Dear friends, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him because we will see Him as He is.
my guy who I was not sure about turned out to be a SDA. He will keep me on my toes, and make sure I don't blend too much scripture. He knows the word well, and will not be easy to convince, especially when we get to the NT. Just my kind of student.
for the first time in years, it feels like I got the flu. PTL for drugs. On Monday we drive to Chicago. four days on the road, four days there, and four days back. Prayerfully the route will not be slippery.
Your guy may well be sincere but there’s a popular trend for SDAers to seek out other Christians just to challenge them on eschatology. I dialogued with a couple at The Christ in Prophecy facebook a while back. One popped on asking seemingly innocent questions as if he was seeking answers and promptly began preaching. When he was challenged he got arrogant and angry and ended up being banned.
They know their own stuff and how to attack other views. However, their hermeneutic is based on the NT redefining the OT and the writings of Ellen G White. They’ll often deny this.
Thanx for the heads-up. I have a few weeks before the next session, so I will make sure I do my research. I do have that buffer for the next 5 sessions that no one is allowed to bring in NT ideas (the OT prophets did not know them, nor did those ideas shape the hearts and desires of the OT people).
thanks for your prayers. part of the meeting went well about the technical part but they seemed to want to focus on my temper the following day. I got rather bent out of shape because of what I considered a professional insult however they didn't see it that way. suffice it to say that communication on the part of everyone would have made a real difference. we shall see going forward. however the person who could have been a real big problem was nullified.
please continue to pray for my brother as he has yet to find a job. the last interview did not result in a job which is strange because they had been actively recruiting him before. He has a fairly significant weight issue at this time and a badly broken front tooth and can't afford to have the work done to fix. no insurance to get it fixed either. The people were supposed to call about the job but they didn't and he found out via a facebook friend who teaches at this school that he didn't get the job. imo that means he shouldn't have been working there. this lack of work however is allowing him to work on his master's though so that's a good thing. He's been trying to complete it for 6 years now but working in a year round school did not lend itself to degree completion.
Jib, glad that meeting is over! Will pray for you brother today. How disheartening for him!
Last night my hubby and I were fine, talking about what van to buy, baby names, ect. This morning he was very angry at me, blaming me for the van's transmission going out! He does this at times, wakes up angry at me! I am always blown away by it. Please, please pray for us today. I can't stand him being angry at me, especially for something I know is not my fault. I am feeling very terrible this morning due to his treatment of me this morning, totally out of the blue and unprovoked. It just makes the whole day awful and then I am worried for when he gets home because I can never say or do the right thing for him not to be angry if he has made up his mind to be so. Only the Lord can get through to him. Thank you
Wayne, I'm a Seventh-day Adventist, and to be honest, I have never heard beliefs before like those you listed.
I'm thinking perhaps they belong to an "off-shoot" group...taking the Adventist name and some beliefs, but also weaving some unorthodox beliefs in among them.
I have been checking around with others to see if anyone has any knowledge of a cult or group who believes this way, but so far have no information. Will let you know what I find out.
Just a suggestion, but maybe you could call the local Seventh-day Adventist pastor to see if he knows who these men are. He may be able to enlighten you.
Diana, I'm so sorry that you're having problems. Perhaps your husband is feeling guilty about the van and wants to deflect those feelings to you. (Hey, I'm no psychologist, but I used to want to be one!)
Just continue to be patient with him...a soft answer turneth away wrath! Am praying for you.
I've been having trouble signing onto this forum under the name Michigander. I did something today with gmail and apparently did something right by accident!
So now there is no longer a Michigander...just me, "Vicki".
WAYNE, Sounds like they are throwing theories out to get your reaction and input. I will be praying for your next session.
DIANA, Know what you are going through and will be praying for you and hubby. I like Vicki's bible advice. Also, your prayers are important to overcome this situation from becoming a full blown war. Start praising God for his protection and guidance in defeating the enemy who would love to create hell on earth for both of you. Hard to do? You bet but it sure kicks the dust in the enemy's eyes when we do that.
Pray for those who deceitfully abuse you, bless those that curse you. Don't recall the book/chapter/verse but I will look it up so you will have the real version.
Just wanted to pass on a couple of prayer requests: one for Sonya, who is undergoing surgery today, and the other for Candace, who just lost her baby in utero. According to one poster, there has been such an increase in late-term in-the-womb deaths that her bosses sent her to a class to learn how to support these parents. That made one person remember the line of Scripture about "Woe to the woman with child." (Mat. 24:19; Mark 13:17; Luke 21:23).
I will be having testing/procedure done tomorrow and I am on moderate dosed steroids at this point for my asthma which chose this week to be an issue. sedation is involved so your prayers are appreciated. son is also sick-barking seal like cough, moderate temps. poor hubby
I heard back from two people regarding the beliefs of those people in your Bible study class that you discussed previously here.
Here is what one said--he is someone I respect and he's a good Bible student: "I don't believe that those people are Adventists. If they claim to be I don't think they are being truthful. Those ideas are too bizarre for even most Adventist offshoots."
Here was what an Adventist pastor wrote me: "Vicki, most of what you describe did not sound Adventist. You will find interesting material that we do believe relates to Lucifer's fall in Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28."
So the part of their beliefs about Lucifer's fall does sound legitimate. Ezekial 28 starts out talking about the King of Tyre and then, since the devil works through kingdoms and powers, Ezekial transitions behind the scenes to talk about Satan--who is behind the King of Tyre. Satan is not mentioned by name, but verses 12-19 certainly sound like him.
Anyway, just wanted to set the record straight on Adventist beliefs. May God lead you in your Bible study!
I have remembered those like Jib and the others who need prayer. This old world is waxing old and Jesus' return can't be far away.
This morning at church (remember, I'm a Seventh-day Adventist!) a wonderful rendition of this song,Redemption Draweth Nigh" was sung. Even so come, Lord Jesus.
We received wonderful news yesterday. Angie's tests came back negative for cancer. We are so thankful to the Lord. For all who have been lifting us up in prayer, thank you so much.
Jim G.--Praise the Lord! That's wonderful news. I guess I missed your appeal for prayer while I was in the Fla. Keys last week. Then hubby was in the hospital...no, I'm not going there. I want to keep the focus on you and your blessed news. I'm sure you are over the moon!
VICKI, I will be praying for your hubby and expecting God's greatest blessings to be poured out on both of you.
JIM G. Hallelujahs ring through out the heavens and earth with our praises to Abba.
I have a very dear friend in Missouri who has been a very faithful, spirit filled believer for over 65 years and she has had one serious bout of physical attack after another for over 40 years. We kept talking about the Stripes of Jesus, how he came to change all of those who would believe and yet the attacks just kept getting worse and worse.
She decided to get the mindset of a bulldog about those provisions that our scriptures tell us Jesus came to give us. About 3 weeks ago she told me that she is now only on one medication and the doctors have told her that if her next test comes back with the same great results, that pill is gone too. No surgery, no major routine to begin, just all of SUDDEN her body started acting like it should. The last thing that went is the hypertension and she is absolutely dancing in the streets. God is moving like never before and we haven't even started seeing the Word at work.
WAYNE, still praying for great discernment to be poured out on you and that this test will be quickly drawn to glorify our Abba. Sounds like this person is putting a whole bunch of ideas together to present a very confusing picture. Won't stop praying until that person is saved or totally rejects the Lord's salvation. And I don't believe he will do that.
I am hoping that you all will say some prayers for one of my brothers.
He went to the emergency room and was admitted for serious medical problems.
I have been praying for him for many years...I ask that you all please pray for his physical, mental and mostly spiritual health, that he will come to a saving faith in Christ.
Jim G-I'll add my praise to yours-no cancer! I feel for you with Daniel. BTW, the strict criteria for ADD/ADHD states that the symptoms much be present before age 7! This is why the doc who I referenced thinks that much is over diagnosed in this area because many of the kids being medicated did not exhibit symptoms until after that age.
Hey Jib, Hubby seems better. He just gets so, so scared of spending any money that we have saved in case he runs out of work. He reacts most of the time out of fear then also gets mad at me cause I am not fearful and freaking out, thinks I blow things off. Well, today poor guy is working on his truck with another guy. Praying they get the power steering pump and a belt installed and all goes well. Thanks for asking!
Age 7 for ADHD?! I know kids who are 4 and are medicated. I really believe that many are being diagnosed when they should not be, epidemic here in this country!
Also Jib, glad test is over. Praying for that for you. Has the weather warmed up in your part of the country this week (I don't know where you are at). My son's asthma always rears its ugly head when the weather changes. All this stuff blowing around. Yuck.
I have been reading through the most extraordinary biography it has been my privilege to read in a really long time. It is not just a story of one man's life but also the story of the struggle of the true church against modernist inroads. You will not come away unchallenged or unchanged.
Wow, I guess a lot of us are being hammered. We had ANOTHER house flood due to an underground slab leak. 1/4 of the house is torn up again. (We kept wondering why there were water spots down the hallway. I thought the kids were spilling bottled water but they kept denying it.)
But in the midst of that the kids got sick & missed a week of school. Lorraine (9) is still sick w/high fevers. She has a bad chest cough now.
And.....Still taking care of mom who's recovering from her broken hip & trying to find out what's been wrong w/her stomach. Had to reschedule her endoscopy while we were in the waiting room because I had to pick up a sick kid from school & mom didn't want to wait for more hours by herself. (Scared.) So this Wed we're going again. UGGgggg.
It wouldn't be so trying w/mom if she'd just quit her grumpy comments when things don't always go her way. Sheesh! (She mumbles all this negative stuff then acts like she didn't know she said it.)
To say I haven't been tried & refined by fire is the understatement of the week.
I've had the book since 2007 but I'm going through it a little more thoroughly now. This is the 3rd edition. The 1st edition was rushed and had various errors which I presume have since been cleared up. I'm finding that I have a better understanding of the issues the 2nd time around.
Hunt's taken a lot of criticism from Calvinists (especially James White) for writing the book.
Dave has been accused of misrepresenting Calvinism and Calvinists. I haven't checked all of his quotes (there's too many). The one's I did check are correct. IMO he pretty much hits the nail on the head. I've read what the Calvinists say and how they tip toe around John 3:16 etc re Definite Atonement etc. Dave's got it right.
The only criticism I have is that he should have left the emotion out of the book.
Lisa, I like that Hunt calls a spade a spade. The fact is that so many popular Calvinists contradict themselves and he succeeds in pointing to examples.
But I think he could have taken the gloves off without using emotion. Unfortunately, some of the Amazon reviews responded negatively to the emotion rather than focusing on Scripture.
Lisa, Wow you have had a trying week! I laughed when you spoke of your mom;s comments though cause that sounds awful familiar (my mom does that and her mom did too)! Praying you have a better week ahead!
Donna, Sometimes when we are praying for our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, children we don't consider that there are times when the only thing that will bring deliverance to the person we are praying for is serious situations arising for them. Sometimes the only path that will lead them to Abba is the dangerous one. I know that isn't what a lot of preachers and teachers will tell you but just look at the example Israel is living. They were the Apples of God's eye and had such a wonderful fellowship with him that even the mightiest country in their world could not stop God from providing them with the Great Escape. But when they sinned, nothing could stop the judgment of God in their lives.
I am not saying that your brother has sinned such, only that God knows what it will take to bring into the Sheepfold. Praying for his quick surrender.
I love Dave Hunt and yes, I especially like that he tells it like the Scriptures say. He can and does call out the spoiled scripture interpretation, thus saving the truth from contamination.
I lived that truth of God's great mercy but also of taking the hard path that is the last or least chosen for deliverance. My only remaining brother had been saved as a 9 year old and loved the Lord with all of his being. His conversion was so very real and yet, as a young teenage boy, he deviated from the chosen path and got in with the wrong crowd. In fact, the truth of the matter was, he rebelled. I believe he still love God with all of his heart but his flesh was out of order.
I wasn't saved at the same time he was and I only knew the degree of his determination to go a separate way from all of us. There were years that none of us knew where he was living. We never heard from him except for collect calls that occasionally were cries for help out of one situation after another. His pathway became much darker as the years rolled by but during all of this time period my mother, grandfather and I never quit praying for him. I was saved during that time period and then my grandfather passed away, so the situation became even more intense. My brother then lived in Alaska (Wasilla), was employed by the Federal Government where he was a technician on the US Radar installations scattered all over Alaska. He loved Alaska with all of his being and one reason he loved it, he could do as he wanted and no one to answer to.
From 1959 until 1990 my brother ran from God. Pure and simple. It involved so many forms of riotous living that he could have written a book for beginners. We kept right on praying and then in 1964 I got saved and the praying took on new meaning. If I tell you that he bankrupted my grandfather, broke my mother's heart and created the only Samurai warrior out of me, but only in the sense that I was fighting with every weapon that God gave us.
Finally, in 1990 my mother's life became in peril by the news that my brother had suffered a massive brain hemorrhage while visiting in Kent, Washington. He was not expected to live and the only reason we were notified was his girl friends family were certain Bob would not receive any kind of medical care because his girlfriend had told the hospital that he was homeless and destitute. Which were all lies.
In order for him to receive medical care, it required the signature of his next of kin and that is really where we came in to the picture. During that long battle where the picture was so dark and hopeless, we were eye witnesses to the wonderful provisions and great love and mercy our Abba has towards all of us.
But God was really answering our prayers but we didn't really understand what the big picture was all about. Only the anguish of his serious state of health. God brought my brother out of that stroke but he was wheelchair bound for the duration of his life. He came to Oklahoma when we learned that mother had cancer of the sinus area and it was not a good diagnoses either. Bobby wanted to come be with momma but that seemed impossible. Not with God, it isn't. He came here on April 30th, 1992 with a feed tube, no eye sight to speak of, terrible dental health and really pretty bad attitude. By the end of July 1992 he was eating regular meals and no tube, dental work was done and fantastic results, and his Ophthalmologist created lenses for him that were able to bring his fractured vision into perfect alignment. Then in August of 1992, he asked Jesus Christ back into his heart and life and it was a whole new Bob. This time, he couldn't run back to his hog wallow, and his days of running with the pack were over. The day that he left this earth and entered into heaven was very peaceful and he knew where he was going was wonderful. So, the horror of those beginning days were turned into the story of Overcoming and Deliverance. Along the way, we saw God move in such great measures that no one, and I mean no one, will ever convince me that God might answer your prayers. No he answers them when we trust him with all of our heart, mind and soul and love one another as we love our selves.
ok, I know someone is alive out there so here is something to chuckle about.
A child was asked to write a book report on the entire Bible. I wonder how often we take for granted that children understand what we are teaching??? Through the eyes of a child:
The Children's Bible in a Nutshell In the beginning, which occurred near the start, there was nothing but God, darkness, and some gas. The Bible says, 'The Lord thy God is one, but I think He must be a lot older than that. Anyway, God said, 'Give me a light!' and someone did. Then God made the world. He split the Adam and made Eve. Adam and Eve were naked, but they weren't embarrassed because mirrors hadn't been invented yet. Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating one bad apple, so they were driven from the Garden of Eden.....Not sure what they were driven in though, because they didn't have cars. Adam and Eve had a son, Cain, who hated his brother as long as he was Abel. Pretty soon all of the early people died off, except for Methuselah, who lived to be like a million or something. One of the next important people was Noah, who was a good guy, but one of his kids was kind of a Ham. Noah built a large boat and put his family and some animals on it.. He asked some other people to join him, but they said they would have to take a rain check. After Noah came Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Jacob was more famous than his brother, Esau, because Esau sold Jacob his birthmark in exchange for some pot roast. Jacob had a son named Joseph who wore a really loud sports coat. Another important Bible guy is Moses, whose real name was Charlton Heston. Moses led the Israel Lights out of Egypt and away from the evil Pharaoh after God sent ten plagues on Pharaoh's people. These plagues included frogs, mice, lice, bowels, and no cable. God fed the Israel Lights every day with manicotti. Then he gave them His Top Ten Commandments. These include: don't lie, cheat, smoke, dance, or covet your neighbor's stuff. Oh, yeah, I just thought of one more: Humor thy father and thy mother. One of Moses' best helpers was Joshua who was the first Bible guy to use spies. Joshua fought the battle of Geritol and the fence fell over on the town. After Joshua came David. He got to be king by killing a giant with a slingshot. He had a son named Solomon who had about 300 wives and 500 porcupines. My teacher says he was wise, but that doesn't sound very wise to me. After Solomon there were a bunch of major league prophets. One of these was Jonah, who was swallowed by a big whale and then barfed up on the shore. There were also some minor league prophets, but I guess we don't have to worry about them. After the Old Testament came the New Testament. Jesus is the star of The New. He was born in Bethlehem in a barn. (I wish I had been born in a barn too, because my mom is always saying to me, 'Close the door! Were you born in a barn?' It would be nice to say, 'As a matter of fact, I was.') During His life, Jesus had many arguments with sinners like the Pharisees and the Democrats. Jesus also had twelve opossums. The worst one was Judas Asparagus. Judas was so evil that they named a terrible vegetable after him. Jesus was a great man. He healed many leopards and even preached to some Germans on the Mount. But the Democrats and all those guys put Jesus on trial before Pontius the Pilot. Pilot didn't stick up for Jesus. He just washed his hands instead. Anyways, Jesus died for our sins, then came back to life again. He went up to Heaven but will be back at the end of the Aluminum. His return is foretold in the book of Revolution.
Remember when Andrew Strom went to Christchurch after the previous quake a couple months ago? I was curious to hear what he thought of the latest incident- interesting & sobering!
Here is a picture of the building I lived in while in Christchurch. It's sobering and heartbreaking. We have a number of friends there but have not heard of any who were hurt.
Just tried the link and it takes you to the first picture. My home is picture #26.
I'm hoping to have a few minutes (hours?) in the next few days to catch up on all the links y'all have posted. Jim G, the one you posted on the emergent church looks very interesting. In the meantime, I have a question.
I'm finding more and more people don't believe in the idea of hell (did I ask this already? I'm having deja vu). They believe that all people will be reconciled to God in the end. Therefore, the idea that Jesus is the only way is false. There is no judgment, only love and acceptance. They believe that scripture is misinterpreted or in some cases written for political reasons. These are people who are Christians, or at least once were and believe they are still, including some pastors and people in authority. My question is are the rest of you running into people who believe like this? How prevalent is this??
Anne yes it is becoming very prevelent but when it is being preached from the pulpits because the teachers don't believe in the verbal plenary inspiration of the scripture it can be expected. it all goes back to the question that Satan asked Eve-Did God really say? In point of fact what you are describing is compromise because people don't want to or can't defend the claims of the Bible. Then there is something called Unversalism, which essentially teaches that eventually all are reconciled to Christ, which is what is promoted in books like the Shack. Jimmy De Young wrote an excellent article someplace about the Shack-he is or was a personal friend of the man who wrote the Shack. The other issue is the lack of good solid cotrinal teaching in the churches today. People don't know why certain doctrines are essential to the faith, how to defend those doctrines. Then you have people like Rob Bell whom there are MANY people who like and think he's great who teaches that while he believe in the orthodox historic doctrines of the church he thinks they are unimportant and if they are re imagined as something else or we "discover" that they are something else that's ok.
VIENNA (Reuters) – Western intelligence agencies suspect Syria may have been building a secret nuclear-related site near Damascus, a German daily said, and a U.S. think-tank suggested it could be linked to a site bombed by Israel in 2007.
thanks for posting. what a truly disturbing article. I find it interesting that the Cathedral that survived the first time did not the second. However i will almost guarentee that the people of that church and that pastor will not see the same link.
We are having a baby BOY!!! My hubby asked the Lord for a baby boy. We have two teen daughters and two little boys already. My 7 year old son wanted a girl because he wanted to name her Lucy. We were going to use the name Lucia for a middle name for a girl just to make him happy. So, he was a little sad. Joshua (the 5 year old) doesn't want a baby at all, he was hoping I would have a puppy. Once he saw the sono at the doctor's though he resigned himself to having a baby! But, he wants to name him Joshua! or Spiderman! My teen girls seem ok with either boy or girl.
Diana, Congrats! Wonderful news! I can't wait to hear the name you settle on :-) We had 3 names for both boys and girls picked out (not an easy task with first/middle names and a picky, traditional husband vetoing everything I came up with :-) And my 5-year old Josh despises the idea of babies, too. He thinks it's "disgusting" that they poop in their pants and refuses to believe that he did the same not so long ago! LOL!
Buckets of blessings to you and your whole family!
DIANA, Great news and maybe hubby can find your other son a puppy about the time the baby is due. Had about the same situation with my daughter. She wanted a brother and named him way before he was ever conceived. But she also wanted a pony. Oh yeah, like Momma is going to get you a pony. I don't think so. She was a little put out with it but soon recovered after her brother was born and we did name him what she had been calling him for about 2 years.
Seems that Qaddfi has lost his air force now and there are military advisors now on shore in Cyrenaica, including USA. The article is on debka.com. I would link it but I have to get my bread out of the bowl and into the bread pans.
I agree about the Christchurch calamity involving Strom. Blindness and self indulgence to what God really desires of all of us is the main cause of what we are experiencing today.
By the way, yesterday I received 3 or 4 messages from some very aggressive people who are promoting the Universalism agenda. Came out of a comment I made on youtube.
Diana, so funny! Say, isn't this our first baby at the cave?
About Andrew Strom's email, I'm both surprised and not surprised. Not surprised that he got that response from many of the churches, the Christchurch Cathedral included. That was mainly a tourist attraction.
But, I knew many devoted Christians and attended an on fire church with a great pastor. I'm going to pass on Andrew's email to some I still have a connection to and see what they say. It isn't that I doubt Andrew's experience, I just wonder what happened.
Grany, Nooo puppy in our house! We already have two dogs; a German Shepard and a Labrador. With 5 kids and two dogs in my house I won't even get a turtle (actually my oldest has a snake but it is in her room and no one pays it any attention!)
The Lord has led us to get our van's transmission rebuilt instead of buying another used van that already has a rebuilt in it. We checked out the one my hubby was going to buy and right away I felt a great big "NO" don't buy it. Even though it has nearly 40k less miles on it than ours. At least our van has a ton of new parts in it already. Going to trust the Lord to keep it healthy for another couple of years!
I find myself watching the news way too much lately. The world is imploding. Being a product of the 80's and 90's I have never seen hardship before. My parents always took us on summer vacations on borrowed money. They have always had huge amounts of debt and in fact my mom cashed in her pension about 7 years ago to pay off my dad's business dept but he racked it right back up again. It is looking bad for them but I am so thankful that I did not follow in those footsteps! We don't have dept but we also don't own anything! Have no credit cards and very small amount of savings. Everything is still quite freaky. I pray all the time and ask the Lord to continue to provide even if (when) gas goes sky high and hubby has to struggle more to work. Still I struggle with fear some days. I really feel for all of those sinking in debt or can't pay mortgage!
Grany, Standing strong in the Word against those Universalists I have not doubt. (:
For those how appreciate connections here are some real doosies.

Nation of Islam convention to include talk of UFOs
The Nation of Islam, long known for its promotion of black nationalism and self-reliance, now is calling attention to another core belief that perhaps isn’t so well-known: the existence of UFOs.
By SOPHIA TAREEN
The Nation of Islam, long known for its promotion of black nationalism and self-reliance, now is calling attention to another core belief that perhaps isn’t so well-known: the existence of UFOs.
When thousands of followers gather in suburban Chicago this weekend for the group’s annual Saviours’ Day convention, one of the main events will include a panel of scientists discussing worldwide UFO sightings, which they claim are on the rise.
The idea of seeking the divine in the skies is deeply rooted in the Chicago-based Nation of Islam, whose late leader Elijah Muhammad detailed in speeches and writings a massive hovering object loaded with weapons he called “The Mother Plane” – although religion experts, Nation of Islam leaders and believers offer very different interpretations of what exactly happens aboard the plane, its role or how it fits into religious teachings.
It’s one of the group’s more misunderstood – and ridiculed – beliefs, something organizers took into account when planning the convention, which starts Friday and ends Sunday with Minister Louis Farrakhan’s keynote address.
“There’s enough evidence that has been put before the world and public,” Ishmael Muhammad, the religion’s national assistant minister, told The Associated Press. “There have been enough accounts and sightings and enough movies (documentaries) made, I don’t think you would find too many people that would call it crazy.”
During last year’s Saviours’ Day speech, Farrakhan for the first time in years discussed in detail a vision he had in Mexico in 1985 involving an object he calls “the wheel.” Using charts, photos and drawings, he spent almost four hours describing how he was invited aboard and heard Elijah Muhammad speak to him. Farrakhan says that experience led him to inklings about future events.
Farrakhan, 77, has said the wheel, with its great capacity for destruction, contains the “wisdom to purify the planet,” but has harmed no one so far. He also claimed there have been governmental attempts to cover-up proof of the wheel, which he says many call UFOs.
Nation of Islam leaders often quote Biblical references to the prophet Ezekiel – along with Elijah Muhammad’s teachings – when it comes to the wheel. In his book of articles on the subject, Muhammad described a planet-sized manmade vessel that orbits earth and is purported to be loaded with 1,500 planes or wheels, words that have since been used interchangeably. Their purpose is unclear.
Some experts have made comparisons to the Biblical concept of Rapture, which teaches believers will be taken up to heaven, while everyone else will remain on earth for a period of torment, concluding with the end of time.
Why the Nation is turning more attention to the wheel now isn’t certain. One explanation could be an attempt to keep longtime Nation of Islam followers happy after recent years during which Farrakhan has haltingly tried to move the group toward more mainstream Islam and pushed for the inclusion of other groups like Latinos and immigrants, said Jimmy Jones, a religion professor at Manhattanville College in New York.
The history of the highly-secretive group – which doesn’t release membership or the number of mosques – has been marked by splinter groups and fracture.
“This is a way that the Nation of Islam defines itself,” said Jones about the wheel’s significance.
But Ishmael Muhammad, who is widely considered a potential successor to Farrakhan, said reasons for the recent interest is simply that it’s a core belief.
He said the theme of the convention, which commemorates the birth of the religion’s founder and is expected to draw more than 10,000 people this weekend, is about scientific analysis. Another session is about natural disasters and what those events mean religiously.
“It is written, that these things would happen,” he said about Scripture. “We should prepare for such calamities.”
Lisa, I read that UFO article and immediately thought of you! I figured you'd find it and post it, too :-). The description of the wheel is intriguing. What's the Scripture reference for the wheel within the wheel? I'm thinking Daniel, off the top of my head? Will have to look it up.
Diana, I was feeling the same way about the news recently and realized I was beginning to let my anxiety (even though I don't feel it for our family, but for so many others who are clueless) spill over into how I was treating the kids and Bob, especially at dinner time when I had the news on and was making dinner. I was getting really snippy with everyone! So even though I'm a news hound, I started playing the Christian music channel instead and will now leave that on in the background when I'm not in the room, just to keep the house flooded with praise. It has helped a great deal and Ive realized that I don't need to know every single little thing that is happening around the world or country because my source is above all that anyway! But it takes a conscious effort to stay out of that rut as I do enjoy soaking in tons of useless information :-).
Jen, I know what you mean by the television affecting your attitude.
Some time ago I had just watched a reality show where there was a lot of contention. I found myself snapping at my husband, and instantly realized why. "By beholding we become changed."
There are actually TWO Old Testament scriptures in Ezekiel that refer to a "wheel in the middle of a wheel":
"Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the River Chebar, that the heavens were opened and I saw visions of God . . .
"Then I looked, and behold, a whirlwind was coming out of the north, a great cloud with raging fire engulfing itself; and brightness was all around it and radiating out of its midst like the color of amber, out of the midst of the fire. Also from within it came the likeness of four living creatures . . . Now as I looked at the living creatures, behold, a wheel was on the earth beside each living creature with its four faces. The appearance of the wheels and their workings was like the color of beryl, and all four had the same likeness. The appearance of their workings was, as it were, A WHEEL IN THE MIDDLE OF A WHEEL. " (Ezekiel 1:1, 4-5,15-16, NKJV)
"And I looked, and there in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubim, there appeared something like a sapphire stone, having the appearance of the likeness of a throne. Then He spoke to the man clothed with linen, and said, 'Go in among the wheels, under the cherub, fill your hands with coals of fire from among the cherubim, and scatter them over the city.' And he went in as I watched.
"Then it happened, when He commanded the man clothed in linen, saying, 'Take fire from among the wheels, from among the cherubim,' that he went in and stood beside the wheels. And when I looked, there were four wheels by the cherubim, one wheel by one cherub and another wheel by each other cherub; the wheels appeared to have the color of a beryl stone. As for their appearance, all four looked alike—as it were, A WHEEL IN THE MIDDLE OF A WHEEL." (Ezekiel 10:1-2, 6, 9-10, NKJV)
That's the one the nation of Islam likes to quote for UFO's to say they are from God. Prophecy in the News also referred to it but that never sat well w/me. The propaganda History Channel insinuates the Ezekiel passage is referring to god-like more evolved beings connected w/UFO's.
The passages I think could refer to UFO's is in Zechariah w/the flying scroll & the lead top which inside of it was wickedness being relocated to Babylon.
While on the campaign trail, running as the Democratic presidential nominee, Obama asserted his belief that marriage is the union between a man and a woman. He added, while being interviewed by Pastor Rick Warren, that "for me as a Christian, it's also a sacred union. God's in the mix."
Recently, however, he has stated that his views on gay marriage are "evolving."
(Ha,Ha,Ha.....Evolving my rear! Now he's just telling the truth.)
This strikes me as one of those "heard about it from the friend of a cousin whose brother-in-law heard about it at work" stories, but I figured some might find it interesting:
Carter Conlon (Times Square Church) has begun a sermon series which I think he called "Ending the Race". He states that he believes we might be the generation which sees the "end". I'm sure I put that wrong, but his words have to do with standing strong in the end times.
I'd just like to be clear, I don't necessarily endorse all of the anti-Christian or anti-faith posturing and tone of the Snopes article. If folks can set aside that and look at the evidence presented regarding whether or not the NASA story is in fact true, I think the Snopes article is worth reading.
Israel Apartheid Week to start worldwide on Tuesday
Israeli Apartheid Week, involving thousands of activists on University campuses around the world and including lectures, film screenings, parties and protests equating Israel's treatment of Palestinians and Arabs with white minority-rule in South Africa, will begin Tuesday morning. The event, initiated in 2005 by the BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Solidarity) campaign in the UK, will be marked this year in 55 cities around the world, mostly in Europe and North America. The stated goal of the campaign is to increase Israel's diplomatic and political isolation in an effort to bring pressure on the Jewish State to retreat from the West Bank and Golan Heights, dismantle the separation barrier erected to stop terrorist attacks into Israel and allow Palestinian 'refugees" from the 1948 and 1967 conflicts, including the children and grandchildren of those who originally fled, to enter Israel and have full citizenship in a bi-national state.
Just a quick note before I go, and no links to back them up. I understand that there's been another earthquake in Chile; and even more scary (to me) that big volcano in Iceland (not the one that erupted last year, but the one next to it that's much worse) has experienced over 800 earthquakes in the last two - three days.
Can't take the time to blue link or to investigate further, but here's a blog with Iceland volcano and earthquake info, at first glance it looks reliable. :{ (Who would rely on a blog and pass it on without checking it out??)
In a landmark judgment, which will have a serious impact on the future of fostering and adoption in the UK, the High Court has suggested that Christians with traditional views on sexual ethics are unsuitable as foster carers, and that homosexual ‘rights’ trump freedom of conscience in the UK. The Judges stated that Christian beliefs on sexual ethics may be ‘inimical’ to children, and they implicitly upheld an Equalities and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) submission that children risk being ‘infected’ by Christian moral beliefs.
HERE IS THE LINK TO ANNE'S BLOG POST . I visited it today after Jim's reference and the material is being backed up by met.com of Iceland. Looks legit but I did not find any information on the Earthquake site of USGS.
Thanks for the link to Anne's blog post she mentioned earlier. There is also another blog that I frequent that covers this same thing. I think I mentioned it once before for some reason modernsurvialblog.com
The keynote address, titled “God will send saviours,” capped a weekend of workshops focused on health, preparing for natural disasters and unidentified flying objects. The Nation of Islam believes in a UFO called “the wheel” or “the Mother Plane.”
No matter what you think of Glenn Beck it seems to me that the Lord is using him despite his Mormonism (as some Christians believe that Mormons are Christians many do not, as I don't either) He has been pointing out so many similarities between the the end times plans in Islam and Christianity and how the antichrist of the bible looks earliy similar to the one the Muslims are waiting for. I read all of this in Joel Richardson's book a few years ago but I find it fascinating that Beck has been talking about it now. I think we should be praying for Glenn so that the Lord can set him straight on the truth.
I have heard one preacher explain that the "wheel in a wheel" can describe the workings of the universe--from the intricacies of the atom (see here: Atom)to the workings of the universe (for example: View from Earth)
Just a footnote...I'm not subscribing to the beliefs on those websites I linked to...I just found these pictures as an example of a "wheel in a wheel".
As we as Christians know, God is a God of order, and His handiwork will show a beautiful symmetry.
Ezekial would have no way of knowing these fantastic things that God showed him, and could only explain them in words he could understand. Just like John trying to describe heaven--"eye hath not seen, nor ear heard..."
I think my first post about wheel in a wheel got lost. If it isn't found in the spam folder, I'll repost my original thoughts and links so you know what I'm talking about!
Good God's morning to everyone, no matter what time zone you live in.
I found something that is totally unrelated to the comments but it is just too good not to link you all to it. It has to do with Google searching and I used it and love it. On Gizmo Richards (pen name) blog, a volunteer listed some very interesting info for a more focused search result. http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/how-use-undocumented-operator-around-improve-google-searches.htm. It is a solution to all of those unrelated queries that have nothing whatsoever to do with the stated search. I tried to do a blue link just like I have done in the past and it would not allow the link to go through. Here is the reason it stated: Your HTML cannot be accepted: Reference " http:" is not allowed: A
After doing a search yesterday on a Wheel within a Wheel, I had over 17,000,000 hits. Yikes (as Marge would say)and you know the ones that you really want to read are at the very bottom of the heap. I just found out about this accessory and I plan on using it 100%.
Now back to the discussion!
Considering the fact that Mohammed was born way after the days of Jesus life on this earth, and the fact that he was an Arab, living in the Middle East, it would seem logical he would have heard about the teachings of the Jews and also, the Christians. By the time he started hallucinating about riding off into heaven on a white horse, he was probably very much aware of all the Bible characters, the same as we were before salvation was accepted by each of us.
My point is very simple: Adopt the things he had learned about and serve them up with a fervor for Mohammed. We have a Risen Saviour and he has an Antichrist. We have a Redeemer and he has a Killer. We have the SHOUT and a TRUMPET and he has a sword and horrible crying.
But the most important, he has a false god that they kill their selves over and we have a SAVIOUR THAT DIED FOR US so that we could live forever.
I know you all know that but there are always those that come here to read and maybe.........just maybe............
Grany, The Iceland earthquakes aren't showing up on the map because the map only displays those earthquakes that are either 2.5 or greater (in the US) or 4.5 or greater (in the rest of the world).
As for Mohammad being familiar with Jewish and Christian teachings, that is a given. Mecca was a crossroads for trading at the time, and the Kabbah (the big black building in the middle of Mecca) was originally a place where images of all the gods of every visitor would be placed so everyone could come and worship there. Mohammad's first act was to clear out all the pagan images, so that people wouldn't worship many gods, but THE God (in Arabic, Allah).
We also know he knew something about Christianity because the Koran describes Mary, the mother of Jesus, as the wife of Moses. (Obviously not a firm grasp of the texts...)
I read up on the eschatology of Islam back in the Joel Richardson days too & still don't agree w/him.
He thinks the end times are going to be all about Islam & an Islamic Anti-Christ reeking havoc throughout Daniel's 70th week.
Nope. We won't know until we get there of course but I think the Islam eschatology will gather all those Muslim nations prophesied to go up against Israel in Psalm 83 and/or Ezekiel 38/39, Isaiah 19.
That is the purpose of the parallel end time beliefs stolen from our Christian writings.
This 12th Imam is only one of many false Christ’s or whoever he is supposed to be.
The final Anti-Christ will appeal to all religions. He will be "out of this world" perhaps. At first he will put up w/the unified apostate Mother Harlot system until he sets himself up as god. Then her usefulness will be spent & she'll be tossed aside & trampled.
Many in Apostate Christianity are currently joining together to bring about "Peace" though "unity in diversity". (Rick Warren/Tony Blair/Pope)
Glen Beck is heading the same "unity in diversity" though encouraging all faiths to join together to "take back America".
I'll have to go back to my Mormon discernment book but I think somehow they also tie into the UFO meme. They become as gods - populate other planets but I thought there was something else too that connected. It wasn't as obvious as Farrakhan's Islam/UFO beliefs. The most obvious connection in Mormonism is Freemasonry.
Anyway- Warren, Blair, Beck, Pope ect... are being used to gather the Harlot Church together @ the same time Islam is gathering to make their end time move.
It doesn't seem like it will be long before we have a clearer picture of how things are shaping up.
hey Lisa. Well, that makes sense to me too, what you said two posts ago.It is hard to wrap my mind around the idea of all of it though. Especially Muslims accepting a spiritual leader who is not Muslim. Of course a war from those passages would change things quite a bit! But, yes, Warren/ Blair, ect really are some big shakers in this aren't they!?
It just seems to me that Beck is being used to at least get some info out to so many asleep. Of course that can and has led to many to begin following Beck himself and looking at him as "God's man for America" or something. Fortunatley, the Lord woke me up to all of Beck's "unity" stuff a while back. I have had some experience with Mormon theology too, so that info helped alot. I was watching him the other night and just cringed and then had to turn the TV off when he had the "Black robe regiment" on. They were praising him and agreeing with him as a brother in Christ. Talking about tearing down the walls of separation between people and such.
I have some Mormon friends whom I have prayed for who have actually left the church. They had just been so confused and lost there. Now, the son is attending a Lutheran church and the mom is agnostic. Still praying!!
I agree Beck does get some good info out - like the truth of Islam & other things.
But....What I'm wondering is to what ultimate end?
It just seems like more is being done end times prophecy wise w/the Harlot Church system than anything else @ the moment.
He just flew out to talk w/Billy Graham to get input for the next thing Beck wants to do. I'm more than suspicious of old Mr. Graham after later in years he had compromised into almost an "all roads lead to Rome" mentality after he got mixed w/the movers & shakers politically.
How many Christian pastors have come against Politics & remained pure in the Word & uncompromised? It's almost as if those accepted by the system become tainted & those who remain standing on the Word are rejected & shunned. (Especially now.)
I thought I should clarify what I said in my post that probably went into the spam folder. (I do think one of the websites I had linked to had some malware in it.)
Anyway, I once heard a pastor say that maybe God gave Ezekial a glimpse of His mighty creation--from the smallest atom to the galaxies in the universe--and the only way Ezekial could explain it was by saying he saw a "wheel in a wheel".
We've all seen pictures of the electrons speeding around the nucleus of an atom, right? Also pictures of the planets in orbit around their sun? Don't they look like a wheel in a wheel?
our friend who is moving in with us leaves NC tonight and will be driving straight through by himself clear across country to AZ. Pray for safe travel for him and for our new living situation as it develops. Honestly we aren't sure how long he will be with us, what goals he has etc. He has been trhough quite a lot in the last 3-4 years and is struggling to get back on his feet.
Praying for those situations, Jib. You're doing a nice thing. Your friend must be feeling pretty lost at the moment. May God keep all in His capable hands!
Jib, Praying about that for you and for him tonight!
Please also pray for my husband as he has a job interview with a home builder tomorrow morning. Probably has some competition for this job! He hasn't worked in a few weeks and he is starting to freak.
Praying, Diana. Remind him that he is favored of God as he goes into his interview and that rather than competing with others for the position, he comes with an advantage that others won't have because of that covering. Go in with confidence and a good opinion of God's goodness!
Praying for you friend, Jib, and for your husband, Diana, and praying for everyone here and elsewhere, too!
Please keep my brother in your prayers, too. He just had a second major surgery in two weeks. He has a lot of issues...so please keep him in your prayers.
FYI~! Uncle Bob is working on a new book that is going to shake this world! I just read the first 40 pages and he's addressed Nephilim, UFO's and New Age religion. His working title for this book is Other World Christianity. I don't know if he'll use that title.
So much happening, many of you know, my daughter Mia was married last weekend. It was beautiful and her and new hubby are in NYC enjoying a free apartment for the week... right next to Central Park.
I started a new job two weeks ago and it's like a dream. I love it! I'm being "run-thru" departments to get the exposure because they're preparing me for something in Corporate HQ.
Okay, I'm hungry and need to scavenge for dinner. Have a great night!
Today Lorraine told me when she got home from school that her 4th grade teacher has been going over Jesus parables & today they were talking about the 10 Virgins w/their oil lamps.
She raised her hand & asked the teacher point blank: "Are we all considered virgins?"
Then she said the teacher didn't answer her question & started talking about men & women & how they "get together" eventually telling her to "ask her parents" about it.
Lorraine was just flabbergasted the teacher didn't just answer the question & wondered why she completely switched the subject to people mating which had nothing to do w/her original question.
She looked around the room & none of the other kids would raise their hands to contribute to the conversation & were looking at her as if: "WHY did you ask her that question?"
Every time the teacher diverted the answer she would ask : Well are we all virgins or not?!
I did inform her that yes she was still technically a "virgin" & would be one until she mated. She thought that was pretty gross.(Not that she's aware of ALL the details yet.)
Now why didn't the teacher just explain who the virgins were "spiritually"? This particular parable being one of the rare cases I would not choose the literal interpretation. LOL!
Well, we are back from our Chicago trip. The roads were good, and our daughter's recital was excellent. We also visited some good friends along the way.
The sad part of the trip was that our daughter became overwhelmed with the amount of money that she willfully borrowed from us, blamed us for lending it to her, and then chose not to repay any of it. I forgave her debt, even tho it leaves us nothing at all for retirement, but we have a God who will look after all of our needs. Unfortunately, she rejected the "trust God" part, and used her own skills to accomplish her will.
I freely share my life with many people, but almost never share my heart with anyone. I am struggling with the pain of moving her and her husband from people I trust to people I don't trust. My wife truly saw my daughter's heart for the first time. pray for us as we go thru this pain, and pray for our daughter that her eyes will be opened to how she manipulates and then calls it God's will.
Wayne, I will be praying for all of you but especially that the Lord also bring great healing to you and your wife. It is just another attempt by the enemy of our soul to sow unforgivness and discord in your heart. Believe me, I have been there many times with my own daughter and many tears and 'Why God why?' nights spent being tormented by just such actions.
God will take you through it and I would like to add, it might get a little bumpy but He will go through it with you.
Lisa..TOO FUNNY! :) I am surprised thought that the teacher did not recognize that your daughter's question was of a spiritual nature, purely innocent question and well thought out too!
Wayne, it is most painful when it is your own family, is it not? I have learned recently that I cannot trust my own parents although they are both Christians. Many things have transpired to bring me to that conclusion and it is very difficult and painful. Will pray today about that for you!
My husbands interview went well but he said it was kind of weird. The owner of the construction company was about 10 years younger than my husband and he looked like he had just rolled out of bed! Hubby thought his appearance very strange. They have an order for three new homes to be built and Steve is just the guy for the job but they are unsure if they really want to hire another guy. He said he would get a hold of him next week sometime. Steve hasn't worked for two weeks now. They guy he normally does work for has many people owing him tens of thousands of dollars and he is waiting on some jobs to come through. Praying he can put Steve back to work this week. But, thanking the Lord that we got a good size check from uncle Sam after filing our taxes (due to our large family thats for sure!)So we were able to get the van fixed and can at least live off of that money for a month if need be (though we won't have any savings, hate that!)
Just to let you all know, I have a paper next to my desk and when I say I'll pray for you I do it right away before leaving my desk and I also write it down to remember later. I don't ever want to be guilty of saying that I'll pray for you and then not actually do it for I know how we all covet each others prayers here!
DIANA, Very good idea about the note being kept close to the computer. I have a prayer journal that I have used for quite some time and it is really a blessing to go back through and see all of the prayers that have been answered right here at the cave. I remember when we were all praying for Forgiven Daughter's good friend back at Joel's blog. The young friend was a mother of 3 children, if memory serves me right (didn't keep that tidbit in the Journal)and the mother had cancer. Sue (Forgiven Daughter)kept us all updated and there was a closeness with all of us praying for her. There are so many and yet, God just keeps on hearing and answering the least little thing that we are facing.
My journal is similar to a loose leaf notebook and pages can be added. A long time ago, I got the idea of printing off new blank pages for the future and it has worked really well. You know, I could almost write a book centered just on those prayers and how God showed up and what the answer was.
Well, gotta get something fixed for dinner and hubby is starting to sound like a chipmunk. Feed me, feed me.
too funny, perhaps you should enlighten the teacher as to what the question really was? you would have to do it in person though because her face will be priceless
Wayne so sorry to hear about your troubles. wow my God give you comfort in the knowledge that although kids stray and sometimes quite painfully they do eventually come back-we have God's word on that. His word never returns void and children who are rightly trained will not depart from that training-they may veer off the beaten path a bit but it does eventually get back to where it should be. i am proof of that
so Trevor is taking iowa basic skills test or something similar over this next week. I pray his does well. I always did fairly well but I actually sat down and took the test. my hubby did not fair as well but he also admits to not taking the test seriously etc. he said he'd get about half way through get bored and quit. we'll see who the little man takes after. since we home school this is a big deal for his family-after all we can't possible know how he is doing in school without taking some government given exam right? please. so i would love for him to be a couple of grade levels ahead so I can say nany nany boo boo but that is just the flesh speaking. seriously hubby and I believe that home school is where Trevor needs to be at this point and we will leave the details up to God.
Jib, just a reminder: the ITBS doesn't tell you what grade he should be in, just how well he is doing compared to all the others (across the country) in his grade. If he scores in the 90th percentile in any category, he's doing stellar. (I.e., if he scores in the 94th percentile in Math, it means he's doing better than 94% of all the other kids.)
Well then Joyce, tell 'em to put a sock in it before you do. Disdain, disdain, or as Solomon said "All is vanity" or meaningless. Education is great, wonderful and I love the pursuit but it is not the end all of anything. In fact, when you look at the condition of the whole world, is education actually helping this generation to solve problems without a shouting match? Or one that evolves into putting down of any opposing opinion? If that doesn't do it then we revert back to......guns.
It seems that everyone has grown 'buttons to be pushed' and for the life of me, I hate that worn out phrase. I didn't come into this world with buttons, except my belly button, and when I leave here I will still have the only button God intended for me to have.
Jib, Sigh..wish I had homeschooled my girls. It seems to me that home schooled kids do much better than public schooled ones. Grade school seems ok for my sons right now but my middle school daughter just has so many struggles. feel like I am always trying to undo what has been done all day at school. And what does she learn? Not much, really. Oh and the big argument from those who disagree with home schoolers, socialization? puleeze. I wish she didn't have this kind of socialization. Also worried about sending kids off to college, especially the oldest daughter who loves biological sciences. Send one away to be taught by atheists and Darwinists, what is going to happen? Yea, education is great and all but there are many, many pitfalls in there too. Greatest thing is for your child to know and love God. All else is vanity (thank you Wilma).
Everyone step back; I'm going to be beating a dead horse here...
We're having "Pledge Week" (aka "Festival!) on Iowa Public Television this week. Last night, they showed a documentary called "ADD and Loving It?!" Given the discussions that occurred earlier on this forum, I thought I'd link to the IPTV site for the show, where there are a set of 2 or 3 minute videos about different aspects of ADHD:
BTW, the reason the diagnostics specify the symptoms must be present before age 7 is that in the US, most kids are expected to be in the 2nd grade and somewhat able to read and write. It's at that age that problems with vision or hearing start to noticeably affect classroom performance, so the doctors want to make eliminate those things as factors in the diagnosis.
Train a boy in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not swerve from it. (Proverbs 22:6, NAB) (I imagine the same holds for the girls.)
Up until Vatican II American Roman Catholics were the most consistent (for lack of a better word) sociological group. It was remarkable to find a young Catholic who would go to a secular school and come back secularized. It would have been cause for much scandal and evidence of bad parenting.
Things have changed in the last 40 years, but Catholics are working on reclaiming that identity. I'm mentioning this because there is a book that you would find very helpful: Disorientation: How to Go to College Without Losing Your Mind It's written from a Catholic point of view but the subjects and the way they are covered are applicable to most Christians. It helps provide some intellectual inoculations against errors such as Relativism, Progressivism, Modernism, Scientism, and Hedonism, to name a few. (College is full of hedons -- I should know, I live in a college town.)
Hey Jim, thanks! Will look up that book for sure. My oldest, Kaitlyn, will be a senior in high school in the fall and we are looking at colleges. Yes, I live in a college town as well (well, at least a "suburb") I grew up in the college town. It is what keeps our economy alive around here! Also, thanks for prayer for Victoria (Tori)It is very hard to be a middle school girl. I survived it only by the grace of God. My parents pretty much ignored me. I am right in the middle of my kid's worlds though, so they can't get away with even a little bit of what I did!

Watchin and waitin to be first.
my guy who I was not sure about turned out to be a SDA.
Wayne
Just be wary, Wayne.
PS Am praying for travel mercies etc!
I got rather bent out of shape because of what I considered a professional insult however they didn't see it that way. suffice it to say that communication on the part of everyone would have made a real difference. we shall see going forward. however the person who could have been a real big problem was nullified.
congrats on your eyes there Grany!
Diana
praying for a new van.
please continue to pray for my brother as he has yet to find a job. the last interview did not result in a job which is strange because they had been actively recruiting him before.
Thank you
Diana
Vicki
(Michigander)
I've been having trouble signing onto this forum under the name Michigander. I did something today with gmail and apparently did something right by accident!
So now there is no longer a Michigander...just me, "Vicki".
Continuing to pray for all concerns.
WAYNE,
Sounds like they are throwing theories out to get your reaction and input. I will be praying for your next session.
DIANA,
Know what you are going through and will be praying for you and hubby.

I am praying for all the needs here, too, in Jesus' name, amen!
Continuing to pray that all needs are fully met. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Mat 11:28)
Hi, Wayne,
I heard back from two people regarding the beliefs of those people in your Bible study class that you discussed previously here.
Vicki

VICKI,
I will be praying for your hubby and expecting God's greatest blessings to be poured out on both of you.
Grany
Praise God, Jim G!
I'm 3/4 of the way thru Dave Hunt's book. Should be able to start "life In The Son" next week. Thanks again.
Keeping all else in prayer.
Wonderful report, Jim G! Rejoicing with you and your family at this great news!
Jim G. Wonderful news! Praise God! Also, please keep us updated on Daniel!
Praying for the needs here today!
Thank you for your prayers too friends.
Vicki, my sister says "I'm not a doctor but I play one in real life" lol. She also tries to find answers for me for various things!!

Wonderful news, Jim!
I am hoping that you all will say some prayers for one of my brothers.
He went to the emergency room and was admitted for serious medical problems.
I have been praying for him for many years...I ask that you all please pray for his physical, mental and mostly spiritual health, that he will come to a saving faith in Christ.
Thank you.
Donna
praying for great blessings on your brother.
Jim G-I'll add my praise to yours-no cancer! I feel for you with Daniel. BTW, the strict criteria for ADD/ADHD states that the symptoms much be present before age 7! This is why the doc who I referenced thinks that much is over diagnosed in this area because many of the kids being medicated did not exhibit symptoms until after that age.
my test also went well.
Diana
hows your hubby?
Hey Jib,
Hubby seems better.
Yuck.
Diana
Aw Donna, will pray for your brother today too!
So many needs can seem overwhelming to us but not to our Lord!! Praise Him
Diana

O.K. I'm off my soapbox. (:

Hyde, Which HUNT book are you reading? What do you think?
Lisa, I'm reading Hunt's "What Love Is This?".
Oops! What do I think of the book?
Dave has been accused of misrepresenting Calvinism and Calvinists. I haven't checked all of his quotes (there's too many). The one's I did check are correct. IMO he pretty much hits the nail on the head. I've read what the Calvinists say and how they tip toe around John 3:16 etc re Definite Atonement etc. Dave's got it right.
The only criticism I have is that he should have left the emotion out of the book.

i wondered where you were.
sounds like you have your hands full also.
The Man from George Street (So much for not handing out tracts!)
Yeah, I don't mind his emotional "abrasive" writing style but some people really don't like it & are quite critical of him.
Thank you for your prayers for my brother. It is very comforting to know that people are praying for him!
Lisa,
Wow you have had a trying week! I laughed when you spoke of your mom;s comments though cause that sounds awful familiar (my mom does that and her mom did too)! Praying you have a better week ahead!
Diana
Donna,
Sometimes when we are praying for our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, children we don't consider that there are times when the only thing that will bring deliverance to the person we are praying for is serious situations arising for them.
HERE IS HIS VIDEO ON A WOMAN RIDES THE BEAST found on youtube. In fact there is quite a wealth of videos by Dave Hunt on You Tube.

Lisa, that was a great testimony. I felt such sadness for him and all those involved. Thanks for sharing it, I love to read things like this.
Diana
Wise words, Grany...thanks.
Good God's morning everyone and if it is nighttime where you are, have a wonderful restful sleep.

FINALLY!
ok, I know someone is alive out there so here is something to chuckle about.
A child was asked to write a book report on the entire Bible.
I wonder how often we take for granted that children understand what we are teaching???
Through the eyes of a child:
The Children's Bible in a Nutshell
In the beginning, which occurred near the start, there was nothing but God, darkness, and some gas.
Were you born in a barn?' It would be nice to say, 'As a matter of fact, I was.')
During His life, Jesus had many arguments with sinners like the Pharisees and the Democrats.
The Children's Bible in a nutshell is cute, for sure!
Being in a valley is not easy...even when we know He is Lord and in full control of all things.
It's hard knowing people are suffering and going through difficult times...which is why I pray that He will come back soon and make all things new.

David Wilkerson's posts have been very comforting to me lately.
HOW BIG IS YOUR CHRIST?
Thanks, Anne...I just glanced at David's site and it looks like it's just what I need to hear/read.
Thanks!
Too funny, Grany...however, I have one issue with that story. I love asparagus!
I love it too Hyde but I love this little guys journalist endeavor too.
DONNA, Keep the 23rd Psalm in your heart for the whole trip.
I tried to post previously but it wouldn't let me do so.
So HYDE HOO, if you get that message in your email, please junk it for me.
Remember when Andrew Strom went to Christchurch after the previous quake a couple months ago? I was curious to hear what he thought of the latest incident- interesting & sobering!
AWFUL SHAKING in CHRISTCHURCH – Andrew Strom
I don't think David Wilkerson has ever posted anything I don't enjoy. He's really one of my very favorites pastors.
On the opposite note-@ RR someone posted a vid of Perry Noble. I'm still reeling from shock. A Purpose-Driven Scolding
Good article from Perry Stone Visions of America
Lisa...re Perry Noble - don't you just feel the love?
Contrast that to Peter and John's use of the word "beloved" in their epistles.
Lisa
the Strom comment seems to have moved.
Anne
yes it is becoming very prevelent but when it is being preached from the pulpits because the teachers don't believe in the verbal plenary inspiration of the scripture it can be expected. it all goes back to the question that Satan asked Eve-Did God really say?
Praying for those affected by that earthquake.
Anne, yes I've seen an increase in the push for universalism on the internet.
Jib,
I think Lisa's link had a typo. Try this.
AWFUL SHAKING in CHRISTCHURCH – Andrew Strom
I just spotted this:
Syria may have built atom site near Damascus
VIENNA (Reuters) – Western intelligence agencies suspect Syria may have been building a secret nuclear-related site near Damascus, a German daily said, and a U.S. think-tank suggested it could be linked to a site bombed by Israel in 2007.
Jim
thanks for posting. what a truly disturbing article.
Diana
Diana,
Congrats! Wonderful news! I can't wait to hear the name you settle on :-) We had 3 names for both boys and girls picked out (not an easy task with first/middle names and a picky, traditional husband vetoing everything I came up with :-)
And my 5-year old Josh despises the idea of babies, too. He thinks it's "disgusting" that they poop in their pants and refuses to believe that he did the same not so long ago! LOL!
Buckets of blessings to you and your whole family!
How exciting, Diana!
DIANA,
Great news and maybe hubby can find your other son a puppy about the time the baby is due.

Their purpose is unclear.
cont...
Lisa,
I read that UFO article and immediately thought of you!
Christians Need to Prepare for Normalization of Gay Marriage"Though Obama has always expressed his desire to repeal DOMA, his personal view on marriage had been traditional.
Did you all see what our fine president did this time, which really has gone under reported..

This strikes me as one of those "heard about it from the friend of a cousin whose brother-in-law heard about it at work" stories, but I figured some might find it interesting:
NASA Finds The Missing Day of Joshua
<><
Carter Conlon (Times Square Church) has begun a sermon series which I think he called "Ending the Race". He states that he believes we might be the generation which sees the "end". I'm sure I put that wrong, but his words have to do with standing strong in the end times.
If It Be Thou, Bid Me Come
Jim C.,
I think your suspicions about that NASA story were correct. Here's what Snopes has to say about it:
The Lost Day
NOTE: I realize that Snopes is not a Christian based site but they often provide good insight about such stories that circulate on the internet.
I'd just like to be clear, I don't necessarily endorse all of the anti-Christian or anti-faith posturing and tone of the Snopes article. If folks can set aside that and look at the evidence presented regarding whether or not the NASA story is in fact true, I think the Snopes article is worth reading.
I think I must a comment and link I meant to post (regarding what Snopes has to say about the NASA article) got lost in cyberspace.
Anyway, basically I commented that I think Jim C.'s suspicions were probably correct.
The Lost Day
I better quit trying to post comments. I'm barely making sense;-)
Jim G, I believe Creation Ministries International also advise caution on "Joshua's lost day".
Hyde,
I wonder if my previous post with the links got caught in the spam filter?
Excerpt from an ICEJ Newsletter I just received:
<><
Can't take the time to blue link or to investigate further, but here's a blog with Iceland volcano and earthquake info, at first glance it looks reliable. :{ (Who would rely on a blog and pass it on without checking it out??)

High Court Judgment suggests Christian beliefs harmful to children. Fostering by Christians now in doubt.
I should have given credit to Constance Cumbey for that post
HERE IS THE LINK TO ANNE'S BLOG POST . I visited it today after Jim's reference and the material is being backed up by met.com of Iceland. Looks legit but I did not find any information on the Earthquake site of USGS.

Lisa,
You might find this article interesting. I pasted an excerpt below.
Farrakhan: Mideast uprisings will come to US
The keynote address, titled “God will send saviours,” capped a weekend of workshops focused on health, preparing for natural disasters and unidentified flying objects.
I think we should be praying for Glenn so that the Lord can set him straight on the truth.
diana
I have heard one preacher explain that the "wheel in a wheel" can describe the workings of the universe--from the intricacies of the atom (see here: Atom)to the workings of the universe (for example: View from Earth)
Does this seem possible to you?
Vicki
Just a footnote...I'm not subscribing to the beliefs on those websites I linked to...I just found these pictures as an example of a "wheel in a wheel".
As we as Christians know, God is a God of order, and His handiwork will show a beautiful symmetry.
Here's another one I found: Pictures of Universe
Ezekial would have no way of knowing these fantastic things that God showed him, and could only explain them in words he could understand. Just like John trying to describe heaven--"eye hath not seen, nor ear heard..."
Just another idea to ponder!
Vicki
I think my first post about wheel in a wheel got lost. If it isn't found in the spam folder, I'll repost my original thoughts and links so you know what I'm talking about!
Vicki
<><
Evidence is overwhelming that UFOs are real, retired Army colonel says
Open Air Prayer In Christchurch
Diana
Perry Stone has a good group of teaching on Demonic Spirits in February. Here's one A Hebraic Study on Evil Spirits
(**His style is viewer friendly - not scary.)
Just something to ponder...
Vicki
Vicki, I released one of your comments that had gone to the spam folder. You should see it above somewhere. The SF is now empty.
Oh, I see it now...thank you!

Supreme Court: Anti-gay funeral protests OK
This is a good ruling for Christians in general to be able to speak their faith but I'm so upset by this group representing Christ.
Probably most people know they are out of control & speak nothing of Christ & the gospel.
But.....Would it be wrong to pray that their mouths are shut & they cease from this deplorable activity?
When they came to our Church - our pastor just handled it w/massive amounts of grace & love.
Ok that's good but why don't the Churches in general speak up about this group & make a concerted effort to inform the public that they are bogus?
Diana, That article was excellent!
Becks Bogus Beliefs
so prayers requested
our friend who is moving in with us leaves NC tonight and will be driving straight through by himself clear across country to AZ.
Jib,
Praying about that for you and for him tonight!
Please also pray for my husband as he has a job interview with a home builder tomorrow morning. Probably has some competition for this job! He hasn't worked in a few weeks and he is starting to freak.
Thanks!
Diana
Jib and Diana,
Count me in. Praying for you all.
Praying, Diana. Remind him that he is favored of God as he goes into his interview and that rather than competing with others for the position, he comes with an advantage that others won't have because of that covering. Go in with confidence and a good opinion of God's goodness!
Blessings,
Jen
Praying for you friend, Jib, and for your husband, Diana, and praying for everyone here and elsewhere, too!
Please keep my brother in your prayers, too. He just had a second major surgery in two weeks.
He has a lot of issues...so please keep him in your prayers.
Thank you so much!
Lori, sounds like a great book!
Here is a good article about the good soil parable Different Soil Same Seed
Wayne
Wayne,
I will be praying for all of you but especially that the Lord also bring great healing to you and your wife.
Shalom my brother in Christ,
Grany
Lisa..TOO FUNNY! :) I am surprised thought that the teacher did not recognize that your daughter's question was of a spiritual nature, purely innocent question and well thought out too!
Wayne, it is most painful when it is your own family, is it not? I have learned recently that I cannot trust my own parents although they are both Christians. Many things have transpired to bring me to that conclusion and it is very difficult and painful. Will pray today about that for you!
Diana
Donna, Also praying for your brother today too!
In Christ,
Diana
DIANA,
Very good idea about the note being kept close to the computer.
Grany
Praying for one and all.
Lori, keep us informed re Uncle Bob's book.
Lisa
too funny, perhaps you should enlighten the teacher as to what the question really was? you would have to do it in person though because her face will be priceless
Wayne
so sorry to hear about your troubles. wow my God give you comfort in the knowledge that although kids stray and sometimes quite painfully they do eventually come back-we have God's word on that. His word never returns void and children who are rightly trained will not depart from that training-they may veer off the beaten path a bit but it does eventually get back to where it should be. i am proof of that
Grany, that's not a chipmunk. That's Audrey II from "The Little Shop of Horrors"!

so Trevor is taking iowa basic skills test or something similar over this next week.
Anne
I would like to say it shocks me but it doesn't really
Jib, just a reminder: the ITBS doesn't tell you what grade he should be in, just how well he is doing compared to all the others (across the country) in his grade. If he scores in the 90th percentile in any category, he's doing stellar. (I.e., if he scores in the 94th percentile in Math, it means he's doing better than 94% of all the other kids.)
<><
yes i realize that Jim but it would be nice to be able to tell my in law family to put a sock in it
not very nice but I really am tired of their attitude and criticism
Jib,
Sigh..wish I had homeschooled my girls.

ADD Videos
Books 'n stuff about ADD (check out the list of "Thank You Gifts)
BTW, the reason the diagnostics specify the symptoms must be present before age 7 is that in the US, most kids are expected to be in the 2nd grade and somewhat able to read and write. It's at that age that problems with vision or hearing start to noticeably affect classroom performance, so the doctors want to make eliminate those things as factors in the diagnosis.
<><
Diane, just remember:
I'll say a prayer for Toni.
<><
Sorry -- Tori.
