"Happy days are here again..."
I just heard the author of this book interviewed on the radio. He was excellent!
The Emergent Church. Its very name implies innovative understandings of Orthodox Christianity. But what exactly does it stand for? What exactly does it teach?
In The Emergent Church - Undefining Christianity Bob DeWaay exposes the core belief that unifies the Emergent Church - its eschatology. He demonstrates that in their system every other Christian concept is open to discussion and contradiction, yet their definition of eschatology remains constant and fixed; it is their sole unifying foundation. Without their eschatology there is no Emergent Church.
Many have attempted to understand the movement, but have met with frustration when they encounter undefined language and contradictory beliefs that are inconsistent-within the text and between authors. Indeed, the Emergent Church and its leaders intentionally avoid definitions or defined statements of faith that can be understood and discerned and welcome definitions that are felt or experienced. It is no wonder that frustration results.
Once these facts are understood it becomes obvious that "Emergent" is not new at all; it is age-old heresy repackaged in postmodern subjectivity whose purpose is the further seduction of the naïve and of those who refuse to love and obey the truth.

love the verses you chose Mr Hyde
I'm a baaaaad girl. Watched two recent Perry Stone clips & was put on Web restriction again.
They were both good. One dealt w/why people wake up at "The 4th Hour" & what may be happening @ that time in the spiritual realm.
Basically it's the best time to interceed in prayer.
I remember as a young child waking up at I think 2:00am on the second every night for weeks. Even @ other times I would still wake up @ exactly 2:00 am. I just remember how bizzare it was & never forgot it.
(I have no idea now because I don't have a clock on my side of the bed.) But-I do have to say it has been on the nights which I've been up from 1:00-2:30 am praying that I've felt more spiritually in tune w/YHWH.
The 4th hour actually begins @ 3:00 am & Jesus mentions praying to the Father in the 4th hour.
Jib, so glad to hear your son was saved from a possible catastrophe @ those falls. The angels were on full alert! I looked at the picture-how scary!
I agree, Jim. I've heard Bob DeWaay on Jan Markell's show. I listened to him debate Doug Pagitt once. Pagitt was vague and wouldn't be pinned down on fundamental issues. And yet he still managed to whine about his treatment by Pastor DeWaay.
Lisa
true enough. It was not especially scary until he was knocked down and I was right there with he and his cousin the whole time. Our nephew had no problems but he is a bit taller than our son and a bit heavier. It was actually an incredible experience to be that close to the falls and I would consider doing it again in the future. our son of course would do it again tomorrow. he was scared when he was knocked over but the minute his forward progress was stopped he was all smiles and excitement and thought it great sport and fun. me not so much.
Lisa, You're getting a little behind in your sources. That conference is well over, and I frankly haven't heard anything about it in any Catholic circles, so it didn't amount to anything. And that one about "Catholics ordered to keep quiet over Virgin visions"; that was back from January. The article in the Independent was a bit sensational and thus misleading. It has generally been the policy that people who claim to have had an apparition are not supposed to discuss the apparitions until given permission by the local bishop to do so. It's just that the bishops have been lax in enforcing that rule; and now the Vatican has reminded them of their duty.
And Lisa, if you WERE to take a college class in symbolism, I'd be VERY careful. The book "The DaVinci Code" was full of horse hockey, but there was one point that was spot on: symbols are culturally dependent. They change through time and they change through place, depending on what meanings a culture has assigned the symbol. The swastika is a perfect case in point. Up until Hitler adopted it as the Nazi party symbol, it was a very powerful symbol of good fortune (one of the reasons Hitler chose it). Now you would NEVER see it used in such a way again. The symbol's meaning changed because of the meaning assigned to it by our culture.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that you can't simply assume a symbol is something that was put there by Satan because of how we view it now. A crescent isn't always a sign of Islam or a sign of evil. When you see drawings or pictures of outhouses, for example, you'll usually see a crescent carved into the door. This is because public outhouses would be marked with symbols: a sun for the men (since the sun is masculine) and a moon (a crescent shape) for women (since the moon is female). Since the men would usually go off into the bushes to do their business, having outhouses marked for men gradually fell out of favor, until the only outhouses around were ones marked with the crescent moon, by tradition.
This was brought home to me in that "My Name Is Lucifer" article by Ray Gano. It upset me so much that I've stayed away from the board since then. His insistence that the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe is satanic is based on so much ignorance, I have to consider that it is willfull ignorance and thus sinful in and of itself. He bases his main objection on the fact that the woman in the image is standing on what he calls a crescent, meaning it's Islamic, meaning that it's evil. It appears to have never occurred to him to view it in light of Rev. 12:1, a woman "clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet" Pretty much every culture on Earth uses a circle to represent the sun and a crescent to represent the moon. He also seems to choose to ignore the NAME "Guadalupe", which is a Spanish corruption of a name in Nahuatl that means, "She who crushes the head of the serpent."
Again, there is so much information out there on Guadalupe that to take the stand that he has taken borders on sinful ignorance. What I find amazing are two recent discoveries: First, the image on the tilma has light and refractive properties that are totally unlike any known pigments; rather, they are closer to the way colors appear on a bird's feather. Second, a number of ophthalmologists have examined the eyes of the woman in the image. All, without fail, have reported that even though the painting is a two-dimensional object, when they shine a light into them, they fill with light as living eyes do. Also, all the ophthalmologists have reported seeing the image of a man reflected in the eyes of the woman. The image is reflected three times, first behind the cornea, second behind the lens, and the third inverted image within the lens. It's called the Purkinje-Sanson effect, and it is what happens in normal healthy eyes.
GAAH! Still too upset to make much sense. Will try again later.

A refuge and a ruin
Early explorers who dared to cross oceans quickly learned a valuable lesson: The currents of the sea could carry them to their destination, if followed correctly. Those currents could also divert them from their journey, if ignored. The very same current can have either a positive effect or a negative effect on a sailing vessel; it all depends on the knowledge and the response of the crew.
God's wisdom is, in some ways, like the currents of the sea. It can carry us where we need to go. It is our refuge, the means to keep us safe and bring us to our desired destination. But only if we follow it. The benefit of His wisdom only applies to those who are willing to line up with it and set their course accordingly. Otherwise, those same beneficial currents will lead to ruin.
History is filled with millions who have tried to follow a path contrary to God's wisdom. It may be a false religion or philosophy, a personal ambition, a political agenda, an economic strategy, or any other things that we humans, in our ignorance, may set our hearts on. Millions have sailed against the currents of God and failed. Their end is miserable. What looked so promising was found to be futile.
Do you have a personal agenda? Plans for your future? Examine them closely and ask yourself if they are thoroughly consistent with God's ways. If not, you could sail comfortably for thousands of miles, thinking you're headed toward the right destination, only to find out you're far, far away. Even slight variations in the beginning can lead you way off course in the end. Plan now. Learn the currents. Take refuges in the wisdom of God.

I don't know if the transcript is up yet or not but the interview with Beck last night was quite interesting. Beck had Joel and the former head of the Bin Laden division of the CIA on last night and the opinion of the latter was chilling. He opined that we should completely desert Israel as they were involved in a religious war with the Arab states and the US had no business being involved at all. He further stated that since both sides claimed that their god gave them the rights to the same land that we should just abandon Israel and the whole mess in the ME and let the 2 gods decide which was the better god! To say that Joel was stunned as was Beck (and my hubby and I) would be an understatement. The scary thing is that Joel noted that this is a growing sentiment in the US.

If an article is interesting or relevant I post it. I haven't really considered that the actual "date" would be something to be concerned about.
I have not read the Da Vinci Code-but did see the movie. Don't ask me how much I remember from it because it's very little. I rather not fill my head up w/false blasphemous information. My D.H. however, loved it so I'm always having to Biblically counteract what was presented.
Satan does use the same symbols throughout the ages. You're right some can change in meaning depending upon the time but they can never-the-less be traced back to their Luciferian sources.
One example is the "Peace" symbol. I will not allow my daughters to wear it-period. It may be a little overboard to the world-I admit. Today it represents "Peace" but since I know it's really a pagan symbol-I'm not going to allow them to parade around w/it regardless of what the general re-definition of it is today.
Symbolism in Catholicism I'm sure is a sensitive subject for a Catholic or Orthodox person. There are probably many things to be ruffled up about if you view it through a literal symbolic viewpoint & trace it back to it's source.
The main one being "the Queen of Heaven". I'm not even going to go there other than this exact symbol of Mother/Child originated w/Pagan societies. So when I see a crescent moon under her feet I'm going to view it differently.
Honestly when I think of "a moon under her feet" it's a full moon. I think I've seen the same image painted that way as well.
When I see gargoyles and demonic entities peering out from the rafters of old Gothic Cathedrals-not to mention even having a statue of Satan in the Foyer-I view that as a Satanic signature. Superstition is not of God & the Holy Spirit-no matter the time frame in which it was common.
Symbols in the Occult world apparently release some kind of supernatural power. We are able to invite satanic principalities & powers into our Churches,
Nations, Homes by incorporating their handed down phrases/symbols, gestures.
If you haven't- do some research on the topic as it's quite the spiritual warfare eye-opener.
Most people would white-wash the significance of Obama parading around on that copy of the seat of Lucifer @ his inauguration as well.
Unless we spend some time studying Christian sources on how the spiritual dimension operates-all of the symbolism/phrases/gestures
which are in plain view- will not bring up red flags as it's meaningless w/o having that knowledge.
Here are some symbols I studied from the Emblems of the 12 Tribes of Israel. (A couple I found may have been different-Like Asher-tree symbol. It means blessed, happy, prosper, guide, lead.)
Naphtali-Stag
Simeon-Castle Gate
Zebulun-Ship
Reuben-Water
Asher-Goblet/Cup
Judah-Lion
Gad-Tent-as in leader of troop
Dan-Snake-meaning to judge
Issachar-Ass- under burden
Levi-no property/Priesthood-two diamonds?
Ephraim-Ox
Mannaseh-Olive branches/Arrows
Benjamin-Wolf
The point being-God didn't intend everyone to be exactly the same. He formed 12 Tribes who all represented different qualities & gifts-yet they all were required to obey the same rules & honor & worship YHWH.
The Church today is not made up of only one "Tribe" or "Type". It's made up of several types w/different qualities & gifts. We too are required to obey what God revealed to us through Christ in the Bible & honor & worship YHWH.
When we depart from the written word of God & make up our own "ways" is when trouble begins.
This creates a separate "Tribe" or "Church" which has re-defined it's role in God's plan for the Body of Christ. They separate themselves & claim that their way has become the only way or true way to YHWH.
This is not what God ever intended. We all have an individualized & special relationship w/our creator. He's even given us all a unique name that only He knows but will tell us someday.
Our God is beyond compare!
According to Rev 7:4-8, the tribe of Dan is the only original tribe of Israel which is not included in the list of tribes which are sealed.
Jim C - Re Ray Gano - Ray has been collaborating closely with Walid Shoebat and Joel Richardson and had been involved in some verbal spars with the European AC advocates at the time he wrote that. One incident got quite nasty and personal.
I get Ray’s e-mails although I’m not a member of Prophezine and haven't asked for them. I read that article, looked at the pics and thought his conclusions were quite forced and an effort to cement his viewpoint. I do understand your frustration.
Lisa,
Coming from a Full Gospel Church, I'd hate to be compared with some of the "types," and flat-out "nuts" that come out of the Pentecostal movement :)
None of us should be held responsible for what symbols, and such, belong to years long gone by, in any Church. IMHO, that was then,...and this is now.
By the way, I love Dan Brown books! (author of the De Vinci Code, and Angels and Demons, etc.) I know, I know. But hey, they're works of fiction! Many have come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, by the subject being made "open." Heaven has lots of surprises for us, I believe. Curve balls, too, LOL!
Keep the Faith!
Love,
Marge
I'd hate to be compared with some of the "types," and flat-out "nuts" that come out of the Pentecostal movement Not that there's anything wrong with that, huh?
Lori,
There's a lot wrong in the world.
There's a lot wrong within the Church, too.
That's all I meant to say. Does that make sense to you?
Love,
Marge
Well there are a lot of nuts that have come out of the pentecostal movement! :)
Well, with all of the nuts running around maybe we need to call for the squirrels to come eat.
Oh, by the way, the nuts are not all coming from the churches either. We have quite a few in Washington, D.C. But for that matter, I have a bunch in my freezer. Nuts, that is.
Now I have to get to bed. I was up at 3 a.m. today and it has been a long day. I just finished watching Perry's Manna Fest on Christian TV.com and now I am wondering "What was I supposed to be praying for?" and then I realized, it was the dogs barking that woke me up.
Gotta go, love you all!
Grany
Lori-don't you find that interesting? But I guess it's both the tribe of Dan & Ephraim which are omitted.
Grace Thru Faith has an article on the question.
FYI-
Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. has genealogical roots to the tribe of Dan on his mother's side, and has possible roots to the tribe of Judah on his father's side. [See http://www.prophecyinthenews.com/articledetail.asp?Article_ID=238]
From:Anti-Christ from the tribe of Dan.Marge,
I forgot to mention that your Church plans on hanging a "Pentagram" behind the alter. But that won't bother you right? It's now the cool re-defined Christian symbol. It still has a symbol of an upright cross in the middle of it.(chuckle, chuckle)
D.H. says the same thing. It's only fiction. He read it before he came to Christ & before he knew anything about the Bible. It seemed to confuse him @ the time but now he's better off w/some background in the Word.
YHWH can turn evil into good so I realize nothing is beyond His doing. However from a spiritual warfare standpoint-books like these tend to work doubts into our minds. Similar to the twisted portrayal of God in "the Shack." The main argument for that is the same. "It's only fiction."
I suppose God only knows if it does more harm than good to read these things but personally any misrepresentation of our Lord causes me to cringe.
I'll just stick to reading the discernment info on these books & stick to the Biblical truth types.
Otherwise you'd see me get my highlighter out & go nuts refuting all the lies. It would cause me 100% aggravation w/0% enjoyment.
But-that's just me. I don't suppose most Christians get as worked up about it as I tend to.
Lisa...I'm actually quite prone to getting worked up about the Da Vinci Code...just ask Alesia.
say it ain't so, say it ain't so - we're not talking about the davinci code!!!
Hyde speaketh the truth - oye
I wish I could use special ink, that only Marge could read ... I also think Dan Brown is a good writer, for his other two fictional books, especially.
I did just re-read Angels & Demons because the movie is coming out & I wanted to prepare myself for debate.
Jim C, stay far away, blood will shoot from your eyes. That book is HORRIBLE in that it takes the most holiest of characters & turns him into a psycho - very much puts Christians (but in particular Catholics) in a very bad light.
Jib - thank God my little buddy is safe & sound! Good job mommy, I'm sure with hefty help from above.
Yes, thank God your sweet son is safe, jib. Those waters are amazing...but very powerful and in this fallen world we live in can be dangerous.
I can't wait till He makes all things new!
Got a question for you guys...and of course I am praying about it...here goes:
My brother in law is a brother with the catholic church. He has been invited to participate in a ceremony in Rome where a nun will be made into a saint.
Of course when I think about it I roll my eyes and think "how ridiculous (no offense, Jim) as true believers are all saints, etc.
But I am leaning towards just responding by saying "oh how nice", rather than starting a debate, etc.
Any thoughts?
As for all the Dan Brown stuff...I have too much to read and do. I'm staying away from it all and just acknowledging it as fiction! Along with most other things that are out there!
God will catch you
There is no one like the God of Israel. He rides across the heavens to help you, across the skies in majestic splendor. The eternal God is your refuge, and his everlasting arms are under you. Deuteronomy 33:26-27 NLT
When you are at the end of your rope, God is there to catch you—but not before.
Erwin W. Lutzer
God's everlasting arms
Our world seemed to be falling apart. My husband was severely depressed, and his business was crumbling. As I tried to support and nurture our children, help my husband, and take up the slack financially, I became drained physically, spiritually, and mentally. I cried out to God in exhaustion, and I felt his everlasting arms underneath me. Quieting my racing heart, the Lord reminded me that although my own resources might be exhausted, his resources were limitless.
During that difficult season I experienced God as my refuge when there was nowhere else to turn, and I felt his security in the middle of a very uncertain, insecure time.
In today's passage Moses praises the Lord and assures the Israelites that God will be with them no matter what adversity or trial they encounter—that he is their refuge and underneath them are his everlasting arms. Do you need to feel God's everlasting arms carrying you today because your strength is exhausted? Do you know someone who is in desperate straits and needs God's help? Pray these verses for yourself or for someone else, and proclaim God's faithfulness.
LORD, there is no one like you! You ride across the heavens in majestic splendor to help us when we cry out to you. May we experience you today as our refuge and sense your everlasting arms of protection and love holding us. I praise you for your faithfulness and unparalleled power!
jib, I am so glad your son is safe! Nothing can disturb us so deeply as the safety of our children. Makes you wonder how much G-d is moved when we are in danger! Probably even more than we are.....
Alesia, that was a beautiful post!
Lisa, I enjoyed your link to Lucifer signs. While, as Jim C. said, maybe every sign didn't intend to represent evil, it does make you more aware of things. I am thinking about the all-seeing eye at the end of the History Channel's hype on their event-changing show. Seems like symbolism has become very strong in modern times and it helps to know what they represent. I remember, when the Clinton's were coming into office people were commenting on how good they were at symbolism. It is something that should cause us to at least question the source. I was surprised to see one of my favorite Christian singers on the Dove Awards wearing huge earrings with peace signs on them. I just thought she is probably young and doesn't know where they came from. It is something we do need to learn.

yes you are correct with help from above. I was not wearing my brace and was wearing filmsy shoes with no support on my ankles on a very slippery surface. the fact that I didn't get injured other than sore was miraculous in and of itself
Lisa,
There's not very much that upsets me anymore, I have to admit. I've come to realize, that I don't have to defend God. He's big enough. A lot has been done in His name, that He's never been a part of, etc., too.
As far as the Church of Jesus Christ.
IMHO it's all the redeemed. So wheather we're RCC, Full Gospel, Presbyterian, or Independents, etc, we all belong to the same body, with Jesus as the head of the Church. We're all going to make mistakes. You know, also IMHO I believe Jesus isn't as interested in some of the things we're so caught up in, actually. He looks at the heart. Maybe some of our mind sets are a little "off" but He's still willing to work with us all. Now THAT is really something when you stop to think about it, isn't it? So now, if someone wants to use a new symbol/icon, whatever, I might not approve, but I've come to learn, to give these things over to the Lord, and not go over board in getting upset about it, either.
So, if I've offended anyone, please accept my sincere apology, as it wasn't my intention. In fact, I'll share something that I've come to value as some really good advise that my Mother shared with me, in her early 90's :) I asked her if she was going to pass down one piece of advise for me, (that she'd learned over the years) just what would it be? She didn't have to think about it very long, either :) She said, "if there's one thing I've learned it is to just shut up. Just shut up!" LOL! Okay. Maybe I need to take her advise more often. Because both my Mother (and me!) tended to be pretty outspoken. So there you have it. Sorry.
There have been times I've wondered what part of the body of Christ I was, to be truthful with you. Maybe I'm the little toe, that when you stub it, the rest of the body screams, ouch! (big smile) But hey, we all need each other to be complete, right? And now I'll take my Mom's good advise, and remain silent for awhile :)
Have a great day in the Lord everyone!
Love,
Marge

Marge, you can't do it! You know it and so do I. But here is a very old poem that I have of a 1920's picture/poem frame. It goes like this:
A wise old owl sat in an old oak tree,
The more he heard, the less he spoke; The less he spoke, the more he heard; That wise old owl was a wise old bird!
But one of the reasons he wasn't heard much, he was asleep when everything else was awake and awake when everything else was asleep.
Lisa, I live in a territory that has lots of symbolism in everything. But then, this country was founded on a lot of the same. Our national emblem is the Eagle, our flag is complete with symbols, our history reflects it all and our Bibles are full of them also. The words used to name children, towns, countries and events are almost all symbolistic in nature. If you get too tied up with the meanings you can forget the coffee you just warmed up in the microwave. But the whole thing is you will use up all of your energy chasing the trivial instead of feasting on the solid meat of the offering. Just as an arrow represents flight to a lot of us in our speaking, to a native American it is something of power and conflict, so confusion reigns in determining what is the person trying to convey with the symbol in the first place.
God's word tells us not to get caught up in vain pursuits but to come to the full knowledge and understanding of God's words. God himself used symbols for the creation of the temple, all of the objects that went into it and also, all of the offices and functions of the priesthood. Man used their sinful natures to make craven images of the symbols. So, if the Holy Spirit convicts you of using, wearing or having these things, then don't do it. But that just might be because of a weakness an individual would have towards them.
Let me give you an illustration of one that was related to me. I was given or purchased, don't remember which, a very pretty sterling silver angel that was 3D, had a bale on it to allow me to wear it as a necklace. I took great pride in wearing it and loved the feeling of it to the point that I seldom left the house without it. I put a lot value on it in that it was an angel and I was constantly reminded that God gives us our own angelic protector when we become The Redeemed.
I was at a church service on Pentecost Sunday 1997 and it was such a wonderful service with everyone really in complete humble and surrendered submission. I had been filming the service and really had this overwhelming desire to go to the altar and pray. I had recently lost my mother and only remaining brother to cancer, I had some rough spots left over and I just wanted to enter into a place of private prayer. As I walked to the front of the church, I felt the presence of God so greatly on me that each step was like I was floating. I know I wasn't but it felt like it. About 3 feet from the altar I felt this unwelcome reminder of the angel on my neck chain. It seemed to be more important than it should have been and all of a sudden, I wanted it off of my being. When I removed it, it fell somewhere but we couldn't find it. There was such a release after it was gone and I really believe it was because I had started to place too much value and trust in Angels, rather than in God.
Now, do I have a problem with other people wearing angel jewelry? No! They can do what they want but I knew it was wrong for me and also, because of the calling on my life at that time, it was a distraction for others I came into contact with. Our attention should be on God and His Word, not on all of the things of this world. I cannot serve two masters because I will love the one and curse the other. God's word tells me that and the things we place above our relationship with God is the other master.
Be firm in your faith, pursue his purpose in your life and grab hold of Him and hang on for dear life because the rest of the story is going to be a real cliff hanger.
Love you all and have a great day
Grany
Great post, Grany!
Alesia, that is absolutely beautiful and I thank you for posting such an inspiring comment. Me heart thanks you too.
LORI, praying and believing safety for all of you and also, asking God to honor his word you have spoken out. May the storm disperse and become nothing hurtful.
DONNA, PRAY about it and then let the Holy Spirit direct you. But be happy for him being able to take part in something he places values in. I agree with Marge on the Body of Christ. I have many, many Catholic friends that I KNOW WILL BE IN HEAVEN WITH ALL OF US. How do I know this? Because they truly love and are humbly committed to Loving and serving Jesus as the Son of God and they love the Lord God with all of their heart, mind and spirit. They also love their neighbors as they love their selves. I know a lot of Baptist who can't seem to get that one right. So, just as Jesus said, there are many who are and always will be of different houses of faith. The main thing is their relationship with the Lord. Be encouraging to him.
AND PRAY!
Loving all of you as I do Jesus Christ,
Grany
We're good, the storm just skirted our neighborhood, we got some much needed rain though.
thanks God!
chrstn_crtr, Welcome to you from me! I don't know if you are new or not but your ID is new to me and that is all that matters at the present time.
THUUNDA, where you is man? Missing you but I am listening to iL Divo and enjoying every second of it. I managed to receive the DVD of their "The Promise" and oh, it is powerful and buckles my knees at the "Amazing Grace" presentation. Thank you for sharing the very existence of these four young men.
Grany, my kids bought me an Il Divo Cd for mother's day! I love it. It has both Amazing Grace and Hallelujah on it.
Who was it that first put that link on this site? Thank you
Lori, you did! I just read my comments again and I said Thuunda! I sorry! I know, me bad, big time. But the little gray cells, they are getting over worked and lazy to boot.
I love it greatly and I don't think there is anyone that I haven't shared it with since you sent it to me. My son, JC, said he loved it too and played it on his laptop and even with those rinky dink speakers it sounded great.
I think I have found my favorite songsters and they really give me a great deal of joy. My poor DJH is more of a Willy Nelson fan, so his enjoyment isn't as great but with time and the Lord helping, he will come around. Or go outside and putter.
Twinkle Toes, will you forgive my confusion just one more time? Jesus loves a cheerful forgiver you know.
Grany
Grany,
Thinking back I don't think I've felt convicted about trusting in a physical symbol of any kind. Necklace, statue, or something like that. I have a cross necklace I wear sometimes.
I don't know about your Church but the non-denominational ones I've gone to are virtually "symbol-less.) We have a large dove above the podium & that's it. The walls are blank. (Hey-maybe that's it-I've been "symbol" deprived!)
There are three flags-American, Jewish, & Christian in the front as well.
Since I'm a designer & interested in physical architecture & art-symbolism is right up my alley.
Being a designer there is a reason for every single detail I design or incorporate (from a previous design.) It's all planned and placed there for a purpose-down to the last inch.
So if I were to place a "pagan" symbol in my design-either I had no clue what it meant & just liked the looks of it-or I placed it there because I wanted to communicate a particular thought or concept.
If your a good designer then you have a reason for every single thing chosen to be put in the space. Down to color/texture/
finish/shape/size... Every visible detail possible. The entire concept is completely thought out beforehand and brought into a whole image in a three dimensional space.
So combining symbolism w/spiritual matters is really quite fascinating & am quite thankful there are Christians who feel compelled to study this avenue of spiritual warfare.
Is it the Holy Spirit who has sent them on this quest or their own inquisitive natural desires?
Is it meaningless, fruitless, & a complete waste of time? I haven't found that to be the case-at all.
But then again-I'm interested in it and have taken the time to hear what they've had to say.
But you'll really laugh at this one. My entire life I've refused to purchase any item-purse,sunglasses,pants,shirt,that has some designer's initials on it.
Even if I thought it looked cute!
So you’re right-I really do have "a thing" with it.
I allow the kids to wear shirts w/cute Jesus sayings on them but won't let them wear "Hannah Montana". Although these are not pagan symbols-walking around as a human advertising billboard (unless it's Jesus related) has no appeal when it promotes a worldly symbolic idol the kids love to get into. In fact they become more enamored w/Hannah Montana & High School Musical than Christ.
So I guess I'm a real stickler. I did buy Lorraine a pair of Hannah Montana shoes but the images were faded looking & didn't jump out at cha. I suppose I'm compelled to protect them from being drawn away from Christ & focused upon the things of the world.
I know I'll really be in for it if we're not raptured out of this world soon. There will come a point where they'll have to make their own decisions.
Great post, DF. You too, Grany, Marge and all. Welcome, chrstn_crtr.
Lisa, we aren't too far apart on our interests and yes, I do understand and know about designing and all that goes with it. I love to do artsy things and spent a great deal of money, time and effort pursuing all of it in the past. Now, I am thankful just to be able to see what the paper I am reading has to say. My favorite subject lines were still life and sea scenes. One of the things I did after a fantastic scuba dive. The things I have sold are the ones I wish I had back but there is no way of getting that done. But that is totally different than what you are talking about. Living with so many wonderful Native Indians here in Okieland, you learn real quick what is and isn't meant by even little pieces of jewelry. Conch shells were an especially catchy thing a few years back and I made a very involved beaded/silver/leather sling belt. I was so proud of it until my good friend Running Deer told me what all of those carvings and pressings meant in. I had to take it to Missouri to get rid of it. I never told them what it was all about because it wouldn't matter up there. But down here, I was a walking billboard saying all of the wrong things. LOL
A Full Gospel Church is basically a non-denominational church and the only things in the church are the pews, lights, carpet, flowers, altars, communion table, and the musical instruments. No symbols and for sure, no Christmas decorations other than the candles on the communion table. Most generally only on the night of that celebration.
Just as I like to study the original language of scriptures and customs of the times, you are interested in the purpose of certain symbols. That is why God made us each our own person and not a carbon copy of one another.
Oh,I am glad there aren't any carbon copies of me around and so should everyone else! I am kinda like Marge in that I often wonder which part of a part I am in the body of Christ. Then one day I had this feeling that I was more like a speck of dust rather than a part, and I was either coming or going back to my beginnings. That took the starch out of me real quick and what pride I had soon became more dust.
Well, Lisa, I am going to join DJH for a session of,~~~~~are up you ready for this?; CNIS on DVD's! Oh, for crying out loud! If I find out who gave him those things, I will choke them, for starters. The reason I have to watch, DJH doesn't know how to operate the DVD player controls.
Marge, don't you laugh either! When he gets tired of watching them, they are going to take flight and land at your house.

Joel's latest post:
OBAMA TO SAY IT IS TIME TO DIVIDE JERUSALEM: No, Mr. President, it’s not.
"I’m horrified by reports this morning that in his June 4th speech in Cairo, President Obama will say it is time to divide Jerusalem and make the holy city the capital of a Palestinian state."
Great posts and thank you so much for sharing your wisdom and insights!
<><
Grany,
Hey, now you're kidding about those NCIS DVDs right? Oh my goodness, ...no! Last night I saw the final episode of NCIS for this season. (sigh :) But the USA network still shows re-runs a plenty! Yikes!
Alesia,
Since we are using invisible ink, I gotta tell you something I found out today at Borders. Dan Brown has a NEW book coming out on Sept. 15th! And the title is,...The Lost Symbol. interesting.
Everyone,
I bought a new book today (quite a shock I know :) called, The Ultimate pH Solution, by Michelle Schoffro Cook, DNM, DAe. It's all about balancing your body chemistry to prevent disease and lose weight. My kinda book. Excellent information.
Enjoy the evening! And Shalom.

Marge
John McTernan's Insights,
John McTernan joins Jan to discuss judgment on America. That is a sad reality. How did it happen? What forms is it taking? A clue is the worst of the financial meltdown all happened on days correlated to U.S. activity in Israel. Also the gay agenda and abortion anger God and McTernan and Jan explain why. Is there any hope, what can you do, and how should we pray? Also commentary on overall America-Israel relations and the pressure on Israel that will be unrelenting and unprecedented.

interesting information. for my part I appreciate the aesthetics of something but beyond that don't look for deeper meanings and take things more at face value. probably why I don't get overly concerned about some of the things that bother you. My field looks at things quite differently-very cut and dried you might say. I am more aware of it oddly enough with my jewelry. to me some of them are pretty designs and pretty to look at and nothing more than that but I have become more aware that others don't see them quite in the same light so I have stopped wearing some of them. oh well. mostly I think at times I forget that I have some of them and I tend not to wear a lot of jewelry either. poor form to lose it in someone. I did lose an earring on the floor and it landed in some icky stuff so that was the end of that earring.
Lori
I so love your new picture. my way to drink coffee!

am having a biopsy on my foot today. lesion never quite went away and is sort of coming back so it needs to be biopsied. I will say however that I have a real peace about the results whatever they may be.
also
we will be attending my cousins high school graduation party this evening. we have a cash gift but I felt led to include another gift. I think the Spirit impressed on my heart that she needed a gift dealing with the Christian faith. to my knowledge despite the fact that her dad was raised in the church I don't know that she has ever been nor made any kind of confession of anything. I was praying about what to give her and we walked into Barnes and Noble and they had CS Lewis books as part of a sale and I knew then that was to be part of the gift (I was leaning more toward prophecy or Joel's books). I bought her Mere Christianity and the Screwtape Letters. Pray for this section of my family that God would lead them back to Himself.
Jib, I curse the roots of that lesion in Jesus' name. It has to dry up and fall off, it doesn't have a choice. (Matt 18:18)
You are a child of the living God. The same spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in you and has quickened your mortal body. (Rom. 8:11)
It is God's will that you prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers. (3 John 1:2)
Just as He sent angelic powers to protect and rescue your family from a catastrope at Niagra Falls, He has sent his word to heal your body. (Ps 107:20, Eph 6:12)
Speak to that "mountain" to be removed. (Matt. 17:20) It doesn't have a choice, there is no option but health for the believer who choses to accept this amazing unconditional gift. Accept no imitations! (Prov. 4:2, Hosea 4:6a)
Praying for the books to be accepted as an amazing and thoughtful gift.
Jib,
I'm agreeing with you, in prayer, that all will be well with you, in spirit/soul/body. Amen.
God is a good God,
And His goodness He will show to you.
Love,
Marge
JIB, agreeing with you, Lori, and Marge that your foot is shod with the Gospel of peace and Isaiah 52:7
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!". You are the righteousness in Christ Jesus and that foot is blessed. PERIOD, PERIOD AND END OF DISCUSSION.
Now, you have 3 witnesses agreeing with you, plus the Holy Spirit, and the Stripes of Jesus Christ.
We are all either what the scriptures tells us we are or we aren't. I am sore from sitting on a fence and I am no skimmed milk Christian Believer either. Go after the things of God and tell the Devil to head home. The heat is just right for his final abode.
Gotta get going as we didn't get up very early this morning. Yesterday was a very trying day for DJH and his nerves are kaput today.
Love you all and so thankful for each and every one of you. MAC thanks for the great links. Oh man, were they good.
Grany
OK guys & gals,
"chrstn_crtr." isn't a new person it's "Christine".
Jib,
I ended up w/the "Interior Design" field solely because my natural gift has always been art related. I didn't figure I could make enough $$ painting/drawing so it ended up going 3-Dimensional. I almost applied the creativity aspect to Advertising-but when it hit me that I had to lie about the products to sell them-well, my conscience kicked in & said-naaaa.
The way of thinking "design" did not come natural. It was trained into me in college-then applied in real life. I had the advantage of a natural 'eye' for art & how things looked pleasing together but the rest was definitely due to the schooling.
I could naturally draw anything I saw but some students could barely draw a stick figure. I was amazed by the end of year they were producing beautiful drawings-as good or better than mine.(That's when I learned that even creative gifts can be trained into you.)
We had a really great Art History teacher which was out for blood. He was from a very prestigious college (but ended up in a well respected but small private type.)& had that professor "look" to him. Most everyone hated him because he was out to whip us into shape. Even the kids who used to breeze through w/straight A's & smiles would come out crying from his class when they got their test paper's back.
Anyway-it was actually this professor who really focused on the "Historical" symbolism aspect of Art & Design. When looking at a painting how the brush strokes, color, composition, subject matter, & subtle symbolism in the painting reflected the social/political/economic attitudes of the time period & how the same themes were reflected throughout history & how to spot them. He then took what we learned from looking at a canvass & applied it 3-D into Architecture.
We would study Gothic, Renaissance, Post-Modern, and various famous buildings throughout the ages & then describe - by the details in the architecture-what was going on in the minds of the people at the time.
In the Bible when God instructs the craftsman to make things in relation to the temple we read about so much detail. There has been some revelation of why certain things were done a certain way but I bet every centimeter measurement has a meaning & a particular purpose all planned out in advance from our Master Designer.
(I realize Mr. Satan Copycat also his own "design" plans & I certainly don't want to overdue it but at least be aware of the junk he's schemed up to deceive us.)
Lisa, you're that naturally artistic kid I always wanted to be!
You have your catagory, the stick figure catagory and then my catagory... the one who couldn't even draw the straight line to make the stick figure!
Perhaps it was a result of having toast and coffee for breakfast every day growing up?
By the way, I can trace and sometimes color inside the lines.
LISA, yep! I bet you loved the whole study and I am trusting that you are pursuing it with the fervor that is represented in your genuine description. You are in the ideal place to make it a great witnessing tool also. My brother lived in the SD area for many years and also served in the US Coast Guard as a Helicopter navigator. His love of art was a great vehicle of preserving his service exploits with all of us. Great action drawings and such drama. You seem to have that same ability to drama in you. You are very blessed Lisa and rightfully so.
Don't let it go to waste but then I know you aren't.
Gotta get to work, talk to you all later.

Lori
that is too funny.
as far as this afternoon, it is a huge thing for me to be able to say that the results don't matter and that I have peace about the results before we even biopsy it.
Thanks for the prayers.
Jib,
God will meet you, on any level of Faith, you can believe Him for. Whatever you believe, believe it with all your heart/spirit, though.

Sorry everyone. I don't know why it logged my name the way it did. I noticed the picture was gone, but I didn't notice the name change! I'm trying again with this one to see what happens!
jib, prayers for all you're going through.
Campsmore the play on words is great! I loved it!
I am presently in school myself. I have an insurance company trying to apply for my disability. I figure if I get it, I only want it temporarily until I finish school. I am doing information systems. Since everything is going to computer, maybe I can get a job! It is the reason I don't post some days. Too much homework! I'm too old for this!
As for the jewelry and symbols. I make jewelry and love doing it. One year my husband and I went to Cherokee NC for vacation. There was a charm with this little Indian man playing a flute! I loved it because I use to play flute in the marching band in school, so I bought it. Of course I had to find earrings to match. A week later, on the last day of vacation, DH was releaved when I finally found them! I was ecstatic! I got home and went to work. One of the guys commented on my set and I proudly told him how my husband had helped me find them on vacation. He kindly told me it was a fertility god! Are you sure? I asked him. He would ask his wife to see. She worked for a restaurant company that used it for a logo. Sure enough, he came back the next night and fate was fixed. I pulled it off right then and there. He was shocked. "It meant so much to you! Why would you pull it off?" I explained to him that I believed in G-d of Abraham and Y'shua/Jesus and I couldn't wear another 'god' on my neck, or ears! He just shook his head! When I got home and told my DH about it, he made the observation that the cat had kittens while we were gone. "Don't wear it anymore, we don't need any more babies around here." We laughed about it, but it was a little creepy! Necklace still sits at the bottom of my jewelry box. Every time I look at it, I remember the devotion of my husband in finding the earrings.....
All this jewelry talk... Okay, I have a story (surprise, surprise)
A large bunch of us were at a local restaurant. I wanted to go wash my hands so I slipped off my wedding ring and put it in the pocket of my purse which I hung off the back of my chair. When I returned, I noticed the people at the next table left abruptly. Then we paid for our meal and left. We went to watch the Olympic torch come thru WPB (1996). That's when I remembered my ring. I opened the pocket and it wasn't there. I started freaking out. I asked my hubby if someone got into my purse. He said that it fell off the chair when I went to the restroom. When he saw it on the floor, he put my purse back on the chair never thinking anything about it.
I called the restaurant. All the employees were searching for the ring. They checked the vacuum, the safe and even tried to find the check for the table next to us, they had paid cash!
This ring started out as a solitiare and an insert ring. In 1995 I had it all made into one piece by a well known jeweler. This was as custom as you can get.
I always said that if I ever saw it on another person, I was going to rip it off their finger.
I think about how devastated I was over a ring, albeit precious, and it pales in comparison for the sacrifice of God's son for my sins.
I have to try to keep that in mind when I think about the loss.
LORI, you will get it back you know! Ask God to restore it to you and then just believe. I have had to do that so many times involving different types of items and God, well, he always comes through.
When my mother passed into heaven, we had exactly 15 business days to present her CD's or they would automatically roll over at a much lower rate. We needed them to pay for the funeral and medical expenses. I could not remember where she had told me they were filed. My daughter was here and I asked her to join me in petitioning God for revelation of the documents. She looked at me kinda funny, said OK, then we prayed. We were both sound asleep when she woke me up, said "Momma, I know where they are". She hadn't been told by my mother but she knew exactly where to go. As we pulled them out of the storage place, I asked her, how did you know? She said she was dreaming about Grandma, and in the dream her Grandma pointed at the place and said "bottom drawer". That was the end of the dream but the beginning of my daughter believing with all of her heart GOD HEARS and she has no problem believing he will bring it to pass.
Pray Lori, and I will join you in it.
Grany
God restores rings! My husband I am married to is my second. My first had a love for other women! My second has been a treasure! He bought me a beautiful engagement ring! It's a 1/2 carat, but it might as well be 10! Just to know he cared enough to do it for me means everything! Anyway, about 2 weeks after I got it, I lost it! I was so devasted and so fearful when I had to tell himl! He was so understanding and told me that he wouldn't want the responsibility of wearing something like that! I cried and prayed! I know it sounds a little way out there but one day I was sitting on the bathroom throne, totally devastated and totally praying. I looked down at my bathroom trashcan and noticed some plastic wrapper sticking up out of the can. I remembered I had cleaned the sink off that night and had swept the trash off with my hands into the can. I started digging through the trash and found the rest of the wrapper. It was a piece of clear cellophane that had wrapped a cd and I had pulled the cd out of it. The ring was stuck to it! Apparently, when I swept the trash off the sink, the ring had stuck to the "sticky stuff" on the cellophane! I was ecstatic! God can bring that ring back to you! Just keep praying! and make a police report! The more eyes you have looking for it, the better!

The Victory of God’s Word
Getting on Top of Things
“The counsel (Word) of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.” Psalms 33:11
So, if God has in His Word revealed to us the very “thoughts of his heart,” why then should we be without His wisdom when dealing with the naysayers? Why should any true believer – one who is born of God – ever be intimidated by a mere mortal (or many of them)?
“I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass.” Isaiah 51:12
It will be wise for us to get informed and deeply rooted in the knowledge of God so that we are never put back on our heals by sinful men when the opportunity arises to speak the Word. Being empowered by His Holy Spirit and equipped with God’s pure Word is essential to effective ministry. This is why the lack of quality exists today among those who lead – they do not have God’s Word memorized. – “Let thine heart retain my words.” (Prov. 4:4)
What are we to communicate? Should we make up our own philosophy(ies)? Should we follow tradition? No!
Listen with your heart to what Paul instructed Timothy to do:
“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.” 2 Timothy 4:2
The believer in Jesus is to allow the LORD to speak for Himself by giving answer from His Word alone. The true disciple should decide that from this moment forward, he is going to honor the LORD by allowing the words He gave us to speak to men’s hearts. He should resolve never to concoct, philosophy, or make up an answer, but rather communicate the very words of the LORD verbatim (which makes it essential to memorize):
PART 2:
“If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God …” 1 Peter 4:11
Holy Writ is always alive and is always the right Word, in season, out of season, and fitly spoken. “ALL things that pertain unto life and godliness” are contained therein (2 Pet. 1:3-4). The written Word is “the MORE sure word of prophecy.” (2 Pet. 1:19-21)
“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.” Proverbs 25:11
In the last 8 months there have been 3 people who have sought to aggressively “evangelize” me into the New Age movement. Satan might just be too late for that lol – by God’s grace! Love it! God be praised for these opportunities He grants to each of His people, for the message of Christ – the very Gospel Himself – to be put forth! The LORD is in the business of seeking after, convicting, drawing, and saving eternal souls – the ones He came and bled to redeem (ALL men).
“This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.” 1 Timothy 1:15
We should always view these occasions as opportunities and burdens, even though some come as attacks. When we are possessed by the very reason Christ came – to save these very people – we will face these situations and seeking souls with a welcoming disposition of peace, love, and joy. Oh, and perhaps a smile. By God’s grace, those 3 people who confronted me with their New Age type message, were highly rocked by the very peace of the “Prince of Peace” they encountered (Isa. 9:6-7). The LORD is gracious! Remember that lost souls have no peace because only coming to Christ to be saved will yield the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23).
“There is NO peace saith my God to the wicked.” Isaiah 57:21
“Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.” Psalms 119:165
“Great peace” is only granted by the LORD to those who “love” His “law” or words. That peace becomes a witness. The Study of God’s Word must cease to be an afterthought. There will be no personal victory outside of being engrossed in the Word. Personally knowing the Scriptures must become the very goal of one’s life and the quest that begins in our very waking moment!
“Thy words were found, and I did eat (devour) them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.” Jeremiah 15:16
How is “the joy of the LORD” which “is your strength,” ever going to fill our hearts and empower us until we fill our hearts and minds with it? The Bible says that “the joy of the LORD is your strength” and so your whole being in going to be infused with divine strength as you ingest God’s words, taking them into your heart, mind, and memory (Neh. 8:10).
How can we expect to have the faith of Job, to worship God no matter what, be fruitful, and sustain such testings and injustice, if we don’t love the LORD and therefore His words, as did Job?
“Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.” Job 23:12
Understand that you, as a blood-bought Christian, are on the immutable foundation of Christ, so that you can speak from a position of peace and soundness as your life in founded upon the only Rock. He is all in all. You are complete in Christ, rooted and grounded in His love, and therefore able in His joy to sustain any and all inquiries and attacks from those not yet apprehended of Him (Col. 2:6-10).
The victory to be saved, please God, abide in Christ, flourish in Him, and minister His truth, all come from the Word – in the person who is in the Word. The Word gets into us as we get into it. And, as a result, we are made ready/prepared to give answer to the wonders of His love.

Law & Order has some propaganda segment on tonight about some gay guy who wants to get married then a shot of an evangelical preaching about homosexuality as sin.
Insinuating that the Preacher is narrow minded & brainwashed of course.
Today was rather humorous. I went w/the girls to the bike shop so Lorraine could try out a Mountain Bike.
The male store owner helped us so as we were wheeling out the bike to the back alley for her to test out- Melanie looks at the guy & asks him.
"Why do YOU wear earrings?" He says "because I like them." (He’s got in two small thin gold hoops.)
Then she sees a silver/red ring on his pinky finger. "Why do you have a ring on? Are you married?"
He replies-"Well it's something like getting married."
It was at that point I realized the man was most likely gay. I tell you she never let up on the guy. She hounded him until the moment we left. I think he was relieved!
Israeli Arabs blast plan for PA to cede Temple Mount sovereigntyThe northern branch of the Islamic Movement blasted Thursday a proposal for the Palestinian Authority to relinquish sovereignty over the Temple Mount in exchange for international Islamic control of the site...
...Palestinian sources have said the PA would accept the management of the site by the Saudi-based Organization of Islamic Conference, whose 57 member states include Iran, as part of a final-status peace agreement.
Shalom, all! Haven't had time to keep up with the postings. Wanted to post something that my daughter's boyfriend showed me that it never occurred to me to look for. YouTube has a bunch of "banned cartoons". These are cartoons that I remember seeing when I was growing up but are too politically incorrect now. This may be because they're propaganda cartoons from WW2, or because they're racist by today's standards. It's an interesting look at history. The one that made me think of all of you is Three Little Pigs - American WWII Propaganda. Two of the pigs are convinced that Adolf Wolf won't invade, because they have a treaty signed by him saying he won't invade. Remind you of anyone? There's also a Disney cartoon called Walt Disney Cartoon - Hitler's Children Education For Death and a banned cartoon of Betty Boop Minnie the Moocher with Cab Calloway.
Enjoy!

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to say "hi". I am enjoying the posts and come here everyday to see what is new. I don't have much time to post, I have been working outdoors on my new garden. I have never done a garden before and asked the Lord to help me with it. Got the prairie grasses dug out and the land turned, manure added, staked it all out and a fence put up to keep the critters out. I just put the last seed in yesterday. Praying that God will bless it and bring forth alot of veggies for our family!
So, a different subject...
I was getting confused abvout church again. I had found one that I liked (it is in a neighboring town) but did not go for a few weeks due to family stuff. I visited my old Methodist church here in our small town just last week thinking that maybe I should just take the kids to that one since it is here in town and it is so community oriented. We had not been there for about 9 months. People were happy to see the kids. Well, the Pastor made absolutley no sense to me at all. Nor my daughters when we spoke about the sermon. He used the parable of the wheat and the weads to talk about brainstorming and thinking outside the box. He read the parable and told us that the farmer had come up with an idea by brainstorming and thinking outside the norm and allowed the weads to grow with the wheat. He did not go on to read what Jesus had said the meaning of the parable was except to say that the enemy who planted the weads was the devil. I was confused about that for a few days. Then, the pastor of the church I had been visiting the month before (which I liked but it is out of town) just happened to stop by our house to chat. I wanted to know if he was awake and aware of what is going on in the world so I asked him his opinion. He shares the same setiments that I do that we are nearing the end and that things are happening much more frequently now. Seems that my visiting the cute little Methodist church here in town again confirmed that we are actually not supposed to be going there. God always answers and guides, it was neat to see how He did so this time for me. Hope that story wasn't too confusing!
My DH has made it two weeks without smoking! He has had to use some chewing tobacco (I know, gross)in order to not go nuts but he is fazing that out. And, he has not been a grouch that he ahs been in the past whenever he stopped smoking. I am really proud of him and thank the Lord for His help in this.
I think that I am going to have to quit my job. I have been working at David's Bridal and it paid very well for the first 4 months (commission) but now it seems that I have no time for this job with my kids schedules! Poor DH is too worn out in the evening to care for the kids too. I have had to call in to work several times just cause I have family commitments. Plus, last Friday when I was at work there were horrible storms coming through and flooding, tornadoes, hail. I was at work and DH was home with the kids and I felt horrible for not being there! My boys were very scared and wanted their mommy! My DH does not want me to work. Plus, not so many sales anymore. Feel like lots of different confirmations that I am not suppose to be working ,anymore for now at least.
I feel so blessed by the Lord lately, He takes such care of us! Guiding me as a wife and mom, I have always asked for His help in those areas especially! What an awsome Lord we have!
Diana
Diana,
May God bless the fruits of your labor! Grow garden, grow!!!
How exciting for DH, it sounds like he's doing well.
You keep listening to God. For years I let the world make me feel like cr_p for not working outside my home. Then I realized that my home was my job and that my DH and children were my first priority.
This is not just my job, it's my mission field.
You'll never regret the position.
Hyde, Shalom! I agree. That cartoon is VERY offensive! I've put it on the playlist I keep of things I shouldn't watch, to make sure I don't watch it again!
Seriously, Robert Louis Stevenson was what we would call today, a "cokehead", i.e., he was a cocaine user. (This would not be unusual or case for comment at the time -- cocaine was coming into popular medical use, he was an invalid, and "Coca-Cola" was coming into popular use in America.) The novella "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" is a spot-on description of the changes a cocaine addict goes through in the development and execution of his (or her) addiction. The 1931 film version with Frederic March is considered one of the best (if not THE best) adaptation; however, there was a version made in the early 20's that is considered to be more powerful. Unfortunately, that version is never seen anymore because of the strong racist content.
Those who are interested in the case of churches who preach prosperity might be interested in learning that it is not a new phenomenon. I refer you to Stevenson's "AN OPEN LETTER TO THE REVEREND DR. HYDE OF HONOLULU" (1890). You can find both the letter of Dr. Hyde (the Presbyterian bishop of Honolulu, no relation to the character) who wrote a less-than-favorable letter to a magazine about Fr. Damien; and Stevenson's reply at Wellesnet.

Diana,
As you already know- DANGER ZONE-
"He read the parable and told us that the farmer had come up with an idea by brainstorming and thinking outside the norm and allowed the weads to grow with the wheat."
Thinking "outside the box" will be thinking "outside of the Bible" (And Christ) not far from now. Sounds like he's been listening to Joel Olsteen or Rick Warren!

LIsa, when I read that article, all I could think about was China and what the believers go thru to worship. The author does end up mentioning China afterall.
So sad, this will end up costing the Pastor and wife money. If I were a lawyer, I'd find a way to represent them for free.
Then, I'd countersue for harrassment, violating civil liberties, and all court costs. I'm sure I'm missing some other valid charges as well.
This kind of thing should not be happening in our country.
I remember the original "V" miniseries. I like the way they've developed this one, with the obvious suppression of religious liberty, where the Visitors take the place of G_D.
Looks to be fun.

Lisa, I couldn't quite put my finger on what was disturbing me so much about that sermon. I knew that there was something not right about it. My oldest daughter pointed out that he pulled a story from the bible to back up or go along with his agenda in his sermon. She always surprises me with her insite. You know who else does that alot right now? Boo. He likes to quote the bible and Jesus himself to go along with whatever thing he happens to be pushing that day. I think that the Lord allowed me to go visit that church one more time just to confirm what I had feared months ago and remind me of why I left in the first place!
Lori, thanks for the word of encouragement. My manager at work said to let her know by monday what I wanted to do about my job. I need to pray about if I should stay on 15 hours a week during the summer during day hours and have my mom watch the kids. In the fall Isaac starts kindergarten and I will have to be home by 3 to get him. that does not leave much time for work when the store opens at 11!

Were the measurements in the Great Pyramid thought out in advance to represent or communicate something?
Shalom, Lisa! I can see where the county is coming from. The rules were probably drafted back in the 90's, when the growth of "megachurches" across the country lead to churches growing in ways that weren't always friendly to the neighbors. My guess is that someone back then developed regulations about "religious assemblies" to regulate any megachurches in the area without specifying the SIZE of the religious assembly. The problems back in the 90's came from church neighbors who had churches go from 150 people once a week on Sunday to 600 people Sunday morning, at least that many Sunday night, with more services on Wednesday night, plus teen night, committee meetings, etc. Suddenly, you can't park in front of your own house anymore most days of the week. And so, ordinances about "religious assemblies" were created. Not a problem at first, because they were only applied to the big(ger) churches.
However, if the ordinances didn't put any size restrictions in there (as in, these apply only to religious assemblies of over 100 people; or, these apply only to buildings at least 5000 square feet), then you have a problem. It could be one of their neighbors complained because once a week every week strangers were parking in front of their houses for some religous meeting down the street. Someone checked and found that the ordinances from the 90's were still on the books, with no limits for sizes, etc.
To me, this isn't dangerous so much for the actual charges against pastor and his wife. This won't pass the muster in any US court. What will happen is the courts will force the county (and local governments across the country) to re-think and re-write these ordinances. Rather than discarding them, they'll start putting restrictions in them, so that (for example) a religious assembly in an area zoned for single family dwellings can have no more than 5 people (not counting the original inhabitants). Multiple-family dwellings (apartments or condos) will be limited by their landlords or condo associations. Which will mean only two things:
Bridge tournaments and potlucks.
Contrary to what some people believe, bridge is not a religion. While you may be able to have only 5 guests over for a "religious assembly", a bridge tournament can have 16 or 20 people. Likewise, a "potluck club", where everyone brings over something new they've cooked, can be more than 5 people. If the meeting place can be rotated among the members, all the better. It's harder for neighbors to complain when the meetings take place once every few months. (If they REALLY wanted to hide in plain sight, they wouldn't do bridge, they'd do Texas hold'em poker. It would not be unheard of to sing about "gathering at the river" or to hear the occasional "Hallelujah!" when someone draws a royal flush.)

Jim, are the wild mushrooms still popping up in your neck of the woods?
Lisa, I have a purpose for everything in my house and this is the reason, CAUSE. Cause I like it and we don't mess with what I like. I have a red throw pillow I love and that is the cause. My lamps are cause also. I also have a computer in my kitchen, cause. One in the patio room, yep, cause; one in Jim's office cause it keeps him off of mine; one in my bedroom cause I want it there. I don't have one in my frontroom cause we go in there to watch NCIS, and my laptop is put away in the library, cause I don't like it. So, they all have a purpose don't you think.
Oh, and I have a memory foam pillow in my recliner cause my back hurts and it supports my derriere. When I was young I wasn't as particular as I am now!

saw the Star Trek movie btw. interesting. It was kind of spooky watching all new people do old roles when they really captured the physical essence of the characters so well with the casting decisions. Also in the running for Cannes honors are Austrian Michael Haneke for "The White Ribbon," his somber study of a troubled German village on the eve of World War I; British director Andrea Arnold for "Fish Tank," a portrait of a bold teenager stuck in a dreary working-class home life; and Palestinian Elia Suleiman's "The Time That Remains," a semi-autobiographical love letter to his parents that chronicles the family's experiences under Israeli occupation since 1948.I hope I'm wrong but I bet that last film wins and gets all the attention. I have to admit, I haven't seen it but the reference to "Israeli occupation" reveals a bias.

Comparisons between this economic recession and the Great Depression,
Two things come to mind.
(1) The huge increase in the money supply by the Federal Reserve is a bad thing, not a good thing. It creates inflationary pressures (devalues the dollar).
(2) The figures would be somewhat comforting if this whole economic crisis was almost over. I think we're just at the tip of the iceberg though.
I'll be heading up to the Seattle area later today with my wife and son to visit some dear friends and a dear elderly aunt who is in an assisted living home in Kirkland. She is absolutely in love with Jesus and looking forward to seeing Him soon.

I don't know if this is significant or not. I think it was Roh Moo-hyun (you might want to double check) that Prophesy in the News reported on Monday. They said there was a report via 3rd source @ the Annapolis Convention that Moon spoke harshly against Israel & the US. Then on Tuesday JR. Church apologized that their source may have been bogus because he couldn't find it on the UN site. Then on Wed/Th he found out that it was indeed on the UN site but that the Govt. had pulled Moon's statements since.

Grany, the Meta Tauta article was very interesting. Took me a long time to read it, but some of the quantum physics stuff my DH and I have been discussing lately. He's not ready to see this yet though, I think he would reject it.
So, do you have a manual coffee grinder? I only have electric and have pondered how I'm going to smash those little beans if we lose the grid. I have a good, heavy rolling pin and that would be more efficient than a hammer, I think. I've thought of buying an antique grinder because...well, cuz it would look nice hanging on my wall and could be useful someday. Maybe I could just eat the beans whole. Covered in chocolate, of course.

You know what faith will do when it is placed in God and His word. Victory in Jesus! And that spells conquest over evil.
ANNE, you could take a shingling hammer and place a clean cloth over it or better still, get a pastry cloth and put it over a bunch of the beans and whack 'em. I use a French Press coffee pot that has a filter cone and it is good. I finally found this way to make my coffee that tastes good everytime. Can't go the electric pots anymore because of their size. We only make four cups every morning and sometimes we have it left over. Did you know that coffee makes a great way to marinate tough beef? I found it out by accident one day when I thought I was getting the Worcestershire sauce and by adding my own spices it was excellent. Got our caffeine and protein at the same time. One of the things I would recommend having in supply is aluminum foil in the heavy duty strength. If you have to use wood to cook with, it does wonderful things to help prevent burning. Mosquitoes do not like orange and lemon scents and you can keep the rinds in an airtight jar buried in the ground for quite a while. Repellent will be very welcome in those areas where there is a problem.

Lori, I've tried both Pepsi Throwback and Mountain Dew Throwback. For those who don't know, "Throwback" uses cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. It's the way it was made "way back when" (as in, I remember when Pluto was a planet.)
With my first sip, I was taken back several decades. It has a throat feel that modern pop just doesn't have.
And as for "marinade", trust me: the acid in your stomach is 100 times stronger than the acid in the Coke.

The Council of Europe Founded on 5 May 1949Interesting note: In the Hebrew calendar it was founded one year and one day after the independence of Israel (Israel: 5 Iyar, 5708; COE: 6 Iyar, 5709). Viewed another way, the COE was founded one year after the Arab countries declared war on Israel.
Also, while making sure I had my Hebrew dates right, I ran across a mention of the Shehecheyanu blessing, which was pronounced over Israel's Declaration of Independence. This led me to a site called "Virtual Cantor", which has MP3 files of all these different prayers and blessings in Hebrew. Wonderful!

Lisa, thanks for the links! It will give me more to read! I haven't seen the throwback drinks here yet. I hope they come....As for taxing the churches, I had been thinking for awhile that was going to happen. They asked for the books on some of the largest televangelist. They were ordered to let the government see them under the guise they were, "checking to make sure the money was being spent the way it was suppose to be." I thought when it happened that the government is just wanting to see how much money they don't have their hands in! Now it looks like it is true.
So much for all those talks and "negotiations" with N Korea. Bush is gone and the rats come out to play.
Let America Be America Again
Christine, shalom! I remember that scandal, or series of scandals. There was talk of filing criminal charges against up to 10 megachurches for misappropriation of funds. The church leaders opened the books in order to keep from going to prison. All but one of the churches made changes in how they disbursed funds. The tenth church was found to have not done anything wrong.
I believe it was because of this scandal that the ECFA -- the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability -- gained strength. It had started back in 1979, but it didn't become a force to be reckoned with until after this scandal.
I'm glad some good came out of the scandal. I am glad more churches are accountable. I just believe that under the surface the government was looking at the books so they could get an idea how much money these large churches made, so they could figure out a way to get their hands on some of it! Anyway, the message you left made me think about it again. I am sure it is coming to all of the churches!

#3. Same train was coming & there were many cars in front of us. The train veered off the tracks and it decimated the passenger cars in front of us. I got out & there was twisted metal & carnage all over. Legs, arms, body parts & then I saw someone's head w/a chunk missing out of the face. Really gruesome.
well my shift of solitude is almost over. yeaaaa. 7 am there will be another of the department back in town.
I have sort of been reading here.

about that article. It was consistently logical with his espoused opinions. having said that however I think he is doing what he has accused those who don't hold his opinions of doing-interpreting scripture in the light of their bias instead of what the scripture actually says. His biggest problem has been that he believes that Islam is the one world religion and going to take over the world. a fulfillment of Ps 83, Is 17 and Ez 38-39 would argue against that unless of course one comes up with the interpretation that Gog is the AC and that those battles are all the same battle. I think others have established quite well that Gog/Magog and Armageddon are not equivalent at all yet he is now insisting that they are. It's a long reach I think to insist that they are all the same battle and that the AC is Gog (I don't think the actual context of Ez lends itself to that interpretation) but if one thinks that Islam is going to take over the world and be the one world religion and government the AC would have to be Gog and all the battles would have to be the same battle. His arguments are now at least internally consistent but remain flawed. I think much more than LaHaye and Ice he is far more guilty of trying to squeeze scripture into his mold and interpretation.

I never did get to listen to the olive tree link that I think you posted but find it very interesting that they had Richardson on the same day as McTernan. Just finished reading his last book-As America has done to Israel. interesting book. I don't agree with many of his conclusions however-not necessarily regarding the weather and judgment (although I do think he was reaching on at least one or two and found in interesting that he completely glossed over the US not taking that boatload of Jewish refugees with no judgment happening for that, at least non that he mentions). I was rather horrified to read that he considers anyone who believes in covenant theology (which would essentially cover the major protestant denominations and catholics) is damned to hell and not going to heaven. He also feels that if you aren't actively awaiting the Lord's return as prescribed by pretrib rapture philosophy that you aren't going to heaven either. he actually doesn't address the various mid trib, pre wrath etc but does note that he does not feel preterists are true Christians either and are damned to hell. He also feels that unless you are actively watching for the rapture to happen you are damned to hell also. I also found his timeline for the battles of Is 17, Ps 83 and Ez 38-39 suspect and not what I have read and understand a general timeline to be. He also has the strangest interpretation of the day of the Lord that I've ever seen. He has no context at all for the battles and just lifts them out of scripture without their context. Most folks place the destruction of Iraq and Babylon at the end of Revelation as part of or just preceding Armageddon. Since he has no context with the battles it is difficult for me to tell when he thinks that is. I would note that he thinks it is America that completely destroys Iraq which to me would place this at the beginning of the Trib time (a period he doesn't actually comment on) if one holds to the opinion/belief that the AC will rule from Babylon. He as much admits that the US needs to decrease in pre-eminence but again it's all a little fuzzy. Following this is Ps 83/Is 17, the Gog and then Armageddon. The one thing I did take away that I thought was fairly reasonable and had a lot of merit was the order of the battles due to geography. Ps 83 are the nations closest to Israel. That war may only leave the mountains to the north as the only way into the country. The war of Gog are the nations which are islamic but a little further away. Armageddon is the whole world but especially the kings of the East. The order is certainly logical even if I disagree with the time line. I also have an issue with examining the battles without context of the what is going on in the world.
Jib, I know nothing of McTernan other than having listened to the interview. Any belief that not watching for a pre-trib rapture or the Lord’s soon coming etc somehow invalidates one’s entry into heaven is way out of line (heretical?). What about witnessing and spreading the Gospel? I know of two other pretribbers who hold this view and I think it’s both disgraceful and misguided. Mind you, I’ve come across so much garbage from non-pretribbers claiming similar things about pretribbers.
I knew that Jan interviewed Joel Richardson and listened to most of it. He’s a good speaker. I had a chuckle when he plugged David Pawson who is another posttribulationist. I’m surprised he didn’t plug R H Gundry as well. One the first books I read addressing eschatology was Pawson’s “When Jesus Returns”. At the time I was actually leaning post-trib but I found Pawson’s anti-pretrib arguments pretty superficial.
So your message is caveat emptor on McTernan! Done!
Persecution – bring it on!

A heavenly vision
After I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white and held palm branches in their hands. And they were shouting with a mighty shout, "Salvation comes from our God on the throne and from the Lamb!" Revelation 7:9-10 NLT
Heavenly praise for the Lamb
Many times our prayers tend to focus on this world and the struggles we encounter in our lives. God understands and accepts these prayers, but we must also direct our thoughts and prayers to the victory we will share with Christ. In Revelation, God gives us a splendid portrayal of that final victory. In a vision, the apostle John sees a magnificent scene: a vast multitude celebrating the triumph of the Lamb of God. Waving palm branches, the traditional symbol of victory, people from all over the world extol God for the salvation he had provided through his Son.
As followers of Christ, today, we are privileged to be part of this multitude—the communion of believers. Because Jesus has overcome death, a new life of wholeness and peace through him has opened up to us. This is worth shouting about—praising God with all that is in us!
A prayer for today…
Dear Lord, I join your praying people through the ages to shout about that salvation that comes from you…
The weather has been sooo nice around here lately! We've been busy outside doing all sorts of things, inlcuding planting basil, lettuce and parsley and flowers.
HOpefully all is well with you all!
Joining you all in prayer in waiting for His return and offering ourselves as living sacrifices for Him to use as He pleases until then!

If you haven't visited Mac's other blog, today's a good day to start. Several interesting articles.
Donna, I'm trying my hand at growing fruits and vegetables for the first time this year, oh I did it once before about 30 years ago but can't remember a thing. I have a new appreciation for the price of lettuce...it is hard to grow! I would like to put up a fence to keep away the rabbits and deer, but I'm on my own with this and don't think I can put in the posts. So far, prayer has kept them away! Maybe that's a better fence than the chicken wire?
My sister-in-law, Miyuki, works for World Bank. They just sent her to Senegal and she arrived there today. I'm not sure why they sent her, other than she speaks several languages.
Please keep her in your prayers for her safety as well. Miyuki is a Christian.
As per the garden, a natural pesticide we use is marigolds. The rabbits cannot stand the smell of them! We use to have two of the cutest little rabbits playing in our backyard. Cute, but dangerous to a garden! I didn't want to use a pesticide and I had heard that, before pesticides, they use to plant marigolds all around the garden. We tried it and it worked!
I have an interesting link to share. You have to skip a few paragraphs because this person is somewhat irrate with someone apparently taking his research, however, if you skip those paragraphs and get to the meat, he has some very interesting things to say. Can't say I agree with all of them, a lot of things we won't know until they happen, but interesting. grailcode websiteLisa, as for your dream, it reminded me of the Psalm 91:7 a thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. It appeared that whatever calamity happened, you were kept safe!

Oh, brother, I think I shouldn't have drank the whole pot of coffee. That comment was for Mac's Gog/Magog site. sorry guys
Jib,
Your book review "As America has done to Israel." has cured me of wanting to read that one.
Who is this guy to say "who's" saved & "who's" not ? So, someone doesn't agree 100% w/the same theology & this makes them unsaved & unrighteous through Christ?
I never read that in the Bible.
We hear of a "special blessing" for those who long to see Christ's return. I doubt this means raptured & saved as being a special blessing. Being saved is an awesome blessing of course-but this alludes to something additional to that.(Perhaps a crown? or ?) If you are left on earth in the rapture-then @ that point you weren't saved to begin with.
This guy needs to just stick with what he can determine from God's Word & stop injecting his own ideas into salvation. I wonder if it's Pride which causes someone to go to such an extreme view?
We have a great reference as to how God views a Church/individual in the 7Churches of Revelation. They are all different but Jesus tells us what is acceptable & what is not. Even in a wayward Church/Theology there was still "some" who were saved.
It all comes down to one's heart condition & only He can read those.
I liked David Servant's lastest articles on Salvation BC & AD.
"So what is the real point of this e-teaching? If we understand how God has been saving people from the beginning, we are less apt to misunderstand how He is saving them now."
Salvation BC & AD Part TwoI posted this one before but he says make sure you read part 1 before you go onto Part 2 Salvation BC & AD Part 1**I don't think Servant is Pre-Trib either but I still like the guy. (:
David Servant also mentions this:

**I haven't looked into it yet but it looks like a great idea!

Why brothers should not write cover letters for one another.
My older son just wrote this for my younger son:
He hasn't seen it yet, tell me what you think of it.
My name is ______ _______ and I’m 17 years of age. I am currently working on getting my GED, but that should not interfere with my getting a job. I am enjoy smooth jazz, I love long walks on the beach, and I like to color! My brother is the best thing ever to happen to this family, and he is down right gorgeous, I wish I was just like him. I have several guns, and if you don’t give me the job I’ll “give you and offer you can’t refuse” and we’ll see how it goes from there. I’m in love with my left toe but it’s already in a relationship with a parrot named Pasquale. I have helped birth a zebra. I am made of ham and ginger bread. And I can run a half mile wearing a spandex shirt and puffy shorts....or is it the other way around? Anyways, I love sheet metal it’s been my dream since I was born to work with sheet metal. I sleep with metal sheet’s instead of linen, and I use steel wool toilet paper. Please hire me, I feel I most qualified for it and I hope for it to be the beginning of a wonderful career, (that and my parents will beat me and force feed me severed Barbie heads dipped in guacamole if I don’t.)
LORI, He is hired and so is Addison.
Now I have to find the right position for him and that is going to take some preventive measures also.

I have to tell you all that I stepped into the new world around noon today, Okie time. I was innocently checking my email and received a pop up message telling me someone very special desired to chat with me. So, I typed in a hurried response and walla, the chat was on. Now that isn't the new step but this next one is. She then asked me about video/talk capabilities and if I had done any of that. I replied I have a webcam but I really didn't know much about it yet. So, with that, I turned on the webcam and started typing. Then Lori said, I can see you and I laughed, talking as I started to type and she said "I can hear you too". Well, I entered into the wild kingdom of video chat and it was great. She didn't have the video yet but when we closed the chat session, she said "gotta get one" and I agree. But wouldn't it be great fun to have all of us doing the same thing and actually as a group (which Google does have) getting to talk to each other live and in color. I would love that and if any of you other loving bloggers have the web cam speak up now or forever hold your peace. Or at least send me an email message. Alesia has my email address and I am authorizing her to share when she has the time.
But my chat was the most exciting thing that has happened to me this day and you know from that statement that I must live a very quiet life. YAHOOOOO!
Grany
I have webcam capability
Believe you me Grany, it was my pleasure! My family had so much fun watching and listening to your voice. It was great to see your face.
I look forward to getting a cam and microphone.
I guess I need to do some research?
Mac, It's not so bad here, except Mr. Hyde keeps putting his finger in my coffee to sweeten it! I keep telling him, honey and soy, honey and soy!
Can I bribe him with a little chocolate or something?
Lori, mac has just taken me to task. Chocolate coming up...
Also the new post!
Sorry...that should be, honey and soy coming up!
READING FROM THE BOTTOM UP,
LORI, my web cam came with the microphone/receiver all in it. I was told that some of the newer video cams will also work but I took the easy route. I got so excited that you could see and hear me I forgot what I was doing. It doesn't take much to get me excited anymore.
LOL!@;O}
Can you guys imagine what would happen to the whole world if we could all have the web cams and share Jesus with the unbelievers, then encourage and build one another up in the faith so that deception couldn't get into the door. Of course, we could also see the faces of those who would dare to disagree with us also.
Not that we disagree with one another. No way!
Chocolate and honey works for me but then I am easy to please.
Now that I have given you all something to grin about, I will catch up and then go to the new page.
