Heb 12:1-2

Heb 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

Heb 12:2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Mr. Hyde? I worry about you. I mean I used to be OK with your general Australianess, but today, I wonder if I should actually be afraid of you. A bit of backstory:

Chris Baldwin used to do the web comic Little Dee. It was something I read daily and loved much, with its "Peanuts"-like wisdom. However, he JUST ended it, as he felt it was growing stale, and branched out into a new direction, a VERY new direction: Spacetrawler. I won't begin to try to describe it; you'll just have to start from the beginning and decide if you like it. (It's only published on Mondays and Wednesdays, so it won't take you that long to come up to speed.) Warning: occasional strong language content.

In Monday's episode, Dimitri, the laid-back Russian, and Dustin, the mad Australian who was "...mistakenly shanghaied in place of his brother, Bill", are trapped in the spaceship lounge by space pirates. In the reader's comments for this episode, one person wrote:

Australian vs Aliens? Bet on the man from the death-world.
(NSFW)
(NSFW = Not Suitable For Work) He then included this link to a very foul-mouthed yet apt description of the wildlife of Australia, promoting the entire continent as the ultimate "bada$$". The last paragraph begins, Australia is a psychotic, cold-blooded murderer that would swallow you whole if you so much as left the front door of your house (and this is assuming that your Sydney Funnel Web barricades are in working order).

So I just have to ask: Are you feeling alright?

Ooops! Congress loses health care plan under Obamacare?
Clarice Feldman
In what appears to have been a laughable oversight, Congress seems to have stripped itself of its very generous healthcare plan and I don't see how they an undo the damage without conceding (a) they never read the Act before they passed it; and (b) they certainly expect to get better treatment under the law than they are forcing on the rest of us.

Tom Maguire has the details:

However, the language causing the problem is this:

§ 1312(d)(3)(D)(i), specifically requires that:

the only health plans that the Federal Government may make available to Members of Congress and congressional staff with respect to their service as a Member of Congress or congressional staff shall be health plans that are--

(I) created under this Act (or an amendment made by this Act); or (II) offered through an Exchange established under this Act (or an amendment made by this Act).

For new Congressman and staffers to whom this applies, the result is clear, at least after 2014. For incumbents, it is not clear what Congressional intent was, how a court might resolve this, or who would proceed with a suit.

Business as usual.

Grany, that story reminds me of something I learned in my 7th-grade Iowa History class. One of the representatives was known for voting by saying, "If it's good for (my county), I vote aye!" One day one of the other reps introduced a motion to deny that county representation in the state legislature. After being assured by the people around him that "yes, this is good for your county", he voted yes. He was quite upset to learn that he had just voted himself out of a position; the legislation was repealed, and he never voted without reading the bill first!

Speaking of citrus smells, I bought some wonderful little Dandy Meyer Lemons and they are great. They are a little bigger than a Keylime but are cross bred with lemon and a mandarin orange. I made a fantastic White Chocolate Dandy Meyer Lemon tart that made Jim melt. Used my Agave nectar and oh, boy does the house smell wonderful.

But there isn't a better scent than citrus imo.

If any of you have a little extra cash on hand and can't decide what to do with it, Dr.Fruchtenbaum's group could use some help. I have asked my kids to donate to them instead of Mother's day gifts. They will appreciate it one day by not having to cart all of my personal belongings away.

Too pretty to stay inside any longer so I will check back later.

United States offers Europe an interfaith model
("America" is thought of as an "interfaith experiment")

.......

Lee Penn, a Roman Catholic writer and author of the 2004 book "False Dawn: The United Religions Initiative, Globalism, and the Quest for a One-World Religion," said the URI, whether or not it intends to, provides the basis for a coming global religion. "Under President George W. Bush and President Obama, American civil religion is now interfaith," encompassing what Mr. Obama in his inaugural address called a "patchwork heritage" of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus, and nonbelievers, Mr. Penn said. "Officially, Christian America is no more."

"The interfaith movement is growing worldwide and the United Religions Initiative is one of its leading organizations. The URI, in time, aspires to have the visibility and stature of the United Nations. "In short, global governance and interfaith are now normal and accepted ideas for secular and religious leaders worldwide. The new world order is not science fiction; it is being built now. The question is not whether there will be a new world order; it is who will control it and for what ends."

I found something for our science buffs and especially our two Jim's. You have to give this a try and then please tell me what you think. It is called Database of Periodic Tables and as soon as I get my batteries replaced in my mouse, I will wander over there and give all of the data a spin.

There is one that is at the top of the list called 2001 Mayan Periodic Table and it will be the first one I will try. Maybe the bug will bite me good enough that I can get excited about it too.

My hubby is wondering why I am so upset with BOO HOO and saying things like "I don't understand what is so wrong with him', you never get this upset about politics, etc." I watched a program last night that helped to explain it but as I was trying to form my response to him, I felt a very strong word spring up inside of me. It was "deluded" and "reprobate mind".

Not wanting to see the true person and now I am on a search for the true meaning of "reprobate mind". I know what I think it is but I want to be sure.

I would rather he have a "rebate mind" then he could get something back.

Chasing anything that leads away from the Gospel or another way of saying, from the Holy Presence of God.

This film represents a remarkable partnership between Proctor & Gamble and Walmart in a quest to "influence for good" prime time television entertainment. This is a unique effort on the part of several friends who started discussing the need and opportunity for family-friendly entertainment in the prime time hours.

There is definite enthusiasm to produce similar ongoing entertainment, but it does depend on one thing.... that is...an audience of folks who care about the same issues, will take the time to watch this and perhaps communicate their supportive comments to NBC. It would also be enormously helpful to spread the word about this program this coming Friday night. Thanks in advance for helping.

Lisa,
You know I didn't even think of checking their whole site because the commentary was almost identical to what I read in a couple of my books here. One is the Matthew Henry published and the other one is from Nelson Publishers and then another one that I can't recall. But JEN let me know about it and I do apologize for not checking it out. However, the information about the passages is right on.

I remember now, the other source was the Berean's comments on Reprobate mind. I will try to find that link for you all.

I just can't get used to any group or so called ministry that decide to go such a crooked pathway on scriptures. To me, the whole thing is a little under handed but then, what is so new about that?

I found the Amplified Bible had a fantastic version of the passage and I will post that one as well. But what I am finding is so much more involved than I had any idea of. As I was reading the different commentaries I had this big question inside me: Will this all be the result of those left behind when the church is Raptured or is this going to happen only after we are gone? It sure did bring to mind "as it was in the days of Noah" and I can't find any comfort in that one.

But right now, I am keeping myself encouraged with this "surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever". Yes!

Even before Armstrong died the WWCOG had splinter groups setting up their own ministries. It's astonishing just how many of them there are out there and have websites pushing Armstrong's teachings. They also teach the Sabbath (Saturday) worship is obligatory. It appears to be a form of the same cult I used to be a member of.

From that website:

"After Herbert W. Armstrong's death in January 1986, John Ritenbaugh and his family, among others, watched with growing concern as the administration of the Worldwide Church of God (WCG) changed one doctrine after another."

This is the kind of apostate rubbish that appears in my local paper. I'm looking for an e-mail address to send a comment:

*******

A NEW minister at Northcote Uniting Church will focus on helping children explore their spirituality. Alexandra Sangster recently took up a part-time position at the church alongside long-time minister Daryl Colless, who retires to Castlemaine in the next year or two.

‘‘There are a lot of young families in Northcote but there is not much happening in the area of kids’ spirituality,’’ Ms Sangster said. ‘‘Children are born with a sense of wonder (she is the mother of a seven-month-old baby and children 3 and 4).’’

On the second Sunday of each month, Ms Sangster plans to hold child-orientated sessions titled ‘‘Sacred Child Sacred Space’’ during which she will share ‘‘faith stories’’.

Her ministry would be progressive and inclusive and although based on the Christian tradition, she would also encourage exploration of Muslim, Buddhist, Jewish, indigenous, Hindu and other pathways to God.

‘‘I will invite people from different faith traditions to talk to the kids about what it’s like to be a Buddhist, for example,’’ she said.

‘‘The essence of Christianity is about love, hospitality and grace. There’s nothing exclusive about that story.’’

Ms Sangster, an Abbotsford resident with a background in professional acting and drama teaching, said she was looking forward to getting involved in Darebin’s arts community.

‘‘The arts are a powerful way of connecting people into a sense of the sacred,’’ she said.

I recently began to study up on the ministry of deliverance & have come across this question Can a Christian have a demon? So far the opinion of the front line deliverance ministries is - yes.

(Front line - I mean the ones actually casting the things out.)

I don't really WANT to consider that a possibility- ICK!- but if it's so then I guess better to know the truth.

Lisa,

Just got back in today from a short family reunion which was just wonderful.

Before retiring, I decided to take a look at some of the blogs that I read, and your mention of demons possessng Christians, caught my attention.

I don't believe that the question is answered specifically in the Bible. But I would shout a resoundng "NO WAY."

I know that I have been born-again and that this body is the home of the Holy Spirit and my Savior. I do not believe that either would share this temple with a demon.

About a month ago, a teenage Native American brought this question up at one of our "chats around the campfire."

We had a great discussion on it, and someone suggested that everyone do a search to see if we could find an article or commentary supporting our individual ideas.

The following is one that I remember the most and was able to find it for you.

http://www.christiananswers.net/q-esp/esp-demonpossession.html

Hope all is well with everyone and those of you who were able to have a spring break made the most of it.

I know I did, and after being around so many of my grandchildren and great grandchildren and those of my siblings, I feel 30 years younger. This year I took my wife's advice and paced myself.

And, it is good to be back home too.

In Christ,

Hey Lisa,
I seem to remember someone (Jim C?) maybe talking about possession vs. affliction/oppression. My heart, like Avi's, jumped immediately to "no" at the thought and then immediately went to 2 Cor 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!"
I'd say the old is our sin-nature where the devil had access, but the new creation is now all about Jesus' righteousness imparted to us (vs. 21 - For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.) There's no mixing of light and dark in the new creation as that would mean Jesus could mingle with the enemy he defeated. That's not to say the dark won't launch a massive attack, but I don't believe Scripture teaches that the dark can possess something that's now possessed by God.

That's my off the cuff 2-cents!

Blessings,
Jen

Can a well contain both sweet and bitter water? But remember what Jesus shed His blood for, the remission of sin. Holy Spirit does not cohabitate with evil and that is what a demon is. But You already know that!

Now, do you believe that Satan or his agents can come through the Sinless Blood of Jesus Christ?

I believe that the enemy of our souls can tempt, attack, suggest, and try all manner of subterfuge to coax us into sin. Remember the passage where God's word tells us "that when the enemy comes in like a flood the Lord lifts up a standard against him." His promises are designed to keep you safe and protected but when we step out away from God, that is when it gets fierce.

I do believe a true Christian can go seeking after things that are not of God because God did not do away with our free will. However, I know for a certainty that the Holy Spirit will always give us a goodly amount of warning when we do that. If a believer won't listen to the Holy Spirit, then our Shepherd will send others to reach out to lead us back to the fold. A good example would be after the crucifixion Jesus reappeared to Peter because Peter was in deep remorse and on very dangerous ground. Jesus, by appearing to Peter showed this disciple that He still loved him even though Peter had denied him.

How do I know this? The same way every other Christian does. Been there and done that. I didn't deny the Lord but I was very angry with God about the divorce I went through. God sent a precious Christian Lady who knew nothing of the past and hit the nail on the head when she said to me "Wilma, you need to quit being angry with God. He didn't cause the situation" and then went on to tell me in detail what had happened. There is no way she could have known because she was a total stranger to me and I had not shared anything about it with anyone where I was living.

The pathway back can be a very dangerous journey and filled with potholes and dead end trails. That is why we are admonished to keep to the straight and narrow road. Danger always lurks on and in the ditches and side streets.

Even anger, resentment, hostilities, unresolved conflicts, manipulating behavior, a controlling personality and the list goes on but it can by even one of these things allow you to be an easy target for the enemy's attacks. We all have to learn to slam the door shut on all of that stuff if we are going to live and work in and with the fullness of God's purpose and calling for our lives.

Can a Christian have a demon?

Did you all read the link? I can't throw out the "yes" quite yet.

The "Blood on the Doorposts" book goes into an in-depth explanation on how we are made up. Body-physical, Mind/Soul- thoughts/memoirs, and Spirit.

What the link stressed is that a Born Again Christian is made alive in the "Spirit" and a demon cannot fool w/that. (Read the passages listed which support this.)

Our flesh (demons can cause sickness) and our soul/mind (demons can create mental anguish)
are still open for attack.

So for instance if you opened yourself up to demonic oppression
(pre-born again) then they could still reside around you to hassle you.

(I’m not talking about demonic “possession” where they take over-The deliverance experts say this is impossible for true Christians.)

If you didn't have any demonic issues pre-born again then you probably wouldn't ever have an issue as long as you grow in the Spirit & don't open yourself up to occult activities or gross sinful negligence.

I get what your saying about being the "temple of the Holy Spirit" and light/dark. That makes complete sense to me too.

But- isn't it worth hearing out what the Born Again Christians have to say who are actually in the deliverance ministry and dealing with these issues on a daily basis?

If they have clearly delivered Born Again Christians from demonic oppression then what gives?

It's either true or it isn't- right?

I guess I'm just a little more open to hearing people out before I make a firm decision-so I'll keep checking it out but I do appreciate the input of course.

Late Night Lisa said...

Here is a list of demonic affliction & manifestation terms from the "Blood on the Doorposts,an advanced course in Spiritual Warfare" book.

1.)Fiery Darts: Thoughts & feelings fired at us by Satan. All Christians experience these. They are to be rebuked & resisted as soon as possible in the name of Jesus.

2.)Mild oppression: More serious or chronic problems w/the thought or emotional life: depression, anger, bitterness, impure thoughts, physical illnesses, etc. This is an invasion of the body (& occasionally the soul) by the enemies of Jesus. Usually, at this stage, they cannot remain long w/o the person's consent.

3.) Oppression: Similar to the above, but more frequent, almost constant attacks on one's physical, emotional, or moral well-being. Here, the "squatters" begin to stay longer in the body, and even in the soulish realm.

4.) Mild Demonization: Involves more or less permanent occupation by demons, but usually only in a few key areas where the person has either consistently sinned or been sinned against. They remain in the body and the soul.

5.)Severe Demonization: This involves an increase in either the depth of the oppression or the number of spirits indwelling the person. Usually, radical & almost permanent changes in the character occur here. Frequently the person begins to act in a manner which mimics psychosis. He or she may exhibit supernatural powers (telepathy, psychokinetic, etc.), knowledge (foreign languages, ect) or strength.

6.) Possession: Impossible for true Christians, but common enough among unbelievers all over the world, especially those involved in habitual and serious sin, occultism or generational bondage.

7.) Perfect Possession: This is rare, where there is literally "no-one home" except demonic strongmen. Usually, the human personality is so submerged that there is no sign of outward tension. Some of the great, supernaturally powerful leaders of our day were probably "Perfectly Possessed." They had so surrendered themselves over to Satan that he was able to work lying signs and wonders through them. Examples of such people would likely be Hitler, Charles Manson, "Rev". Jim Jones, Sai Baby, Saddam Hussein, etc...

May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.

May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.

May you be content knowing you are a child of God.

Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.

April 10, 2010 -- Gary Kah from "Understanding the Times 2009"

Is that right?

This article is quite revealing (and disturbing).
Interfaith movement gains new strength
Breaking barriers, creating bonds with other religions

Excerpt from the article:
It involves unlikely support, such as that offered by the Obama White House, which has identified interfaith work as a public policy goal. President Obama's Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships has an "interreligious dialogue and cooperation" task force that includes a female Hindu priest, an Orthodox Jewish layman, a female Muslim pollster, a nondenominational evangelical Christian pastor, a pastor and black civil rights leader, and a Muslim youth worker.

It benefits from some unlikely backing. Some of the biggest movers and shakers in the interfaith movement are governments in Muslim states: Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan.

Heads — or former heads — of state are likewise involved. Soon after British Prime Minister Tony Blair retired, he founded an interfaith foundation in London to "promote respect and understanding about the world's major religions and show how faith is a powerful force for good in the modern world."

Why can't we have happy natural disasters? Why do we have to have volcanoes that look like creatures from the underworld coming to rob us of our lives and our Twinkies? Why can't we have the dark roiling clouds coming towards us with smiling faces, saying, "Hi, there! I'm happy to eat you!", making us feel wanted. [...sigh...]

Lisa,
BOO making that remark dresses him in the proper attire. But your comment: "(You know, I really woudn't want to be Obama shooting my mouth off right now. If he only knew...)" that is exactly what I am praying for. That the blinders will come off of his eyes, mind, and HEART to the reality of God's word thereby making his beloved Koran of no consequence. That he meet the Lord of lords and King of kings full force in the halls of that great big house he now occupies. Bigger than a Damascus Road experience because he is definitely going to need it. I have to keep reminding myself of the scripture that tells us that our leaders are set in place by the will of God. Somehow, there has to be a deeper meaning to that passage because I don't believe God would have chosen some of these characters parading in front of all of us at this time.

But, Lord, I am willing to be shown the truth of YOUR WORD.

I just read something that I want to share with you all. I don't agree with this person's perspective of the Body of Believers because to me it means that we quit believing God's word. That will, undoubtedly, be the goal of the religious frozen solid, no emotions, no love group that attend church for political and social correctness. But I would have to dead and so cold for that to be me.

So, if you are even thinking of becoming like this article paints us, don't bother me with your criticism. I would much rather be received with open arms and a hug than become vomit in the mouth of my Savior.

THE COMING EVANGELICAL COLLAPSE Don't you believe a word of it. Written by a person that wouldn't recognize Jesus if he appeared in front of him? Maybe or just maybe it makes good journalistic analysis.

campsmore said...

I have posted more than 100 total news links on the site. Well, things don't slow down just because you leave town.

On that note, Geoff's funeral was beautifully done. Several people came forward to testify to the ministry of reconciliation that Geoff so exemplified. Many couples came forward to tell how their marriages were saved, one couple had been divorced several years. "She" went thru the divorce care ministry and graduated after the 3rd try. (her own words) She said she had been kicked out of many divorce care ministries because of her anger.

Others came forward to tell funny stories and some of heroism. Geoff was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam and took the "40 yr old bullet" that would eventually claim his life. He recovered bodies from an nuclear accident off the coast of Spain.

Geoff's granddad worked with Thomas Edison and Geoff inherited the inventor gene. Even as a youngster he was always inventing or as his brother put it, "blowing things up." He said he and the other siblings were afraid to go into Geoff's room. He even rigged up an indoor cage to his open window to allow wild animals into his room so he could observe their behavior.

His youngest brother ended up becoming his "test-dummy." Geoff created a small airplane, had his brother Bill sit inside, while he pulled it on a motorcycle with a rope. The plane lifted about 5 feet into the air, which scared Bill half out of his mind and when he let out a scream, Geoff abruptly stopped to see what all the comotion was about, which stopped the plane and caused it to fall to the ground with his "test-dummy" aboard.

This same brother hadn't had communication with Geoff or his own son for 15 years. They are now reconciled.

He had full military honors. Playing of the taps brought all, big and small to tears.

Beth could still use prayer, she is understandably upset and now has major decisions to make regarding their 3 story log home, which Geoff built with his own hands. Her church will be spending more time with her in the coming weeks to help her make rational decisions about her future.

Geoff always shared the Lord with his siblings, we pray for the salvation of; Bill, Scott, Sally and Mary.

There's so much more I could say about Geoff, but there's not enough room here.

Great Grany 5 said...

LORI,
You did great with the space you have. Geoff sounded like someone we would all enjoy knowing. I will keep Beth in my prayers too.

I took a nap this afternoon and I feel very groggy. The weather changed abruptly and it has been kinda rainy all day so what do you do when it is like that? Sleep or read?

I got to thinking about the remark that the Big Boo made and Lisa posted. We all know he has opened up some very dangerous grounds and I just want to encourage all of you to pray for him. Stand in the gap for him to be saved (really, really saved) just as someone stood in the gap for each one of us before we were saved.

It has really affected me that he would have such a arrogant attitude but I seem to remember another leader in the Old Testament that did a similar thing and all of a sudden a finger started writing a message on the wall for all of them. Destruction followed not long after.

I cannot and will not quit until the Holy Spirit releases me from the burden.

I thought people would be interested in this. "Icelandish" is a blog I ran across trying to find a translation for the name of the volcano that's erupting in Iceland. It's an interesting blog, with observations about tourist being stuck there (including one who got rerouted there on her way to Tahiti.) About 2/3 of the way down, there's a map that shows the earthquakes and eruptions that have been affecting the area since the first of the year. As I say, interesting.

A little humor...........

My son the...

An older couple had a son who was still living with them. The parents were a little worried, as the son was still unable to decide about his career path, so they decided to do a small test.

They took a ten-dollar bill, a Bible, and a bottle of whiskey, and put them on the front hall table. Then they hid, hoping he would think they weren't at home.

The father told the mother, "If he takes the money, he will be a businessman; if he takes the Bible, he will be a rabbi; but if he takes the bottle of whiskey, I'm afraid our son will be a drunkard."

So the parents took their place in the nearby closet and waited nervously, peeping through the keyhole they saw their son arrive home.

He saw the note they had left, saying they'd be home later. Then, he took the 10-dollar bill, looked at it against the light, and slid it in his pocket. After that, he took the Bible, flicked through it, and took it also. Finally, he grabbed the bottle, opened it, and took an appreciative whiff to be assured of the quality, then he left for his room carrying all the three items.

The father slapped his forehead, and said, "Oiy vey! It's even worse than I ever imagined..."

"What do you mean?" his wife inquired.

"He's gonna be a politician." the father replied.

Obama's "Science Czar" Wants to Change American Families

Here are some excerpts:
Take a look at just a few of the ‘solutions’ to the ‘population crisis’ endorsed by John Holdren, Obama's new ‘Science Czar’ …

•He claims that existing ‘equal protection’ laws could be used to enforce compulsory abortion in America.

•Holdren — Obama's top ‘scientific’ appointee — wants to force single mothers to give up their babies for adoption.

•He proposes that we give ‘civil rights’ to inanimate objects like lakes, rivers and mountains, just as other inanimate objects like corporations and foundations already have legal rights.

•Obama's ‘Science Czar,’ even looks favorably on adding sterilization drugs to drinking water and food supplies.

But there's more you should know about John Holdren, Obama's ‘Science Czar,’ and it's this …

•Holdren deeply believes that global warming is caused by too many people, and the solution is ‘whatever it takes’ to have fewer people, including abortion, forced sterilization and euthanasia.

Also a thought that crossed my mind. Due to an incident that happened to my daughter a couple of years ago, we learned that there is new meaning to 'Terrorism" as defined by law. Any threat to our safety by an individual that would result in our physical injury or death is considered an act of terrorism.

Wonder if our precious legislature is aware of that definition? ACLU has used it in the past.

I also listened to the link that ATTY posted and correct me if I am misinterpreting it, but he is coming from a post trib view, no rapture.

Is that what you also determined?

I listened to another link from the Lamb and Lion site from Bill Scott. That was most definately post trib.

Let me know what your take was on it.

I do agree that there is so much afoot and it is time to be absolutely serious about my relationship with the Lord and how I am living. I absolutely must be able to hear His voice.

I listened to ATTY’s link as well. I enjoyed listening to Monte Judah’s take on the 70 weeks. Personally, I think the standard premil view is more compelling.

He definitely is post-trib. However, he needs to check his sources and cite them when he makes statements re pre-trib history on his website. Apart from that, I checked his background and found some troubling things – he holds that the 613 commandments are still in force, he doesn’t think the book of Hebrews is inerrant - among other things. I’d advise doing some research on him for yourselves.

Grany,
some interesting comments and observations in which there are some that are more than likely true. I do think we'll see some of this happen but I think what he misses is that this will be a winnowing out of the true remnant.

I find it interesting that so many want to claim that evangelicals are digging their own grave by concentrating on cultural issues such as gay marriage and abortion. We talked about this very thing this morning in Sunday school. The teacher made the point that if you were allowed one question of God while standing before Him and you asked why did you allow all these bad diseases, natural disasters etc to happen and God's response might be something to the effect that He sent 10's of 1000's of children which were killed with abortion-where were our voices? I think also what people like this man forget is that yes we are called to be salt and light to the culture. Where I think we have failed is trying to do a completely top down approach instead of a bottom up approach as well. I think that in addition to trying to concentrate on the national stage we also should have put more effort into our local stage. I think he was absolutely correct in saying that we have failed to teach the next generation the core principles of why we believe what we believe such that they could stand against the onslaught of a culture gone wild. I also think we should have been more concerned with our friends and family. You can't change a culture from the top down-you have to change the individual and go from the individual to the culture.

Great Grany 5 said...

He is most definitely Post-trib and for my take on his presentation, He is Post Trib! If I pick up the bible without any relationship with the author, I can go in a million and one directions just by reading different books therein. Same thing if I want to argue a preset disposition to what I believe will happen. No matter who tells me what, I will probably stick with that mind set until one of many things happen. But that is just a common way of figuring things out. One of the reasons I believe we will go when God is good and ready for us is, are you ready for this one?, HE'S GOD AND WE ARE NOT! His ways are not our ways and this thoughts are not our thoughts. We cannot lean to our own understanding but we have to trust him in all that we do.

That makes it a whole lot simpler and I don't get disappointed down the road when I learn things like this. "He only wrote the books to make money and had no training what so ever to develop a realistic approach to scriptures. Or maybe this one; "His life style belied his declared dedication to discovering God's truth".

So, if we leave here Pentecost Sunday, I will be with you all. But if not, I will post my comment on the following Monday.

As for our interest in social and political issues as a Christian, pulleeeeezzze for crying out loud, what great brain came up with that one. We are citizens of heaven, granted but in the meantime, we live here on earth and our care for mankind is part of the great commission.

Just quit the ice cream socials and fish fries as money raisers. As far as Israel being in deep do do because they have angered BOO HOO and Company. More horse pocky! With Yahweh, who needs DC? In fact, the sooner they cut the umbilical cord to the USOBOO HOO, the sooner God can get their attention.

There will be a whole new meaning to our Star Spangled Banner being sung before too long.

Hi Grace. I'm pre-trib.

Monte Judah is post-trib and so is Dewey Bruton (author of the Daniel's Timeline video series on Youtube), but I wouldn't discount the rest of what they say just because of their rapture doctrine. Nobody gets it ALL correct anyway. We're all building on each other's understandings, a little bit here, a little bit there, just like Isa 28:10 says..."For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line, Here a little, there a little."

Late Night Lisa said...

Does it not seem that looking at things from a "Jewish" perspective lends it's self to a post-trib view? The pre-tribs believe that the (woman) Jewish believers will be protected @ the point they flee Jerusalem from the Anti-Christ. There is no protection promised to the Gentile believers during the Trib. They will be "aided" w/a little help but the A/C has free reign to go after & kill them.

So the Jewish believers & the Gentile believers cannot be combined into one scenario during that time period.

Jim G. said...

Lisa,

Monte Judah believes that Jesus is the Messiah. If his faith is in Christ, wouldn't he be raptured with all others who have placed their faith in Christ? I assume he doesn't believe that he would be left behind should Christ return before the Great Tribulation.

If that is the case, then I don't see how looking at things from a "Jewish" perspective would lead one to a post-trib view.

Jim G. said...

I tend to agree with that "Jewish believers & the Gentile believers cannot be combined into one scenario during that time period" if one begins with a Pre-Trib framework.

I realized this is so much easier to say than to do (and I am preaching to myself as much as anyone) but I think we should try our best to let Scriptures shape our theological viewpoints and doctrine rather than let our theological viewpoints and doctrinal presuppositions shape the way we understand Scripture.

I think he would be raptured Pre-trib as he is currently a believer-Jewish or not.

But it seems quite a few Jewish believers don't "see" the pre-trib in scripture because of their own perspective on the 2nd coming. For them Jesus comes back once @ the end & they say God will protect them though the Trib.

Now I just went back & read 1 Thess- "we who are STILL alive & remain...."

Now it kind of seems like we would be lucky to "Still" be alive.

I don't know- maybe it's just my mood tonight. }:

By the way, I just wanted to say that I know Monte Judah has a questionable past, just like Michael Rood and so many others, but I honestly think God uses everybody to find one or more pieces to the puzzle for the greater good of all. At least that's been my experience from the morsels I pick up along the way. I'm not saying that even most of what Monte Judah says is correct, but if just one small thing he or someone else says is correct, then that clue could be the key to unlock many other things we've possibly been wrong about.

Sometimes even when someone says something we immediately know is incorrect, it opens our mind and eyes to something we haven't considered before and for that reason, it could be beneficial as well.

God Bless,

2 Corinthians 12:9-10
But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Psalm 34:18
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Psalm 37:39
The salvation of the righteous comes from the LORD; he is their stronghold in time of trouble.

Psalm 46:1-2
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.

Psalm 48:14
For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.

Revelation 21:4
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

God never gives strength for tomorrow, or for the next hour, but only for the strain of the minute.

Oswald Chambers

Snuggle in God's arms. When you are hurting, when you feel lonely, left out. let Him cradle you, comfort you, reassure you of His all-sufficient power and love.

He has held me when I have had no more strength and have wondered how I would ever make it. He has held me when I have felt defeated by all that I had to do. When I have run to my El Shaddai, I have never come away wanting. He is my all-sufficient One. O Beloved, do you understand? Have you experienced Him as your El Shaddai? If not, He is waiting - arms opened wide - for you.

I will gladly pass on your condolences to Marge and I know she will appreciate them.

And Lisa, I know exactly what you mean. Knowing that He cares so greatly for all of us, that he has never left or forsaken us is the one promise that has kept me so many dark and threatening days of my life. That He sent Jesus to die for each and everyone of us and more besides is so mind boggling that it is beyond comprehension. But He does and I can say this in all sincerity, I am very much aware of when He is holding me up.

If I could pray one thing for all of you it would be "Keep them from all harm, deception and keep them in perfect harmony with you, Father." To think that any of you would have to suffer in any manner is repulsive to my soul and brings me to the Throne immediately. In unity we can accomplish the impossible, reach to the end of the earth for the salvation of all the lost and still the raging seas, Oceans and storms. That pretty well takes care of the unsaved.

By the way, I do love you all and I mean ALL!

(Oh boy, what a great opening!)

They are from a "Christian" Lebanese background.

Anyway, I reminded her that these are the "signs" Jesus told us about & that they would occur like "birth pangs"- continue in frequency & intensity.

She looked @ me and said "That just gave me the goose bumps!" and showed me the hair standing up on her arm.

She mentions she prays 1st thing morning & night & her daughter prays, but her 7yr old son-nope.

I advised her to make sure & read her bible everyday & then found out that she doesn't have one & asked me where she could get one.

I then asked about her 5yr old daughter- if she had a kid's Bible. Nope.

So I offered & she accepted that I go and buy them some Bibles & she would reimburse the expense.

This is like watching the 1st shoots come out of the ground from the spring planting- pretty exciting!

Lisa,
That is a great report and I wonder if your feet have touched the ground yet!

I was listening to a couple of evangelist today on my computer and thought that Dear Hubby Jim was in his office so I was quite surprised when I heard "are they talking about the rapture?". He had listened to the whole segment and wanted to be sure he had formed the correct connection to what they were talking about.

Now DHJ is not too supportive of the Jewish people because he wasn't taught that way so when I started making trips to Israel back in the 90's he didn't object but he couldn't figure out why I would want to go there. He had no desire to accompany me so I took off with a group from here.

But now, he is beginning to get the picture and it is his wanting to listen to what I am listening to that is hooking his jaw. So, I referenced the bible passages that they were speaking about and we read it together. All of a sudden happened this afternoon. He finally got what we have been talking about for all this time.

It wasn't confrontational either. He is slowly learning that there is more to God than he has known about and being the man he is, he wants to know more. More like, Prove it! Prove it! Prove it! and who wrote the Bible?

Can hardly wait for tomorrow.

Wayne,
The intro just won me over. Besides that, they have it available for download to read on my computer or a Kindle. That way I can make the print as big as I need and with it being on my computer, it will go with me where ever I take it.

Thanks Wayne for letting us know she is published.

When I click on the SO MANY TEARS link that Grany posted, it takes me to a Jerusalem Watchman web page that says: Sorry, no posts matched your criteria.

Is anyone else running into this problem?

Jim G. said...

Just curious. I realize this is a controversial question and there are sincere Christians on both sides of this issue. But...

PC or Mac?
(I assume Alesia prefers a Mac.)

What about the rest of you.
I have always used a PC with the standard Microsoft Operating System.

I currently am running Windows Vista Home Premium Edition as my Operating System. But, I'm wondering whether to upgrade to Windows 7 or to switch over to a Mac of some sort.

Wayne,
Thanks for the link to the book, it looks very intriguing! I love reading these types of books and will have to get a copy.

At my first opportunity, I'm going to invest in MacBook Pro... there are never conflicts...never.

I have vista and hate it... you can quote me on that. The upgrade to Windows 7 is roughly $130, I don't have funds for either right now, but if the Lord tarries and I don't smash my computer (by accident of course ;), then I will have to save or come up with a plan.

Vista was 7 just released too early, IMHO.

I think Paul and James must have both used PCs with some sort of Windows Operating System based upon the following:

Moreover [let us also be full of joy now!] let us exult and triumph in our troubles and rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that pressure and affliction and hardship produce patient and unswerving endurance.
Romans 5: 3

But if we hope for what is still unseen by us, we wait for it with patience and composure. Romans 8: 25

Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience. James 1:3

Shortly after Vista was introduced, Apple missed an opportunity for a great advertising campaign.

Show people using a PC running Vista while on a road trip. They see a road sign that says "Vista Point" with an arrow. They pull off and stop at the beautiful Vista point overlooking the Grand Canyon or some similar spot. And they huck their PC running Vista off at the Vista Point. At the bottom is a pile of Vista PCs.

Makes me feel good just to write that;-) I feel better now. Is that bad?

UFO collection around Iceland Volcano Some people have been watching a "live stream" of the Iceland Volcano & have uploaded some clips of the UFO activity.

(The airspace around the Volcano is restricted.)

I've watched quite a few UFO videos & it looks like the real deal to me. I'm waiting to see what the other bloggers on Marzulli's site have to say.

So just FYI - In case this plays into the end time deception/delusion somehow.

(Some of the 911 video has quite a few UFO's visible as well-they look about the same as in these clips.)

Re Monte Judah. I should emphasize that I have no problem with his being post-trib, even though I thought his anti-pretrib rapture article was off base. It was his other views that raised a red flag for me.

I once even wondered myself whether the 70 weeks might be a modern fulfillment. Interestingly I recently bought the Temple book by Randall Price, which at over 700 pages is a gold mine of info. MJ’s vid made me go back and read Dr Price’s standard version of the 70 weeks and compare the reasoning behind the two views.

Another earthquake!

We were just discussing the Mac/PC topic a few days ago here. Hubby noted that all of his techie toys are Apple but our computer is still a PC. We just had a major crash a few months ago and upgraded to 7. It's OK so far, but we are constantly dealing with viruses or malwares of one kind or another. His biggest concern is about not being able to send spreadsheets, etc. from the home computer to his work one (which is a PC). He does a ton with Lotus and Excel.
My delay is that I just am not excited about learning a whole new way of operating, although everyone else I know seems to be making the switch. We are seriously considering getting an iPad for me to use downstairs, though. Perhaps that will be the beginning of the change-over.
Or perhaps the whole thing will be a moot point before long! That's what I'm hoping for!

Blessings,
Jen

sorry to hear about Marge's husband-hubby and I have been sick with the flu for the last few days so this is the first day I have logged on.

as to Mac vs Windows. we are firmly a windows house unfortunately. my hubby the computer programmer despises apple with a passion. given Apple's overt attempts to silence some of the more conservative critics of BOO, I am not inclined to buy their products anytime soon

I tried the link for the Many TEars site and it worked on my XP with SP3 update but just for you and anyone else having difficulties with it here is the link you can copy and paste. http://www.stangoodenough.com/?p=386#. If you are using Firefox there is an extension called Linkification and it is fantastic. Any URL listed on a page immediately becomes a direct link to the referenced page. If you are interested, I will post the link for it here. You will have to go to the search page on Firefox and enter the name.

I agree with Hyde on not being disturbed by his anti-pretrib position. That really doesn't rattle my bones at all.

But it was interesting and I do thank you for sharing it.

An interruption or divine appointment?

[The Lord said,] "I have made you a light to the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the furthest corners of the earth." When the Gentiles heard this, they were very glad and thanked the Lord for his message; and all who were appointed to eternal life became believers. Acts 13:47-48 NLT

Jesus wants us to see that neighbor next door or the people sitting next to us on a plane or in a classroom are not interruptions to our schedule. They are there by divine appointment. Jesus wants you to see their needs, their loneliness, their longings, and he wants to give us the courage to reach out to the them. Rebecca Manley Pippert

Appointed to eternal life

When I read this verse, I am reminded that there are people around us whom God is pursuing. It may be the teenager down the street, a lonely coworker, a weary single parent, or even someone standing next to you in line at the bank. The world is full of men and women who have been crying out to God in the quiet desperation of their hearts or in the darkness of a long night. God has been working in their lives and stirring a desire for him. He wants to use us to be a light to them and bring them the good news of hope in Jesus Christ. Ask that his Spirit would show you those in your neighborhood or workplace who need to be the recipients of your prayers. He will help you to build relationships with them and be a vessel through whom God can share his love.

LORD, show me those in my neighborhood, my circle of friends, and my family that you want me to pray for and build relationships with. Equip me to be a light to those who don't know you and to love them for Christ's sake.

Alesia,

Love the devotional today. An Interruption or Divine Appointment. I have to save this one too.

What a good way to start the day; that is a great reminder for all of us.

JIM C.,
That image needs some cosmetic attention. I couldn't help but think of how silent Iceland has always been in the past and so easy to forget. Then along comes their financial woes and immediately following, a world stopping volcanic eruption. For some reason the attention is being focused on them and I can't help but wonder "Why?". Any thoughts?

Denver Airport Underground

campsmore said...

Sorry, I just noticed there is some vulgar lang. on that site

campsmore said...

I read a few sites a couple years back regarding the airport. It has mysterious keypad that no one uses, symbols and clues to who knows what, some talk of a huge underground operation and all sorts of weird junk.

Denver Airport

campsmore said...

“110 million cubic yards of earth have been moved, way more than usually required. This arose suspicion of construction taking place underground.” and “5300 miles of fiber optics were installed for communications (USA coast to coast is 3000 miles in comparison).”

There is talk that there is a subway that connects NORAD in Cheyenne Mountain to the underground facility at the Denver airport.

I know nothing about this, never saw any concrete proof, although I never looked that hard, but this place is more than just a little creepy. If there is nothing to this other than just creepy art, some artist needs deliverance.

Great Grany 5 said...

That is creepy Lori. To the point that I can always avoid Denver but that isn't any kind of a solution. I think I will go take a really hot shower and try to go to sleep.

jim.carroll said...

Denver airport is also the home of the Demon Horse. That's the huge statue of a blue horse rearing up (representing the Broncos sports team?) that at night has blazing red eyes. The statue killed its creator by collapsing on him a few weeks before the statue was erected on site.
