The heart is the part of man which God chiefly notices in religion. The bowed head, and the bended knee–the grave face and the rigid posture–the ritual response, and the formal amen–all these together do not make up a spiritual worshiper. The eyes of God look further and deeper. He requires the worship of the heart. “My son,” he says to every one of us, “Give me your heart.”

Wanted to share this link to the latest from Mark Mallett, talking about false prophets and moral relativism:
More on False Prophets
Woe to you when all speak well of you, for their ancestors treated the false prophets in this way. (Luke 6:26)
Here's some exciting information from an article by Jimmy DeYoung
Priestly Blessings Were Recited on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem - The First Time in History of Modern-Day Israel
Rabbi Israel Ariel, the head of the Temple Institute and one of the paratroopers who helped liberate the Temple Mount back in 1967, joined with other members of the priestly family and offered the priestly blessing on the Temple Mount, a first in the history of the modern-day Jewish state of Israel. Security precautions were implemented for all those wishing to ascend to the Temple Mount on Jerusalem Day, the 44th anniversary of the reunification of the city of Jerusalem.
ha no wonder I wasn't getting any email comments :-) new post lol
DONNA,
When I read that article I can tell you, my whole being shook. Going from the Muslim attitude of not even a prayer or Bible being allowed on the Temple Mount to the Rabbi being allowed to proclaim the Priestly Blessings on there is off the charts as far as world shaking events.
When the Jews took back their own territory in Jerusalem they were not the interlopers that the main stream media has tried to create. We all know that but why in the world did Moshe Dayan relinquish the control of that precious property to the Muslims? That is a question that will never get an adequate answer.
Grany, the answer is adequate, just not one the world wants to know or believe.
After unifying Jerusalem, Dayan didn't believe he had the strength to hold back the Muslim armies if he took complete control of the Mount. In other words, he had no faith in G_D. He did not believe in G_D and so did not believe that G_D would (or could) defend Israel if the Mount were claimed.
well said Jim
and how often to we find ourselves doing the same thing-we don't do the hard thing because we are trying to do it in our own strength and not His. We also don't trust him either.
how did the interview go btw?
Jib, it went OK, which doesn't mean anything. I'm waiting for a decision; I'm hoping they'll make one by the end of this week. Until then I feel like I'm in a holding pattern.
<><
I skipped town for a few hours and enjoyed myself. Hot out there but what can I expect for the first week of June. Love the clear blue skies and gentle little clouds dotting it. Beats the other wild and wooly ones any day.
Jim, very good thinking my round friend. If we trusted our Father, as we should, we wouldn't have anything to complain about and surely nothing to get in a dittsey about either. I have a friend that continually prays for this or that and then when it seems as if her understanding of God's answer isn't what she has specified, goes ahead and does it her way. End result: she needs prayers from everyone to fix what she created. Yeah!
Well, this is not the day to waste over such small matters. But there are so many things I would love to share with you about how much Abba truly is doing just in my life but you know, He wants to do the same for all of us. I got a little discouraged last week because I was facing the same old mess again for about the upteenth time and I was tired of it. Not my problem to begin with but a friend of long standing that lives in Missouri. I just tired of going around the same old bush with her and each time it is as if she doesn't recognize the territory at all.
I really didn't know how to pray for her this time because the situation has become deadly for her family. Well, God knew what to do and now she is unable to create or should I say re-create all of the heart break for her kids. Never even entered my mind that He would remove her from the scene in a very merciful manner but he did. She didn't die but her kids have moved completely away from her, about 1500 miles to be exact.
Mommies have to learn that their little babies grow up, become adults and don't need anyone telling them what to do or interfering with their decisions. Way to go Daddy! What is sad is the loss of wonderful times and memories for her if she had chosen to be gracious instead of controlling.
Well, JIM C., I am praying for that job and my valued friend, it has to be soon or you won't get to prove to them the great treasure they have acquired when they hired you.

Yikes! More prophetic stuff to come! Yikes! Yikes! Yikes! This is getting hairy folks.
Pastor Ray was mentioning today that God has not revealed His glory very often in the past such as when the children of Israel were following the glory cloud throughout the vast wilderness.Pillar of fire by night & cloud by day.
Then he likened it to our time. He believes God's glory will manifest it's self again to the end time Church. Stuff will keep happening- getting worse & worse & we could be basically stripped of all attachments but filled w/His glory.
He asked if we would be willing to leave it all behind like in the OT to follow Him in a like manner now.
What if we're tested like that w/no rapture yet? Ah Ha! Think it's worth it?
sobering article and well worth the read. the problem is that many still believe in replacement theology of some sort and if you can't rightly divide the word of God as to the fact that Israel is not the church nor is the church Israel you can and will believe all sorts of things. Augustine is still a heavy influence in protestant circles and he preached/taught that there was no millennial kingdom that we as the church would eventually convert everyone and usher in God's kingdom on this earth. Interesting though as many would have you believe that the concept of a millennial kingdom started with Darby and yet Augustine was 4th century.
has any one else felt that they are a voice crying in the wilderness to keep to Biblical standards and authority? I know we are not alone but it just seems that we are a dwindling minority. I have to think though we are like Elijah ? in that he had to be told that there was a faithful remnant that had not bowed the knee to Baal.
Lisa, that bit about the papal throne moving to Jerusalem would be laughable if the person writing it weren't so ... meshuggah. His understanding of history is severely limited, his understanding of Roman Catholic theology even more so, and his views are close to a classic definition of "paranoia."
This is the guy who once declared that the Vatican was a made-up state with no legal standing. He based this on a misreading of the Lateran Treaty, which formalized relations between Italy and the Vatican State. He ignored the fact that the Papal States (which existed until 1869) constituted a temporal kingdom recognized by the rest of the world (including the United States) with the Pope as the ruling monarch. The Papal States were seized/conquered in the Italian Wars of Unification. This created a legal standing where the temporal head of a land (the Pope) laid claim to land that had been conquered by another. The Papacy never renounced its claim on the land, and as a result formed what is called today a "government-in-exile". For almost 70 years the Pope was called "The Prisoner of the Vatican", since once elected he could never leave the Vatican without being arrested. The Italian government several times offered to pay restitution to the Vatican for the land seized. The offers were always rejected because they would have meant renouncing any secular claims on the land.
Finally, in 1929, the Vatican and Mussolini agreed: Some of the land would be returned to the Vatican, mostly the land around the Vatican but some other properties as well; Italy would formally recognize the Pope as a temporal ruler of the returned land (thus restoring the monarchy); and the Papal States were reorganized as Vatican State.
The author of the article about the Papal Throne chose to ignore any history before 1929 and thus presented the Vatican State as something made out of whole cloth. This unwillingness to do any historical research (or rather, his selective reading of history) shows that his analysis and his writings are not to be trusted.
I wouldn't go quoting him anywhere. Seriously.

They'll consider all the technical reasons for this but ignore the most important reason: sin.
Expert Says 2011 Tornadoes 106% Above Average
Out of curiosity, has anyone here been dreaming of wolves or other creatures?
<><
JIM C.
You know that 'sin'is the number 1 addiction, even topping chocolates. But in that Joplin tornado a very interesting fact that the main stream media completely ignored was brought home very sharply to me recently.
There is a Christian College located in Joplin, MO., Ozark Christian College that was completely spared the devastation of the May tornado. I am linking you all to the web site HERE where they explain just how much protection they had.
Now, it is seen from the air you get the idea of a great explusion happening but it is also evident that the south part of Joplin was the only part damaged. Even though that is the truth, it still rendered Joplin 75% destroyed.
While I was watching the video on Lisa's link to Stephen Pidgeon's claim, a warning came up on the page stating that Dr. Crosi had found no evidence of Mr. Pidgeon's claims and advised the readers to guage all the contents of the interview with great discernment.
JIB, you bet I really do get disgusted with some of the hair brained ideas of so called bible teachers and preachers. Also the very fact that people searching for the truth are being fed this junk at an alarming rate. Even mature Believers are getting hoodwinked and yes, I see 2 Timothy 3:1 thru 9 but then I really got encouraged by the following verses:
14But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
15And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."
So there is good news to hang onto and cherish no matter what takes place.

Greetings! I'm liberally copying some postings that appeared on Catholic Answers Forum yesterday:
Early this morning, robot observatories focused on our sun recorded a Coronal Mass Ejection and Solar Flare. The CME fell back to the sun and the solar flare is a near miss of Earth; however magnetic material thrown up by the CME is on a wide path, part of which will intersect Earth, about 1800GMT. That will be 1400, or 2:00PM, CDST here in the 'States.
A minor to medium magnetic storm is expected at the given times.

Today, someone posted this reply (edited for length):
What is very interesting is it occurred on the 49th day of the Jewish Counting of the Omer. The Jewish peoples count 7 weeks (7x7) or 49 days from Passover to the day before Shavuot (Pentecost), and then the next day, the 50th, is Pentecost.
Pentecost in Israel is June 8 2011 (they base it off of Passover which differs from or Easter which is always on a Sunday).
The counting is intended to remind the Jewish peoples of the link between Passover, which commemorates the Exodus, and Shavuot, which commemorates the giving of the Torah.
Of course Pentecost is the day of the descent of the Holy Spirit, Who is associated with fire, as in the tongues of fire over the heads of the disciples.
To me, this is another sign in the sun, the moon, and the stars of these times of the end of the age.
Now we will have to see if any Aurora come from this in the next day or two. Maybe there will be some, and maybe not, so look up to see!

JIM,
Fantastic!!!!!!
Praise God!!!
YAY!!!!
I was encouraged last week by our pastor's message. He has been doing a series called "asking tough questions" and the topic for the week was "How could a good God send people to hell?" He started by talking about Rob Bell's book on hell (or lack thereof) and said how it's a sad statistic that most in the church today won't deal with these questions because basically we've become illiterate on the subject matter, so that leaves people like Bell to write books on the topics and take unBiblical stances on them without anyone standing up to him. Anyway, He encouraged us to read the book if we want, but to do so with the Bible next to us to search it out as the Bereans did. His main theme was the passage of the rich man and Lazarus (if I recall, this is one example of hell that Bell doesn't list, ironically.) Our pastor showed how even in hell, the rich man still viewed Lazarus as subservient to him (asking him to bring the water, asking him to go tell his family about hell, etc.) There was no recognition as to why Lazarus was with Abraham nor repentance about his attitude toward Lazarus during his life. Abraham tells the rich man that the living have the scriptures and even if a dead man returned to life to warn them, they wouldn't listen. So pastor was using those points to show that it isn't God who sends but rather man who chooses through repeated moments of denying the truth to eventually be separated from God. One of Bell's points is that there might be a hell-ish destination initially, but when the realization comes to the deceased, he can always appeal to God's love and forgiving nature and be restored. Pastor used the rich man as an example of how even in torment, there was no recognition of his sin or this desire to repent and be restored. He just wanted to be relieved or at least get his family out of such a destiny while there was time. It was a really good message and not hedging on the subject at all. We've been pleased over the last 2 years or so to see the church leadership moving toward more and more Biblical teaching, away from the feel-good attractions (for awhile there were signs that the leadership was headed in that direction because we're non-denom and very modern in our facilities) but two pastors in particular moved on and things have begun to head back toward essential truths and new covenant teaching. We keep an eye on things as they come up in sermons, in the ministries that are offered and we're really happy to be in this particular church. They have a really strong children's ministry and that's one of our greatest concerns, of course. I grew up between Presby/Methodist churches and the youth group met on and off for a few months a year. Today, I think I'm one of the few kids that even darkens the doorway of a church. Bob grew up with a stronger community and youth program and went to Christian school, but we still marvel at how many kids from his school are living as though they've never been impacted by the good news.
This message spoke directly to my heart:
When God is Stopped
Let your heart always remain open, and I will not hesitate to fill it with My goodness. Is this not the enemy’s tactic—to close your heart to Me by doubt and despair? I tell you child, it is not your sin that keeps Me away, but lack of faith. I can do all things in the heart of a sinner who believes and repents; but to the one who closes off in doubt, God is stopped.
To answer some of your questions, my new job is in a city about 90 miles away. The job is scheduled to start Monday, June 27. The whole housing thing is gearing up to be a big hassle, because I've got no place to stay (certainly not with my ex-wife) and I don't have any money to pay the first month rent and deposit. My family is pushing me to get a room, which means getting rid of pretty much all of my possessions, but I'm finding that even sharing a room won't save me that much money, not initially and definitely not in the long run. Oh, and even though I still need to confirm this with my present landlord, I don't doubt that I'll still owe him next month's rent in addition to paying the rent for the new place.
So, yes, I really, really need to open my heart and trust in G_D.

In case any of you were wondering-The Wallow Fire is quite a bit north of us as we are south of Phoenix. There is however a fire south of Tucson but that one appears to be contained.
We are on a road trip tomorrow-our first major car show road trip in probably 4 years. Pray for safe travel and that the car does ok. It hasn't been on the road in 4 years due to broken piston. Also no AC and we are driving in AZ in summer. ugh.
On another note-our friend who has been living with us is probably moving back to the Carolinas. I have mixed feelings about it since I am not entirely sure he is making the correct decision but it is his life.
My brother has 6 interviews this week one of which is an identical match for his certification. sure would be nice if a job came his way also
Praying for all those issues, Jib.
Did L kill the comments again? In the event that I did, I will remove my comment so life can begin again. OK?
Hey Grany, I don't think you killed the comments. I can't even remember what it was.
Are you all out there? Can I see a show of hands...helllllllloooooooooo!!!!
I'm here, too tired to write much. I've been watching my two little grandchildren for three weeks now, full time, four weeks to go. But, at least the next four weeks will be in my own home. The almost-three-year-old is quite a handful, but darling as can be. The five year old is a helper but, still has the needs of a five year old. I've been sharing the bottom bunk bed nearly every night.
I found a great website while I was doing some research on David Baron’s book on Zechariah.
nope you didn't kill the comments. Thanks for your prayers I know they helped. I can't remember a time when we had so little issues travelling in this car! Remember to pray over Friday through Sunday for our travel as well. if you are between small towns there is ZERO cell coverage!
Iran calls for security alliance with former Soviet block countries
Second article
hmm, where have I read something similar to this before? Also, since Russia has been trying to get her former satellites back under her thumb could that be a hook to drive her to war?
I have been reading quite a bit about events taking place in Israel and it is really easy to get scared for them. Then a SUDDENLY happened and I just realized that God never slumbers, sleeps and the Apples are being watched over very thoroughly by all of His Heavenly Hosts. If they can't take care of business my being scared isn't going to help them one little bit.
I just really do love Israel, her God, her people and HER FUTURE but not the destruction, killing and hatred that is just beginning to become a major element all over the world. It isn't so much the Jews that they hate but it is their Jehovah and ALL OF HIS PROMISES TO THEM.
I am still praying JIB and believing that you are cupped in the hands of the Master.
Love all of you and Mac, I am going to check out your link. Thanks for sharing. By the way, Jack Kelly has a great article on Pentecost 2011 at Gracethrufaith.com.
I agree with him about the rapture not being related to any of the Jewish Feasts.............
Grany
End of School stuff & working too plus B-day party planning -a little overwhelmed.
The Rapture on the Biblical Feast Days makes sense since Christ was the fulfillment of the spring feasts on the exact days but on the other hand that's we would "expect" the rapture to occur @ this point. Humm......
"For this reason you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will. (Mat 24:44)
I don't understand why people try to second guess Scripture.
Mr. Hyde, because it's soooooo fuuuuuun! :)
<><
Regarding Jack Kelly's take on the rapture as related to the Feasts: All of the Feasts were set
aside for the Hebrew people to observe in obedience to God's requests or should I say, orders.
When the Rapture takes place the Church Age ends here on earth. That Age is poignant with Grace,
Love, Mercy and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. (Jesus'). I don't believe the Holy Spirit will
depart from the earth, only the vessels that He has filled. Otherwise, who would protect the 144,000
witnesses? Sure I know God's Angels will play an important roll but remember, the Two Witnesses are
ANOINTED in a very special way and are completely unbeatable for a modem of God. Anyway, back to the
reason I don't believe the rapture is connected to the Fall Feasts.
We know that before Christ came into this world, the Holy Spirit was still in operation but only
upon certain anointed individuals who were called into a special service. Kings, priests, prophets
and leaders such as Moses. When the church age came into being, Abba already knew that His Wife (the
Hebrew Jews) would reject him; "the stone that the builders rejected".
Most of the church age after the persecution of Believers era were Gentiles. As Gentiles we didn't
and don't, for the most part, observe the Jewish Feasts. Each feasts is a reflection of great times
of God's deliverance for His Wife, the Jews. All of the feasts hold out great promise for His Wife.
Continued
I used to discuss with John (Boatman) whether the church actually began with Pentecost or was it
when Jesus Anointed his Deciples "go into all the world and preach the gospel", here are some of the
passageS: Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15; Mark 16:16; Luke 24:46; Luke 24:47. John very accurately
believed Pentecost was the time set aside for the enabling and infilling of the Holy Spirit. The
leadership had been established way before then. On the other hand I had been taught that the church
began on Pentecost. Then John pointed me to the Acts passage and I want to copy it here.
Acts 2:41 and 42: Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there
were added [unto them] about three thousand souls.
Act 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of
bread, and in prayers.
In adding 3000 souls, there had to be something to add to, therefore, the church had gathered in the
upper room as Jesus Christ had instructed them to do. And the miracle of all miracles was something
that seldom happens now days: They were all in ONE ACCORD! Perfect unity! God always moves in
those times. Will the rapture happen when we all finally come into agreement and unity? What will it take to get us all there?
I believe we are about to find out! Anyway, just my reasons for what I stated previously. I know that there are many others who have very sound reasons for what they believe and it really helps me to get the weak spots pointed out in what I think. I just don't want to try pinning God down to a certain time frame when even Jesus said "I don't know when, only My Father in Heaven knows!".
Grany
Sorry about the spacing. I have no idea why that happened. I wrote my comment in Notepad so I could see it all together but I didn't put in that paragraph and sentence structure.
Sorry!
Know what you mean, Mr Carroll. It's just that a lot of damage has been done to the study of eschatology and the gospel via some of this speculation.

Hope everyone's summer is going well.

LORI,
Enjoyed watching and hearing Bibi on the Youtube link. Wow, he was young but also, very articulate and maybe, just maybe, he needs to view and listen to what he said back in 1978 again. He wasn't distracted by politics at that time like today's atmosphere has created.
I think they aught to send the Palestinians back to the State of Palestine and that would rid them of their current foolishness of just trying to destroy Israel. It isn't going to happen. Apples, apples, beautiful apples and just think of the husbandman of those apples. Yoowee!
Please tell me if any of you have ever had experience with psychosomatic illness/symptoms? My sister and I have recently been made aware that we were raised by a mother who suffers from borderline personality disorder. This past summer I suffered alot of different symptoms (pain in arms/legs, muscle twitching, fatigue, vertigo)and shared it all with mom. When we decided to have another baby I decided to back away from mom due to many negative comments from her about having children, ect. My symptoms went away at the beginning of the pregnancy/time away from her. I just now correlated the two (very little contact with my emotionally abusive/absent mother and my symptoms dissapearing.
anyone have any thoughts or experience with this sort of thing? It is quite interesting to me as I begin to explore just what this relationship is and how it has effected me.
Thanks!
Oh, having baby boy in 9 days!!! please pray for us!

Anne,
I just drove through Ashland today! We were out of town since last Saturday. Drove down to Redding, CA where one of my sisters, 2 of my brothers, and my Dad live. Had a quick but good visit there. Then went on to Yosemite where we stayed in a tent cabin for 5 days. The weather was perfect and the water falls were flowing heavier than they have in a very long time. God's creation was on stunning display. I've been to Yosemite a few times before but the last time I was there (before this trip) was about 20 years ago. If you haven't ever been to Yosemite and you have the opportunity to go, you really should.
Anyway Anne, back to your question whether all of Oregon was as liberal as Ashland. Well, not all of Oregon. Like most places in America, the big cities are dominated by liberals. Conservatives tend to be in the smaller towns and rural areas. Of course, these are generalizations. You will find those who love the Lord in almost every city. Generally speaking though, Portland, Eugene, Ashland, and Bend have some deeply rooted liberal elements.
On the bright side, Pastor Jon Courson is in Jacksonville, Oregon which is not too far from Ashland. He has a great teaching ministry that is broadcast on a number of radio stations, I believe.

Just came across this Sid Roth web site. Is anyone here familiar with him?
Anne,
Was it you who inquired about how things were going with Daniel a while back? Someone on the blog asked and I never got around to replying. Well, things are still challenging but I know the Lord has us in His hands and will give us the grace, widsom, and strength needed to raise Daniel. One thing that has been a real blessing is a friend at work loaned me two books that she thought might be helpful (given the way I've described Daniel to her in the past). She has a wonderfully gifted son who just finished his first year in college. My friend said that her son was very much like Daniel when he was young. I really like one of the two books in particular. Here's a review. Living With the Active Alert Child
And here are what the author says are the eleven traits of an Active-Alert Child:
Active
Alert
Bright
Controlling
Fearful
Intense
Attention-hungry
Trouble getting along with others
Fluctuating self-esteem
Performers
Empathic ability
I'd say that describes my four and a half year old very well. The only part that would give me pause is the "trouble getting along with others" trait. In some ways, yes (because he tends to want to be the leader and be in control). On the other hand, he really knows how to work people and is extremely friendly to people of all ages.
Even the book reviews were encouraging to read. It helps to know that we're not alone in our struggles to deal with our "Active Alert" child.
Brief book reviews on Amazon by customers who bought the book Living with the Active Alert Child
Diana, what you're describing isn't psychosomatic. What you're describing is the stress or tension of a system causing pain or other symptoms; or emotional pain being "routed" or interpreted as physical pain or physical sensation.
I've had something similar lately, when trying to pack. I would start planning the move, then my lower back would start aching. When I diverted or distracted myself, the pain went away. The pain was/is real; the cause is my anxiety concerning my move. Now I simply take some Advil and keep working.
<><
Jim G., I'll pass that link on. I have a couple friends w/the same type of kids.
They love them dearly of course but they require some extra skill in figuring out the best way to direct them.
Jim, thanks for the tips on Ashland. I'm back home in Minnesota now, just got back last night. If I go for an extended stay again, which I likely will, I'll check out the churches you mentioned. I'm still caring for my grandchildren and will for another 3 weeks or so. It was a big job when I was 25, and much more tiring at this age!
I might have asked about your son, I don't remember for sure. I do remember wondering how your wife was doing. Sounds like the alert child book is helping by helping Daniel.
As I've been dealing with small children the last month or so it occurred to me that the fruit of the Spirit is ever so necessary when dealing with them. The almost-three year old is the most darling thing ever...except when he's not! I found myself praying specifically for love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and SELF-CONTROL a number of times in the middle of his defiant meltdowns. And the Lord answered. I also need wisdom and have received that just in time. I'm not saying this specifically to you, Jim, or your wife. I'm just thinking out loud about my own situation. (Does one think out loud online??)
Very thought provoking article. Every young girl and woman who thinks considers herself both "pro-choice" and "pro-woman" needs to read this. I don't think you can be both.
The War Against Girls
So
We really felt your prayers i must say! We broke down three out of the 4 travel days but did manage to make it there and back. Yesterday was especially trying. Traveling by old car is fun when it isn't breaking down! When we finally got home the car quit-it was done. It did restart after cooling down long enough to be put in the garage. The car may have suffered a lot of new damage on this trip. It has been suggested that we need a complete new wiring harness. c'est la vie. it is always something with old British cars.
Diana
Sounds like you need a long term vacation from Mama.
Perhaps this might help. The Bible commands you to love your parents it does not command you to like your parents. big difference. that put a lot of things in perspective for me. I do love my parents but there are times when I really dislike them and what they do. I dislike what they did in the past but I really have moved way beyond that. However i now don't feel guilty about not liking them and what they do. I choose to love them in spite of their faults. I have also become a lot better when conversations take a turn, mostly with my dad, about ending the conversations and laying ground rules for interactions as well. When a line is crossed I verbally note that a line has been crossed and remove myself from the equation. Also realizing that I was not going to get an apology for things past and choosing to move forward with a fresh start helped. Lo and behold probably 15 years after I realized I wasn't going to get an apology I actually got one. talk about startled
"Traveling by old car is fun when it isn't breaking down!"
Hahahahahahahaha....or not!
A few years ago 4 friends tried to get me to join them in sharing an AC Cobra replica. I said no thanks.
It cost them about $35,000 and they would have spent about $40,000 on fixes. They said it would be fun to drive and I'd miss out. I drove it once and that was enough.
In fact the guys preferred their Merc, Porsche and Beemer to the no air, no power steering, badly handling Cobra.
It spent most of its life in the repair shop and they finally got rid of it for less than what they paid for it.
The mechanic made a lot of money out of it. On one repair he kept telling the guys it would be ready in two weeks - it took a year. No kidding!
They dubbed the car "Two Weeks".
Diana,
I agree with JIB about Mama. One of the hardest things to get over is "being the Boss" role of Mamahood. I loved my Mother with all of my heart but she was so used to being the Command Center of the whole extended family that she wanted to continue it long after all of the siblings were adults. She was a very wise woman, had been the best manager of time, money and resources that she was the one everyone would go to for advice. That included sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and most importantly, daughter and son.
Ending the controlling personality is never easy but it has to be done. You might wonder why it is necessary if you are able to just ignore it. Simple reason: Manipulation and control is of witchcraft according to scripture. It is part of being rebellious in the sight of God simply due to the fact that it isn't God who forces HIS WILL on us; He gives a Free Will and then when we flop, He forgives us and restores us back to full fellowship with him when we repent.
Like JIB said, love them and liking them are two different things. The only one that I have ever been able to truly Love and Like constantly has been my Saviour and Lord, Jesus Christ.
Need encouragement? Listen to this.
It is Well With My Soul
Shalom, all. While I was reading Mark Mallett's latest blog entry, he referenced an essay with an unfamiliar title. That essay was originally published back in October, at a time when I didn't think I had enough time to read it. BIG mistake! The essay is titled The Tiger in the Cage, and I urge you to drop what you're doing (unless, of course, you're carrying something hot or heavy, in which case what are you doing sitting at the computer?) and read this essay.
I am like a tiger in a cage.
Through Baptism, Jesus has thrown open the door of my prison and set me free… and yet, I find myself pacing back and forth in the same rut of sin. The door is open, but I do not run headlong into the Wilderness of Freedom… the plains of joy, the mountains of wisdom, the waters of refreshment… I can see them in the distance, and yet I remain a prisoner of my own accord. Why? Why don’t I run? Why am I hesitating? Why do I stay in this shallow rut of sin, of dirt, bones, and waste, pacing back and forth, back and forth?
Why?
Put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the desires of the flesh. (Rom 13:14)
Make no provision for the desires of the flesh.
Put on the Lord Jesus Christ.
Make no provision for the desires of the flesh.

Anne, I'm w/you. The fruits of the Spirit are crucial in relating w/children.
Because......the first thing they will do is copy NOT all of your GOOD fruits but specifically pick out the most rotten fruits you have to offer & then act it out right in front of your face.
Then you get to see how ugly it really looks though a typically cute little kid.
I've had to tell my daughter: "You're not supposed to copy all of mom's bad habits ~ just copy the good ones!". (Can't they be origional & get their own?!)
My mom only has a week or so left to go so the girls & I are heading back out to S.C. on Tuesday. Probably will be out there a few weeks.
I remember typing this same thing here a couple years ago when I had to go out for my dad. I had a great sense of peace from the Lord then. It was awesome.
Lisa, praying for hat same sense of God's Perfect Peace to flood your soul no matter what the circumstances may be. My heart is with you alng with my prarers. Will you be able to keep in touch with us?
Praying for momma also and that she would know and accept God's Great Shalom.

Lisa, joining Grany in prayer for your mother.
I am sorry for all the typos on the last comment but I was trying to use the keypad on my iPad and I am just not very good at it. Can't see half of what I am doing when I am typing due to the script size being so small. I really enjoy the iPad for a lot of other things and beats lugging a laptop around when we go somewhere. I will adjust and I will figure out a way to type flawlessly, maybe in Heaven.

Well, this may be my last post here for a while. IN three hours my ex-wife comes to pick me up to drive me to Dubuque, where I start work tomorrow. I don't have a place to live, and don't know if I'll be able to get one anytime soon.
Dubuque has turned rough in the past 10 years. There was an influx of gang members coming from out-of-state, applying for Section 8 housing, then going back home to wait until they were qualified. Last year the City struck back, organizing a task force to find and arrest those with outstanding warrants from other states. In the end they arrested and sent home **400** people. The crime rate instantly dropped by half.
So starting this month, Dubuque landlords are **required** to use a free service to run a criminal background check before renting. This should catch anyone with outstanding warrants. The problem is that the Social Security Number is NOT a National ID number -- by law it can't be used to identify a person. So the courts use your birthdate. (Hospitals and pharmacies do the same thing -- if you've ever gone to pick up a prescription and the pharmacist asks for your birthdate, they're not just carding you.)
For some reason, though, not every court has listed the birthdate of the person on their records. So there's no way to show that I am not the "James Carroll" who declared bankruptcy three times and has $25,000 in liens against me.
I know G_D has a place for me. So I'm going up there in hope and faith that G_D will lead me to the place he wants me to live. So until I get internet again, I'll keep you in my prayers.
(Which is not to say that after I get internet again I'll stop praying for you, it's just that I might, you know, get distracted. Not that I have ADHD or anything like that...)
<><
JIM C.,
You, get distracted?! I am going to keep you in my prayers also and specifically that the mess with James Carroll will be SUDDENLY taken care of and out of your area of life. All of God's richest blessings to you Mr. Carroll and I will be looking forward to your keeping us updated on your new journey.
Lisa, how are you doing and how is your momma?
Love to all and have a wonderful Sunday,
Grany
Grany, She's hanging on. I try & talk to her a little bit on the phone but she's weak & it's hard for her to keep a train of thought. Similar dialogue when I spoke to my dad w/Alzheimer’s.
The daily caregiver was telling me last week that she's only got a week left & to get out there ASAP -then I spoke w/the Hospice nurse TH & she said she's in a steady decline & "could" go south @ any point but right now there is no indication that she won't be around for another month or so.
Meanwhile, we've changed the plane reservations 3 times trying to figure out the right time to go & then Melanie came up w/fever barf stuff for a few days & then diagnosed w/a sinus infection.
I’d like to go out the week of the 7th but that didn’t work out w/availability so now it’s the 12th.I spoke w/mom today & the caregiver was in the background asking when we were coming out & when mom relayed it was the 12th – the caregiver quipped back “OK, we’ll see ya if we’re still around then.”
My mom will go as God wills it & He only knows the day/hour. I hope it's after I can get out there to see her. So into His hands I trust my mom & meanwhile I get to deal w/the caregiver & other well meaning people around her.
I know she is being well taken care of in her own home & that is truly a blessing.
LISA,
Know what you mean about the negative reports but remember, they see death everywhere they go and most generally it is what they expect to happen. Leaving no room for God's holding things in place until HIS DAY.
When my mother was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in May of 1996, they only gave her 6 weeks to live, even after the major surgery. She had hospice care but it was a stated condition that there would be no one telling her she was going to die very soon. That was the one condition that my brother and I made on accepting Hospice care. The director was not a happy man because of it but money always talks louder and it was put into the agreement.
Mother made fantastic progress to a certain point but it was truly a very special time that the whole family received great revelation of God's wonderful mercy. I pray that your final days with your Mother will be that sort of blessing to you and your daughters.
Keeping you in my prayers and that all of the 'confusion' is removed from the scene with your mother.
Shalom in the fullest sense to you,
Grany
Thank you Grany ~ Her caregiver is a Christian praise God! Don't know about the Hospice nurse.

That was a good interview
Happy 4th of July!
Hey all, thanks for your prayers!
Ian Paul was born on June 30 at 4 in the afternoon. Weighed 8lbs, 10oz but has lost all of the ounces, please pray he gains weight. I've had to supplement with formula and he keeps spitting that up. My 17 year old daughter even assisted with the birth! She was amazed and I am so glad she was there. She adores Ian. We all adore him and I am in awe of the Lord for giving us a 5th healthy, beautiful child!
Diana

does he keep breast milk down? if he has issues keeping everything down check his tummy for a lump about the size of an olive. if you can feel one he might have pyloric stenosis. you might also try experimenting with different formulas if it is only the formula he can't keep down.
on another note, has anyone noticed that TSA would likely fulfill all that BOO wanted a civilian army with the clout and authority of the military?
as we look to the 4th our pastor preached an amazing message on where we came from with Christian Heritage and it saddens me to see how far we have fallen. I had the passing thought that if BOO is somehow re-elected we are definitely under judgment and that is that. If by some miracle he is not re-elected and someone like Palin or Bachmann is, the end is close but not yet.
In Church today we sang full version God Bless America & all that came to mind were how many laws that are being passed which do not bring glory to God nor will God continue to bless America. We're in the sinking Titanic. Save the lost sheep we're going down! I'm sending out my SOS!
Happy Independence Day, everyone!
so if you are a facebook friend or the friend of a friend on facebook I posted some pictures from the haboob we had last night. very fierce storm and I was badly frightened however through prayer and singing I made it through. I did think the van was going to flip so I turned the car off. turns out not so far fetched as the storm did manage to overturn a semi trailer truck and I was in a minivan! God is good.
this is the second time this week I have encountered divine providence directly. The car was handling funny on Sunday and we had the start of a blowout on the tire with 2 inches about a third of the way from the edge of the tire where the steel belts could be seen. had the tire been in any other position we totally would have missed it and had the blow out on the freeway! Sam's club was close by and they even had the tire we needed as it would have been a really long trip home on the baby tire.
Mom died this morning~ Flying out to SC in the am. Pray for me since it turns out I have to stay @ the house w/mom's JW sister & husband. This is going to be GRIM! She's a real stubborn minded know it all ~ if I can keep my cool it will be from divine help alone! Oye Veh I have to be held up w/JW's S.O.S.!
Here's a great secular article Wisdom & Warning
Lisa
sorry to hear about your mother's passing. praying for grace and wisdom.
on a similar note-my mom wants to talk to her favorite cousin. he is on hospice for liver cirrhosis and cancer. his duaghter is having urgent colon surgery tomorrow. Moe says he is not afraid to die but mom wants to make sure that he is not afraid for all the right reasons. this will be her last chance to see him alive as he is expected to pass in the next month or so and he lives in Maine. pray that mom gets a chance to talk with him. Moe's sister is there and was a professing Christian at one time not sure the state of her faith but pray that a witness will go out. the duaghter who is having surgery is a few years older than me and her name is Tina Marie.
i should note that she is visiting with him tomorrow for about an hour or so
Sorry to hear about your mum, Lisa. Praying for you and family.
Sorry for your loss, Lisa and I'm praying for the Holy Spirit to use you during your time there and of course, comfort for the whole family.
Lisa,
So sorry to hear about your mom's passing. And ditto what Lori said, couldn't have said it better myself.
Alesia
Dear Lisa,
So sad to hear about your mom. May God comfort you and your family, and hold you in the palm of His hand. Also, may He give you the right words to speak to your aunt and uncle.
Vicki
I just got reconnected to the Cave and so many things have happened since I was here last. JIM C. good to see you posting and how about an update on your situation?
Diana, congrats on your new son, Ian! So happy that he is a healthy youngman.
LISA, I have been praying for you all along and I know that God is using you right now as I type this comment. Lori said it all for me and so did Vicki. God's Holy Spirit is right there with you so fear not!
My part of the country is really quite warm, which equates to "HOT" and no, it isn't any different than years past. It is SUMMER!
Have a great weekend and don't let any rocks cry out for you.
Grany
Thanks for your prayers update.
Miss mom & worn out but still livin 4 God's glory. Had a good time w/the JW relatives - they got a real kick out of the kids . I gave them a prayer book on all the names of God. As kids all my moms bros & sis went to Assembly of God Sunday School. I look @ that family now & wondered what happened. Even found dad's Sunday school Bible from a Presby Church.
Mom's caretaker Patty believes she accepted Christ by the end of her sickness. Mom would pause as she walked by the rooms in her house & say "I have such nice things" & Patty who's a Christian would gently encourage her from a biblical view not to hold onto material things in life. Mom would pray every night too.
Small memorial @ a Baptist Church tomorrow then on to deal w/my miser bio-dad who the estate is split with. Going through the family pictures is not helping my saddness because they are reminders of all the wives, kids, lives he's messed up due to his lifelong self-centered behavior. I usually don't spend my time dwelling on it but now since he's " in my face " it's difficult to avoid. I just pray he finds Christ before his time is up. He doesn't appear to reject Christianity but keeps Him at an arms distance.
Anyway, plan on remaining "In Christ" throughout my dealings w/him. May God be glorified & my flesh (who'd love to let him have it!) be crucified to the max.
Aw, Lisa, praying for you! I know we all understand that temptation to let someone in our lives "have it" but bless you for crucifying the flesh and giving God the glory!
Diana
The memorial went well -great sermon & call to fully surrender wills to Christ. We had a real estate & estate sale person come give us the rundown on the house & market. They made it seem doable but pretty bleak w/the slow market & such. Our moms furniture was quality stuff w/a few antiques but they thought it was dated & better to sell it off 1st. Most people want more modern current style items, blah, blah, blah.... If it takes more than the probate 8 mo to sell then their are tax consequences.....blah,, blah, blah...
Then out of nowhere our neighbor calls us up to ask about our plans 4 the house. I figure she wants to know in case she should be on the lookout for suspicious activity or something.
It turns out she has a friend who's been praying about this house for some time because she really likes it and wants to buy it. Not only that but she wants all the furniture & stuff in it. And if that weren't already enough she wants to buy it outright in CASH. She's from an established local SC family & her relative is a real estate lawyer in town so there will not be any closing costs.
So I'm not sure if I should faint now or wait till later.
If this ends up God's will 4 all of us all - its nothing short of a divine miracle. What are the odds?
Wow,that's wonderful, Lisa!
Vicki
Dear Family and Friends,
I am thrilled to be able to tell you that what some told me was impossible has become a reality. I can today make an announcement that sends chills up my spine because of what I now see as a real possibility for the immediate future, a life altering event.
Before I let the cat out of the bag, however, I want to tell you that in the past three years since Unlocking God's Secrets was first published, I have been awestruck by the reception it has received. The book continues to be purchased month after month, with many lives being drastically changed as a result, and countless people all over the world being brought into the kingdom of God. As you might imagine, it is humbling to witness.
Beyond that, though, the thing that has remained a constant amazement to me is that the readers then order ten, twenty, thirty, fifty, and even a hundred additional copies to give to people they care about, so that those people, too, can learn the previously untold truth that there really is proof for such mysterious and questioned realities as the existence of God. I have been flabbergasted to see readers invariably do this. Quite frankly, I can only personally remember being so overwhelmed by a book that I ordered additional copies to give to others, and at that I only ordered a few copies. When I see literally hundreds of readers ordering extremely large quantities to give away, I am speechless. And many of you are in that number.
Unfortunately you may not see the results of what you have done as much as I do, since it is my e-mail address that is in the book. But I can tell you that I do continue to receive messages from strangers whose lives have been dramatically changed, and the messages often start with the phrase, "someone gave me a copy of your book ..."
One sad thing that I have experienced, and I'm sure some of you have as well, is the fact that a portion of the folks who have been given copies never even read the first page. Being unaccustomed to reading books, some people are intimidated by the 400 page Unlocking God's Secrets and therefore never open it to learn the exciting truths it contains. What a tragedy.
With that in mind, plus the desire to create a tool that would be more affordably conducive for such distribution, I set out to create, with God's help, a book that would be extremely short so as not to be intimidating to even a non reader, with a cost of under $5 to help people who want to share the never before seen proof to many others.
The goal was to create a very, very short and inexpensive book that would excitedly and dramatically prove four things to even the die hard skeptic in such a manner that he would in one sitting become convinced that:
1 - God truly does exist
2 - God wrote every word of the Bible
3 - Jesus is divine
4 - Jesus did indeed arise from the dead and is alive today
List Price: $3.87
You read that right. Wonder No More, a book that in only 78 easy to read pages undeniably proves all four of the above goals, is today available for only $3.87, the cost of what some folks pay for a cup of coffee. I encourage you to order a copy by clicking: www.createspace.com/3629315
You may want to order only one copy to read it for yourself to see if what I am saying is true. There is naturally a small shipping charge that can be reduced per copy with multiple orders down to about twenty cents per copy, so if you have any other people already in mind who you think you might like to give a copy to, you may want to take my word for it that this book does in fact accomplish the goals set out for it.
Dear family and friends, as was the case with Musings from Me and My Master, this e-mail to you will be the only marketing device used to launch this book. From this e-mail I will rely on you and God to get this out to the masses. Never before has such a book been available, and I pray that because of it countless souls will learn the Truth who never before might have. It is now in your hands, and God's. Please feel free to forward this e-mail to others. In fact, I hope and pray that you will.
I will tell you that the $3.87 cost was the very lowest price possible by which any retailer would even consider handling it, and at that it will be a little while before the one nationally known book distributor that did agree will be making it available. Even at that rock bottom price, the quality was not compromised. Wonder No More is of the exact same high standard of printing, cover, etc., as are both Unlocking God's Secrets and Musings from Me and My Master. And the book will be sent out within 24 hours of ordering it from www.createspace.com/3629315 . I am confident that you will be as excited about it as I am.
So please take a few seconds right this minute and click www.createspace.com/3629315 and be one of the very first to experience what for hopefully many will be a life changing experience.
Wonder No More
As of today, instead if buying a friend a cup of coffee, for the same price you can give him or her eternal life in paradise. They will be forever thankful.
In Christ's eternal love, Bob
I'm not sure why the note from Uncle Bob showed up in blue and under-lined, sorry about that.
Thanks for that, Lori. I'll check it out later.
Say hi to Uncle Bob for me!
I want to warn all of you of an email supposedly sent from me on my Gmail account announcing that I had received a iPhone 3. IT IS NOT FROM ME!!! Someone from Hong Kong hacked my email address (not known how) and sent messages to everyone in my email account and those of others that correspond with me. I have set my blog up for email notification on comments and that is the only tie in that I can figure out regarding this impostor.
Now the important thing is if you happened to open the message, the real culprit will have added his account that he is doing all of this tormenting from. Go to your contacts, search those contacts for someone whose email address starts with zzss and then proceeds to the rest of his persona. Remove it from your contacts or your account will be used as a method of mass mailings like I had. To date over 300 messages have gone out from him and it will be your account that will be closed down because it shows that your account was used to send spam.
I received a message from Google Mail telling me that this person has been tracked to Hong Kong and when I checked his email address, sure enough, there was hk added to his address designating Hong Kong.
I am very careful about my mailing address but his person is very clever. I am also a security oriented when it comes to the internet. I have since added a whole new realm of security but according to Gmail, it is impossible to do much about this person. I Googled his address and there are many, many pages of complaints about the same person. Because Gmail can be used from any computer it is impossible to know where he is operating from.
Be forewarned that this isn't a joke of any kind and protect yourself.
grany
Grany, Shalom! That's the thing about spoofing -- the spoofer doesn't need to ever have access to your email account; all he needs is your email address. He can get that from any number of sources. Hope you don't get your email cut off entirely.
Lisa, sorry about your Mom, and wow! on the house. Will keep you in my prayers.
Now, an update: I've moved into my new apartment. Mostly. I spent two weeks living in a hotel room and was ready to rent a place sight unseen just to have a place to live, when an apartment in the place that was my first choice became available. It wasn't the one I had looked at earlier, but I took it anyway. The past two weeks, in trying to get moved, have been among the most stressful of my life. My 18-yo daughter had been staying in my place in Iowa City. She was supposed to be taking care of my cats and packing. She did the one but not the other. Apparently she was still of the mind that moving me would be like when she moved out of the dorm: pack at the last minute, throw the stuff in the back of the car, and be off.
That was only the first of a host of things that went wrong. I won't detail them here, but there were only the two of us to carry all the heavy stuff, and she is literally a 120-lb weakling. To cap it off, she got sick. I missed a day of work I hadn't planned on missing, and we didn't even come close to getting everything packed, much less moved into the truck. Neither the bed nor the sofa made it into the truck. With the help of my other daughters we managed to get the truck unloaded, and I moved back into the hotel. My daughter has learned the hard way what a real move is like, and has accepted full responsibility for not finishing the move, and is very sorry.
So this last weekend I rented another truck, and we went back down again. This time, we made much more progress; but she pulled a shoulder early on Sunday and couldn't lift anything heavy for a while. The long and short of it is that we got everything that I needed, but didn't get the apartment cleaned as was required. About 3:30AM we decided to call it quits, and at 4:30 we took off for Dubuque. With one stop for a 15 minute power nap, we got to Dubuque with just enough time to spare for me to take a quick shower at my ex's house and get to work to start a day of training. Last night my daughters all helped unpack this truck, and I spent my first night in my new apartment. I just finished my first dinner here (cooked chicken purchased at the local grocery store, but it didn't come with fries and pop, so I'm counting it as my first meal here). I was up (except for those 15 minutes) from 7:30AM Sunday morning until 1:30AM Tuesday morning. Tonight I'm going to do the very bare minimum needed, get to bed before midnight, and try to recover a bit. This weekend, my ex will drive me down on Saturday and I'll finish cleaning the apartment, and I'll be done.

Sweet dreams, Jim... Sweet dreams.
you deserve it!
Amen on the sweet dreams, Jim. May God bless you!
JIM,
All I could say while I was reading your saga, was "Lord, bless Jim's Heart, big time!". At least you have a place to call home now and as Lori said, 'Sweet Dreams JIm, sweet dreams!'.
Grany
Lori, that's terrific news! I gave a few copies away too. This short version is a great idea ~ I'll have to check & see about the volume discount since I like to pass things out to people & this sounds like a good resource.
Does he have a Kindall version? Lots of people are doing that now instead of physical books. I don't have one since I love the real thing.
I am going to take the next step to buy a webcam & SKYPE. A pastor in Pakistan wants me to meet his Sunday school class of 20 kids & I think tell them Bible stories or something like that. Should be intertesting to say the least.
There is a Kindall version of Unlocking God's Secrets at Amazon. I think the cost is about $7.00. It cost me $1,000 to get that set up. So far there is not one for Musings or Wonder No More.
Love, Uncle Bob
would ask for continued prayers for my brother to find a job. he is getting quite down in the dumps. my mom is of the opinion that he is not living as close to God as he should be since he gives almost any excuse not to go to church (I seem to recall he did it as a teen too but I wasn't home much then). she also noted that despite the fact he is not working he is not lifting a finger to do anything much around the house either-spends all his time playing video games etc. my sister in law is weary and frustrated that she seems to have 4 kids not 3. after having two of their three kids with us for almost two weeks-wow.
be in prayer as my mom and dad drive back to Ohio with the two kids-it has been a rough time for them and not a little stressful.
Jim C
great news!
Praying for all those issues, Jib.
Mac, I think one of my posts got lost somewhere...or else I didn't really post and just thought I did!
I'm wondering if you know something about Constance Cumbey which caused you to remove her blog from your links on "Israel, the Epicenter of the World". I look at her blog on occasion.
I'm watching Caryl Matrisciana's dvd "Wide is the Gate, The Emerging New Christianity". Very informative, though we've talked about this issue much on this blog. I got it through Olive Tree Ministries. I want to show it to other believers who just don't know how dangerous this is, either for themselves or for others who are involved in the emergent church stuff. Sigh.
Hi Anne, I don't see any comments in the spam folder. Perhaps it got sucked into that dark void of cyberspace.
I removed Constance's link some time ago because I thought her blog had degenerated into constant bickering and infighting.I didn't want to send people there then.
Yeah, you're right about the blog-fights on her site. Too bad, since I think she has some worthwhile info now and then.
Lord bless you Jim C!!!
Read this article today and it makes much sense to me. I've never read this take on the topic before but it really does strike something in me. Here is the address but as you all know, I can't blue letter a thing, sorry!

Diana,
Here is your link in blue:
Daniel 7 - The Four Beasts
Looking forward to this weekend -- it will be the first weekend in a month where I won't have to haul stuff around. IOW, I'll get to catch up on my sleep.
<><
Good to hear from you, Jim. I'm missing the privacy of this block what with everyone using Facebook (me included). My FB page looks like a bust New York St!
Anne, I'd been reading at Constance's blog since around 2003. Some things I agreed with her but in other ways I felt she was out on the fringe. But what got me was the continual sniping.
I once made a comment regarding Solana and the ENP (I didn't agree with it) and the guys from Herb Peter's site came across to put their 2 cents worth. In fact they infested the Omega Letter at one point just because Jack disagreed with Herb.
Hmmm....that should read "blog" not "block". Need my coffee!
Oy and bust should read BUSY!
I, too, miss the privacy of the cave! I rarely post on facebook anymore, and don't check there as often as I check here for comments. The cave seems a small gathering of friends while facebook is more like a huge party and not enough time to talk with very many, and no desire to search out many of the links posted.
Haven't heard from Grany for a while. I feel like I need a Grany pep talk.
Howdy from Hot Okieland!
Sitting her with my kitty kat on my lap, typing and enjoying the after taste of my homemade chili. My nose runs freely after eating a bowl of the worm killing stuff that I made and I feel like purring.
But I have to tell you all, I have missed each and everyone of you. Facebook is OK but you know, you are all like family to me and some of the things that get posted on FB just cringes my insides. We have seen so many friends kinda sliding into cheap talk on FB and it really does grieve me.
One reason it does that is because it is out there for the whole world to read and that includes THE WHOLE WORLD. I have my account set up for friends only but it just so happened that someone I never heard of sent me an email quoting what I had posted a few weeks ago. How in the world did they access my account. But they were nice enough.
Anyway, progress and new ideas will keep on happening and by golly, I will learn to use them, hopefully, to share THE LOVE OF MY LIFE.
I read Jack's latest Omega letter and it is so very true to what we are experiencing right now. He was speaking about the change of Campus Crusade for Christ and how just removing the one word in the title seemed to be a major poor choice by the new leadership.
Grany
I hit the enter button instead of the space key. Ooops!
Just wanted to add that the World can take the name of Christ out of print or conversations but they can't take Christ out of ME!
Hallelujah!
You all are my "inner circle" Christian cyber friends. I have been meeting some on fire Christians via FB but the most diappointing point is the Christains I know in person only talk about their kids, the things they do & the trips they take. Not that its bad to share those things but they never acknowledge Christ in their lives on FB.
I can always count on you Jim C for those blue letter links, thanks!! Now, someone is suppose to read it and comment, lol. I know everyone has read there share on the topic. This was interested me so much because it lays out the case for America being the nation where the antichrist comes from. It is very insightful and I had not thought about things in that way before.
It is nice to have the cave and not just facebook. I rarely post to either place anymore though. I am always reading updates and such. I do prefer to be here though! You all are such a blessing!
Diana
Diana, you're welcome! I did post a link to that article on Catholic Answers Forum and got some interesting replies. One person pointed out that, continuing on that train of thought/typology, Russia (i.e., the Soviet Union) makes for a better "little horn" than does the USA.
Rather than try to repost the entire response, here's a link to the page with his original analysis (scroll down to post #417), then go to the next page and scroll down to post #429 for my reply.
Great to hear from you, Grany.
Jim how're you settling in?
I know my mom has expressed some disappointment in that a mutual facebook friend whom we both have known since she was born (she's about a year younger than me :-) )rarely mentions Christianity in the positive. when she does mention something it is usually to bash fundementalists. I am not saying that some of her criticism is not absolutely right but still that is all she posts. much more is posted that makes my eyebrows go up.
i tend to check in on wednesdays since that is when I have no access to my facebook account and work has been really busy. honestly i check the follow comments and check my email every other day. if there isn't a comment in the email i sometimes don't bother to come here.
quick question though. we would take our nephews out to favorite places to eat while they were here as a special treat. they rarely eat out and we eat out too much. however the oldest one was always commenting on how something was "not the best he'd ever had" once even before tasting something. I told him i found his negative comments uncalled for and yet he continued to make them. If I heard my son make such a comment he wouldn't sit-whether it is true or not it is certainly rude and impolite to say so when someone else is footing the bill. So, should i say something to my brother and his wife or not?
Jib, I'd say they've picked it up from someone - maybe parents or friends.
Tough call whether to mention it to their parents or not. You might raise the topic in a matter-of-fact fashion.
Caveat emptor - I am notorious for giving bad advice.
Re FB; I notice that Christ In Prophecy draws some people with really bizarre religious beliefs.
All I can say is - Come, Lord Quickly!!
Jib,
How old is he? That sounds like a comment an adult would say, not a kid. So, I think he picked it up from parents maybe! I wouldn't say anything to them but would still insist that he not make those comments while with you.
Thanks Jim C on the links. Interesting reads certainly.
New post is up.
