1 Peter 1:6-9

1Pe 1:6 In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials,

1Pe 1:7 so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

1Pe 1:8 and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,

1Pe 1:9 obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.

not sure how to answer your question without being inflammatory. My comment was badly phrased and wasn't meant to solely caution you but people in general to not go down that road because we don't need to go there. I guess I got the idea from the way you phrased your response to Jim C but sorry if I offended as I didn't mean to single you in particular out.

A NEW REVOLUTION IN IRAN? Reformers are on the streets

Late Night Lisa said...

GT,

"Perhaps some of us can help with your frustration?"

How about a 3 hour spa treatment?

Seriously though, I just wish we could all realize our individual burdens & gifts from the Lord & be open to where He is leading us individually & collectively in this group.

We all know each other fairly well I'd say. At least we should, right?
(It's harder through cyberspace than in person but it's been a couple years-at least.)

That's were my frustration stems from. (Not in God's timing or control type of thing. I know that's always perfect.)

Maybe it's something we can think about and work on? Having unity in our diversity.

1 Cor 12:4-6 "There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works in all...."

7.) But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:

8-10) For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of Knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kind of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

11.)But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

We could all do so much more in the fullness of Christ if we broke down our individualized barriers and worked in an open & loving way toward one another in the Spirit.

Shouldn't we be able to do this? Or do you think it's something we have already attained & I'm missing the mark?

Anyway, that's it in a nutshell. Melanie's been sick & has the infamous "barf bowl" so I better attend to my motherly duties.

What is going on in Iran is really something to behold. Did anyone here read "Inside the Revolution" by Rosenburg?

With a million people taken to the streets I'm wondering what he said in it now.

Joel Richardson even linked one of Rosenburg's articles on his site-which suprised me.

I read it shortly after it came out and I think Jim C read it as well. It is divided into three sections essentially along the lines of the title. The first group think Islam is the answer and jihad is the way (the radicals), the second group (the reformers) think Islam is the answer but jihad is not the way and the last group (the revivalists) don't think islam is the answer and they think Christ is the way.

Not much information that was new to me in the first section. We've all been following what Joel has been saying for about 2 years or so now and there was some new information on the Christians but the group and the section I was most blown away by was the middle group. It is this middle group that will survive the rapture and the war of Gog and Magog and one can see the future of what will happen with these folks under the AC. Reading about the reformers in light of future events was most illuminating to say the least.

Morning, all,
Found this interesting article about the Iranian situation...lots of good points about BOO being increasingly exposed and the isolation of Israel.
At first, when I heard that Bibi had caved to the 2-state idea, I felt defeated. But I've since read some commentaries (including Joel's) that show how he has placed the idea within a context that actually shows the true intentions of the PA, etc. Seems more like a clever chess move than a folded hand now.
Here's the article about Iran:
Oh dear, how inconvenient for the White House

I just watched The Volcano Erupts. This was interesting. Here you have a country that swears it hates the "west." Yet, although this is a country that speaks Farsi, those signs were in English and by the clothing you could see the "western" influence on these people.

At first I thought I was watching a demonstration in Europe or America.

Clearly they are trying to engage the "west" with the posters and English dialog.

I can't answer for anyone else, but my "all too human" thoughts get in way too many times. I would do well to check myself more before I jump in too quickly! I do however get promptings when something does not seem quite right. I don't know if all these can be called barriers (what may seem like a barrier may be a "check" in someones spirit). As you say we are different and need the input of all the others. This is sometimes the way that God may be getting His point across to us and we must be open to it. I don't think any of us has obtained perfection, and will not in this present existence.

We certainly can (and should) work toward being more open and loving in the Spirit. One thing I must say though, considering the various backrounds here we have done well when there have been differences compared to some of the other blogs I have seen. May God continue to grow us to completion as He has promised in His Word!

If anyone is weak in faith then by all means we should pray for them.

There is a difference between personally not being interested in a topic (for whatever reason) & a topic causing one to stumble in their faith of God.

I really don't personally relate to that because I have yet to be so greatly effected by any type of spiritual subject matter that it would actually affect my faith. The Bible does mention some are weak in faith-so I definitely believe it's true for some.

Up until this point I have not heard anyone mention a "weak faith" or "stumbling" comment here.

But it doesn't really matter for He knows all of our intents and the motivations of our hearts.

I rather be in an open & loving dialogue w/these issues & all topics but apparently that's not in the cards @ this point with some of you.

When those of you have worked out your "stumbling" topic concerns on the Alien/UFO disclosure agenda then let me know & we can pick up on this dialogue & figure it out together in Christ.

Otherwise-I'll just post on other subjects for now. Hopefully the Mirco-chip issue is OK since I came across an interesting article on that today.Cash to become extinct as chips take off

Late Night Lisa said...

Jib,

"not caring to discuss a topic is not equivalent to not respecting a persons call to study a topic."

In the secular world I find that to be true & agree.

But to truly love your brothers & sisters "in Christ" you would sacrifice your personal preferences in order to show a higher Love for one another realizing that it's God Himself who has created our individuality, variety, and diversity.

It’s not as if we are books on a shelf here but real live souls.

We should strive to love each other as we love ourselves.

Late Night Lisa said...

Donna,

The UFO/Nephilim are real supernatural demonic beings & not a "theory". They are real & are exposing themselves more as time goes on. (Ask someone who's been abducted if they still believe it's a theory.)

The only "theory" is if/how they will play out in the End Times.

Christians have wedged their heads in the sand deeper on this one than the study of Biblical Prophecy. (As would be expected.)

Lisa has offered to do this with her links, so, personally, I don’t see a problem. I find some of them interesting while others I ignore.

Actually, I don’t mind the odd conspiracy theory – like Obie being Carpathia – and still visit Constance Cumbey’s site occasionally. I’m finding that I’m less interested in these topics nowadays while others still are.

We’ve had many squabbles over different subjects: Tongues; WOF; Catholicism; Rapture timing/forecasting; UFOs/nephilim. Did I leave something out? I’ve been involved in some of the above discussions and have said things I’d like to take back. I’m concerned that this is happening here again.

I know I need to practise discernment in different areas and focus much more on the Lord. Maybe we all do. Let’s not chase each other away.

Donna,

It was interesting how Todd compartmentalized 7 ways of end time prophecy "thinking".

It was as if he was saying My way is the best way & the rest of you-well-are pretty flawed.

The first 5 I could identify-not really the last two-but I've seen the outlooks before.

The problem is that I don't think most people fit into just one of his stated categories.

Some Christians seem to specialize in one more than another-like those who study biblical numerology-biblical astrology-ect...

And as in everything-if we only look at one way of thinking & exclude all the other ways God has gifted us with-then we miss out on what everyone can contribute to the big picture.

Our creator has provided us with ALL these diverse ways of thinking.

What he labels as "Conspiracy" (in a mocking sarcastical tone no less) I think of more in terms of discerning spiritual warfare in the supernatural realm. (discernment of spirits.) There are Christians who specialize in this area-as you well know. And it gets WAY deeper than anything I've ever mentioned here. (Some of the things I've learned even shocked my own comfort level quite honestly.)

The Christians who study this area tend to be much more open & encouraging. I also find them to be fierce defenders of literal Biblical truths & not off into some allegorical/replacement type of thinking at all.

In his 7 categories I also fall into the "literal" more than the others (but not exclusively) but I also appreciate and listen to other Christians who have something to say from the other areas.

The problem I find with his article is that while he claims all the other ways of thinking go overboard-he is doing the exact same thing with his own "Literal" category. He's so focused on what he's personally comfortable with in his "literal" column that he prefers to stay away from everyone else. He intern does the exact same thing he claims the others are doing.

I just don't think that is how God intended us to relate to one another or we wouldn't have all these various areas of Biblical knowledge nor be blessed with a variety of spiritual gifts.

BTW-That's my big gripe w/Joel Richardson's blog. They are so focused on only seeing the "Islam" aspect of end times that they ignore what anyone else has to add.

Take Chuck Missler for example. He studies a wide variety of topics & then presents some pretty good balanced conclusions to what he's researched.

God's Chisel Skit

The theory over @ "cutting edge" is that the Govt untimate goal though this financial mess is to get the banking/auto/insurance under Govt control but not to collapse the system. So it should eventually rebound. (Illuminiti view)

Andrew Strom is looking at it from a God's judgment standpoint & wrote a book called "Surving the Depression." I get the feeling he thinks it will get worse.

So for whatever it's worth here are some charts Strom sent out today:

So, how about this for a frightening scenario:

Remember Operation Blackjack, from the UK Telegraph? "the story of a series of terrorist nuclear attacks on major western cities and the aftermath." The fifth and last part showed the new US government secretly planting a nuke in Boston to galvinate the people, stop the protesting of the illegitimate government, refocus on the terrorists, the enemy.

Now read this from the Jerusalem Post:

Iran: We foiled Israeli-linked bomb plot

The Iranian Intelligence Ministry on Thursday claimed to have foiled an Israeli-linked terror plot to plant bombs in mosques and other crowded places in Teheran during last week's presidential election.

"Members of one of the uncovered networks were planning to plant bombs on election day at various crowded Teheran spots, including dozens of polling booths the Ershad and Al-Nabi mosques,"

So, Jim C, I bet you could stretch out this scenario.

Moriel Ministries just sent out their Be Alert Newsletter. There are quite a few insightful articles in this one-And-one that's got me scrutinizing the Calvary Chapel org- even more.

I really hope our Pastor doesn't go down this emergent road. I don't think he would but @ this point not a whole lot would suprise me after my TN experience.

Depending upon how extensive this "falling away" is- it may end up house church or no church. I sure hope not though!

Praise report and prayer request.

1.) I've had Type 1 diabetes since 1976. Type 1 is sometimes called juvenile onset diabetes. It means a person produces no insulin so the diabetes must be controlled with daily insulin injections. I just went to the eye doctor today for a comprehensive eye exam that was a couple years overdue. As a diabetic, they recommend I get one every year. Anyway, once again, the doctor looked in my eyes and reported that he sees absolutely no evidence of diabetes. That is miraculous and I attribute it to God's grace in my life. Thank you Lord. I also have better than 20/20 vision in both eyes and am almost 45 years old.

2.) Work has been very stressful because I work for state goverment and the division I work in is scheduled to have significant layoffs. I very easily could be one of them despite the fact that I have almost 10 years of service with the state. Anyway, my boss has engaged in some behavior that I believe is questionable, unethical, and self-serving. She got wind of that fact today and let me know that she is "furious" with me. I think the fury is in large part due to the fact that it is not behavior that she would want publicly exposed or questioned.

There is another position that I am very qualified for and plan to apply for. I am just so rattled, that I need the Lord's peace right now so that I can fill out this application and turn it in tomorrow. I also am asking the Lord for wisdom on how to handle the situation with my current boss. It is hard for me to be objective about it because I feel offended and mistreated. She doesn't know the Lord though and but for the grace of God, I'd be just as lost. I want to defend myself but maybe the best thing is to just keep my head low until I get this other position if it be the Lord's will (I strongly believe it is but I have been wrong before -- haven't we all?).

I must confess that I feel like I brought this on myself in part because I shared my concerns with two coworkers two days ago after work in the parking lot. One of them clearly told my boss because she knew of that conversation. I shouldn't have said anything to those coworkers though we were talking about ethical and political abuses that we were observing. Though true, I believe it still qualifies as gossip which is sin. So, I'm confessing that to you who understand and are my brothers and sisters.

Anyway, I covet your prayers regarding this.

We know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is God-fearing and does His will, He hears him.
John 9:31

Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
James 5:16

Of course, if you ask her and you DON'T get the job, anything you say against her could be considered the talk of a disgruntled employee, assuming there's no other hard evidence available.

Jim G,

That work situation is the pits. I suppose the best thing to do was to confront your boss privately
1st but- it's kind of awkward confronting a non-Christian verses someone who's a Christian.

If you tell your boss privately-without a witness-then he/she may retaliate & twist what you say & there is no one to back you up.

You mention it to your co-workers & at least one of them goes blabbing it back to that boss.

We can really get ourselves in a mess can't we? Well, you’re doing the right think in trusting in the Lord to get you out of it.

I need urgent and immediate prayer for my daughter. She has been dating a youth pastor. He is a horrible person. The symptoms of an emotionally abusive relationship are very prevalent. And now that she has been approached, she was ready to leave for sanctuary away from him, he has made contact.

He has her convinced that everything was her fault. He has her convinced that she ran to him for love and acceptance when she should have run to God. That was true at one time. This is no longer a valid point. He uses her past against her, he tells her she's conniving and manipulative.

At 3 o'clock this morning she was on the phone with him while he screamed at her on the phone. We were in her room and I was shocked at his words.

I had to involve their pastor, even though, the young man warned me not to. (He told me not to involve the pastor, and when I told him I was, he told me he would see to it that that wouldn't happen.)

The pastor's response is that they're two consenting adults and he can make recommendations, but he really doesn't think this person would hurt my daughter. I called the pastor's wife and appealed to her as a wife and mother and she said she said "we can only pray and give her to God." I felt like saying, "I've got a gun and I'm about to give this young man to God." (Oh, to live in TX)

I'm in a complete state of shock.

I've plead the blood of Jesus over her mind; bound the spiritual darkness that seems to have wrapped around her thoughts.

Please pray in agreement with us that God will open her eyes and deliver her out of this entire situation.

Lori,
I am praying for your daughter tonight. I have felt the urgency in your request. Have asked our Lord to protect your dear one as only He can, as only her Father can. Have asked Him to set free her mind and to protect her from his lies. I have asked the Lord to send someone to confront this young man as it is apparent that the pastor will not stand up to him as he should. I am so sorry that this is happening. Please keep us updated.

Lori,

Praying for your daughter & the young man.

Jred posted a little article about the Marriage Supper of the Lamb & then there were some comments regarding if it was in Heaven or on Earth. Jred thought the timing was after the final Bowl of Wrath.

When I've read about it-the timing had never quite made sense to me & I came to the conclusion that it was not immediately @ the beginning of the Trib because that would exclude the other saints to be martyred (Would they be left out?)and where it's located in the book of Rev.

Someone wrote in a final comment and said that the confusion is in that there are two Suppers which parallels the traditions of the Jewish wedding feast.

Here is the final comment:

Hi Jeff! The Wedding Supper of the Lamb does take place in heaven, the Marriage Supper is a different event, and takes place on earth as described by Worthy1. They are 2 different events, that have 2 different purposes.
Even a fairly cursory study of Jewish wedding customs clarifys the entire process, from the beginning, when the bride is selected, through the groom's preparations in his father's house,to the groom's coming to get his bride, by surprise, at a late hour, to the supper they eat togther, and are alone with limited guests for 7days, to their marriage supper that comes after the 7 day private feast, when all the guests are invited.
When the understanding of Jewish wedding procedures, are laid against the Scripture, BOTH events can clearly be seen, and their differences understood and accounted for.

One of the main reasons for not understanding the two different suppers, is that gentiles, particularly in these times, are largely unaware of the procedures that accomanied Jewish life when the Scriptures were written. Marriage then, and marriage now, are NOT the same. To put our modern customs into our interpretation, has a net affect, of us not completely understanding what is being said in Scripture, and the context that make CLEAR interpretation possible.
This link:HEREis just one example, of many available, that outline the customs that were fulfilled by Jesus the first time He came, and those that await fulfillment.Studies such as these, give so much extra detail and life to the process we are undergoing as members of the Bride of Jesus Christ. We have found study in this area to be profoundly helpful, and faith increasing!!
Maranatha!!!

Anyway-I haven't gone through the entire link but it sure sounds logical. If anyone reads it-let me know what you think.

Lori, I don't know much about church protocol, but I wonder if you should talk with one of the elders of the church...or someone else in authority. If I had a child involved in this church's youth group and knew what you know about its youth pastor, I would be alarmed and immediately remove that child! It seems that the senior pastor isn't doing his job of caring for a vulnerable part of his flock.

I'm praying for your daughter, too.

Lori
praying for you daughter. what an unfortunate and I might add unscriptural response from the pastor and his wife. at the very least this young man should be put on leave from his duties I would think. again unfortunately there are many in the church who don't see an issue with abuse of this type. I recently saw a book on the matter written by a Christian woman on her journey from abuse out and part of the issue was the church and their lack of support, how she should just accept the abuse as many felt it was her fault etc.

I don't know if this was posted here or not, or if I was told this by one of the other deacons at our church, but I was recently told about a young girl who was abused by one of the elders of the church for sometime-the family considered him a surrogate grandfather. the abuse started when she was 10 or so and now she is a teen. when the police arrested him they found all sorts of filth on his computer (pornography of children and other stuff) and yet the church has shunned this family saying it's he said she said (despite the hundreds of text messages found where he is clearly the instigator etc)that she started it and led him on and things of this sort. I was stunned and incredulous at the response of this church.

And the church wonders why those in the world want nothing to do with us. After the above two examples I don't wonder.

jib said...

I had wondered the same thing

campsmore said...

Anne and Jib,

I do not attend the same church. I asked my daughter about elders, she said they don't have any, just a church board.

(If I may remove myself emotionally for a moment) From a legal perspective it sure wouldn't look good for the church if something worse were to happen to my daughter and the senior pastor knew of the threat ahead of time.

I'm am grateful for God's protection.

At our church, we've had 2 pastors dismissed in the last year for sexual immorality. One was an older man who had been with the church for decades, the pastor of visitation, who ironically also led the local men's recovery group for sexual addiction. The other was a youth pastor who had been with the church for several years.
It really took a toll on the leadership but we felt they handled it very soundly. There was public disclosure of the necessary details, specific sermons on the topics of gossip, forgiveness and restoration and counseling sessions provided for those who were most affected. I could see how Satan was trying to attack 2 groups that would be greatly affected by these particular pastors falling from grace. The older pastor worked with the community and once his hypocrisy was revealed, it not only affected the congregation, but also many outside the church who now would be skeptical of fellowshipping with Christians because of it. The bigger attack I felt was against the youth. Most of them viewed their pastor as their mentor and he was so well-liked among them. At a time when they were vulnerable...breaking away from their parents more and deciding what to cling to outside of that shelter, to have this man be so duplicitous was a real crisis in those families. The kids were reeling, almost mourning and the parents were caught between anger and demonstrating the command to forgive. You could tell that it was a battle to see if the flesh would win or if Christ was going to be submitted to and allowed to do the sorting out and healing.
Another thing I've noticed is how the church is having to put so much time and effort into covering themselves from litigation now. I signed up to volunteer for VBS and I have to get state police child abuse clearances and criminal profile reports before I can participate. My mother-in-law had to do the same to help with the MOPs group at church this year (she was just babysitting the toddlers while the moms were upstairs at meetings for a few hours once a month.) And at the kids' preschool, teachers aren't allowed to help them in the bathroom now if they need cleaned up because there's the chance that Johnny might go home and tell his mommy that his teacher was touching him inappropriately. Unbelievable! As a mom, I couldn't abide by that rule so I did help the little ones on several occasions when they were in need. How can you possibly expect a three-year old to get himself cleaned up? The other teachers would call the parents to come and do it or just let the child pull his pants up and be messy. A complete rejection of common sense, but that's what happens I guess with the spreading reach of litigation. My doctor told me it's all about CYA now when she was giving me the worst case scenarios for my prognosis.

On that happy note...Blessings!
Jen

Jen said...

Hey Lori,
Just read your comment. As I just posted, the church might want to think about the open door this situation would be for litigation. If they don't care about anything else, perhaps they would pay attention to that potential threat against them. I have zero legal expertise, but I can imagine a situation where a parent finds out about an abusive leader, then finds out that the church had already been made aware of that abuse toward another person and this pastor was allowed to continue in his role...that alone might be enough for a parent to make a charge. Our church said that the VBS volunteers needing clearances was to demonstrate that they had made a good faith effort to screen their staff AHEAD OF TIME so if something were to happen, they would be able to show that they didn't just let people come in off the street to work with the kids. Also, make sure to document/record your interactions whenever possible. I used to keep a notepad with me at school where I would jot down notes about student interactions so I could backup my work to administrators later on, just in case.

Keeping your family in prayer,
Jen

OK,

Now that I just checked this link you you'll have to see this one:
God's Holy MountainThis is a vision about transforming the Temple Mount from a place of contention to truly God's Holy Mountain, a house of prayer for all people (Isaiah 56:7). It represents the prophecy of Zechariah 14:9 of the One God worshipped by the entire world in peace together.

In light of a Painting shown:
"It is a normal future day on the Temple Mount (الحرم الشريف) in Jerusalem. Jews, Muslims and Christians, entering through the Gate of Mercy, are waiting for services to begin, respectively, at the Temple, at the Dome of the Rock and the Al Aqsa Mosque, and at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Friends of all three religions and from around the world greet each other, and some gather around an informal group of musicians from the three faiths who are playing together. The Temple Mount has shed the remnants of destruction and conflict left by the Roman Empire and is once again is a joyous place, in which all worship in their respective holy buildings, but bearing witness to the same One God, creator of all."

(So I guess it's keep your existing faith but realize everyone is actually worshipping the same god.)

If you read on in the painting section it explains how they could expand the size of the Temple Mount as prophesied in the Bible's stated dimensions.

Homesick for God

The woman left her water jar beside the well and went back to the village and told everyone, "Come and meet a man who told me everything I ever did! Can this be the Messiah?" So the people came streaming from the village to see him. John 4:28-30 NLT

How many people have you made homesick for God?
Oswald Chambers (1874-1917)

Spread the good news

The Samaritan woman was so amazed by Jesus and his revelations about who he was and about the secrets of her heart and life that she forgot her water jar—the very reason she'd come to the well—and rushed back to the village to tell others about the "man" she had met. Up and down the streets she shared the good news about Jesus, for she had seen the Lord, the Messiah! Having received the living water, a perpetual spring within her that gave her eternal life (v. 14), she wanted others to know him too. So the people began streaming from the village to see him, eager to meet this incredible man who told people the secrets of their hearts.

Sharing with others what Jesus had done in us and for us stirs up interest in those who don't know him. His revelation in our lives draws to him people who desire to have him work in their lives as he does in ours. With whom could you share the Good News today? Ask the Lord to make you sensitive to his working in the lives of others, and be ready to share the hope that's within you.

LORD, forgive me for times when my excitement over knowing you has waned. I want others to know you and experience your work in their lives. Use me to spread the Good News. I pray that I will be so amazed by what you reveal to me today that I won't hesitate to share my hope with those who don't yet know you.

those articles on the Ark were quite interesting even if it did take me forever to figure out how to get the one trasnlated one to cooperate to be readable. hah.

a couple of interesting things
1-there was a figure quoted in our newest sunday school class that only 51% of protestant pastors fully and completely believed a list of 7 or so core tenenants of Christianity-how sad is that. our pastor who was in the back then said he thought it was rather less than 10% in the PCUSA. how awful. the beliefs were quite basic and were those originally felt to be the fundementals of the faith that the fundementalists rallied around in reaction to-a social gospel. go figure. in that day and time some in the church espoused the liberal causes of their day and the fundementalists reacted and thus a whole new movement was born. seems history is repeating itself or at least one hopes so
2-the other interesting statement is that we can't change the culture without changing people's world view and made the distinction that while a Christian worldview is based on correct doctrine it really isn't about doctrine. it answers the questions who am I, what am i here for etc. should be an interesting class. I have been meaning to google the author's name to see what else I can discover.
interestingly enough I had wanted to lead a group on culture which actually comes out of worldview so I guess this fall I may be leading a class. pray with me over this.

Is God concerned about our pain?

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those who are crushed in spirit. The righteous face many troubles, but the Lord rescues them from each and every one. Psalm 34:18-19 NLT

Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God for his own sins! But he was wounded and crushed for our sins. He was beaten that we might have peace. He was whipped, and we were healed! All of us have strayed away like sheep. We have left God's paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the guilt and sins of us all.

Crying ones

Through the pain and sorrow of Christ's experiences on earth, God has experienced the depths of human grief.

Hi everyone! I haven't been here for awhile, so it will take some time for me to catch up, reading all of the links and all. However, I am reading all of the posts. Man! You all are going at it very quickly!
I do enjoy listening to what everyone is saying. I think everyone has something valuable to add to the conversation. Good points to think about.
I know I will probably catch it for this, but I do believe in conspiracy theories. Conspiracy to bring about a world government. I do believe these people are playing into the hands of satan, as he is using them to bring about his time on earth. G-d will allow him his time, so we will see it happen. grailcode.net has a lot on the coming together of the occult, illuminati, and new age to promote a one-world religion. It also talks a lot about Prince William and Prince Charles. Their coat of arms is rather spooky and their goals of uniting world religions is something to take note of. They also believe they are the bloodline of Christ via lineage of David and merovingian (?) bloodline. The imaginary bloodline that Christ fathered children and they are descended from that. And I thought the Davinci code was a fairy tale! They really believe that stuff!
Jim G. I am praying for peace for you on your job. You know a cockroach doesn't like the light and you exposed one to light. (Not necessarily the person, but their actions) I wouldn't feel guilt for standing for what is right. These people in this generation want everyone to feel guilty for standing for truth. That lets them off the hook.
Funny joke Jib!
Campsmore, will pray for your daughter. I have a step daughter who was going through a similar experience. I went to a website and downloaded the notes on what an abusive relationship is. I gave it to her. She waited a few weeks to read it. After she read it, they broke up for a period of time, but now sheis back with him. She is now aware the situation is abusive and she has to make her own decisions, but we are praying for her. At least she isn't walking into it blindly. I really don't expect it to last. You can't possibly want to stay in something you know is wrong.... the website is emotional abuse Hope it helps!

Q. I have a question concerning the Ark of the Covenant (I bet you get plenty). I remember reading somewhere that the High Priest would remove the Ark from the Holy of Holies during an evil king’s reign and then return it during a righteous Kings reign. 2 Chronicles chapter 29 hints at this. Was this a common practice? If so, would that indicate a “hiding” place somewhere other than the Temple itself?

I heard Israel’s last righteous king Josiah had the Ark returned to the Temple during his reign as well, yet I haven’t found the supporting scripture. These items are not listed as part of the inventory given of what the Babylonians carried off. Could these items have been hidden and not destroyed with the temple?

A. While 2 Chron 29 mentions implements from the altar that had been removed, there is no specific reference to the Ark. Personally I don’t think the Ark was moved because unless God wanted it moved, any one who touched it risked death. Later King Josiah had the Temple restored and consecrated for use, but again there’s no mention of the Ark in the account.

There is a Jewish tradition that Jeremiah was instructed by God to hide the Ark in advance of the Babylonian conquest so that Nebuchadnezzar wouldn’t get it, and that’s the last time it was seen.

Some believe that a group of priests took it to Elephantine Island which sits in the Middle of the Nile River about 650BC, (the remnants of a Jewish Temple have been found there) and then to Ethiopia where it rests today in a Coptic Church. Others say it’s hidden in Mt. Nebo in Jordan. Still others believe its in a secret chamber underneath the Temple mount. But it’s clear it wasn’t destroyed, and wasn’t taken to Babylon. To this day, no one has offered any conclusive proof that its location has been discovered.

There are about as many theories on what happened to the ark as there are ways to serve french fries.

Salted, unsalted, chili, cheese, chili and cheese, ketchup, BBQ sauce... you name it.

Anyway, one thing I read, and I wish I knew where, mentioned that the Bible refers to it as the Ark of the Covenant in some areas and after a certain time, just the ark.

Now, is it because it was a duplicate? Only God knows. But it wasn't impossible to move. It was stolen by a group once and after the entire people were smitten by a plague of hemmoroids, did they return it. They made idols, 5 in the shape of hemmoroids and 5 shaped like mice, put them on a brand new cart with the ark and sent it back from whence it came, via some milch cows never used for pulling.

Some translations read boils instead of hemmoroids, but knowing how painful a hemmoroid is, I'd put my money on the hemmoroids. Wow, that sounds weird.

Alright, Lori,
I just spent an hour reading the account in 1 Sam of the plague sent upon the Philistines (in KJV), then researching the term 'emerods' which is used in that translation, then reading this article on the etymology of 'emerod' which sounds like 'hemmoroid' but because of the mouse connection, might be indicative of Bubonic plague. Either way....awful awful stuff!

Please keep Ed Thomas and his family in your prayers. He is the high school coach in Parkersburg, Iowa, who was shot this morning. I just heard he died.

If the name "Parkersburg" sounds familiar, that is the town in Iowa that was almost wiped off the map a little over a year ago, just before the floods. They've done an amazing job of rebuilding in this past year -- a real feel-good story.

Jim C

Anne
I know Grany is taking a sabbatical. Donna spoke for herself. i can't speak for anyone else. I've just flat out been busy for the last several days and I'm 2 Lori's links behind! I also managed to wrench my back so all I want to do after working is sit with my feet up in my recliner. I'm going to a DO this afternoon, who is also a licensed massage therapist, and I am hoping she can do something for the cause. DH gave me one of those shiatsu chair massagers which I used last night and now my back is bruised to boot!

we will be going on vacation with my family in the near future. I have some anxiety about this. we haven't been with the full family since 2000-which is when my back injury first occured after my brother grabbed the back of my neck and I had to struggle to get away. the incident caused some serious discussions and issues in the family especially with my parents. we have visited with them several times since then but not stayed in the same place as them since then. we will all be in the same house so I am a smidge anxious.

Jamie, Shalom! I first heard about Dr. Grant Jeffry's account of the Ark in his book "Mysteries of the Bible" (which I really need to find a copy and buy.) His account (of the Ark being moved to Ethiopia) struck me as very reasoned and possible. Then I read "The Temple At The End of Time." The Catholic view is that the Ark is buried in Mt. Nebo, as described in 2 Maccabees. It was hidden in a cave, but was done in such haste that the location wasn't noted and so it remains hidden. When I read "Temple", I was amazed to discover the numeric relationship between Mt. Nebo and the Temple Mount.

So, it could be that the Ark in Aksum is a copy; it could be that the Ark in Aksum is the real Ark and the copy was buried in Mt. Nebo; OR (I'll wait while you all put on your conspiracy hats) the original was taken from Aksum as described by Dr. Jeffry in his book, and then taken by the Israeli commandos across the border into Jordan to be hidden in Mt. Nebo.

Think about it: Fundamentalist Christians tend to be the ones driving the search for the Ark. Since they don't accept 2 Maccabees as scripture they're not going to look in Mt. Nebo. The Jordanians probably won't be interested in authorizing any archeological digs in the area to look for "Jewish artifacts." And the "Third Temple" Jews probably won't want to REALLY push for reconstruction until the Ark is found. In fact, the Israeli government might use that to keep the radicals in check. Sometime after the War of Psalm 83 or after the War of Gog and Magog, when both Temple Mount and Mt. Nebo are in Israeli control, then the Ark can be "discovered", returned to Israel, and the Temple can be rebuilt. Until that time, the Ark is safely being guarded by the Jordanians, who don't know they're guarding it.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled reality...

P.S. Anne, I haven't been posting much because I'm dealing with a great deal of spiritual oppression, attacking me not just directly but through my family. Your prayers will be appreciated. On a positive note, earlier I had written that I had been led to pray that I willingly give up my possessions. At the time I was thinking specifically of my HDTV and maybe my barrister bookshelves. I've come to realize that the possession I hold more dear to my heart isn't either of those, but the books themselves. My personal collection rivals some small town libraries, and in fact was one of the reasons my first wife wanted to marry me.

So I'm busy packing up books -- not all of them, but the great majority -- and will take them to one of the used bookstores in town and get what I can for them. It's been a voyage of discovery, partly in finding books I had forgotten I owned, partly in finding other things. I have an 8-volume collection of Shakespeare that was published in 1901 that I got from my grandmother. She was the first Superintendent of Schools in any city in Iowa. I went through the volumes to make sure there wasn't any money or anything tucked in the pages, and I found letters of recommendation written by her employers (such BEAUTIFUL handwriting!) and her original State Teacher's Certificate from 1911. I'll scan these in and send them to my brothers and sisters.

Jim C, praying for you.

Don't take the books to some used bookstore, especially the Shakespeare collection.
You should sell them on ebay.

Not worth linking to but it made me wonder if perhaps Joel Rosenberg should send BOO a copy of Dead Heat.

Pretty freaky, ain't it?

excellent idea there Jim-you'd definitely get more money if you did that

Well, I might take the Shakespeare in to be appraised.

Hi Jim C- I'm doing the same with my books. I brought in three boxes, hardcover good condition, and only recieved $23. You can also sell your books on Amazon. there is some way you set up your own bookstore. My sister has done that.

I've also sold some clothes- did a little better $85. I also have my piano on e-bay.
