrificed they were stealing from G_D. G_D was angry with the sons for the stealing, and He was angry at Eli for not punishing them and making them stop.)

I used to ask my parents "what if" questions-not why is the sky blue but what if the sky was green or tables were called chairs etc.
I would pray and really not force the issue with the daughter and lean on God's timing and be prepared to use little things in life to teach God to her daughter. 2 examples from recent discussions with my 6 year old son.
Something I do with my son is when I read Bible stories to him I don't just read the story I give a real life application for our lives-God promised David he would be king but David had to wait a really long time and trust God under difficult circumstances just like we have to do sometimes.
He had been watching Fairly Odd parents and he wanted to know why he couldn't have fairy godparents which brought up the discussion-it's make believe and funny but in real life there aren't such things but if it weren't make believe I pointed out it wihle might be fun to have everything you want it doesn't usually work out well even in make believe. we talked a little about how sometimes it's a good thing not to have everything you want. I also told him that sometimes when we ask God for things we want He doesn't always give them to us but that is because He has something far more special for us that what we think we want.
Anyone here good at reading Greek? I'm trying to find the pronunciation of the word "epistellein" but haven't found a site that will spell it out phonetically. It's from the word 'epistle'....I'm guessing the last syllable sounds like "lean"???

Funny, I used to hear my late Mother speak Greek all the time and don't recall ever hearing any words pronounced with that ending, but it could have just been the way my Mother spoke, kinda like how those in the south don't necessarily pronounce words the way they should.

With all of the news these days and the speaches coming out of the U.N. and the crazy video showing U.S.school children singing a new song for Obama the following was quite fitting and the word "woe" just has been shouting out to me the last few days. Even certain family members of mine have been shunning me. Seems a larger line in the sand is being draw and I am happy to be rejected by my family because of my testimony of Jesus my Lord.
... Isaiah 5:20-21 "What sorrow for those who say evil is good and good is evil, that dark is light and light is dark, that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter. What sorrow for those who are wise in their own eyes and think themselves so clever."
I feel quite a burden in my spirit today and was lazy and took a nap when I should have been praying. Lord, please forgive me.
Remember that tomorrow they are expecting 50,000 Muslims praying to a false god in D.C. and probably more than that joining from their homes in prayer. Please, let us who love our Lord, fast and pray for those who are lost tomorrow. Those whose eyes have not been opened yet to the Lord's truth.

Lori, just finished watching that CNN video titled, "CNN reporter gassed at G20 summit". I admit, the title, although a bit inflammatory, is accurate -- he was standing in the street when some tear gas hit him. I noticed this happened just after a group of protesters started pushing a trash bin down the street as if they were going to use that to break through the police lines.
That's what you get for trying to be in the middle of the story.

Origin of Mardi Gras This was interesting. I think it was last year I did a little research on Marti Gras & how the secrete societies were involved in the event. This article comes from the point of view of actually evangelizing during Marti Gras.

Also, I didn't realize how closely Mardi Gras & Lent are tied together. A large % of the people who attend the Carnival are Catholic. (And I'm certain there are many from other demoninations who come to "flesh out" as well.)

So what's this all about? Well as many of you know for the past 21 years we have mobilized teams of Soul Winners to work the streets of New Orleans during the Mardi Gras. Over 1.5 million people fill the streets to "Flesh Out" before they have to "REPENT FOR LENT" and make things "right" with God on Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras is actually a religious festival and means "Farewell to the Flesh!"
To be honest, on Mardi Gras Day the "heathen" are tired of the Christians ruining "Their Party". While Mardi Gras Day (Fat Tuesday) is supposed to be a day of celebration and "Fleshing Out", it is also a day of mockery of Jesus and the Christians that have been sharing Jesus all week on the streets.
What's really bizarre is that the biggest display of mockery takes place in front of one of the oldest churches in America; the Saint Louis Cathedral, built in 1849.
We have preached on the steps of this Historic Church for over 20 years now on Mardi Gras Day. There have been many salvations, but at the same time intense opposition and mockery as well. In fact one year "someone" from the church came out and "Hosed Us Down" with a garden hose for preaching!
There is a dark area of the city adjacent to the French Quarter that is filled with old warehouses and small houses. "Some" of these houses are filled with people from the Occult, New Age, Homosexual lifestyle, and self proclaimed "Atheist". Out of this area a group has been formed called "BHFJ" or "Bong Hits For Jesus".
For the last several years they have come out to "Battle the Christians"! This year they actually made posters and placed them around the French Quarter announcing the "BHFJ Battle Against The Christians Mardi Gras Day 2-6 p.m.!"
The Poster was an incredible Mockery that had a picture of Jesus on the cross saying "Ho! Ho! Ho!" and the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, and Witches mocking Jesus on the cross saying "You're The Fake!"
So at 2:00 p.m. in front of one of the Oldest Churches in America, as we say in 'da hood "It's on!"
As we stood on the steps of the church with our crosses standing tall, we began to tell the crowd about Jesus! It really is amazing the people that listen to the message, receive the message, those that are prayed for, and those that receive the Jesus Tracts that we pass out in the midst of incredible mockery!
"BHJC" actually stands out there and preaches a perverted message to those that pass by as well. But that's not all! They mock the cross by exposing themselves, male and female in front of the cross, they spit on the cross, and this year they took the Bible, tore out pages and lit them on fire! They then threw the Bible on the ground, stepping on it, urinated on it, and poured beer on it! Then yelling to the top of their lungs they cursed Jesus! All I could think of was HEBREWS 10:29 "Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?"
I'll never forget this one black man in his late 20's that was standing there in the midst of this perversion. He wasn't with our teams, but he just stood there with TEARS running down his face at what they were doing to Jesus!
A man dressed in dark clothing, long hair, and full of devils stood before the cross mocking, shouting obscenities, and holding a sign mocking the Lord. It was then that God spoke to my heart to go and "talk" to this man.
He was vile, and violent, but I got close to him and leaned over and whispered in his ear, "Thank you for being here. God is really using you!" He laughed hideously and said "You're crazy man, we are making fools out of you! Bong Hits For Jesus!"
I then pressed in on him and said, "Nope! God is using you to draw attention to the cross and the message that we are preaching. And God is using you to draw this HUGE CROWD! Thank you for being here!"
He yelled "You're crazy man!" It was then that I said "You're right! Crazy about Jesus! You came to mock God, but in actuality you're promoting God! People are seeing what a fool the devil is and how GREAT God is! Look, our teams are praying for that man over there! In fact, the weapons that you made to fight us, God is going to use to bring you down if you don't repent!" (That's scripture!)
He ran away for a moment, and returned to rush the cross when a New Orleans Police Officer pulled up on a Scooter. "Demon Man" ran in front of the Scooter and as he did his Black Cape got caught in the front tire of the scooter and was drawing him toward the officer! The NOPD yelled, "Get out of my way" and "Demon Man" yelled "I am trying to get the '*%#" out of your way. The Police Officer then got off his scooter, handcuffed him, and threw him in the back of the waiting Squad Car!
I want you to know that we did not call the Police, but this "Demon Man" was trying to set a trap for us, and ended up being ensnared by his own trap! Rejoice! Nope … my heart broke for this guy … he needs Jesus! So when you pray, pray for "Demon Man" and for the lost souls of "BHFJ".
Is it worth it? Do you think any good came out of this "War?" Absolutely! Jesus rescued many people that day from the pit of hell in front of the Church … Imagine that
Lisa, I thought this story looked familiar. Are you ready for another weird story. Mel Rolls was my youth pastor when I first came to Florida. I was in his Daystar Band as a backup singer. We just recently had a 25th reunion with him.
He officiated our wedding, Oct 29th, 1983.

I had this forward/backward flash in my mind today @ the Rodeo of all places. Ok-I know- an active imagination!
At a Rodeo you've got the crowd mentality going. People drinking, cowgirls strutting, kids running around. The whole fleshy deal going on. So everyone cheers, hoots, & hollers at the ropers, barrel racers, bull riders, etc... in one accord.
Then I flash back to the Roman era with the Christians being used as morbid entertainment-then flash forward to the Tribulation period when the Saints are given into the hand of the Anti-Christ.
I'm thinking what it would feel like being in the middle of that arena with everyone cheering & watching Christians being killed with glee. Thinking they are doing God a favor.
I guess it was the opposite feeling of "Mega Church" worship. The energy there is spiritual in one accord but at the rodeo it was fleshy in one accord. Polar opposites.
What do you think? Am I becoming too spiritual-ized? I can't even go to the rodeo without feeling out of place.
I ended up thinking more about setting up a Christian Ministry booth in between the hat & mechanical bull stand.

The entire nation of Israel shuts down for the twenty-five hour fast as the Jews seek forgiveness from God for the last years transgressions, using the fast day in lieu of the Yom Kippur sacrifice at the temple since there is no temple in Jerusalem.
Jimmy's Prophetic Prospective on the News
Yom Kippur, the Jewish Holy Day of Atonement, looks back to Biblical times. It also has a prophetic significance, that is according to Bible prophecy.
As Jews in Jerusalem and around the world stop to observe the Jewish Holy day of Yom Kippur, they are reminded how the High Priest at the temple in Jerusalem would enter into the Holy of Holies with the sacrificial blood to pour it on the Mercy Seat of the Ark of the Covenant.
During the ten days leading up to Yom Kippur, starting on Rosh Hashana, Jews were to seek forgiveness from family, friends, loved ones and neighbors for any trespass over the last year.
This act of seeking forgiveness is a part of the Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur, as the Jews seek to be included in the Book of Life and during temple times their sins would be covered for one year, until the next Yom Kippur.
Now without the Temple, Jews give money, do good deeds and pray, along with the twenty-five hour fast on Yom Kippur. Jesus Christ, the Jewish Messiah, will in the future fulfill the prophetic aspect of Yom Kippur as He did the other Jewish Feast Days, in the spring, 2,000 years ago.
Jesus was crucified on Passover, buried on Unleavened Bread, and rose from the dead on the Feast of First Fruits. Jesus, in the future, will come back to earth on Rosh Hashana, and ten days later will enter the Holy of Holies on Yom Kippur, for the purpose of giving salvation to all Jews at that time, Zechariah 3:9 and Ezekiel 43:1-7. Indeed Bible prophecy will be fulfilled.

Too Funny JIm! I was making chocolate chip cookies. I found a website that shows how to make egg substitute for baking and I had to test it on something. It's not too bad, it sure beats not having any at all. It had been a few years since I had one... mmmm.

I have a baby pumpkin growing, I practically have to babysit it to keep the iguanas off.
These beasts get big and well meaning pet owners let the iguanas and snakes go when they outgrow their cages and get too expensive to feed. We have seen iguanas in my neighborhood 4 ft long. A few years ago we saw a 5 ft long monitor lizard. This is in the neighborhoods. I can't imagine what is out in the glades.
You are in your car driving home.. Thoughts wander to the game you want to see or meal you want to eat, when suddenly a sound unlike any you've ever heard fills the air. The sound is high above you. A trumpet? A choir? A choir of trumpets? You don't know, but you want to know.. So you pull over, get out of your car, and look up. As you do, you see you aren't the only curious one. When God opens the door for us to go north, we are gone! But it hasn't happened yet, so we will keep busy here.
I long for cool days and cold nights, brisk mountain air and leaves that turn the colors of a kaleidiscope during fall; The crunch of fallen leaves and their musky aroma drifting thru the air. Pumpkins piled high and Indian corn hanging from front doors; the moon hanging from the night sky like a giant dinner plate to big for the table.
I only have the plastic version here. We turn the AC to 65, put window cling fall leaves on the windows and spread fabric leaves around the tabletops. The fall turns me into an avid baker where I put out several loaves of bread and pies weekly. I would use more scented candles if it didn't torture my family so badly. "Where's the apple pie?" echoed the family when I boiled cinnamon, cloves and apple peel. If it smells good here, it had better taste good as well.

Wow. Almost no activity yesterday, and this morning I can barely keep up with the posts.
Jim G., it's called a skullcap or a zucchetto, and it actually used to have a very practical purpose. It used to be the tradition for priests to have a tonsure, meaning the top part of their heads would be shaved bald. You still see it in the medieval portraits of monks -- the bald spots are not male-pattern baldness. It was to serve as a sign of humility. In Greek and Roman times a tonsure was a mark of a slave, and so early monks adopted it as a sign of the servitude towards G_D. It gradually fell out of use for the regular diocesan priests, but some religious orders (particularly some branches of the Franciscans) still get tonsures, and it's still required for all seminarians at one stage of their process to ordination. (Nowadays, though, a seminarian's tonsure is usually just a small circle on the top of his head, and he's not required to keep it.)
Naturally, in the days before central heating, not having hair on your head was an issue in cold months. So, the practice developed of wearing skullcaps to cover the tonsure and keep the head warm. It grew to be a color-coded symbol of office, so that priests would wear black skullcaps, bishops purple, cardinals scarlet, and the pope would wear a white skullcap. Nowadays, only the bishops, cardinals, and the pope wear them, although you'll occasionally see older priests who have been given special honors wearing black skullcaps with purple or red piping.

Not sure what night of the iguana is, but it's probably creepy.
There is one thing I love about this area, okay, make that two. I met my hubby here, he's a "Florida Cracker." (native Floridian) The second thing is on the cooler mornings around 6am you can go outside and hear the peacocks and peahens calling to one another. I love the sound, although it is a block away. Those who live over there would dispute that, they think the birds are shrill.
Iguanas as a pest problem?-I would love to see that!
We hear the regular bird calls here in the morning. The mocking bird is a real squawker. Large birds of prey-red tail hawks, Vultures, and Ravens are common. Also quail & road runners off the beaten paths. At night you may see a barn owl flying overhead.
Then every dust the bats come out to fly around & the coyote howls start up. They are very loud and make a terrible yapping sound.
The garden menace are gophers, rabbits, and birds who eat ripe fruit. But-no iguanas. Bummer. Rattlesnakes are seen on occasion along w/gopher snakes. And black widow spiders? They’re a dime a dozen.
We've got the spiders too! We have some referred to as banana spiders, we also have wolf spiders that are mistaken for tarantulas. Oh, did I mention the scorpions? Yeah, Florida is a real trip, camping can be a lot more fun!
Iguanas wreck your landscaping. They carry diseases and have razor sharp nails.
Sometimes I think some of these creatures are from the pit of ... ahem!
but, are those iguanas tasty?

So all together Jesus would have said "Lightening from the Heights (of the Heaven)"

Nate, I hear ya. Its getting so wild that its hard to get a grip of it all. I ponder about a lot of things lately. H1N1 shots-if they will be forced on us and I see whats happening in NY. Health care and the outcome there. What will happen with small businesses? The ME with Iran and Israel. The uncovering of the new extensive secretive nuclear facility that Iran has been working on. I wonder about it all and how things will unfold. The financial mess the world is in and how things are portrayed as getting better. Oh it just gets better from here, at least for all of us that are waiting for His return. I am also saddened for the souls of those who will be left behind and at the present, just can't see the truth of how current events are bibblicaly based.

Speaking of 10-10-2009, here's a very interesting theory for the start of the Tribulation on that day.
Lori, "Night of the Iguana" is an award-winning play by Tennessee Williams, that became an award-winning film directed by John Huston. IMDB has this as the plot: A defrocked Episcopal clergyman leads a bus-load of middle-aged Baptist women on a tour of the Mexican coast and comes to terms with the failure haunting his life. The iguana in question is the large iguana that is tied to a rope for the viewing pleasure of the hotel guests. Like the iguana, the night comes when the clergyman finds himself at the end of his rope.

Lisa, I'll be keeping an eye out for Washington, DC on Oct. 10. Two things that struck me: just last night, Discovery channel had a 2-hour thing on DHS plans for what to do if Washington gets nuked. AND, in the Roman Catholic Lectionary, the reading for that day is Joel 4:12-21. Something about bringing nations "to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; For there will I sit in judgment;" wine vats full of malice, "Sun and moon are darkened, and the stars withhold their brightness;" that sort of stuff. Probably doesn't mean anything.

I hope I don't sound like I'm "preaching", but out of personal convicition and seeing how Satan (and probably my own selfishness) is distracting me, I want to share my thoughts.
In the last week I have heard of two different people having dreams that have made them to set up safe havens and warn others to do likewise.
I also heard about a financial analyst who is afraid of financial collapse who is warning people to become "survivalists". (No dreams, just facts.)
Recently I heard of another man who has been deceiving people for years with dreams that he recently admitted were not from God. Precious years wasted.
Peoples hearts are "failing them for fear" -- seeing things happening and not knowing what to do.
I think we all need to take a nice long breath, sit back, and think calmly about all this.
Is all this fear talk taking away from our time with Jesus? Are we spending more time on the Internet tracking these things down than we are witnessing to our neighbors and family--those who don't know the Lord?
In other words, are developments in the world bringing us to our knees?
I firmly believe that the danger in the last days has more to do with a spiritual battle than a literal one. Satan is fighting for our minds and hearts.
We know God will take care of us should terrible things happen, but what are those who don't have faith going to do?
I think each of us needs to trust in God more, spend more time with Him, and then--with our armor on--go out and tell the world that He is coming soon and we need to get ready.
Our foe Satan knows what the Bible says and he is out to distract us and keep us from focusing on what is really important. If he can keep us from putting sin out of our lives, from spending time in the Bible and prayer, etc., he will be successful in deceiving us.
Our hearts need to be full of God's love more than worry about stockpiling food for ourselves. Our minds need to be filled with the Word of God more than with fear. Our hands need to be reaching out to those around us.
Jesus IS coming SOON. Will He find faith upon the earth?

I had just read your post and wasn't planning to share anything, but then I read the following during my Bible reading this morning and it might be worth a mention....
Matt. 10:5-10
Jesus is sending out the 12 with instructions....
"Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. 6Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. 7As you go, preach this message: 'The kingdom of heaven is near.' 8Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy,[b]drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. 9Do not take along any gold or silver or copper in your belts; 10take no bag for the journey, or extra tunic, or sandals or a staff; for the worker is worth his keep.
The last line got me thinking since it relates to the discussion about preparation. So I googled the phrase "worker is worth his keep" and found some interesting perspectives on that, too. (One good blog entry was at http://annaldavis.wordpress.com/2009/09/01/thou-shalt-prepare-part-2/ )
As I pondered this instruction from Jesus, I got to thinking about other incidents in Scripture when someone is told to prepare. There are tons! Noah and Joseph being the classic ones.
But is it solely for themselves or for others who will come along and need the supplies that God has been urging them to set aside? Jesus basically told the disciples to trust their needs to others. I imagine those who cared for the 12 had been moved by the Spirit in advance to prepare as well so that when the disciples arrived, the provisions were already there and it wasn't a hardship to meet their needs.
For me personally, when I think of trying to prepare our home for whatever crisis might strike, it's overwhelming and causes great anxiety....hallmarks, I might add, that the instruction isn't from God! But when I frame my preparation in terms of having supplies for others who may come for help, it's a compassion-based effort and I'm kinda excited at the thought of being ready to meet those needs and be part of God's plan for reaching others who aren't walking with Him in faith.
The question, of course, is then....am I ready to empty my supplies to others and trust that God will still provide for my own family? My heart gives a resounding 'yes'! But my head wants me to backtrack into doubt and still prepare as if I were in charge of providing for us.
Just a few cents on a subject that many of us are mulling over these days :-)

(An outpouring of the Holy Spirit would also do it-So keep praying for that too!)
As you know I used to go door to door as a JW & pretty much hated every minute of it. But you know-it takes some guts to do that. Walk up & speak w/people you don't know & realize they'll probably either pretend they are not home or close the door in your face.
But-people's hearts do soften when disaster strikes. Would we then be willing to go out among the people in the streets & tell them about God's Kingdom coming to earth?
Does the urgency of disaster outweigh our fears & insecurities?
I don't know. What is it like for Christians in areas where disaster strikes? In the U.S. we had 911 but I was not there to see how it goes as a Christian. It seems like
the urgency wore off fairly quickly.

Michagander, I feel the heaviness, burden and conviction of what you are saying. I have found that in my own life at times (and I'm going through a bit of one now) of being a bit dry, unable to open my mouth and pray at times, and finding no time for God or His word. I do all these things but not like I should.(i could use prayer) This is definitely a time not to waver, but to stand firm on the Rock. I also know that God hears us when we just talk to Him with these kind of feelings of dryness, burdens of the lost, and time commitments towards worship and praise in our own little ways to Him. He hears us in our weaknesses and burdens even when our prayers are speechless toward Him and are only groans so deep inside for lost souls, a desire for a deeper walk with Him and unfulfilled longing to be with Him and be out of this mad world. A longing we all know will be fulfilled soon, and in the mean time, we all need, and especially me, to just open up my mouths more and more and pray like never before!

Does anyone know about Pastor Melissa Scott? A close relative of D.H. told him to look her up.
Now I'm wondering what the angle is on this. He's not a Christian-has pretty much said he's not interested in it & believes in the "good people" scenario.
So perhaps it's because he thinks Pastor Scott is "Hot". She's certainly pretty & appears to be quite intelligent. A linguist & has the command of 20 languages?
I'm wondering more about what exactly she teaches myself. Personally, I'm uneasy with the aspect of women Pastors for the simple fact that it's not in the natural order that God set up in the Bible.

Jen, I agree with what you are saying! I guess the point I was trying to get across is that more than people's physical needs being met, they need the Water and Bread of Life...because spiritual death
is worse than physical death.
At least we have Someone to lean on. I just think of all the people in the world who know something is happening, but don't have God. It is up to us to spread the everlasting gospel! (Matt. 24:14 and Rev. 14:6)
I believe in holy, heavenly angels, but the word "angel" means "messenger". We can be God's "angels" in that sense--and help spread His good news!

Lisa, I watched Melissa Scott once on TV as she taught and got a weird vibe from her. VERY different. I would say beware. There are much better things to spend our time on.
When I lived in CA in the 1970's, I would sometimes catch her husband, Gene Scott, on TV. He was on all the time.
He would sit in one of those large chairs made out of the roots of a tree with a lambskin over the seat, if I recall right. He would put one of those wind-up monkeys on a table and say terrible things about those people who disagreed with him.
It was kind of entertaining in a strange way. Would turn him off after 5-10 minutes usually. What a character!

Well, either I have a spiritual short circuit or the Holy Spirit impressed upon me right after I posted her link- "She's a Jezebel".
Now when I heard that- I'm of course questioning myself-was that just the Spirit? Or is that my own mind going wacko?
I know absolutely nothing about her or her father so I'm not going to jump to conclusions based on that-But- Now I'm REALLY curious to find out what she's up to.
Is she truly a wolf in sheep's clothing (Jezebel) or is she an anointed servant of God? First glance her belief statement looked ok & Biblical.
Or even- is this some back door attempt to get my D.H off track by his unrighteous relative?
If Satan can't get to you one way then he's going try another. I know my D.H. is extremely impressed by people's
"Credentials" & bases his respect and whether he should listen to them on these types of things.
He still has a hold on the evolution theory because people w/high acedemic "credentials" say it's true.
Another Earthquake in Peru:
JULIACA, PERU (BNO NEWS) – A strong earthquake struck southeastern Peru on Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
The earthquake, which struck about 48 miles from Juliaca, Peru, had a preliminary magnitude of 5.9, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). It was initially reported as a 6.3 magnitude earthquake. It struck about 160 miles deep, making it a deep earthquake. Shallow earthquakes often tend to cause more damage.
There was no immediate report of damage or casualties following the tremor, but a spokesman for the USGS said he would not expect any significant damage as the epicenter was located very deep.
The quake follows a series of powerful earthquakes in just 24 hours. On Tuesday, a powerful 8.0 magnitude earthquake struck near Samoa, creating deadly tidal waves that devastated Samoa and American Samoa.
On Wednesday, a 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia, leaving possibly up to 1,000 people killed.

All I remember is that after listening to her for 15 minutes, I didn't understand a word she said. So she probably tries to appeal to those of a "higher" intellect!

I was so depressed last night thinking about the economy, the war(s),jobs, health care, Social Security, retirement funds, swine flu, etc., that I called a suicide prevention hotline.
Reached a call center in Pakistan. I told them I was thinking of committing suicide.
They all got excited and asked if I could drive a truck.

How many of the rest of you are losing interest in favorite things you once did in favor of reading and learning all you can about Christ? I had this conversation with a friend the other night-he's just not that interested in commercial farming anymore or being on any of the boards-goes to the farm as little as possible. He is far more interested in reading his Bible and reading books about faith, culture, worldview etc. i told him that I knew what he meant-far more interested in reading about prophecy, worldview faith etc myself that reading about medicine.
I'll take the iguanas over the gila monsters and rattlesnakes and scorpions

Great to hear from you again!! I totally agree. The spiritual battles that were hidden are now very visible, and, yet, so many in the Church seem so asleep. (10 virgins and the oil story maybe?)
But be encouraged my dear friends, I think we all see the finish line ahead and just need to last effort to hear "well done my good and faithful servant". My kids are finally old enough to memorize verses with Jenny and I and today we did Psalm 27:14

I looked up that link on Pastor Mellisa Scott & had no idea what a ride I was in for! So she used to be a Porn Star-then marries Paul Crouch who divorces his wife for her who's at least 40yrs her senior. He dies & she's left w/the estate. She takes over the reigns of his following & has associated w/some well known false teachers/self proclaimed prophets.
OK,So far I can't find any "false teaching" coming from her lips though. You always want to believe the best of people proclaiming to be agents of Christ. So maybe she was born again? Right? There are many Christians coming to her defense.
I'm not finished w/researching but when I came to this Jesus Christ is Lord site & read the comment under "Are you Kidding Me"-----O MY GOSH. There she is exposed as a "Jezebel." (Not that she had not already acted like one before when she married Mr. "holy man" Paul Crouch in the 1st place.)

So tonight D.H. comes home talking about this great guy he's working with who's a Christian too.
He thinks that he as a "gay" Christian though. The guy mentioned to D.H. that he's the most conservative guy in his entire liberal congregation. (Which is located in a gay area of S.D.)

The earthquake, which had a preliminary magnitude of 7.0, struck at 8.52 a.m. local time, according to the country's seismological agency. It's epicenter was located about 6 to 15 miles deep, according to preliminary readings, making it an extremely shallow earthquake.
Shallow earthquakes often tend to cause more severe damage.

Out of curiosity I looked up what I could find about "Pastor Melissa Scott" about a year ago or so after seeing her on TV. I remember seeing Gene Scott many years ago on TV. He definitely had some messed up theological views.
Just found some additional info. Looks like a good blog site. It's called "The Writing on the Wall" and has a Christian take on the news and current events. Not to be confused of course with Lori's "Off the Wall News" site.
