I was in the Christain bookstore a couple weeks ago tying to decide on a new Greek Translation Bible.
The first one I opened-went straight to 1Thes 4. So I read the entire chapter.
After I picked out another one to buy I went back to the origional and opened it once again. It opened straight to that page again and my eyes straight to 1Thes 4:17.
(That made me buy both of them!)
Then to test it out-just in case it would naturally happen to open to that page I tried it a couple times at home-but nope. It's really a crisp new book w/o a worn out spot in it.
It's a tired old world we live in. I think I can hear His footsteps.

A day of reward
There are as many ways to look at the return of Jesus as there are opinions about how it will happen.…To the Romans, Paul calls is the "day of God's wrath" (Romans 2:5).…In his first letter to the Corinthians, Paul refers to it as the "day of the Lord" (1 Cor. 5:5). And in his second letter to the same church he calls it the "day of salvation" (2 Cor. 6:2).…To the Ephesians he calls it a "day of redemption" (Eph. 4:30). And he encourages the church of Philippi to stand strong until the "day of Christ Jesus" (Phil. 1:6). Jude doesn't even try to describe it—he just calls it the "great Day" (Jude 1:6).
Each of these phrases suggests a unique and different view.…But there's one I like the best. For followers of Jesus, it will be a day of reward.
James tells us, "God blesses the people who patiently endure testing. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him: (James 1:12).…In his second letter to Timothy [Paul says], "Now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness that the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that great day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his glorious return" (4:8).
But it is Jesus himself who puts it best: "Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven" (Matt. 5:12). As Christians, we have a lot to look forward to!

I finished reading a very interesting book called "Cloak of the Antichrist" by Jack Smith a couple of weeks ago. Jack and I have emailed back and forth several times since I read his book. He seems like a great guy. His book hasn't actually been published yet, as he is still working on it. You can download the pdfs for all 9 chapters individually at the following link:

This is the most interesting book I have read in quite awhile. I wanted to write a summary of the book and post in on this blog instead of just posting a link to the book, but it doesn't look like I will ever get the time to do that. So...I will instead mention one of the highlights of the book. Jack Smith thinks the Whore of Babylon is Saudi Arabia. When I first read that, I thought he was way off. However, Jack makes an excellent case for it.
I have thought for some time that the Whore of Babylon was the Catholic Church (my apologies Jim for mentioning the Catholic Church again) :-). However, I think the case Jack presents for Saudi Arabia is stronger. I encourage everyone to read this book. I learned a lot from it and it is free after all. Jack does an excellent job of tracing through the history of Islam.

Thanks for the tip about the posts. I will have to go back and check it out and let the Grumpster know. Unless you were talking about the comment you posted (three comments back about the Day of the Lord), which was also very good.
As for your iPod, you can only sync it with one iTunes library at a time. I always get my wife to sync my iPod with the iTunes library on your Mac book. She has 6 Gig worth of good stuff in that library. Whenever she fires up iTunes, it automatically syncs and downloads all the latest podcasts from the podcast sites that she has subscribed to.
I also have iTunes on my desktop, but there is not much in the library. When I plug my iPod into my desktop to recharge instead of my wife's Mac book, iTunes wants to also sync the library. I always have to cancel out of this because the crappy iTunes library on my desktop will overwrite the good library I have on my iPod with the crappy one if I don't cancel it.

Todd Bentley: The Culmination of the False Charismatic Revival

"The Charismatic world has been full of the false from its inception. Being a Classical Pentecostal for fifty-six years has given me the privilege and heartache of watching their development. While no great movement of God goes without attacks from within and without, the Pentecostal revival that started in 1906 has touched tens of millions around the world. The Charismatic deception was planned by the enemy, Lucifer, to infiltrate and destroy the Pentecostal churches. It has almost totally accomplished that for which it was intended. It is an unquestionable fact that good, undiscerning, born-again believers have been unwittingly involved.
Three things that were a part of its inception were based on utterly false premises. Doctrines, the established heart of fundamental truth, was ignored and even belittled. It didn’t matter if you were Catholic in doctrine, even Jesus Only, Mormon, or held any other theological position. Every doctrinal idea was accepted as being equal. Bible doctrine was out, but the gifts of a spirit were central. Kathryn Kuhlman was a star to them and embodied the heart of the movement. When the whole Word of God is not supreme, the Holy Spirit is not welcome.
Speaking in an ecstatic tongue or utterance was central stage. This presumed gift was at the heart of the movement and quickly became the door that everyone had to enter. The very idea of ecstatic speech was reduced to a gibberish trick. People were helped along the way by being told to just start forming sounds and they would turn into the gift. “Repeat after me” was a totally acceptable teaching tool. The utterance quickly developed into chants that the crowds did in concert. I literally walked out of such events with an eerie feeling of evil in the air. Please understand that I believe in the real nine gifts of the Holy Ghost, but I do not tolerate the false.
The third false foundation of this movement was an utter rejection of a separated life. Many of the main movers and shakers hated the holiness heart of the Pentecostal churches. The great truth of sanctification and godly separation from the worldly life has been the rock solid roots of the Pentecostal world. The Holy Ghost will not dwell or manifest His glory in an unclean temple. All of this purity and devotion to Biblical standards was purposely rejected, downplayed, or downright attacked as the situation allowed. Today, the most absurd and godless lifestyle is championed and acceptable throughout the Charismatic world. Look at Todd Bentley, the present star (Spring 2008), with his tattoos and the rings in his face, along with an entire abuse of decency to see how far the purity of life has denigrated.
Those three main characteristics have been allowed and promoted until we now have this ultimate trickster, who claims himself a prophet of God. Todd Bentley is so absurd that the only way he could be accepted is by the thirty (30) plus years of conditioning. He is grotesque and diabolical. His departure from even basic truth and cultural norms leaves the wise despairing at such insanity.

Can you imagine a prophet of the true Jehovah God who is almost totally covered in tattoos which his “god” told him to get? He has rings in his ears and on his chin. As he prays for people, his main words are, “Bam, Bam, Bam.” The results are ecstatic, bodily motions that range from sexual gyrating to insane stupors. This spirit does not make you wise; it makes you unwise.
There is only one thing that ties this false prophet to the kingdom of God. He represents every false doctrine, emotion, and action that I have documented in the false invasion of the Charismatic world. Some of his actions go back before the Charismatic period when it was all called Pentecostal. (Please do not confuse this with Classical Pentecostals.) Mr. Bentley is a kind of culmination of every false doctrine or idea that has plagued the Pentecostal people and their churches.
When Pentecostal churches -- Church of God, Pentecostal Holiness, and the Assemblies of God, etc. -- were solidly rooted in Holy Scripture, and men like Todd Bentley and the persons he is emanating came along, they were almost totally rejected and exposed. They were usually reduced to a small crowd or totally removed from the organization. That day has changed as the Charismatic world has influenced the formerly great Pentecostal organizations.
We will try to look at key persons and the doctrines they reflected that are now manifest in Todd Bentley. I will not go all the way back to Azusa Street in 1906 because I am not a historian and would need hours of research to do justice to this argument. Let’s start with William Branham, one of the biggest names connected with deception and error. His meetings were attended with great signs and wonders, which he attributed to his angel who gave him his power. He was a Jesus Only proponent that called the trinitarian truth a doctrine of the devil. Todd Bentley is apparently claiming that the same angel, who accompanied William Branham, helps him and performs miracles with him.
The name Todd has given this female angel is Emma. First, there are no female angels in Holy Scripture. Angels were created before men and women, and the female gender has no place in the angelic world. The fact that women are helpmates for man is plainly stated in the Holy Bible. The name Emma is associated with many dark occultic movements and presents its own false realm. A little research will take you into a world of much confusion connected to her name. She certainly has no kinship to the work of Christ and His kingdom. Emma, if she even exists, is a fallen angel or a nephilim spirit.
Evangelist A. A. Allen, who died in the 1950s, also has a place in Todd’s theology. I watched a short segment of Mr. Bentley, where a woman was standing before him showing him the oil in the palms of her hands. He clearly accepted this manifestation as coming from the presence of the anointing in the meeting. Rev. Allen was fairly big during the forties and fifties, but slowly fell into disrepute. He was the first false prophet that I remember hearing about when I was converted to Christ as a young teenager.
While the acceptance of Rev. Allen was very marginal, I do remember some sincere saints in my home church that became quite upset when I plainly stood out against the false signs he represented. I was too young to even open my mouth, but I confess that I had not learned the same. To see Todd Bentley embracing this heresy of sixty to seventy years ago is prophetic of the coming judgment of such departure from Scripture. Satan never gets a free hand from the Creator of this universe and His infallible Word. Truth will triumph.
Paul & Jan Crouch are the two most effective of all false prophets and false prophetesses of this generation. They are not far ahead of Pat Robertson, Jim Bakker, and Benny Hinn; but win the prize by the extent of their influence. Gold dust that is claimed by Paul & Jan Crouch is also claimed by Todd Bentley. I personally watched and listened to a video in which Paul explained to Benny Hinn the source of the gold falling on his garments and that of Benny Hinn. Paul claimed that the doorway into the Golden City of New Jerusalem or some part of Heaven had been left ajar. The dust had fallen out of the door and floated down on these two men. Until my Father removes the second heavens between heaven and earth, that’s a long way for gold dust to fall (a few million light years).
Benny Hinn is going to need to upgrade his techniques because Todd Bentley is stealing them. The demonstrations of Mr. Bentley are very similar to Benny Hinn. They both are ready to send fire on people, which they claim is an anointing of God.
Above all of the false prophets, there is none that has gone so far from truth as Rick Joyner. He claims that he goes to Heaven and talks with Apostle Paul. He is best described as a strange astronomical traveler. When Rick met the Apostle Paul on his (apparent) first trip, he started telling the apostle what a delight it was to meet and see him. The great apostle supposedly rebuked Rick Joyner to tell him it was his pleasure, not Rick Joyner’s.
Todd Bentley cannot allow any one of the past greats in the false realm to be more famous than him. Read carefully as he really tells a fantasy tale about one of his trips into the same astronomical realm,
“…. I actually saw the Apostle Paul come walking toward me onto the bridge. … He was short, not more than 5'1” or 5'2”. He was bald except for a little crown of hair that came around his head. Looking very Jewish with a short, trimmed, white beard, my first thought was of a monk in a monastery! He actually had jolly cheeks and I thought: Paul you’ve got a little weight on you! I mean he wasn’t fat but he looked a little pudgy! He sat next to me and he took his hand and placed it across my chest not saying anything. But I felt like I was receiving an apostolic blessing from a father. While he touched my chest, Abraham and David appeared out of the cloud of witnesses. Although they were very close (and yet somehow at a distance), they weren’t the main focus. They were simply there as witnesses to an encounter. Next, Paul spoke to me without words spirit to spirit. I never heard one word but I had instant knowledge of what he was saying. He said that David and Abraham are true fathers — ‘These are the apostolic fathers’— and I thought to myself: Why Abraham and David? He answered me by saying that there would be no gospel without Abraham.”
“As I just stated, Paul told me that essentially there would be no gospel and there would be no
Israel without Abraham. He said too, that there would be no gospel without David because there would be no divine Son of David in order for the kingdom and His throne to be built upon the throne of David.”
“Next, I was at Paul’s house and he said to eat the Book of Titus! What’s more, several days later I was taken back into heaven to Paul’s house! But this time I didn’t go inside. I stayed outside where I saw a ladder in his back yard like the one described in Genesis 28, Jacob’s ladder. [I've come to understand that there are ladders like that in heaven in order to ascend and descend into different realms because heaven has places, geographical places. For example, the first heaven is where we live on the earth; the second heaven is the invisible realm of Ephesians 6:12; and the third heaven where I was with Paul, it's the Paradise of God.] So I jumped onto the ladder and began to climb up into another realm. I saw around me that it was all clouds so I began to pull those clouds back. As I did, a hole opened up in the heavens. Immediately then, out of heaven, flowed the color green, not just a light; it was like a green liquid and it was pouring onto my eyes! When I asked God about this, He said, ‘You are coming into the throne room; you are beneath the sea of glass; there is a rainbow around the throne. It’s not just above the throne; it’s a circle around the throne, a rainbow, emerald, green in color.’” (Excerpted from www.patholliday.com website.)
If this does not show the insanity of this man, I am helpless to teach you the truth.
We could continue to show a connection to the Kansas City Prophets, Bob Jones, Mike Bickle, Paul Cain, or Ruth Heflin. Todd Bentley is a culmination of an endless list of false teachers and prophets/prophetesses. Kathryn Kuhlman started an ecumenical movement, but at least stayed in the broad context of the Judeo-Christian faith. The final end of all of this abuse of truth and the Pentecostal people is to add the occult realm to the mix. Todd Bentley is mixing the entire realm of the underworld with his version of revival.
It’s Time For The Father to Act
I personally believe that the end of what we call the Charismatic movement is at hand. There certainly will follow echoes of all that is happening, but the Father has never allowed the devil to have the last word. The devil and his servants will be put in their proper place. At every point of history from Genesis to Revelation, our Heavenly Father has appeared to put it all in perspective. In the Book of Revelation the great God saw this day coming and announced His plan, “Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee. Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth” (Revelation 3:9-10).
Please notice that this appears to happen right before the Rapture. The religious facade will be accountable to truth. The Remnant Saints, who refuse to bow or bend, will be acknowledged by this unholy mixture. No one that I have ever met can hate you quite like this Charismatic crowd. Their love is giddy sweet when they woo you and as bitter as hell when you reject them. A large number of good saints have testified of the hate and rejection they received when they refused to submit to this error. This is why the Bible-believing saints will be the great company that error will be required to face and to whom they will be required to confess their departure from truth.
The Latter Rain Will Fall
The Book of Joel and the Book of Acts give us the absolute promise that the false revival and noise of the current closing moments of the Charismatic deception is not the end. Here are Peter’s anointed words of what is yet to occur, “And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke” (Acts 2:17-19).
My friends, rebuild your altar. Get ready for the Holy Spirit to give the final answer to the foolishness of men. His visitation will be sweet but powerful. It will be mighty but orderly. It will be full of emotion but divine. Best of all, He will come for His saints in the midst of His visitation."

I had an opportunity to witness to a friend today and I literally stepped on it-so I decided to send it to her as well.
She is going to visit her 85 yr old mother who is a Christian and I was telling her about Romans 11-which peeked her interest so she wanted me to email her the info so she could talk w/her mom about it.
Anyway, I looked at that chart again. You'll see a thin orangeish line between the Church Ages and the Tribulation. It represents the judgment of the Gentile nations which begins immediately before the judgment of Israel. (Jer 9:25 and 25:29 are listed.)
I browse around on some of the Revival sites and what they are saying is exactly the same thing.
It starts with the individual Christians, then the Church, then the Nations.
I think right now we are seeing the Church go through some fire and judgment as we speak.
Warning comes 1st. Then judgment.
Don't we feel the "Nations" are about to fall?
I had not given that line much attention before but now it's making some sense-especially regarding what is going on in my own church. The warning is coming-then what? Will they continue as is w/Rick Warren?
Or will they repent and change course? There is so much pride involved-no one wants to admit they have strayed off course.

Arab Anger Forces Obama to Backtrack on Jerusalem
June 6….(IsraelNN.com) Within 24 hours of expressing his firm support for a united Jerusalem in a speech to a pro-Israel lobby organization, US Senator Barack Obama found himself forced to backtrack in the face of Arab anger on Thursday. Obama had managed to enrage Palestinian Authority Chairman and Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) with his first foreign policy speech since garnering enough delegates to win the nomination at the Democratic convention in Denver this summer. "Let me be clear," said Obama from the podium at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) in Washington on Wednesday, "Israel's security is sacrosanct. It is non-negotiable. The Palestinians need a state that is contiguous and cohesive and that allows them to prosper. But any agreement with the Palestinian people must preserve Israel's identity as a Jewish State, with secure, recognized and defensible borders. Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel and it must remain undivided," he declared. Responding to Obama's remarks, a livid Abbas told reporters, "This statement is totally rejected. The whole world knows that holy Jerusalem was occupied in 1967 and we will not accept a Palestinian state without having Jerusalem as the capital." By Thursday Obama was quickly backpedaling, telling reporters "Well, obviously it's going to be up to the parties to negotiate a range of these issues. And Jerusalem will be part of those negotiations… As a practical matter, it would be very difficult to execute [a policy of the capital remaining undivided.]" Obama went on to expressed the view that there must be a way in which "everyone has access to the extraordinary religious sites in Old Jerusalem, but that Israel has a legitimate claim on that city." Israel has provided Christians and Muslims with free and complete access control of holy sites in Jerusalem since the Holy City was restored to the Jewish State in the 1967 Six-Day War. ATTY told me about a website advertising a movie called "The Star of Bethlehem". It is made by the same producers as "The Passion" I checked out the reviews for the movie on amazon, and they were excellent! I decided to order two copies of it from amazon. The movie showed up today and I just watched it tonight. It was excellent! I highly recommend it.
The movie talks about there having been a blood red moon at the time of Christ's crucifixion. It also talks about the different signs in the sky that occurred at the birth of Christ and when the wise men followed the star to Bethlehem. The research was very good. The narrator does an excellent job of following the evidence in the Bible and even ties in some of Revelation chapter 12.

Hi all. The guy in this video makes an interesting case I have never heard before supporting why the legs of iron mentioned in the book of Daniel refer to two remnants (Selucide & Ptolemy) of the Grecian Empire and not the Roman Empire.
The guy narrating the video also states that the words mixed and mingled mentioned in Daniel 2:43 are aramaic for ARAB (per Strong's #6151) which is interesting and then he goes on to state that the ten toes are the ten Islamic nations surrounding Israel that are mentioned in Psalm 83, again very interesting. He also discusses what the clay not mixing with iron refers to and much more, and all together it sounds like what he's saying supports what Joel at JoelsTrumpet.com is asserting.

I've felt peace--MOST of the time :)--about this process. I have a big decision to make in a couple days, and that's where I really need the Holy Spirit's guidance (and my my husband's assent). God led me to this job 5 years ago, so I told Him not too long ago that when it's time to leave, just let me know. Sometimes God answers prayers really quickly!

We have two seasons in Southern Ontario: I am freezing my butt off and I think my brain is literally boiling in my skull! Starting yesterday, the later season started. When I went to bed last night at 11:30ish, it was 87 degrees F in my house despite having the windows open and fans blowing for hours. Currently, it is 86 degrees in here and it is only 9:20 AM. Now this may not sound very hot to those of you who live in Southern California, Australia, etc., but this is also accompanied by a humidity that makes me think I should put on my scuba gear before I drown! As bad as that feels right now, I have to keep in mind that it is only early June; July and August are always much hotter!
Now that I am done whining, I can mention the good part. My wife and I take possession of our new house on June 18th, and we are getting central air conditioning installed on the 19th. Praise God!!!

He thinks it's Nephillim or in current times "Aliens".
So this could really have a double meaning.

In a somewhat connected topic to “The Star of Bethlehem”, I ran across this picture of Jupiter and short article a few days ago that I found very interesting:

I am not sure if I found this article myself, or if someone else at the cave posted the link.
You have probably heard of the Great Red Spot on Jupiter that is about twice the size of the earth. Astronomers think the spot is a storm. It has been there for hundreds of years. However, according to the article above, there are now two other red spots. One very recently formed and may join the first one. What I find really interesting about this is that Jupiter is known as the King planet and according to the movie "The Star of Bethlehem" it was the main celestial body that was featured in the different signs that the magi saw proclaiming Jesus birth (sorry if I spoiled some of the movie). There were other planets, stars and star formations that factored into the signs, but Jupiter played the biggest role according to the movie.
Maybe the 3 spots are a symbol of the Trinity? I am just spit balling here as I have no idea. There are supposed to be signs in the sky in the last days, and this could certainly be interpreted as a sign. I find the timing of these two new spots and the fact that they are on Jupiter very interesting.
When ATTY referred to the statue mentioned in Daniel yesterday, it reminded me of something that I read in "Cloak of the Antichrist". Here is a passage in Daniel talking about the feet of the statue:
Daniel 2:41-43 (English Standard Version)
41 And as you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, it shall be a divided kingdom, but some of the firmness of iron shall be in it, just as you saw iron mixed with the soft clay. 42 And as the toes of the feet were partly iron and partly clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly brittle. 43 As you saw the iron mixed with soft clay, so they will mix with one another in marriage, but they will not hold together, just as iron does not mix with clay.
Jack Smith, the author of “Cloak of the Antichrist” says that he thinks the iron and clay feet (both strength and weakness) in the statue mentioned in Daniel may represent Islam's combination of Sunnis and Shiites. The Sunnis are represented by the iron because they have always been the stronger of the two sects and represent 90% of Muslims. The Shiites on the other hand have always been the weaker and down trodden of the two as they only represent the remaining 10% of Muslims. They represent the clay part of the feet.
It is interesting to note that now that the U.S. led coalition has removed Iraq (led by Saddam and his Sunni Baath Party) from being a military power, it is the Shiite Iranians led by "Imadinnerjacket" that are currently the military power house in the Middle East. The Iranian leadership is waiting for the return of al Mahdi who they think will correct the injustice of the last few centuries. This includes the persecution of the Shiites at the hand of their Sunnis brothers. It is interesting to note that of the few things that most of the Islamic nations can agree on, three of them are: they hate Israel, they hate the U.S., and they hate the “apostate” Saudi Arabia (especially the Saudi royal family).
The article below, which is similar to the one that Lisa posted earlier about Saudi Arabia hosting an interfaith meeting (note that Iran was not invited) gives Iran even more reason to hate Saudi Arabia:

It is no wonder the Saudis are very concerned about the Iranians as they continue to refine Uranium. I guess the Saudis must think the U.S. is going to protect them from Iran like they protected them from Iraq when they invaded Kuwait. There is no question that Saudi Arabia was Saddam’s next target after he invaded Kuwait.
Jack thinks that the following passage in Revelation may represent the Sunnis and Shiites getting together to destroy Saudi Arabia:
Revelation 17:11-13 (English Standard Version)
11 As for the beast that was and is not, it is an eighth but it belongs to the seven, and it goes to destruction. 12 And the ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have not yet received royal power, but they are to receive authority as kings for one hour, together with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they hand over their power and authority to the beast.
The beast in this case is Islam itself. It is interesting that this passage talks about these kings handing over their authority, or maybe temporarily setting aside their differences (Sunnis and Shiites) for only one hour to accomplish a short term goal. Jack's view is that this goal is to destroy Saudi Arabia. The following three passages in revelation also talk about Babylon (Saudi Arabia in Jack's opinion) being destroyed in only an hour:

10 They will stand far off, in fear of her torment, and say,
"Alas! Alas! You great city,
you mighty city, Babylon!
For in a single hour your judgment has come."

I presume that the city that is mentioned is Riyadh. Think of how much easier it would be for Iran and company to take out the U.S. by destroying Saudi Arabia than it would be to attack the U.S. directly. If they landed a nuke in the Ghawar oil field, which is the largest oil field in the world and produces 60% of Saudi Arabia’s oil, could you imagine the problems for the U.S. this would produce? I just ran across this article that says the Saudi’s maybe running out of oil and they have to pump huge amounts of water into the Ghawar oil field and some other oil fields to get enough pressure to extract the remaining oil:

Jack says that this passage rules out the present day city of Babylon as being the Babylon referred to in the passage because that label would not be a mystery. Everyone in John’s day knew what city/country Babylon was and they do today as well. The name would not be a mystery if it was the actual Babylon that is being referred to here.
If we refer to this passage in Revelation 18:19, what country is more responsible for the amount of excess well that certain countries have that Saudi Arabia:
“Alas, alas, for the great city
where all who had ships at sea
grew rich by her wealth!”
This passage talks about ships at sea growing rich by her wealth. This could be talking about oil tankers. If the passage was talking about Rome and the Catholic Church, this really wouldn’t make sense. It really wouldn’t make sense if we were talking about the City of Babylon either. It has been restored to a certain extent by Saddam, but it is years away from making anyone rich by her wealth. Saudi Arabia has made many filthy rich for decades.
This passage from Revelation 18:17-18 talks about sailors seeing Babylon’s burning from a far off:
17 For in a single hour all this wealth has been laid waste."
And all shipmasters and seafaring men, sailors and all whose trade is on the sea, stood far off 18 and cried out as they saw the smoke of her burning,
If Saudi Arabia’s oil fields were burning, the fires would be seen for many miles away at sea.

Nice post of June 7, 2008 12:45 PM. There's only one thing I'd like to add: Riyadh isn't the capital of Saudi Arabia. Or rather, it isn't THE capital of Saudi Arabia. Saudia Arabia has two capitals: Riyadh is the traditional capital. The other capital (the "Seat of Government" according to my atlas) is Jedda (or Jeddah), on the coast of the Red Sea. Jedda is also a major shipping port, pretty much everything from the West that comes to Saudi Arabia comes through Jedda. If it were destroyed "in an hour" by a nuclear device, you'd definitely see "all shipmasters and seafaring men, sailors and all whose trade is on the sea" standing off in the distance wailing its loss. There's also the loss of ship traffic through the Red Sea in general. The Red Sea is only 100 miles across at that point, and avoiding Jedda means sailing close to Sudan and Eritrea, with the risk of pirates there. Jedda is also only about 50 miles from Mecca and is served by the same airport. (In fact they're building a new airport at Jedda to handle increased traffic for hajj.) Depending on where the device went off and what its yield is, it's possible that some buildings in Mecca might suffer damage. What with fallout, etc. it would be some time before anyone could safely make hajj again.
I found this bit of information when trying to find out some info about Jedda:
The name Jeddah meaning the "Ancestor of Women" is attributable to the tomb in the city which is believed to belong to Eve. Today, it is not however possible to see that interesting place since the Saudi Arabian government had the tomb destroyed for the reason that it would instigate perversions in the religion.
I wonder if there's another translation to the name "Jeddah"?
What's more, point your browser to this web page. King Abdullah City (or King Abdullah Economic City -- KAEC) is a new city that's being built on the coast of the Red Sea about an hour's drive north of Jeddah. It's going to be a mega-city -- shipping, industry, education, sea resort; the Saudi Land Bridge will connect KAC on the Red Sea with the port of Damman on the Persian Gulf via a road- and- rail link.
So I think striking either KAC or Jedda would bring down Mystery Babylon. If people can't get to Mecca or Medina and the House of Saud is brought down, perhaps the center of Islam will move back to Istanbul, the former seat of the largets Islamic Empire that ever existed.

Shalom, all! Thanks for the prayers. I was fine with the sandbagging, until the caps over the storm sewers broke and the street flooded. After that it was a retreating battle. At some points we had to abandon piles of sand because the water in the street had risen so fast the pile was now an island. It was one of those things where there's a plan that people are sticking to (build a sandbag wall between the houses and the river) even though situations change (sewer caps break). After a couple of hours someone finally got some plastic and tried to reinforce the sandbag walls around the storm sewers. It wasn't like closing the barn door after the horses get out -- not ALL of the horses got loose -- but still, it felt like an exercise in futility. After 11:00 or so all the churches had let out and the number of volunteers swelled, as did the confusion. I finally decided that there were too many people there, and it was time for me to come home.
Vicki, as someone who is presently unemployed, I can understand your plight. Have faith that G_D will provide, not always when we want, but always when we need.

Lisa, Shalom! Regarding that "Nephillim Rabbit", that picture really didn't surprise me. In the Caucus Mountains in Southern Russia there is a species of rabbit that commonly grows that large. Hunters do have to be careful of them because the size and strength of their hind feet (along with their claws) make them a dangerous creature when provoked.

That article on "The Daughter of Babylon" is good, but I feel it's biased, like someone WANTED to show the sections were talking about America, and squished and squiggled things into fitting his/her theory. The biggest example of this is where the author states about Jer. 50:11-12 that, "America is the only nation on earth that qualifies in these scriptures," in saying America is the youngest nation. America is NOT the only nation on earth that qualifies in these scriptures. America is NOT the "hindermost" (youngest) of nations, particularly not in this region. Both Saudi Arabia and Jordan have also been "mothered" by England. The House of Saud aligned themselves with the Wahabbists during and after World War 1. The Hashemites controlled part of the Arabian peninsula, but in particular were the traditional protectors of Mecca and Medina. When the Wahabbists attacked and took control of those two cities, there was a real problem for England, since that was in the English sphere of influence. There was the possibility of a prolonged civil war raging in Arabia, which would have endangered British oil interests. In order to keep the peace, England arranged for the Hashemites to retain their title of "Protectors of the Holy Sites", lopped off a big portion of the land they had promised to the Jews, and created the Hashemite Kingdom of Transjordan (later Jordan). By doing this England effectively created both the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Both of these nations are younger than America and both can be destroyed while their mother (England) stands ashamed.
Saudi Arabia leads the world in the number of water desalinization plants, creating drinking water from sea water. This has allowed her to beat back the desert and create a number of green zones. If she (as Babylon) is destroyed, though, those zones will dry up and the entire land will be "a wilderness, a dry land, and a desert."
If the Wahabbists join with the other Islamic fundamentalist movements, it's very possible that they could join with Russia (the land to the north) to launch an attack on Saudi Arabia with the intention of destroying the House of Saud. Russia would not necessarily be an active participant, but they could sell them the weapons and provide the "technical advisers" needed. This would again give Russia influence in the region and an ability to "regulate" the petroleum and natural gas markets for most of Europe.

I would also note that in some of my recent reading on both the calendar we use vs the Jewish calendar that not only is our calendar wrong so is the Jewish calendar by a couple hundred years which would place us quite close to the year 6000. Since 6 is the number of man how fitting would it be for the final days up to the year 6000 to be the Tribulation and the Millenial reign of Christ to be from the year 6000-7000. Rather simplistic but you never know-it might really be that simple.
I remain unconvinced that the Babylon described is anything other than what has traditionally been known as Babylon. I would say however at the recent talk I heard Joel Rosenberg give that there are actually two literal Babylons-one would be the actual city of Babylon and the other would be the current country of Iraq.
Although the Saudis do not specifically participate in so far as we know in the War of Gog and Magog I think the fact that most of the extremist thought comes from there could result in destruction of a fair amount of Saudi Arabia. Also, in general I see the war of Gog as not only punishment of those countries at that time trying to destroy Israel but is has been suggested that perhaps all countries who have ever tired to exterminate Jews will be judged at that time. Since the Muslims consistently try to get rid of Jews and since Saudi Arabia has the two holiest sites in Islam within its boundaries it might be particularly judged.

The Primo water video you linked to was interesting. As you said, we get back to the problem of using corn again. Making products that are not food out of grains and other crops is a terrible idea. The Ethanol disaster clearly demonstrates this. The world is running short of food even faster than it is running out of oil. Replacing petroleum products with grains is just a bad idea. I presume the Primo water company are going to use petroleum to run the processing plants that turn the corn into what they make the water bottles out of.
Isn't it amazing how many environmentalists are making things worse on the planet instead of better with their ill-conceived ideas and alarmist attitudes.
Here are a couple of examples. Most of us compost because we have been told that it is good for the environment. In reality, composting produces a large amount of CO2, which, if you believe in Green House Gas Produced Global Warming (which I don't) apparently contributes to the problem.
A buddy of mine is a lead engineer for Canadian Natural Resources Limited in Fort McMurray, Alberta. The Tar Sands in Alberta contain more oil reserves than all of Saudi Arabia (this is if Saudi is telling the truth of how much oil they have left). If Saudi Arabia is lying, as I suspect they are, Alberta contains many times more recoverable oil than Saudi. The trick is getting it out of the ground fast enough to keep up with demand.
One of the projects teams my buddy was placed on recently had a mandate to find ways to reduce CO2 emissions because of all the Global Warming alarmists. In their research, the team found out some interesting facts. One of these facts was that letting a tree decompose naturally in a forest produces more CO2 than actually burning the tree in a fire. So...if anyone bothers you about the smoke you are producing from a camp fire, you should tell them that factoid.
Syncrude is the biggest oil producer in the Tar Sands in Fort McMurray, Alberta. The company got themselves in big trouble a couple of months ago when 500 ducks died after they landed on Syncrude's huge tailings pond. This pond has the biggest dam (an earth dam not a concrete dam in this case) in the whole world. Normally, there are propane cannons on the pond that make a huge explosion sound every so often to scare the ducks away.
They got so much snow in Fort McMurray a couple of months ago (Global Warming, eh) that the propane cannons went out as no one could get near them to maintain them because of all the snow. Because of this, the ducks decided that the pond looked inviting to swim in. The ducks got covered in tailings (left over crap from the oil extraction process) and died.
Environmentalists were totally up in arms about this tragedy. However, my buddy pointed out the fact that wind turbines, a "clean, renewable energy source", kill thousands of birds. I remember hearing a story about a fox population problem near some wind turbines. People couldn't figure out why the fox population had sky-rocketed in an area where there were a lot of wind turbines. It turned out that the foxes were doing so well because they were eating all the birds killed by the wind turbines.

I also had considered Dubai as being Babylon. I have read that they currently have 1/4 of the world's cranes working on construction there. What they have built and what they are building is insane. That being said, Saudi is close behind them and closing the gap.
Four things have really caught my attention about Saudi Arabia (most of them are covered in "Cloak of the Antichrist" which make me think it is the Whore of Babylon.
1. Saudi Arabia has been the biggest producer of oil for many decades now and they have arguably been the biggest source of wealth and the excesses it brings of any country on the planet.
2. Saudi Arabia sits on 7 major oil fields that produce 90% of their oil. Jack Smith says that these are the 7 mountains that Babylon is described as sitting on in Revelation. This made a lot of sense to me. These 7 oil fields are responsible for Babylon's wealth and excesses. What would be the significance of Babylon sitting on 7 hills like Rome? The 7 hills that Rome sits on are in no way responsible for any of the excesses, wealth, or power that many attribute to Rome through the centuries.
I used to think Babylon was the literal Babylon, but the Babylon in Iraq does not sit on 7 mountains and I cannot think of anyway that these mountains could be represented by Babylon or Iraq.
The literal Babylon has not in anyway been responsible for the wealth of any nations, kings (other than Saddam and his sons), etc. for thousands of years. The literal Babylon is many years away from again gaining any significance.
3. Saudi Arabia is building that mile high tower, which is twice the height of the one that is slated to be finished in Dubai this year. This screams new tower of Babel. I have not heard of any thing like this planned for Iraq and Rome certainly doesn't have anything like this.
4. There are no countries or peoples in the world that currently hate Iraq. Almost all the other Islamic countries hate Saudi Arabia and how she has "prostituted" herself to all the nations in the world, especially the U.S.

Lisa, Shalom! With any kind of "Amplified Bible" you have to be cautious, because ANY amplification will involve the biases of the ones doing the amplification. For example, when it gets to the section on "Peter's Keys To Heaven" they make a very common mistake because they are focusing SOLELY on Greek texts. Specifically, the "Petros/petras" issue, which arises because Biblical Greek is a gendered language. This issue doesn't arise when you go back to the Aramaic texts, which use the word "Cephas", and in which there is no differentiation between the Rock that is Peter and the Rock that Christ will build His Church upon.

Kathy, I believe Charles Cooper is another one who argues for Jerusalem being Babylon in his new book:

But I don't see how Jerusalem can possibly be Babylon and still fulfil all the scriptural criteria. Saudi Arabia is a much better candidate. I even suspected New York some years ago. If Jerusalem was destroyed, I doubt the nations would give a hoot.

It's a pity he was so rude because he had pointed out a few problems with the book. You're right, it is quite complicated. Even Ron Wallace had some issues with some of Cooper's ideas.

I'd like to ask for your prayers for my family today as our air-conditioning went out last night and temps were over 100 degree yesterday and looking to be that high (with very high humidity) again today. I'm taking the kids to the in-laws for the day, but hubby is in a state about waiting for the repairman to come (he took the day off from work, but we have no idea when he'll arrive) and then the cost of the repair will be a concern, too.
Would appreciate prayers for everything to go smoothly and for God's Providence to meet our need (I have no worries about that...it's just a matter of how much stress will we 'enjoy' in the meantime!)

Mac, Shalom! That's an interesting article, although I think the editor took some liberties with the title. To me, it's clear from the way he talks that he was referring to the Evil One influencing politicians and business leaders, rather than actual possession. I think politicians are susceptible to demonic influence simply because "Politics is the art of compromise." When you are open to compromise, you are open to demonic influence. The Israelites compromised on removing the Canaanites from the land G_D gave them, and thus opened themselves to the Canaanite idols.

I was finishing up a study in Daniel last night
Look at Daniel around 11:20. This part starts to foreshadow the Ant-Christ.
When you get to Daniel 11:30-it says: For the ships of Cyprus(Mystery Babylon) shall come against him; therefore he shall be grieved, and return in rage against the holy covenant, and do damage.
After "Mystery Babylon" comes against him is when he defiles the temple.
11:32 "Those who do wickedly against the covenent he shall corrupt with flattery, but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry on great exploits.
Read on down-then the king of the North and South are not thrilled with the Anit-Christ's claims and they go to attack him.
Then later in 44-he gets news from the East (China) and the North which troubles him and he go out and destroys some more.
Also thought this part was interesting: 11:39
"Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance it's glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain."
In Daniel's time this is what happened:
"Using the support and backing of the Roman emperor, Herod was able to overcome all of his foes. In the process, he promoted the glory of the Romans in Judea to his own benefit. Herod gave land and authority to those who supported him in order to secure their allegiance. When viewed properly, we can see that every item foretold of "the king" in verses 36-39 was fulfilled in the reign of Herod"
Possibly for out time in a "cashless society senario":

Thanks for your prayers...I had a fun time at Grandma's today with the kids while Daddy was at home in a 90 degree house meeting with the repairman....Good news is that it can be fixed by tomorrow, so the kids will stay here overnight.
(Don't know if the grandparents could handle more!)
Bad news is that the entire system needs to be replaced to the tune of about $8,000. But I'm going to thank the Lord anyway...our car payment ends next month so we'll just roll this over into that fund. We also decided against a new roof recently, so we aren't even further in the hole than we could have been. God is good all the time!

Anne, my initial thought was to pray for everyone here and at the Omega Letter but I included everyone I know. It was quite a strong compulsion!

According to Zech. 13:9 the Lord is going to graciously save a remnant of His chosen nation Israel. One third will make it through the great tribulation and God's wrath. Ez. 37:24,25 says "I will be their God, and my servant David will be king over them...And they shall live on the land that I gave to Jacob my servant, in which your fathers lived; and they will live on it, they and their sons, and their sons' sons forever; and David My servant shall be their prince forever."
According to Is. 65:17-20,25 Israel will be dwelling on the new earth during the millennium, not Satan. He will be bound and thrown into the abyss. (Rev. 20:1-3)

Naa. I've got the local news channel on trying to keep an eye on how the flooding is going. BTW, love some of the ideas you have for fixing up the cave! All you need is a 55-inch plasma HDTV, with a Bose surround sound system and a blu-ray/DVD player, and you'll have one sweet underground movie theater! Just perfect for watching "The Passion of the Christ" or maybe "THEM!"

Grace - Once you get all your favorites back, you should make sure to copy them. If you are using IE, go to file: import and export: export favorites folder. It will create a htm file. Save it somewhere safe, that way you won't lose your favorites again. I learned that one the hard way!

The weather is so strange here in the Northwest too. We have snow in the mountains today. The newscasters are calling it "Junuary" because it has been winter-like for weeks. We have hardly had any sun this spring. Rain and clouds.
We built raised beds and decided to plant a garden this year and hardly anything is growing.

Shalom, all! I've been meaning to mention this for the past couple of days. There is a book by Sinclair Lewis that has become very relevant to today: ."It Can't Happen Here"
I have never read Sinclair Lewis. I always associated him with the books my older brothers and sisters had to read in high school, books like "Babbit" and "Arrowsmith." After I'm done with this book I intend to change that oversight, but first I'm going to recommend this book to everyone I know.
"It Can't Happen Here" was published in 1935 and tells about how, in the US election of 1936, Americans vote out Roosevelt and vote in a fascist dictator, who proceeds to amend the constitution to (among other things) remove the rights of Negroes to vote, hold office, practice law, medicine, etc.; make it unconstitutional for women to own and operate any business; guarantee a minimum income to everyone; and by the way, dissolve both houses of Congress as well as the Supreme Court. It makes me realize just how close things were in the US back in 1935 -- there were groups of Black Shirts and Brown Shirts drilling in public, and in the same month this book was published William Randolph Hearst stated, "Whenever you hear a prominent American called a 'Fascist,' you can usually make up your mind that the man is simply a LOYAL CITIZEN WHO STANDS FOR AMERICANISM." If you can get the 2005 edition with the introduction by Michael Meyer, all the better. The introduction puts much of the book into historical perspective, making it even more frightening.
What's even more interesting is that on the same page I linked to at Amazon.com they are selling a book by Jules Archer called, "The Plot to Seize the White House: The Shocking True Story of the Conspiracy to Overthrow FDR". I had thought this was some paranoid delusion when I ran across it on the internet a couple of years ago, but no, this really happened back in 1935-36.
And I thought 1968 was bad!

If these issues were not so beyond logical reasoning I would never believe in this Illuminati One World New Order take over scheme.
But-most of America can't figure it out either. How can such a small percentage of liberal minded Americans take over our culture as much as they have?

I have tried enlarging the print and all of the other stuff but it doesn't work right. Any, I had fun with the tiny URL page and I just found it from one of Mac's earlier postings.
