Jim, I understand your point and agree somewhat. But, we do know that a prophecy can be averted through prayer and repentance. Remember how mad Jonah got when those Ninevehnians (that's fun to say) repented? Jonah 3:10 When God saw what they did, how they turned from their evil way, God relented of the disaster that he had said he would do to them, and he did not do it.

So, if a person really does get a word from the Lord or a vision or dream and is told to say a date, well, I guess I would...though I wonder if I would also say it's hard for me to beleive myself. Maybe that would be lack of faith and maybe the Lord would not be too happy with me?

I think I'm starting to ramble which is what happens to me if I try to talk after 10pm.

Goodnight, good friends.

Lori, sounds like you had a good time!

Good article Hydie.

I had the privilege of witnessing a wedding today (my uncle's) at a deaf church (he's deaf)

What a wonderful ceremony!
They started off playing a song & the pastor performed the song in sign language, it was very moving & quite powerful, I started bawling my eyes out, it was so beautiful.

What a wonderful day!

Anne, I have had day dreams of being a prophet before. If God would show me that this would happen....or if God would show me that that would happen. Wouldn't it be great if I were to show up at someone's door and tell them that such and such would happen on this date or that date, and it would happen? Can you imagine calling the operator of the White House...um Miss, can I speak with..ahh...the president...I...um...have a message from the Lord. I would definitely say father God, please show me that this is from you. Please prove to me by bring me up into your presence and showing me the expanse of the universe so that I may believe that this message is from you. Call me a skeptic but I would need all kinds of proof before I were to release a prophetic word to the public.

Focus Action Petition – Hate Crimes and ENDA About the Petition:

Nancy Pelosi's Democrat-controlled Congress has continued an all-out assault on our freedoms of speech, thought and religion with two bills being pushed as a reward to homosexual activists.

These two bills, the Hate Crimes Act and ENDA (Employment Non-Discrimination Act) are both designed to ultimately silence any moral opposition to homosexual behavior – thus threatening our Christian beliefs....

Anne,

I haven't heard of that person but this "Last night, at a prayer meeting at the Westside Vineyard Fellowship." alerts me.

If you check out "the Vineyard" churches-looks to be like seducing spirits have taken them for a ride. So if someone says they are involved w/that group I would be weary.

So many of these people in the "prophetic" circles are totally deceived. Maybe it's just particularly really bad right now I don't know.

In regards to Michael Boldea, Jr.I always thought he was on the legit side but that blogger has a point if these prophecies are not lining up w/scripture. God's word is the only gold standard we have & we need to take that very seriously.

Isaiah 66:2 "But on this one will I look: On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, And who trembles at My word."

Speaking of earthquakes-we just had one Sat morning @ about 7:30 am. It was centered off the coast of La Jolla & was around a 4.0.

We were asleep & didn't know about it but our neighbors were awake. They said that they could hear it coming-rumbling but didn't feel a whole lot since we live on a granite mini-mountain.

The Prince of Peace. Spiritual warfare is a constant reality. Yet peace is ours as citizens of His kingdom, for His life is our shelter. As long as I stand firm in my Prince, peace reigns. But when I shift my focus from Him to my wants and circumstances (including my own desire for peace), anxiety, guilt, fear, resentment, and confusion creep in. Quietly my Prince reminds me, "Be still and know that I am God." In a moment, my eyes are back on Him, He fills His place in the center of my heart, and peace again reigns.

Prepared For The Slaughter – The Disarming Of The Church

Born Again Christians are Now Compared to Inquisitors of the Inquisitions

jim.carroll said...

Lisa, Shalom! Just one tiny,TINY little detail about the Inquisition. It was started not to find "heretic Christians"; it was started because the Spanish government ordered the expulsion of Jews from Spanish territory. The majority of Jews left; but what about those Jews who converted to Christianity in order to stay but still held to their Jewish faith and beliefs? Remember that it wasn't until the late 1600's -- early 1700's that the concept of "the loyal opposition" was developed. Until that time you simply could not be opposed to the King or Queen and still be loyal to them. If someone converted to Christianity simply to avoid hardship meant you were not just in opposition to, but in treason to His or Her Royal Majesty. Since this particular treason involved using the Church to hide, it was given to the Church to root out these traitors.

This was the norm in all European monarchies for several centuries: if the monarch was Catholic, the loyalty of any non-Catholic was suspect. Likewise, if the monarch was Protestant, the loyalty of Catholics was suspect: would they choose to support their monarch or a foreign monarch (i.e., the Pope), especially if there was a dispute between the monarch and the Pope?

To put all these events under the title "Inquisition" gives the erroneous impression that this was strictly a Catholic action, when in fact it was practiced in every monarchy. (Try Googling "English Catholic Martyrs" for example. You'd find similar listings if you looked into the history of the Scandinavian lands.) Again, the reason for all these actions was the belief that if you didn't hold the same beliefs as your monarch, you were by definition a traitor. Religion was simply the most convenient hook upon which to hang one's beliefs. If toilet paper were around at the time, it could just as easily been not a battle between Catholics and Protestants, but between "Over-the-tops" and "From-Behind".

Interesting sermon today from Pastor Ray. He was explaining some prophetic implications to the congregation today & showed everyone this picture:New One World Currency: United in Diversity

In a highly symbolic moment at the G8 summit in Italy today,(July 10th) Russian President Dmitry Medvedev unveiled to reporters a coin representing a “united future world currency”.

July 10th -now wasn't that a day which stood out for some reason-that something "may" happen? Could this currency unveiling be a sign or ? Now I forgot exactly why the 10th was worth looking into-Jewish related?

Lisa,

July 9 was 17 Tammuz, the first day of The Three Weeks that will culminate in Tisha B'Av (9 Av) on July 30. July 10 would have been the first day of Daniel's 70th week if Dec. 21, 2012 was the midpoint.

The solar eclipse occurs on July 22 (1 Av); a penumbral lunar eclipse occurs two weeks later on August 6.

Campsmore, I was laughing out loud at your response to Lisa getting one of your headlines! That was too funny! I will have to take the time to read them all....things are moving very quickly!
Lisa, I grabbed a calculator on your article on Prince Charles. That is 8 years! They believe they have 8 years to save the world! If this is the case...we are in the countdown to the tribulation! Why does Prince Charles think it is his job to save the world anyway? Hmm....He has said he absoolutely will not give up the crown even though he is in his second marriage. The grailcode.net has stated that anyone who has the name Arthur has not reached the throne since King Arthur. Prince Charles also has the middle name of Arthur. They also believe Diana was killed to prevent a rival heir to the throne. I wonder if Prince Charles will endure the same fate....
I do believe that, if grailcode has got it right, we will see Israel sign the peace treaty sometime in 2012. That is the year Prince William Arthur turns 30! Not to set the date....only the proximity.

Another thing, I wonder if the vaccination for the flu virus will be "ok" for the first groups that take it, after all, if everyone gets sick no one else will take it. It will only be after several have taken it and been fine that suddenly we will hear of people dying from it! OK. I know. I'm paraniod! Do remember though. The Word says if we take any deadly poison, unknowingly, that we will not die from it. We are still in the Lord's hands. Whatever the enemy forms as a weapon against us will not prosper!

Jenny here......

I just went through all of my stored food in the pantry to check expiration dates. I was suprised to find out that canned soup does NOT last as long as other canned foods, peanut butter, some fruits and snak paks of pudding etc.. go fast.

There are some things in there that I continually "borrow" from and replace and some things I never look twice at. It was a good thing to get it all down on the table and kitchen counters and go through it all. Another thing that doesn't stay as long as others is flour.

There is a website Scott looked up for real expiration dates. Some food items need to stick strictly to the exp. date and others you can fudge on.

Needless to say, my grocery shopping will be light for the next two weeks.

Don't forget to go through your food stash this summer. I'm the little bug in your ear (as opposed to your food!)

Jec and Campsmore, Shalom! No, you can't be forced to take the vaccine, particularly if you are allergic to any of the components used to make the vaccine. You also cannot be (legally) forced if doing so would violate generally-recognized principles of your religion. I.e., Jehovah's Witnesses could not be forced to take a vaccination; Catholics, however, could not use Catholicism as a defense unless it can be shown that immoral means were used to create the vaccine; for example, if it were created using cells from aborted fetuses, This technique was done in the past to create vaccination lines for people who were allergic to eggs. It was so controversial, though, that people stopped taking ANY vaccine because they could not be certain that it wasn't created using this technique, so drug companies stopped making these lines of vaccines. This may be why, Lori, that you got the red flag at first but then got a green flag later.

However, if there is a general pandemic, health officials still have the authority to quarantine infected or exposed people who haven't taken the vaccine. How this quarantine would take place is uncertain: In the past, health officials would nail a "QUARANTINE" sign to the door. For a while, it was thought that military medical units would round up the infected individuals to take to a camp "to control the infection"; nowadays, though, it may be that this technique would be a violation of civil rights, especially when communication and access can be controlled through webcams. IOW, webcams could be used to ensure that no one leaves and no one enters without being seen; children in quarantined apartments could still go to school via webcams; and medical officials could do remote examinations, etc., through telemedicine, thus limiting exposure of medical personnel to pathogens.

Jenny, Shalom! If you've set aside any stashes of candy, you should check those out too. After a combination of finding an opened bag of chocolate chips in the back of a cupboard and my daughter finding my emergency stash of M&Ms, I started looking to see if they were past the expiration date. With M&M and other Mars candy, there is a code on the back of the package that starts out with three numbers. The first number is the year the candy was made, and the second two numbers are the week of the year. So, the numbers 806 means it was made in the 6th week of 2008 (i.e., the middle of February.) The company guarantees freshness up to one year after the end of the month where it was made. So, with the above example, the candy should be fresh until March of 2009. It should still be edible for at least one year after that (i.e., until March of 2010) and possibly beyond -- sugar is a natural preservative. However, after that time the chocolate starts breaking down. I could see this in the chocolate chips I found: they still tasted good, but had developed a whitish coating. That was the oil in the chocolate starting to separate from the solid. To stay fresh the longest, chocolate, like powdered milk, should be sealed in an airtight container and stored in a dark cool place where the temperature doesn't vary.

So don't forget to put cocoa in your survival supplies. Add some oil to reconstitute it and some sugar, and you've got something that can tide you over.

Here's something I'm going to do to use up those old chocolate chips: Take a loaf of frozen bread dough, cut into 4 pieces, and thaw. When thawed, roll each piece into a rectangle that is at least 1/4 inch thick or less (if you're energetic). Spread soft butter on each rectangle; sprinkle each with sugar, then sprinkle chocolate chips over the dough. Roll up the dough starting at a short end and tuck the ends underneath along the seam. If you want, brush the tops with melted butter or egg white. Put the loaves seam-side down on a baking sheet and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Let them cool on a rack for 5 minutes, then serve while warm with tea or milk.

So, far 4 of those young men are dead, one of them as a suicide bomber. Some years ago our community welcomed a good amount of Somali refugees and most of them, of course, are good people. The young men who disappeared spent most or all of their lives in the US and then were recruited by a vile terrorist group, Al Shabaab, responsible for the beheadings we talked about recently.

Alesia, Shalom! I can't say how my diabetes has been doing lately, because honestly, I haven't been checking lately. I spent my last $100 two weeks ago on my insulin (which should last a month), but all my other meds ran out including my Metropolol, which I need for my insulin to be effective. I sold my car back to the dealer on Friday. I didn't get as much as I had hoped (only $13,000 on a car I bought for $18,000), but I was willing to accept that for a quick sale. Too bad; I have to wait "10 business days" for them to cut a check. I asked if the fact that I owned the car outright meant it would be faster, and they didn't know. Luckily, that night I canceled my car insurance and should be getting the remainder back (about $250) any day now. I've got to make a payment by Friday if I'm going to get my phone service reinstated without having to pay a reconnect fee, and the power and gas company is starting to make noises, so we'll see what happens there. I've got some people interested in my barrister bookcases, and I'm getting ready to sell some of my books on ebay, so things are looking up. I had someone interested in my HDTV, but he turned out to be a money-order scammer.

So we'll see what and whom G_D sends next. Which reminds me, I need to call the cable company to see what the minimum level of service I need to buy to keep my internet access, and I need to contact the Iowa Dept. of Human Services (almost said DHS, but that means something else these days) to arrange for my child support payments to start up again.

P.S. I just checked, and the remainder on my car insurance hit my bank this morning! Woo-hoo! Drugs all around!

(for some reason, that just doesn't sound right...)

Isaiah 8:11-13

For the LORD spoke thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I would not walk in the way of this people saying : "Do not say, 'A conspiracy.' Concerning all that this people call a conspiracy, Nor be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled. The LORD of hosts, Him you shall hallow; Let Him be your fear, And let Him be your dread."

(with all of the elite agenda, moving, grooving & conspiracies going on in our day-it's a good reminder. If we have some sort of revolt we could hear a loud cry of 'conspiracy' from the masses & not to fall in line w/their fear & way of thinking.)

Late Night Lisa,

Chills. I was going to post that Isaiah passage yesterday, but got busy here at home!

I underlined it through the first part of 14. With 13 it reads:

"It is the LORD of hosts whom you should regard as holy. And He shall be your fear, And He shall be your dread. Then He shall become a sanctutary."

Just finished II Chronicles, Ezrah, Nehemiah. Now reading Isaiah.

I was struck with how the situation with the kings feels so much like present day. There were consequences to a nation that wasn't whole-heartedly for God.

And yet, over and over, he reminded them that if they would just turn again to Him, He is gracious and compassionate, abounding in lovingkindness. And when they did, His hand was with them once again.

I feel like we're now in the King Manasseh phase. Yet, personally, we can draw near to Him and cling to His words, wherein He will then 'be our sanctuary' regardless of the situation around us.

Hi All---Jenny here

I love this new devotional I got this summer. It is called, Voices of the Faithful-Inspiring Stories of Christians serving Around the World with Beth Moore. I feel we will be like this in our own country in the coming year(s) or sooner.

What is the deal with the partial eclipse coming up this month?? Oh yes, it is on the 22nd what does that signify??? We will be on vacation during the time, I believe. Is it "supposed" to trigger something? Sometimes I read so many different posts about different end times scenerios I get confused. That is why I appreciate the post about not fearing the earthly things but fearing our Father instead. The Issaih passage puts it into perspective....I like my sanctuary...it can not be taxed, vaccinated, implanted, teleprompted, drafted, forced into a box, censored, voted on,or polled. It is however, everlasting, perfect, grace-filled, forgiving, loving, jealous for us, enduring and courageous.

Fighting the good fight,
Jenny

July 22 is very significant!

That is a day that the Lord will make, let us rejoice and be glad in it!

info from Wiki:
The eclipse will be a total eclipse of the Sun, visible from a narrow corridor through northern India, eastern Nepal, northern Bangladesh, Bhutan, the northern tip of Myanmar, central China and the Pacific Ocean, including the Ryukyu Islands, Marshall Islands and Kiribati. Totality will be visible in many cities such as Surat, Varanasi, Patna, Thimphu, Chengdu, Chongqing, Wuhan, Hangzhou and Shanghai, as well as over the Three Gorges Dam.

A partial eclipse will be seen from most of South East Asia and north-eastern Oceania.

This solar eclipse is the longest total solar eclipse that will occur in the twenty-first century, and will not be surpassed in duration until June 13, 2132.

Totality will last for up to 6 minutes and 39 seconds, with the maximum eclipse occurring in the ocean at 02:35:21 UTC about 100 km south of the Bonin Islands, southeast of Japan. The North Iwo Jima island is the landmass with totality time closest to maximum.

I thought this was interesting because the New York Times, mentioned prophecy!

"The shrinking of the Euphrates, a river so crucial to the birth of civilization that the Book of Revelation prophesied its drying up as a sign of the end times, has decimated farms along its banks, has left fishermen impoverished and has depleted riverside towns as farmers flee to the cities looking for work."

HB,

Exactly-we'll have to hang onto every word in Christ in knowing what we do or how could we NOT become overwhelmed? At the speed it's going with almost everyone asleep? It makes you want to run through the streets like a mad man.

Fear the Lord more than any of this stuff & make Him our sanctuary. It just sort of jumped off the page at me yesterday as it did the same for you. What timing?

I just love Isaiah & I keep going back to it. There are so many nuggets in there! God's word is really a "living" word isn't it?

Lori & Jim C,

Oh please don't tell me they have actually come up w/Zombie killer robots! This is insanity!

Actually, from what I read in the architectural plans, it appears that this technology is not limited to a robot, but can be retrofitted to many vehicles.

OK...even though I can not type Isaiah today, that does not mean that I can not read it today. I think I will hang out there for awhile. It is like Lisa said, it is very frustrating to watch our country take all these turns at break neck speed without our fellow countrymen throwing fits. However, I think it has to be that way in order for end times prophecy events to take place.

I loved Isaiah 5:20-24
"Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight. Woe to those who are heros at drinking wine and champions at mixing drinks, who aquit the guilty for a bribe , but deny justice to the innocent. Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy one of Israel."

Wow, who should make you tremble? It is not our government. Come hang out in Isaiah for awhile. It is actually very calming to me considering the content. That is so God! Of course, that is not to say I want to see the unsaved suffer, I pray for them to turn from their ways and come to Jesus.

Typing on these netbooks is for the birds...

Defend the Front Line! Jan Markell E-News Update

Homeward Bound said...

I wasn't expecting that one, Mac. wow. Shock.

Alf Cengia said...

HB, it is a shock. The message is we have to continuously pray.

Excerpt:

God's warning to believers is, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour" (I Peter 5:8). This warning is more critical than we have probably ever considered.

Satan is our accuser (Rev. 12:10). He schemes to make us fall (Eph. 6:11). He sets snares to entangle us (I Tim. 3:7; II Tim. 2:26).

Until we reach our heavenly home, we are all in a fierce, spiritual battle. In that battle, our pastors and other spiritual leaders would be considered the front line against Satan and his minions. How to fight against the forces of evil? God says the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh (II Cor. 10:4). We must PRAY.

Alf Cengia said...

Pastor John MacArthur in his message, A Plea to Pray for Pastors, says, "We need to remember that prayer is battle; it wages war not against God but against the status quo, against sin and fallenness and the flesh and devils." In Rom. 15:30, 31, Paul directs the Christians to "strive together with" him in prayer. In Col. 4:2 he admonishes the church to "continue earnestly in prayer." The word "continue" says that he took for granted their prayers; the word "earnestly" means to be "courageously persistent" or "to hold fast and not let go." This praying is hard work. But we are commanded repeatedly to do it.

The Euphrates is drying up! That is so exciting! I mean I know it is hard for the people who depend on it, but it just means we are getting so close! I am dancing on my toes! I reread the scripture, Revelation 16:12. While it may be awhile before we see it completely dry up, we know it's coming!

Indeed, my spirit within me seeks you diligently;
For when the earth experiences Your judgments
The inhabitants of the world learn righteousness."

And close your doors behind you;
Hid for a little while
Until indignation runs its course."

"The LORD will dry up the gulf of the Egyptian sea; with a scorching wind he will sweep his hand over the Euphrates River. He will break it up into seven streams so that men can cross over in sandals. There will be a highway for the remnant of his people that is left from Assyria, as there was for Israel when they came up from Egypt."

Revelation 16:12-16 (New International Version)

12The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the East. 13Then I saw three evil spirits that looked like frogs; they came out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14They are spirits of demons performing miraculous signs, and they go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them for the battle on the great day of God Almighty.

15"Behold, I come like a thief! Blessed is he who stays awake and keeps his clothes with him, so that he may not go naked and be shamefully exposed."

16Then they gathered the kings together to the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon.

That was my delete. Too many silly typos. I'll try it once again.

While the current drying up may foreshadow what is to come, I don't think it is the beginning of what is spoken of in Revelation chapter 16.

The drying up of the Euphrates spoken of in Revelation caused by the pouring of of the 6th bowl. Other bowls must come first (assuming the order of bowls poured out in Revelation should be understood as a chronological order). So, I think it is premature to attribute the current situation to the 6th bowl.

The other reason I don't think it quite fits is the fact that an angel pours out this bowl of judgment. I don't expect it to be so gradual but it might be. Maybe the angel is holding the bowl over the Euphrates right now (just waiting for the Lord to say when) and some of the judgment is dripping into the Euphrates prematurely;-)

Just my thoughts. Surely, things are accelerating rapidly towards the Lord's return. No doubt about that!

John Holdren, Obama's Science Czar, says: Forced abortions and mass sterilization needed to save the planet,

Quotes from the article:

In a book Holdren co-authored in 1977, the man now firmly in control of science policy in this country wrote that:

• Women could be forced to abort their pregnancies, whether they wanted to or not;
• The population at large could be sterilized by infertility drugs intentionally put into the nation's drinking water or in food;
• Single mothers and teen mothers should have their babies seized from them against their will and given away to other couples to raise;
• People who "contribute to social deterioration" (i.e. undesirables) "can be required by law to exercise reproductive responsibility" -- in other words, be compelled to have abortions or be sterilized.
• A transnational "Planetary Regime" should assume control of the global economy and also dictate the most intimate details of Americans' lives -- using an armed international police force.

Of course, Holdren wrote these things in the framework of a book he co-authored about what he imagined at the time (late 1970s) was an apocalyptic crisis facing mankind: overpopulation. He felt extreme measures would be required to combat an extreme problem. Whether or not you think this provides him a valid "excuse" for having descended into a totalitarian fantasy is up to you: personally, I don't think it's a valid excuse at all, since the crisis he was in a panic over was mostly in his imagination. Totalitarian regimes and unhinged people almost always have what seems internally like a reasonable justification for actions which to the outside world seem incomprehensible.

Anne again, OK, so he co-authored this in 1977. Maybe he's changed his mind? How many things have I done an about face on since 1977? But, I haven't yet seen that he disavowed what was written (though I haven't yet finished the article) but what if there is another "apocalyptic crisis facing mankind" oh, say like...global warming! Or something. If he has distanced himself from these ideas, will he return to them. How much influence and power will he have?

Can the poor be happy?

God blesses you who are poor, for the Kingdom of God is given to you. God blesses you who are hungry now, for you will be satisfied. Luke 6:20-21 NLT

The Happy Ones

Have you ever met someone who said, "I really do not want to be happy. Happiness might be okay for some people, but it's really not for me"? Neither have I. That's because deep down inside, we all want to be happy.

In what we know as the Beatitudes, Jesus described how we can be "blessed," which means "happy."

What did Jesus mean when he said the poor would be happy? Does poverty make us more spiritual and wealth make us less so? Are we to believe that the fewer possessions we have, the more godly we become?

No, He doesn't mean that at all. The first beatitude simply promises the person who has nothing that possessions are not what matter most in life. What really matters is what lasts for eternity—and possessions don't.

The problem with those who own a bunch of stuff is that they tend to become preoccupied with it.

Our Lord emphasized four essentials for true happiness: faith in God, love toward others, honesty with ourselves, and obedience toward God. Jesus is telling us, "Don't envy those who make spiritual compromises. Though you may not be rich in this world's eyes, you have true riches. And I promise you this: You'll be the happy one."

Shalom, all. I was re-posting that Jan Markell newsletter article over on the Catholic Answers Forum, when this prayer came to me:

Oh God, we ask in Your name, by the Precious Blood of Your Son Jesus, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, that You protect and defend Your priests and religious against the attacks by the Evil One and his minions. Send Your Holy Spirit to strengthen them, guide them, and encourage them; and cover them with the Precious Blood of Jesus that they may be preserved from every evil act or desire, and from every temptation. In particular, we ask for Your protection for [name], Your humble servant, that [he/she] may be strengthened, guided, and encouraged through Your grace. We ask this in the Name of Your Son, Jesus. Amen.

This article really struck a chord with me because we are just finished up "The Year of Paul" (which is one reason the Vatican was so enthusiastic about the movie "Damascus") and we just started "The Year of the Priest". This is to encourage people to pray for the priests and religious in the Church. Too bad most people don't do background checks on the people Obama respects & places into positions of power. Oh-but that might reveal something they don't want to face. Better just to hide.

You know what I think it really is? People feel that God will give them a pass "if they don't know" the actual truth about something.

If they don't know then they won't be held accountable. Therefore, it's better to remain neutral or ignorant of a matter. If they find out something they don't want to hear then they'll feel required to change their outlook.

And they don't want to change their outlook because they are grasping for the only hope they have which is in a man, ideology, or system. If they loose that then they loose their only hope.

Anne,

I thought you might be interested in that I just received the "Hand of Help" newsletter which Dumitru Dudman writes.

It is quite long-12 pages and addresses the end times. He broke it down into 3 sections. "The State of the Prophetic", "The State of the Church", and "The State of the World."

I was extra attentive as we found out he's been charged w/being a false prophet among other things but I could not find one thing which was not scriptural in it. In fact the entire article was excellent.

He makes a couple points in the preface worth posting here:

"We look at the prophetic landscape today and see many pieces of the same puzzle. We are seeing the fulfillment of some prophecies, the partial fulfillment of others, and events are progressing with such unprecedented speed, that by the time we process the understanding of one thing, three others have already occurred.

Before going any further, I need to stress that although we are seeing the fulfillment of end time prophecy, and I discuss it from time to time, our focus must continue to be Jesus, and a relationship with Him.

We cannot be so consumed with the prophetic that we miss out on knowing the giver of prophecy; be cannot be so consumed with end time events that we miss out on a relationship with the One who is to return in these end times.....

Some have accused me of not being faithful to end time prophecy, since I don't talk about my grandfather's dreams or visions, or even my own too often, and my response to that is that my primary concern is to be faithful to Jesus, not to prophecy. Jesus is more important than prophecy, and prophecy is given to God's children that they might not be ignorant of the times they are living in, and that they might prepare spiritually for the dark days ahead....

Michigander said...

Hi, Lisa! Thank you for thinking of me. Yes, I’m still bouncing around in Cyberland!

I checked out the article you mentioned. In response to it, I would just like you to ponder a few things…

All Christians basically believe that the other nine commandments should still be kept. Why do they want to forget the one commandment that says “Remember”?

I believe we are no longer under the penalty of the law, but are under grace. Romans 6:15 says “What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.”

Why did God say to “Remember the Sabbath day,” unless it was possible that it would be forgotten?

Did you realize that the fourth commandment alone contains the seal of God? The seal of a king indicates his name, title and domain. The fourth commandment contains all three!
Name: Lord
Title: Creator (He “made”)
Domain: Heaven, earth, sea, and all that is in them

God wrote the Ten Commandments in stone with his own finger. These commandments were kept inside of the Ark of the Covenant, which was in the Most Holy Place of the Sanctuary. Hebrews 8:5 says that Moses was to build the earthly Sanctuary as a symbol of the heavenly Sanctuary. God’s law is the foundation of His government.

What other day has the Lord “blessed and hallowed (made holy)?

Do you remember that the Sabbath was kept before the Ten Commandments were even given? Read the story about the manna—given before the Ten Commandments were given on Mt. Sinai.

God says that the Sabbath is a sign between Him and us (Ezekial 20:20). I don’t find anywhere in the Bible that this has been changed. The Bible is my guide!

There are so many more things I could say, but I pray each one of you will prayerfully study this question on your own. It's important that we "Remember the Sabbath!"

Vicki:

As Christians, we have 2 "sacraments" to proclaim our being part of God's Church. The first one is within the family, and that is the celebration of the Lord's supper. This is our statement to our brothers and sisters that we have made Jesus a part of our blood stream(wine) and a part of every cell in our body (bread). We do not make this proclamation on the streets, but in the company of believers.

The second sign that we have is baptism, and this is to be done before the community. Thus, we proclaim the the world that we are followers of Christ.

For the Jews, they also have 2 signs. The first is for the family, and that is circumcision. They however do not proclaim that to the community by waving it around. God picked a much more difficult public declaration for them. No making money on the Sabbath. For a Jew, that has got to be one of the most difficult things to do, but it is their declaration that it is God who is their prosperity, not their skill at finding good deals.

We should all have a day of rest, but because we are not a part of a physical covenant community with a literal theocracy, the Sabbath does not apply.

There are many other Scriptural references and discussions that you can find and consider, however this particular perspective is not usually considered.

PS, true keeping of the sabbath means that one should never, ever, go to church on that day. It involves travel, and also makes the keeping of the sabbath impossible for all those who minister on that day. It was to be a day to stay at home with the fam and sleep all afternoon.

God bless,

Wayne

I appreciate the discussion about the Sabbath because my sister (as I mentioned before when I asked for prayer and advice about her, no news on that front) is involved with Seventh Day Adventists and believes that keeping the Sabbath (Saturday) is a salvation issue. Therefore, I am not saved because I do things on Saturday, like work, etc. She asked me, not seriously but to make her point, can I choose a different commandment to break, instead?

Wayne, can you provide sources for the info you just gave Vicki so that I can inform myself?

Lisa, thanks, I'll try to get the newsletter.

Late Night Lisa said...

Vicki,

The issue is not "Remembering the Sabbath" within the Body of Christ. It's whether it's mandatory that it would be under the OT Jewish law of being on "Saturday" only.

That is what the article explains & I tend to agree with it. Of course there are a few other things I'm not particularly thrilled w/ and that is the adoption of some of the pagan Holidays & turning them into Christian days of worship.

I rather have all of the Pagan references removed & that's why so many Christians find the Jewish celebrations more attractive.

The problem is we as the Church are not to be bound to the law & should not become mentally stuck in a trap as if we feel like we are required to practice these traditions & feasts.

I figure when Christ sets up His kingdom all of this will be straightened out. We know from scripture that a few of the Jewish traditions will be reinstated in the 1000yr reign. And if He tells me that Saturday should be the only day to specifically set aside then Saturday it is.

Don't the 7th Day say in their theology that if you don't worship on "Saturday" then you are part of the false religious system? Or "Babylon the Great"?

If so that is so utterly false it's almost laughable. If that were so then all these Christians from the myriad of denominations would have not be baptized with the Holy Spirit nor would they have a relationship with Jesus while continually being conformed to His image. If Saturday worship was “do or die”-then almost every person @ Mr. Hyde’s Place would be spiritually dead.

The proof is in the fruit and the fruit is there. And yes-that is scriptural.

Hey-I used to believe that everyone not a JW was a part of "Babylon the Great". That was pretty grim thinking that all of the Christians besides your own group were all lost. But then when you don't believe in a literal "hell fire" it doesn't make you overly concerned if they aren't saved either.

Wayne,

You made some other good points in what Jesus said our 2 New Covenant "sacraments" were (Baptism & Lord's Supper) that he told us we have to practice. We are told not to forsake the gathering of ourselves together & that's what we typically do on Sunday in addition to worship. Although we can also do that in small groups.

But I think what Vicki is saying is that we are still suppose to follow all the "10 Commandments" & keeping the Sabbath is one of those 10.

Didn't Jesus reiterate those commandments but left out the "Sabbath" command in the NT if I remember correctly?

That's why He says let no man judge you.....

I do agree that the time of fulfillment for the Euphrates is not here yet. It is exciting to see the beginning of it though! We can see by the events going on now, when the bowl of judgement is poured out, it won't take long to fulfill the prophecy. That was an interesting verse about it in Isaiah. I had realized it was in Revelation, but not Isaiah. So it will be divided into 7 streams huh? Maybe like was said, the bowl is dripping and the river is drying up. It is still a long way from 7 streams that can be crossed with sandals. I just bet that, in our lifetime, these people never thought they would see the day!
I do agree that relationship with Y'shua/Jesus is more important than prophecy. It is exciting to see it come about though. Especially in our generation! What amazes me is that, even the editor of the article admitted that Christian prophecy says the river will dry up. They still didn't give any credence to our faith in G-d! It amazes me that people can see that the scriptures are true, and still not believe! It is almost like G-d is giving them plenty of warning, but they won't hear it!

Jen and Jib, remembering you in prayer for good health and a safe flight!
The joke about the flu was so funny! I told it to my husband and he was laughing!
I know that G-d said the sabbath was the last day of the week and it was changed to Sunday. There is a Jewish man at askdrbrown.org that is now a minister. He grew up in the synagogue. He believes there is a place for both and I can see his point. We settled it this way in our home. On Friday we have a special family dinner with "sabbath blessings" spoken. The first is thanks to G-d for his creation and for rest on the sabbath. Then my husband prays a blessing over me and I pray one for him. We take turns praying blessings over the children and any guests we may have. It is a set apart time for us and G-d. Occasionally, we go to a friends house where they celebrate the Sabbath in the same way. Of course, we have communion too. This is according to your conscience as I know some believe that it can only be administered by certain people. We do attend church on Sunday. I love a lot of the Messianic teachings, and they really help me understand the Bible. Following the Sabbath and the feasts is a joy to me. Kind of like a bride rehearsing for her wedding! I don't believe we will be judged wether we do or don't. There is definitely a blessing in doing them! The Bible has really opened up to me and my understanding. I have been disappointed in the Messianic congregations in our area because I don't see many of them giving altar calls to allow people to decide to allow Y'shua/Jesus into their heart. For this reason, I don't attend any of their services except on special occasions. Without Y'shua/Jesus salavation, what do we have? A bunch of empty ceremony!

Wow, its so hard to keep up with you all. From 50-100 posts in such a short time span. It seems no matter how much you try and read and learn as you go, that you find that you have only scratched the surface with understanding scripture and growing as a Christian.

Many times I have been wanting to jump in and say something, but by that time, it just seems irrelevant.

It looks like I won't be understanding it all until I get to Heaven. Until then, I will continue to read and learn from you all. I did catch a few of the prayer requests and will lift you guys up in prayer.

I have somethings to say about Dumitru Dudman though. See, one thing about me is this makes my head spin and my mind races so fast, and being a perfectionist does not help either, and then throw in the ADD and you got yourself a combo package that makes it hard to jump in at times. Lol!

I have listened to the prophecy club with Stan something? and just listened one of his shows about two weeks ago. I haven't heard him for like forever. I might be able to find it for you if you want. But sometimes have you ever felt a red flag go up and that something just is not right, even though you cannot really put your finger to it? Its like the Spirit of God is just telling you in your spirit to refrain from it. That's kind of how I felt about Dumitru Dudman. I'm sure his grandson has great intentions and a great ministry that helps the poor and needy. When I read some of what LNL wrote about him, it seemed to be so much like the writing style of Stan on the prophecy club. Stan used to push Dumitru Dudman so much on the prophecy club when I used to listen to it back in 89 and early 90's. It seemed so much like it was a push for donations to their cause to keep the prophecy club going. Dumitru Dudman was one of those who was a guest quite often along others who seemed to me to be ones to pushing the envelope a bit. I guess you might say sensationalizing the events of the day to bring in the donations. I hope its not just me, and I seriously do not want to cause any trouble or be little others of the faith. They most likely are my genuine brothers of the faith. But it was so, so sad to hear Stan speaking and even though I have not heard him in years, the gist of it is of course Jesus. But in subtle ways, it was like he is still there hanging on to what ever donation could come in as there might be time in the very near future to close up shop so to speak and get a real job. He still believes in what he is doing and how God promised this and that for him and I would never question that, but like I said, it seem so sad to me hear him as I actually had to stop and I did not finish listening to him. Wow, I have gone on and on. I am sorry. I will try to find a link if your interested.

As to the Seventh Day Adventist I will just say this, can the Gospel be more complex as to proclaiming the simple truths of this:
Acts 2:21 '....And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.' If it was any harder than this, I would surely be going straight to hell! Thanks be to God for His great mercy and loving kindness in saving me!

Campsmore, Shalom! While that's true enough about Turkey, I noticed some other things while looking at my mini-world-atlas:

Turkey has at least one dam with a dam lake (sounds like my dad), but it's way up in the mountains at the head of the river. The Euphrates is one heckuva long river. After it leaves Turkey, it goes through Syria, where there is at least one more dam/lake combination, as well as quite a few tributaries -- some of them seasonal. Only after this does it enter Iraq.

If they are experiencing diminished rainfall in the region -- not enough to be considered a drought, just not as much as last year -- that would definitely be enough to reduce the inputs from the tributaries, reducing the flow of the river. If it's hotter than last year, that would increase evaporation, reducing the river flow even further. Frankly, I'd be more worried about Syria reducing the flow that Turkey.

Here's something else -- Scripture mentions the Euphrates drying up. Does it say what happens to the Tigris? If armies are going to be marching in from the east, they'll have to march across the Tigris, too.

Just consulted my atlas again... If armies march in all the way from the east, they'll have to come in through Afghanistan and Pakistan. In biblical times, this WAS the East; so I'm thinking Taliban. They march to Qom, the holy city just south of Tehran. From there on, there are too many possibilities. If Damascus has been abandoned and its people become slaves, they could take a southern route from Qom to Baghdad, from there march west and hook up with Saudi forces just east of Jordan (which I believe will be occupied by Israel ATT), then march in to Syria to "liberate" it and Lebanon.

But first they have to cross the Tigris...

Hello, all! You gave me some good things to respond to, but unfortunately I may not be able to get back with comments until this weekend.

In the meantime, I just want to say you all are in my prayers, especially those of you with family, health and financial troubles. One of the reasons I keep coming back to this forum is the spirit of love I see here. You are like a little family and I hope I can be a small part of it.

I believe that each one of you is a sincere Christian who loves Jesus with all your hearts.

Keep the faith!

A CALL to BOLDNESS
-Nanci Marshall.

The Holy Spirit has been speaking to me for 3 years (in words and
visions) that God is calling up an army of holy warriors who are
being prepared for the frontlines of His battle. He has shown me a
gap the size of the Grand Canyon between these holy warriors
and the rest of the world, which includes the lukewarm church
(Laodicea) mentioned in Revelation 3: 14-22.

He states that we are not to be afraid - He reminds me of Numbers
13 and 14, when Moses was commanded by God to send 12 spies
to scout out the area surrounding the Promised Land - remember
that 10 returned frightened to the point of recommending they not
try to take their Promised Land, while Joshua and Caleb were
fearless (see Num 13:30):

Num 13:30-32 - "And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and
said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. But the men that went up with him said, We be not
able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had
searched unto the children of Israel..."

Joshua, Caleb and their descendants were rewarded for their courage while the remaining 10 spies (the vast majority) were
severely punished as were their descendants.

Personally, I don't like to offend others or rock the boat - however,
I can't be a warrior and a chicken at the same time. So I am praying
for ever increasing boldness and courage to represent God well even
if it means rocking the boat, losing the support of others or even my life.

I sent this to you because you are also one of the called warriors.
So if you feel frustrated, out of place, or that you aren't yet walking in the fullness of your calling, be encouraged; it's for a reason.

"You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation,
a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who
hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light" (1 Peter 2:9) - you are the called ACCORDING TO HIS PURPOSE (Eph 1: 7-13; 1 Tim 1:9; Rom 8:28) – you are blessed!

So Jec,

You think Dumitru Dudman sensationalized some of his visions to bring in the donations for his Romanian missionary project?

I suppose it's possible. I wonder if Michael was keen to this & the reason why he doesn't say much about his grandfather's prophecies or if he uses the same tactic when funds run low.

Isn't it unreal to think someone would even purposely do this? Oh well-we can only try to be wise to these things as only God knows the heart.

Personally-I fear the Lord waaaay too much to ever allow my flesh to manipulate people in such a way. I wouldn't be surprised if a lightening bolt would come & strike me dead.

All I can comment on is the most recent newsletter & it looked OK to me.

well we made it back ok-no flying with the top down. it was a REALLY rough descent however and about an hour later we discovered why-one of our infamous haboobs was happening-the dust must have stretched for 40 miles in the east wet direction and it was difficult to say how long it was in the north south direction-at least 20 miles or so but then there were a few miles of clear area (which later became engulfed) and another storm just south of that for who knows how big. the second storm, while not as big as the first, had zero visibility in spots. the first storm looked to be about a 1000 ft high also. we took pictures-not sure if they came out.

on another note-those of you who home schooled-we are going to a convention today-any suggestions on curriculum?

mostly looking for suggestions as to what people have used and liked. son is a visual doer learner and VERY active!

Lisa, I wasn't referring to Dumitu sensationalizing his visions but Stan Johnson on the prophecy club. I'm not sure about his grandson either. But the audio program that I listened to, which I could not find, was perhaps at a time when Stan was really down and he was loosing his hopes in his dream of finding oil in Israel. Stan has mentioned much about Dumitu in the past and had him on his show many times before. You could probable look up prophecyclub.com and search through some of the archives. I don't know the date of the show I listened to but Stan was really down and sometimes it seemed that he sensationalized it at times to bring in donations but not too sure. As for Dumitu, I have heard of him being a false prophet also somewhere which is a red flag in and of itself if its true. Don't think people would intentionally lead people astray knowingly. Perhaps people look back and say, "did I say that?", and then feel bad if in fact it was realized that it was untrue after the fact of a certain vision or dream that did not pan out.

campsmore said...

If he's visual/"doer" do not use Alpha Omega or Abeka. I used Bob Jones University curriculum for my last one in HS, and wish I had gotten it sooner for both him and my oldest.

My 2nd child (now 21) has Aspergers'

For language you might consider;
Wordsmith Apprentice. It teaches language skills by projects. So instead of just memorizing information there is practical application.

For math consider the more practical; i.e. Real Life Math: Market Math for Beginners

Choose a science curriculum that is also hands on. One thing that helped my group; when studying fractions or science, use kitchen helps. I literally had my kids making goodies in the kitchen, but they had to double the recipe. So they could be learning fractions or depending on what we were making, solutions.

We began to see educational benefits in many of our regular activities, so my hubby bought me a digital recorder that I kept in my purse to record events that I deemed educational (there were many) that I knew I wouldn't have time to log until later.

Use as many practical applications as possible. When my daughter was in 4th grade, we studied the civil rights movement, and how it affected all minorites. We started with the underground railroad and to drive the point across, assigned my daughter a project. She was to take this 8 foot long piece of paper and sketch out our county. Then she had to draw on it people and places/churches/stores we knew. Then she had to map out an underground railroad to smuggle someone from point A to point Z.

insert funny story: At the end of the semester, we happened to be at PBIA (airport) picking up a relative we were expecting. My daughter yelled out, "Mom! Mom! It's Coretta Scott King!!!" I told her to shush. I was so embarrassed thinking that she had just mistaken another black woman for Mrs. King. She said, "MOM! she's right there!" I looked up and saw a very poised Coretta Scott King in a striking 2pc purple outfit surrounded by body guards! Television never did her justice. She was beautiful.

Anyway, use as many practical things in everyday life to educate your student. They are life lessons they will never forget.

what problems did you have with Alpha Omega? not this year but perhaps next we were thinking of using their switched on school house. I was somewhat intrigued by their weaver curriculum.

I'll look at BJ although I am somewhat disposed to be anti BJ since I spent 2 years in college there. I left of my own volition btw. Their academics were and are top notch though I'll admit but it's the rest of the baggage that has turned my off. i don't know about now but they were rather legalistic and Pharisaical when I was there. keep in mind that I was there during the whole tax debacle regarding inter-racial dating and marriage. I have heard via the grape vine that Bob 3rd regrets his dad's actions to an extent. Needless to say when Bob 3 and the head of the science dept came out in favor of Romney I was pleasantly shocked. If you ever get the chance go to their museum they have on campus (you'll have to research their current dress code and all visitors must follow their dress code or they aren't allowed on campus or at least they weren't)it is outstanding and has the most extensive collection of religious art outside the Vatican. It was my absolute favorite place to go while I was there-it was about the only place i could go to be alone.

jib said...

what about the veritas curriculum or saxon math?

Late Night Lisa said...

Jib,

My favorite has been A-BEKA. The basic workbooks are great. There are more extra teaching books available then you would probably need. (I bought some but didn't need to use them.) It's a Christian based curriculum.

Diana,

I go to Maranatha Chapel but its set upon the Calvary Chapel system. Our pastor's pastor is Chuck Smith.

Calvary Chapel was started by Chuck Smith in the 1970's. It was called the "Jesus" movement & he felt a burden to reach the younger set who were on pills/drugs-hippie types.

There was no way they would have approached a traditional church setting w/the fancy church clothes & the more "straight" style.

So Chuck reached out to them w/a non-traditional approach-not in a scripture sense but in regards to the clothes/atmosphere sense.

There was a Church they began to meet at in San Diego & someone started complaining that the barefoot hippies were soiling the brand new carpet. Chuck's solution-rip the carpet up.

Most of the Worship music was guitar based (no organ) & the meeting places were wherever it worked out. The teaching basis is on the Bible & we still go through it systematically from Genesis through Revelation in regards to the main service. When we hit Revelation then it's back to Genesis-over & over. The main thing you would notice is there is still no formal dress code-left over from the Jesus Movement.

So people who don't like to dress up come casual-even shorts & other people dress up. It's a real mix. (This didn't bother me one way or another but D.H. definitely had to get used to it.)

Other bible studies pick which books of the bible to study randomly & not in order. For example in the small group we studied Revelation w/the John Mac Arthur commentary & now we are going to do Ruth w/some type of commentary.

Their teaching absolutely stresses knowing the Bible & is non-replacement theology. The Bible is taken literally unless it's obvious not to. They would be considered the dreaded word "Fundamentalists".

Baptism is done when you're old enough to make a decision for Christ as was customary in the Bible. They dedicate babies/young children (if you want to) to God-but that just publicly confirms that the child will be raised as a Christian & praying that they would have a lifelong service to Christ.

Calvary is similar w/other denominational groups-belief in the inerrancy of the Bible- Trinity- Virgin Birth- literal 7day Creation,…

I guess that's my general run down.
Calvary Chapel-simply teaching the Bible simply On the CC Costa Mesa link you can listen to Chuck Smith teach.

campsmore said...

I don't know much about Veritas, but I've spoken to home-ed mom's with teaching degrees who all believe Saxon students score lower and are traditionally behind their peers.

I remember the hoopla behind the BJU, but the curriculum is free from that kind of thing. Most teachers begin their class by prayer and remind the students to pray for fellow students/families. We found the classes refreshing, interesting and informative. The only drawback we found is the language teacher. My son had the same teacher for HS language. He didn't like her, she has a way of bragging w/o bragging, if that makes any sense? She would start speaking in French or German as part of class. My son actually said, "No wonder she's not married!"

As for Alpha Omega, let's just say, 10 books per subject times 5 subjects = 50 books, need I say more?

Abeka is good if your children begin the program super early. It moves too far, too fast for my learners and with their peers; parents found kids tested well, but didn't remember a thing 2 weeks later. So if you're kids are going to start and end in Abeka, they might be okay. Don't try to start up in 3nd+ grade. I'd prefer for my kids to score a little lower and have solid knowledge of what they're learning.

as a caveat even emergent church philosophy is starting to take hold in the Calvary movement as well. if you are a cessationist as regards speaking in tongues the Calvary movement is not for you. After careful research, although they likely would not appreciate the comparison or conclusion, they are Baptists that speak in tongues :-) I would note Chuck Smith came out of or was somewhat influenced by the 4 square gospel movement.

we were thinking of attending our local Calvary chapel pending who we got for a pastor. our new pastor is very sound so we have not felt lead to leave at this time

i think something more practical is likely needed for math.

as to the number of books-our son loves to read so it might be ok. we'll have to see. sounds as if some of the stuff from BJ is visual?

yes I know what you mean about the bragging thing-it is part of the culture of the school down there to an extent unfortunately. they really did believe and may still believe that they have a lock on truth and in their own superiority. I had a lot of trouble overcoming their brain washing as regards mainstream denominations-to hear them tell it there isn't any one outside baptist churches who are Christians. odd when they are ostensibly non denominational AND the original Bob jones was high methodist. they have a lot of southern cultural things they try to pass off as scriptural as well. it was an interesting 2 years.

thanks for the information. I'll be sure to look at some of this stuff

Math-U-See uses manipulatives to teach the concepts. I wish I'd learned math this way. It gives you a mental picture of what you're really doing.

Rather than 'Just do it this way. Don't ask why.' that we got in school.

Late Night Lisa said...

Jib,

The Christian school in TN used Saxon math. That was good too but a little dry. The workbooks are plain-no color w/the Math Problems on them.

A Beka has color & some cute pictures-at least up to the 3rd grade level. I haven't seen the upper grades. (The designer in me prefers the pictures & color. The straight black & white look - blah.)

Somewhere along the line the Veritas curriculum was also used so Lorraine may have experienced quite a few brands.

The private Christian schools typically choose a variety of the home school curriculum types to use in their teaching format.

Lori is a home school pro & since I've been involved w/the home school moms for only the past 7months - I've learned that they REALLY get into it.

There are Co-op classes here where the Parents volunteer to teach a class & several are offered during the year. The best one Lorraine participated in was a Science class which were totally hands on-really fun projects.

She even made her own hot air balloon out of tissue paper & then filled it up w/gas & let it go up into the air.

Going back to Christian school in the fall- I'm sure she'll miss out on some of the really fun opportunities the Home school kids’ experience.

In regards to Calvary & the gift on tongues- I wish they would be more open about it.

Our pastor has mentioned privately he prays in tongues but has not really brought it up much as far as teaching.

So if you are led to ask the Lord for that gift then my experience is that you really have to search those out who also have it. In my small group study I am the only one with that gift.

It was brought up last month @ our study the response was split into cautious/neutral/ & optimistically curious. One of the gals wanted to hear what the prayer language sounded like. I took a look at the group leader & her eyes opened so wide she looked like a dear in the headlights so I refrained from doing so.

It's just so ridiculous that Christians are so over-the-board on this subject. If you have a relationship with Christ & the Holy Spirit leads you to ask for a spiritual gift- do you really think that God would steer you wrong? What kind of faith is that?

I praise the Lord the Calvary group at least believes & allows the Lord to move in regards to the Spirit & gifts of the Spirit.

Personally if given the choice between a Methodist or Pentecostal-I'd definitely choose the latter.

Lighthouse Trails Research has some articles on the Emergent philosophy moving into the Calvarias. Where I go this has not happened but we all need to keep check on this & make sure it doesn't sneak into our Churches.

Calvary makes a specific point of not causing divisions in the Body of Christ over doctrinal beliefs like so many other denominations do.

This is part of their mission statement:

•We are not a denominational church, nor are we opposed to denominations as such, only their over-emphasis of the doctrinal differences that have led to the division of the Body of Christ.

Off topic-sorry, I just thought this was interesting. I came across this article "The Socialization of America". Has anyone ever heard of Dr. David A Noebel before? A great article, plus you can hear a speech of the same article on youtube if you were to just search his name under "Health Care Rally", part 1-3"

Some excerpts:

"Russian thinker and author Fyodor Dostoyevsky offered the following take on socialism: “The future kingdom of socialism will be a terrible Tyranny of criminals and murderers. It will throw humanity into a true hell of spiritual suffering and poverty.”"

"Socialist George Bernard Shaw added: “You would be forcibly fed, clothed, lodged, taught, and employed whether you liked it or not. If it were discovered that you had not character and industry enough to be worth all this trouble, you might possibly be executed in a kindly manner.”"

"That’s probably why Margaret Thatcher added that the “problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.”"

"In other words, socialism is an economic system that downplays the individual in favor of the group, social order, or the State. It is a system in which the State directs the economic activity of the social order through central planning and by placing economic activity under the jurisdiction of the State. Socialism is also known as collectivism or Statism and, to Marx, Communism."

article here: http://www.augustreview.com/news_commentary/general/the_socialization_of_america_20090701124/

I just think this whole thing with Cap and Trade, Health Care, Hate crimes legislation, and the entire financial mess we are in is bring about the control the progressives desire. It seems our country is moving so fast in line with the NWO and getting closer of being taken over under the OWG via the Anti-Christ-ie: Tribulation period. I don't know about how everyone else feels, but scripturally speaking, I think the Rapture is very close.

Hi! Finally have some time to make some comments about the Sabbath, Babylon, etc.

Like those of you on this blog, Seventh-day Adventists believe Jesus is coming very soon. In fact, we have made Jesus’ second advent part of our name!

In Revelation 14:6-11, three angels proclaim a last-day message.

Rev. 14: 7says, “Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.”

Note that these are almost the same words as is in the fourth commandment!--“For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it (Ex. 20:11).

In Rev. 14:9-11, a terrible pronouncement is made against those in Babylon, which means “confusion”. It says in part, “If any man worship the beast and his image…The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God…”

God’s wrath against Babylon is so great, that we don’t want anyone to suffer the consequences of false worship. We want to call people to follow Jesus, submit to His will and worship Him the way He asks us to.

Jesus appeals to those who are in Babylon—“Come out of her [Babylon], my people that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues” (Rev. 18:4).

Notice, Jesus is referring to “my people.”

Right after the warning of the three angels, in verse 12 it says “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”

In fact, in two other places in Revelation it talks about keeping God’s commandments…

“And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ” (Rev. 12:17).

Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city (Rev. 22:14).

Seventh-day Adventists want people to come back to the true worship of God as He has outlined in the Bible so simply and beautifully in the ten commandments—the foundation of God’s government.

Forgive me...I deleted the comment above because a silly typo.

Lisa, you asked about Jesus leaving out the "Sabbath" commandment in the NT.

Jesus affirmed the Sabbath by keeping it...it was a given that Sabbath was the day of worship for God's people. He went to church on the Saturday Sabbath, as did every other Jew. It was a non-issue.

If the Sabbath is good enough for Jesus, it is good enough for me!

The EU’s foreign policy chief, Javier Solana, enraged the Israelis by calling for the UN Security Council to set a deadline for recognition of a Palestinian state regardless of whether the Israelis and Palestinians reach agreement among themselves.
The recognition, he said, should include border parameters, refugees, control over the city of Jerusalem and security arrangements. There is little love between Solana and hardline Israeli leaders. Former Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon once told Solana that the EU should stay away from efforts to solve the Palestinian problem and should let Israel deal with its own affairs. Solana countered that Israel “had to deal with the EU whether he liked it or not.” One of Israel’s ways of getting back at Solana for his intervention was to declare - through proxy writers - that he is the Antichrist. " The report, in fact, was complementary to reports issued earlier this month by Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and the International Committee of the Red Cross " In March this year, Solana declared: “Let me say very clearly that the European Union will relate to an (Israeli) government only if it is committed to a two-state solution.” Israel is now charging that the Europeans are ganging up against it."

Vicki, the Sabbath subject is complex. I appreciate (not necessarily agree with) some of “Chuck Missler’s” points on this. Note his caveats about the early church in the article.
