What would we expect of someone who feeds only on fast food and unhealthy snacks filled with sugar and fats? A healthy body? Long life? No, we would expect physical health to be largely the product of physical intake. Is it any different in the spirit?
Modern culture is saturated with unhealthy spiritual food—from the lusts of the flesh and the eyes, to the human pride of the self-life, to elaborate and deceptive worldviews and philosophies. Hundreds of television channels, dozens of newspapers and magazines, unlimited cyberspace images, and a number of other media compete for our attention. We let many of them actually win our attention. And much of what we feed on is unhealthy. In our pursuit of wisdom, our minds often hunger for genuine nutrition.
"You are what you eat" applies not only in the physical world, but also in the spiritual. There's no way to take in junk without becoming junky.
God calls us to watch our diets. It pleases Him when we care for His temple, our bodies. But it pleases HIm much more when we care for our minds. Our thought life is where His Spirit most prefers to work, shaping uncluttered hearts and imparting wisdom to uncluttered minds. Even so, we do not make a smooth highway for Him into our souls. Through our entertainment, we let ourselves be bombarded by an incessant PR campaign for the ways of the world. Find a balance. Watch what goes into your mind. Without hindrance, let His thoughts nourish you.

I also appreciate the comments you lead with for a multitude of reasons. I will be using it for our devotional for our upcoming deacons meeting. I hadn't realized until I had a child and had to start looking at our culture a little more critically just how much junk there is out there in our culture. Having a child was a HUGE eye opener for me and I am much more careful about what I read and watch than I used to be.

This may be twisted thinking but I could see him on top of that mosque reveling in what one would feel in his position addressing a sea of Muslims as he attempts to pander to their concerns.
Come to think of it- If we could see into the spirit realm I wonder what other entities are also situated upon that "holy" Mosque.
Now my imagination is really running wild-better stop here.
Personally, I'm not sure but I could see him accepting that invitation if he thinks there would be something to gain from it.
It doesn't seem like he generally concerns himself with other people's opinions if they clash w/his own views.

Lisa, Shalom! I think Obama will definitely accept. I also believe that there are "other" forces and influences around that mosque. I found it interesting that a few hours after the invitation was made, a car bomb went off in the Zeitoun district of Cairo. This is the Coptic Christian section of Cairo, and the bomb went off near one of the oldest and most revered churches in the district.

Imagine plants could speak, as if in a J.R.R. Tolkien or C.S. Lewis story. Then, as we pruned them in the spring, they would cry out in pain, begging for mercy. After all, the annual snipping, cutting and trimming seems a painful and cruel punishment for them.

He's traveling to a part of the world to meet the head of state of a country where most of the people don't like the Christians; many of the people in that country haven't forgiven him for something he said two years ago that was taken out of context and don't WANT to forgive him; where the people he is supposed to be leading to a closer relationship with G_D are being murdered, robbed, raped, and driven out of their homes by their neighbors. It would be nice if he could slow that process down.
He's also traveling to a place where his faith is tolerated, because it brings in tourist dollars, but not tolerated well because the government taxes the properties owned by his faith at a higher rate than other properties, and he objects to that. He's criticized constantly by the citizens of that country because he's German and was alive during WW2, so ipso facto, he's anti-Semitic. This is proved by two things: one is that at the age of 14, he did not risk the lives of his mother, father, sisters, and brothers (as well as his own life) by refusing to join the Hitler Youth when compelled by law to do so. Second is that even though monasteries, convents, abbeys, and churches throughout Europe hid Jews (always at great personal risk) and the Vatican aided efforts by doing things like forging baptismal certificates, enabling children to escape, many people in this country blame the Catholic Church for not doing enough to save the Jews. (They never seem to complain that the Lutherans or the Calvinists didn't do enough, but that's another rant.)
He knows his faith tells him that the Jews are G_D's Chosen People, and that G_D blesses those who bless Israel. He knows that the Israelis don't particularly care if a Palestinian is a Christian; a Palestinian is a potential terrorist and potential enemy of Israel. He knows that if he throws the force of the Church behind a declaration that Israel Belongs To The Jews, that a couple of things will happen: One is the very real possibility that the Palestinian Christians living in Israel will experience true hardship from both the Israelis and the Arabs living in Israel. Another is those 2,500 Christians in Gaza will become 0 Christians within a week, since that will be all the proof Hamas needs that the Christians are spies, traitors, and enemies of Arab People and must be hunted down and slaughtered. In addition, Christians (even non-Catholic ones) in half the world from Europe through Russia, India, Asia, to Malaysia and the Philippines will be targets for persecution and slaughter as spies, traitors, and enemies for supporting Israel.
So what does he do? He chooses hope. If he speaks in favor of a two-state solution, then there is hope that the people who are so angry will give up anger; that G_D will touch these people and convert them. If he speaks in favor of Israel alone, then all hope is gone: the anger will be released, and like toothpaste or that nasty thing you said to your husband, it can't be reversed. Where there is life, there is hope; and where there is time there is hope that G_D will perform a miracle.
Like I said, dancing on eggshells.

"The reason I am writing this is to remind you the battle you are facing is not yours, but God’s. If you are a child of his, you can be certain that Satan will “rage against you.”
In 2 Chronicles 20, a great multitude came against God’s people. King Jehoshaphat and his people set their hearts to seek the Lord and to fast. The king cried out to God a prayer that most of us have prayed at times in our spiritual journey: “We have no might against these that come against us, neither do we know what to do; >>>my words - 'I just don't know what to do'<<< but our eyes are upon you” (20:12). “The Spirit of God came in the midst of the congregation…saying, Be not afraid nor dismayed…for the battle is not yours, but God’s (20:14-15).
Isaiah gave this warning to all satanic forces: “Who have you reproached and blasphemed? And against whom have you exalted your voice?... Even against the Holy One of Israel” (Isaiah 37:23).
God told his people Israel, and he tells us today: “The battle is not against you. It is Satan’s rage against me, the Lord who abides in you.” God said to Satan, “I know where you abide, and where you come and go, and your rage against me” (37:28).
I ask you: where is your battle? In your marriage? Your business or job? Your finances? Your health? Does your battle get more intense day after day? If you have a heart for Jesus and a desire to cleave to him, you will face the rage of hell. But that is still not your battle.
You can end your battle quickly if you choose – simply by quitting and giving in to your fears and doubts. Satan will not bother those who give up their confidence in the Lord.
Yes, the battle is the Lord’s, but we have a part – and that is to trust and believe his promises in the face of hopelessness and what seem to be impossibilities. “Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the Lord, and my judgment is passed over from my God?” (Isaiah 40:27).
Faith demands that I turn over all my problems – all my critical situations, all my fears, all my anxieties – into the hand of the Lord. When I have done all I can do, and I know my battle is beyond my power, I must submit all into his hands.
Our Lord knows the raging of Satan, and we must truly believe he will act. He will bring us through floods and fires and put to chase all spiritual enemies. Here is God’s Word concerning what he will do: “Because of your rage against me…it has come into my ears, therefore I will put a hook in your nose, and my bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back by the way you came” (Isaiah 37:29).
If you will hold fast to your faith – trusting him, resting in his promises, rejecting all lies of Satan coming into your mind – then expect God to come by his Spirit into your situation and bring an expected end to your particular battle. He will move heaven and earth to deliver you and make a way. The way out is to trust, trust, trust! “He makes wars to cease” (Psalm 46:9)."

I know we won't know until we know, but here are some interesting facts I found about King Abdullah of Jordan. I posted it on Marzullis page too.
I have been looking up King Abdullah and his history. I found some information at Wikipedia about his ancestory, which we know isn’t totally reliable, but seems to agree with Abdullah’s web page.
I found some interesting facts. As mentioned before he is a Hashemite. The Jewish people use the name Hashem for the “Name” i.e., Y-H-V-H, a euphanism for G-d. Hashemite comes from the Arabic clan house of Hashim. The spelling changes when the name is singular. It is also interesting to note that they are suppose to be directly descended from Muhammad’s daughter Fatima. This is really interesting since one of the first UFO sightings were in Fatima Portugal. It appears there is a coat of arms for the royal family on the Wilkipedia page. I could be wrong, but it appears there is a phoenix on the page. The antichrist is suppose to die with a deadly wound to the head and then rise again. The phoenix represents the ability to die and then to live again. This made chills on me when I read it. It is also interesting that this bird builds itself a nest out of MYRRH twigs! It can regenerate when hurt or wounded by a foe! (Maybe an assasination attempt) It is immortal and invincible. (in Revelations 13:4 the question is asked, “who is able to make war with him?”)It is also said that the phoenix could heal a person with a tear from his eye. Revelations 13:13 says,”and he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men.” The phoenix is also a symbol of fire and divinity.
Lastly, the Hashemites are largely located in Jordan and Iraq! OK. That is just a lot of coincidences!

Interesting, Christine and ties in to this...
I just watched Mac's link of Bill Salus and I hope some of you watch it. I think we've talked about this before, but I'm perplexed! Salus says that Ps 83 is fulfilled by Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and I think Iraq (or at least part of Iraq) attack Israel and of course are unsuccessful. Israel then controls these countries and then, at some point, comes the Gog/Magog war.
Anyone have an idea of how this could all come about? Jim C?
I did think it interesting that just yesterday it was reported that Abdullah said: Failure to reach agreement at this critical juncture would draw the world into a new Middle East war next year. “If we delay our peace negotiations, then there is going to be another conflict between Arabs or Muslims and Israel in the next 12-18 months,” the King said. timesonline.co.uk
Anne, Psalm 83:7-9 lists the nations that will join together to attack Israel:
The tents of Ishmael and Edom, the people of Moab and Hagar, Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek, Philistia and the inhabitants of Tyre. Assyria, too, in league with them gives aid to the descendants of Lot.
Ishmael is a generic term, indicating nations and tribes not explicitly listed. Most of the nations in this list are descended from Ishmael (Arab) through the line of Lot. Edom, Moab, and Ammon together make up Jordan; Amalek is Syria, Philistia is the Gaza strip, and Tyre is Lebanon. Assyria, depending on the writer, is either any nation north of Israel, or it's the region of the eastern parts of Turkey, the northern part of Iraq, and the northern part (including Tehran) of Iran. The Kurds are the modern descendants of the Assyrians, but I don't believe they have anything to do with this. Instead, it will be Tehran (who control H'ez'B'allah and -- to a lesser extent -- Hamas) providing "aid to the descendants of Lot."
"Hagar" is the wild card, since there's no generally accepted agreement as to where they were located. For symmetry's sake, I subscribe to the belief that the Hagarites were located around the Gulf of Aqaba in the northeast part of the Arabian peninsula or the southeast part of the Sinai. This would make the Saudis a part of this operation.
My guess is that Israel will attack the locations where Iran is building their bomb. Hamas and H'ez'B'allah will take this as their cue to launch new attacks on Israel. The attacks will come from Gaza, the Negev, the Lebanon boarder, Syria, and the Palestinian Authority. Something in me is saying that the war would last about 3 weeks -- don't know why -- and in the end Israel will have retaken control of Gaza, Golan, and both the West Bank and maybe 10-20 kilometers of formerly Jordanian territory. This time, there won't be any "armistice" or "cessation of hostilities." During the Yom Kippur war of 1973 Israeli tanks were only 5 miles from Damascus when the order to pull back came, due to pressure by the Americans. If Obama continues to alienate the leadership in Jerusalem, then they're not going to feel so compelled to listen to Obama.
No, this time there will be surrender. This time there will be Instruments of Surrender signed by the Heads of State or their representatives. They will surrender to Israel because if they don't, Israel will take over their piddly little country and hang the leaders as war criminals for starting a war of aggression. This time there will be a dissolution of the country's armies and the transfer of territory. This time there will be no wishy-washy "well it really belongs to Jordan" nonsense: both Jordan and the PA will have launched a war of aggression against Israel. It is an international law that when country A launches a war of aggression against country B and country A loses, country B gets to keep territory captured from country A. If country A doesn't lose any territory, how else will they be punished for launching a war of aggression?
Because of this, Israel will also regain control of Gaza and the West Bank (the PA launched a war of aggression -- bingo, no more PA). The Jordanian territory will be partly as punishment, partly as scriptural fulfillment (the valley in Ezekiel 39 where they bury the dead is just a few kilometers inside of present-day Jordan), and partly as a buffer zone -- 20km is enough to keep the majority of rockets from hitting Israel. I also think/ hope/ pray that part of the surrender agreement will be the declaration that Jordan is now the international representative and homeland of the Palestinian people. From now on when a Palestinian gets violent, Israel will get to deport said Palestinian into Jordan. They will become Jordan's problem, and the Palestinians may be too busy trying to overthrow the Hashemite monarchy to bother about Israel for a while. And Israel will live in peace and security.
Naturally, this Israeli victory will enrage the Arab world as well as humiliating Tehran (Persia). Russia, Iran, and Syria have mutual defense treaties, but the Israeli victory came so quickly Damascus didn't think to activate it. (Besides, I don't think it covers starting a war then calling on the other two countries to pull your b*tt out of the pit when your war goes south.) The Syrian defeat will cause Teheran to pressure Russia for help. If the surrender to Israel includes provisions for "no foriegn armies to be stationed there", then Russia will have lost its nice new navy ports it was building in Syria, so it won't take too much convincing for Russia to help plan for a wonderful new war, getting everyone together to stomp on Israel once and for all.
(I think the hook in the jaw of Gog -- if Gog is Russia -- will be simple Russian pride. Every time Russia tries to get some influence in the area, Israel steps in and blocks their move. If Israel forces Syria to break its contract with Russia for the Russian Naval bases, that might be the last straw. Russia is big. Israel is small. Small countries do not tell big countries what to do. It is time for little country to go away now.)

I wonder if this is also when Is 17 is fulfilled?
I can see from your scenario why Iran doesn't take part in the attack(here I've been waiting for them to make the next move). But, I thought the other Arab countries were secretly hoping Israel would take out those nukes/nuke making plants. But, maybe the radicals in those countries will overwhelm the monarchies and governments and take control to then attack Israel.
This is fascinating. I have heard of Bill Salus many times but never paid attention to what he said. There are so many possibilities and theories, I wonder with awe for our LORD, but also sadness for those who will be lost.

I guess we are somewhat like the Jewish people before Messiah's first appearance. It was hard to look at the scriptures and know exactly how G-d was going to do it. Afterwards, we can look at scriptures and say, "oh! that's what that meant!" We are looking at the coming of the Lord from this side of scripture. It is hard to look at it and say exactly how and when it will happen. Fortunately, we know the Holy Spirit dwells with us and He will let us know when the time is right. We also know from the Word, that it will absolutely come true!
Afterward, I am sure we will be saying, "oh! That's how He was going to do it!"

Anne, Shalom! I don't see Isaiah 17 as occurring during this scenario. I think it's going to take 12 to 18 months for Iran to re-arm its operatives in Gaza and Lebanon and to finish moving weapons into the PA. (Ergo King Abdullah's warning about a war in 12 to 18 months.) If things wait this long, then it could be that Israel doesn't launch an attack on the nuclear sites. Doing so might negate Israel's claim to be fighting a defensive war, since any flights to Iran would involve flying over non-friendly countries. When they took out the Syrian reactor last year, it was an attack on Syria and they didn't have to worry about any other country. Turkey was convinced for some time that the Israeli jets had overflown part of its territory, but that wasn't the case.
If Israel attacks Iran, they're going to have to overfly Turkey and/or Iraq and Syria. It's a safe bet that none of those countries would grant Israeli warplane overflight permissions to attack Iran. Flying an armed jet over another nation's territory is an unfriendly act and can be seen as an invasion, i.e., an attack that justifies retaliation. If Obama would get Iraq to grant overflight permissions, then they could fly over Syria, which would not be a problem; but I honestly don't see Obama as doing that.
Permission or not, if Iran successfully tests a nuclear device, it will be proof they've got four or five waiting in the wings. At that point, permission be d*mned, Israel (and probably any number of other nations in the region) would attack Iran to stop them from deploying the bombs. So the first thing that Iran will do when it has these things ready and waiting is to provoke Israel into an attack. This would tie up men and materiel, as well as direct attention away from Iran. "Oh, look at evil Israel, attacking those helpless soldiers who are hiding behind the pregnant mothers!" This would also tie up those nations that might align themselves with Israel in an attempt to stop Iran from becoming a nuclear power. As the Arab armies are approaching Tel Aviv, Iran can step in with some nuclear bombs to clean everything up, and the Jewish Question is solved forever.
What Ahmadinejad would not count on would be the stunning and complete victory of Israel over her attackers, including the signing of treaties. While he might not have any problems with dying himself, it's a safe bet that, after winning such a great victory, Israel would have no problems with dropping a couple of bombs on Iran if need be. There would be not only a bomb on Tehran but also on that well in Qom where the Hidden Inman is supposed to reappear. He can't reappear there if the well is a molten slag of glass, now, can he?
So Ahmadinejad would pull back and start strengthening his ties with both Russia and what remains of the ruling group in Damascus. I think that after another 6 months or so, Ahmadinejad would use one of his bombs on Damascus and blame it on Israel. This would be used as the reason for one final push to eliminate Israel.

I did want to comment on the Messianic material. Please don't judge all of them by a few groups. I have met several groups that I am leary of. They don't teach being born again, and they are all about the law. They also want to say that if you don't speak the Hebraic names of Y'shua/Jesus and YHVH/God you aren't going to make it in. This isn't even suppose to happen until Y'shua/Jesus sets His throne up upon the earth. Zephaniah 3:9 says He will turn the people back to a pure language and they will use the same name to call upon the Name of the Lord. To say a person is going to die and go to hell because they don't know Hebrew is ridiculous. G-d will do the work, in His time. You can obey G-d all you want but, if you are not born again, you still won't make it in. I have found a group of people that I worship with on Friday Shabbat. We have a wonderful time in the Lord! We learn all we can, and the Spirit of the Lord really moves! It is absolutely wonderful! It is ok to learn the things of G-d, but we have to keep it balanced. I do believe that G-ds laws will be the law of the land in the millenium. Learning them now is a privilege. It is like being in love with this wonderful person and learning all you can about Him. You want to learn what He likes and what pleases Him. Doing what we can of these things now is a dress rehearsal for the wedding to come! It does not, however, save you! If it's not under the Blood of Y'shua/Jesus, it won't even matter! It's not by our works that we make it, but by His. Even the Hebrew children had to have the blood applied to the doorposts before they went out and received the law! Ephesians 2:9 and it is only by Y'shua/Jesus that we even have a chance to make it in!Acts 4:12. Learning the Hebraic roots of Christianity has been a wonderful walk for me, but I am very leary of anyone who tries to make it salvation.

I have a Complete Jewish Bible. I compared it to what yours said in the Peshitta. That is quite a difference! Since it is Old Testament, I have a Rabbi friend I can ask if they know what it is suppose to say and see what he says it is. I looked it up and Peshitta is suppose to be translated from Aramaic! That is so cool! I understand that Y'shua/Jesus may have actually hung out with the Macabees. They are, of course, responsible for the dead sea scrolls. There was a grafted in symbol they used in the scrolls that many think may indicate they were believers! I have the symbol on a charm that I wear around my neck. I love it!

LORI, I am inclined to agree with you on Ez.38 and the USA. Israel has never been a country that is safe from attacks from someone, all of the time. The USA has never lived behind walls since the early days of settlements and military forts were abandoned. We are prosperous, consider ourselves free and are of a world's melting pot of nationalities. I have been reading the Peshetta translation and it is really interesting.

I agree with Lori on this one and it does give me pause to think that Joel is closely connected but that isn't the only one. Genesis is another one that foretells and even though it is related to Israel, the foreshadows are true for the church age also.
There is so much to study and not enough time to do it right. I am involved in Dr. Fruchtenbaum's exegesis on Isaiah and it is really good too. I'm back and need your prayers. My son lives in a little northern Missouri town of about 2000 people and they just suffered a tornado that took the life of one of the women in that attended school with my daughter. The storm then tracked north, northeast and they are due more dangerous weather tonight. My son said that they watched the funnel moving up the draw about 50 yards from the north side of their house and had no damage. This little town is very close knit and it just seems that terrible things are always happening there either to the town or the residents. The name of the town is Milan.

Anne, Shalom! My bible (NAB) says pretty much the same thing, that Damascus was destroyed in 732 B.C.; however, I consider that to be only a partial fulfillment. Is. 17 talks about how no one will ever live in Damascus again; while Damascus was destroyed it was built up again.

Anne, sometimes prophecies are fulfilled more than once. The Word talks about the abomination of desolation. This happened with Antiochus Epiphanese (spelling?)when he slaughtered a pig in the temple and scattered the blood all over it. It will also be fulfilled on a larger scale by antichrist. There is also a verse in Matthew that says when you see these things let the people in Judea flee to the mountains. Some people say that before the holocaust some people were warned and fled. Their lives were spared. This could be a fulfillment of the prophecy, but it will be fulfilled at the end of time also. What I am saying, instead of viewing G-ds Word as a timeline, as we are accustomed to, sometimes it makes more sense if we view it as a cycle, or circle. The Word says there is nothing new under the sun. Unfortunatley, we are destined to repeat things. Many times because there are so many people who will not learn. With that in mind, Damascus may have already had a fulfillment of prophecy, but yet see a bigger fulfillment of it in the future. I hope that makes sense!

Great Granny I will definitely keep these people in my prayers. I use to live in Amarillo Texas. I don't miss it! No offense to anyone who may still be there, but living in the middle of a bowling alley, and being the pins, just isn't my cup of tea! We had to go into the home of a cousin in Lefors Texas where the walls were laying on their side. We crawled in between the walls, really dangerous, and dug out what posessions of theirs we could. Talk about listening to G-d! My cousin was in bed when it came. It leveled half the town. She heard it coming and all she could think about was getting her baby to safety. She ran clear to the other side of the house, grabbed the baby, and made it to the living room when it hit. When we got there, the roof was completely gone and the walls were laying like cards propped up on each other sideways. The only clear spot of debris was a circle in the center of the living room floor where she had lain over her baby! The baby's bed was covered in glass from the window! G-d is so good!

I'm leery of giving this too much credit. At the end, the article contains a very lengthy quote on "...what the British press reported on the incident (while the American press was censored)." Yet, the article doesn't give a citation. Which British media outlet printed this information? The Times? The Guardian? It reminds me of those stories in World News Weekly where the source of the story on the mermaid found in a can of tuna was "a group of noted scientists."
While I don't doubt this stuff can be used to influence emotion (high Electro-Magnetic Field (EMF) strength has been linked to higher levels of depression and feelings of being watched) one thing I know is that no hypnosis can force you to do something you don't want to do, that is against your moral character. If this technology can influence your emotions, then that can weaken your resistance to things you know are wrong, but you still have to make the choice to follow through on those emotions. You still have a choice over right and wrong.
As for why the push to HDTV? In a word: money. Specifically, the great green gobs of money the Feds will get from auctioning off the frequencies formerly used by the TV services. There are cell phone services, fire and emergency radio services, wireless networks, and a host of other services that eat radio frequencies like a fat guy attacking a bowl of chips during a football game. When the final TV station has left the VHF and UHF frequencies, the FCC will hold an auction to allow Verizon and ATT and a host of other companies you've never heard of to buy exclusive use of groups of frequencies. And each device that's sold that uses one of these frequencies will have to include a license to the FCC, which will be included in the cost of the device. IOW, the US Govt. will get it's own cut of the take. If a device is really successful (the next Blackberry, for example) that's going to be a very big take.

July 10 because it is exactly 3 and 1/2 years from then until Dec 21 2012, which could be the midpoint of the tribulation.

As for the HD tv signal, what Jim said sounds perfectly legitimate. I have been told, however, to watch out for anything that contains fiber optics. (Which now is nearly everything) Someone who is more tech savvy can say for sure, but I have heard that everything with the fiber optic can be used two-ways. You can bring the signal in, and they can recieve a signal from you. Creepy!

Christine, Shalom! Yes, fiber optic cable can act as a two-way system. So can regular cable. (I'm using a cable modem for my internet, meaning my internet signal is both being sent and being rec'ved over my TV cable.) So can your regular telephone line. What you would need is something on the TV end that would be like a webcam/microphone that would send a signal back down the line to whoever.
Just remember: the next time you watch "NCIS" or any other program on CBS, make sure to wave at the friendly eye they have watching you... >:->

There's a problem when people talk about the 3 and 1/2 years in scripture. There's just one problem: it doesn't say "3 and 1/2 years"; it says "42 months".
In the Gregorian calendar we use now, 42 months = 3 and 1/2 years. In the HEBREW calendar, it doesn't. The Hebrew calendar has several leap years in a 19-year cycle where there are 13 months in the year instead of 12.
The date Dec. 21, 2012 is 8 Tevet 5773 in the Hebrew calendar. Doing some calculating and counting backwards, I've found that 42 months previously to Dec. 21, 2012 is July 20, 2010 in the Gregorian calendar. In the Hebrew calendar, it's ...

IOW, 42 months previous to Dec. 21, 2012 is the day before Tisha B'Av, or the Ninth of Av. 9 Av is the day that both the First and the Second Temples were destroyed, and when the Romans completed the desecration of the Temple site by building a statue to Zeus there after the final uprising of the Jews against the Romans. The three weeks from 17 Tammuz to 9 Av is a period of fasting and grief over the loss of the Temple.
So what's so special about 8 Av? Nothing. It's just that Zechariah 8:19 says that the fasts of the fourth and fifth months (Tammuz and Av), "will become joy, gladness, and cheerful feasts for the house of Judah." If a covenant is confirmed on that day followed by the beginning of rebuilding the Temple, that might be cause for 9 Av to be a cheerful feast, would it not?

You know that feast days are just rehearsals for what to expect. For example, the Spring Feasts are rehearsals for the Messiah's first coming.
The Counting of the Omer and Pentecost.
There are some who think that Pentecost (50 days) was completed by the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Before Jesus left, he told the disciples to remain until they are baptised with the Holy Spirit, 50 days later... poweee! I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that perhaps some prophesy reverses.
So if you take that possibility into consideration, it's conceivable to say that there is a countdown until the Holy Spirit is taken away from the earth. Since He is in us, we are taken away to be with Him
If you take the feast days and eclipses into account, it's very possible that we are going to see a major prophetic event happening very soon...

Lori, Shalom! Yes, Hebrew dates actually start at sunset the day before. So, the Hebrew Date Converter (which I have a quicklink to!) says today, May 15 2009 is 27 Iyyar 5769. However, if I check the box in the "Gregorian to Hebrew" section that says "After sundown", both dates advance one day.
Based on that, I would say that 19 July, 2010 is 8 Av 5770. At sunset, the Hebrew date will change to 9 Av.

I was probably one of the 1st one's here to read "Isralestine."
The theory sounds reasonable to me so I just keep it in the back of my mind. There is not a whole lot we can do but wait on the Lord's timing & see what happens.
God sure created us to be an intuitive & curious bunch-has He not?
In regards to the Hebrew Roots movement-it's the same ole "circular" situation. Something good comes about where the Christians & Jews both benefit-then Satan comes along to pervert & confuse. That dragon does it every time. I've personally gained a great deal of insight from looking @ the Bible through the Hebrew lens & especially love the teachers who are either Messianic Jews or who teach that way.
It's just that we could be "picked off" by the tainted Hebrew movements if we're not careful. So better to know about the bad ones as they'll be easier to spot just in case. **Also, if we run into someone that's been led astray we'll know how to respond. (I've ran into some blogging before.)
Oh, Boy! I just about made a terrible mistake in making a published comment and I am very thankful that the Holy Spirit took a hand in preventing it.
I am going to say that we need to START practicing discernment about free speech when it comes to blogging. You all know who and what I feel in relationship with our present leadership. My prayers are being redirected concerning these men and women and for that I am eternally grateful to God and especially the Holy Spirit.
Keep praying for BOO's salvation and that God lead him mightily in all things that pertain to Israel.

It is for sure we are getting ready for something fast, furious and fantastic happening all at once but I don't have a clue what it will be. I just know that God is the conductor and we are the orchestra trying to present the symphony in all of it's glory.
I am going back to the links and catch up with you all but I thank you for your prayers regarding the Missouri Tornado. Kirksville is just 28 miles almost due east of Milan where my kids all live. One of my grandsons live southwest of the little town and caught the tail end of the twister as it roared past. It lifted about 50 feet from their manufactured home (sits out in the open due to losing all of their trees during the ice storms 2 years ago)and they watched it as it headed to the city limits. Then it passed behind my son's home about 50 yds. north, going away and to the east. My other grandson lives just east of my son by about 3 blocks, right in the path of the twister, but by this time it had lifted again. My great grandkids were outside fishing in their pond and saw the dark clouds rolling towards them. The oldest one, my grand daughter born on my birthday, gathered them up *3 brothers and sister*, shooing them into the basement and hollered for her mom and dad to come see. Their house sits along the high ridge overlooking the state highway and they could see the twister turning a little to the south as it went past. All of them were in the safety of their south facing basement and could see the whole thing. My grandson was called out on power outage about 10 minutes later and he said the damage was quite extensive. I am so thankful for God's protection of them all.
JIB, Kirksville did get hit hard and it took them forever to flip the cars back over. It only took a few seconds for the force of nature to do it.

I come in here from time to time to check things out. The family is doing well. The boys are growing up...3 1/2 and 1 1/2 now. I haven't found the "off" switch on either of them yet.
I kinda laugh when I look at all the forecasts for the economy. Most of the time they are trying to find anything to be optimistic about so they can hope to cling to what is left of their fortunes. It's easy to get caught up in it all. Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven.
I think most of us agree in here that we won't have much use for any retirement savings.
I just wish we could access what's left of retirement so we could further the kingdom.
Could you imagine what good would be accomplished if we could all take the remainder of our accounts and send it to a ministry like Jerry Golden or Franklin Graham?

I know a lady who makes a very good living selling parking meters. The actual company is based in Europe but they have a few branches in different countries.
I'm sure this is only the tip of the ice for the RFID market. It's cashless & they can track you-your family-and what you spend and on what. This way if your kid gets lost at an amusement park- one of the park attendants can scan the RFID bracelet & tell you exactly where they are.
Disneyland Florida is doing the fingerprint scan upon entry but this sounds even better.

I couldn't agree with you more, about re-directing our prayers, concerning President Obama, and those in authority. They need salvation, of course,... and they also need Godly advisors.
After all, Daniel (O.T. Prophet :) was an advisor to a govt., and govts., that were far from Godly. Even when he was called in, to read the handwriting on the wall, Daniel stayed pretty respectful of the govt. officials, and kept his "cool." (okay, I'm 62 years old, so give me a break, LOL!) Also he only said, what God revealed him to say/reveal. Nothing more/nothing less.
I believe that the Holy Spirit is drawing us to prayer for our officials. Wheather they persecute us, or not. Time will tell. But I also believe we should have the attitude of the three Hebrew children that were thrown into the fiery furnace. Basically, if we are delivered, praise God. If we perish, praise God again! Because we know that if we're absent from the body we're present with the Lord. 2 Cor. 5: 8

(CNN) — A 6.7-magnitude earthquake rocked New Zealand’s remote Kermadec island region Saturday afternoon, according to the US Geological Survey.

I woke up the other morning from a very disturbing dream and it still rattles me timbers. (Black Beard impersonation). I could see into the white house very clearly as though looking down through the roof and there was confusion all around the family. The children were being protected by very powerful looking men (or what seemed to be men) and I remember thinking, I hope the wound wasn't to the head. When I awoke I had the awfullest feeling of doom. I kept looking for BOO to emerge from the doors but I woke up before that happened.
I sure hope that doesn't come about and I am thinking it was due more to the talk about JFK and his brother on a program that was presented on our education station. We cannot let that happen again and I approach it in the same manner as I do the terrible storms we have been having. Pray and believe that God is working overtime for the good of all men.
We are experiencing the same weather formation tonight that we had last night. This storm is following the same path and the only difference is the involvement of the western section of Texas this time. Seems we are going to experience storms rolling in from the North, Northwest and also from the Southwest tonight.
We had a lot of wind last night with forces reaching in the 80 mph range. Some of the areas were recording 100 mph but we were spared that.
I love all of you and oh, I enjoy the fellowship and discussion we are all having. It is good seeing some of the ones who have been out of the loop (Donna's description) and Davey! Grace, Diana and Christine in addition to Late Night Lisa. I am still trying to get the links all visited but I am getting a little tired right now.

And forget faceybook. I found faceybook so time consuming and demanding. People kept "poking" requesting to be my friend, and most I had never met. Just trying to keep up with the requests was mind boggling. It finally became necessary to close the account. Phew! What a relief!

News is another story, If I can legally access info on a website, I do. Sometimes if it requires a subscription, I enter the title of the article in a search engine and click on the cached version. You'd be amazed at how much more I can access. Completely legal folks, that is not hacking.
Anywho, there is so much going on and today is my older son's b.day. He's 21.
So no news today... This mom has to make a huge homemade chocolate cake. By the way, the best recipe is on the Hershey can, but the frosting is my own chocolate buttercream.

EVERYONE, we escaped another terrible storm last night and all we got was a little wind for about 5 minutes and just a little over 1/4 of an inch and it only lasted a short time. Our yard is full of water to the place that the birds have one giant bird bath if we keep kitty cat inside. Our ground is completely soaked and so it just stays put until it dries up. So humid but the high today is supposed to be 69 degrees and I can really enjoy those conditions.
I have to share something with you all and hope you don't think it strange. I have told you in the past that I was having difficulty in staying focused and encouraged when I was praying, reading my bible, and studying of any kind. Yesterday I was on Rapture Ready blog and I haven't been there for sometime now. I was interested in a particular subject and when I googled it, the link took me to RR blog. It was an article of Thomas Ice on Prophecy "How Signs of the Times relate to the Rapture and The Second Coming". This is what I am so excited about because it was like a big heavy hand was removed from my whole being.
I actually had no problems in reading, gleaning and learning as I studied the passages that are related to Mr. Ice's remarks. I couldn't stop the desire to really dig and gather what I was studying and it was such a great joy. No more distractions and I am wondering if it was because the Holy Spirit was leading me to really get a firm grip on "What thus sayeth the Lord".
Sometimes I think we chase too many squirrels instead of focusing on the subject. Reading just to be reading is not my idea of productivity. I guess I really am goal oriented and at this stage and age of my life, I can't switch horses or change how I do things.
I have been really enjoying reading a book by Grant Jefferey "Heaven" and I think it would be very beneficial for a lot of us to read it. Not because you have a over powering desire to leave this earth but because it is our heritage and just like everything else, we shouldn't let the world tell us what it is all about.
Now, I have to get lunch ready for DJH and I am still full from breakfast.

Some good thoughts about heaven! That is, after all, our final goal/destination. And what we do now, in the here and now, will certainly influence our life in eternity. When we read the letters to the Church, there is quite a bit said about heaven. Not a lot coming from the average pulpit, IMHO, though :(
The saying, "they're so heavenly minded, they're no earthy good," isn't really accurate. What about placing that saying in reverse? "They're so earthy minded, they're no heavenly good?" Not accurate, either :) So, IMHO, staying in the middle of the road, is good. That way, we won't get in a ditch on either side of the road."

I would love to gather someplace with all of you and just camp out! Tent city or even get a big abandoned hotel like the ones on the beaches in Sarasota a few years ago. I say abandoned because no one would be complaining about all of us talking at once.
I am getting very homesick to see my momma, brothers, loved ones who have gone on to their eternal homes. I really get weepy when I think about them and yet, I don't want to miss out on all of the wonderful things we will be experiencing the closer it gets to our becoming airborne and no wings.

greetings all. we are on a whirlwind tour thru the states. we picked up our daughter in Chicago on Wednesday, and then headed west. Today we visited the grand canyon, and tomorrow we should be near San Diego. then we will head back to Vancouver Canada, next week. Today I was the expert and took some panoramic pictures of the nicest view. only thing is, I took them in black and white.
We were thru MO just the day after that big tornado, and we had some strong winds, but no other problems.

What really worries me the most is the danger of Joe becoming the president due to any disturbing event for more than an hour or so. I really feel we need to cover him in prayers also because if these episodes of unwise blurtings is due to a genuine mental or physical situation, we are in danger of untold proportions.

There is just so much to learn all over again with the new discoveries of God's Word. I spent over 8 hours while at my daughter's this past week end and it isn't that there is new revelations going on but we are finally able to understand some of the symbols and terms. My son-in-law has a fantastic book with all of Torrey's writing in it and a slew of Dr. Walvoord's material plus text from some of the great evangelist of the 1800's. The volume helps build muscles but it would take 5 life times to go through all of it. It was his grandfather's and I covet it greatly. I am offering to house sit while they are in the process of moving to Arizona.

Starting off the day in a very strange way but with God leading the way, it has to get in line with His plans, pursuits, and purposes. Can you all feel the suspense in the air? And what about all of those supposedly "earth tremors" we were experiencing back in December, January and February? Does it all seem weird to any of you that all of this has become such an out of joint existence for most of us? Even DJH is wondering "what in the world is going on" and that book by David Jeremiah is really getting DJH's attention.

I always imagined a "bow" being as in "a bow & arrow".
I wonder what that word means in the original language?
A bow as in a weapon is also in a crescent shape. There were many pictures of that in the "My name is Lucifer" link.
The white horse represents peace but even w/that we have seen some symbolism of a "white horse" related to Obama as well. The Denver Airport/Denver Stadium-where he gave his speech, & in one of those Obama messianic paintings.
If I could take a college class on symbolism I'd do it in a second. Lucifer plants these images into the minds of people so that his 'Stamp' is shown in our realm.
Not only that but people who have relationships w/the demonic use symbolism to open up channels for supernatural power.
How that works I have no clue. But just look at that stage set Obama approved for his inauguration speech-a copy of where "the seat of Satan" is.

I got quite the chuckle out of your wilma comment. too funny.
we are back at home and had a rather eventful trip. we went to Niagara and did the cave of the winds tour. you can stand underneath part of the falls on the hurricane deck on the American side. a rather large rush of water came over the falls and knocked our son down and started hydroplaning him toward the edge/stairs of the deck. I went to stop his forward motion and fell or jumped in his way and we got tangled up. could be that he knocked me over as the details are rather sketchy and I didn't fall like I normally do when I lose my balance. Adrenaline is an amazing thing. I think I might have injured myself mildly however since I am still a little more sore than I usually am. man that water was reallllly cold! our son is just fine. thanks be to God!

NATE, I think it would be a very good thing to do some really deep word searching on the bow, the covenant after the flood, the term "earth" as used in the scripture according to the Hebrew meaning and also, make a real word study on the seals and their time frame. A lot of the material out there isn't the result of the Holy Spirit's leading and it would be very easy to get off into a ditch. Lots of trash and snakes in the ditches and I don't want you to be endangered. Something else I would recommend to you and if I could, I would send you the material I am going to suggest. Dr. Fruchtenbaum has a new, very worthwhile study on Geneses that is available on ebooks. You can get it for a very good price, I have it and love it. It is also available in hard cover book form. I like it on my computer because it is so easy to use. Here is the link: THE BOOK OF GENESIS.
I would if I could, send it to you but it is especially important study of the very beginning of our Bibles and relates to our todays.

Caller raided live on air: Woman arrested for trespassing in her own home. Check out this audio of a lady who lives in Hillsboro, MO. She has her house paid off but the bank issued a warrant to seize it-due to some confusion in "paperwork". She called in this radio show & the sheriff incident was recorded & put on the air until they shut her phone off.
JIB, that experience is just plain spooky! I am so glad your son and you are alright albeit a little bruised and sore. You were very responsive and cool headed in your approach to preventing a disaster and I know the adrenalin is still surging.

I just found something quite good at Dr. Fruchtenbaum's site. When you click on "Come and See" on the home page, it will take you to the MP3 teachings that Dr. Fruct does. At the top of the page there is a pop out menu when you click on the "Seecast Syllabus"at the top of the page. Then click on NEW: Fifty Fold Gifts. It will take you a letter telling you that by simply clicking on the code number to the left of the list of articles. It is all free and the selection is quite extensive. There is no limit to the number of PDF downloads you can get.
If I were younger by say, 25 years, I would love to work for them getting all of the material of Dr. Fruct's teaching into printed form. Oh, yeah!

Grany, I've got Frucht's Genesis on PDF. But I'm still poring over "Footsteps". I didn't realize just how much info there is in that book. If anyone has the book, check out in particular his take on the Oliver Discourse and how he harmonizes it with Mark and Luke. He made one point that, at first reading, I strongly disagreed with. Then I read it again and came to the conclusion he was probably right. I used to think that anyone I disagreed with was wrong. But apparently it ain’t so. Scary thought.
Oliver? I believe that should be Olivet. But what do I know.
