Mat 5:2-11

He opened His mouth and began to teach them, saying,
3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
5 "Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.
6 "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
7 "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
8 "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
9 "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
10 "Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 "Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.

First! And to answer Mr. Hyde's question from the previous posting, no, cheesecake dose NOT count as a pie. As it says in the name, it is a cake.

However, I've seen some box mixes that let you use some kind of pudding mix to make a "cheese-cake filling pie". Since they'd be in a pie tin, then they would count.

Thank you, Grany...from last thread's comment.

I had a particularly moving experience at church today (Calvary Chapel). One of the hymns left me in tears of joy.

I can't see the Lord tarrying too much longer. I can feel it in my bones that we're fast approaching the end of this age.

I make a mean real MEAT pie that won blue ribbons in the Iowa State Fairs during the 40's, 50's and 60's. It is all in what meat (beef) how you prepare it and most of all, the liquor you use in aging the whole mixture. Drunk apples, raisins, oh boy! But before anyone gets ralled up, by the time the pie is made all of the alcohol has gone bye bye. That's my story, and I am sticking with it.
While we are on the subject of food, I tried some new healthy Wraps from Mission. They look like the flour tortillas and the ones I got are cheddar/jalapeno and one of spinach. Oh, they are good with all kinds of yummy things tucked inside.
Good seeing you here Marge and beginning to feel like ole home week again.
I guess I am a little intrepid but it feels pretty good. Sitting around home waiting for mold to sit in just is not my style.
Thanks you Jim C. and I have been wondering about you even though I was absent. You have been being "good" haven't you?
And to close, yes, I feel that same excitement inside of me just thinking about our Lord. He is coming very soon and Mac, tears of Joy = joy unspeakable and full of Glory. He is so very near it is as if we can reach out and touch him.
Hallelujah!

Grany, if you love meat pies, you need to read this entry in the CookRookery blog:

Daniel Wolff, Food Detective

In it, he talks about trying to recreate a meat pie that had been described in one of his favorite children's books, based on clues in the story. I think you'll get a kick out of it.

JIM,
I have eaten this type of meat pie while visiting Tortola in the British Virgin Islands but really didn't care for it. Too British for my taste but it was very attractive and well prepared.

You really need to try the American Mince Meat pie with real meat in it. I tried to find my recipe but that will take some time to do. Or better still, Google Iowa State Fair Mince Meat pie winner and see if that doesn't bring it into being. In the mean time, I will keep looking. I haven't made one for several years now.
But ya have to promise to use the Cognac in making it. Otherwise it just isn't worth the time. Besure to let the Cognac AIR after you add it to the sauce.
Now back to the news. What do you think is going to come about with the Israel/Iran/USA irritation going on right now?
Just curious.

Hi all, so good to see you here, Granny, I always love to read your humor, and wisdom. You are such a dear lady, and I am anxious to meet you and all of the friends who meet here some day soon!

Great Grany 5 said...

Linda Lou,
Hey girl, good to see your name and read your comments. I have missed you too. I will have everyone a snack ready for the great Home Going Party when Jesus gives the "Shout". I plan on going early so I can clear up some 'issues' with a loved friend up there. I am really getting excited and sometimes it just takes all of my willpower to remain a "Lady", ahem!!!!
Jim C. thinks I catch catfish barehanded, chew tobacco and spit, and cuss like a sailor. Well, I will eat catfish in Louisiana when I know where it has come from and I can bait a hook or two but that is about all. As far as chewing tobacco and spitting, oh yuk! Besides I never could spit anything without it going right down my chin and onto my clothes. The only thing I used to do before I was saved was Cuss! Not all of the time but a couple of episodes with a bar of soap and an angry mother cured me of that foray into the obscene.
Now I have to share a "joy" with all of you. I made an appointment to get the rear tires for my car, sneaking around of course because DJH had not noticed the front new ones. The dealer here in my town didn't have the tires that would fit my car on hand, so he was going to order them.
I returned home, disappointed but I had already spent a great deal of time and fussing trying to pray about the whole situation.
DJH was out walking when I arrived back at the house and I decided to call Sam's Club and see if my purchase of the two front tires could be used to get $70 off of the back 2 tires. Yep! But the special was only going to last until 5:30 Tuesday evening.
About that time, DJH stomped into the house, told me he needed the paper work on my new tires so our files were up to date. He had just noticed the new front tires and wondered when I had pulled the magic trick. I told him "Saturday, at Sam's in Ft. Smith."
"Oh, ho, so you went to Ft. Smith without telling me."
"Yep! And if you weren't already committed to that meeting in Ft. Smith on Wednesday (today} we could go today and get the two rear tires for $70 off! The offer ends at 5:30 this evening."
Long story short, he grabbed the keys to my car, we raced to Sam's and HE PAID FOR THE TIRES for me. Praise the Lord, and DJH didn't even fuss one little iota.
Everything I had prayed for regarding those wonderful tires was answered big time and I give God all of the Glory. Then I told DJH the whole story and he just sits and shakes his head.
God is so very good and people, the time of answered prayer is getting quicker and quicker. I mean, within a matter of 20 minutes we were on our way to Ft. Smith, getting tires and no fussing!!!!!

HALLELUJAH, GLORY TO GOD, PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME!!!!!!!

humbly saying thank you now and feeling very blessed by my Abba. He's your ABBA too, you know!!

I could use some prayer and wisdom. have received 2 separate phone calls about my son making girls his age and slightly older uncomfortable by chasing them to hug them and touching them on butt and chest. not entirely certain where he is getting that this is appropriate behavior because we are pretty strict with the tv and what he watches. One incident occurred after we talked about keeping our hands to our selves and he has been told before that private parts are private and not to be touched. We had yet another conversation tonight in which I delineated parts not to be touched and that touching private parts was something that you did when married and was very pleasurable but only when married. he has lost ALL gaming and tv for the weekend and is currently writing I will keep my hands to myself 100 times. any other suggestions. partly draconian because one of the instances occurred after a conversation 2 days ago in which he was told to keep his hands to himself.

jim.carroll said...

Now, Grany, I have NEVER thought that you would cuss like a sailor. I always figured you would cuss like a proper lady, bless your heart.

This was posted by a user named "Highwayman" on Catholic Answers Forum:

When Jesus was 12 he was left behind at the Temple and it took a day for Mary and Joseph to notice. Looking for him they found he was not in the party they had been traveling with. So them I believe it must have taken another day to return to the Temple.
The world has been looking for Jesus almost 2000 years now or two of God's days according to Psalm 90.

This age of Twelve is often the time that a young man is no longer a child but expected to learn the work and duties of a man. This twelve he later would refer to as the 12 hours of work that one does in the light to be known as children of the light.
Are there not 12 hours in the day, so when you have the light walk in the light so that you may become children of the light.

This age of 12 is like a "coming out party" in many cultures for young men and women to be celebrated as a time to enter the community of adults taking part in the total life of the community.

Now some look at Jesus words "as the days of Noah so shall it be in the days of the coming of the Son of Man.

When Mary returned to the Temple and found Jesus she said "why have you done this to us?" His reply was "Did you not know that I must be about my Father's House".

When the days of Noah had been complete and the days of Noah were at an end it was 2006 years from the first Adam to the Death of Noah, and thus were the "Days of Noah"

Now it would appear that is has only been 2000 years from the time that Jesus was 12 until now but wait, remember the calendar is off 6 years and on the end of the 9 day Passover season this year it will be 2006 years from the 12 year old Jesus was found in the Temple and said "Did you not know that I must be about my Father's House".

JIB,
you have my prayers for your son also. My youngest great-grandson had similar problems when the family lived in Missouri and he was always on report. His problem was feeling sorry for anyone that was unhappy or hurt. Hugging shouldn't be such a crime these days.
JIM C., I was never given the chance to learn how to cuss like a lady; too many soap bubbles coming out of my mouth. Wouldn't the Dept. of Human Services have had a field day attacking my mother over that scene? If they were real smart, they would keep very still where her parenting was concerned.
Her methods worked for me but not so well with my younger brother.
Did anyone notice or hear about the Dinner Jacket promising to announce in a couple of days some very interesting and exciting news? By the way, Sean Osbourne has quite an interesting post up regarding the current developments with several nations practicing joint military actions to dispel invasion by foreign elements.

I happened to watch the Dinner Jacket's address to the Iranian people last night on CSPAN and it was very interesting. Seems he has adopted some of our Potus' habits. Putting lipstick on a pig and calling it something else.
The thing that caught my eye was the huge object that looked very futuristic and like it came from outer space. Huge!
I was surprised to learn that the Bible name for the location of the city we know as Bushehr is Elam! Look at Jeremiah 49: 34-39. When I read that I about whooped out of here. Now look up the biblical meaning of "Bow" as used in the passaged directed to Elam.

Gotta scoot.

Don't know how many others of you mark or take note of Ash Wednesday. It marks the beginning of the 40 days of Lent, leading up to Easter. I do want to point out something I just noticed this evening.

Zechariah 1:7-2:17 is a set of visions given to Zechariah on 24 Sh'vat. For me, the key verse has been 1:12: "LORD of hosts, how long will you be without mercy for Jerusalem and the cities of Judah that have felt your anger these seventy years?"

Now, this year,2012, 24 Sh'vat was yesterday, 17 Feb. 28 Sh'vat of this year marks the 70th anniversary of the beginning of the gassing of Jews at Auschwitz. 28 Sh'vat falls on Feb 22 this year.

On Ash Wednesday.

I'm just sayin'...

Great Grany 5 said...

That is very interesting Jim C. I have been doing some studying in Zechariah and one theologian made the remark that no other Prophet except Isaiah contain the wealth and variety of Messianic elements. That was by Leopold and it was further noted that no other writings were as difficult as to interpretation as good ole Zech.
I find myself chasing rabbits everytime I start searching his works. Cross references are great but eventually, I lose my place and have to start all over again. Why, oh why, couldn't I have had this urge to dig when I was a lot younger and able to recall instantly?

Maybe I will get through the whole thing just in time for the Shout!

Hi,
Jim, for some reason I am not following your last post. Can you reexplain the dates and possible relevance to events?

So much seems to be happening all at the same time...I am having a hard time keeping track of it all!

Also...just wondering.. what all of your thoughts are re: the Republican candidates?

jim.carroll said...

Grany, I know what you mean. The only way I've been able to read Zechariah is online, because every time there is a link I can open a new tab in my browser to go to that link. I can also quickly move between the tabs to check out "stuff" that isn't explicitly mentioned in the text. I also try to have two different windows with two different translations: the NIV and the NABRE. They both have notes that can explain the text, but often have widely differing viewpoints. For example, in Jeremiah 49 has oracles against Israel's neighbors. In the oracle against Kedar and Hazor (Saudi Arabia), verse 49:32 in the NIV reads, ... I will scatter to the winds those who are in distant places ... while in the NABRE it reads ... I will scatter to the winds those who shave their temples .... The NABRE has a note that links to Jeremiah 9:25, which compares the shaving of the temples to circumcision, in that it was done by some of the tribes in the area but NEVER done by "members of the covenant."

Donna, Zechariah chapters 1 and 2 talk about the liberation of Israel from those who are oppressing her. 1:7 gives a specific date for the first vision Zechariah was given: 24 Sh'vat. 1:12 has an angel saying it's been 70 years, asking G_D how much longer He will be punishing Jerusalem.

70 years ago, the Wansee Conference decided on the "Final Solution" to the Jewish question. Gas chambers had been built at Auschwitz and tested using Russian POWs, now it was time for a full-scale test. On 24 Sh'vat, in 1942, the orders went out to a small Polish villiage to have all the Jews in the village report to the train station in 4 days to be relocated. On 28 Sh'vat, the Jews were taken to Auschwitz and became the first Jews gassed in the Holocaust. This year 28 Sh'vat falls on Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent -- 40 days of prayer, fasting, and preparation for Easter.

Donna, re: the Republican candidates, here's my take:

Mitt Romney: The political equivalent of tofu. Tofu's claim to fame is that it's supposed to soak up the flavors of whatever it's being cooked in. Mitt has worked to be the tofu of the political spectrum, soaking up whatever the flavor de jour is. If he was like the super silk tofu that you can use to make a really good mousse, I could swallow him. But instead, he's the "firm" tofu that says it is a "meat substitute" but in fact is the love child of Styrofoam and Jello, and so I shall spew him forth from my mouth.

Newt Gingrich: Never liked him. Never, never, never, never. Don't want a president named after a type of salamander. Claims to be reformed in his personal life and all but let's give him a few years or 10 just to be sure.

Ron Paul: Some good ideas, some bad ideas, some ideas that crown him as King of the Wingnuts. Don't like how he didn't even read the material going out under his own name, thus allowing those bigoted writings to be published. (yeah, right.) Obviously, the buck stops here, unless it doesn't.

Santorum: I like him. I may not agree with him 100% but I can tell from listening to him that his views have come out of a great deal of thought and personal conviction. He's not going to flip-flop, and if he changes his opinion it's going to be because someone successfully showed him how the new viewpoint is a better way of expressing his beliefs, and not because 53% of his target demographic says what he should believe.

<><

Just popped in for a second to see if you are all OK in the tornado stricken areas. All of the storms that were supposed to come by, didn't! They went northeast and southeast of us but never the less, we all prayed that those storms could not come near us because of the Name of Jesus.
I know you all know that we have prayed against the author of those storms for a few years now but when you actually see physical proof that God is protecting us from the 'attacks of the enemy' then it just adds more strength to your faith in Him and His Word.
This is Sunday, March 4th, 2012 and I am very thankful for all of the love that God has so mercifully provided for each and everyone of us.
Even though I am not on here as much as I used to be, you are all in my prayers and like some of you, looking forward to the Great Homegoing coming soon at your local dwelling places.

' Ineptocracy ' (in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Mr Hyde said...

I like that word, Jib. Can't say it but I like it.

Well, it looks like Romney is going to be the one to face up to Obie-yes-we-can-obie. And I have a baaaaad feeling.

jib said...

you and me both. I think the end is a comin just from some other stuff I have read. do not expect that our freedoms will be present much longer. I suspect something big on the horizon which will cause BOO to declare martial law. Unlike Bush, BOO does strike me as the type to manufacture something to stay in power along the lines of but much worse than 9/11

personally I think Is 17 is just around the corner perhaps followed by Ez 38. i don't buy Ps 83 happening pre rapture because the list of countries and what happens to them vis a vis peace with Israel does not make sense in the context of a pre trib war. e.g Israel does not make peace with Jordan except by destruction and at least one place perhaps inhabited by evil spirits. The area inhabited by evil spirits is supposed to be the same area as Petra. So either the remnant does not take refuge in Petra or peace with Jordan does not occur until the end of the Trib after Armageddon.

Mr Hyde said...

I have no idea re Is 17 or Psalm 83. But I've just finished a column for this week's Omega Letter where I had to do some research on Putin - and I must say that anyone who still thinks he isn't going to be a major player just hasn't done their homework.

I just can't see things progressing along this way without some sort of catastrophic conflagration occurring soon.

There's another word for you.

jim.carroll said...

Jib, I don't see Psalm 83 talking about "peace." I see Israel being attacked and so taking territory when they strike back, but that's not the same as peace.

Also, I had thought the place to be inhabited by jackals and spirits was Saudi Arabia. Petra seems just a little too close to Israel (and would be part of the expanded territory) for it to be such an evil place.

greetings all.

I haven't posted much for a while, but I thot I would check in.

Perhaps I am a bit foolish, but I just received my American citizenship today. Hopefully this will not cause the complete downfall of the US economy.

I was also thinking that perhaps the reason that Damascus is not part of the gog/magog coalition is because they are too busy infighting, rather than completely destroyed before the war. It is interesting to note how entwined Russia has become with these nations. If war were to break out, it would be hard to understand how Russia could sit it out and still have any credibility in the muslim world.

BOO has also made his declaration that Israel is not to start anything prior to his re-election. If perchance they had the audacity to disobey him, he will be hard pressed to not join in in rebuking them. One thing is for certain, he would not come to their aid, just because they did not listen to his wisdom.

interesting times.

God bless, Wayne

Mr Hyde said...

Hi ya, Wayne. I hadn't realized you weren't an American citizen. Good to hear from you, brother.

I've just been reading some of the "ethical" stuff re the post-birth abortion discussions. This, right after reading Lewis' "That Hideous Strength".

jim.carroll said...

It struck me tonight that we could be seeing the seeds of Gog-Magog being planted right now. Simply put, Syria (and a good many of the Islamic nations) have gotten most if not all of their weapons, ordinance, and weapons systems from Russia. When the War of Psalm 83 comes (and goes) and all the nations around Israel are asking themselves what happened, they're not going to say "Hey! Maybe God DOES love Israel!" They're going to say, "Russia supplied us with defective equipment! It's all Russia's fault!"

Russia, in the meantime, has suffered a MAJOR blow in prestige and weapons sales. They'll want payback. What's more, the only way they'll get their prestige back is if they're putting their own lives on the line. IOW, a hook has been set in their jaw, a hook that says "Walk the walk or walk out of town."

So Gog and Magog join with Persia, et al, and Ezekiel's prophecy comes to pass.

Sound reasonable?

They are so destroyed. Their girls (26, 28) are not taking it well. Denice is also a concern as she is disabled. I do not know how she is going to function without him.

Things are quiet here at the cave as well - often just a few bats rustling in a corner of the roof. But folks keep dropping in from time to time. I guess it's still a good place to leave a message and to ask for prayer.

Yes, it definitely is a good place to leave a message, ask for prayer, bring up info re: end times and whatever else!

I was bummed All Things New closed. They seemed like a nice group of people. The Watchamn's Forum closed too recently where I was a Moderator for awhile.

At first it was vibrant & growing. Then one of the Mod's started making inappropriate remarks to a blogger. That person was booted. Then another Mod decided to leave because she got a little too blunt w/her comments.(Who I like actually) She took the really nice gals w/her & started up her own Forum. Then the only active people left were my least favorite posters. Anti-Israel, Anti-PreTrib, Anti-Church, Anti-Christian Holidays & a Mormon who thought he was a Christian & posted Mormon books.......Enough to drive me nuts. The person who ran the Forum didn't care as long as they continued to post in order to be fair & free to examine all things so I eventually didn't check in that much as a Mod because I couldn't stomache to read their comments. They pretty much took over the whole Forum.

Since they became the only people to ever comment he shut the Forum down since it grew static.

I guess this type of pattern occurs quite frequently. I'm not overly convinced that "The Lord" always tells them to shut it down but that's what I typically hear is the reason for the closure.

I was at a "Support Israel" prayer night yesterday. A couple Jewish groups also came & spoke along w/some Christian Pastors & Messianic Pastors. I wouldn't have naturally gone -solo but a girlfriend called me up & encouraged me to go with her. (I'm so thankful for my encouraging girlfriends!)

It was different mixing w/the Jewish people - probably only a few were there but Pastor Ray Bentley did an excellent job of speaking to them. Very humble in his approach to them. You know the verse where the hearts of the children & fathers will be brought back together? He likened the Christians to the children of the faith to the fathers - Jewish people who established the Torah & OT scripture. We are the children or youngsters who have made some historical mistakes in the past - don't know everything now but do believe that Yeshua our Jewish Messiah is also their foretold Messiah. And there was more but I found that an interesting analogy.

Then a Pastor gave the analogy of being a Christian requires balance. It's like riding a horse w/one to many hot toddys. If you stay centered on the horse & balanced you're doing great. But if you tip a little too much to the right into legalism you'll falter & if you tip a little too much to the left into taking advantage of God's grace you will fall off track.

Also, A Messianic Rabbi was really upset & spoke about the Methodist leadership which is publically going against Israel & supporting the UN perspective on their rights to the Land.

Anyway, thought I'd share that.

Marge said...

Thanks for sharing!

I've listened to a few Jewish ministries, and have learned some things. Mostly about learning Jewish culture, to be able to understand more about what the Bible says. When Jesus spoke in the NT, He often refered to the OT, and they understood, because they lived in that culture. However, I have noticed, the Jewish ministries I've heard, appear to be (more) into legalism.

Does anyone have anything they'd like to discuss? Or share? Miss seeing the discussions/sharing here.

Urgent Update on Chuck Colson's Condition

The Manhattan Declaration was born in the heart of Chuck Colson, and you are among the nearly 525,000 persons who have endorsed this statement of conscience over the past two years. Many of you have been praying fervently for Chuck since his surgery some two weeks ago. There have been some encouraging signs about Chuck’s condition during these days, but earlier this morning our friend Jim Liske, CEO of Prison Fellowship Ministries, gave the following update to the staff and supporters of Prison Fellowship:

“It is with a heavy, but hopeful heart that I share with you that it appears our friend, brother, and founder will soon be home with the Lord. Chuck’s condition took a decided turn yesterday, and the doctors advised Patty and the family to gather by his bedside.

As you know, Chuck underwent surgery more than two weeks ago to remove a pool of clotted blood on the surface of his brain. And while we had seen some hopeful signs for Chuck’s recovery—including his ability to talk happily with Patty and the kids—it seems that God may be calling him home.”

We will keep you posted on Chuck’s condition. Please continue to hold him and the entire Colson family in your prayers.

Chuck’s life, his destiny, and his legacy are in the hands of God.

Interesting week. Went over to visit a friend who broke both of her legs (and finger) on our property. When she got out her truck it reversed & the door knocked her down & threw her under her one ton truck. The front tires ran over 3 of her limbs. (This was 2 week sago.) Her name is Janet if anyone would like to pray for her. This is the 3rd person to break legs at our house in 2yrs. One was my friend watching our kids when we went to Israel. 1st day here fell near the garden & broke her ankle. The 2nd was my mom falling in our kitchen & broke her femer up by her hip. Now the 3rd is Janet running herself over w/her Truck.

WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?! Anyway, I've been visiting her this week helping out & ran into her neighbor. He's a young guy living w/his girlfriend a couple doors down who comes by & walks her dog. He does some writing @ home & has a blog on dogs.

He brought up the volcanos, freak weather stuff going on, Myan 2012 predictions, etc... so I told him it's the sign of Jesus soon return. He sure didn't want to hear that!!! He had way too many things he wants to do in this world first. Plus he has a Catholic background & his theology is different. So I discussed some things w/him ( I even told him he wasn't even saved! I can't believe that came out of my mouth!!) If he gets in a big enough jam I directed him to call on Jesus & He would save him.

So, the next day I see him outside his apartment blowing up a 2 Man Life Raft. I asked him if he was going to put it in the pool. Then I was thinking he's going to take it to the lake, ocean or something.

He was blowing it up to make sure it didn't have any leaks because it's a part of his emergency kit as he's getting prepared for the upcoming emergencies & natural disasters ~ LOL!!!! That is one of the funniest things I've ever seen!

So then yesterday I brought L.A. Marzulli's DVD called "Watchers 2" about the freaky stuff going on & he was happy to take that to watch since he likes to listen to Richard Dawkins take on things.

Anyway, pray for Michael - hopefully a seed will spout.

Marge said...

My brother-in-law, Ken had a feeding tube inserted yesterday in Orlando. He's on his way home with my sister right now. I'm praying that his body will strengthen and fight off the cancer cells.

The band my son is in (Oakland) wrote a song that is so touching and is helping my sister remember God's promises. The words in the chorus are; "I'll take care of you, when your hope is wearing thin. I'll take care of you, when you don't know how it ends. I hold you in my heart, and I'll hold you in my hands. I'll take care of you."

These words will resonate His love for us, his children.

God heals, God delivers, God saves, but He also allows. I think that is one of the hardest things to accept when we walk thru the fire. It's great to know and remember that we are in His hands.

Reader's Digest ~ The Video is great for people who are into the "signs of the times" Myan 2012ers, New Agers, UFO's, Appirations, etc... I find when I speak w/people in their 20's/30's they have watched lots of TV shows on these topics & have a interest in finding out more. He often refers to the Bible as "The Guidebook of the Supernatural" for that reason. (His latest book "The Cosmic Chessmatch" is good too. More about the workings of spiritual warfare. The provision will be subject to a certain degree of conditionality in areas ranging from corruption to legal environment. The new institution will be established in a new international territory based within a specific country in Subsaharan Africa and will emerge in 2015.In The Monfort Plan author Jaime Pozuelo-Monfort engineers and designs a solution to lessen the burden of poverty. This happened yesterday, but I only read about it today:

Saturn, Moon and star Spica in rare triple conjunction

Interesting significance to this, of the "signs in the stars" kind. Quoting from a brief article on the subject by Judy Gassett (with some additions):

This is a rare picture of enormous spiritual warfare and gospel in the stars.

Saturn represents Satan, always. Spica is a star in Virgo, a constellation depicting a pure virgin holding a sheaf of wheat. Spica is named specifically for the "branch" in the Hebrew Mazzaroth (zodiac). Hebrew has over 22 words meaning branch. This word, Spica, specifically refers to the Messiah and is only used 4 times in the Bible all referencing the Messiah. The huge full moon represents a Mother or the Church.

Joseph helps here when in his dream about binding the wheat sheaves, the sun, moon and 12 stars bowed to his sheaf. Spica (Messiah) and Saturn are in conflict (conjunction) over the destiny of the Church. But Mary (Virgo), Our Mother, representing the Church will triumph (the moon is huge)

Hated to hear about Grant Jeffrey's sudden promotion to heaven but don't you know, wonderful for him! I love to read his books when Harold would post most of them on Joel's blog. But he had a great teaching style and you could hear the Love of and for God in all of his broadcasts.

I just returned home today from a wonderful visit to northern Missouri and also, my hometown of Newton, Iowa. It was great seeing the advance of civilization in both areas but also very sad. It took a few minutes to recognize the very block that I lived on and also, the old hangouts of my teen life. Everyone is so busy and going so fast that it was nice to take a little journey into history for a change.
My daughter and son took me to Iowa and in the excitement of getting away from all the noise and commotion of small town Missouri, we managed to get lost a couple of times along the way. Trying to find a little town that we all used to frequent years ago and was only about 20 minutes from Newton, turned into a major sojourn along several gravel country roads. Yes, they are still gravel, dusty and yet quite peaceful. The trees and grass were all beautiful green, the sky was the most gorgeous blue and it was more than a little sad to leave all of it as we returned back to Missouri. Of course, northern Missouri was also very pretty and the weather was perfect.
Oh, by the way, most of the conversation during our road trip and in the local gathering spots was about "is this the end of the world?" type questions. The churches might be a little short of pew fillers but never the less, the love for God is still running strong in most of those wonderful people. The elderly responding to the younger people asking the questions.
Yes, it is the wind down of this age but I just have this inner witness that we still have some ways to go yet. But even so,

COME LORD JESUS COME!

It was sad to hear about Grant Jeffrey. He was a good friend to Jack Kinsella and had helped him out many times when he first started out in ministry. I can’t help thinking that if the Lord sees fit to delay His coming much longer that we’ll start getting thin on the types of teachers who do the work of reaching people at a larger popular level. Can you image a Hal or Jack or David Reagan or David Jeremiah or Chuck Smith etc gone? Where are the younger guys coming up through the ranks?

Anyway, I love the description of your travels, Grany. It was almost like I was there with you.

May He come soon!

I am in the process of sorting out my book supply and happened to run across one of Grant's first books. It is well worn and well marked up but it is still good reading. The only problem is, the covers are gone from all the wear and tear. I am going to research the title on the internet and see if I can duplicate it with a home made durable cover. I bet I have taken that every where I went over the years and my notes really show just how unaware I was of world events.
DJH and I are trying to get rid of excess items and it is really difficult to part with cherished keepsakes. But for the Keeping Sake of DJH's love, I have to bite the bullet and do a emotional surgery of sorts.
What am I going to do when I get to the really big items? Pray before hand and hope that there is a welcome and good home for the lot. A whole lot of the Lot!
By the way, Sean Osburne at Eschatology has some very interesting info posted on his blog.

Jim, I just love that ad. It's been making the rounds of the Catholic sites for the past couple of weeks, and I think it's clear that the message applies to all Christians, not just Catholics. (Or as Penny Nance of Concerned Women of America said, "We are all Catholic now."

(Of special note: when I went to that website just now, the banner ad across the top was for a movie I REALLY hope comes around here where I live: For Greater Glory, staring Andy Garcia and Eva Longoria. It's about the Cristero Rebellion in Mexico, 1925-1928. The second president elected under Mexico's new Constitution was a Freemason who absolutely hated the Catholic Church. Once he was elected, he could not be voted out because he suppressed the voting rights of anyone who supported the Catholic Church. In 1925 he started sending troops to round up priests and religious workers, and began executing them, sometimes during church services and killing anyone who tried to stop them. The faithful organized to fight against the religious oppression and became known as the Cristeros, because as they charged into battle they would shout, Viva Cristo Rey! (Long Live Christ the King!)

The story focuses on one of the generals who led the rebellion, and on a teenager who joined up. The teenager was captured and hung, and is listed as the youngest martyr (14yo) of the rebellion. Every time I see an ad for the film, I think of what Obama is trying to do, and I pray it doesn't come to armed rebellion in order to preserve our freedoms.)

HydeHo,
It was so good and Ray Bentley is so very easy to watch and listen to. But his take on Naomi and Ruth was really refreshing and it caused me to go grab the book on Ruth from Dr. Fruchtenbaum. I wish those two men could hook up someway and Ray could instill a little phazaaz to the Dr. and Dr. could add some foundational strength to Ray. That would be a great combination.

My short lived attempt to sort through my Christian library brought all kinds of forgotten titles and authors to both DJH and myself. So many great topics and authors but the one that I have prized the most is just my Bible. DJH got a really big laugh out of how many bibles I am in possession of.

The attempt to sort through them and pass on some of them fell really short of getting done. Each precious Bible had too many wonderful memories attached to them because most of them came as gifts. A lot of them have my name engraved on the front or at least on the Presentation Page so I can't just pass them on. It would offend the ones who gave them to me and I don't want to do that. So,
I have plans on approaching the group that graced me with most of them, asking them if they would like to have one of them back, coming from someone else, and creating a living Bible Family network of sorts.

Most of these were gifts from the young girls and boys of my Full Gospel Church, they are now grown up, and most of them with families of their own. So say, lil Sally gave me a NASB in the year 1994 and inscribed it. Now lil Sally is married and expecting her first child. Her best friend during that church time was a lil girl named Heather who just gave birth to a lil girl. So, instead of giving the bible to Sally, give it to Heather as a continuing link to her childhood best freind Sally.

Do you think that would work? I don't want to cause any disappointment because I truly do love my Bibles but I now have over 50 of different sizes, translations and colors. Mostt of them are leather coverings so I know they will endure a long time. I just want them to be cherished and passed on to the benefit and glory the Fellowship that we had.

I have tried speaking with the pastor but he wasn't part of the church and has no feelings about it one way or the other. I wouldn't expect him to have any besides that.

Anyway,
this Memorial Weekend I am taking time to thank God for all of his deliverances and protection of our men and women who have kept our liberties in tact. Living through the wars of my life time can really open wide the eyes to just how much Grace of God brought us all through to 2012.

GOD HAS BLESSED AMERICA AND I PRAY WILL CONTINUALLY DO SO,

Grany

Here, where I live, it wasn't that pronounced but hubby did get a real thrill watching Venus. On June 5th Venus will begin it's path across the lower portion of the sun and I want to see it for sure. I don't plan on sticking around until 2117 to see it again.

Everyone keep safe, watch Israel and pray for the Peace of Israel. That's Jesus, ya know!

Grany, my favorite Bible is still my Ryrie NASB Study Bible. Lately I've been immersed in reading and re-reading the Epistles and profiting from it. It amazes me just how often it confirms Christ's divinity and that he's the only way to salvation yet some people and groups still get that wrong. I still have my first Bible which my parents gave me when I was about 8 or 9 yrs old. I was at Catholic school at the time - it is a red hard cover, school edition, Knox translation from the Latin Vulgate complete with Apocrypha - of course. Great sentimental value but I don't use it.

Jim C, I saw For Greater Glory tonight. The production wasn't perfect, but it was pretty well done. The Christian message was well presented. I highly recommend it.

Anne, I'll probably see it next weekend, because it doesn't look like it's going to make it up here to where I live, at least not in the foreseeable future. The professional reviewers criticize the lack of character development and "the missed opportunity" with having assembled such a great cast; the regular people who have seen it all love it.

I still have my first bible (ownership wasn't so common when I was growing up)but the poor covers are pretty well gone. It started out as a pretty blue hard cover but it is hard to tell that now. My church at the time of my high school graduation presented each one of us the newest translation of the day in 1953. Oh, my goodness! The ruckus that raised! Revised Standard Version but I loved it!
The thinking of those days was pretty silly in my way of thinking. The majority of religious leaders would rather you have a bible that couldn't be understood than to have one that disagreed with King James over modern language usage. Well, anyway, I enjoyed it and still do.
I don't know if it is just me but everyday when I get up I have this enormous urge to check the news out of the middle east; expecting all hell to break loose at any moment. Any of the rest of you doing the same thing? I don't know what I am expecting but this dread is getting worse by the hour.
Anyway, today is Saturday and I am going to enjoy every minute that the Lord has granted me.

I hit the button twice but the sad part of it all; I didn't realize it until I returned here to see if there was any one left living out there in blogville.

Call me 'Quick Drawl Grany'.

Do you know how many times I have had the same thought regarding future leaders? The problem with the younger generation is that too many of them are caught up in post modernism, social justice, replacement theology etc. They have ears that want to tickle their flocks. When I think of the younger preachers out there I have to think of folks lik Rob Bell who is nothing short of a heretic. It is one of those things that makes me think we are getting closer to the end than we think.

Dad is home now but has to wear the neck collar until end of July and it is really affecting his breathing. Pray for mom and dad. My foot is sort of better and sort of not. I think a chronic issue could be developing which may end my career as I currently know it. Food for thought at any rate.

JIB,
I know we are getting very close to the shout out but I just cannot explain it. I am not someone that has a lot of dreams but when I do they really get my attention. For the past 2 or 3 months the above statement no longer is accurate. When I wake up, I have a very difficult time sorting out what is real time and what is dream time. The dreams are not scary but there is such a peace that comes over me that I really have a difficult time getting time oriented. Breakfast used to be my favorite time of the norning; now all I want to do is go check out God's Word.
AND I am not meaning I just want to sleep or disassociate myself from reality. What is real 'reality' anyway. We are all flesh and blood but the living part of all of us is 'spirit'. Seems my 'spirit' man is trying like crazy to tell me something and I can't get on the same wave length as He is on.

Good to hear about you Dad going home. Keeping them both and you in my prayers.
Oh, by the way, you have a greater calling just a ways up the road and Your Heavenly Father will provide all of your needs out of His Great Storehouse in Heaven. Hard to latch onto that but for a fact, it is very true. Just don't let 'fear' have any kind of an opening.

I've been listening to quite a few podcasts of Alistair Begg for the past couple of months. I love my job but if I could sell my house tomorrow and get a job close enough to attend Parkside or a similarly healthy church, I would in a heartbeat. Am thankful I can hear Pastor Begg online. I don't want to put him or any other person on a pedestal but I so appreciate his teaching/preaching.

I've really been struggling with our current pastor. I'm praying the Lord would give me wisdom and guidance on what to do. Stay and try to make a difference or look for a church with a more spiritually discerning and mature pastor.

Hi All!

Jim G, we live about 20 minutes from Parkside & have been there numerous times when Alistair Begg was preaching. I too like him but have to say I'm not too thrilled with Parkside. It is kind of a mega church, not really the type you can feel at home with.

How is everyone?

I think Grumpy/ATTY is doing well. I get a special email from him time to time when something prophetically interesting pops up to check out.

Grany, this guest speaker from Germany was here today. He had some interesting insight on God's calling / will for our lives. I didn't know that when Peter & his boys didn't catch any fish it was mentioned that they were "cleaning their nets”. This infers that they were doing that to "look like" they had actually caught fish. You only need to clean your nets when fish are caught. Hummm, makes sense to me!

I feel your pain regarding churches. We love our local church and pastor very much but are struggling with staying because of the national group. Our church belongs to the PCUSA which is apostate-has been actually for sometime but the proverbial straw has dropped because of their complete disregard for scripture and it's authority. Our local church is quite sound for the most part although we apparently didn't vet our current session of elders that well since we apparently have some baby Christians relatively speaking on it. They may have been in church a long time but they are not spiritually mature. They were able to agree on many good things at their last meeting regarding doctrines of importance yet couldn't agree that the concept of sin and what constitutes sin is actually an important doctrine. We are faced with quite a dilemma. Our pastor doesn't want us to leave because that means he loses tow more orthodox voices in the church but we just don't feel we can abide anymore in a church that is aligned with such rampant heresy and apostasy. We are supposed to meet with him sometime in the next month or so-he just had a new baby so he is off right now. Pray for him, us and our church. Quite a large segment of our church feels as we do but the recommendation to separate has to come from the session not the rank and file.

jib, adding your church to my prayers. I believe this same spirit is attacking all of the churches worldwide and it takes the concentrated prayers/Prayers to take the enemy out.

In the meantime, the church my husband is affiliated with, United Methodist Church, has turned mightily against Israel and is in the process of initiating an embargo against all products coming out of Israel. I wonder if they have even bothered to read and study God's Word on blessing Israel. Or do they just not understand that God's promises to the Jews are forever?
HE can't be too far away from stepping onto the clouds right now! Ya all READY?!

Lisa, that was good! And what I enjoyed the most, even if no one else understood the battle that was being fought, The Prez did! He laughed without jovility and smile because he dared not to.

I would love to see that happen time and time again. Did you notice the dear wife of the Prez wasn't doing much smiling or laughing.

Made my day1

Great article Lisa. Thanks!

I really like the idea of Kindle reader and just found out that I can download the app for my computer. If I can get that to work properly, I am going to check on getting Bonnhofer for the reader. That way the fonts can be enlarged to "MY SIZE".

I love the wit of Eric Metaxas and boy, what a lesson for all of us. Not just the Prez but all of us. Kinda like taking a bath, putting on our best clothes to go visit best friends.

HE IS COMING YOU ALL KNOW!

Todays Wolves in Sheeps Clothing Part 1 - Michael Hoggard

Great Grany 5 said...

Give me a break!!!!! Now, that is my assessment of the video of the Missouri preacher's on Wolves in Sheep's Clothing.

You have a much surer way of descernment and His Name is Holy Spirit! He doesn't lie, doesn't gossip, doesn't accuse the breathern, doesn't come to Steal, Kill, and Destroy but works 48 hours a day to bring Unity, Joy, Love, Peace, Gentleness, Long Suffering and conviction to the Body of Christ. He also is not Denominational or stirring up conflict.

Sometimes it would serve these guys better to stay away from any type of recording devices.
